GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM-I do believe it's one worth printing:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

PATIENCE

There is enormous strength in patience, because patience enables you to achieve the most effective results, not just the most immediately available results. When you act out of haste and shortsightedness, time can work against you. When you are patient and diligent, time works in your favor.

Patience is more than just waiting. Patience is having the faith and the confidence to act over the long term, beginning now, and steadily continuing day after day until the goal is reached.

Patience expands your options. If you insist on immediate gratification, your choices are severely limited. When you are willing to work patiently and steadfastly toward your goals, those goals can realistically be just about anything you choose.

The greatest achievements are those which are built day after day, month after month, with one effort on top of another. When you can be urgent about the effort and patient about the reward, anything is indeed possible.

Good Morning Again!

What a nice start to a Monday. Eli had to be at work at 5am, and I woke up early when I saw the bathroom light on, so I got my but up and was out the door for my walk/jog by 5:15am! Pounding the pavement in the dark. Couldn't believe it was 80 degrees and humid as it was at that time-sweated like it was 9am, but was nice that I didn't have to deal with the sun as well. Got my 4.5 miles in in 50:30:)

Of course, the scale is NOT cooperating with me today-it went back up a pound:rolleyes: Oh well, what can I do but b*tch and moan and be patient?!?

Here's a post from CHUNKY BARBIE that I copied so you'd all get to see it on our weekly board:

I agree with Shannon from TX. I have hardly ever posted on the Sugar Busters website because of all of the silly fighting and rudeness I have seen there. I used to go to get new info, but it always seemed like the same stuff over and over. Like a Soap Opera as well. I read a message from someone at this site and followed to here. Everyone seems nicer here.

CB WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! Glad you've decided to join our wonderful group of wonderful women! Hope you don't mind me shortening your screen name:) Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD! It's great to have another FLORIDIAN on the board!!!! You're in good company with many other gals here from the Sunshine state. You seem to be doing really well on SB-I'm sure you will have continued success! I love your daughters name!!! Please, don't hesitate to ask any questions, we are all more than happy to help in any way we can!!! Again, WELCOME!!!

Well, that's it for me, at least for now-going to get in the shower early and then get Lauren off to school.

I'll check in with you all later today.

Have a great week!

Just a quickie before I run to work-

I think that motivational Monday message was pointed directed at the target on my forehead. I am the most IMPATIENT person on the face of the earth. I know it, and my husband and kids sure know it. It's probably why I've never had any long-term goals in my life! For me, that will be the key to staying with this WOL- there can never be instant gratification, and I've just got to learn to live with that.

Welcome CB- you're sure right about the SB board! It's getting really silly and has degenerated to name calling. I've never seen that happen here.:)
How come 3/4 of the people on the board are from the South?

Nance- Great going on the test, good luck on the next step! In answer to your question, I live about 35 mile west of Philadelphia, in what used to be a fairly rural area with pockets of suburbia when we moved here 18 years ago. Now it is 99% suburban developments, with an occaisional cornfield or horsefarm. Each small township has complete zoning authority, so the look changes every mile or so, from multimillion$ horsefarms and estates, to high density townhouses, to the latest crop of "McMansions". For the most part, the general area is beautiful, with rolling hills (unless you're running up them) and lots of variety. The Amish country (Lancaster County) is about 20 miles west of here.

Gotta run to work, then tennis- bye for now

Happy Monday!

MELF - Way to go!! You are my inspiration this morning and I hope to follow in your footsteps! You are my Monday motivation!

Welcome to all the newbies - you've come to the right place. I don't post too much lately, but I'm looking forward to getting to know you. Much success to you on this WOE!

I'm in the right frame of mind today - after a long absence. This is a new day and a new beginning, right??!!

Sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone. It's my day off and I've already got half the kitchen floor stripped and ready for the wax. Lot's more ahead!

Have a great day and great week.

Good Monday morning everyone! I have been a big time lurker but just don't have that ooomph or motivation to post. I have to get out of my funk. I have been alittle depressed (more than usual! LOL) and very busy with the children. I know excuses excuses! I guess i just feel over loaded sometimes. I am trying to live up to everyones expectations, trying to help everyone else get healthy (seems like) and just not taking time for me -and the other important things in my life like house work and bills. I can feel the pressue building up and i don't like it! Not to mention that i was sick this week end with some kind of stomach bug thats going around-HOW RUDE i never get sick-and of course i felt guilty for it! someone hit me!! I never vomited but the other stuff was hot and heavy and i had a terrible tummy ache. I thought i was having reaction to pizza i ate on Fri. I wish it was that! but i won't be eating it again. It was one of those pressure situations where thats what they where having and i didn't have a take out menu bla bla bla!!! then of couse that triggers me the whole day!!!! o.k enough whining from Rhroo!
The scale is at 140ish with MELF ((((hugs)))) woooooo hoooooo for her!!!! great feeling huh?????
My three children have been busy or should i say i have been busy! The oldest decided he wanted to play soccer for his school -3 weeks after it started! ugggg so mommy had to run around and talk to coaches and buy soccer stuff after everyone else wanted soccer stuff! The middle one is on a Rec. league he has practice once a week-of course the same day as my little ones dance class!! which she LOVES! She also is in soccer but only on Sat. Morning I am loving this asst. coach thing! the kids are cute and listen and are just sooooo good. My daughter wanted to know what position you don't have to run! LOL they learn quick! So now i am waiting for home games for my older son to start and the middle one has games tue, thurs, and sat! I feel like a whirl wind! Hubby has been great we are doing the tag team thing on Thurs! I asked my dad if he ever had a life when we where growing up!
Actually I did have a life Sat. Hubbys band played in the afternoon and grammy and papa took my kids. I just wished i felt better. It was fun and the weather was great! I love fall. Oh by the way hubby has lost 30lbs now and is getting compliments all the time! Thank god!!! LOL now we are getting "you both look sooooo good!" I think i like that!

Deb-yes we should throw out the scale! You sound busy too. I have a sister too she has one child and is divorced she has been going through alot these last couple of weeks-her bf dumped her (3rd one that dumped her) she is feeling rejected. I know they are glad we are here for them. I don't know if i would rub her butt though!

Melf-woooooooooo hooooooooooooooo 140!!!!

meliris- I also have the patience of a flea! I know excatly what your saying! I have been maintaing this weight for months now! i guess i am getting a bit more patience! you can do it!

I can't remember all my other replys from last weeks board

:dizzy:
Quilter-HIIIII hope your doing better!!!!!!! thinking of u!

Welcome all the newbies you all sound so motivated and eager!!! thats an awsome feeling I know you all will help me too!!!! gotta go shower before the Queen gets off the bus (which she hates and tells me everyday!) talk to you all tomorrow

Oops--I've been AWOL all weekend--actually not. I was reading posts, but had to ask for my password so I could actually log in. I need to change it to something I can remember!

Melf--WOOOHOOO! Goal! :D I'm so happy for you and PROUD of you!!!!!. I'm doing the happy dance for you. Now that you have reached goal, I'd like to hear your thoughts about your journey and what you have learned along the way!

CB and Music Teach--WELCOME:wave: We are MUCH nicer over here--we cheer each other on and nurse each other through our weaknesses. We are all nice--well, except Deb. You'd better be careful or she'll drag you off the the DETOX DUNGEON and work you over--just ask the Big Orange Baba and the Nancemiester! (just kidding Deb :s: ). Actually Deb is our fearless leader who having reached and exceeded her goal continues to praise us, inspire us, and even kick us in the butt when need be. It's funny though--butt kickins over here are always gentle and in good humor so you know it is constructive--instead of the nasty responses I've seen on the other board!

Deb--Patience? You've got to be kidding! Actually I like the post on the scale much better. I'm still getting on everyday (so much for Wednesdays only--I'm with you about it being too hard to resist). But I have stopped expecting it to show anything other than what it has been reading for the last month. After using fitday for the last week, I've seen that my intake of food is well within my caloric range--and I'm hitting pretty close to the 40% carb 30% protein and 30% fat guidelines and I'm still working out--so I know I'm doing what I'm supposed to. I guess my body just needs some time to catch up.

BOB--I would have enjoyed watching football on Saturday excpet that not a SINGLE game came out the way I wanted it too. Apparently Auburn's defense missed the plane to Syracuse. The only light is that NC State won--but they weren't on TV, so I didn't get to see that!

Gator--I hope that snack Saturday was a tasty one! We'll be waiting for you here in Auburn Heh heh heh.

Kim--Glad to hear from you. It will take a while to heal!

I can't respond to everyone--always what happens when I miss posting for several days.

I went shopping Friday--I bought a jacket in a size 20W--it is almost too big--but was marked down so much that it is worth it--even if I only wear it till Christmas. I tried on coats too. The 2x about swallowed me--the 1x was a perfect fit--even room for sweaters. So there is still progress--just not on the scale. I'll take it whereever I can get it!

I'm not going ANYWHERE near the scale until Wednesday and I'm drinking 2 GALLONS of water a day until then! We took a friend out to eat before she moves out of state. Of course we had to take her to UNCLE JONES' BBQ - "NUTHIN' MO BETTA" - an experience all of its own! This is where we go to get BBQ when I get homesick. NOT ONE place in Orlando does BBQ right, but Uncle Jones does!! They have awesome ribs, pulled pork and fried okra like I haven't had since my Mama Nina passed away. I imagine FILLISE and BOB and MELF know for sure what I'm talking about I gorged myself on the cornmeal battered fried okra like it was going out of style and it was sooooooo good. I don't think comfort foods are overrated at times like this, but, of course, we have to be judicious with how often we turn to them and how much of them we have. :dz: I didn't partake of the collard greens and homemade cornbread but stuck to the ribs, pork and okra. Needless to say I'll be working out extra hard and doubling my water intake to make up for it.

We bought some blue plumbago and yellow lantana to plant around the house. Last week I planted some marigolds and basil around the mailbox. The Postman was tickled to see basil planted as a decoration AND functional use. Turns out he's a herb fan himself with an extensive herb garden.

I bought the paper yesterday so I need to get my butt in gear and start sending out those resumes. I still have hopes that one of the two possibilities will work out - especially at the hospital, but I just haven't heard anything from them about an interview yet. I'm sooooo impatient!! Thanks for the post, DEBBIE!! It reminds me of our minister's wife who talked about how so many of us spend our lives looking around the corner.....when I graduate from college I'll.....when I get married I'll......when I have kids I'll.......when I lose 10 lbs. I'll....... and how we need to quit looking around the corner and enjoy the "season of life" we're in now. Enjoying the journey, as someone so aptly put it on here before. (Be Here Now for FROG, QUILTER, and our other Ram Daas/Deepak Chopra fans) 'Course, I won't lie - when you don't see that paycheck coming in it's kinda hard to be patient. I want it NOW!!!

MELF and FILLISE - I see congrats are in order for you two! Reaching goal and seeing the rewards of your labors is truly inspiring and rewarding!!! I'm so looking forward to discovering I need to get smaller size clothes and happy dancing with you! Congrats on your tenaciousness, your resolve, your determination to meet your goals and sharing the victories with us!! FILLISE you'll be at goal before you know it with those kinds of successes continuing to come your way!!

Everyone else, I've got to run. I'm feeling guilty about being on here when I should be checking job postings. Have a great day!!!

OMIGOSH....I ALMOST FORGOT........COLLEGE FOOTBALL FANS, CAN YOU BELIEVE THE BRUTAL BEATING FSU TOOK FROM NORTH CAROLINA??? Sorry, I have a hard time rooting for men in baby blue uniforms, but it sure was fun to see FSU humbled. GATORGAL is probably doing the happy dance all over her house!! I couldn't believe my eyes. When I turned on the TV the broadcaster was saying, "If you're just joining us you probably think we have that graphic backwards, but we don't. The score really is 41 - 9." Incredible!! Wish my [I]DAWGS/i] had won this week, but they'll be back!! :D

Boy, am I glad to be done with last week. It had to rank up there with one of the worst ever! Depression at peak, TOM, 9 year old broke a tooth, 4 yr old w/strep throat and his Dr. out of town, DH and I on battlegrounds, major work related stress, and to put the icing on the cake - MY DR called to inform me that my pap came back abnormal!!! :(

I was really upset about my dr. recommending waiting 6 months before repeat of the test - I told the nurse, they were crazy if they thought I was going to wait that long. I agreed to make a follow up in 3-4 months instead. I guess that after the year we've had so far with losing Daddy like we did, that my faith in the medical community has been shaken and I just refuse to be put off. What a difference 3-4 months made in his case! I just really want to talk to him about all of this! He was always the one who I could get a reality check from and always the one who's advise I normally followed. I am just at a loss. I'm sure all of these feelings just worked toward making a bad week even worse! Oh well, I need to stop whining and get motivated - after all it is MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY - and I was down by 1 lb last WIW!

Its dreary here in AL today. :^: High is only supposed to be in the 60's tomorrow!! Lows in 40's - what a change! I'm gonna make sure to get my exercise in this week (been slacking really bad on this) and water too!

I'm trying to think of something to say for motivation........ lets see here.

Oh to be thin and lean and trim,
Wouldn't we all love to be?
Who can control our weight and goals?
No one, but you and me!!

We can do it - rah rah rah (too much time with my niece, the cheerleader!)!!!

Hello to all, will get more personal when time permits!

Hey Y'all!

Starting to get gloomy down here in Miami-thunder is rumbling and a few showers have begun. Guess we need this rain, not the thunder.

AMSER, thanks for letting me know the link to the board worked-it hasn't been so reliable for everyone-guess they are still working out the kinks.

MEL, does this mean you will be printing out today's MM post and gluing it to the fridge? Or your forehead?? LOL! I guess there seems to be more overweight people down here in the Sunshine State than I thought-or we can look at it another way-we Floridians are tired of being overweight and are determined to lose the weight, we just happen to of found the same wonderful board!!!!:D

KAREN, good attitude to start the week with:)

RHROO, sorry to hear you were sick this weekend, hope you are doing better today. Hmm, maybe you got that pizza I laced with barf juice-maybe the 2 pieces wasn't enough to get you fully ill! LOL! I put everything off, not that I'm over worked, never the case with me, I procrastinate, and in a big way. Plus, I get bored easily, one reason I always say it amazes me that I have stuck with SB for so long. Congrats to hubby-you'll have to take a new picture to post of the two of you soon! Throw out the scale? NEVER! Bash it with a hammer, curse at it, do best "3 out of 4" probably, but never throw it out!!!

FILLISE, I can't pass the scale without hopping on if I'm clothed in something that I can easily pull of and put right back on-like my nightie, housecoat or towel. I pass that sucker so many times a day-right next to the throne! Though, on days where it starts off that the scale is up, I seem to possess this great resitatance to hoping on much, if at all, at least until the evening. It's good you are keeping track and seeing that you are definitely on the right path-be patient, it will pay off before you know it-I speak from experience on this;) Congrats on the new sizes you're getting into-before you know it, X sizes will be things of the past!!!!

SOL, that BBQ place sounds yummy! Maybe we'll have to hit it when we come up that way-that and Italiani's that I miss so much! If you ever come down this way, I'll take you to SHORTY'S-they don't have okra but they have great BBQ-ask BOB! Hope the water and workouts counter act all the goodies!!!

TV, sorry to hear you're having a rough time this past week. Try not to let it all overwhelm you. DO keep on top of the pap redo-I had one long ago that was abnormal, next time it was fine-wonder what makes it abnormal and then normal the next?:?: How did your son knock his tooth-thank goodness not totally out-which is what my niece did when she was just 3 years old, both teeth knocked right out-she's only 5 and we're so use to seeing no front teeth, the day her permanents start growing in we may not recognize her!!! Hope your other one is feeling better as well. In light of all the troubles, congrats on another pound down the drain!!! Loved the cheer! I had visions of you jumping in the air with your pom-poms!!!!

Okay, back to doing something constructive in this house. Don't know how I am going to make it to the meeting at Michael's school tonight-I'm feeling a wee bit poopish since I got up so early this morning-a nap, maybe???

REMINDER! Tomorrow night is chat at 9:15pm EST

Hey ladies...
Just a quick check in. Been lurking but wanted to let you know Viv's Soap Opera is in full swing, now again with my father. He is majorly antagonistic and depressed, has been diagnosed 70% with another cancer, his wife has moved out and he is rebuffing any help or suggestions I give, and refuses to move into an assisted living facility. For those of you who are new, he's 80 years old and lives 3000 miles away in CA, and I am an only child.

So I'm dealing with this now. Still trying to stay OP but getting really sick of all the crap that comes my way, ESPECIALLY in light of what happened on 9/11 - can't people just learn to DEAL and be nice?

Hope everyone has a great OP week and I'll try to check in again soon,

Fillise--Same thing for me--I had to ask for my password. I had it written down, because I had changed it to something I could remember, but it seems that the whole program reverted to old information, and so I got my old password, which worked.
We have decided to definitely come up for the Auburn game. As planned, we will be staying in one of the cabins at Calloway Gardens with another couple who we are coming up with. We’ll drive over for the game, picnicking at our car. The major thing I remember about Auburn is that parking is a BEAR. People park miles from the stadium and have to walk a ton just to get there. Any suggestions.
I think we have just about decided to forego the trip to New Orleans and up to BR for that game. We just don’t want to spend the money with things the way they are. I’m sad about it, :( but know that it is the right decision.
BTW, congratulations on your new lower size. Be waiting for us Gators with f-e-a-r! We’ll be H-u-n-g-r-y. :s:

SolShine--Yep, I’m still grinning from ear to ear bout them ‘noles. :D Dadgumit! They should have just listened to ole Saint Bobby a bit more and they would have played better!
I know what you mean about comfort food. I’ve never been to Uncle Jones, but I know exactly where it is on 436. Pulled pork! Hmmm. That is mighty tempting. Around here there is mostly just sliced. I wonder if you got a fairly lean piece of pork or beef and stewed it and them mixed it with some doctored up sugar free catsup, you could duplicate it somewhat at home. I bought 3 pkg. of frozen collards and cooked them with smoked pork neckbone for about an hour, adding Wiley’s bean flavoring. It was fantastic, just as southern as I have tasted. I picked off all the meat and threw away the fat and bones, so it is not too bad as far as calories. I just didn’t fix any cornbread, so it wasn’t a complete southern meal. Oh well.

TV--Like Debbie, I once had an abnormal PAP, and then the next one was normal. Who knows! Maybe the lab assistant was not paying attention that day. :dizzy:

Welcome to all the Florida gals. Debbie, we’ll have to plan a Florida get-together in several months. We’ll see who is sticking with this WOE, and sometime after the first of the year meet, perhaps. Maybe we could, as you mentioned, go to Uncle Jones!!

Well, I’ve been studying French all day. I got out of the groove on our vacation, and so need to review. We’re having a test Wed. and I want to do well.

BTW, seems this forum is slowly getting back to speed. I went right to the reply screen and didn't have to re-log in to get to it like I had to yesterday. Be glad when it is totally back to normal.

I'm sitting here at the computer after having presented a very gooey very chocolate cake with ice cream to my now 11 year old son Andrew. We sang H.B., I gave him a hug, watched him and Jon eat a bite each, then RAN from the table.:( I wish I had the ability to sit there smiling and watch, but retreat is the only offense in this case. I hope the motherhood gods will forgive me.

Deb-I've glued today's MM post over the numbers on my scale and over my MOUTH! Not really, but it would be a good idea.

Viv-Hang in there with your father- sounds tough. My mother was an only child and living in Europe for 5 years when my grandmother started going rapidly downhill. I "inherited" her for several years. Luckily not long distance, she moved in with me. I think it was probably easier being a generation removed, tho. My thoughts are with you. It's so hard- no matter what you want, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

TV-I'm NOT a medical person, but I would sure go get a second opinion. Even if waiting 4-6 months is what is recommended, I'd want another smear done asap to keep from going crazy. And your week certainly sounds worth whining about, but congrats on the loss!

Rhoo-Your life sounds like mine a few years ago! Luckily my oldest is now at college, so she's responsible for getting herself to practice and games. I told her from the day she could understand: she would not be getting a car when she turned 16 like all her friends, but you know what? When she got her license I celebrated more than she did, and a safe old car appeared in the driveway which I told her was a present to ME not her.

Kim- Hope you are healing happily and resting.

Solshine- The job market here is looking a little livlier, maybe you'll find something this week. I've about given up on getting back into the computer field without going and taking some courses- there don't seem to be jobs for mainframe programmers or dba's anymore. I feel like a dinosaur!

Wecome BUSDEB! Glad to have you aboard.

Congrats to the losers and close to goalers and smaller size clothes folks!

They must be done stuffing their faces by now-

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't posted today. We've been in Alexandria, LA all day. I did pretty good with my WOE today considering my dh wanted to eat pizza and CiCis. I got a huge salad and I ate the meat off of the pizza hope I didn't stall the weight lose to bad.:( This is the first time I've eaten pizza or cheated in a month.:D Glad to see everyone is doing great. That virus is going around here to. I hope it skips me. My husband is a dispatcher for ASCO. That means he makes sure everyone that goes to the dock gets to their rigs and if they need parts for the offshore rigs they call him and he gets them to them. :spin: Now that the weather has turned off so cool I am going to start my walking when my hubby goes back to work Thursday morning. So then the weight will really come off.;) . All in all this has been a great weekend.

Well I better get off here and get my 3 yr old ready for bed, She loves school, we put her in a christian academy and its really helped her.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry I can't remember everyones name yet, I will learn them hopefully soon.

Hi everybody - just wanted to let you know that I too found the site okay tonight. Been busy, so no time to post. Hate these busy days, but I'm having a lot of them.
Hope everyone survived the weekend and Monday.
Will try to get on more later this week.

Hi everyone :)

It's been a dull, wet day here to-day, raining on and off all day. I went out to badminton this afternoon. Only had time for one game. I planned on getting there on time to-day as I had to leave early to babysit but sat at the computer reading posts and before I new it, it was 1 o'clock, the time I should have been there. Anyway one game was better than nothing. I'll have to make up for it on Wednesday. My dil dropped off my 5 year old gs and then we picked up his sister from school. When we got home he decided he wanted some scambled eggs but he wanted to cook them himself. Which he did with a little supervision. Too bad I couldn't get him to do the dishes after.

Deb - I don't quite know how to answer your question of the week as none quite apply to my situation. At the moment I am not doing any journalling (is that a word?) but I do it periodically. I have done it on several occasions since starting SB and when I do then I will do it daily for several weeks. Is Eli back in your good books yet? That was a good Motivational piece you posted to-day. I am certainly not one with a lot of patience. When I want something I want it NOW. Sorry to hear you are up a pound to-day but you are STILL BELOW GOAL WEIGHT. I think we just have to find a way to keep you off that scale every day - or is it more than once a day. The only time I will get on the scale is first thing in the morning. I know if I weighed later in the day I would be up a couple of pounds. I've managed to cut down to two or three times a week. It was hard at first but I have gotten used to it. You know your weight is going to fluctuate two or three pounds either way. This is normal even for someone who isn't trying to lose. (O.K. I don't like it when it goes up either :() Just trying to encourage you to hide the darn thing even if just for a day or two. How about making a pledge with yourself to not weigh for just ONE DAY next week.

Rhroo - You have housework as one of your daily priorities? When I am dusting and vacuuming I often think of what my dh used to say - "Don't worry about it. It will still be there tomorrow." These days that is my motto. I am always happy to be too busy to worry about housework, except for essentials like meals, dishes and laundry. Then of course I don't have little ones messing up the place. I hope you are feeling better now. Sounds like you are really very busy running around everwhere with the kids. You'll have to make the most of the free time you have when the little one is in school to take time for yourself. Even if it is only a couple of hours a day (does she go every day? When our kids are in kg they go two or three times a week for the whole day which gives Mom a bit more time to herself.) Glad to hear dh has done so well and you are now both getting compliments. You should be proud of your accomplishments. Glad you are enjoying being a soccer coach. That would take a lot of patience. My dd's and ds's kids have finished soccer for the season. They only play during the summer months except for one gs who has just started high school, he may be playing for the school.

Gator - I agree it is much easier to stay op when eating at home. For me it is a question of out of sight out of mind (at least most of the time) but when it is sitting in front of me it's harder to resist. I found it much easier to resist when I first started this woe than I do now.

