Hi everyone.. I know it is early, but I just got back in the swing and need to set some small goals. There may be a site here already but I was to lazy to read them all. So I would like to start a turkey challenge. I would like to lose about 10 pds. I know that may not sound like much but I have some health issues that may stop the progress. Even if I lose 5 I would be happy. I will also make a promise of working out 5 days a week at the least. I will also drink and drink my water and record as best as I can...........Lets see how this works out... Any one on board?:carrot:

Oh I love your little turkey in your siggy! How cute!
I'm up for a Turkey Day challenge -
I would like to lose 6 lbs and work out 4 days a week. That means I have to go one more day than I already am. It would also mean that I would exceed my first mini-goal by 1lb.

4 Weeks and 3 days to Thanksgiving
I would like to committ to 8 lbs. I have been following the WW program only 2-3 days a week since mid summer. The first 20 weeks I went to Weight Watchers I lost almost 40 lbs. Since then I have held steady, but just barely.
I reactivated my membership at the local gym two weeks ago. My plan is to go to the gym at least 3 days per week and actually get my heart rate up. I am very good at going to the gym and walking lazily on the treadmill or pedeling slowly on the bike. I need real workouts.
My plan. Keep my average points under 26. Get in some workouts! Fasten a water bottle to my hip. Log on to the tracking thread each day and report my progress.
The image below is a graph of my weight loss so far.

I'm in! I think I'll shoot for 8 pounds, but I'm not officially starting until Saturday....that's when my Trick or Treat Challenge ends as it is my last weigh in before the big candy day. So, Saturday of next week will be my first turkey weigh in! Good luck, everyone!
Oh, and I plan to continue the way I have been....walk 52 minutes (that's how long my route takes) or 30 minutes on the elliptical daily, 8 glasses of water, and stay within my points!

uggh i love the sweets for turkey day but, i'm lucky my mom is on weight watchers and so are both of my sister in laws so that should help some. i know she will have some sweets there for the guys and for our lil ones but, us girls will probably make the pumpkin pie weight watchers recipe or something if we want a treat. the low point weight watchers fudge is wonderful imight make that and have that there this year have to wait and see how i'm doing some things i have to be so careful of for now till i get back into the swing of things. lets see my workout for last night was tearing my bedroom apart and moving furniture while the boys slept fun fun.. i havent had a chance today to do anything got up got both boys a bath got a shower for myself went for my 6 week post partum appt. then stopped by the place i used to work so the girls could see how the boys are doing and then back home to fix lunch and pack hubbies dinner for work and feed the kids the baby fell asleep then its been chasing the 2 year old that should be worht some activity points right :)))
hope everyone is having a great day today.
WE CAN DO THIS GIRLS> :))))
STAY ON PLAN AND MOVE MOVE MOVE AND DRINK THAT WATER :)))))
i'm so glad to be back with all of you
djmommy
10-26-2006, 08:18 PM
Yep I would say that is a workout. 2 boys yahhh I have 2 myself. I love it and would not change it.They are soooo much fun. I did not work out today. Had a pamer day. Got my hair done , shopped, had a nice good lunch and came home and maybe blew it I hope not. I will not work out tom but maybe do something at home. The weather is awful here rain and cold.. Same tom so I will have to go to the Gym......I am still drinking the water I will probably be up all night going to the lue.I should start early. oH well lesson learned...good luck everyone..
huntersmommy
10-26-2006, 08:29 PM
yup one of the many joins of drinking the water is all the trips to the bathroom ;0 but its so worth it and makes such a difference .. yup little boys are absolutely wonderful wouldnt change it for the world i'm so wrapped around those lil fingers.sounds like a good day to me doesnt get your hair done make you feel so good . have a great workout tomorrow at the gym :)
littlebumblebee
10-27-2006, 02:04 PM
Chasing boys is a workout. I know I can work up a good sweat chasing mine  . I am trying my best to plan for Thanksgiving so that I do not over do it and be back at the starting gate again. Pumpkin pie is a must have for me. I am going to look for the lowest point pumpkin pie that I can find hoping that will help. And plan to eat only one slice. No seconds on the pie for me.
I have been getting in all my water lately. Those bathroom trips can get annoying especially at night when I rather be sleeping. It might help if I have an earlier cut off time to finish up my water. That might ease up on the late night bathroom trips.
huntersmommy
10-27-2006, 09:39 PM
i'll have to look and see if i can find it but, ww has a good crustless pumpkin pie recipe :) yeah the late night running to the bathroom is tough but, for now with a brand new baby in the house its not such a bother since hes not sleeping through the night yet.
how did we do today girls? i stayed on plan all day still havent gotten in all my water shame on me but, i'm close.
right now i'm making some ww pizza pouches they are great big hit with my darling hubby to its nice to have a recipe that he likes and i do to makes dinner time alot easier.

