Count me in!!! I am on day 3 of WP & so far, so good..... however only time will tell! It feels like Tuesday will never come......

Anyway, here is how my week looks. I tweaked the WP info to work with my week & weigh in. Give me you honest opinions about how it looks.....

Tuesday (early a.m. weigh in) 39
Wednesday 25
Thursday 28
Friday 26
Saturday 29
Sunday 24
Monday 24

Like other said in the info thread...it's kinda odd to have so many pts on somedays, but I'm willing to try this for a few weeks & see how it goes.

I'd love to hear what others are doing :)

Nice! Like the new thread...so week 3 on Wendie, 5 of WW.
Last week, I had a gain due to stupid software conference food, but that's ok. I lost all of it this week. Looking at my old WW books, before Wendie was known, I would consistantly lose .5 - 1 lb a week. Not bad at all, but this seems to be kicking me in to overdrive.

I'm good with the planning, and usually have my SHD on weekends so I can have some fun. It's easy for me to plan at the office, because I just brown bag it.

Good luck to all!

Hey Wendy :) I have shared this with a lot of my family and friends. I am so glad that you helped me to get it going. I lost 4.2 lbs. the first week. I have been in a slump for a couple of weeks. I am waiting for it to kick in again. I have been doing a lot of exercise so I'm thinking that since muscle weighs more than fat; I must be building muscle and losing fat. I can see a difference in my body tone. I just want to see the scale numbers getting smaller. Great idea about this link.

Tomorrow will be the last day of my 5 weeks on the Wendy plan. I cheated pretty bad this week, so I gained a couple pounds back... but I'm losing it again! Despite the cheating, however, I have lost 8.2 lbs on the Wendy plan so far. Here is how I divided up my points:

Monday: 24
Tuesday: 26
Wednesday: 24
Thursday: 25
Friday: 28
Saturday: 39
Sunday: 29

Im going into my 3rd week on the Wendie Plan. After doing exactly 20 points a day for 2 weeks and having a total loss of only 1 lb (lost 1.4 lbs. the first week, gained .4 lbs the second week). I decided to try the WP. First weeks loss 1.4 lbs. Second weeks loss 1.6 lbs. I definatly think my body likes the WP, LOL! So I have tripled my weight loss on WP, and I am thrilled. Here is my WP schedule.

Thursday (WI day) 20 points
Friday 25 points
Saturday 21 points
Sunday 35 points (SHD)
Monday 20 points
Tuesday 24 points
Wednesday 22 points

Hi everyone! I'm not yet on the Wendie Plan, I've been using flex since August 8th. So far all has been OK, but last week I had a dissappointing loss of 1 pound. I know, I know, a pound loss is good, but after my first 8-9 weeks, I was sad to see that #!! I just wanted to make sure I "get it" before I decide to jump on the Wendie Wagon!

In a nutshell, the way I understand it is this: Vary your points daily, making sure your super high day is a minimum of 3 days before weigh in. Other than that, the way you vary the points is personal choice? Does this very simplified version sound correct?

My weigh in is tomorrow (Saturday) and I'm anxious to see the results. I've not used many flex points in the last two months because I really haven't been hungry or needed them.....therefore, using so many of them makes me a bit nervous!!

My schedule:

Monday 26

My official weigh in day - Wednesday.. Let's do this!

Hmmm....

This is Interesting ! When I stick to my points exactly I binge after 2-3 days, it just doesn't seem like enough food. I mean, 1000 calories give or take is just too low for me to go with long term. My results have been scanty so far at best!

This being Saturday, it's a good time to start. Monday is my weigh in. I printed my "20 Point" chart out in BIG letters and have it on my fridge. I'm willing to give this a try!

okay ladies~ is anyone else (who is in Week 1 of WP) getting nervous. My WI is Tues morning & I've got major butterflies. I just don't know what to think..... Logically I know it will be okay, but part of me is saying "You had some major points days" & is starting to freak a little. :o Anyone else feeling this way????

I'm with you Stacy; I weigh in right behind you on Wednesday morning... We'll see what the verdict is. The others have assured me to cut out the whining (I went on and on and on about it in another thread). I'm just chicken. But since then, I've been ok. Wednesday will tell. I've been exercising like a bandit. Good luck!! We'll be fine.

I am starting week 3 back OP and until I see a stop in losing OP I am going to stick to flex - however the second I start to plateau, it's the Wendie Plan for me! I can completely understand how it would work better. I'm just going to give my body another couple weeks to see what it does on flex.

Well I had a crazy weekend of parties, so I'm hoping that super high day really means SUPER high day :-)

The good news is, I am still on track using Wendie's methodology. I'm Thursday's weigh in, so it seems we have a sequential success tracker!

Glad to see everyone here. Glad to see all the losses!

I have changed my eating this week. I was going over my eating books and seeing what was happening. I have found that I am not eating much meat lately. So I decided to try a vegetarian approach to weight loss. NOT to say that I will not eat meat. I love fish and to have a great steak cooked on the grill. But I dont eat much meat on a daily basis. So I got some Boca Burger, Veggie Cheeses and few cans of beans (chick peas & black beans). I already drink Soy milk because I am lactose intolerant.
I did some reading and found good sources of Protein in beans, soy and veggies as well as calcium sources. so I am setting myself up for a great week.
Most of the foods I eat are core except Whole Wheat bread and Weight Watchers Bagels, English Muffins and Yogurt. and I make some kind of muffin each week. this week I made Pumpkin Muffins...Yum! Next week I am going to try some kind of apple muffins. Have to find a recipe for that.

Pumpkin Muffins...

1 Vanilla Cake Mix
1 small Can (15 oz. I think)
1 -2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice, Apple Pie Spice or Cinnamon (my addition)

Mix all ingredients. put into cupcake liners. Bake until tooth pick comes out clean. Keep refridgerated and eat in 7 days.

46 points for all the mix.
So if you make 18 muffins like I do, They are 2.5 points each.
24 muffins 2 points each.

Here are my points for the days...

Monday 28 points
Tuesday 26 points
Wednesday 31 points
Thursday 27 points
Friday (SHD) 41 points
Saturday 26 points
Sunday 30 points

I weigh in tomorrow...Let you know...Last week I stayed the same but I was not very good. I did not track anything...Life was very hectic and I really didnt have time...I try to eat all core foods.

Kelly

Kelly, you are basically right. Your points are kind of set for you by the wendie plan rules...It goes by your current weight.
One rule to remember is you want to have at least 3 lower days before your weigh in.

You have 214 in your profile....Here is what it looks like.

POINTS TARGET - 26 (Weigh 200 - 224 lbs)
Day 1 - 26 points Thursday
Day 2 - 31 points Friday
Day 3 - 27 points Saturday
Day 4 - 41 points Super High Day (SHD)Sunday
Day 5 - 26 points Monday
Day 6 - 30 points Tuesday
Day 7 - 28 points Wednesday

You can make your SHD when ever you want it...I usually have it the day after my weigh in...which was Thursdays but now is Wednesdays..but I kept Friday as my SHD. The easiest way to change the order is to type lets say Sunday next to your super high day..then go to what is written as day 5 and write Monday. then day 6 write Tuesday, until you have a day next to each day listed..
Hope this helps you...