Kim - Glad to hear you are feeling better but too bad you are having problems sitting at the 'puter. That area is bound to be sensitive for a while but I am sure it will improve a little each day. I am looking forward to your chatty, cheery posts again.

Chunky Barbie and Shannon - WELCOME - I'm glad you have decided to join us. This is a much friendlier board and everyone is much more supportive. Looking foward to getting to know you.

Fillise - I used to have problems remembering passwords, particularly at work. I had different passwords for different programmes. Now I keep the same password for most things. We have to change our password every few months for some programmes but I have an alternate that I change it to then change it back to the original the next time. I remember a few years ago completely forgetting my password and had to go to the computer office to find out what it was. That was a bit embarrassing. Congrats on getting into smaller sizes. I am sure the scale will follow soon. But at least you KNOW you are losing inches and that is more important than what the scale says. Enjoy it.

Solshine - Glad you enjoyed your Southern Barbecue but what the heck is pulled pork? I hope the scale is kind to you on WIW. I've got doubts that it will be kind to me this week but we'll have to wait and see. I was up a little on the weekend which was the last time I weighed. I didn't have too much of an appetite last week but the scale didn't move. Now I am feeling better than I have for a few weeks and the appetite is back so I will have to watch what passes these lips. At least I am beginning to feel like cooking again so I will have to get to work on some SB legal dishes. I am planning on making FILLISE's Crab Quiche sometime this week - maybe tomorrow. Good luck with the job search.

TV - Sorry to hear that you had such a stressful week. Hope this week is better for you. I know it must be very worrisome having an abnormal pap test but I hope you can take some comfort in the fact that the repeats are often negative. I hope you can get it done again soon.

Mel - There must be more overweight people in Florida than there is up here in the north. I hope the birthday cake was finished when you went back in

Viv - So sorry to hear the news about your Dad. I hope you can convince him to get some assistance.

BusDeb - Welcome to the board. 14 lbs in five weeks - that's a great start.

Lizery - Down another pound. Way to go!!!!

All for now. I will try and get to chat tomorrow night.

Till then.

Marie.

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I know absolutely NOTHING about SugarBusters other than my doctor suggested it. Up until I had my last child (5 years ago), I was always in shape. I didn't lose my weight after I had my daughter, got depressed, and tailspun right on up the scale, so now I'm looking at 135 lbs to lose. It's very depressing....I'm just sick about it. Anyway...are there general guidelines to this program that someone could share with me?

Thanks...I look forward to meeting you all.

Good Tuesday Morning:)

Wasn't able to get on the computer last night, Michael had a ton of homework to do. We finally just went to bed instead of waiting up for "my turn".

Got my walk in this morning, the usual 4.5 miles, 17 jogs in 54:45. Was a bit painful doing it today, somehow, someway I got 2 nice blisters on my left foot and boy, my sneaks rubbing on them didn't feel so great. I think I will take off tomorrow so I can let them dry up a bit. Either tomorrow, or maybe Thursday, since there is no school and maybe we can sleep in-I'll see how I feel come tomorrow.

Scale is down 2lbs from yesterday, but still up 2 from my ATL-hope and pray it goes down some more tomorrow!

VIV, my hopes and prayers are with you and the tough situation you are dealing with with your Dad. Keep your head up, I'm sure things will work out in one way or another.

GATOR, I'm hoping FROG running in the WDW MARATHON will bring us up that way. I know BOB and I would come, and I'd hope LAMAP and the new Florida gals who've joined the board will as well! We'll all decend on SOLS house!!!

BUSDEB, thanks for the nice words. Thanks for posting your pic on the PHOTO ALBUM BOARD. It's always nice to have the opportunity to put a name with a face:) You are really doing well on this WOE-keep up the great work AND the great attitude!!!

BOB, are you in mourning over the sauce? I'll just have to have extra in your honor next time I go there! That's really a sin that that happened:( Sticking up for your man, I see! I guess the love of coffee is REALLY a lot stronger than I thought!

MEL, congrats on overcoming the birthday cake test! Trust me, as time goes on, you will be easily able to resist anything like that that comes across your eye range. You find that you won't even give stuff like that a second thought soon.

THUNDER, if you only ate the meat off the pizza, then it's okay, if it's the whole pizza slice, well, that's another story. Sounds like you did pretty good under the circumstances. I keep saying, one day, I'm going to make pizza, I do miss it once in a while.

LIZERY, CONGRATS, another pound!!! Hope WIW tomorrow brings more good news your way:) Isn't it wonderful to feel revitalized and new, just by doing something as simple as eating healthy and exercising! I think I'm in better shape now, at almost 40 then I've ever been in my entire life! Keep up the great work!!!!

LINMAE, thanks for checking in-hope life winds down for you a bit soon!!

ROSALIE, hmmm, I didn't think about an option like that for the poll, but I put one there that I hope you'll be able to chose as your choice.:) Of course, Eli is back in my good graces, FOR NOW. He just loves to drive me batty some times. My wish for my birthday is to just have NO aggravation from anyone-when anyone asks me what I want for my birthday I always say the same thing-peace and quite, no fighting and clean bedrooms-doesn't cost a red cent-do you think I EVER get what I want - NO:nono: I think we can all relate to the MM post-we all want instant graficiation, that's how our society is these days. Some things though, you just can't have instantlt, and we have to realize that-those who don't will not succeed in this WOE or any other "diet". Hmm, I'll have to think about your scale challenge for next week;)

CJANE, WELCOME TO THE BOARD We'll be happy to help you in any way. Have you purchased the SB BOOK as of yet? If not, it's something you do need to get, at least go to the library and check it out there. Also, see if they have MICHAEL MONTIGNAC'S book there as well, he explains about this WOE a bit more in detail. The SB SHOPPERS GUIDE is a good little pocket-book to get until you get familiar with the foods. There are things that are NOT in the book that you will learn in time and there are a few things that aren't made too clear-all this will come in the learning process along the way. My best suggestion at this time would be to go to the link below and check out this site made by a gal who's been following SB for quite a long time-it gives a good premises about this WOE. http://www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters Again, please, don't hesitate to ask questions!

Time for me to go find something to eat, had an Asian pear for breakfast a little bit ago, may go make my milkshake.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TONIGHT'S CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!!

Have a great day!

Happy Tuesday!

How's everyone doing???? I'm hanging in there! Another day, another dollar!

Meliris-Pa sounds nice, I was laughing at your term "McMansions".
It made me remember about a show I was watching on Pa. It was kind of sad about the farms being bought up, and these big "McMansions" were being built with large lawns, etc......I prefer the farms myself! Didn't pass my typing test. It was pretty cut and dry, if you could do 55WPM, then you got in for an interview..oh well. I'm not that unhappy at my work, but was hoping I could have had an opportunity to interview at least! Geez!

Liz-That's so cool, you got your picture on as your avatar. I like that idea! You must have found something small enough to scan eh? Happy face, with a beautiful smile! You go girl!

Cjane-Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! Where about in Tenn. are you from? You will become pals with BOB (aka Big Orange Babe)
I would suggest going to your local library to get the Sugar Busters book for starters, just get it and read! Then we can worry about getting you a book of your own. You can do it!

Solshine-You will find something that is just your cup o' tea! Call that personnel office at the hospital and say "WATZ UP?????"
The BBQ sounded lethal! I'm not a big okra fan, but I love the BBQ stuff!

BOB-Buzz.....buzzz....buzzzzzzz. I'm still here!!!! Moarning the loss of your BBQ sauce along with you and Skeeter who I'm sure benefited from any left overs! Is life getting back to normal? All light bulbs working at the casa?

Gotta get ready for work...will chat later... Nancemeister will be having a new e.mail address in the VERY near future FYI....will let you gals know,as soon as I know what it will be!

Morning Ladies - It is so nice to come and scan the posts and see the nice words of support that are here. It really helps - I have great support here but for some reason hearing these things from pals around the country is, as my 11 yo would say, KEWL! I realized as I lay awake during the night, there is a cliche...."YOu can't help those who don't want to help themselves" or something like that. I guess I just have to wait it out....:( - but I also need to remember that I didn't create this situation - in a lot of ways, he made his bed... so thanks...

As always, I have to get back to work...

I wanted to say welcome to the Newbies! :D Is this some kind of mass defection from the SB board? Doesn't anyone moderate that board? :?: 3fc is a great place to be, and you will get all the support your need from us fellow SB-ers and especially our GODDESS, DEB! So, welcome!

MEL - wanted to say thanks for the thoughts, but also - I have an 11 YO son too! Interesting age, huh? We must share some insight some day!

Rhroo - I hope you're having a better time. I totally understand what it feels like to be depressed - I just read that 20% of women will have some form of clinical depression at some point in their lives -higher than men. Which makes me wonder if men contribute to those odds! It's hard to figure out, tho, if the depression is from inside or outside, do you know what I mean?

KIMMI! BABE! Thanks for the email! I'm so glad things went well!

DEB - Get that Ebay-ing back in gear, girl! I'm going to nag you now! I need a buddy to share the fun with! The funniest thing was that Harrison wanted a series of books - we could get them from the library but certain books I like to own so Brendan can read them...someone on Ebay was selling them - they had sold 3 sets so I emailed them and asked to buy another set direct, for the highest price they had sold at, s I didn't need to deal with bidding. They said they had no more sets. OK. Yesterday I noticed that they had posted another set - was able to win the set for $8 less than it had closed at before! HAHA! They should have taken my offer!!!!:s:

Toodles, took up more than my allotted time. Hope everyone has a good day....keep your fingers crossed that my dad does too!

Hmmm, I did not get on the scale this morning. Not really an act of self control, I just got dressed right out of bed. I only weigh in the morning when I'm bucknekked. If I have clothes on anything the scale says in meaningless:o .

BOB--actually I did not enjoy the UNC defeat of FSU. I grew up and NC State fan so I despise the tarheels. That color blue makes me nausous. I love nothing more than to see them pulverized on a Saturday afternoon--even more that I like seeing Bama creamed. It's worse during BB season. State and UNC play this coming Saturday--I'm hoping they'll have a big let down after beating FSU. I'm so sorry about the BQ sauce. I'm looking forward to my class reunion in NC in 10 days--I can get decent BBQ (of which there is NONE in Alabama) there.

Viv--goodness, so sorry to hear that your Dad is sick again. It sounds like there is not much you can do but worry. That's a pretty helpless feeling--even if the situation is his own doing--it's still hard to watch them have to deal with it. I'll be thinking about you in this difficult situation.

Cjane--Welcome! I second Deb's suggestion to try to find the book. It really does help to understand the relationship between glucose and weight gain. The web site Deb recommended is also terrific. The short story is that we try to eat food that raise blood sugar very little or moderately. We stay away from refined flours, potatoes (except for sweet taters), corn (in any way shape or form), white rice, and, of course, sugar (in any and all of its forms). We try to protein (lean meats, beans, cheeses, milk, etc.), low or moderate glycemic carbs (whole grains, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes, etc.) and fruits and veggies (except for beets, carrots, watermelon, ripe babannas, and pineapple). You have to do a lot of reading labels--especially in the beginning--as so much prepared food has either white flour or sugar in it. We try to consume 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30% fat in our diets. Different individuals may vary this slightly--but it is a good overall goal--especially in the beginning. Everyone on this board is very helpful--so if there is anything you don't understand--just ask!

BusDeb--Welcome! I live in Auburn. It is nice to have another Alabama chick on board. Those FLA gals think they own the joint! It sounds like you are off to a great start!

Marie: Enjoy the quiche. I gave the recipe to my Mom. She made it last weekend and she and my Dad both loved it. I hope you like it as well.

Liz: Welcome--gosh so many new SB chicks--this is wonderful!

Gator: Uh-oh. I was looking at my calender this morning and realized that I'm going to be out of town the weekend of the AU-UF game. My Uncle is getting married in NC that day. I really wanted to meet you! As for parking--if you would like, I can try to reserve you a spot at the First Presbyterian Church parking lot. It is at the corner of Gay and Thatch--right across the street from the campus (near the hotel and conference center). It's very convienent. Our youth park cars for a $10.00 donation (goes for their summer youth conference). Let me know and I will make a reservation if you would like!

I got my workout in yesterday. 60 minutes cardio and my five strength machines. It feels so good to sweat! I'm having a yard sale this weekend to get rid of all the clothes that are too big for me. I have some nice suits and stuff, so I'm hoping they will sell and some women who have a hard time finding clothes that fit can get some for very little money. Deb--I know you are a yard sale expert--any advice for a novice?

Have a good day everyone!

Susan

Good morning, good morning, good morning. It'
s rainy here too but not in my soul. Am taking some needed rest. In my "rush, rush" life I need these pockets of down time to read posts, drink coffee, and relax.

Bob-:( So sorry about the BBq. I'm lucky to get out of BJ's with under $200 so YOU ARE MY HERO!

MELF--CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :D I am sooooo happy for you!!! You deserve it! Can't wait to join you. Saw 160 peeking briefly yesterday but back to 161 today. So countdown to my massage. Thanks for the Hodgson Mills tip. I need to save some $$$$.

Deb-I was all for the rebounder when I thought....what would those boobs of mine do???? I might get knocked out. Glad to hear that Eli is human and now out of the dog house. That's why I don't take Peter shopping. So do you always have all those celebs hanging out there in Florida? Sorry I missed out on predicting your loss. Have to be more attentive in the future! Had a touch of flu going on here too. Not able to work out yet. (no nearby bathrooms). Although, today I can tolerate coffee for the first time so there is a rainbow. I was the lone--do religious posting and then none for a while---how did you know?

Welcome! Chunky Barbie--I liked Debs shortened name of CB too. Welcome to this wonderful bunch of loser babes!

Amser-Glad those angel wings are still beating.

Mel-Glad I'm not alone in the lack of patience department. I bet your babies would rather you ran away from that cake than stay eat and then be guilty and later miserable about the weight.

Karen-I've got a floor for you to do now. Glad you have your head on straight now. Care to take a crack at mine?

Rhoo-congrats on the "you both look soooo good" comments. Fall is wonderful too. Take time to enjoy it. ooooh noooo dear baby hates the bus? Why doesn't she like it? Hang in these supermom.

Fillese-I'm so happy to hear you get to pick those lower sizes!!!! Feels sooooo good !!!

Sol- Two gals of water. You are awesome. I understand the urge for great BBQ. We have a place here called Pierces Pit BBQ near Williamsburg. Good thing it is so far away or I'd succumb on a regular basis. Bob will have her hands cut out to keep me away when we visit Williamsburg. I also felt a twinge last night when a cooking show had how to make fried green tomatos. I had to turn the channel.

TV-OMG what a week you had! Come over here for your big {{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}} . What happened with 9 year old? Was it a permanent or baby tooth? Could they fix it? Hows the baby?

Viv-I'm praying for you and dd for strength. It's awful enough without dad being ornery. Where did I hear that term??? hmmmm.

Busdeb-Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! Another school bus driver and mom of three. We're pals already I know it. Isn't this way of eating great? I love it. Congrats on all your loss already.

TW-I'm in the habit of eating pizza toppings too. Some day I'll be smart like Rosalie and carry pitas with me to scrape them into.

Lizery-I love your face avatar. Such a happy smile!

Linmae-Good to hear from you!!

Cjane-Welcome to our humble group.

Nance-I'm sooo disappointed. I was already to celebrate your new job with you. Maybe there's a good reason we don't know about. They lost quite a gal.

Last question. Apple Cider. Love it in the fall. Is it legal?????? I would guess no but hope hope hope :^: yes.

OK - another new day. I had a sorta "breakdown" last night and got some of that load I was carrying off my back. I guess we can all use a really (and I mean really) good cry now and then! I do actually feel rejuvenated this morning.

One more update - DH now has strep throat. He's is absolutely miserable! He did apologize for being so difficult this weekend, and of course, blamed it on not feeling well. I guess I'll let him off the hook. ;) Normally we get along just fine - just once or twice a year it seems we have our bad moods at the same time. All in all, he's a good guy and I wouldn't trade him in for anything!

Deb - thanks for the support as always! My oldest actually broke the tooth when he bit on a hard sucker! It is a baby tooth and I didn't realize it until the dentist showed me, it is worn down something awful!! We compared the same tooth on the other side and the difference was amazing. He said that tooth was getting worked over worse than the others because of how his bite is right now. He will have to get braces later to get him all lined up. He just smoothed the edges off the tooth so it wouldn't stick him and left it since it isn't hurting. The x-ray showed the permament tooth is right there, so he said the broken one will probably come out before we have to do anything else to it. Of course, he offered to crown it, but said we would just have a $200 tooth to put under his pillow in a few months. Glad to have a dentist who is honest!!

Viv - I'm with you on the soap opera! :dizzy: Sometimes I think I could write a book, and sounds like you could too!! Hang in there. We'll be keeping you and your Dad in our prayers.

cjane and liz - WELCOME!

Rosalie and Meliris - thanks for the kind words.

BOB and Gatorgal - I knew you 2 would be celebrating that little upset over the weekend!! HOWEVER, you should do it while you can, the big Auburn game will be coming up soon and then the crying time will start!!

BusDeb - Welcome and I'm a N. Alabamian too! Huntsville area, what about you?

Check in later!

Two days in a row can you feel the LOVE???? I need you guys and this board and all the motivation (as i drool over my kids muffin!!) I have the will power i know that now but sometimes i just don't wanna use it! LOL I am feeling better still don't feel like eating-a good thing?! Its apple season here (i live near the place Johnny Appleseed was born!) so the kids think i am a human apple crisp maker!!! they love the stuff and i do too! lol i know i could make a legal version if i just would do it! I am staying away from it (i make a biggggggg 13x9) I am one of those don't like left over persons! am i babbling?! LOL
I am sitting here with my nephew -I am such a sucker i got my daughter in school and sis in law asked me to watch him tues and thurs for 5 hrs a day-he is good but i just can't say no. I guess he will keep Brianna busy when she gets home. I did tell her i would do it but also told her not to get mad at me if i backed out-which i intend on doing after xmas! :dizzy:
I was trying to think of some tips and since the poll was about journaling here are some we learned at WW: PUt your journal near the fridge so you can write it down directly cuz ya know you won't remember-was it 1/2c or 1/4???HMMM Get one of those dry erase boards and tack it somewhere and jot it down on there daily if that would help. I guess i should get back to my journaling i bought a small $1.00 note book and just write it down with some thought through the day and what i did for excersise. I crack up when i look back. I was also thinking about things that i like now that i have lost some weight! and things i don't! LOL Maybe Melf could make a list too then the newbies would have some motivation!
1. I love my thighs not rubbing together when i walk
2. I like my shadow when i walk now!
3. I like the single digits on my pants!
4. I like looking more like my older sister!
5. I like my daughter calling me skinney!
6. I like being able to run after a 5 soccer players for 1/2 hr!
7. I like the looks on peoples faces that have not seen me in a year (actually since i started Sugarbusters)
I have to think of the things i don't like i have started a mental list! LOL There are alot more things i like too.

So ashamed of myself :o for not being here lately. First I was laid up and feeling miserable and then the WTC tradegy happened and I was glued to the TV. I felt so bad for victims and families.

The reult? :?: All that sitting around and eating comfort legal foods caused me to gain about 4#. must have made me do it. Then self pity, self hate and shame came into play. How could I post after being such a failure. Then I started to get a grip and I realized how much I needed you all, but still could not post.

Today I just made up my mind it was now or never. Last night I started reading last weeks Board and finished up this weeks today. So many new members, I welcome you all and hope to get to know you better. So many with various hard times and I was too selfish to be here and offer the support they needed.

Hopefully you will all let me start again! I never really left, I was just truant for a while.

On the good side I have continued with my volunteering at the nursing home, have resumed my libraian work for the choir, and since Body Recall has restarted I have been exercising the past week. Also I saw an article in the paper about the community theater needing volunteers and am now helping with the newsletter and other written articles for them. I am also going to help w/ the box office. As some of you know, I have been stitching to have some projects to put in a consignment shop. I feel I have enough now for a display and just have to frame them, which in my funk, I had put off doing. So now you know I am really trying to get back on track.

As a result of all these endeavors I have lost 1 1/2# :D

So, hopefully you will say all is forgiven the prodigal daughter may return!

Take care. Your erring friend, Shirley

Good evening ladies!

Hope everyone is doing great this evening!!!!:D I have really enjoyed today its been so beautiful outside.:smug: I opened all the windows in our trailer last nite and turned off the A/C and boy did it get cool. Almost had to get up and get a quilt but didn't want to leave the warm spot in the bed.:D The A/C has been off all day today and I even opened the doors and let them stay open it was so pretty. I have a question, we found some new cereal yesterday at Super Walmarts, I need to know if they are legal or not. The first one is Puffed Red Wheat--The ingredient is Whole Red Wheat. It has no kind of fat, no cholesterol, no sodium, it has 67mg of potassium, 12g Carbohydrate, 2g of Fiber, 2g protein, and no sugar. The other one is--Puffed Brown Rice, Ingrediant is Whole Brown Rice. It has no kind of fat, no cholesterol, no soduim, no sugar, 48mg Potassium, 14g carbohydrate, 1g fiber, 1g protein. Any help would me appreciated. My husband said they taste like Sugar Smacks without the sugar. Lets all remember our military in our prayers they are going to need our prayers for some time now. My dh nephew is in the National Guard and they put them on stand-by today, he just graduated high school in May and he just turned 18. This is what he wanted to do and he said thats what he trained for and hes ready to do what it takes to keep our country safe. His grandmother is not taking it well so please pray for her that she doesn't have a nervous breakdown. Well fixing to have to go cook supper will post later tonite. Everyone have a great nite. I have church tonite so it will be late when I get in. Will try to make the chat if I can. I would love to chat with you all.:)

Fillise--YES! We are definitely interested in parking in the Presb. Church parking lot for the game. But the driver, my husband or my friend's husband, wants to know how easy is it to find, how easy is it to get into on game day, and if it is impossible to get out on game day. Men always ask these questions, so I'm passing them on. Perhaps we should e-mail. My e-mail address is on the bio page 1. We usually drive from Calloway to Auburn and park in the hinterlands. So we have not gotten a very good view of the campus or town--just the WalMart and big box stores we see coming in from the interstate. Thanks for the offer.

Deb and all Florida Gals--Of course!! We can get together when Frog comes down here to run the marathon. I think that will probably be on a Saturday. Should be fun. SolShine, get those flowers growing!!

I agree that will power is often easier during the first weeks and months of SB. After that, there are days when we "just can't stand it" and go "wild.";) You know what I mean. Our fearless leader has set a good example for us all, so let's try to follow her and stick to plan.

Here is a pix of a mighty Gator getting ready for his next meal. Woof. He is a SB Gator and eats lots of protein. Woof, woof!

Evening All:wave:

Got a few errands done today, threw Michael off the computer so I could get in a post - and also made it clear I have all rights to the computer from 9pm - 10pm tonight! The problem is though, I went to test the chat room and it's NOT WORKING!!!! I am going to e-mail Suzanne in hopes she can get it up before tonight, but I doubt it-oye vey, I'm sooo upset! I was so ready to chat with you all tonight!!!

I try not to think too much about the goings on of 2 weeks ago, but it seems on every newscast that there is some new development that has a tie to South Florida. The latest I have to admit, does weigh heavily on my mind. I'm sure you've heard that crop dusting planes were grounded for 2 days and today that ban was lifted. It seems one of the terrorists went to Belle Glade, which is in PB County here in Fl, asking lots of questions a few months back about crop dusters. Officials worry that the intent of use was for biological or chemical warfare. Today on the news they mentioned that a man fitting Attas description went to a Homestead, FL bank looking for a loan to start a crop dusting company-Homestead is just south of me, where I go to the Super Walmart. Also, they mentioned that 2 people were seen trying to scale the fence of Tamiami Airport-a commuter airport that is exactly 1 mile from my home:eek: They didn't find anyone, don't know if that's good or bad at this point! Also, with Bin Ladans threat that he will attack anywhere where there are Americans and Jews is also not something I want to hear, esp. when you think of the large Jewish population we have here in Miami, esp. Miami Beach area. So, this does weigh on my mind, though I try to not let it, but it's hard. Just thought I'd share what's on my weary mind.