Morning -
Huntersmommy, I've been having issues with the water this week too. I can feel it when I don't have it all in and need to be more conscious of it. I think I'll go drag out those large travel water bottles again and get those filled and in the fridge. That always makes getting the water in easier.
So how many ways can you fix chicken and fish? That's what I have in the freezer for this week. DD bought us a George Foreman grill last week for our anniversary and I'm really liking it. I believe it will make quick dinners easier.
Also Huntersmommy - have you tried the crustless pumpkin pie? I have the recipe but haven't tried it yet. May have to try that out before T-day to see how it tastes.
I made the chocolate/pumpkin cake last night. I'm going to get that into servings into the freezer and then I'm going to make the WW Apple pie (4 pts) so I can have that this week too. Some weeks I just want sweet stuff and both of these should help me fill that need and keep totally on program.
Let us know how the rest of you are coping and what some of your secrets are!
huntersmommy
10-28-2006, 09:50 AM
rosegarden yup pumpkin pie is good :)) yeah i have my sweet weeks sometimes to its better to induldge those sweet tooths here and there than have the big binge . was so proud of myself last night dh got home from work early and i made pizza for him but, it wasnt ww friendly i wanted some bad but, i made it through the night without going to the fridge and stuffing my face with it so proud of myself. hmmm the small victories are making me feel good for now.
gotta go start my water for the day hopefully after i get back from the base grocery store i can get my workout in for the day starting slow its amazing how out of shape 9 months of not being allowed to exercise can do to a body . leslie sansone is kicking my tail ..
what kind of exercise are you girls doing to help with your weightloss
lets post about staying on plan and drinking are water and our workouts :))
we can do this girls..
lets get up have a great on plan day .. my first official weigh in since being op is monday well home weight in i havent gone back to my meetings yet i'm changing my signature as my weight has changed this week i know alot of its just water at this point but, every bit is one bit less of me :)))))
oh yeah dont know bout y'all but, i weigh myself daily i know you shouldnt do that but, for those if have the cant stop myself bug, at the top of the page where there is the meet and greet and description of ww in a nutshell there is a sticky called tools i got a great printable weight tracker from there its dated and you just right your weight in each day just make sure you weigh at the same time every day :)))
What is your biggest dieting obstacle?
mine would be my hubby everytime i try to lose weight he brings home something he knows i love like candy or pizza or ice cream.. last time I lost 124 pounds despite his attempts to keep me chunky to keep others from looking. I went from a size 26/28 to a size 12 that is the smallest i ahd been in 6 years
what is your biggest motivation?
my family , my hubby my kids i want to be the healthiest i can be want to be able to keep up with my boys and watch them grow up.

Huntersmommy - Paige posted the following in the Supporting Each Other Thread as a Pizza recipe. I made it and it was fab!!!! It really satisfied my pizza craving!
Linda- We are big pizza eaters, but can't afford to spend the money or points to order out often. I make my own that is 3.5 pts/slice (8 slices/pie.) It's really easy, and we think it's pretty good.
Dissolve 1 packet instant dry yeast in 1 cup very warm water
Add 2 tsp salt and 2 tsp sugar
Add enough all purpose flour to make a dough (dump & stir till it looks right)
Knead, cover and let rise for 1 hr
Once I get the dough spread out on the pan, I use 1/2 cup of pizza sauce and 5 servings of moz cheese (they are 1/3 cup servings of cheese=to 2pts each)
You could make 3/4 of the pizza loaded with the stuff for DH and leave 2 pcs as your cheese part (1/4 pizza) It also traveled well for my lunch the following day. I added mushrooms and broccoli to my part too for freebies