Well I am going to go...Have to get my daughter ready for PreK.
Hope all the weigh ins go well... Talk to you later!

Okay...just back from my WI....the verdict -1.4lbs. Hmmmm...not quite sure how I'm feeling about it:p I'm am thrilled with the loss :carrot: ..but obviously got my hopes up with the WP for a little more. It was a little larger than my loss from last week so that's a good thing. So I have decided I'll stick with WP for atleast one more wekk & see how it goes.

SO now....I can't wait to see how everyone else does over the remainder of the week.....

sunshinedaizy~ thanks for the recipe...I LOVE pumpkin!!! Can't wait to try it!

And while I agree 1/4 is good, what I meant was I lost just under a pound and a half. I was just teasing sunshinedaizy & now I'm gonna have to razz you ;)

Verdict - .8 lbs. Not so happy about that.. I'm gonna give this one more week. I'm kinda thinkin' maybe I need to go down to the 20pts/day d/t I'm hangin' on the edge (150.0 on the nose). And actually, it's a big difference between the 20pts/ vs the 22 pts when you're adding back in the flex pts. Any suggestions? I'm kinda not so happy right now because I've been dangling between 150-151 for a couple of wks now and I was so sure that this was gonna do it.
Stacy, I'm proud of you.. 1.4 pounds is good. We'll both do better next wk!! We have too.

OK WI in ... 3 hours ...

For the Cous Cous Salad from the Ultimate Flex & Core:

1 c Chicken Broth (or veggie if you prefer)
1 c dry cous cous
1 tsp olive oil
1/4 cup scallion
1 medium ripe mango
1 medium red bell pepper(s)
2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar - UNSEASONED
herbs to taste

As listed, it's 6 servings, 3 pts each serving of about 3/4 c.
I added an orange
and 1 link chicken apple sausage

which made it 4 pts for a serving.

Instructions:

Bring chicken broth, and olive oil to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in cous cous and cover. Let stand for 5 minutes.

Dice mango, red pepper and scallions and add to a bowl with rice wine vinegar and herbs.

After 5 minutes, fluff cous cous with a fork and add to fruit and vinegar mixture.

Add a warmed chicken apple sausage if you like and serve warm but not hot.

There is also a corn and ham cous cous salad recipe that looks good.
I'll bring the book in and share more recipes next week.

Cheers!

:stress: I'm really not doing too good today. I guess I need next WI to come on and give me better results. I really need to get used to these plateaus... I know it's a normal part of getting healthy/ weight loss, etc. You'd think it was my TOM by the way I'm responding to this. WED pm, I told myself I was OK; and yesterday I told myself I was OK; but really - I'm bummed w/ this... I guess maybe if I just really say it, and get it out, things will look up.

OK, tantrum fulfilled..:rollpin: I wanted to clobber the scale and jump up and down on it. I thought I'd been working really hard.

So sorry your having a tough week Miss Cretia! :?: It happens to us all, and Im sure next week will have you in better spirits! Looks like everyone is continuing to lose on the WP. I personally LOVE IT! Every week Im so sure I have gained by the amount of food Im eating, especially on SHD! :( OK Ladies - I am in big trouble  - OH BY TH WAY -Good afternoon everyone-

Well, this is the story: Thursday and Friday DH and I spent a WDW for his B-Day:hb:. Thursday - Animal Kingdom and Friday EPCOT. Needless to say I have not been OP:cry: for these two days. I did get alot of walking :running: in. But eating :eating2: as well. I am so disappointed  in myself because I have been stuck again and haven't dropped any weigh. Then what do you know DH has a b_day and I jumped on the :shrug:wild horse and took off. I know that when I get on the scales again they want be stuck but they will be moving up :yikes: not down.

OK I know what you're going to say ;) and I know you're right and I am starting fresh today and plan for a great day.

Thanks for your support.

Hi, all--I've just rejoined WW after four years away and attempting on my own--I need the accountability, I think, of facing the scale with others present. And pthers to commiserate with ain't so bad either, right?

Wandered in here to get menu ideas and found this thread--WOW, this makes so much sense!

I try to stick to core foods--like some others here, if I can't pronounce it, my bod doesn't need it...But so far this week, I have been doing points AND keeping track of what it would be if I were doing core...Do any of you have any theory as to whether a Wendie approach is appropriate as a start-up, or would I be better served to wait until my loss on the traditional plan begins to wane? I have a long, long way to go, and need as much metabolic assistance as possible to stay motivated, I fear...Thanks, all--and HUGE good luck!

WineBratSF

Back from the wedding...interesting to say the least. I think I'm not too far off the points since (sorry friends) the food was AWFUL and there weren't any booze. I love my friends but sigh...

ScaleWatcher - don't stress over it - you had a GREAT three days. It;s probably not as bad as you think, if you walked that much, you most likely worked off a lot of those amusement park points. I lost 7 pounds when i ate and drank my way through Australia so you just NEVER know

It's HOT here today for late October...watching spooky tv and sipping splenda lemonade YUM. Take three lemons and juice. Add splenda to taste. Pour over ice. AHHHHHHHHH

Little Bumblebee & BobbieAnn WELCOME! You can do it. I love WP because I can have my fun weekends and then buckle down on my lower days. It saves money too -- by FORCING me to brown bag it to work.

Happy Standard Time everyone!

I'm back this morning already for your kind assistance--I got up early to sit for a quiet hour to plan my meals for the week ahead before the charming husband gets up. Decided I would try to plan both ways--using my flex points (34) and building an alternate column for when I'm ready to officially Wendie is up a notch. But I ran into problems immediately! I am having problems even distributing the 34 points across my day, much less 36-44-49!!OMG, that's a pile of food!

My "fixed" points include 1 c steel cut oats(2 pts), 4 pts in protein (eggs or egg and/or soy meat or ham) and 1 pt in flax oil for breakfast; 1 c ff milk (2 pts) and FF SF yogurt (2 pts) somewhere each day for dairy/calcium. Being over 50, I am to have a third dairy, but have not been able to stuff it in, so I'm getting the calcium in a supplement (Fiber Choice for the dual grand effect, LOL)--so that's 11 points/day accounted for.

My natural leaning is toward whole, natural foods, so most of the foods I gravitate to are core, but I have found this past week that I need to eat a prepped frozen meal more than I would like merely to get 5-6 quick points in when I don't have TIME to chew a lot of grainy good-for-me stuff (I have only 20 minutes for lunch--not enough time for a large, yummy salad! DRAT!)

I am not at all sure how I can get my POINTS and get my fruits and veg in--If I eat the veg "first" I am too laden to eat the points-heavy stuff. If I don't get my points in, I don't lose. If I focus on getting my fruit veg requirement via fruits--which helps me reach my points!--I don't lose (or haven't in past efforts; as I noted yesterday, I'm back in the saddle and highly motivated (Oh, man, God, whoever! Please help me sustain my will!), so I have some experience with this business of how my bod works...I fully expect to lose well this first week, as I'm very heavy and we always do that first week, right?, despite the fact that I will not have eaten all my points...

So, what I need from you kind ladies, is suggestions for points-heavy choices that IDEALLY help me get my veg in, too (meaty soups? pasta sauce with meat? chili? Should I just order a pizza? ARRRRGGGHHHH! This is maddening!)

