Hey everyone- I just started going back to the gym and I need some music to put on my ipod to keep me motivated during my work out... any suggestions?

One summer back in HS/college, I lost a lot of weight probably within a month without even realizing it until I returned to school. I did one hour on a cheap little stationery bike while listening to Britney then went swimming afterwards.

I still have Britney on my MP3 player but she's not as big of a motivator for me anymore. I heard she's trying to lose weight for her comeback though. Now I just listen to R&B, mostly upbeat club music to remind myself of the little outfits I want to wear out once I've lost the weight.

I have been downloading workout mixes from DJ's and have really enjoyed them. You can look under the Helath and Fitness section for Fitpod or go to Fitpod.com They are typically an hour or so long and you can choose different tempos to suit your level.

I like to work out to Richard Simmon's Sweatin' To The Oldies :o My MIL got me hooked, hehehe! Majority of what I listen to is PunkRock or Alternative Rock, and I find it not nearly as motivating...

Now you all know my secret! SHHH! :sssh:

Although I like many kinds of music, only the tunes that make me want to dance work for me...usually pop & hip-hop.. :carrot:

Christina Aguilara - Beautiful
Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous
Missy Elliot - Work It
Nelly Furtado - Maneater

I generally have techno-ish music.. which I really don't like unless I'm working out.
Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, and Oakenfold are probably my favorites.

Something a little less main stream... but really upbeat and interesting. Bhangra music. It's a UK/British mix thing... I've heard it in Bollywood movies. Maybe I'm nuts... but at least its different :)

Lately, I've been listening to Nickelback. Ashlee Simpson's first cd is good as well.

 Me too, when I hear something with a beat to it, it gets me up and going!

I usually listen to Rockabilly music, which sometimes gets me pumped, but I'm ashamed to say that most of the time when I work out it's to Black Eyed Peas and other ridiculous Teeny-Bopper music. It tends to get you amped for your work out and stay going throughout.

There's a thread under the exercise section that's about good workout music and it has tons of good choices. I've downloaded quite a few that were listed over there. I'd post the link, but I don't know how! Anyways it's pretty easy to find. I love all the new ideas. I get bored easy so new music always helps!

Depends on what you like...
One song that really motivates me is "Yes we Can" by Fat Boy Slim.

I work out to a lot of different music depending on my mood from Black Eyed Peas to Rob Zombie.