I wanted to let you all know that I've been in touch with a gentleman that works for the company that imports AGAVE NECTAR, who, by the way is up in Ontario, CA. They are the ones who sell the agave nectar to Cucamonga and Sweet Cactus Farms and they are going to soon be marketing their own product in 8oz and 12oz bottles, which is nice to hear, I can't wait for the bigger bottles to come out. Anyhow, he's sending me some things, one being a jug of agave nectar-whoops, he says we need to call it syrup, the FDA doesn't like the word nectar I believe he said. Anyway, he sent me a recipe, but I haven't had a chance to open the file on the computer yet. He sounds VERY nice and will answer any and all questions regarding the agave. I'll let you know when the package arrives. I'm going to have enough agave to be like a mad scientist in that kitchen - could spell T R O U B L E!!!!

NANCE, glad we got in a short chat this morning:) Keep your chin up, you're gonna find the perfect job soon!!! {{HUGS}}

VIV, you are so right, you cannot help people who don't want to help themselves. It goes for many aspects of life-for me, when I was younger, everyone wanted to "help me" lose weight, but ultimately, until I was ready, no one could help me. Just know that you are doing your best with your Dad under all the adversities, like being so far away. GODDESS DEB? Hmmm, I'd rather be called the Queen Mum! LOL!!!! You do know how to brown nose, don't you VIV-afraid I may bring the traveling DETOX DUNGEON to a city near you soon?? I do need to get back in gear, after the first of the year, I promise, back on Ebay! I hate going near the PO during the holidays! Good going on the books!!!

FILLISE, I too only weigh buck naked-but find myself stripping when I'm in my loungeware more than just in the morning - it's truly a sickness! If the clothes you have are really nice, why not see if there's a consignment store in your area and try to sell them there-you'll probably get more for them. Then anything they don't sell, either put in your next garage sale, or donate them-just another idea.

FLY, you sing so nicely!:D Okay, no one has worse boobs than I do, and if I can jog with a regular bra, you surely could rebound in one too. I do think I should look for a sports bra though-wonder if they make them with an underwire-I HAVE to wear underwires or those twins of mine will slip below the cracks! Sorry to hear you're not feeling well-NANCE sounds like she has something like you do-the two Dookie Queens!

TV, I think a good cry is cleansing! Gets rid of all that pent up emotion. Sorry to hear DH is sick-hope he gets well soon. I'm sure not doing the crown is a good choice, geez, $200 for a kids crown? The tooth fairy will just have to work with whatevers left when it falls out;)

RHROO, I'm in shock! Two days in a row of posting-you never cease to amaze me! Why don't you make my BLUEBERRY BUCKLE RECIPE, but instead of berries, used slice apples-I bet it would be delicious-and it would be legal to boot!!! I'm with you on the journaling, if I don't write it down right away, I tend to forget, and I too bought mine at the Dollar Store, cheap enough. I'm on my third one now.

AMSER, I loved the graphic you posted of the lady-cute one

BUSDEB, I hope you and TV can meet up one day. BEACHFAN is in Birm. as well-it's so much fun to meet other gals from the board!!!! Keep up your positive attitude, we love it on this board!!!!

SEF, glad to see you posting-I got your e-mail, but haven't had time to respond, I'm so backed up with e-mails, it's not funny. Don't be so darned hard on yourself! Geez, you are only human. We've all been glued to the tube for some time now, you're no different than anyone else on the board. Look at ALL the good you do and be proud of each and everything you do!!! So you had a little set back, your back in the drivers seat now. You caught yourself befor it got too out of hand and you've already lost 1 1/2lbs of the 4 you gained. There's nothing to forgive, or to say you are sorry for-we all go through this in one way or another. I missed you I must say-I hate no having your sense of humor not being seen on the board for so long!!!! {{{HUGS}}}

THUNDER, windows open? Cool? You are so lucky!!!! We have to wait a few more months for that to happen down here-and then it's so short lived! Though, last year, I must say, we did have a beautiful winter down here, that was after the flooding we had, that happened to occur on my birthday! The cereals, well, puffed wheat is actually high on the GI, coming in at 74 on the scale, and I guess the puffed riceis as well, coming in at 90 on the GI. I do believe that it may be due the processing. What I would say is, if you want to eat it, go ahead and see how you do, if you see no reactions, then it's fine. PLUS, you must remember, when you put a low GI food (milk) with a high GI food (cereal) you get a moderate GI ranking-so unless you are eating it right from the bag, dry-I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just try not to eat it each and every day and again, see how your body responds to it. Hope this helps-though it's just my opinion. I ate it at the beginning of SB before I realized the GI of the puffed wheat, and I still lost (but I stopped eating it).

GATOR, woof, woof? Do you want them to die laughing? What gator do you know that goes WOOF, WOOF??? LOL!!!!

I'll let you all know if I hear anything before 9pm tonight about the chat room-if anyone is able to get in there, PLEASE, let me know via e-mail along with the link!!!!!

And of course, I most definitely have to remind you that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I wish you all a lot of luck with the metal monster tomorrow!!!!

See you later gals!

UPDATE!!! I got an e-mail from Suzanne and she had NO idea the chat rooms were not working:

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen! I'm still working on it. If nothing else, I can make a temporary page for you all to go to to get to the chat, but you'll have to log in manually, it won't incorporate your forum id. What time is your chat scheduled for?

Suzanne

So, on this note, I'm hoping to get back an answer in time for tonight's chat-so do stop back onto the board for the latest update!!!![:D

LIZERY, many people have had this same phenomenon happen with not being hungry - you MUST make sure you get enough food though, because if you don't, your body will go into a starvation mode and will hold on to every pound of fat you've got after a short time-so try to keep track and make sure you are getting enough of what you should be getting :)

Hello Everyone!!! Hold on to your seats . . . Big Q is back with a LONG post. I’m sure that’s going to shock the socks off most of you. Newbies, I’m an oldy moldy with a bad track record these past few months. Please forgive.

Thyroid report: Saw the doctor today. He took off my bandages and says that everything looks great!!! Yay! All the further tests done on everything removed came back good!!!! Super YAY!!! And I don’t have to go back for 4 weeks. They’ll draw blood in 3 weeks to monitor my thyroid and then I’ll see him after than. Thanks to all for prayers and kind words. I feel great. My neck is still very tender on the outside, but that gets better with each day. I don’t think I’ll have much of a scar though. It’s still swollen where the veins are trying to grow back together, but that’s very small. Looks like the incision is only about 3 inches. The funny thing is that when I first saw it, I thought for sure it was inches. Now I don’t know if my neck was really swollen that much or if my perception was a little skewed since that was my neck with all that blood over it. Funny, huh? Anyways, that’s it for the medical report. I’ll probably go back to work in a day or two. My boss is so great. She told me to take all the time I need. I thought earlier today that I’d try for Thursday, but I’m thinking now that may be pushing it. I had to have two naps today after I cleaned the bathroom. So I may not be as close to 100% as I thought.

Anyways, it’s good to hear from you all. Looks like we have new people coming to the BEST BOARD IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!! Happy to have you all here.

DEB---Hey! Thanks for the motivational Monday. That was great and so true. Really hit home for me. Also thanks for putting CB’s initial post on this board. I am one of the guilty ones who doesn’t roam about on the other threads. So I know I miss a lot. Glad to see that you were down 2 lb this morning. AWESOME!!! Once those blisters pop, you may be down more! Ha!

CB (Chunky Barbie)---Welcome to the board! Hope you find tons of support. I know you will. And hope you have lots of successes that you can share with us. You can share anything else you want too, but just hope for your sake they are all successes!!!

AMSER---Hey, Girl!!! I just wanted to say thanks again for all the emails and cards you send. You are such a good friend and I appreciate all the times I think about you. And I know I don’t tell you that enough. So please know that I do appreciate you even if I don’t say it all the time.

MELIRIS---You made me LOL when you talked about the motivation hitting a target on your forehead. That was so funny. But I can relate to what you are saying. Hang in there! Keep up the good work. It will pay off in the end. (No pun intended!)

RHROO---Hey, chickeeta. Sorry to hear that you are down in the dumps. Man, having the stomach flu sure can’t help a person’s attitude. That’s purely bad timing on its part. Anyways, I hope your spirits start to lift soon and that you are back to your old fun-loving self. I’m sure it’s not too far away. You sound way too busy and that’s not going to help either. Maybe you will see a light at the end of the tunnel of activity soon and you can have a breather. Work real hard to get that stomach yuck kicked to the curb and you’re bound to feel more like yourself. You know, it could have been coming on your for a few days which could have also contributed to your low spirits. Hang in there. I’m sending positive thoughts your way. Can you feel them yet????

Hey FILLISE---I just thought of something funny. Why don’t you change your password to something like “forgot” or “cannotremember”. Wouldn’t that be funny? I’ll bet you’d remember then. I used to have a billion different passwords. That was a huge mistake. I had to take that situation by the reins, because I was all the time using the wrong one. So I know how you feel.

SOL---Okra???? I love okra. I went to college in east Tennessee. So I certainly know what good, great, the best barbecue is all about. I’d love some good old friend okra right now. (Sorry everybody, but it’s the truth!) There’s a place in either Blountville or Bluff City called the Ridgewood. Little tiny place stuck onto the side of a hill with the smoke house right outside. Oh, I loved that place. The waitresses were really big (a true testament to how good the food was!) and I was happy to hear that it’s still in business 20 years later. Mmmmm, you’ve got me homesick now. Ha!

TV---I know everybody has already said this to you but here’s my turn. GO GET YOURSELF ANOTHER DOCTOR!!!!! NOW!!!! Please don’t wait 3 months. I don’t know anything at all about cervical stuff or anything else for that matter. But I do know that an abnormal test means somebody needs to take another look. So there. Just in case you needed another “mother” to give you advice, you got it. You will feel so much better if you go talk to somebody else. Could be the test was read wrong too and another pap could clear it all up. It’s worth it for your peace of mind if nothing else.

BOB---So sorry to hear about the loss of the sauce (hey, that rhymes!). What a bummer for you and everybody else who would have gotten a taste of it. Yes, Maddie is glad I’m home. She’s so funny. Was not happy at all while I was in the hospital. Dad said she would go outside, but didn’t potty the entire time. I’m not sure if he just missed it or if she was truly “holding” her own little potty strike. She was happy when I got home, but very careful around me. It was quite interesting. Now she’s back to her obnoxious ways.

LIZ---Welcome. Glad to hear that you are really stoked to be a part of things here. It’s a good group. Wonderful source of support and friendships. Good luck!!!

Hey ROSALIE---How are you??? Had to tell you thanks for the kind thoughts. And also had to add a hearty AMEN to your thoughts on housecleaning. I am with you there, sister friend!!!! I hate it. Truly can’t stand it. I’ve read all these cleaning and organizing type books and none of them help. My mom always did all the cleaning when I was growing up and when I tried it was always wrong. So I think that’s some deep seated thing. Not that I’m blaming my mom. She was just trying to do her best, but I wish she’d have trained me because she always had an awesomely clean house. It’s not genetic, because I didn’t get any of it.

CJANE---Hello and WELCOME!!!! You will learn a lot at this board. We have some wonderful experts with so many great things to share. Plus the SB book is great too. Someone once suggested to read the SB for kids book because it’s a better explanation. I’ve never done that, but just thought I’d share that with you. Good luck!!!! You can do it!!!

NANCE---Hi FRIEND!!! Hey, I’ve lost track of what’s going on. But since you took a typing test, I’m guessing that you kicked that other job to the curb and you’re pounding the pavement. Good luck. I know you’ll find something soon. You’ve got so much going for you. If anybody doesn’t hire you , then they are just plain fools. How’s that for a PEP talk????

Well, that's it for me. I'm going to check out the new Spin City tonight since MJF (that cutey) is coming back on. So I'll try to check in at the chat.

Bye.

Hey Ya'll!

This has got to be quick, because I'm running late, but I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Your words of wisdom and encouragement are very much appreciated!

I wrote a big ol' response last night, but was on my son't SLOW computer and it booted me off. I couldn't get to chat either...but hopefully next week I will be able to join you.

My first day was pretty good! Had some homemade chili that I cooked in the crock pot last night (with no tortillas...a fave of mine, of course). Lost of chili beans, lean hamburger, tomatoes, green chilis. It was really yummy!

I didn't buy the book because to be honest, I can't afford the 25.00 right now! I bought the little store guide thing, and that helped a lot.
Of course, I do have a couple questions for you all! :)

First..."cream of" soups that have "wheat flour" ... are a No...right? Doesn't say whole wheat. Even though it only has 1 gm of sugar? I'm a little confused there.

Also...what about salad dressing...anyone have any good ideas for that?

I will check back in from work...just basically wanted to say thanks, and I look forward to meeting you all!!!

BTW ... BOB ... I am just south of Franklin, TN. Where are you??? We just moved here from Southern CA about 6 months ago. I love it!!!! However, since there was no NFL team in So. Cal, I am not a big a football fan...however, I am becoming a Titans fan...how can you not be??? I am a diehard Laker fan though!!!

Anyway...have a great day!

Good morning all. I believe fall has finally arrived in my part of Texas. A cool 65 right now. Played 18 holes of "bad" golf yesterday and didnt even break a sweat. 80 degrees.

WIW has not kind to me either.
5 lb gain. Hoping tom is the culprit

A little sadness in my extended family. My husbands step-father lost a son and daughter in law over a week ago. A barge hit the Causway going into Port Isabal and cars on the Causway did not know it at the time so they just fell in the water. They recovered one body on Sunday and the other body on Monday.

Welcome to the newbies, this is a great board with lots of support. No meaness here.

Well guess I better end this and try and eat some breakfast. I have a full day today.

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone!

Just got in from my walk/jog. I didn't take the day off, since I was up and dressed I figured tomorrow, being there is no school, would be better to not walk-hopefully, I'll be able to sleep in! I was only going to walk, but ended up doing those 17 jogs and puttig in 4.5 miles as usual-though I must admit, the blisters were REALLY bothering me more today-weird how I would get 2 on the same foot after wearing the sneaks all this time.

Well, TODAY IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!! If you'd like to post your WIW results on our WEEKLY WEIGH IN BOARD please click on the link below:

http://64.119.161.199/forum/showthread.php?threadid=9635

For me, WIW is okay, the scale is taking a downward trend the last couple days, I weighed in at 125 for today. Still up from my all time low, but only by 1lb. Hope everyone has good news for today:D

THANK YOU to all of you who joined the chat last night-it was fun! At first I was worried is was just going to be BUSDEB and I, but one, by one you started popping in-it was good to chat with you all!!! I hear after I left a few of you were chatting until 10:40pm!!! That's great to hear!!!!!

QUILTER, it was so good to see your post and then for you to show up in the chat room-as well as being one of the last to leave!!! So good to hear you are feeling better and everything is going well:D {{{HUGS}}} Oh yes, I am watching CROSSING OVER every day! I'm glued to the TV during that hour-usually crying! I'm going to try and either get tickets or a private session with him-wonder if I'll be successful:?:

BOB, in your honor, I'm meeting Eli for lunch today at SHORTY'S!!! I'll make sure I sop up some extra sauce in your name! Michael can't wait for the Mole to begin, Survivor starts Oct. 11 - me, I'm glued to THE AMAZING RACE and LOST-they're both good, and both on tonight!! Eli was surprised about Starbucks closing a store in your area, that's a rare thing for them to do. They seem to be really moulding him to be a Area Mgr, though he doesn't think he wants that position-we'll see what happens, it's still about a year away.

ROSALIE!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://members.aol.com/debelli/woo_hoo.jpg

RHROO, are you trying to shock me to death? Three days in a row, must be some kind of record for you-shall I count on 4 for tomorrow?? You were at chat? Hmmm, you must of been late, I stayed on til 10pm-sorry I missed you:(

CJANE, chili sounds yummy, I love just about anything with beans, though, those around me sure don't! LOL! You don't have to buy the book, you must have a library in your area you can check it out at, don't you? If not, you can easily get a USED copy, HALF.COM has quite a few, and I can get you a $5 coupon on any $10 or more order-so do keep that in mind, and if you are interested, just let me know!! At least you got the SG, and that's helpful. With the soups, can you list all the ingredients, it's better to analyze this way. For the wheat, usually that's an enriched wheat product, which is a no-no:nono: BUT, if it's like the last thing on the ingredient list, it may not bother you at all. Salad dressings, I usually got for the full fat, or possibly the reduced ones-we don't buy much bottled dressing in our home. Eli makes a very easy salad dressing with garlic, salt, lemon juice and olive oil. If you have a TJ's near you, I bought a bottle of their reduced cal. Greek Dressing which is WONDERFUL! Just read the labels, on salad dressing, you really want to make sure there's no sugars, corn syrup, etc. in it. When I go out to eat, if I'm not sure, I ask-I tell them that I can't have anything with sugar in it or I'll get deathly ill, so they check, rather than think I will die on their floor! LOL!

CAT, oh my gawd, that's awful to hear about your DH stepfamily! That's an awful thing to imagine having happen. How many other cars went in the water? Tell your DH we send our regards. For the gain, don't worry about it, like you said, it's probably TOM and may be due to stress as well. I saw my scale go up 5lbs in the past 2 weeks-be patient, it will go back down. Hey, send me some of that cooler air, will you??

Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY! so if you have any SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow:)

I'll check in with you all sometime later today-hope you all have a wonderful day!

THE SCALE FINALLY MOVED 175/153/13? DOWN 4 FROM LAST WEEK. I may have overexercised a bit, but it sure felt good looking at the metal monster this morning!

Wecome back Quilter- Glad you are feeling so much better. You must have sat around thinking up one-liners and rhymes for your first long post-operative post! Take it easy tho- why clean bathrooms now?

sef- Take it easier on yourself. The board is here for support, not to help you beat yourself up! Glad you are back.

Nance-Too bad about the typing, keep your chin up.

Gator- Do they really 'woof' in the wild? Gosh, I'd think it was a poodle and try to pet it.

Sorry this is so brief- the board sure was busy last night!
Hello to all the newbies and everybody else! I have to run to work.

Good Morning Girls!

Nothing to report on the scale for me....same o'', same 'ol......been having dookie problems for a week, had some blood work done, and everything came back negative....now it's the process of elimination! (No pun intended) Could be a bad flair up if irritable bowel syndrome, most likely due to stress. My sister told me B stress vitamins work well, does anyone take them? Besides being a regular roto-rooter, my weight is not down. Can't figure it out. Just going to move forward and know that it will pass.

Congratulations to all you loosers! Rosalie you are smoking! Keeping up the great work, sounds like you are over your plateau and on your way DOWN! MELF How does it feel? Share your thoughts with us!!!

Sorry I missed the chat last night. Didn't have my thinking cap on....was very tired after work yesterday and my tummy was bothering me, had to stick close to the porcelin goddess.

Well, gotta get ready for work, just wanted to say "HI" and congratulate all those who are doing so well satying OP, you are all my mentors...especially Fillise. I keep watching you go down and down!

Hope everyone has a great day! :)

Scale stayed the same for me this week - that is good, because having such a depressing week last week, I have to admit that I cheated once or twice (OK maybe even more), so I am happy to remain steady.

Chat was so fun last night! That was my first time ever to do anything like that. You gals are terrific - I am really motivated.

I'm at work, so better get after it.

WIW official results - 159/146.5/125 since 6/04/01 even for the week!

Debelli--LOL! That’s not the sound a gator makes. That’s the sound that the latest little snack that he’s gonna have makes. Just ask SolShine! Actually, the sound of his latest “victim” will be yip, yip. I know. You SEC gals are just waiting for us to topple and then you’ll be cheering. The Gators are fun to hate. Actually, we are very nice. Just ask BOB. I’m pretty nice, aren’t I, BOB??!! Melf?? SolShine??

I didn't weigh today. I'm still waiting. Probably will weigh the first Monday of October. Then will probably wait another month, and see how I'm doing month by month. If I don't lose any pounds week by week it gets discouraging and I get tempted to throw in the towel. But I know that I can drop at least one pound per month, and that will not discourage me at all. So, a week from Monday I'll step on the metal monster.

Can't talk much today. Have French tonight and want to study a little more. Also have some chores, garden work, laundry, and I meet with a friend at noon. We meet to pray for our kids once a week, and this is the day. I'll pray for you, Butterfly.

Exactly the same. I haven't lost any weight in two months.

OK newbies: don't get discouraged by this! I've lost 63 pounds on this WOE. Even though I haven't lost any weight--I still see progress. My tape measure has been steadily shrinking. I'm buying smaller and smaller sizes of clothing. I went back to the book--esp the chapter on women and it talked specifically about women not losing pounds but still loosing inches--and this is what is happening to me right now. I'll take progress any way I can get it! I'm also thinking there is something hormonal going on here as well. I stopped taking my BCPs because I was bleeding continuously--My body may be readjusting to like without hormones too. I am also pretty certain that I am adding muscle mass because I've been working out regularly and there may be a little trade off there for a while. Anyway, what I'm saying is despite my frustration with the scale right now--is that you have to stay focused on the big picture. The scale cannot be the only measurement of your progress!

And you see--this is why I like new folks on the board. In giving you advice--I just talked myself out of a funk!:)

CL--I'm so sorry to hear about the loss in your DH's family. I will keep your family in my thought and prayers. Sometimes it is ok to do what you have too just to make it through!

Gator--I will email you with the details for the parking. The church is easy to get in and out of. I've parked there and had no problem.

BOB--I will let you know every detail of the reunion! I'm really starting to look forward to it. I got my hair cut yesterday--I told my stylist--"no pressure, but I'm going to my 25th reunion in 10 days." He really took his time and "sculpted" my cut. It looks quite sassy, If I do say so myself. Looking forward to Commodor meat this weekend!

Merlis--congrats--4 pounds is Great! Is there really such a thing as over exercising?????

Nance--you and I will be buddies on the "stuck" wagon this week. Hang in there!

Deb--glad you are down again! We have no consignments shops in town--the one we had closed. I'm getting rid of this stuff, one way or another. If it doesn't sell it is going to goodwill! It should be a gorgeous, cool day here on Sat. That ought to make for a good turnout!

Everyone else--have a good day--I hope this scale moves in the "left" direction!

Hi ladies -
Goodness, a real flurry of activity here lately, huh?:p

Scale seems to have stayed the same for me, really need to get my act in gear with only 4 lbs left to goal. It's ridiculous. Now that it's getting darker earlier, I need to bond with my treadmill again since it's too dark to walk outside....that's not something that thrills me either - really enjoy walking in the neighborhood and critiquing everyone's landscaping! :s:

Congrats to all the losers, and to the maintainers!

Dad situation still lousy, placed a call to him this AM, no answer....I've been desperately trying to reach the social worker he had a while back, no rsponse yet....just to get some guidance. Getting old sucks. That's the gist of it. Thanks for all the support, info about situations you've been through - they really help. :^:

Have a good day, ladies!

No surprises on WIW – I hope MARIE has better news. I’m down .5 lb. from last week to 198, but still not back to my all time low on SB of 196. I’m hoping my new “routine” will help the exercise be more consistent and profitable. I’m also cutting out all “sweet” legal foods for right now. I find myself craving sweets an awful lot. Of course this is TOM week and that’s when my body starts SCREAMING AND DEMANDING SWEETS…..NOW!!!!!!! I’ve done pretty good at resisting, but knowing there’s SF ice cream in the freezer is not helping. I may have to break out the blender for one of DEBBIE’S milkshakes.

Well, nothing new on the job front. I’m practicing my Pivot Tables in Excel since I found out one of the job interviews will include a test on this. I haven’t used Excel in over a year and I have NEVER had to make pivot tables. I was a whiz on the things we did do in Excel, but I’m pretty nervous about this. I wish they would test me on Access instead.