Thanks for you help--I feel so inadequate to the task of getting to 34, much less 49, so I will work on building to that flex level first, then see how I can get FROM there to Wendie, I think...

Miss_Cretia

Do any of you have any theory as to whether a Wendie approach is appropriate as a start-up, or would I be better served to wait until my loss on the traditional plan begins to wane?

BobbieAnne- I'm a "wendie plan" newbie, too; so I wouldn't dare attempt to give you advise on this.

But I will tell you that you are asking the same question I was re: how do I get all of this food/ these pts in... Here's what I've learned to do:
I eat raisin bran in the mornings on my super high days; it's good because it's bran (high fiber), gives me some raisins and allows me to get a milk svng in. 2 boiled eggs (4 pts) are an option w/ 2 slices of toast.. 2 slices of Natures own bread is 1 pt!!! (good fiber too) - eggs (protein) really holds you (as far as appetite goes).
Smoothies are great (skim milk, strawberries or some type of fruit, egg whites for fluff w/ ice, FF pudding mix) - by the time you finish this could be 4 pts (or even as low as 2 pts on low days). I drink one almost every night -makes me think I'm having ice cream/ milkshake (tastes real after you dress it up w/ pumpkin spice, cinn, etc) the ff jello cheesecake & the ff white chocolate pudding mix is the best!!!
Good luck - you'll find what's best for you.
I'm determined to move the scale on Wednesday. I started the couch to potato cool running program. I've completed two days of running/ jogging for 30 mins. Alright, Winebrat and Stacy - bring it home.. Tuesday's the big day, right. I'm right behind you on Wed morning. Let's crack that scale!!

Today's my WI day, too--end of week one! I'm both excited and nervous--it's been a good week in terms of choices, but as many have noted, it is hard to eat all that food! I feel like I am full all the time (and that's a good thing, I know), but also eating or planning for eating or finishing up eating or getting ready to eat all over again all day long...LOL, I suppose I was doing the same thing off plan, but just not thinking about it, right? ;-} Good luck to all as we hit our WIs across the week!

WI this morning 151. Definately not for me!!! The scale went up!!
And I'm in my last 10 lbs/ which everyone knows is the hardest to move. Dropping back to my 20-22 pts/day...

BUT CONGRATS TO ALL THE BIG "LOSERS".... (smile)

Stacy, great job!

Miss Cretia...just wondering...did you have your high days right before WI? That might impact it...

I'm not going to make my WI tomorrow due to family crisis at the moment but hopefully next week I'll be WAAAAY down.

Anyone else need a NAP right now? :(

Miss Cretia~ I'm sorry you had a bummer WI......but you're right, the last 10 are the hardest. Good luck to you sweetie :)

WineBrat~ You know the suspense is gonna kill me, right. We'll tune in next week for the big day. :) I hope the family crisis resolves soon

Bobbie Anne~ How did it go? Can't wait to hear from you.

Well, one holiday down with minimal damage. Last night we had pizza (a HAlloween tradition prior to going out to Trick or Treat). It was my SHD, but I still limited myself to 1/2 a slice & then a large salad with grilled chicken. I also splurged on a Hefeweisen. And with that I only had 1/2 as well. And no candy :)

Actually my SHD was on Saturdays and my WI is on Wednesdays. I'm not sure but everybody responds diff to diff programs.. Also, it's my last 10 lbs; and I'm not sure my body appreciated that... I was prev only eating my sched # of pts and would make myself earn AP to eating anything over.. And I was doing OK. Thanks for the support. See ya on another thread..

I was down 4.6; not bad, I know. But I am not completely happy, because on Sunday morning, I was down 9.1--How does that work?! And it's not the difference between the scales; when I weighed in last Tuesday pm, the scale matched my own weigh-in on my home scale exactly...and today, I am up .4...I feel so discouraged. I had so much trouble getting my points in all week and I was committed; now I'm not sure I'm up to the disappointment, you know?

BobbieAnne That is an impressive weight loss. Congratulations on losing 4.6 lbs in one week.

JasonsLee Congratulations on you 1 lb loss. Every pound counts toward the overall goal.

I hope I have half as much success as you girls at weigh in tomorrow. I know that I have eaten a lot more on the wendie plan than I normally do. It will be interesting to see how that works out. I am disappointed in myself for having an awful SHD. Instead of enjoying my food. I was rushing around eating while trying to get other things done. Needless to say that I did not enjoy any of my food. I was so disorganized and that made for a miserable day of eating. Hope to be more organized with the new week.

Keep up the great work everyone.

Sorry I havent been around, I have been crazy busy...But I lost 2.5 pounds this week! Yeah ME!!! Finally after 3 weeks of staying still on the scale. I am happy with that. My leader was very excited to see that scale move. It was great! LOL!

BobbieAnne, Our bodies fluctuate daily, that is why we should not get on the scale daily. I know it is hard not to, but dont fret about it...You lost 4.6 pounds! That is wonderful! Keep up the great work...
For me, Planning my super high day is the thing to do...That way, you can make sure You are getting your poinst and not feel over whelmed by it...I will post my menu for my high day...I am pretty boring, I eat the same things most of the time. but here is an example...

For me super high days are not much different then my lower days. I get 41 points. I eat more per meal and then have snacks.

Breakfast (11 points)
oatmeal with 1 tbsp peanut butter (4), 1.5 oz. raisins (2)& 2 tbsp brown sugar(2)..
(low days would be 1 tbsp brown sugar only)
with a banana (2)
1 cup FF soy (1)

Snack #1 (4 points)
1 cup FF Cottage Cheese (3)
1 cup pineapple (1)

Lunch (5 points)
2 slices Weight Watchers Bread (1)
2 oz. Very low fat low sodium ham (1)
2 slices LF Swiss (2)
Tomatoes, onions and lettuce(0)
1 serving FF Pringles (1)

Snack #2 (3 points)
2 tbsp FF ranch with a 6 drops Hot sauce (1)
Carrots, broccoli and cauliflower (0)
2 oz. chicken breast (2)

Dinner: (12 points)
6 oz. broiled Haddock (4)
2 tsp Butter (2) and lemon
1 -2 cups HOt Veggies (0)
1 cup Brown rice (4)
1/2 cup black beans(2)

Snack #3 (6 points)
1 cup FF SF Vanilla Icecream (2)
1 banana (2)
1 tbsp Homemade Cherry jam warmed (1)
2 tbsp FF frozen whipped topping (1)

I have my 5 servings of veggies and fruits
2 servings of dairy
I count the butter as my oils, I use Promise lite spread with Omegas in it...
and I drink 20 oz of water with each meal.

As you can see. I have mostly good healthy foods. I do have one snack that is a luxury thing. Although I have icecream 2 to 3 times a week but 1/2 a cup with nothing on it, it is a treat. I cover all the requirements first. But just eat alittle more at each meal. It is doable... You do have to plan the day out...it is easier to plan it out and then get to the end of the day and find out you stil have 10 points to eat.

It isnt really that hard..It just is about planning...No surprises at the end of the day...

I think you are over thinking it...