OK, my Trick or Treat challenge final weigh in was this morning, so I'm officially moving on to the Thanksgiving challenge! I'm hoping (not hoping, working hard towards!) an 8 pound loss by Thanksgiving. I believe I have just about 4 weeks to do it, so I think it's possible!
CarebearsChris
10-29-2006, 11:31 AM
I have also set my Thanksgiving Goal as 8 pound. I am doing the Biggest Loser Challenge and it is set to be 260. It finishes about a week after Thanksgiving, so I figure 2 pounds a week should be obtainable.

What am I doing to reach my goal? Walk Walk Walk and Walk some more. I have fibromyalgia and can't do much more than walk. I hadn't felt well over the weekend. Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon I have weight exactly the same--270.2. I have not gone over points at all so it has to be the fact that I haven't walked any. I only walk 5 minutes at a time and try to walk 4 times a day. So back on the treadmill I go. I drink nothing but water. Wishing everyone well today.

huntersmommy--Congrats on being the mom of the cutest costume winner.
I did well candy wise. We had 11 trick or treaters and 3 bags of candy. I haven't touched any and don't plan on it. We did get into an agruement with a neighbor. I live in a townhouse. The neighbor had 8 cars in everyone else's parking spots. It was a mess. All 11 kids that came to my door were from that house. All of their friends came here to trick or treat. I have vowed that I will never do candy again. Don't understand why people can't trick or treat in their own neighborhood. If they can't because it isn't a safe neighborhood then go to the mall.
Ok off my soap box now.

huntersmommy

yeah you girls are my mini meetings to. right now i'm not going to meetings but, i've came off of weight watchers in january when i found out i was pg after losing 124 pounds . coming here helps me stay honest :) you girls are a wonderful wonderful support system . i know when i was going to the meetings there were 3 ladies that would do the weigh in each meeting and ugggh nothing is more intimadating than steppin on the scale in front of them ahving them tell you that you either lost or gained if you lost you were praised if you gained they would say well you gained but, they were supportive. it took me 2 years to lose that 124 pounds but, i wasnt always on track with my eating there was some obstacles but, all that hard work is so worth it. and with out you girls i couldnt have made it that far.
so everyone lean on one another when you feel like cheating or you've fallen off the wagon had a bad day come here we are here to support not judge anyone we are in this together
we are on our way to being healthy even more beautiful women and we are doing it one day at a time and for now with the wonderful holiday season upon us one holiday at a time..

Hey ladies~ doing good here......staying OP, drinking tons of water & am heading to the gym in about 30 minutes. All in all, feeling good about things. In fact it's that TOM & I feel great, which is very unusual for me. I tend to tackle small tasks at once....since I've been doing great sticking to the program & have been rountinely working out & drinking H2O, this weeks task is MILK. Rather than *hoping* i was getting enough dairy in everyday, I have committed that for 2 weeks I will drinks 24oz of FF milk each day & see how things go. So far so good.......let's hope all the claims of how good it is for you are right. Did I mention I don't really care for milk.....oh well! :dizzy:
huntersmommy~ the walking videos...do you just walk in place or on a treadmill??? I've seen them in the store but have no idea what they are about.
djmommy~ Don't beat yourself up. Just get back up & put it behind you!! We're here for you. I too have a thyroid problem, but I am gonna just press on.....even if I only ever lose 10lbs then atleast I am 10lbs ahead, KWIM.
huntersmommy
11-03-2006, 09:17 AM
the walking videos she moves you around you do side steps and kick backs and knee lifts and kicks and mover your arms walk forward and backwards and you have the option of using weights or not using them they are tons of fun especially with the weather turning colder:))