I have tried to get into a routine this week so that I don’t squander the day as is so easy to do being at home. I keep thinking about things in the yard that need to be done, or cleaning or cooking or something I could be doing when I need to be looking for a job, sending out resumes, following up and studying for competency exams. I’ve been getting up eating, exercising and then settling into my day as I would normally do with a job (just moving my work-out to the morning from after work). Yesterday I went to the gym and did weights and then 15 min. on the treadmill, but at a much more excelerated pace. Today I went walking in the neighborhood and I felt so good at my turnaround point (which would make my walk 2 miles even) and decided to go around the WHOLE loop making it a 3.5 mile walk. It took a little over an hour and I was dragging cement-filled legs by the last few blocks, but I made it. Now I think I have blisters on the balls of my feet. Oh well, I DID IT!! and it’ll only get easier, right?

DEBBIE – Before I forget…..PUBLIX had your Dinosaur Eggs! I couldn’t believe it. I bought 6 since you said they were sooooo good. Vince and I have been having them for snacks this week. They didn’t have too many at the store, so I doubt if they’ll be there when I go back. Uncle Jones’ is right up the street from my house and we will pass it on the way home from watching FROG kick butt in her marathon. They don’t put the sauce on the meat – you do that at the table. The ribs are soooo tender and tasty that half the time I don’t use any sauce at all – they do make their own sauce and I can tell you it’s yummy!

TV – so sorry you’ve been having a rough time – it’s good to continue communicating with us so we can help lift your spirits when you need it most. Congrats on holding your position regarding your pap….Meister’s blood work came back showing abnormalities in his liver enzymes and he immediately called and started asking tons of questions (that man can ask some questions!!!). They told him it was nothing to worry about just come back in about 6 months and they’d re-run the blood work. He said ABNORMAL doesn’t mean “nothing to worry about” – there’s a reason for that lable. So he called another Dr. for an immediate 2nd opinion. Sometimes I don’t get how unconcerned the medical community expects us to be when it comes to our health. It “may” be nothing, but I want to that and I want to know it NOW – no patience when it comes to my body – I plan on needing it for a long time! Thankfully they aren’t all like that – like your dentist who was honest.

VIV – so sorry to hear that things are getting agitated in your soap opera again. I love that picture of you and DEBBIE where you’re smiling! I’m going to keep that picture of you in my mind and pray that you’ll be smiling even bigger than that soon and more often!

GATOR – I can just smell those collards all the way down here! We certainly have some TRUE Southern women on this board, don’t we?!? You ABSOLUTELY MUST try Uncle Jones’!!! You won’t want to eat BBQ anywhere else!

BUSDEB – WELCOME 14 lbs. is AWESOME!! I’m battling my body not wanting to get ride of it’s friends. It’s so attached to the fat that it’s just not coming off very quickly at all so I love to hear other’s having great success. Thanks for posting the picture, too! Great to have a sweet smile to go with sweet posts.

MEL – WELCOME!!! Congrats on resisting the cake! Every little step we make to staying on plan makes it that much easier the next time. I wouldn’t go places where I might get tempted and then I started bringing my own stuff (like MELF’S Zucchini Pizza to a pizza party) and last night at Bible study our hostess brought out the most yummy looking homemade chocolate chip cookies. I just sat there and drank water while everyone indulged. It wasn’t that hard THIS TIME. :D I’m sure your family understands and they want to see you succeed as much as you do. They can be your best cheerleaders as you share your victories with them. I see tons of DBA jobs down here – wanna come join us FL gals?? Lockheed-Martin has a huge location down here and I’m going to see if there’s a position being created that would match my skills with their new defense contracts. My problem is that I’m a report wizard and I’m dangerous with Access, but only threatening with SQL, VB and Excel. I don’t have a computer degree, just self-taught and on the job training. I’m a very quick learner and can quickly master any specific skills a job would require, but so many of the positions seem over my head and secretaries don’t make as much as I was making – nor do any of the administrative positions open seem as challenging as what I was doing. (Not picky or anything like that…. )

MARIE – I see the steel monster was good to you today! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Pulled pork is when they cook the pork where it’s so tender it just falls off the bone. It’s served in a million pieces and it’s just sooooooo tender and good. Pit BBQ’s I think produce the best pulled pork. Usually it’s tough or semi-tender but still tough enough to slice. Pork done right can’t be sliced because it’s too tender and falls into pieces. I also go back and forth between journaling religously for a month or so and then not at all.

CJANE WELCOME! The more information you can read the better prepared you’ll be to be successful. The links that DEBBIE has so kindly placed at the beginning of each weekly thread and the books are a good start to arming yourself for success. I get most everything I read from the library. I even go there to do some surfing since their computers are so much faster than the one I have at home. We look forward to getting to know you!

LIZERY Great Grin!!

NANCEMEISTER – You’ll find the best job for you, too!! I’m looking forward to the Happy Dance for both of us! Nothing like enjoying going to your job every day. I’ve been very blessed to have been looking forward to work for 3 years – I’m not about to “settle” for a job. I’ve heard that God’s timing is perfect and I’ve seen it in action – I just wish it lined up with MY timing sometimes….. :) I hold onto Ephesians 3:20 in my mind at times like this – It worked when I was ready to be married with no suitors in site. :D Now I call Meister my “Exceeding Abundance”!

FILLISE – Those baby-blue wearing BOYS called our MSU Bulldogs “Busch League” when they played us in baseball one year and I’ve hated them ever since….but it IS nice to see FSU humbled a bit. Vince-Meister wanted to go back to Smokey Bones where they were yelling “Go to He** Florida Gators! Go to He**!!” last time we were there and change the wording a bit. (Meister is a Gator fan, if you couldn’t tell.)

FLY – Sorry to hear you got a touch of the flu and GLAD to hear you’re feeling better! I didn’t make my 2 gallon goal, but oh, well…..I’ll definitely be more attentive to how much water I’m drinking! Everything has gone out the window with being home and looking for a job – I’ve neglected everything else, so it’s time to get into a routine so I don’t have to play catchup in every other area of my life. Sending lots of prayers your way!!

RHOO Glad you’re on the road to recovery!

SEF – ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) Been wondering where you were!! You’re ALWAYS welcome here!! People come and go as they please, but we’ve always got a seat saved for them to come back to. BOB can even make room on the wagon if you need to climb up there. We’ve all had a hard time seeing our country so vulnerable and despised by sick, sick excuses for human beings. I’ve run to comfort food, but hopefully didn’t do too much damage. :s: A friend of mine always says, “When the pressure’s on – GIVE!” That’s what you’ve been doing and I’m sure you’ll be feeling back up to snuff soon enough!!

QUILTER – GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU!!! GLAD TO HEAR ALL GOOD NEWS, TOO!!!

To those I missed – sorry, but I’ve been on here way too long! I may not post tomorrow so I can maximize my study time, but I’ll be thinkin’ ‘boutcha!!!

I am enjoying reading all the great posts! Congrats to all who lost weight this past week...and congrats also to those who may not have lost weight, but who stuck to their program!!!

I had some whole wheat toast for breakfast (I haven't been to the store for my first SB shopping trip yet...) but noticed after I ate that it had corn syrup in it. Ugh! Anyway...it was stone ground whole wheat nonetheless...and I will be careful when I buy bread at the store!

Deb...I used to live in CA and had TJ's on every corner...now I'm here in TN and they are not! :( I LOVE that store! I have to find some kind of healthy store here...

Not sure what's up for dinner tonight...probably chix breasts. I need to be as creative as possible since I have 13 year old son who is kinda picky...but not too bad. I think certain enchilada sauces would be okay...he likes chicken cooked in that. I also have an almost 5 year old daughter who would live on fruit and veggies if I let her ... so she's easy to please!

Anyway...thanks again for all the great words of wisdom! See ya'll later!

Liz,

You are off to a great start! One thing I've learned on this WOE is to listen to my body. So I'm much better at eating when I'm hungry. I'd say that if you are not hungry--don't eat! The exception to that would be for meals. Never skip a meal! Sometimes I find I'm not really hungry at mealtime, but if I skip then all of a sudden I find myself famished--and that's when I'm most likely to inhale everything in sight! So I try to eat my meals on a regular time table. The only other time I'd recommend eating a snack even if you aren't hungry is if you next meals is going to be later then usual. Again, that keeps you from getting so hungry you toss good judgement out the window!

Evening All:wave:

Went to meet Eli for lunch at SHORTY'S, ws good, but seemed to not agree with me a bit later. Hormones must of kicked in afterwards because I kept tasting BBQ sauce:eek: Decided to go for a vanilla Carbolite at Norman Bros. with reluctance, I sorta felt if I ate it I'd get sick, not such a bad thing-so I went and got it, and went and got sick. Hey, I'm not complaining-usually I show a loss on the scale when this happens!!!

Weather is pretty nasty here today-lots of lightening and thunder, though not much rain-was like this yesterday, but with rains. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

My late TUESDAY TIP was brought about from something GATOR mentioned she went through over the weekend, going out to dinner for a friends b.day where a cake was served-GATOR, hope you don't mind me using your example However, I also had a bit of cake. They brought the cake from a local store and since there was just a small group, I didn’t want to cause any notice, so took a piece and “nibbled” at it, leaving all the frosting and some of the cake.
I had just read something in a book I had recently bought that I remembered once I read your post, so here it is:

SAYING "NO, THANK YOU"

Sometimes it seems so hard to say "No, thank you" that we almost think of it as a major achievement, something only certain people are capable of. We imagine that it take extraordinary finesse and skill, not to mention lots of practice. Actually, it doesn't have to be that difficult at all.

Here are some simple ways to t urn down that piece of homemade chocolate pie, or that gin and tonic:

* "No, thank you. I've had all I want."
* "Thank you for asking, but I don't care for any."
* "That looks so delicious, but thanks anyway."
* "I'm very tempted. That looks so good. But no, thank you."

There are endless variations, all of which require a gracious and appreciative but direct demeanor. The real question here is whether you're going to please yourself or the person offering the food you don't want. Is it more important to say yet to your host or to stay committed to your own program? If you're appreciative and smile when you say "No thanks", you'll feel better and your host will feel fine, too.

THUNDER, sorry I missed you in the chat room last night, my hour was up and I promised Michael he could have the computer back before it got any later. There are many things in the book that need clarification, you'll either ask or learn in time-for instance, the book says APRICOTS have a GI of 7, it's 57-it's a typo they didn't fix. There's unanswered questions that I don't believe the writers of the book can even answer. I have don't agree with some of the ways they put the book together, but then again, I wasn't asked my opinion on that-I like Montignac's book, he's the one who wrote about this WOE first and explains things in better detail. CONGRATS on losing inches, the scale will follow soon:)

FLY, hey staying is better than gaining! I'm sure you'll rise above any adversities you are struggling with at this time. You know we are all here for you-and surely, we'll pray for whatever it is that's bothering you:)

MEL, CONGRATS! WOW, 4lbs, that's awesome!!! Geez, when you scale decides to move, it really gets going!

NANCE, Just going to move forward and know that it will pass.
Pun intended on that one? Hope you're feeling better. Tell LDBLOND I send my hugs to her when you speak with her!

TV, glad you stayed the same rather than go up. That's good motivation to be extra good this week so next week you can have a loss:) You did good with keeping up in the chat room last night, being it was your first time, like I said, it can get real hairy in there sometimes when there's a lot of us-but it's all fun!!!!

CJANE, you could do it that way, many people don't keep track of what they eat, as I do. BUT, there are other ways you can do it, like if you had the old WW points, you could keep track of points like that program, but use SB rules and foods. I think what may be more important is to make sure you are getting enough food, a good percentage of fat, carbs and protein (though don't forget your calcium and fiber). If you don't, you'll be crying in a few weeks that you aren't loosing, if you eat too little calories your body will go into a starvation mode, if you don't eat enough protein, your body may start craving more carbs-you want to make sure you get it all balanced in your daily foods. Trust me, keeping a journal really isn't all that hard. Many of the gals use www.fitday.com-I personally like a paper journal. I suggest keeping one, at least at the beginning, it truly does help. Congrats on getting on the TM!!! Soon, we'll be saying CJANE RUN! Love TJ's, I'd live there if we had one here! Ask NANCE when I came to stay with her how many times I went in 1 day to TJ'S! It's a true sickness with me!!! You have NO idea what my suitcase contains when I go anywhere that has a TJ's!!!!

GATOR, you have such willpower with the scale, maybe some of that will rub off on me in January!!! Good luck when you do WI!

FILLISE, have you fluctuated up and down with the same range, or stayed exactly the same weight for 2 months? The reason I ask is because, if you think about it, I can say almost the same thing. Thirty days ago, I weighed exactly what I do today. August 1st, I weighed the same as I do today, so for almost 2 months I can say that I too have stayed the same weight, but have I really? Don't worry, it will start moving, I think your body is just taking a bit of time to re-adjust itself (meaning, I agree with what you said). You have to think forward, this is the point that in the past I would of given up because I was so pist off that I was trying to hard and nothing was happening. It wasn't til I started SB and keeping track and BEING PATIENT did I realize that the body is so complex and that with patience I would finally see the scale give way. I don't think you will have that problem, as you are seeing results in other places than the scale, which is good. Would you PLEASE get a picture with the new do and post it on the board?????? Good luck with the garage sale Sat., make lots of $$$ for your new wardrobe!!!

VIV, keep us informed with what's going on. Four pounds to goal isn't so hard, but I think your focus is on other things right now and those last 4lbs will come off in time:)

SOL, I think you may of missed ROSALIES post on the first page-go check it out! I think you are very wise to cut out the legal sweets, I think they can cause too much trouble. A once-a-week treat is okay, but those seem to always turn into a daily thing, or worse. Pivot tables? I have visions of tables that pivot! I am totally computer stupid! Old dog rarely learns new tricks! I'm surprised that Publix had the Dinosaur Eggs, probably expensive, though I hope not. Did you like them? Uncle Jones sounds good. When we went to Shorty's today, they have a article that appeared in a magazine of the best BBQ places in the US, there are 2 from Orlando-one is called O-BOYS REAL SMOKED BBQ adn the other is JOHNNY RIVERS. I didn't look at the date of the article, so they may not even be around anymore, just thought I'd tell you though:) Congrats on losing the 1/2lb, you'll get back to your low in now time!

LIZERY, did you see my reply to you question that you asked??? Do you have any idea just how much you are actually taking in daily??

Okay gals, I'm off for now-will try to check in sometime later this evening.

Have a good one!!

Hi Friends! Had a good day today. But must say that I’m not ready for autumn yet. Haven’t done the official closet transfer so I’m grasping at straws for something that covers and warms. Right now I’m sitting here with two pairs of socks on, Paul’s slippers, two long sleeved t-shirts (one is thermal) and I’m wrapped in a blanket. What will happen in January??? LOL

Hope you all had great days too. That CHAT sure was super good fun last night!!!

CJANE---Your chili sounds wonderful. Our temps here are so low that chili sounds like a perfect thing for supper this week. Thanks for the dinner idea!

RHROO---Thanks for the list. That’s a good way to look at life. And it’s a great wake-up call that all of us could probably use at one time or another. Especially me right now! Thanks for thinking of it and taking the time to type it in. I so enjoyed the chat last night too!

ROSALIE---Another pound down the drain. GOOD FOR YOU!!! You must be feeling great. Good job!!!!! Missed you on the chat last night. Were you watching tv?????

CAT---So sorry to hear about your family’s loss. What a senseless tragedy that hurts so many people. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

DEB---Yes, I had such fun on the chat last night. We are so lucky and have such a GREAT group. It’s a pleasure to be back! Glad to hear that the scale is cooperating these days for you. 125 is such an awesome place to be sitting. Tell me what it feels like!!!!! Hey, Crossing Over is NOT on here during the daytime. AT least I haven’t found it yet. But he is back on Sci-Fi channel at 11 p.m. They had switched it to 8 p.m. but I kept forgetting to turn the tv on at that time and missed him. So I’m kind of happy that he’s bacvk on at 11. That’s usually when I’m ready to turn on the tv and wind down. Oh, I think you should try to meet with him. I have always wanted to do that. He came to town here a while back and we heard about it on the tv show. They used to list upcoming appearances in the different cities. Guess he was doing a tour then. Well, we called and called ( a bunch of us were trying to get through) and by the time we got through it was sold out. I really was disappointed. Two of the women I work with have lost close loved ones. One lost a son in his teen-age years and the other woman lost her husband very quickly. I really wanted both of them to get to go to get readings from him. I was sure that the husband would show up too. Anyways, let me know what you find out. I think a private reading is $300 and then it’s extra if you bring in other family members. Go to his website and you can read about it there. Maybe he’ll come to Miami soon.

TW---Good to see you on the chat last night. Thanks for joining us. It’s fun! Don’t feel obligated to stay the whole time. We all just come and go as our schedule dictates. It’s okay that way.

SUPERFLY---I’m all over your challenge and sending good positive thoughts your way. Also said a prayer just now for you. Hang in there!

MEL---FOUR POUNDS, FOUR POUNDS, FOUR POUNDS!!!!!!!!! That is so terrific. I am doing the happy, happy, happy dance for you. Way to go, you awesome and powerful woman. Thanks for the kind words. If you’d have seen my bathroom, you would take back your question. It was really over ready to be cleaned. I was watching Martha Stewart this morning (yes, I’m one of the ones who actually likes her!!!) and she was giving bathroom cleaning tips. So I actually took notes. How’s that for being a fanatic. She also had a great segment on there about making your own scented bathing salts. I’m going to try it. Looks really simple and I think it would make wonderful gifts. If I start NOW maybe I could get some ready for Christmas presents!

NANCE---So sorry to hear about your dookie issues. That’s not good or pleasant!!! I hope it’s something that can be fixed in a jiffy with one pill and you’re all back to normal with smooth sailing (so to speak!). And as for the scales not moving, you’re probably just gearing up for a big loss next WIW. You know how that works, nothing, nothing, nothing, then BAMMMMO off come two or three pounds all in a whirlwind!!!

FILLISE---You are awesome!!! You took a bad thing (not losing) and turned it around into a good thing . . . helping others. That’s so fantastic that immediately when you shifted your focus to think of all the newbies and search out the good in your situation, everything took on a new perspective. That’s great. Way to go.

SOL---You did great today on your walk. 3.5 is awesome. GOOD FOR YOU!!!! I admire you getting up and tackling the day just like you were still going to a job. That’s the way to be. I took a year off and did freelance graphic design out of my home a few years ago and I was not disciplined about this. Really wish I’d been more organized like you. Sounds like you are really working hard. BTW, where did you get that pres. Bush quote you sent me about the $2million missile? That was great.

Well, you know who just got home. So there must be discussion of supper now. Better get going..
Catch you later.
Kim
I didn’t weigh. I’m scared to and I don’t want to get down in the dumps and slip off that blasted wagon again.

It's late, but I wanted to check in. I won't have time for individual remarks, but I send everyone
(((((HUGS))))))

Fly: You'll be in my prayers. Let us know when the crises passes.

Cat: Saw the picture of the bridge in the Dallas paper. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Please send regards to your husband.

I'm down two pounds from last WIW. I was down 2 more on Sunday but went right back up. This body is really doing weird things. Maybe mid-cycle stuff. I can't wait till it stops. :o

Chatting was fun last night. Got the brownies made for my son and packed them in the box without eating any of them!! I must admit that I licked my fingers a couple of times out of habit. Isn't if funny the things we find we did before, taste everything - several times- while cooking. DH took the box to the PO and they said it should get to Annapolis by Friday. Hope so. BD is Sunday and I don't know if USNA receives and hands out mail on Saturday.

Quilter: So glad you're on the mind. And thank goodness test results are all okay.

We've thrown open the windows the last couple of nights and it's actually kind of chilly right now. .I LOVE THIS WEATHER!!! Perfect for the great State Fair of Texas. Our school district still gives our kids and day off to attend, right in the middle of the week. Luckily, I teach so I'm able to be off too. We go every year. Only thing is, what am I going to substitute for a State Fair Corny Dog??

I found a picture my sister took of my back in July when we went to Playa del Carmen. I'll get it scanned asap and post so you'll have a face with this lovely prose.:smug:

I really must get my beauty rest now. Hope I can post more tomorrow.

Okay! I misswed WIW by aminute or 2 it's 12:02a here. I did not gain but did not lose any more of the 4# i gained. But do you know something? I found two "bumps" at the base of my neck!! I think there called collar bones? I didn't know I had those any more!!!!!

Had such a busy day. Went to Body Recall and then to choir room. I really did too much, took me three hours but I finished an entire filoe drawer, making new folders, repairing music sheets etc. :dizzy:

I came home, had some lunch read the Board, wrote some email, made supper and went to choir practice. I was going to let the posting slide, then though  isnot going to get me!! So here I am!! :D

Besides all the nice encouragement from you all has made me see the light children. I have seen the light and I will not falter (well not too often! ;))

Thunder - Isn't it great to be able to open all the windows and turn off AC Thunder - Isn't wonderful to be able to open all the windows, turn off the AC and smell fresh air. Slept with the windows open and used a sheet. Did turn off the fan directly over bed.! I must still have have moutain blood, they were talking in choir about using comforters last night!!

Deb: Thanx for the email and words of encouragement on Board.

Listen girl, with your now fighting weight and buff tone from all that walking Big Ben would not dare miss with you!

I was thinking about having to do things for yourself. The 12 step programs say you sometimes have to hit rock bottom before you decide to change your life. I think that's what I have done, and after being so smug about my loss and stick-to-it-tive-ness I really panicked when I gained. I hope I am back on an even keel and more aware of the pitfalls I place before me!

Liz - Nice to meet you in chat last night. I handle the not feeling hungary bit by still eating something, no matter how little for a snack. If I don't then I feel hungry sometimes at meals and then over do. One of the things I haven't been doing the last couple of weeks was following some semblance of a routine. I'm don't have my feet in concrete and therfore refuse to change, but a little routine is good. At least that's MHO!

TV - Don't really know you, but as you can see I have an opinion about everything. I hope you get to a doctor for a scond opinion. You don't fool around with your health!

Rhroo - Nice chat last night. My butt would hanging pretty low over the back of that famous wagon, but if there's room here's my hand :) give me a tug will you?

CJ - Hi, we're new to each other too. When I first started I went to library for book (money is a big consideration for me) after reading it I thought "Ican handle that" and here I am. I never eat the cream soups and I love soups. I am going to experiment with using the WW flour. It made delicious gravy for Beef Stroganoff. I like the SB salad dressings, and Ken's Blue cheese ( low sugar gram, 1 I think) Paul Newman's is supposed to be legal too, but his Italian is the pits!

CAT - Condolences for your family's loss. That tradegy sort of got pushed aside with all the WTC news. But it wasn't any less important to the families!

FLY - Hey, you stayed the same. I did too. At least we didn't gain!

Mel - Thanx for kind words.

Know I missed somebody nut I am really tired! I'm just glad you are all here and so helpful! Will check in tomrrow.
Take care Shirley

Deb--

No, I didn't see your post! I don't know how I missed it

As far as WIW I KNEW I would be down more without my salty rice LOL. I weighed this AM and I was 246.5. Hope to continue to see this downward trend. Anyone else see such big fluctuations??

I am still trying to get the hang of this board, I get confused. Bear with me! :^:

IT'S 9:00 AM - DO YOU KNOW WHERE DEBBIE IS????

You must be still out walking. I hope it isn't computer problems. I thought you and NANCEMEISTER were the queens of early morning. :)

I came on to lurk before heading out to the gym for my weight lifting day.

LIZERY - I had to get on a schedule of eating because I was consistently NOT eating enough. Then I was fluctuating drastically between 1000 calories one day 1600 calories the next day and still 2100 calories the next day.....800 calories the next....you get the picture - anyway, drastic fluctuations like that will keep your body off kilter as much as anything else and can prevent the weight from coming off as we would like. This is what I did and it seemed to help (DEBBIE helped tremendously on figuring out the #'s that would be right for me to use!)
A Figure out how many calories you need for your body every day
B Figure out ahead of time what you will be eating that day so that you can keep your ratios/numbers consistent across each day
C Figure out what works for you re: 3 meals/day, 5-6 meals per day, 3 meals with tiny snacks, etc.... and stick to it.
D Journal, weigh and measure EVERYTHING until you get a good handle on what's what
E Do some kind of exercise consistently

When I got consistent with my eating (calories, ratios and times) the weight started finally coming off. If I'm not hungry but it's snack time I eat a piece of fruit or something protein-ish (yogurt, cheese, etc.) knowing that I need it to meet my calorie requirements and that it will keep me from getting famished later in the day. I hope this helps!!