Stacy Sorry for writing 1/4 instead of 1.4, I always hit the wrong button with little right hand pinky...Sorry. Glad you like the muffins.

ScaleWatcher, Just keep plugging along, My last 3 weigh ins, I stayed the same then today...POOF! I lost 2.5 pounds! so just keep on track and keep moving forward.

WineBrat, way to go to sticking to plan.

Shari, Your points look good.Sorry I did not get back to you sooner.

Cretia, did you go down to the lower points? Also are you careful to not eat anything with Salt in it...I know for me, the more processed foods I eat, the more I retain. It is everywhere.

FunnyGirl Way to go, Keep up the great work. I love Wendie Plan also.

LittleBumbleBee, Read the quote above, It is my typical High Points day. I plan that day out so that I know what I am going to eat when and stick to that plan. It is much easier that way. Also start eating as soon as you get up, This starts the day off right by revving the metabolism, Definately get some cardio in to burn fat also. This really helps you with your appatite.
Good luck. You can do it!

Well I am going to bed. It is 2 am...Much later then I would normally be up.
Good night Everyone!

I probably need to clarify--This was my first week; I just rejoined WW through a new at work program. So I wasn't "Wendie-ing," just starting up. I only weighed in on Sunday as it is my "usual" day to weigh myself at home--I have always weighed myself on Sundays, since I was a teen! I also have weighed myself on the day I first WI when starting WW--each of the four times I've joined, just so I can see how my scale is syncing with theirs, specifically so I don't freak out or celebrate too heavily depending on what my Sunday weigh-in shows... That said, yes, 4.6 is decent--but it is less than half of what I have ALWAYS previously lost in first weeks on this plan and on Atkins--at over 390, I am a big girl, and big girls and boys typically drop bizarrely large amounts in that first "water week," right? It's always a big motivator, too. So, when I was down 9+ on Sunday, I "knew" it was gonna be a good start, and to then lose only half that kinda deflated me.

Another week. Still just trying to get my 34 points/day in, still just trying to figure out the best way to plan shopping and choices around that number--so i won't be Wendie-ing for a while yet...I appreciate all your support--I MUST find a way to drop this fat!

Man... I am LOVING the Wendie Plan!! I had hit a stand-still with my weight before trying it, and now the pounds just keep on dropping! In October, even with TEN DAYS of being totally off plan, I STILL lost just over six pounds! I'm getting closer and closer to my goals & it's so exciting :)

So ladies...I am having a good week thus far & staying pretty positive. In fact I was totally suprised when TOM arrived today. Why was I suprised, you ask??? Becasue normally I bloat like crazy the week prior & see *zero* loss at that weigh in. Well I was down just over a pound & a half 2 days ago & I'm not the least bit bloated. Oh yeah!!:carrot: My body is doing good things!!!

So I will be anxiously awaiting today's weigh in results........

Stacy, I know you were joking, I did not feel offended. I just always hit the wrong button for some reson, and I usually catch and correct it but for some reason, I missed it.
Good luck with your weigh in.

BobbyAnne, I assumed you were doing wendie becsause you are on this thread, but you are welcome to stay and we can help you out!
You know that our bodies change daily, hormones do some crazy stuff to us...Having too much Sodium on day can cause a 5 pound gain with out even going off plan. So dont fret it...It will work out.
I started a diet plan 2 year ago and lost 9 pound the first week (starting at 245) I then started that same plan at 225 and lost only 4 pounds. Then with Weight Watchers, I lost 4.5 pounds in week 1 at 220 pounds.
This time starting WW I was 219 and only lost 2 pounds...So it can change. It depends on your choices. You probably didnt eat exactly the way you did when you started last time. Just keep working on it..you did great! Keep up the great work!

Well I am going to go, I am sick so today wont be a SHD for me...I can barely eat broth and other lite foods. but I will do my best. Have a great day!

hey everyone,

I didn't post yesterday because I had to go to the doctor. I have a problem with my knee again (the problem is a meniscus tear).
What is knee cartilage? Is it the meniscus or the ends of the bone?
Both the covering of the bone within the joint and the meniscus are made of cartilage--this makes the issue a little confusing. People often say 'cartilage' to mean the meniscus (the wedges of cartilage between the bone) or to mean the joint surface (so-called articular cartilage which caps the ends of the bone). It is very painful. I am taking a medicine called Diclofenac. I have to take it for 4 weeks minimum. I am going to have to stay off my feet for a few days. That is not good. The medicine also is probably going to cause some weight gain. I just starting dropping weight after a long slump. So I am not too happy with this situation.

Scale Watcher, Take care and follow the doctors orders. As far as meds go, you need it, Just keep plugging away at the plan. Drink lots of water, eat lots of natural foods (more veggies and fruits) and watch your sodium intake and you should not have too much trouble with weight gain.
I have had 2 back surgeries in the last 2 years and it caused a slow down in my loss but I just kept working on it...

Stacy, Thanks! It is great that you could make it as long as you can, and every little achievement is a success. You are doing it! Keep up the great work!

FitbyForty, You are so close to your goal, Congratulations....Have you been maintaining your loss? If so, Congratulations. I know you are not exactly at goal but you are only inches away. And if you can maintain at 4 above your goal, you can work alittle harder to get that 4 gone and then maintain there. Dont think about it as a negative, It is a good thing! Maybe your body likes to be at that 154 mark. Just go with it and dont worry.

Well It is very late, I have to go. Good night everyone!

Sunshinedaizy,I gain 2or 3 and lose them again. This has been the pattern since June.In 2003 I was 140.A weight i maintained for three years. I moved to the states and gained 45 pounds in a very short time.It has been a slow weight loss,I often take the scenic route.I have decided I will be happy at 150.If i go lower that would be a bonus but it won't be my goal.I need to get on track and stay there I know that is the only way the weight will come off.

Wendy- Thanks for the incouragement concerning my knee injury. I had spinal fusion November 2004 C5-C6. I gained around 75 pounds after my accident in March of 2004. I started trying to lose weight in July 2006 and have done pretty well. I have hypothyroidism and a multinodular goiter (very slow metabolisim). So if I can't move around I know I will gain. Hey everybody, I hit a bit of a slump, and saw this plan, so decided to give it a whirl! :D I'm really excited and can already tell that it's going pretty well, but my weigh-in isn't until Saturday so we'll see. Scalewatcher, what was the original problem with your knee? About a month ago my knee started hurting, and it's gotten progressively worse. I keep delaying a trip to the doctor, hoping it will go away on its own, but it hasn't. It hurts the most when I bend it backwards, like when sitting on a chair. Sorry to bug you about it, but I'm not sure if it's serious or not.:?:

Shellibelli-My knee first starting hurting in Sept. I was doing a lot of walking. I would walk anywhere from 3 - 10 miles a day. The dr. said it was like a sports injury. Overuse. It just got worse over time cause I would not give it a good rest.

What is knee cartilage? Is it the meniscus or the ends of the bone?

Week 2, down 2.8; 7.4 altogether. Feelin' good weight-wise, less so health-wise, but it will pass.. Here's my question of the week--what kinds of food changes do you make on your SHDs? Just more of the regular choices, or do you go for choices you wouldn't make with fewer points available? I'm considering making tomorrow a high day, and am trying to plan my week...And I nearly forgot to say thank you all for your cheery voices-I need to go to meetings for accountability at the scale, but I come here for a sense of community and support!