Today is going well so far. I did have a little bit of a goof, but that will all work out. I grabbed a biscuit from McD's not knowing it was 6 pts. Yowsers. So far I've had 10 pts this morning.
I'm trying to get use to not having so many points. I was able to have 32 pts when I was nursing and now I'm down to 22. Having a bit of a hard time with that.

huntersmommy~ that sounds great. I might have to check them out...you are right about the cold. It is 12degrees here right now & it only the beginning of Nov. Warm days for us are a full 6 months away:( It's funny as soon as the first snow flies, my gym usage jumps by 300%. :D
Dori~ I hear ya about the BF points....granted it's been almost 4 years since I weaned my son, but I rmeber all to clearly that day....the day I lost 10 points. It just about killed me. Actually I ended up quitting out of frustraion & now I am back with a vengenace....determined to lose the 50 extra lbs I've been carrying around all of this time. I wish I had just stuck with it then & gotten rid of this weight 4 year sago, KWIM...anyway, enough babbling....you can do it & we are here to support you!:carrot:

I'm back. Our internet connection was cut at work yesterday and today the boss worked me hard. Two full days of hard work and no play. Whew - let's hope next week is better.
I did my WI and I still lost 1/2 lb. Now I won't get to my T'day goal at 1/2 lb increments but I have a great mind set to get back into the game and make this work.
I'll be around this weekend. Have to do a grocery shop and get stuff back into the cupboards and make some meals but I'll have it under control by Sunday.
See ya around this weekend

First weigh in today for me for the Thanksgiving challenge...down 2.8 pounds. If I continue as I am I will hit my 10% for WW at my weigh in next Saturday...woo hoo!! I know it seems like a little thing, but since I started WW at home for a couple weeks before I went to a meeting, my 10% for them started with my first meeting, and I had already lost 14 pounds by then! So my WW 10% is actually like 15%.....who would've ever thought I'd want that darn key chain so badly?!

Congrats on the loss, Kelly. Isn't it funny how we want those prize thingies? I am doing this all on my own with any of the means WW has out there. I am fast approaching my first 10% and wish there was a prize for it. Hubby said well why don't you break down and have that cheeseburger you have been craving. NO THANKS. I don't want to have to loss the same pounds again.

Chris - go ahead and have a small cheeseburger - plan on it, work it in your program and make it work. Take my advice. It will be better for you in the long run and one burger will not crash your goals whatsoever. That's the beauty of WW.
I did get out to do the fruit and veggie shopping but I got called into work so I didn't get any cooking done. I do have a couple hours today and I'm hoping to get a couple of things in the freezer.
I'll try to pop in later. Have a good SUnday everybody. I'm off to church

Thanks, Rose. I will break down and have a small burger one of these days. Ihave been eating turkey burgers and I just think I need to eat one of them and the burger craving will go away...I hope.
Right now I have to get thru today. Breakfast out with MIL and DSD at IHOP. I need to go look at their menu and find a point friendly breakfast.
WI day. I am down 2 pounds so I am right on track for the Thanksgiving Challenge. YAY.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone!
Chris, I understand not wanting to have to lose the same pound(s) over again, but a really small burger might be the trick. I LOVE rice crispy treats, the real gooey homemade ones. They are one of my specialties. DD had a big party to go to for her dance team last night, and I've supplied the RCTreats for all functions for the past 9 years, so they wanted them again as usual. I knew I needed to make them, and, knowing how much I love them, I decided to alot a 5 of my points for the day for a small one (I figured them out point wise, so I needed 5). Anyway, those first 2 bites were like heaven....but the rest was just "ok". What gives? I used to be able to eat SEVERAL of them, and still go back for another.....I think as your body changes you may still want those things, but your body doesn't. Because of that, the extras that are upstairs are not calling my name. Those first two bites took care of my craving and satisfied me completely. Take the two bites of your burger and reevaluate. It might be all you need!
boaterswife
11-05-2006, 01:48 PM
Ooops! Forgot to add one more thing!
Chris, I know it's not the same to have to supply your own prize, but it means the same nonetheless....If you want/need a prize or reminder or pat on the back for your 10%, BUY ONE! You can get one of those key chains on ebay for about $3. It will still be a reminder of your accomplishments and a motivator whether a WW leader gave it to you or you picked it up yourself. Don't go without!