Good Morning....the Nancemeister was up at 5:00am. this morning! Debs will wondering why not walking, but I'm up drinking coffee and stewing over my meeting with Boss-man.....let's just say it was enough to "help" me find the extra-incentive to look "harder" for another job. Told him I hadn't had a pay increase in 2 years, and he said he couldn't help me out right now, hopefully in the future.....Needless to say my resume is being faxed to a couple of different places as soon as I get to that fax machine at work this morning!

 Hi all,

Have not even read the Board yet. I have a question for you all. Nothing to do with SB or weight/food problems.

Anyway..............flags are impossible to find. I thought I had one but must have left it on flagpole when I moved. My son asked me if I had one and I said no. Then Sunday for the children's sermon, the American flag was used. Then it hit me! I have a flag!

For 11 years I have kept my husbands flag that was on his coffin in a plastic case on top of the book case. We coud use that!

Then came the disagreement. My son said he did not think we should use it. I said his Dad wouldn't mind as he was a patriotic veteran and always hang the flag out every day. Ds said that the flag was special. I said all the more reason to use it. I know it's big but we could hang it high. He said there have been instances of flags being stolen, how would I feel if it was stolen?

And we really came to no conclusion. He will do whatever I want. We listen to each other's advice, but we don't always take it and there are no hard feelings as a result. He wouldn't be able to put it up until this weekend so he asked me to think more about it.

Soooooooooooo my question is, "Would you use your family member's funeral flag?" I polled the nursing home group. Will tell you their reply later.

Don't agree with me just because I am a sweet and wonderful person :D Like I say we agree to disagree!!!!!!

Will ook for your replies later, if you'd like to voice an opinion.

Take CAre, Shirley

Okay ladies...I PROMISE I'm getting the book this weekend!!! I have 2 real quick questions (i'm at work...so I can't reply to everyone right now!!!)

1. Is there any such thing as 100% whole wheat bread with no corn syrup? Am I just looking for it being 100% whole wheat, and make sure the sugar grams are <3, OR...do I read the ingredients for hidden sugar??? EVERY one I looked at yesterday had some form of sugar in it??? :?:

2. I guess is basically the same question. Do I look just at the sugar grams...or do I check the ingredients? All the salad dressing I saw too had some form of sugar... hmmmmmmmmmm...my little shopping trip tonight could take forever! :) But that's okay...I'm prepared!

I'll be more prepared with that book in my hand!!!

Thanks again!

Boy SEF, what a question! I guess you have to ask yourself how you would feel if something would happen to it. If you couldn't bear the thought of it being stolen or damaged, then I wouldn't use it. Is there some wall inside your house on which you could display it? I'm sure there will be flags in the stores soon. I saw on our news last week that there is a place in Milwaukee that makes flags and they have limited their size selection to 4 sizes so that they can produce more to meet the demand.

>>>Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this
>>> true?
>>> A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't
>>> waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding
>>> up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you
>>> can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live
>>> longer? Take a nap.
>>>
>>> Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
>>> A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay
>>> and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing
>>> more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your
>>> system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of
>>> field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you
>>> 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable slop.
>>>
>>> Q: Is beer or wine bad for me?
>>> A: Look, it goes to the earlier point about fruits and vegetables. As

>>> not animal, and they are not on the periodic table of elements, so

>>> A: You're not listening. Foods are fried these days in vegetable

>>> Q: What's the secret to healthy eating?

Karen--I LOVED yournutritional advice! A good chuckle is always nice early in the day!

Deb--I've stayed exactly the same for the last two months--there really hasn't been much fluctuation. It is as if someone has superglue on the 237 on my scale. I've checked it against the balance scale at the gym--but it also says the same. So, yeah, I guess my body is making some sort of funky adjustment. I guess after stuffing it for so many years, it probably thought I'd give up this WOE after a while--now that it has lasted more than a year--it is probably in some sort of SHOCK!

SEF--we had a case around here of a woman who used her memorial flag--and it was stolen! I know you would be heartbroken to lose it. One of the local print shops in town printed some paper flags. I have one in the back dash of my car and one in my living room window. Maybe you could do something like that. I don't think flying the memorial flag is disrepectful, but I'm not sure I'd risk losing it.

Cjane: I use Nature's Own Stone Ground Whole Wheat bread with no added sugar. You need to read BOTH the sugar grams and the list of ingredients. I'll stay away from something if one of the "hidden" sugars--and corn syrup would certainly be one--if it is one of the first 3-5 ingredients listed. Even if the sugar grams are below 3. If it is way down the list and there are <3 grams of sugar it is probably OK. You also need to look at serving size--if one serving of bread is one slice, then you might be getting 6 grams if sugar if you are eating a sandwich with 2 slices. All this is kind of hard at first--but after youlearn which foods are acceptable it becomes second nature.

Nance--you go girl! Find yourself something where you will be appreciated and REWARDED! Good people are always in demand!

Sol--that's really good advice you gave to Liz. That's another reason I'm always thankful for new folks--I always learn something from seeing other's answers to their questions!

BOB--I'm getting all spiffied up tonight to go to a political fundraiser. I'll try to remember to take my picture before I go!

Congrats to all of yesterdays losers!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:

Well, I didn't get to sleep in, the phone rang around 5:30am, it was SB calling Eli. The guy who was suppose to come in at 7am called in sick and he'd have to come in, oh well. Now, as I sit here, I wonder to myself, "should I go walk?"

Okay, I'm baaack. Even though I said I wasn't going to walk today, was going to take the day off, I decided to walk and got in 3.5 miles in 39:58 with 12 jogs. I didn't get my arse in gear until 9am though, but thank goodness it's an overcast day, so the sun wasn't beating down on me. Why did I bother walking-to celebrate!!!!! What's the celebration about you ask?? I HIT AN NEW ALL TIME LOW!!!!!!http://members.aol.com/debelli/woo_hoo.jpg!!! My patience has paid off, big time. I'm 123 today!! I'm happy, to say the least!!!

QUILTER, again, glad to have YOU back! Hope each day finds you feeling better and better. Hmm, how does it feel to be down on the scale-AWESOME! A high that no drug could ever give me!!! I'm surprised we have CO down here, wonder why you don't have it up there, except on cable. I'd love to get a private reading, even though there's at least a year wait, it would be a bday gift to myself. Hye, for this, I can be patient! Don't I wish he'd come to Miami!!!! Hey stay warm up there, gawd knows I'd trade some of that cool air for what we have down here any day!!!!

PHIRE, are you a lurker who's following SB, or just scouting the boards?:) Either way, welcome to our SB BOARDS!

BOB, what scale are you weighing on that show .20? WW? Hey, a loss is a loss, no matter how big/small it is! CONGRATS!! Honey, I don't care what I did to that Shorty's sauce, but whatever it was I'll eat it again as long as I get the same results on the scale the next day!!! Area Mgr. is sometime in the next year-nothing right away, not even sure he wants it, but will probably take it when offered to move up with the company-they know a good thing when they see it!!

BUSDEB, CONGRATS! Another pound! 15lbs down, it's a great milestone!!! I can't say that I get shy when people compliment my new look, for me, it's more that I can't accept a compliment, I guess since I'm not use to it. All I ever got in the past was "you have such a pretty face". Say "thank you" graciously and know that there will be more of those to come!!!

JRED, CONGRATS, 2lbs down is awesome. Don't worry about those other 2lbs, our weigh tends to easily fluctuate, and 2lbs is more accurate than 4 would probably be anyhow. Glad to hear the brownies got made without tasting, we won't count the finger-licking good part;) Have you tried to make any SB LEGAL BROWNIES? I said I'd try one of these days-but I have that terrible problem on not being able to stop at just one! Hmmm, someone a while back mentioned CORN DOGS at their fair as well, I think they did partake in one, if I'm not mistaken. This is my take on it, or the way I look at things like that...Hershey's was around long before I was born, and probably will be around long after I'm gone. They have yet to go bankrupt from me not eating chocolate this past 1 1/2 years and should I ever decide that I'd like a piece of their chocolate, it's there, it's not going anywhere. So, just think, this year, you don't have that corn dog because you find it more important to continue your loss, but next year, you may easily be able to enjoy that corn dog while you are maintaining a healthy weight with no problem. Of course, you could eat one this year, as long as you know that that's where it stops. For me, if I cheat once, there's no turning back for me, I continue to run with the ball, and I recognize this, which is the reason I haven't cheated since I started SB, I know me too well. BUT, if you're heart is set on this, go ahead, as long as you know it begins and stops right there with that corn dog:) Can't wait to see the pic!!!!

SEF, oye vey, you scared me there for a second when I read you found two bumps! Thank goodness you were speaking of collar bones!!!!LOL!!! Hey, better to stay the same than to gain! Honestly Shirley, you amaze me with all you do at your wonderful age! I get tired just reading about it all. It seems you are so good to so many people, just make sure you treat yourself best of all!!!! As for the flag, sorry to say, I would say not to fly that one. There were 65 flags stolen from homes in Broward last week from a kid who was planning on selling them at the flea market. I'm sure it would be devastating if this particular flag met up with the same demise. Just my opinion:)

CJANE, 1. You want to make sure the bread has STONE GROUND WW FLOUR, or a whole grain flour, and yes, there are many breads that don't have corn syrup. One bread many people who follow SB like is EZEIKEL'S BREAD-found usually in the local HFS in either the refridgerated or frozen foods section (since it has no preservatives). I ate that exclusively for about 1 year, but find it really best for toast, too heavy for a sandwich. I found FLOWERS SF BREAD a few months back and have been using that for sandwiches that I make. You just have to start reading labels. You'll be AMAZED to find all the crap they stick into breads these days once you start reading!!!! As for the sugar grams, under SB RULES you can have anything that has 3 grams or less of sugar per serving, but I won't buy bread that has any sweeteners in it if given the choice and selection. 2. I guess is basically the same question. Do I look just at the sugar grams...or do I check the ingredients? All the salad dressing I saw too had some form of sugar... hmmmmmmmmmm...my little shopping trip tonight could take forever! But that's okay...I'm prepared! Yes, read, read, read!! No one likes going shopping with me either due to this problem of reading everything. You have to know that if you see grams of sugar on a label, but no sugars listed in the ingredients, they may be natural occuring. When you go to the grocery store, check out a few things like MILK, PLAIN YOGURT, TOMATO SAUCE, just to name a few. Look at the ingredients, if they contain no sugars of any kind, but you see grams of sugar, these are naturally occuring. If you find something with sugar listed and it's way down on the totem pole of ingredients and there's no sugar grams listed, it means it's less than 1/2 gram (I believe this is the way it's explained) and they don't have to list it, by law, on the grams, but do have to in the ingredients.

LIZERY, CONGRATS for being down this week-what was your loss for the week? The post I did for you probably was on page one. If you keep track of your weight on a program like WEIGHT COMMANDER, or even on graph paper, you'll easily be able to see fluctuations, they are inevitable-just be patient when things happen to go up for no reason-I've learned this and it's helped me immensley.

CATLOVER, hmm, I swear I heard about something long ago how to deal with this problem, but age and brain power has let it escape me. Maybe I can help find an answer to your question somewhere.

SOL, I was here, then went to walk:) Have a good time at the gym today!!

NANCE, Michael says to tell you he misses seeing you on line! I moved your post over to this board and deleted the other one. Hope your meeting with Dr. No goes well today and he sees that you are over due for a pay increase-geez, the way you take care of things, the guy should be kissing your feet! Thanks for letting me know you'll be meeting with LDBLOND today for lunch-enjoy lunch and each other's company!!

KAREN, I've seen that long ago, thanks for posting it!!!

FILLISE, before you realize it, the scale will start to move down. With 63 pounds gone, I would say it's just an adjustment period that probably will be coming to an end soon-I can't wait to see your next drop!!!!

Gals, it's RECIPE DAY and I promise to get a couple recipes posted some time later today-just need to get off this computer for a while, been on here for ever it seems!

I hope you all have a wonderful day today!!!

Deb:LIZERY, CONGRATS for being down this week-what was your loss for the week? The post I did for you probably was on page one. If you keep track of your weight on a program like WEIGHT COMMANDER

My loss for this week is 6.5 lbs.

Where would I find the WEIGHT COMMANDER program? Online? I will look for it :)

I have been reading your posts here for the past couple days and thought that I would join in the fun.

I went on SB about a year ago and was somewhat successful (I lost about 20 pounds). My incentive at the time was my upcoming wedding. Once that incentive was gone, I got lazy and gained all the weight back. At least I didn't gain more.

Anyway, after going to the doctor this week for that oh-so-fun exam, I decided that it was time to get back down to business, so here I go.

I think it will be helpful to have a group that knows what I'm going through. I will post goal weights and everything next WIW.

Thanks for having a place like this for me to come for support.

Off-topic: I hope that I won't get beat up here - I'm an FSU fan. Go Noles!:)

A quick one...

LIZ, WOW, that's an awesome loss for this past week!!!! The WEIGHT COMMANDER PROGRAM, I think I have a link to it on the TIPS & TOOLS BOARD, otherwise, let me know and I'll send you the link. I've been using it since April 2000, though I must admit I don't use it's full potential. Download the sample he has, then decide. It's only $9.95 and well worth it. I think MELF has it too.

JMUIR, WELCOME TO OUR BOARD!!! We're so happy you've decided to join our happy family! That's great you are coming back to a WOE that you KNOW for a fact works. Best that you decided now, before you gained back more than what you had lost. I think once we snag the guy we tend to get lax with our eating. I know I sure did. My Mother told me, after I got married I seemed to balloon overnight, and she was pretty accurate-bad thing was, before I turned around, I was p to 284lbs:eek: which was only 3 years after I got married, which at the time I weighed about 160-165 (who remembers so long ago?). Oh don't worry about all the SEC fans on the board, their bark is worse than their bites!!! Oh, and have a great time at your Dr. visit!!!:D Those are truly something to look forward to, aren't the?!? Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD-it was nice to learn a little more about you:) Again, welcome!! PS. I love Harry's in Atlanta!!!!!

I'm going to take advantage of the gloomy day down here and take a nap before I need to go get Lauren at her friends house. I'll also look for a couple good recipes while I'm lounging.

Later gals!

Jmuir--Welcome to the board. What did you do differently that caused you to gain back the 20 pounds in just one year? Did you just go completely overboard with ice cream, etc. , or did you gorge on bread and potatoes? Your brief post reminds us that this is a lifetime W.O.E. and we probably should come to enjoy our healthy lifestyle for long term success.

As for your being a Nole fan, my condolences! What ever caused you to do something like that?!! Were you forced to go to school there or something?!! LOL
Nope, you won’t get beat up. We are all pretty nice here, but quite a few are SEC team graduates and fans. So there is a bit of sport discussion on the best conference in the USA.

And welcome to all the other newbies, too.

Basically, I ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I also got really lazy about shopping, so we ate out (or ordered in)ALOT. Next thing I knew, I had put all the weight back on.

As for FSU, yes I am an alum of the fine university.

Okay gals, I posted two recipes on the board-FINALLY. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone makes either one, I haven't yet, but may do the lemon one tonight if I get ambitious!

For those of you who asked me for the CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE RECIPE here's the link to the recipe board that houses that wonderful recipe:

Ok - I'm moving to Florida to join y'all!! It was 45 degrees yesterday am when I got up to run (I went faster than usual)and 49 this morning. I did weights and stationary bike, but could'nt get real excited about going outside. Ended up walking about 1.5 miles just so the dog could uncross her legs. I don't know if its the change in weather or what, but I seem to have no energy and am freezing all the time. Maybe not enough food? It was great to see a 4 lb loss yesterday from last week, but since I've been doing this for 2 months and am past the initial "large drop", maybe 4 pounds is not good. Ideas?

Gator- About this best conference stuff- it is definitely the BIG TEN. I am a Northwestern grad (though they usually lose at everything), did grad work at Michigan State, taught at Michigan, and my daughter is at Ohio State. Son will most likely go to Penn State. Brother #3 went to Purdue. Got quite a lot of them covered in one family living in Pa!

Jmuir- Welcome! As Gator said, your story reminds us all that we're in it for life. I know exactly what would happen to me if I went back to old ways-even in "moderation", if there was such a thing for me.

Sef- I think I'd weigh in on the side of caution re the flag issue. There have been sooo many stolen. I would hang it inside as someone else suggested. It's too personal and sentimental to risk. IMHO.

CJane- Hello and welcome. Yes, the first few shopping trips take a long time, but then you get used to it. I haven't had much luck with finding legal wheat breads without driving way too many miles, but have found whole kernal rye breads with no wheat flour at all at several groceries nearby. If you can live with slightly crumbly, and like the rye taste, they are great. Also, legal salad dressings are really easy to make. My favorite is olive oil, red wine vinegar. chopped sun dried tomatoes, chopped garlic, and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Blue cheese or feta dressings are also really quick and easy.

Karen-I loved the post. My dh and I both laughed and laughed over it. Particularly the wine, beer and chocolate.

Liz- Awesome numbers! Congratulations. I would eat when hungry- but not late at night. Unfortunately, that's when I'm hungry so we've gotten used to falling asleep to the rumbles of my tummy!

Deb-CONGRATULATIONS on your all time low!! I'm sure I'll never see that, since my (previous) all time low was acheived through really nasty anorexic methods. I don't even want to go there (107lbs). The amazing thing is I thought I was fat then! Do you want/need to go lower or is it just the lack of excitement now that you've reached goal? Be careful of trying to lose more than you should or can maintain, just because it gets addicting to see a lower number. I should shut up- I can't believe I'm trying to tell YOU what to do!

Fillese-I know you've said your clothing sizes are changing, so something's happening there, just not the number on the scale. If you're doing more workouts and using weights, you are definitely changing the body mass ratios in a good way!

Jred-You get Mom of the Week award! I can't trust myself to bake yet.

Cat-I too saw the pictures of the bridge in the paper...so sad, and so dwarfed by all the other events of the week. My thoughts are with your extended family.

I got a call for a job interview that I don't want but I'll go anyway next week, 'cuase nothing else is happening. Hubby has two good looking interviews lined up for next week also, so I'm hoping he'll get a GOOD offer before I have to take a job I don't want. I don't want to take a job where I know up front I'll end up working crazy hours. My ds is too old for daycare, but I think too young to be left alone a lot.

This has gotten too long, off to make dinner. Chicken Curry- Yum.

Debelli--Thanks for the invite to pop over to the Sugar Busters boards.

Bio: I usually post to the 'Calling all Canadians" board. When I came to 3FC I wanted to lose 40 lbs. I'm a SAHM to a 4 yr old and have been married to DH for 12 yrs. I've been working really hard at trying to eat right, exercising and still I was wrestling back and forth with the last 3-4 lbs. (I've lost 10 total) Browsing, I realized that I had several symptoms of PCOS and then read that the Sugar Busters eating plan might help. So I picked up the book at the library and thought I'd give it a try. (my doc is sending me to a specialist for the PCOS, but appt. isn't till Nov.)

I actually have looked at some of the posts over here at the Sugar Busters boards, but haven't posted till now. I have learned a lot from reading the info and am very glad for so much info. You are a very active bunch!

I started the program on Monday, and find that I don't get the munchies like I used to. I'm finding this WOE actually very easy. I'm more of a salt freak than a sweet-tooth, so maybe that's why. I don't feel so bloated. I've already lost 1 lb (I'm a scale-a-holic!!), but my "official" weigh in is on Mondays.

I just started reading Michel Montignac's "Eat Yourself Slim" (got this title from this site--THANKS) and read a little in one of Andrew Weil's books about cutting sugar. So I'm slowly getting more educated about the subject.

So I look forward to posting more on the Sugar Busters boards and to getting to know you all better.

Hi Zanne- Welcome! We used to live around Bayview and Sheppard and thought that anything north of Steeles was off the edge of the world! Actually, we knew a few people in Thornhill and Richmond Hill.... Hubby grew up in Welland. No one I know has ever heard of Thornhill! I shouldn't complain about it being cold in Pa (see above post). Sounds like your off to a great start. I too am a salt and crunchy junky rather than sweets and have found this WOE really easy! Good luck, glad to have you a Board.:D

Hi Zanne

Welcome to Sugar Busters!

It's good to hear from another Canadian. There were a couple of others on a while ago but haven't heard from them for some time. I am almost a neighbour of yours. I live in the sticks of Richmond Hill. Meliris, I go down Bayview on my way to work so am very familiar with the Sheppard/Bayview area.

This is just a quickie as I have to get out to do a bit of grocery shopping that I should have done earlier but couldn't resist saying Hi to my neighbour.

Will try to post more later.

Hey Gals!

I must share with you all the WONDERFUL box of items that AVIS from NATUREL sent me that I received today. A fabulous GALLON of agave SYRUP (I told him I was learning, will be tough to get out of the habit of calling it nectar), 4 flavors of agave stix (like honey stix, in the little straws), which Michael and I both gave a 2THUMBS UP, a bunch of individual agave packets, like the little lemon juice packets you get at FF restaurants, a bottle of Agave Syrup they will be marketing under their own label soon in 12oz size-which is wonderful! And 2 company pens, of course, I'll use those to keep my journal entries! This lady is just the sweetest person! I'm just so impressed with his dedication to informing as well as taking the time to send this great array of agave items! I wish you were all here so I could share this with you. Hmmmm, how about this idea, if you are not able to get agave but would really like to try it, why don't you e-mail me with your mailing address and I'll send you one of those packets out! Of course, it's not an amount you can really do anything more than taste, but at least you'll know what it tastes like! :D

MEL, last year it got quite chilly down here where it was hard for me to go out early, I'd sometimes wait til 10 or 11am til it warmed up a little. I b*tch a bit about the heat, then when the cold comes, I'll b*tch about that a bit as well. One thing about losing weight, I can say I can stand the summers so much more easily these days than when I was fatter! It use to be so unbearable for me, now, it's still hot, and it still bothers me, but no where nearly as much. Thanks for the congrats!!! I really feel great today. Just remind me next week, when it's my TOM (due on my birthday unfortunately-maybe it will come a little late), and the scale is going up-just kick my rear and remind me that it's just TEMPORARY!!!! Yes, you are over the initial "big drop" but don't let that worry you, sometimes you won't see a drop for quite a while, or little tiny ones, and then you'll have a big one. It's if you see large drops each week that you should be worried. In the past week, I've lost 5lbs, and you sure don't see me complaining!!!!:D My original goal weight was 129, the only other time in my life that I lost weight I got down to that weight, so that's what I picked, plus, the weight charts had me fall under those guidelines as well. BUT, I never want to see the 130's again, even if it's a temporary gain due to something like TOM-so I decided to give myself a 5lb cushion, thus going to 124. I think I don't look bad, and surely I don't feel bad, so I thought that if I don't change anything in my WOE and just continue on, if I'm able to get to 119, then great, so be it, if not, not a big deal, just try to keep myself under 129 is really what I'm focused on. Yes, it's nice to see the lower number, but I also realize that at this time in my life and following this WOE, I'll be lucky to see a 1lb loss on average each month, which is what I'm hoping for. Not more than 1lb a month and I'll be happy-that's if my body cooperates, if not, like I said, no biggie.

ZANNE, WELCOME TO THE SB BOARDS!!! Glad you've decided to join us-as you can see, ROSALIE is happy to know another Canadian has also joined her! Sounds like you're doing well so far. Please, don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have-we'll be more than happy to help answer them best we can-we're all in the same boat, or as some of the gals think, the same wagon!

ROSALIE, are you able to find agave syrup up in Canada??? How far away from ZANNE are you???

BOB, I give you the .20 credit, that's what I though, didn't think it was .2-geez, only my kitchen food scale does those little increments! Hey, a fifth of a pound is worthy of a CONGRATS any dat!!!:D Your man will be home soon;)

Okay, gotta run, Eli's due home in a few. Eating light tonight, he's making his wonderful salad "fattoush!" YUMMY!!!

If I don't get back on later tonight, I'll check in with you all sometime tomorrow morning!!