Hey cacmsc, WW points are ROUGHLY 50 cals per point, so at your current weight you should eat a TARGET of 22 points a day, plus 35 points to use every week however you want.

That translates to approximately 1350 calories a day, if you use an even 5 flex points a day (which Wendie's followers don't do).

I think with your current cal intake, you are on target, but you might try shaking it up by eating 1100 cals one day and 2000 another; it jump starts your metabolism and keeps your body working.

Hey BoobieAnn, way to go! :D Looking forward to WI tomorrow...cross your fingers! I'm looking for a new holiday dress as a my reward for hitting 10lbs. Only a few to go!

Shellibelli--in answer to yours, sometimes I just KNOW I'm losing and I'm shocked when nothin' shows up on the scale; other times I am CERTAIN that I have gained, yet I'll post a loss...This past week I have felt completely out of touch with my bod--when I have an upper respiratory infection, I'm just like that cartoon lady in the old commercial--my head feels like a balloon extending about 15 feet above my carcass on a thin string. And USUALLY when I'm sick, I gain, even though I don't eat much--pushing the fluids, always, but usually no appetite for solids. It's like my system just shuts off. This round, I forced myself to eat my points each day, even though I had no interest and for most days I couldn't even distinguish flavors--yuck; no joy in food when it doesn't TASTE, right? And I think the eating helped my body keep working, thus I lost. But I don't know. I workin' it, and it's workin', that's all I can say for sure right now...

So how's everybody else doin'?

And how does your bod react to illness?

PS--Winebrat--LOL; my husband calls me "BoobieAnne"; how'd you know? ;-}

WineBrat thanks for the useful information. I am going to give this a whirl. Last night I had a little wine after a stressful day. Is white wine and red the same pts. ? Just thought I'd ask that one for future days. Today I will shoot for less cals. As friday I would like to use as a higher cal day. If I can fit that it would be great and still lose some wt. This week I have been concentrating on just getting back into using a journal counting cals etc. 4 days of being good is a step in the right direction. The days that are lower cals I will have to be creative with lots of fresh veggies and some fruit.

WineBrat that relish sounds yummy too! I think maybe it will be on my menu too. I will have to look for a low cal recipe. Trying to adjust my cals isn't all that easy this takes some adjusting to changing our habits. Tonight we are getting together with friends for dinner. I am going to try to make a nice salad but we are ordering pizza and wings I think. It will be my higher calorie day. On saturday I will do a lower day. Trying to trick my metabloism into working better. Congrats on your loss. Has anyone had problems with wt. gain after increasing your exercise due to muscle wt? That happened to me before and I toned up nicely but wt. was on the higher level. Well take care and keep up the good work everyone. Hopefully I will have something good to report in the future week.

Good morning my WP buddies!!!! I'm having a really bad morning, so I will complain to you guys for a bit. My first WP WI is tomorrow and I am really nervous. I've followed the plan very well this week, and I have even worked out an hour every day, but I don't feel any lighter. I have a tendency to weigh myself in the mornings (bad, I know), just to check my progress, and the scale went UP!!! I am really disheartened right now. The scale at work is very very wrong, but I can judge where I'm at by the fluctuations. Whatever. I won't make any rash decisions until tomorrow, then I will cry (no, blubber) and fall into a great depression. Not really, but I just want to see the scale move, for once. I promised my sister I would give this program 2 weeks, so if it doesn't work I fear I will have to revert back to the old way. Ok, no more whining, I still have to weigh in. Sorry guys, have a great day!!!!

ShellieBellie my friend, don't fret! I TOTALLY thought I'd gain this week and weighed in with trepedation. Also, I tend to weigh more in the AM too - something about processing when you sleep...hang in there. Even if you gain this week, I would bet you would lose a LOT next week if you are being so good about being on plan. Sometimes, our bodies just R E B E L.

And you can whine or wine as much as you want! Last night, I totally started bawling for NO reason watching Grey's Anatomy. Sigh. No not like me, but this week I've just been an emotional basket case. Blah. At least I'm not eating my way through a tub of B&J's this time ;) Ugh, I'm hungry already. HATE THAT. I had such a yummy breakfast of canteloupe and yogurt too. Sigh.

Hi Everyone,
Just found you all today. This plans looks like something i'd love to try. My weight is 134.4 so my points are 20. What would my points each day come out too.

Thank you..

Welcome Vanessa!

It looks like you've had quite a journey and congrats on getting where you are.

One question, what day do you Weigh In?

Your points would be something like this:
Day 1 - 20 points
Day 2 - 25 points
Day 3 - 21 points
Day 4 - 35 points Super High Day (SHD)
Day 5 - 20 points
Day 6 - 24 points
Day 7 - 22 points

Just make sure you keep your SHD as far away from Weigh In as possible because you might gain after that day (you will lose it again so don't worry). Personally, I keep my SHD for the weekends because that's when I tend to do more socializing.

Let us know how you do!

Vanessa, There is a Wendie Plan Sticky if you go to the WW general page. It explains the plan in detail, and it says the points you should follow for your weight. It's really very helpful. I'm not familiar enough with the Plan to give you a daily point schedule, but the girls in here are great, and really motivating. Give it a whirl!!!

What about Activity Points. I workout out a lot. I run about 4-6 miles 5-6 days a week and lift weights 2-3 days a week for 30 minutes.

WineBratSF
11-10-2006, 05:44 PM
Vanessa, eat those activity points! If you are super active like you are, you need to eat them so your body doens't think it's starving.
Lean protein, good carbs, full fat items are really good for your body if you are working out that much. Your body needs a certain amount of that good stuff to work effecticently.

As for the points per day, I mix it up but have lower days before WI and higher days on the weekends. Hope that helps!

Girls is there something about doing the scale in the a.m.? On one of the posts I saw something about not doing the scale in the a.m.? I am questioning this because its the first time I ever heard it. I always do the my scale times at 6:00 a.m. when I get ready for work. If I would have better results at another time of the day hey let me know. I am still trying to get this WP stuff moving forward its hard to get jump started but now that I have visited the scale it might of been the kick in the butt I needed. I think keeping the higher pts. or cals in my case for the weekend as well. Except for Thanksgiving day. That will never be a low pt. or cal day.
Thanks for the good info. on this site. I hope to report a loss at sometime this week. Increasing my exercise and healthy eating habits.

Shellie Bellie - BUMMER! But hang in there...sometimes that just happens.
Cacmsc - I thnk it's just a person to person thing. I don't weigh in the morning because i tend to weigh more (dunno, maybe water retention overnight???) but that's just me.
Vanessa_40 - YAY on the race!

Waaaa my back is so out of whack I can barely walk let alone exerice. SO frustrating.
It will be interesting trying to cook healthy this week since I am having so much pain boohoo. I totally blew off my packed lunch today too. Now I have to find something HEALTHY. It's Monday, and raining and I'm whiney. Sorry! ;-)

About weighing in the morning--according to my doc, whom I love and find to be a brilliant guy, your after-pee second thing in the morning weight is as close as any of us can get to our "true weight"--and it tends to be the lowest of the dayfor most humans. So I HATE that my WI time at work is 3:15--after at least six glasses of water and on my feet in front of a classroom all day. But what is important in tracking weight over time is to have a time and stick to it as closely as possible--my WI weight varies considerably from my morning weight, but both show that I am losing, and they would (will) both show if and when I'm gaining, too.