Thanks for the welcome!
I did horrible today. Well it started out great. Two apples for breakfast and I went to the gym at lunch. Got back to the office and realized I forgot 1/2 of my lunch on the kitchen counter at home. But hey, at least I did remember my salad. Cool, right.
Well, I am working on this project at work that would kil a lesser woman. :dizzy: Well by the end of the day, I am near tears and my wonderful hubby decides to do me a favor by covering dinner for us.
pizza.
Pizza is my favorite, my weakness.
Not just any pizza. Pizza from my favorite pizza place. deep dish and with extra cheese.
But you know what. It was one day and it will be just this ONE day. And i didn't go hog wild. I held back. 1. I barely drank any water today and 2. I don't want to cancel out my workout from this afternoon.
I still feel guilty, though.
Hopefully the scale will be gently with me tomorrow.

oc one bad day is ok once and a while. You just get back OP the next meal. Sounds like you did well and didn't eat alot. I am sure you will be fine.
Rosegarden
11-07-2006, 09:39 AM
OC - I'm sure you did fine.
Can I offer some advice? I'm not sure how long you have been on WW or if you have done WW in the past. If you already know this, just refresh your memory. I noticed that you said you ate 2 apples for breakfast and had a salad for lunch. Some protein in either and/or both of those meals would help you a lot. Protein breaks down slower and gives you so much more bang for your points. Try to put some protein in every meal. You will find the extremes won't happen so often and the willpower stays stronger because you don't have that big void in the stomach area.
Pick yourself up from the pizza and figure out what you could have done differently next time. If you don't want to change it and it's okay to have eaten the pizza, that's okay too.
Went to a Pampered Chef party last night. The hostess was a friend of mine and served some pretty good alternatives to all the sweets that were there. I was able to have a couple small pieces of the treats to give them a taste, but they were not the "main meal" . That in and of itself is a huge improvement for me. I knew I was going to the party, so I allowed myself some extra points to move around with and it worked pretty well for me.
How are you doing?
CarebearsChris
11-07-2006, 09:45 AM
Hi Rose. I am glad to hear your friend thought of you and had a good treat for for everyone.
Yesterday was a bad day for me. I spent a lot of my points snacking. I stayed within points but didn't get the protein. During the course of the day I ate 4 mini bags of popcorn at 2 points a bag. Top that off with 2 points for pudding. I don't usually munch like that. Looking back I realize I was bored yesterday. I will keep myself busy today....even if that means cleaning.
I have an appointment with my counselor today. Joy Joy.
Hope every one has a great day.

Hello,
I haven't had a chance to write. I have been working 7am to 6pm and the past couple of days. I have been just crashing at night after making dinner and cleaning up. Sitting at my desk for hours on end, in front of a computer, I had no desire to come home and do the same. This project is something else!
Just wanted to update you all, I have worked out twice this week and after that one bad day I have been right on track. And in fact immediatly after my last posting I was tempted with chocolate volcano ice cream and I was able to say with no hesitation "no thank you."
I even took a short walk and that is when I realized how much better I felt since I was finally able to vent to people I knew would understand.
Oh and I have been making sure that I have protein throughout the day as well as with every meal, well with the exception of breakfast, thanks for the reminder. Well, I have been sticking with eating an apple on the way to work and for some reason (I think it is the fiber) the apple actually fills me up.
Thanks for letting me vent the other day.
And wow stacynak, way to go! :carrot:

Woo Hoo, weigh in day! Down 3.2# today, so that leaves me two more pounds to go on my Turkey Challenge! YES!
With today's weigh in I also met my WW 10% and got my keychain...YIPPEE!! I sure have had my eye on it! That also entitled me to submit my receipts to DH's employer for reimbursement of meeting fees....for those of you who weren't around for the first discussion of that, be sure to check with your or your spouse's employer to see if they offer reimbursement.
CarebearsChris
11-11-2006, 11:37 PM
Kelly,
Congrats on the loss and making 10%. I am hoping to be there soon. Could be as soon as tomorrow morning but I think I will be 1 pound short.
A woman from Cigna (our insurance co) Wellness Plan (the insurance's way of helping with diabetes, high blood pressure, depression and obsity) told me that our insurance will pay for WW. So went online to see if this was true. What I found is they will pay for the registration only...not the weekly meetings. :( I called WW and they confirmed this as well. Oh how I wish they would have paid for the meetings.
At this time I can't afford the meetings so I am doing it alone with the help of some Yahoo Groups and these message boards. I did buy the 10% keychain on Ebay as well as the 16 week charm. Both should be here this week.
boaterswife
11-12-2006, 10:43 AM
Chris, I'm so disappointed for you! Our insurance company is also Cigna, and it's also called the Wellness Plan. Actually, Cigna Managed Care, Wellness Plan. I'm wondering if maybe paying for the meetings is an added bonus that dh's employer threw in rather than Cigna. I know dh has to turn the paperwork.....a statement signed by my ww leader with my dates of participation and a ww paid receipt in to his wellness coordinator for reimbursement, then they supposedly will put the reimbursement on his paycheck by the end of the following month. Now that I'm reading over what I've written, it definitely sounds like a company benefit rather than an insurance benefit.
UGH! I wish they would do the whole package for you!
CarebearsChris
11-12-2006, 11:38 AM
Kelly it sure sounds like something your DH's employer is doing. You would think that a company as big as Firestone would do something similar as well.
On another note, today is WI day for me. Another 3 pounds forever gone. That makes the first 10%. I really didn't think I would make it this week but I did.

Kelly & Chris~ WOW!! Great losses & 10%. That is fabulous!!!:bravo: You gals are doing great!
I have 6 more lbs until my 10% (for my WW official one, I lost a few pounds here at home before I went to my first meeting)....it's so close, but still it feels like forever until it gets here, KWIM? And I'm in week 10 right now.....I have my 16weeks marked on my calendar...December 19th. Dorky, I know. But this is the first timed I have stuck with the program like this. I ususally fall off the wagon by about week 6. This time it's for good!
I hope everybody is having a good weekend. It's freezing here, about 5 degress F., and winter has only just begun. :( On a good note, I took one of my kids to the movies yesterday...he got popcorn & I got a FF Haagen Dazs sorbet bar (2pts) & a diet coke. I don't like snow...it is what I call one of those 4 letter dirty words. Since I moved here 6 years ago, we haven't had much in the way of snow. And when it is forecasted every one runs to the store for milk and bread. Schools and businesses close. We might get a 3-4 inches and it is gone within a couple of days. Hope this winter is like the past 6.

Stacy, I understand about the WW 10%. I did the same thing, started at home a couple weeks before I joined WW. It felt like it took forever to reach their 10%! 5*? Wow that's cold!! DH and I have always wanted to visit Alaska, but to live there? I don't think I could!
Rosegarden, I have one of those bracelets. I purchased it off of ebay right after I started WW. It didn't work well for me at that time, I think because I still needed to look everything up, so I had to have the books with me all the time anyway. I am thinking of getting it back out now, though, because I think it may be better now that I just "know" most of the point values I use daily.

I see you have done some 5k runs. There is a 5k run/walk here on Thanksgiving day. I don't think I am ready to take it on but I am hoping that next year I can. With my fibromyalgia it might be impossible even with more weight off. Right now I can do 5 minutes at a time on the treadmill and I am doing it 3-5 times a day. I was up to 15 minutes at a time but had a small step back. My fault really...I didn't walk for a week. But I am back on track now. Guess I should make a goal for walking in it next year.

Food for thought! I just re-read the Women's World article AGAIN (I know, I know! LOL) and thought I would share for those of you who haven't read it!
It looks to me like the main idea to bumping up your weight loss is to make sure EACH and EVERY meal you eat, breakfast, lunch and dinner, all have a balance of fresh veggies, a little bit of carbs/starches, and a small amount of protien. Veggies fill you up, carbs/starches help with cravings, and the small amount of protien helps keep you full longer.
Sounds simple enough, just wanted to share!