Meliris and Rosalie--Thanks for the WELCOME! :D

It's neat to meet people who know almost exactly where you live.

We live at Yonge and Steeles (a 5 minute walk to CentrePoint mall, if you know where that is). Bayview and Sheppard is a hop, skip and a jump away, and we used to live at Major Mackenzie and Bayview in Richmond Hill.

It is a very small world indeed!

Debelli--we must have been typing at the same time so I didn't see your message before I posted mine. Thanks for the "welcome"

We have a pretty neat health food store called "ambrosia" that I will try to see if they have the agave syrup. First I think I'll read thru some of the info on these threads. I have no idea how to use it. Do you use it like sugar? Like instead of putting sugar or equal in your coffee, can you use the agave?

Gotta go, but I'll check in tomorrow!

Hi all,

Glad to see everyone is doing well today! I walked for the first time since I started SB today  1 mile in 20 min and another 2 hrs later 20 min. I didn't even get tired and I can't believe I didn't, goes to show you what sugar does to your body. I couldn't have even walked a half a mile before this without getting out of breath and pains in my side. It made me feel great to walk that far. I wanted to do another mile but the thunder thighs would not let me. I will have to wear a pair of shorts with long legs underneath everything else. Boy is this Gumbo weather and I made a huge pot, SB legal of course. Well better go now hope everyone has a great nite.

Getting back to the question of how MUCH to eat, especially when you are not hungry--I was wondering about that myself tonight after dinner when I found that I really had not had enough calories but was on the other side of being comfortably satisfied.

Breakfast--1 wedge honeydew melon
1/4 C low fat cottage cheese
1/2 C raspberries
1/2 of a Whole wheat Pita-ette
(small pita bread)
1 1/4 oz. havarti cheese melted on pita

Lunch--1/2 loaf of regular WW pita bread
stuffed with grilled veggies and
3 oz. roasted chicken, white and dark
meat and a little skin.

Dinner-- 5 1/2 oz. Roasted pork tenderloin
Pan "fried" cabbage, with added onion,
apple, and balsamic vinegar
(Then baked along with the pork--yum!)
a couple of brussels sprouts
1/4 C black-eyed peas

Snack-- 1 wedge honeydew melon

All this was about 1075 calories, with 38% fat, 35% protein and the rest carbs. (I'm writing these numbers from memory.) I had to force myself to eat that last piece of honeydew because I was too low on calories. Deb--any comments. You have some good pointers always, and they benefit all of us. In looking back at this menu, I might have added more green raw veggies, like a big salad. However, I just wasn't hungry for it, and would have been stuffing myself. Hmmm ----

SolShine--and BOB and all the other SEC gals--I will actually have to miss even watching the Gators this Saturday on TV. Can you believe it!!! We had tickets, and my DH is going to the game, taking 3 friends. But I have decided to take my daughter to an event they are having here in Orlando for women. We needed some time together and this was a good event to do that. It lasts all day Sat., so I won't know the score until about 6:30 pm. Of course, the recent events in our country reaffirm that football is just a dab of icing on the cake of life and that there are other things much more important. But---football certainly is fun down here in the south. We're leaving 2 weeks from today for Calloway Gardens and the Auburn game, and I definitely am looking forward to it!

Meliris--I hear ya about the Big Ten. There is a lot of tradition up there. But I have seen Big Ten alums who are parents of UF students come down to visit their kid and get to go to a game. They come away pretty awed by what they saw--with the noise volume, the color, the traditions. The Swamp is quite a sight, and-- UT has an even bigger stadium holding over 100 thousand. However, I'd love to go to a Big Ten game. Maybe one of these years the Gators will get to play Mich. or one of those teams. We'd probably travel up there for that. I did get to see a UF-Penn State game, but that was played here in Orlando.

Congratulations to all you losers! LOL You've worked hard, so pat yourself on the back.

Hi everyone

Just got back from my little grocery trip. I'm a bit behind in responding to everyone but I started this post sometime yesterday so should try to get it finished.

Sef - Don't ever stop posting because you have gained a few pounds. It's nothing to feel guilty about. We are here to help and support each other. If we were all so perfect and never went off plan we wouldn't need support forums to help us along. I really missed you and had been wondering what had happened to you. You are so busy volunteering and helping others, I hope you are finding time for yourself. I would be tempted to keep the flag in a safe place. I am sure you would be devastated if you hung it outside and it got stolen.

Kim - Glad to hear everthing went well with the doctor's visit. I was planning on trying to get into chat on Tuesday but then decided I needed some exercise so went for a swim instead. Probably wont make it next week either as I am scheduled to work evening shift. But I will make it one day soon I hope.

Fly - I'll say a prayer for you and keep you in my thoughts. I hope you can get over the hurdle, whatever it happens to be.

Meliris - 4 lbs down - that's wondeful news.

Nance - Sorry about the typing test. I'm sure you will find something else to suit you tho.

Deb - No I haven't been able to find agave syrup up here. When you said in an earlier post that you would be getting some from Ontario, CA at first I thought you meant Canada. But I assume you meant California. Too bad. I am probably about 15-20 minute drive from Zanne.

JMuir - WELCOME .

Karen3000 - Thanks for the Nutritional Advice - a little humour is good for the soul.

Thanks Cjane for the question on the SGWW bread. It got me checking the label on the one I am using and I find it has some of that bad stuff like corn syrup. I guess I will have to look for another brand. Luckily I haven't been eating much bread lately. I've eaten some whole grain rye bread this week which doesn't contain anything illegal but I am afraid to eat it if I am going to be in close range of other people as the after effects can be really bad. Maybe I should start making my own again but I am just too darn lazy.

Catlover - So sorry to hear about your family's loss.

Solshine - Thanks for the info on the pork. It sounds really yummy. Congrats on the half pound loss. I am sure with your increased exercise routine and cutting out the sweet stuff you should see positive results soon. Just concentrate on the things that are most important for you at this time and don't worry about the other stuff.

All for now. Have to get ready to hit the sack as I have to get up early in the morning.

Marie.

Good Friday Morning All:wave:

No walking for me today, at least not for the morning, it seems. Raining here, not bad, but too wet to go out there anyway. May be able to get a walk in sometime later if it clears up a bit and if it's not too hot and muggy. Now I'm glad I didn't take Wed. or Thurs. off as I had planned.

Hmmm, I got on the scale this morning, first it said 123, then it was 123.5, after I got home and stripped, 122.5! I got on that scale 3 times, and still it's showing 122.5! BUT, I'm going to keep it at the 123 for the day, but darn, it's nice seein that 122.5 keep popping up!!!:D :spin: What do you all think??? Should I keep is as is, or take that 122.5 and RUN!!!

I got some information from AVIS at Naturel that I definitely need to pass along, as I believe it's VERY IMPORTANT for those of us who use the AGAVE SYRUP. The specs he sent me included how the agave ranked on the GI scale. It was listed at 39. I e-mailed her and asked her where the discrepancie was and why it's always been found to be 11 on the GI scale. Here is her reply:

As to the glycemic index; it used to be 11, when we used Blue Agaves, as the fructose level was 90%. As of the Summer of 1999, we begin using the wild food agave varieties of pink, green, gray and ash. These are smaller plants, and thus, trunks, and now give us only 71% fructose, so the index went up to 39. The Blue is now exclusively used for tequila only (a necessarily to be a true tequila) due to the higher cost of this raw material.

Just wanted to pass this information along!

ZANNE, the agave syrup can be used in place of sugar/honey in recipes. I personally use it on pancakes instead of syrup (as does my son), and then in baking. If you look at our RECIPE BOARDS you will see all the recipes for desserts I post use agave syrup, at least in about the past year, since I discovered it. My neighbor likes it in her tea instead of using artificial sweetener. If you can find it, you'll love it!!!!

THUNDER, good for you on your walking! You'll find little by little, you'll be going longer and faster. I love to walk! Keep up the great work!

GATOR, you always make me hungry!:) It's really hard to say-you are too high on your fats. I doubt each day are you too low on your intake, if this was just a once-in-a-while thing, I wouldn't worry about it, but if it's daily, than you will have trouble in the long run. I would say, for at least one day, to keep good track of the cal, carbs, pro and fats and see exactly where you are. I pretty much stay within my targets most days and keeping track lets me see where I am. What is your target in calories for the day??

ROSALIE, I will ask AVIS about the availability of the AGAVE SYRUP-and I was talking about ONATRIO, CANADA! That's where he is:) That would be great if you and ZANNE could meet up one day!!!!

SEF, I guess whatever you decide to do about the flag issue, it has to come from your own heart-you'll know. We can throw opinions left and right at you, but whatever you feel is right in your own heart-that's what you follow:)

Gotta run, will check in later. Who wants to take bets to see how many times I jump on that scale today???

Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

Debelli--Thanks for the input re. the food. Yes, I knew the fat was high. My cal. goal is about 1200. I have been tracking my food on Fitday and noticed that I was always too low on protein. I have been trying to get to the 30-30-40 ratio, but was always down in the 20s with the protein and high in the carbs. The fat was OK, but when I upped the protein, the fat went up too. I try to limit milk because I sometimes wonder if it doesn't aggrevate my post nasal drip. I like cheese OK, esp. cottage cheese, but use the FF only when I make the quiche or something similar. Not too crazy about it otherwise--don't like the texture. And I just hate yogurt. (Except for frozen yogurt!!) So it has been hard to adjust the fat and protein intake to come out right. One thing with that menu I posted--I "added in" an extra T. of olive oil just to be on the safe side for the little bit I put in the pan to start the pork roast and cabbage, so that added to the fat numbers quite a bit.

DH has already left for Gainesville. He has a meeting up there today, so I'll see him late Sat. night when he gets home after the game.

Beachfan--How are you doing this week?

Re. gaining 20 pounds in a year--I know it can be done!! I probably could do it easily because I could eat Ben and Jerry's everyday. Ummmmm--Cherry Garcia---ummmmmm. I was just struck by the almost instant rebound after even a SB "diet." (Pardon the "d" word--this is not a diet, I know!) So I definitely was reminded that this truly has to be a WOE--a W O life. It will take me a bit of time to get used to that idea. I dream of exploring what maintenance means.

Gotta go get dressed. Have to take the cat to the vets.

Karen-
I had to laugh out loud at your post. Will have to print that one out and share it with those who could appreciate it!

Deb-
Pretty soon I am going to be siding with ELI!!!! You better not tell him your numbers on the scale, he might start forced feeding you Haagen-Daz in your sleep! Congratulations....how low are you gonna go?????????? The meeting with Dr. Evil did not go well, long story, and he gave me no $$. Extra incentive to say Buh-Buh A.S.A.P. Thanks for moving my post!!! Couldn't meet Lara, kid was home sick, we're re-scheduling for next week.

Fillise-
The Nancemeister picked herself up, faxed her resume to another job, and dropped her application off for job potential #2 at the school district and is praticing her typing to get that speed up! I will escape from Dr. Evil!!!!

Jmuir and Zanne-
WELCOME!!!! You will enjoy this board. Debbie is a walking SB wealth on information! and the rest of us aren't too bad :) Looking forward to getting to know you both better!

Liz-
OH MY GAWD!!!!!! I can't believe (yes, I can) that you did so AWESOME on your weight lost this weight!!!! That is FANTASTIC!!!
You must be motivated with a capital "M" right now. You're making me motivated again!

Sef-
Hang the flag proud dag nab it, your DH would have wanted it that way instead of being in a box!

BOB-
I'm sad that I forgot last night was the season premier of Friends...Who's pregnant and by whom? What else was on that I missed???? I'd take a point .2 loss, than a .2 gain anyday. It's the small victories that count as well as the big! Are you still WW with SB?

Well, I need to visit the shower and toothbrush. It's payday Friday yeah!!!! I want to rent Family Man again. Dan the Man hasn't seen it, I thought it was sooooo cute!

This will be short as I have to finish pricing items for tomorrow's yard sale. It is good to hear from everyone on the board today.

In an act of supreme will power I've not weighed today. I'm just concentrating on the good vibes from trying on all the clothes that are too big and are getting put into the "sell" pile.

The fundraiser was good last night--I got lots of compliments on the weight loss--I guess most of those folks hadn't seen me since January. Another ego stroke at a time I really need it!

I'm with Nance--I need to hear the info on the Friends premier as I missed to too! (Nance--good work on the apps!)

I'll try to get back on later tonight with more personel responses.

Well, I visited our local Health food store. And guess what? I found the Agave Nectar! Yahoo! I just tried it in my coffee and the coffee was fine. I also picked up some whole wheat flour and sugar free fruit spread. I think I'll be in that store a lot just browsing at all the neat stuff.

Debelli--Thanks for posting that info on the Agave GI this morning. Good to know. I did go into the info board and looked up Agave. You're a very busy girl posting all this info. Also, your stats are incredible!!!! I'm gonna have to keep looking at them for inspiration. Way to Go!

Rosalie--the Agave I bought is '"Cucamonga" Agave Nectar Light'. It is an 8 oz (237ml) squeeze bottle and was $4.89. So at least you know it is available in Canada.

Nancemeister--Thanks for the "welcome". I'm really excited about learning as much as I can from all of you.

I've only been doing this since Monday, but I'm sure I feel better. I don't feel so big and heavy around the upper part of my abdomen. I looked in the mirror this morning and was in disbelief. I had to start feeling myself. What's that bump sticking out? I went to show DH and said "look honey, I can see my ribs!" The scale hasn't budged all week, but I look better, so the weight must be redistributing itself somewhere.

I feel like I have more energy than I did when I started. Gotta get back to exercising and weights. I've kind of dedicated myself this week to finding out as much as I can about this WOE.

I even made myself some legal "chips" last night. Well, ok, they were pita crisps, but they were crunchy and salty, just what I wanted, and I didn't eat nearly as many of those as I used to eat chips.

I am finding this a very easy plan to adapt to. And I guess I'm lucky to have the health food store within walking distance. A lot of stuff there I can eat. I printed off a couple of recipes. I've gotta try the oatmeal cookies. They're my fave.

Well, I better get going to get this place into shape. I have the house to myself. I find I can work faster when I'm alone.

I hope everyone has a lovely day.

My, my where does the time go? I have been popping around here doing this and that and I find it's 11a already! Time for a cuppa coffee with friends.

Yesterday I did my nursing home bit, went to Hobby store and then framed three projects. I did not have to worry about supper as it was a clean out the ridge night. Thank goodness for microwaves! Of course, Lori and I got talking and I never was ready for something to eat until about 8p. Nothing in leftover fridge for me (Does that tell me something?) so I had a delicious supper of ice cream and later some Triscuits. :nono: Yeah, I know......but it did taste good!

:?: Because I was gabbing with Lori I missed the Friends show too. Does anyone have the scoop? Did anyone actually watch it?

MEL - Years ago I went with a guy from W. Chester. It was an arranged summer romance by well-meaning friends. I did not like the match-up, he was an international playboy..........roaming hands and rushing fingers. Sorry, old joke! My db lives in Doylestown and I lived 36 years in the Poconos. I do miss my mountains!

KAREN - Loved the post! I had a good laugh, could see some sense in it too!

DEB - You keep dropping all those pounds and Eli will have to shake the sheets to find you! :D

FILLISE - Good luck with sale. When I moved from PA I had 3, count them, 3 yard sales! I love going to them but HATE holding one. I also had 2 gallery auctions, but at least the gallery people came with their truck and loaded everything up and I did not have to do all that work. Glad you're getting rid of all those toooooooo big clothes. :smoking:

Time to get busy again. I have 5 more projects to frame. One is a Christmas present. I like to start early you see. Also have to clean up around here before they condemn the upstairs!

The weather has been just wonderful! Real fresh air throughout the house!

Still haven't decided about flag, but I think it's size will determine it for me. If we hang it, I would want to put it so it is not easy to get to. Our roof line isn't really conducive to that unless we block my gd's bedroom windows. Thanx for your input.

See you all later! Enjoyed my cuppa with you!

Hello

Sorry I haven't been on AT ALL. I've been real busy with the family and doug hurt his knee again and we are having surgery on the 5th of October. So i've been the man of the house too. Trying to keep up with everything and keep my head above water.

I've been going to our gym at work for 3 weeks now 3 x's a week and doing well. Have maintained the same weight, but my pants are getting bigger and my legs are getting toner.

Well everyone take care.

Hey Y'All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a quick post before I go to pick up Lauren from school. My Mom came over late morning and we ran around for a couple hours-hit the Walmart in Fl. City and I got the hugest Asian pears, and they matched Whole Foods price of .69 cents a piece-their price was 97 cents. They also matched the other Walmarts price on the Dinosaur Eggs, down there they were $3.67 a pound:eek: and I got them for $1.48 a pound, I love a bargain!!!:spin:

Eli is gonna come home a little early this evening so we can do dinner together-kids are with their Dad-I'm looking forward to our time together, most likely it will be Outback-I can't wait to get my salmon!!!:D

I had a falafel in pita for breakfast this morning-I am so hooked-they are so filling!!!! We are going through the boxes faster than I could of imagined!

GATOR, I truly don't believe you are getting in enough calories with 1200. I eat 1300-1400 a day, and I know you are taller and not to rub it in, weigh a bit more than I do. I don't know how your weight loss has been recently, but you may find that you do better if you upped your intake a bit-just my opinion of course.

NANCE, I already made the mistake and announced my new low last night to Eli, he really didn't say much, but I know he's not thrilled about it-too bad, I am, and that's what counts more to me! Not to mean I don't care about his opinions, but I have learned that I need to make me happy first-something I never did before, always tried to please the others. At this point, I'd love to get to 119 and that would be it, I don't want to go any lower, but as long as I stay around 124, that would make me happiest. Only when it's TOM would I expect the scale to climb temporarily. I'd like to try my best to mainting 125. When I hit my goal of 129, I knew I'd go another 5 as a cushion, when I got to that cushion, that's where I wanted to stay. I guess now, it's all up to me to work on staying in this area, give or take 5lbs.

FILLISE, my goodness, what willpower you've shown today-no scale, that's okay, I'm sure I made your not being on yours up on mine. Thank goodness Mom came over and I got dressed, I probably saved myself from hopping on there another 20 times-but wouldn't that be something like mini step-aerobics, when you think about it? LOL!! Good luck tomorrow with the garage sale-I'm hoping it doesn't rain so I can hit the ones around here tomorrow.

ZANNE, glad to hear you found the agave, but boy, is that expensive! I am going to ask Avis about pricing up in Canada on the brand they are going to be marketing. How much would that be in USD? Down here I pay on average $2.59-$2.69 a bottle, same brand you got. Sounds like you will be spending lots more time at the HFS there. See if they have a brand called FEARN, they make a wonderful SGWW Pancake Mix that is totally SB LEGAL. I'm glad you are looking around at the other boards-yes, I do keep busy always trying to find vital and informative information to share with the board-gosh knows what would happen when I get a job! I hope when you get the chance you'll go to our BIO BOARD and post your BIO so we can have you on there where others can learn more about you:) Don't worry about what the scale says, or doesn't say-what's important is the fact that you are feeling better-the scale is secondary. Oh, with the pita chips, they're also great in salad! They also make great mini-pizzas!!!!

SEF, ice cream and triscuits? What, are you pregnant? I'm surprised you didn't have pickles with that combo!! Hmmm, shake the sheets to find me, don't I wish! Now, we do have to shake the sheets to see where my saggy boobs are laying-not a pretty sight when I'm flat on my back!

RALY, thanks for checking in, you know I get worried when I don't hear from people in a week or two! Sorry to hear about Doug, but wishes for him that all should go well for his surgery. Keep us informed!!

Time to go get Lauren. Will check in with you all later this evening!!

Nancemeister: Thanks!! I do have a lot to lose so I am sure that has a tremedous amount to do with how fast I lost that initial amount. Of course, I am a classic "apple" shape so I am losing my fanny :D first. Oh well, my waist should start thinning out soon I hope. I am very motivated as I have lost almost 20 lbs since I started my weight loss goals. I can't wait to get under 200 lbs! I am big boned and really tall 5'10" so I look great even at 200 but I would love to be 180 :)I am trying to behave tonight as I am attending a Pampered Chef party ( ever notice that Chef's are almost always chunky? Man, this week has been a long one!! Work has been so crazy and stressfull this week that I'm definately ready for the weekend!!

DEB - 122.5 is absolutely marvelous - wonderful - fantastic!! I'm green with envy!! You deserve that salmon tonight at Outback. I love their ribs - wonder how much sugar their BBQ sauce has??

Busdeb - I know how things can be. Just write when you can!

Liz - you are on the right track, keep it up! I have a Pampered Chef pizza stone and I LOVE IT!! I use it for all kinds of stuff and it never - EVER - lets things get burned on the bottom! Just beware, you can't use soap on those things..... I also used to love their potato peelers, but I don't have any use for those anymore!!

Fillise - good luck with the YS - they are a lot of work!! I like going to them too, but having them is such a pain!! Hope you do well!

My dear neice (almost 15) was taken from school today by ambulance to the ER. She is a diabetic and dropped out waaay low and got in trouble quick! She is OK now, but scared the life out of her teachers at school. I think she is suffering from a little embarrasement too - she loves to be the center of attention, but this was a little too much! It is very scary to see this happen. She had an episode like this at my house not long ago and it took forever for us to get enough sugar in her to bring her back around. She does everything like she is supposed to, but so many factors can throw everything off. I worry about her so much.

Both boys won their baseball games last night. We have games tomorrow and the tournament next week. I'll be glad when all of this is over, I've been running myself to death.

DH is feeling better now, but is still a little whiney (normal). Men are the worst patients!!

I have to go for now. Have a good weekend all!!

PREGNANT!!??!! :spin:

:nono: First off, SEX (can I use that word?) is just a memory, but such a memory ;)

Secondly, surgery and age took care of any chance! :D

Now Deb just lie on your side and everyhting will fall forward, turn off the light...in the dark it all looks the same!! You know Eli loves you and not your boobs!

I made chicken cacciatori (any Italians out there to help me spell it?) for supper. Haven't had it in ages and it was goooooood! Served it over WW spaghetti.

Well it's time to slip into something comfortable, do my crossword puzzles and stitch.

Take care all, Shirley

Good evening all

I started this a couple of hours ago but had to stop for dinner and then I had company. My ds and dil and kids arrived for a visit. They just left so I'll try again to get this posted.

Zanne - Thanks for telling me about that store. I stopped by there on the way home from work to-day and bought 2 bottles of Agave Nectar. I had tried several stores some time ago but no one had ever heard of it. Now I have to check out the recipe boards and see what goodies I can make.

Deb - The Agave Nectar I bought to-day is approximately 70% natural fruit sugar and 25% dextrose so I can see why the gi would be higher. I sent an e-mail to AVIS yesterday asking where I could buy his product here. That was about 5 minutes before I read Zanne's post saying she had found some. Congrats on your low to-day but PLEASE keep off the darn scale - once is enough  You'll drive yourself nuts - if you haven't already  I have a date with the scale tomorrow. I'm just weighing on WIW and the weekend - that means Saturday and Sunday. So it's only two days at a time without weighing. :dizzy: I know there are lots of cookie recipes on the boards but is there one for CRUNCHY oastmeal cookies. I made some yesterday using fructose as the sweetener. They taste good but not really crunchy.

Gator - I don't know if you are eating enough but your menu sure looks good to me, particularly the breakfast.

Ralynne - Sorry to hear about Doug. Hope he does well with the surgery.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Bye for now.

Marie.

TV --Sorry to hear about your neice. The poor dear. Being a teenager can be sometimes difficult enough to deal with, but to have to deal with this also. I hope they can figure out what has been making her sugar drop.

Ralynne --That's too bad about your husband's knee. I hope the surgery goes well. My hat is off to you! You've been going to workout 3 times a week and still doing double duty at home. Congrats on the clothes getting looser.

Deb --How was your dinner?

I made chili last night. Haven't had that for a while. It was good, but needed a bit more of a kick to it. Then I made my cheese ball. Except this time I just put the mixture in a container instead of making it into a ball. DH and I ate it with Triscuits and dill pickles as a snack last night. We both overdid it--it was SOOOOO good. Well, at least it beats eating a whole bag of chips!