Tomorrow's my day, and I have no idea how I'm doing this week--I've been "good"--eating on plan and Wendieing my points, so all should be groovy. It is a bit disconcerting, though, to not FEEL anything happening.
I guess I'm a little out of touch with my bod, as my head is otherwise occupied. But usually I can feel myself getting lighter/stronger/more physical. Not this time, though. Oh well.

Off topic--had my first honeycrisp apple this weekend--Oh. My. God. Gotta go grab one now! All my best to all of you as we cycle into a new week of weighing in!

Welcome Vanessa!!!! :welcome3: Your stats are amazing....how long has is taken you to come this far. My hat's off to you girl!

shelliebellie~ I'm sorry about your WI  You have the right attitude...stick with it!!! We're here for ya!

About the morning weigh in thing...I have a 10am meeting & I just make sure I drink plenty of water all week, but even more so the day before...flush any excess water retention.

So my WI is tomorrow morning...I'm nervous as usual. You know, I keep feeling like I am gonna go & all of a sudden be back at my starting weight. I've stayed OP this week & been in the gym...so now I just have to wait & see. I even went out with a bunch of girlfriends last night (a birthday celebration for 3 of them) & made sure I chose accordingly. Funny thing was one of the ladies (who knows I'm doing WW) asked me how many points in my glass of Pinot Noir (yes, just one glass WineBrat) and I told her 2. She then asked how many points in my oh-so-favorite Diet Coke. I told her zero. She gave me a funny look....she was suprised that I chose the wine. I explained that I know my own habits... if I get diet coke, I'll end up getting several refills but if I get wine, I'll stop at one & then drink gobs of water. Sure enough our waiter refilled my water glass like 9 times. I think all in all it was the best choice, especially since I budgeted for the wine ahead of time.

Anyway...I hope you are all having a good Monday.....;)

Hello, all!!

I am rejoining WW tonight after many frustrated attempts to lose my excess fat over the years.

I saw the sticky about the Wendie Plan and boy, does it simplify everything!

I've already made notes about how many points and what days to have them -- can't wait to get to my meeting tonight and find out how much my scale has lied to me, LOL!!

I'd like to post here with you all, if you have room for another person. I know SunshineDaisy from a couple of other locations on the web that we don't frequent any more (Wendy, it's Claire)...

I'll post and keep up with the "doings" here -- the attitude is positive and upbeat -- what a breath of fresh air!!

I'm Claire, turned 54 on Halloween, and really want to get this upholstery off me. yuk. At one time, I looked pretty close to my avatar and hope that I haven't lost ALL my looks as the fat goes away.

Thanks for having me. The biggest attraction to this thread is the complete and total lack of drama queens, princesses, divas and prima donnas. Gotta love it!

I'll clean up my stats as soon as I (gulp!) find out what they are.

Nah, really these are some of the greatest people EVER! I love all of them, and they are all really supportive. My goal is to stay OP and lose these stubbon 2 lbs before thanksgiving. I just HATE that I can't exercise! Stupid back problems. Boohoo! Hopefully I'll be able to earn my points back next week when I'm in better shape to walk around.

Hope you are having a good day!

Hi, guys--sorry, DIVAS o mine! ;-} What IS it about this week?! It seems hard to me suddenly--I am soooo food focused and am scrounging to max the bulk available through my points. I'm staying OP, but am fitful and hungry and whiny and needy!...and it's NOT my TOM. *sigh* We'll get through, right ladies?

I suppose it's just pre-holiday stress--next week will be a challenge for me beyond the food issues. My husband and I will travel to get our son from school 5 hours away, then, instead of coming home to fix a meal for the family to gather around as I normally do, we will travel another two hours away to my sister's home, where she is hospicing through her end days with breast cancer. Family will gather there, I'll cook, and it will be a four day "living funeral"/tribute and giving of thanks for what we've had but will too soon lose. Another level of stress, right? *sigh* *sigh*

I will miss coming in here until the Sunday following, and I will miss WI for the week. But I will think of the support you give me when I'm feeling like crap, OK? And I will send you all the best vibes I can muster.

Sounds like your sister is lucky to have you. Stress surely doesn't help when we are trying to lose wt. how well I know that one. Thinking about you! Hang in there!
WineBrat glad your feeling a little better. I am with you I love those pickles but they are full of fat. So increase the water rinse it out you will take away that little .4 gain.
I have gotten on the scale today as I promised myself I would. I was down 1/2lb. Better than nothing I'll take it. Its not much but more will come off if I do what I am suppose to and I know it. Though the doctor changing my thyroid med. last month might of had some say in my gain. Maybe she should of left it alone. Oh well blood test in a couple of weeks will tell I guess. I exercised last night for 1 hour steam cleaning my carpets. Now that was really a work out. But they look nice and feel so much better to walk on. A little fall cleaning before all my company on Thurs.
Welcome newbies I am also very new to this site. I like it and hope to continue here and see some wt. loss. The support is good and ideas shared are great.

Bobbie- So sorry you are super-stressed:stress: , it's times like those when I just want to give up, and give in. Well, DON'T!!! Well, due to traffic problems last night, I couldn't get to my meeting.

My normal 45 minute commute became two hours! I was not happy, to say the least and acted every inch the diva for a good five minutes.

All right, a diva with a sailor's vocabulary. The interstates were like driving at Talladega under caution. It was just awful.

A WW friend suggested I join this weekend, then go back to what I wanted to be my routine. WW used to not hold meetings on Thanksgiving (my age is showing), so I think I will take her advice because I want to get started!!

Everyone hold it together over the weekend. I'll be thinking about each of us and will be around on the thread.

Cheers!

ShellieBellie, every time I have a high day I feel like that! I had chinese Saturday night and it was good, but I didn't make especially great choices, so I feel a bit like I cheated. Sigh. Have to go to an alternative meeting this week since my leader is on vacation so I'm a bit skittish.

It's socked in fog her today and...as I look out my office window it just got worse. YUCK!

Hope you all have a great Monday - I'm going to get another cup of coffee :coffee: teehee

Hm. Skittish about going to an alternative meeting. I understand how you feel. Don't want to get locked in to a particular meeting only to find out it doesn't help me. My DH works with the regional WW person and of course he put my business on the street, so to speak. She's relayed information about different meetings and I appreciate it, but dagnabbit, I don't want him going to work and talking about his wife being on a diet. He means well, but to me, that's a personal thing. He works in a call center, so everyone knows everyone else's business. :(

Okay, the venting is over, LOL!!

Sounds like several of us have good, solid plans in place for managing the weekend. AWESOME!

I couldn't stand it and weighed myself at home. The scale we have is accurate, but I almost wish it had lied...oy!! I weigh more now than I ever have in my entire life! This is no way to live! I've been eating on plan since then, and am amazed at how many points I've been consuming prior to this. Good gravy, no wonder I got so big!!

But, my bow is turned into the wind, so to speak, and I'm on course. Plan to stay that way too.

You all are so inspirational and I so enjoy coming here and reading posts. As I get to know everyone, I look forward to becoming a ongoing part of this happy, healthy group.

More later!

ShellieBellie congrats on the loss. To lose over the weekend is great! I understand your feelings and being a bit scared but aren't we suppose to be flexing our way through? One day higher then lower then fun day with extras and back down again?
Claire the hubby was not thinking clearly. My guy is small and can eat a house he has a hard time thinking how I worry about my extra lbs. Men like mine that are small and never ever had to have a care about a cal. or pt. or lbs. have no real idea what its like. My hubby could eat til the cows come home and never ever gain. It kills me. And he doesn't like food as I do CAN eat chips dip etc... But I like to cook, experiment and have great tasting food. He just wants to fill his belly. Not fair. So I think men just don't think the same as us. Together on the sites we know how it is and support each other and thats great. Glad you joined us here. I had a good day yesterday til I got home too hungry and ate some ritz crackers which were on the counter from the skinny hubby who left them there. It was my only down fall of the day.

Shellie -- As soon as I shrink out of the fat pants, they will be stored for awhile. Then I will periodically try them on and remember what it was like to be that large. It will be motivation to stay on plan! ;) Congrats on your weekend loss. GREAT!! I also love your avatar photo!!

Firefly -- DH was skinny-skinny and isn't very tall, When he turned 40, the belly appeared and he's now about 190, which is 40 pounds too heavy. When he used to get on me about my weight, I'd just poke his belly and say "e tu, chubby?" LOL I know how hard it is to live with someone who can eat anything and they simply do not understand how we struggle with it.

JasonsLea, best of luck in your search for the position you want. I live in Nashville, so we're not too far from each other. Stay warm!

WineBrat, dad and DH were both sailors, so I guess I come by the language honestly, HA HA...I grew up in So Cal and visited SF on a regular basis. It's always funny when people from TN visit SF and come back talking about how cold it was!

WineBrat, I thought a tube of Ritz crackers WAS a serving!!! ;)

Well, to keep from overeating at my in-laws, we are going with them to eat out at a very fancy buffet. I know exactly what to have and since there are no leftovers, it should be a snap to stay on program. All I gotta do is watch for hidden fat in stuff.

Waterbaby, you kill me! YES a tube is a serving. :-p
Just like a bottle of wine is a serving! YAHHHHHOOOOO!
I'm going to try to be good tomorrow but...listen to the menu:

-Goat Cheese & Onion Tart with Prosecco (me)
-Brussell Sprouts with Pancetta (I hate these buggers but my brother loves 'em so it's all up to him)
-Yam & Apple Casserole (cousin) - now this is probably actually low in points but it looks yum! She's making it at my place tonight so I'll get a sneak peek ;-)
-Turkey of course
-2 kinds of cranberry sauce (me again but I know it's almost no points)
-some other veg Pinot Noir with the Mains
-Pumpkin Pie & Apple Pie with Port or Muscat and coffee

They don't call me the wine brat for nothin

YUM!

My back is nearly 100% so I'm back to my pilates. I'm also trying to buy a Turbo Jam dvd on eBay. Hopefully I'll love it!

WineBrat sounds like a lovely menu. Enjoy your day. Lots of tempting things out there thats a sure thing. I am going shopping with my daughters and girl friends at midnight. My WI is on Saturday so I use Sunday for my SHD, thank goodness!

And get this -- my meeting is at the YMCA, so of course I have to exercise, too, as soon as I can. One reason I selected the meeting at that location was so it would motivate me to exercise.

cc, shopping at midnight with the girls sounds like such fun!! Hope it was a blast.

WineBrat, that menu sounded delish! Hope you made it through with flying colors!!

I have to say it was fun but the sales weren't any better than they were at 5 a.m. So next year we most likely will just do that. I was in bed by 5:30 last night and slept straight through til around 5 this a.m. But feel good now. I have to say I was no angel on thanksgiving dinner wise not bad but the before snacks not so good. I have a birthday party to attend today and will try my best to have better control not sitting over the snack stuff. Boy it is not so easy thats forsure good thing thurs was my high day. Yesterday was better I did have homefries with my eggs but that was my naughty for the day and lots of walking. So maybe I wore it off. Scale on monday. Take care everyone and going out to eat I bet is easier at least not to be so tempted the whole day long.

Hi everyone! How was your Thanksgiving?

waterbaby
11-25-2006, 02:23 PM
cc, glad you had fun. I was no angel either, LOL!

Shari, my DH and inlaws and I went to a nice buffet instead of the traditional stuffing match. The food was pretty good; I had tilapia, green beans, mashed potatoes and a slice of candied yam.

I had made plan-friendly sweet potato pie and pumpkin pie and cherry tarts. We split it all with my inlaws (my FIL is diabetic and my MIL is hypoglycemic) so we don't have a lot of leftovers in the house or anything.

Had my initial weigh in this morning AAAAAAAH! :o I am the size of a small heifer! YEEK!

No one in the group seemed inclined to talk to me, but I think it's because I'm new. The are an active group and that makes a big difference.

I was told that the program had been changed and we'd be getting the new materials mid-December. The leaders also said they couldn't tell us any more than that. My SHD is tomorrow.

I broke down and told my DH how much I weighed. I have NEVER done that with anyone. He didn't turn a hair, but simply said "so I guess you have about one-fifty to lose, huh." I asked him if he were surprised, he said no, I figured you must weigh something close to that.

Well! That was a surprise. I was so sure he'd look down his nose at me, but he didn't and is very, very supportive.

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend. Weather is beautiful, and so are we!!

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this plan, and if you feel this has been OVERALL worthwhile and/or successful for you. I have tried to piece this together through reading this thread, but was just wondering what your thoughts were on this process.
Hope to hear your comments!

freiamaya, I'm enjoying it so far. I would give you the same recommendation as 2beskinny4me, above: if you haven't already, do read the sticky on WP at the top of this forum for WW General. The ladies who post here, for the most part, have been doing this for quite some time and I have never seen one negative or even lukewarm comment. Hi, all--I'm back and checking in. Had a great four days with my sister--My younger son was with us from college, and as he's spending next semester in France, this was his last opportunity to spend some time with her. It was a remarkably stress-free event--even cooking a meal for 10 in another woman's kitchen didn't spazz me out. Tuesday I'll weigh in after missing this past week's; then I will know what sort of damage or lack thereof these past two weeks have wrought...My eating is fine, and "Wendieing" gives me even more flexibility--or so it seems...Sounds like you're all doing fine, too. Welcome to the newbies, and cheers to all!--Bobbie

That would be where I was at a couple of months ago. Just trying to get it there. Not too high of a goal for before christmas. WineBrat stressful things are never easy while watching our figures. Good luck. Here it has been unseasonably warm in the high 50's to 60's snow in the weather for friday and saturday. Skinny oh how right you are with the holidays you can feel pretty yuk after all that how well I know. I think my body may not like it, but whenever I have a bad weekend (or bad Mon and Tues) I seem to lose more weight. I think I may just need to adjust the days I go over and the days I stay OP. Does any of you guys change the plan up to fit your body? Did it work better for you? Let me know, because I really want to work my points to fit my body, but I'm not really sure what my body likes. 11-28-2006, 01:42 PM
Shellie, I'm with you there. I'm having a hard time getting back on track in general, WP or not.