I tried on some pants last night that didn't fit me a couple of weeks ago. THEY ACTUALLY WENT ON AND I DID THEM UP!!! I wouldn't want to wear them for any length of time, but I'm making progress. A couple of weeks ago the zipper wouldn't even go up and forget about the button even coming close to being done up.

I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday. Bye for now.

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING EVERYONE:wave:

Well, actually, it's not a nice Saturday here in Miami-it's been not-stop raining since yesterday morning, not letting up at all. Flash flood watches for some areas. Just went to check the street outside, luckily, it's not flooded. This happened on my birthday last year with Irene and we really had flooding down here-I don't want to repeat that event again!

Needless to say, I didn't get in a walk yesterday, nor will I today. Praying for no rain tomorrow, as well as some of the streets I do go down to not have the flooding they have in them now-must be worse than what I saw yesterday at this time. I really miss my walking when I can't go out there!

I just did this nice long post last night and was at the very end, I mean the VERY END and my computer locked up on me and I lost the darned thing-I hate that! Anyhow, I closed up the computer for the night and decided I'd redo it this morning:)

Eli and I went to Outback for dinner last night, the salmon was delicious, the sweet potato was awesome and the salad, well, I ate the WHOLE thing, something I NEVER ever do! I had them put the crumbled blue cheese instead of dressing (minus croutons, onion and the shredded cheddar) and it was delicious!

Well, I'm happier than a pig in poop to report that I got to another ALL TIME LOW TODAY!!!! Stepped on that wonderful scale that I so happen to adore today and it says 122!!!! Again, when my TOM rolls around next week, and the scale is up, do continue to remind me that it's TEMPORARY! I know the scale is down because of this upcoming event and that it's not falling like this for no reason, this is normal for me, but also going up is normal as well, and I have to remember this next week. BUT, hey, it's nice to see these numbers and I couldn't be happier. Okay, I could be happier if my body looked more like I'd like them to, but that's not in my control at this time, but how the scale continues to go down is (at least I hope).

ZANNE, I am going to ask Avis from Naturel if, once they get their item on the shelves if it will be available in your area-or if it is available now. I'll let you know when I hear from her. Eli's sister lives in Waterdown, how far is that from you? I attempted to get up that way twice to go see her and meet ROSALIE, but both times our plans were thwarted. Hopefully, one day, we'll get up there-but I have NO plans on flying anywhere anytime in the near future. PLUS, we use to be able to fly cheap on his sisters tickets since she works for American, of course, they no longer do that-it's now cut throat and no frills:( Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD-was nice to learn a little more about you. Congrats with the pants!!!!

LIZ, you and NANCE are both tall. I'd give anything for another inch or two. I'm short against everyone-that is, except AMSER, she's an inch shorter:s: I hope when we do our next get together in Florida you'll join us, we'd love to meet you!

TV, thanks for being so enthusiastic about my loss!:D I had a great meal at Outback as I mentioned above. I doubt their sauce would be okay, I think it's sweet-but never hesitate to ask if they use sugar in their sauce. One thing you could do is ask them if they do them plain and they can give you sauce on the side and lightly brush it on-not sure how'd they taste though, but I guess if you really had a hankering for them, that would do it. Sorry to hear about your niece yesterday-definitely a scarey situation for her and probably the other students. I'm glad to hear she's doing better. Congrats to the boys for their games! Hope the big boy continues to feel better too!

JRED, I'm sure we'll get that picture up and posted between the two of us!!!

SEF, sometimesI too think of sex as a distant memory. Anytime it's more than a few days, to me, it's a distant memory. Eli thinks I need drugs:lol: Shirley, if I lie on my side, the puddles of skin just hang sideways and the "twins" lie together sideways-trust me on this one, there's just no way I can turn that will make it look any better, except maybe on my stomach! Chicken catch-a-torri-who cares how you spell it, it's a great dish that I really love and haven't had in years!

BOB, I'm sure you must be getting some wicked weather up your way as well-like you haven't had enough already! Let me know how the Fantastic mix is-when you come down we'll go get some of the Ziyad for you. Now, just mentioning it, as soon as I'm off the computer, I plan on mixing up a batch and making one for dinner-YUM! Michael is at his Dads house, but I'm sure he watched THE MOLE. I saw about half of it-that was absolutely terrible what they did to their belongings and I don't agree with it at all-that poor girl and her cow, and the other one and her Bible-sorta made me hate the show for that.

ROSALIE, that's wonderful that you got to that HFS and found the agave syrup too! Let me know what you decide to make with it and how you like it. I will let you know too what Avis says about her brand of agave nectar when I hear from her. Let me know if you hear from him first. The oatmeal cookies, I found that they aren't crunchy when they come out of the oven, but stick those babies in the freezer and they are surely crunchy! Good luck with the scale this weekend, I keep praying for you to continue with this downward trend. It seems the pounds are starting to drop a little more frequently for you now, or am I thinking wrong. I told you, it's a sickness, it's like a drug fix for me with getting on the scale-I'll have to wean myself slowly as the end of the year gets closer. As I vowed to follow this WOE as I have, I vow to keep my New Years Resolution when the time comes-until then, it's open season on the scale;)

KAREN, thanks for the links, I checked out the third one and look forward to having time to read the others this weekend-it's a good article, and applies even if you don't have a thyroid problem-as I've always said, if you don't eat enough, it's as bad as eating too much.

I heard from MELF via e-mail and wanted to share her letter with you:

Hi Debbie, thanks for checking on me. I appreciate that very much. Please know that I am ok, however, my computer thinks that I have gotten lost too since I have not turned it on since Monday. The only reason I turned it on today was to download email as I don't have much time.

My bil, bother of my late husband, had major surgery Monday, a triple by-pass & it has not gone well at all. I spent my 3 days off with the family in ICU waiting room in Lake Charles, which is almost 2 hours away from me. We have remained close in the 18 years after my husband died. They are still family to me & it has been a rough week for all of us. He was on a heart pump as well as a ventilator. The doctors gave us vertually no hope, so we are all praising God today that he is still hanging in & even though he is still critical, there is reason to hope that he will make it.

I will be working my long stretch this week end & next week, so I'm not sure I'll get to the board, but will try. If you would, feel free to copy this message to the board & let everyone know that I'm ok. I have not forgotten the way to the board & I am still holding at my goal weight. I am cautious about what I eat, even though I have been away from home. Thanks you again, Debbie. I miss everyone too. I'm hoping things will be back to normal sometimes soon. Mary

Well, the rains are lightening up, but still bad out there. I guess that means no garage sales today:( Oh well, I guess it's a good day to do stuff around the house - NOT!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I'll check in with you all later this morning/today.

Hi everyone. Hope you all are doing well. I am still on my cleaning jag. Started going through the bookshelves in the office yesterday. (We have one wonderful wall that’s filled with bookshelves!) And started throwing things out and organizing all my books. Whew. What a dust magnate! Anyways, it feels great to do this kind of thing.

We had a friend come over last night and we played the “You Don’t Know Jack, movies version” game. Anybody every played that? It’s hilarious. Like a game show trivia contest. The questions were super hard. I don’t know much about movies. BOB, I think this is a game for you.

We have tickets to a play downtown tonight. It’s called Fellowship of the Rings from the first book in the Lord of the Rings series. We know someone acting in it. That’s really why we are going. I don’t know if any of you have heard, but we’ve had some more mob mentality behavior around here this past week. Remember the riots in April? Well they found the cop who killed the unarmed guy not guilty and tension is definitely rising. So there’s been a curfew and isolated cases of violence. Man, I hate this crap! I told Paul that we’re paying the extra money and doing the valet parking and being done with it. Far cheaper and easier to pay $8 to park than have to get all your windows replaced. That’s what they have been doing, breaking out people’s windows in their cars. What’s that supposed to prove? Answer me that one!

ZANNE---Welcome to the SB board. We love having new people join us. Glad to hear that SB is working out so well for you. If you are a scale aholic, then you will fit in great here. There are a lot of people who just weight all the time. Right, DEB???? LOL

DEB---That’s quite a score of agave products you got!!! How wonderful! And it’s just like you to think of a way to share with the rest. You are the COOLEST!!!!! Count me out. I already have the agave from the healthyfood store.

TW---Way to go on the walking! That’s such a good idea to split it up. I have to tell you a story about walking. My FIL is very fit. He goes to the gym everyday and does a variety of workouts. Well, in January he set a goal for himself that he was going to “walk to Denver” on his treadmill. Since we are from Cincinnati, that’s quite a commitment. He’d said that he would do it by December 31 of this year. Well, he is finishing his goal today. He will “arrive” in Denver today. Isn’t that something? So he’s finishing 3 months ahead of schedule and feeling great. But what reminded me of him was when you said you split your walk up. He told me yesterday that he does half his distance, then he gets off and does 30 minutes of stretching and then gets back on. I found that very interesting. A good way to break up the TM time and also do an intensive stretch which is so good for you. Anyways, good luck. Keep it up. I tend to get out there today. We had slacked off since my surgery, but hopefully this will be the day to get started.

BOB---The throat on the outside is still a little tender. I went out a couple of times and word a losse fitting turtle neck to hide the scar. But it’s looking better everyday. No, my swallowing wasn’t affected so I’m been eating like crazy. What is with me? Cannot get my portion control switch turned on. Tell Cathy thanks for the kind thoughts. And please let her know I’m so excited for them. What did she find out at the doctors this week? Probably just confirmed what she already knew, right?

KAREN---Thanks for the thyroid links. I can’t wait to check them out. Of course, I don’t know how mine is going to react since there’s just a little bit left. Time will tell.

Okay, girls that’s it for today. I know I’ve missed some people, but I have to get to the grocery and get stocked up on healthy food. My produce supplies have dwindled down to nothing and that’s not good at all.

Take care. Hope everybody has wonderful Saturdays. It looks a bit gloomy here and it’s still pretty chili. Thermostat read 69 again this morning. We haven’t turned on our furnace yet. Just doesn’t seem right to do that in September.

Bye.

Good morning everyone!!! Glad to see that you all had a good week! :)

Every, and I mean EVERY, time I tried to get on here this week from work and shoot out a quick note, an attorney would come in and talk to me (I'm a legal secretary)... UGH!

Well, I did get the SB book from the library (finally), and they also had the cookbook so I got that too!! You are all right, it answered a lot of my questions. I'm still a little confused on some things, like when something says "sugar" in the label, but show zero grams of sugar per serving...does that just mean there's not enough to count, so it's a "legal" food?

Today is kind of a wash as I forgot I promised my son I'd make pierogies. For those of you who know what a pierogi is.... there is NOTHING legal about them. It's basically mashed potatoes with cheese and fried onions wrapped up in dough and fried. MMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMM. I went through a minute of "well...I don't have to eat them," but made the conscious decision to enjoy today, and get back on it tomorrow. Probably not the wisest choice, but...a choice I am willing to live with for the day. (I think!!)

Now...my shopping trip was a blast! My son went with me (he's almost 13, and could stand to use a little weight), so it was a learning lesson for us both. I want him to know how this all works and to be involved with me as well. Our local market was having a killer sale on "meat" of all kinds! I got 2 roasted chickens for $3.00 (remove the skin...no sugar), 2 big ol' roasts (buy one get one free), chix breasts (buy one get one free...) it was great! Had a lot of fun. Bought WW pitas, tortillas, etc. I can't wait to keep on experimenting to find out what I can cook that everyone in the family will enjoy. (that can be a challenge in itself sometimes)

I am starting school Tuesday, (online)..going back to court reporting school. I went for 2 years, but the kids needed me too much so I quit. Now there are online classes offered, so I'm gonna try to finish up that way. That means for me a LOT of time online with my machine and not a lot of time for anything else...like overeating!

LIZ: We are about the same size! I think I'm close to 5'10"..but I weigh more than you right now. I'm about where you started at. My goal is 135-140. That's what I weighed for most of my life, until my last pregancy. I think I had gained right before that..and was at like 160 when I got pregnant. Gained tons during the pregnancy (like I did the first time), but never lost it ... like I did the first time. So...I actually went into this HORRIBLE depression and ended up gaining and gaining and gaining...and here I am now, with over 100 lbs to lose. Oh well...the depression has lifted, God is good, and I'm in control now!!! Funny thing is when I was at 200 I thought I was a COW...now I'd love to be back there! But now that we've found this WOE, it is just a matter of time!

SEF: Do you do counted cross-stitch? That's a hobby of mine..wish I had time to do it more. Right now I have been on a crochet binge. My mom gave me the cutest pattern for dishrags. It's sooo easy and they look so cute, I'm making lots for christmas gifts. They are put together with ribbons. In the end it looks like a little pair of britches. When you pull the ribbon out you get the rags. It's cute...it's fast...and we've got lots of teachers and people we need to get for ... Wish I did stiching as fast...but that takes me forever.

Okay...I've bored you all enough! My posts are few and far between...but when they come they are lengthy!!! Just tell me to HUSH!

Have a great weekend!

:)

Well since we are about the same we will have to buddy up and encourage each other more!! I know how it is to look up and think UH OH, I have a LOOONG way to go. I too thought I was HUGE at 200 and now I would be so happy to be there. Funny how life changes.

Hi all!

It's a lovely day in the neighbohood. Hope you are well. Sorry your weather is so miserbale Deb, wish I could send you some of ours! :)

I made some WW bread pudding yesterday. It will give me breakfast for a couple of days. I am the only one here who likes it. A piece gives you protein, carb, and milk. Using the Splenda makes it great. Could never get it right with the other sweetners.

Just a couple of replies.

MELF: Know you will not be checking Board much, but when you do I want you to know I am offering prayers for your BIL. My BIL is due for triple bypass shortly. I don't understand why they are delaying. He had a heart attack that sent him to ER, then when he was in there he had a massive one and the only thing that saved him was he was in ER at time. That was three weeks ago! They want him to rest and build up before surgery. He is not a sickly man, so why the need to build up? Oh well, I digress. I will be thinking of you an your family.

CJ - I hope you don't mind the shortened name! I love to do counted cross stitch and that is what I have been working on for the consignment shop. The shop has mostly simple crafts so I kept these projects simple. Then I was told about another shop. She has more quality stuff and is looking for master works, was even helpful in telling me what she has a need of. I love the more complicated pieces, more detail the better! I usually have two projects going.....one I call idiot's work which is a no brainer and a master piece.

I am a retired Recreation Therapist, so have a knowledge of a lot of craft things, but for my own enjoyment I love the xst and crocheting. I have made scads of afghans for charity and friends. Also made little doll bassinet hand bags out of bottom of plastic bottle, it had a skirt that had a draw string that when pulled up made the bag, inside was a little doll with mattress, pillow and blanket, all crocheted. I made so many of those to sell I was dizzy :dizzy: I don't like making the same thing over and over, but at times you have to. The one craft I hated? Macrame!! I know how to knit and have taught others, but don't like it myself. Have also taught left handed people to knit and crochet which some find difficult.

TV - So sorry about your neice, hard enough to be a teenager without something extra on your plate.

I have been sitting here long enough. I get too stiff and sore. Must move on. Will check later.

Take care, you are all an  each in your own way!

Happy Saturday to all. I got on the scale this am and was happy happy:lol: Down a pound since Wednesday. Got in a great run, not too good on the time, but did all the uphills faster than the down hills. Then about a 1/4 mile from home my left knee went 'click' and I could barely stand on it. It hasn't swelled, but sure hurts. I hurt it many times skiing and running, but thought it was really strong now from all the weight training. If it's not somewhat better by Monday, I guess I'll have to see a dr. but they are so knife happy about knees that I'd rather not! Then to add insult to injury, when I got the mail, I got a Federal jury duty summons for the week before Thanksgiving. The kids are 1/2 days that week for conferences, and it's about a 1 1/2 hour commute into Philadelphia during rush hour to the courthouse. So I'd be gone from 6:30 am to 7pm. More *****ing: I have fibromyalgia and cannot sit in one position for more than about 10 minutes without being in screaming agony, so if the don't let me walk around, stretch, stand up, etc, I'll probably end up with a comtempt citation. Wonder if I can post from jail?:?:

Enough moaning.

Kim- Sounds like you are feeling much better! So glad to hear it. Would you like to come work on my house next? Organizing books-geez, mine are stacked three deep on all the bookcases. At least that way there's not much room for dust.

Lizery- Your attitude now seems to upbeat and inspiring, its hard to believe you were ever depressed. Sounds like you've come a long way and are really on the right track.

Cjane and Liz- I was thinking this morning, what I really need are a few more vertebrae. At 5'3", I REALLY envy you. If you each donate one, I'm sure I could be about 5' 5". How nice not to have to climb the shelves in the grocery store to reach the healthier foods on the top shelves.

Deb- You better stop hanging out at the "calling all Canadians" board or you are going to have a house full of snowbirds in January! Do you know where Timmons is? They only have 2 seasons there:
winter and blackfly!

Tonight Andrew is having a birthday sleepover party with 6 11 year old boys here. I bought hot dogs, buns, sprite, s'more makings, chips and dip, and a cake. I 2was actually embarrassed by mu shopping cart. I kept wanted to say to the 16yr old cashier- I don't eat this REALLY!!:o So another test tonite- tho none of it looks particularly appealing!

Have a good Saturday,
Mel

Hey Gals!

Thought I'd get in a partial post before Eli comes home, what I don't finish now, I'll finish later.

Did nothing today but go to the grocery store and sit on the computer-such excitment. Would love to get in a walk, but the skies are thick with clouds and threatening, so I guess I'll just have to take the time off and hope for better weather tomorrow.

I made one of the carob cakes today. I had wanted to make it, and then heard my niece was going to a bday party today, so it prompted me to get into action and make it. It came out WONDERFUL. I even frosted her piece with icing that I made with cream cheese, agave and carob. I'm going to try it either with less carob next time, or unsweetened cocoa-I thought it was good, but a bit too strong for her I think. Needless to say, I had 2-2oz pieces-wrapped 3 pieces and stuck them in the freezer for future consumption and the rest is history-my sister ran out the door with 2 pieces, not including the one she scoffed down!

QUILTER, sounds like you had fun, I like board games, but no one ever cares to play in our house. Sounds like you were hunting down dust bunnies today-you'd have fun in my house, for sure! I hope you enjoy your play tonight and that the city doesn't erupt again-not like anyone needs stuff like this to happen in their city, but esp. now, as a country, we have enough to deal with without people rioting again.

CJANE, you are correct, if the quantity is less than .5 a gram PER SERVING it can technically be labeled as SUGAR FREE. So, the quantity per serving must be smaller than 1/2gram. Also, if it's low on the ingredient list, that tells you as well that there's not much. Perogies, can't those be made without potato? I have a recipe for PIROGEN, wonder if that's the same? Sounds like you had a good time finding bargains at the store-my kind of shopping.

MEL, Congrats on another pound down the drain! Uphill running, if there's something like an ant hill around here, I'd probably have trouble running up it. It's so flat down here, I can't imagine running up a hill-I'd surely die! Sorry to hear your knee gave you some trouble, prop it up and take care of it. Hmmm, can't you get a Dr.'s note that you aren't able to sit long periods so you can get out of jury duty???? LOL. That's the board I found ZANNE on, I do a search ever couple days to see if there are any wayward SB'ers around the site and when I see SB mentioned, I try to jump in and show them the way (to our board). Have no idea where Timmons is. Hope everyone has fun at the party and the kids behave themselves!

Going to high-tail it out of here for now. Eli made a delicious dinner and went now to lie down for a bit. He's going to work a party tonight where they are serving Starbucks for this ladies surprise bday party-so he'll be out late tonight:(

I'll check in later

Hi Everyone:wave:

I've been so busy I haven't had time to post so here goes! I did get to walk yesterday but didn't get to go back to do my other mile, school let out yesterday early for Homecoming parade and game. So I had to pick up my little one earlier and she doesn't like me walking. She screams a cries when I try to walk when shes home.:?: But I did stay busy yesterday anyway, went with my mother and picked okra, green onions, pears, and mustard greens...whew I worked my bootie off. And then came home a put up the okra all 10 quarts of it and cooked the mustard greens and ate them....yummy! We picked 3 1/2 five gallon buckets of large pears and I do mean large about the size of a saucer. And they are great! We put them up today. Well enough about canning.

Deb: Congrats on the weight. I can hardly wait until I see my goal. My Dh told me my boobs are shrinking along with everything else! But thats ok as long as the rest of me shrinks. But I did lose 3 inches in 2 weeks in my waist. Boy did that make me feel good considering I started out at 56 inches.

Melf: So sorry to hear your bil is sick, I will say a prayer for him.

Lizery: I know what you mean about depression I went thru that about 2 yrs ago after I had 2 miscarriages. God had to help me big time and you know what hes always there for us all we have to do is call his name and he never lets us down. I agained about 35 pounds in 1 yr because of the depression. And I already weighed 230 to begin with. But am doing great on this WOE.

CJane: I have lived in Louisiana all my life and have never ate a pierogi. And I was a chef in Natchez for about 2 yrs and never made any and would have loved to have learned how to make them but noone there would teach me how.:?: They sound YUMMY!! I know what you mean about the first shopping trip. It took me 2 hrs just to get the basic things the first time. I think they thought I was crazy reading all the labels like that.

Quilter: It felt great to walk I didn't really want to stop except I had a pain in the arch of my foot. And the top of my thunder thighs felt like I had a blister;) . But I solved that by adding some extra clothing. I would love to get up to about 3 or 4 miles a day.

Well I think I better get off.. Hope everyone has a great evening and tomorrow is even better than today!

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post, so please bear with me.
My question is this - my Mom (and Dad) are coming for Thanksgiving. She is on Sugar Busters and I am on Weight Watchers. Do any of you have suggestions/recipes for Thanksgiving dinner and the other meals while they are here? I have a great turkey recipe, so I am looking for desserts and side dishes for turkey day and whole meals for the other days of their visit. I want both of us to stay on plan for the holiday.

Thanks so much for all your help and ideas -

EVENING!

Last post of the night, going to get comfey under the covers and read my FIRST magazine that came today before I go to bed.

THUNDER, good going on the walk. Anything is better than nothing. I miss it when I don't walk. Even though some days I don't feel like going, once I'm out there I'm happy I went. Good going on the inches, you'll be melting weekly! Yes, the boobs tend to go, but in my case the skin stays:( I'm about ready to roll them up and sitck them in my bra! I went from a 48DDD at one time (at my highest) to a 36D, but I can probably do 34D now-gosh knows what's still making me a D-they look so deflated!

YELLOW ROSE, WELCOME! What a nice gesture for you to want to have your Mom stay OP throughout the holidays, along with yourself. One nice thing about SB is that you being on WW can easily eat anything that's SB LEGAL and still stay OP. I would strongly suggest that you go through the recipe boards, there are a ton of dessert recipes on there. Unless you are looking for something in particular, you're bound to find something among all the recipes. As for Thanksgiving recipes-check out the NOVEMBER 2000 RECIPE BOARD http://64.119.161.199/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2356 I have a 2 different stuffing recips and also a cranberry relish recipe on there-as for other dinners while they're there, you have 1 1/2 years of great recipes to choose from-I'm sure you will find something. One of the fav. recipes that I have is the CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE which is on the MAY 2000 RECIPE BOARD. Hope this helps!!:D

BOB, are you crying???? Did you get a lot of rain this weekend-we sure did down here!

Okay gals, I'm outta here for the night-I'll check in with you all sometime tomorrow.

I've been SBing since Aug 1st. A very slow start, but steady progress since then, averaging between 12 - 14 lbs so far. Debbie suggested a journal which helped me tremendously - figured out I went HOG WILD on legal but not-good-for-me fats! Anyway, things are under control and I'm feeling great. Walking about 2 miles (including hills!) about 5 days a week when I feel up to it. I just found out Friday that I will have to have some surgery late October/early November. I have already decided to join a gym and do what I can to help strengthen my totally slack tummy muscles before they get cut again, but I am concerned about how to handle the food thing while in the hospital.

Do any of you have any experiences or advice to share? The thought of surgery and exposure to "the white poison" at the same time is too much to contemplate!!

Thanks to you all. I've already figured out that I can expect love and support from this board - it's sorely lacking on Sweetalk these days!!

Hi Dragonlady,

I used to cook for the hospital here where I live, what I would suggest is that you ask for the dietatican at the hospital and tell her that you are SBusting and tell her that you cannot eat certain foods and they will put it on your chart for the kitchen. That way you can at least stay legal on meats and veggies. They will work with you on anything you need. That way they will make a special diet card for you (not that this is a diet).:)

Good luck with your surgery will say a prayer for you.

Hi everybody! I've been trying to catch up but two weeks is just plain overwhelming so I'm just checking in. Thanks to Debbie for dropping me an email.

I've been doing wonderfully...Wednesday afternoon sometime I suddenly felt like I was coming out of my deep blue funk. Dunno what happened. Just suddenly felt energetic and hopeful. Eating not perfect but I feel more content and went back to the gym ... once.

Today we bought the Trinidad-Hopkins fight on PPV and I sat through FOUR hours of bs before the main event! But it was worth it...very surprising outcome! We invited some people over and I cleaned house real nice and even turned on the AC. So it was fun. May butt in and go out with the boys tonight even though it's boys night out. Don't normally do that but feeling restless.

Hope everybody is doing well!

Love,

Chris

Hey EVERYONE!

Once again I've been MIA but you'll be happy to know that I've lost 5 pounds while gone! :D
I don't know about you guys, but my life is completely full of things to do - sometimes I feel like I don't have time to use the bathroom! I've been tutoring 2 kids every day after school so by the time I get myself together, cook supper, etc., the day is over!!! No time for the computer!!!!

BOB: You know, it's funny - I almost posted after we scored that first touchdown but I didn't want to jinx (sp?) us! Good thing I didn't start cheering too early!!! I tell you what - that little guy y'all have #15 - ATE OUR LUNCH! He was unstoppable! My hubby was so mad - you can just imagine the profanities coming out of his mouth last night! It's a good thing we don't have kids cause they would have learned quite a variety of words last night! HAHA! So, you didn't go to the game? I was under the impression that you were a season ticket holder! Well, we'll get ya next year my friend....

GATOR: I wrote about a month ago and asked you a question about the upcoming game and then I never checked back!!! Are you staying over in Baton Rouge Friday night and if so - where? We are staying at the AmeriSuites on Bluebonnet. If you are coming in that night - do you want to meet for supper? There is a great rest. right next to our hotel called Ralph and Kacoos - seafood joint. We always eat there when we stay at the Amerisuites. Leave me a message here or e-mail me at missy@mobiletel.com. Ok - hope to meet you this weekend!!!!!:smug: ;) Notice the purple and gold faces!!!

Well, I'll check back later today. I guess I'll have to get up an hour earlier each day so that I have time to catch up with the board!!

Talk to all of you later!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

After all the rains we had, I woke up to a beautiful morning her in SOFLA. BUT, I woke up too early:( Eli was still up on the computer at 3am, so when I came in the computer room to scold him that he only had 3 hours to get some rest before he had his breakfast meeting today, I ended up not being able to go back to bed until around 7am. I finally got the old rear in gear and went out for my walk/jog a bit before 9am-did the usual 4.5miles in 51:04, not the best time I've had, but darn close to it-better than what I've done recently. As tired as I was, I'm just glad I got my butt out there!

Now, on to something else-could my scale be broken?:?: I'm down ANOTHER POUND!:D No, I'm not complaining, more like celebrating-but all of a sudden I've dropped 6lbs in the last week. Granted I was basically stuck in the same area for almost 2 months and TOM is due this week, so there must be something factoring into this! I hopped on that scale this morning and there is was, 121lbs!!!!!!!:spin: I'm doing a happy dance today, for sure!!!!

Looking back on this past week, I haven't lowered my calories, I've kept track in my journal every day and nothing is different EXCEPT, I haven't had any of my shakes in the past 5 days, or so. Not that this was planned, I just hadn't been making them, and not drinking any milk at all. Also, I haven't had cheese in a few days either - could this be a reason for my weight to drop like this?? Any ideas???

Is no one else exercising this past week-sure was lonely on the exercise board:(

DRAGON, an official WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!! Glad to see your post this morning:D You're doing very well-12 to 14lbs in 2 months time is a great loss, those hills must really burn the calories. I know where my cousin lives, there's an area I walked around last time I was there and almost died trying to go up that hill-I don't know how you all do it-I'll take the flat lands any day!;) As for the surgery, that's great that you're preparing as best you can to be at your best before you go in, and I think THUNDERWOMAN'S advice about meeting or speaking with the nutritionist is right on target. OTHERWISE, when you are allowed normal foods, I'd take a cooler with me and take SB LEGAL things that you could eat, but if you need to be on a liquid diet, tell them you want SF jello, broths are fine-what else is there? And don't worry about the IV, we had a discussion about that months and months ago (can't remember who asked about it), but found there was no trouble with that as far as the sugars go-at least that's what I remember.

THUNDER, great advice for DRAGONLADY!!!!

SEF, I see you were busy experimenting!!! :D

SPARKLE, glad to see you checking in with us-we've missed you. Get on the ball and let us know what's happening with you lately!!!

FRUIT, CONGRATS on the 5lb loss since you've been MIA:D I know how busy people get, but as long as you make a pit stop every once in a while and let us know you're still with us and doing well, that's what's important. Keep up the great work!!!!

Well gals, I'm off to the shower before Eli gets home and the kids get up. Not sure what we'll do today, kids are home, Michael has a party later today and I need to take him to get a gift for 2 of his friends-so we may just stick around our home area-not exciting, but what the heck.

Please remember, tomorrow will start the new weekly board and tomorrow is also MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY, so if you have any words of wisdom, great quotes or stories that will help us on this journey, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning all :)

It's a beautiful sunny day here and a very pleasant 68F. I'm debating whether to go for a swim or a bike ride but I think I need to get out in the sunshine so the bike ride will probably win. Who knows, there may even be time for both.

Yesterday was a busy day. I spent all morning in the kitchen. I made two lots of oatmeal bread. The second one was an experiment using sgww pastry flour in place of the white flour in the recipe. (I usually use sgww bread flour). I must have done something wrong as it was a complete flop, literally. It ended up in the garbage. The first one turned out o.k. I sliced it and put it right in the freezer so I wouldn't eat half of it. I did eat a few of the crusts, but they were very samll :D

I made FILLISE'S Crabmeat Quiche. It was delicious. Have a couple of pieces in the freezer to take to work next week. Went to my ds and dil for dinner yesterday. Had pasta with chicken and tomato sauce. Also salad. So it was all legal until the kids got out the gum drops. Of course I had to have a few. That's the first candy I have had in a long time. At least the scale stayed the same this morning. Still at 195 same as WIW.

Deb - I'm doing the HAPPY DANCE for you. You'll soon be down to that 119 that you are aiming for. Some people do say that milk stops them losing so maybe it is a factor in your loss this week. I haven't eaten so much cheese lately either and I have started to lose. Maybe this too is a factor. I usually snack quite a bit on cheese but lately I have not been snacking as much, I just haven't felt the need. I have been eating a few cookies tho, usually Dad's oatmeal or digestive, and this week the ones I made. Maybe this is better for me than the crispbread with cheese, jam, pate etc.

Have to get going if I am going to get out for that bike ride. Will try to respond to others later.

Have a good day everyone.

Marie.

AFTERNOON EVERYBUDDY!!!

BOB has been out for her STARBUCKS venti iced AMERICANO and all is right with me now....

MISSY As you can tell, I didn't get back on the board after the miraculous comeback TENNESSEE
made in the 2nd half of the game...We had a lot of injuries to IMPORTANT PLAYERS which will hurt us...Yes, my family has a block of season tickets, but my brother was there last night..Being in SW FLA puts a CRIMP in my attending..But I'm there in spirit and always RIGHT UP IN THE SCREEN OF THE T.V. !!!
Have a good time at the KY game...

DEB We didn't have the rain we were supposed to have. You must have gotten it all!! i was actually looking forward to having some...
I'm attempting to omit Gluten, Wheat & Dairy to see if the three in combo is my problem with the bloating, mucus etc
I'll let you know...
That means NO CREAM IN MY STARBUCKS!!! hope I can maintain!!!

I'm off to run the sweeper and dust...pick up all the clutter and get the laundry started...We have someone coming next week to start painting the inside and outside of my house, and hopefully he can take up the carpet while he's at it...

GOOD AFTERNOON TO ALL....

Deb- I don't think your scale is broken, but there may be some sort of strange atmospheric disturbance going on- your lost pounds are floating north and landing on my stomach! I'm up 2 since yesterday, despite 2 grueling workouts and eating the same. There is a lot of junk food in the house from birthday party leftovers, but I SWEAR I haven't touched it! Just proves that my old line that I don't need to eat the food-just look at it to get fat- was probably true.:( Congratulations to you!! Maybe only sleeping a few hours is melting the pounds off you.

I went out this morning to our not-very-nearby Fresh Fields, hoping to find agave syrup and some of the fearn mixes, and just some different stuff, but was really disappointed to find NOTHING! I did find Ezekial bread, which will be a nice change from my constant whole kernal rye, but in general, a real disappointment. Guess I'll have to keep searching. There really aren't any health food stores here. Fresh Fields is 'organic', but that doesn't really help. Except they do have lots of legal chocolate in really big bricks...resisted!
The one thing I didn't resist and I have no idea if they are legal are fresh Black Mission figs. I can't find the GI for them. Does anybody know if they are OK? They sure taste good.

BOB - I'm going to try to cut out(down more likely) on dairy too, the wheat and gluten is already mostly gone. But I eat a lot of cheeses, including cottage cheese for breakfast a few days a week. Maybe that will speed things up for me.:^:

Thunder- You sound so energetic with all that canning. I used to have a HUGE vegetable garden, but got to the point that I dreaded August and September. One year I put up over a 100 quarts of tomatoes. Then my dh got the good idea that we should have a pool and guess where the pool went? They dug the hole in July and the backhoe operator kept hopping off the machine to pick in front of it cause I told him I didn't want anything and if I never saw another ripe tomato I'd be thrilled! He left that day with several shopping bags of beans, green tomatoes, squash. Unfortunately, we've moved and now don't have the pool or the vegie garden. :(

Dragon- Welcome to the board. Sounds like you are doing well. It's a really good idea to get in the best shape you can before surgery. I don't have much to contribute about the food issue, but I had a laparotomy about 10 years ago, and my doctor said I healed a lot faster internally because of all workouts I do. Plus anesthesia and surgery in general is much safer if you can lower your body fat.

Sparkle- Good to see you back, and that all is well and the sun is shining on you again!

Hello to all I've missed- am going to try to get in another run this afternoon. THose 2 pounds are really bugging me!

Well, the Big Gator had his afternoon snack yesterday, all SB legal of course since it was all protein, (chomp!) and (burp!) is ready for some Cajun style food. So he's hoping tiger étouffé is as good as it sounds. He'll probably be ready for it 'bout next Saturday afternoon. ;)

BOB--Congrats on the Vols win yesterday. Missy, my condolences. BOB, This may come down to the wire, with us'ns playing for the big marbles Dec. 1. And how about the Gamecocks! Do the Vols play SC?

MISSY--I greatly regret to say that we have changed our plans and will not be at the game in Red Stick. After the terrorist attack, we reassessed the situation and decided that it would be discretionary to change our plans. We will be saving about $1000, which we might need to use in the days ahead. Many people that we know may be losing their jobs, and we decided that, even tho we've planned for this trip for almost a year, there are some other things that take precedence. So I won't be able to have a meal with you at that great sounding place. Sob! Sob! I was really looking forward to it. It would have been fun to compare notes on several things that we have in common. We even had reservations at Bayona in New Orleans. Sob! :( I'll miss sitting in that corner of the endzone under that overhang watching the LSU fans dropping debris from the upper deck onto the FLA fans sitting just below them. LOL I've been to many games there in Tiger Stadium and have met many fine people there.

I think we are just about ready to turn off our air conditioning. It is in the high 70's here today, which is the temp. at which we have our AC set. So, now we can open the windows!! Yea!

I think I'll weigh tomorrow. Then I'll try to resist the scale for one month and see how well I do for a whole month. Should be interesting.

Well, gotta go. We have our evening meeting to go to in a couple of hours and I want to work in the yard just a little bit. Take care.

WOW!!! You are all a busy bunch of bees. I'm finding it difficult to keep up reading all your posts. So please forgive me if I don't respond to each of you. I'm still getting a handle on all of you.

Went to my brother's last night. Brought my own snacks, but they had chips and Bits and Bites out. Yum. I was a good girl most of the night. I had 3 "O's" from the Bits and Bites and a couple of chips as big as my thumb nail. SIL made a cake for dessert. I had a small sliver and only ate one of the 2 layers. Boy did I find it sweet! So this was my first big test since starting SB and I think I passed!:D

It's our Thanksgiving next weekend (remember, I'm Canadian, eh). Dinner out 2 nights! I think I'll just ask the mothers what they're having and bring anything else I may want. My mother usually does a tribrute to starch. Last week she had corn, potatoes and white rolls that made up most of the dinner.

QUESTION --Is it typical to see results so quickly???? I've only lost a pound, but I've lost a total of 5 inches!:smug: As DH was in the shower last night, I kept parading in wearing different pants that hadn't seen my hiney in a looooong time! I'm NOT complaining. I'm doing the HAPPY DANCE! But I was just wondering if it's typical to see a loss so fast?

Rosalie --Hope you enjoyed your bike ride. it IS lovely outside.

Deb --WOW! You're gonna hit that 119 real soon. Can ya send some of those weight loss vibes my way:lol:

Welcome Dragon Lady and Yellow Rose

Gotta go out and enjoy the sunshine! Just wanted to check in before there were a lot more posts!

GATOR WHY.....O.....WHY???? does SPURRIER run the score up like he does???? AND DON'T say it's not intentional....You know it as well as everyone else...It's good to win, and it's good to be better, but it's not good sportsmanship (in my own opinion) to treat the opposing team like he insists on doing....
Other than that....Yes, we play the GAMECOCKS...we play everyone in the eastern division...of the SEC that is....
Sorry you won't get to go to the LSU game..I know Missy would have liked to have met you...BUT I totally understand why you're not going...

MEL I've got myself two containers of cottage cheese in the fridge right now..As I get into this book, I'll let you know some of the things it says...the title is Lose Wheat Lose Weight by Antoinette Savill & Dawn Hamilton

Hi again

Well, the bike ride started off good. I rode over to my sons house and stopped for a coffee. Then we all went for a ride, my ds, dil and the two dgc's. This is the first time I went riding with them - I'm still a learner so don't like to have anyone too close while I am riding. Anyway my dear little gs likes to be in the lead so when we were on the way back he decides to get in front of me. You can guess what happened. His back wheel touched my front wheel and granma ended up on the ground. Luckily I didn't break anything but I have an abrasion on my knee and a couple of small bruises on my leg and a sore wrist and a bit shaken up. Next time I will ride alone.

I'm planning on having the family over for Thanksgiving dinner next Sunday. We'll have the usual turkey, stuffing (I use Uncle Ben's Stuff'n'Such which everyone likes. Haven't made my own stuffing since I discovered this several years ago). It's not legal so I will probably have just a little. I usually have brussels sprouts, homemade coleslaw, green salad. I may have squash or sweet potato. Haven't decided yet. I've been checking with everyone to see if anyone wants mashed potato. (Ugh! I don't even want it anymore ). But if they can live without it then I may do spiced converted rice instead. I usual make a trifle for dessert and will get some ice cream for the kids. So there will be enough legal foods and not too much to cheat on!

Meliris - Hope your knee is better to-day. Can you not get out of that JURY DUTY for medical reasons. Have you thought of going to your doctor to get a note explaining your condition.?

Dragonlady - Welcome to the board. You've made a good start with SB - 14 pounds in two months is great. That's good advice from THUNDER about speaking to the dietitian when you are in the hospital for surgery to discuss what you can/cannot eat. But I wouldn't worry about any of the 'white stuff' you may be given by intravenous during and after the surgery. The IV will probably contain dextrose but the body needs this to function - you will be fasting before the surgery so won't be taking in any carbs which are turned into glucose in the blood.

Zanne - It is quite common to lose inches before losing pounds. Five inches sounds a lot but I guess it depends on how many places you have lost it from. Also you were dieting before coming to SB so that probably contributed to the loss as well. Whatever the reason - enjoy it. It always feels good when the clothes begin to get looser.

Bye

Marie.

Well I finally had a free moment this weekend. We were so busy this weekend. Fall is our busiest time because of Band and Football. Our game Friday night was great....WE WON! I didn't get to see the game because I was working in the concession stand. Do you all know how hard it is to work in there and not try some popcorn, nachos,or candied apples! But I did not have anything in there....except for water. Pats herself on the back!

Deb......I am so happy for you and your weight loss. I hope one day around April or May I will posting that I am below my goal weight.

I have a question ....where do you all get those attachements that you post on your messages? I just don't want to be the only one with blah looking posts.:o

Ok guys I will be posting more this next week I hope. I find it hard to read and post but will hopefully get the hang of it before long. :?:

I don't know if I should post this here or somewhere else.

Has anyone made the Sugarfree Oatmeal Cookies that were posted on the June recipe list? I just made them and found the batter to be very runny. I ended up adding an extra cup of oatmeal and about an extra 3/4 cup of flour.

They turned out funny creations. DH and DS are eating them. I'll probably munch on them. But they are awfully dry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

BOB--What is Spurrier gonna tell his 2nd string offensive line and his second string quarterback?--all who were playing by the end of the 3rd quarter. "OK guys, I know that you bust your butts in practice, and that you want to put your efforts in practice to the real test in a game, but you just gotta lay down boys. Just DON"T do your best. We don't want the other team to feel bad about themselves just because our second team can still score on them. So, just go through the motions and PRETEND you are playing hard." That's ludicrous. But people have the reaction that Spurrier is RUTS. I've never heard that complaint against a basketball coach. We'd NEVER expect a basketball team to play mediocre just because they were winning big. And I don't think a football team should play mediocre ball because they are winning big. His second team WAS in there. It just happens that Brock Berlin is a better second string quarterback than most first string quarterbacks. Actually, Spurrier calls running plays a ton more in the second half just to grind out the clock faster. He admits that on his Sunday morning show and it is obvious when watching games where we are ahead in the first half. Furthermore, the passing plays he does call for our Second String quarterback are designed to get him ready to play should anything happen to Rex Grossman. If Berlin doesn't get practice running those plays in a real game, then The Head Ball Coach is not doing the best for his team. And finally, the bottom line is that it is a team's job to score when they have possession of the ball, and to deter the other team when they don't have it. The Gators did their job very well Saturday, and the other team, through no fault of Spurrier's, just did not do their job all that well.
And, I might add that I appreciate your knowledge and interest in football, and the other sports! (Although football IS king here in the south.) I find it so refreshing to know women who have an intelligent discussion about sports. In my book, I always put a happy face by their name. Even an orange and white happy face.!!!!
So--luv ya, Big Orange.

Just a quickie -

Meliris - I had federal jury duty a year or so ago. I never had to serve. It is for one trial at a time, not a whole week's worth of trials. My BIL was the federal probation and parole chief at the time, I was a legal secretary for the defense attorney law firm 10 years ago and one of the trials settled at the last minute. I never had to serve on a jury. That was good because my son was younger at the time and it would have been a hassle with school, blah, blah, blah. Hopefully you will luck out too!

Hey Ladies!

Hope you all had a great day. We worked outside trimming bushes, etc. It was sooo beautiful!!

GATOR: Put those claws away girl! I'm sooooooooo upset that y'all aren't coming! I was telling friends today that I couldn't wait to meet you! But, I totally understand your reasoning. We were trying to get out of our trip to Kentucky for the 12th but our tickets are non-refundable - naturally! So, we are going. It will be fun - I just hope it will be safe.

BOB: Sorry about the players that got hurt - I did see quite a few on the sidelines! One of our key players was hurt early too - but, he went back into the game. I'm sure he's hurting today!! I forgot that you lived in Florida - I guess it is hard to go to games huh?!?!

GATOR & BOB: Just to make a funny....Gator you said how you like to be able to talk football with women....it made me laugh - cause I was trying to think of what a "non-football" kinda woman would say at this point - and I thought of something....have you all seen LSU's coach? He is the best looking coach out there!! That's what most women watching football are thinking during an LSU game!! HAHA! Cause - he is a hottie!! I know....I'm so sad!!

Well, ladies...have a good night - talk at ya tomorrow!!

Zanne - I haven't made the Sugar Free Oatmeal Cookies but I have just made a batch of oatmeal cookies using Agave Nectar (finished the first bottle already). I am trying to exercise willpower and not eat any until they have cooled down. If they turn out O.K. I will post the recipe.

For dessert tonite I cut up an apple and added some cinnamon and Agave and nuked it for a few minutes. Delicious. I got this tip from the Sweetalk board earlier this week and this is the third time I've had it (first time with Agave tho).

Nite.

It's late and I hope you see this on since it's at the end of the week.

Just wanted to let you know my picture is up on the photo album. It's pretty light, but I am wearing white. Such a lovely color for a big woman, huh?

Spent the weekend with a group of ladies from my church. We went to see an outdoor play called "The Promise" and shopped in lots of cute little stores in the town of Granbury for all us Texas ladies. We'll have as many as FLA pretty soon!!

Welcome YellowRose, DragonLady, Zanne, CJane and anybody else I missed. This is a great place to spend the evening.

Missy - I LOVE Ralph and Kacoo's but haven't been in a couple of years. I'll eat anywhere, anytime there's Cajun.

Deb - Thanks for the picture help. Don't know what I was doing wrong. I may be yelling for help again when it's time to "update".

Gotta run, it 's bedtime and I have early morning duty at school. Have to be there 20 minutes earlier than usual.

Hi y'all! :

Are y'all finished laughing at me? I was always so envious of those images you add to your posts. I was just so pleased when I figured it out!

But then I was gloating too much. Earlier I worte a lovely post and added an image. When I sent it, it came back that the image was too big. That was okay but I lost the entire post.....and you know how wordy I am!!!! So I am back to try again!

DRAGONLADY - How lucky you will be to have someone else at your Thanksgiving table who has to watch their woe. Smart of you to plan ahead for you both. I made bread/sausage dressing using sfsgww and it was good, couldn't tell the difference. Of course,if you eat that forget the sweet potato!!!! That's a :nono:

SCAMP - Good to hear from you. Isn't that feeling of euphoria wonderful? You must be doing something right!

FRUIT - Glad you are back too. I think we have four of us LA. girls here now. God knows with all the goodies this state is known for, we should be well represented!!!!

DEB - Don't tell me we have to give up our shakes!!! We need that calcium and it's good for toning the skin.......of course, I need my own straw atteched to a skim milk cow!!!

ROSALIE - I think I would have opted for the swim! Your poor gs, he must have felt terrible bringing gramma down! Hope those scrapes and bruises are feeling better, although sometimes you hurt more the next day! Let's hope for the best! I have not been able to find the WW pastry flour or the bread flour, just the regula sgww flour. I think I miss mashed potatoes more than anything, I practically drool in the pot when I make them for the family....not a pretty thought!

MEL - Same thought on the cheeses as on the shakes. I like cottage cheese and use the LF variety. Love cheeses except I haven't developed a taste for Feta.

GATOR - My goodness! Cool down! It's only a game!!!! I'd hate to have you and my sister in the same room during a game. You'd probabaly be fighting over who was going through the TV first!

BUS - Isn't it wonderful being a team mother/father. My dd was on swim team for YMCA, we traveled all over with the team. I either timed or did the refreshment stand. DH always did the food crew. We really worked hard, and groaned because mre parents didn't help out, now it's a fond memory! I always tear up over memories!

Okay, I am going to try and attach another image!

Take care, see you on Board tomorrow!

Sef - In hindsight the swim would have been the better choice. I buy my sgww flour in a bulk food store. They have one sgww which is made from the hard wheat. This is the one that is best for bread making as it has a higher gluten content. The other one they have is made from a soft wheat. This is the one that is better for pies, pancakes, etc.

Congrats on getting the pics in your post. I found a few a while ago but I have been too lazy lately to go looking for them.

Nite.

Marie.