I am finding that I have a more steady weight loss on the WP than on my regular points. On regular points, I might lose 1/2 a lb and then gain 2, lose 4, gain 1, etc. WP seems to work better for me BUT everyone is different. I think it's important to pay attention to what points you are eating each day, and try to really mix it up.

Don't feel back, I have been devouring the world since Thanskgiving! The day itself was good, then I just went downhill.

Ah well, today is the first day of the rest of my life and so on.
TODAY I will eat on plan.
TODAY I will have my water ;)

waterbaby
11-28-2006, 02:17 PM
Shellie, I lose better when I stay away from some foods.

I lose better with:

turkey instead of chicken;
rice instead of potatoes
salmon instead of tuna
cauliflower instead of broccoli
Bragg's aminos instead of soy sauce or tamari

My skin shrinks faster when I eat a little soy every day, usually tofu (hidden in something) or edamame for a snack.

Also, if I eat a big breakfast, medium lunch and small dinner I seem to lose better.

I got this big by eating sugar and fat to soothe my emotions and it's time for that to stop. Eating like a four-year-old doesn't help me, but I like it, so I struggle a little. If I never had to cook again, I'd be happy, but life doesn't work that way, sigh...

It's still a daily learning process and I agree that baby steps are the only way to get to Skinnyville...

Hang in, cool cats and kittens... ;)

And to top it all off, I paid tribute to the sugar and fat problem by unconsciously selecting a gingerbread man as my ticker!!! LOL!

Hey, 'brat, seems like we're in similar situations with regard to helping to ease a loved one on to the next place--It makes me wonder: Does stress alone[I] cause us to fail to lose/maintain/gain despite making every logical effort? I gotta say, I feel STUPID and DEPRIVED to have been so "good" in the face of so many opportunities to be "bad" during last week's day after day of holiday treats and incredible room-service offerings--had I known I was gonna be UP on the scale, I woulda HAD that piece of chocolate silk pie; I woulda said thank you very much, and pass the bowl again! to the Party Mix; I absolutely woulda dipped a chip or twenty-seven into the "Santa Claus" dip--all family holiday season traditions I was able to graciously and simply refuse. And I woulda had more than the single glass of wine that I had all week--God knows, there were times I coulda simply swigged straight from the bottle!

Why did I gain? [I]Why? It makes no sense to me. But I did go away from the kitchen last night. And it is a new day. And I am gonna stick it out and see what comes NEXT Tuesday. It would be completely irresponsible to do otherwise.

My best to all of you, truly--This thing we are doing is HARD. If we can help each other, we must.

Hello Everyone...Sorry I have been gone..

I got the Flu about 2 1/2 weeks ago and that turned into Bronchitis...What a mess. I am still not completely healthy but I am Much better.

I started Substituting in our local High School last week. I could barely talk I was still so sick but I wasnt going to say no because I want to get in there full time as a Teachers Aid. The certification test is in Janurary.
It was kind of funny, They said it was with the Special Education Department...So I thought sure I can do that (thinking Down Syndrome, Learning Disabled or Handicapped) WRONG!!! It was the Emotional Disturbed ~ Behaviorally Inappropriate students...LOL! They seemed to be good kids..just off the wall.
It was definately interesting. But a good start.

Weigh ins havent been bad. I have been on a plateau which is expected when being sick. My body holds on to everything when I am sick. But I have to say, I did not gain...I Maintained. So that is great! I know I can maintain when I get to my goal. It is also a lesson in patients. LOL!

Tonight is Weigh in and I am feeling better. It should good. If not, It will be next week.

I did really well for Thanksgiving...My leader told us to just eat what we REALLY LOVE! And I did that. I had Turkey, mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Cranberry Sauce and I was good.
I skipped those high points foods like Green been casserole and Stuffing and Pumpkin Pie...Wine...
I had a 1/16 Cherry Pie and Apple pie so that I had a small piece of pie..
but I made Pumpkin Fluff and I was happy with that for desert.
And I was not stuffed and wanting to nap after dinner. It felt Great!

Here is the recipe for the Pumpkin Fluff

Pumpkin Fluff

1 15 oz. can of Pure Pumpkin
1 small box Sugar Free Fat Free Pudding
(Your favorite Flavor, vanilla, French Vanilla, Chocolate, White chocolate or Cheese Cake)
4 oz. FF Cool Whip (1/2 a 8 oz. bowl)
1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (I used Apple Pie Spices, I prefer the flavor)

Mix pumpkin and pudding mix together...stir well
Fold in Cool Whip...Chill

1/2 cup is 0 points

It is so good.

Anyways...I will be back tomorrow to let you know how weigh in went.

Glad to see that everyone is doing so good...

Bobbie, There are many factors that could make you gain. Do you journal your food? Go back to read about what you are eating? Are you eating a lot of carbs, that can cause some problems. Sugar and Salt can do the same. It may be a hormonal gain also...you may be retaining water...drink extra water, it combats water retention. Are you making sure you are eating 5 servings of Fruits and Veggies...mostly veggies? And getting your milks and Oils in...They are important...Dont be so worried about a little gain now and again, it happens and it wil go away. Stess is a huge determinator of how our bodies react also. Not getting enough sleep can stop us from losing also...Many time when I am stressed, I dont sleep. And I dont lose.
Try not to look at how much you were deprived, but how well you did...You succeeded! You were strong enough to resist those things that are bad for us and stay strong and not eat even though it was right under your nose. Congratulations!!!! Find your self some good recipes that you can substitute for those foods...Make a great FF Sour Cream dip and get some Celery, Carrots, Cauliflower or any other veggies you love and eat that...Of get some Weight Watchers Vanilla Yogurt and get some Great apples, Pears, Grapes and any other fruits you love and eat that...
It is not deprivation...Eat Healthy, Eat Good Food and Be happy that you did it! It is for life, A long healthy life.

Brat
If you really want something. Have a small portion. Count your Points...Deprivation is bad. If you do that all the time, you will break. My leader always tells us that we can not do that. Weight Watchers is not a diet, it is a life style and you have to be able to live with what you are doing. Can you continue to eat only the foods you are eating now and avoid all your favorite foods? Probably not...Moderation, Preperation and Planning is the key...You are doing great!

Stacy, You are doing Great! Keep up the great work!

Claire...I was reading wondering if that was you...After reading what you wrote a couple of post back, I knew it was you! How are you doing? Glad you are doing WW...WP is great! How is everything?
Glad to see you!

Well I have to go...Andrea (my 4 year old) has to be to school at 1 pm. It is noon now...got to get her dressed and go.

Have a great day!

T minus 3.5 hours til WI...

Bobbie - I think stress contributes for sure. Stress triggers horomones, which not only contribute to the emotional eating, but to the body holding on to fat. I feel your frustration! That's why I've been on WW so many times...but I am DETERMINED to get back on track and not to give up like in the past.
You might never know why you gained, sometimes your body just goes what your body does. One week, I exercised every day, ate my points and my AP, but not over, and still gained. It's just the way it goes. HUGS!

Daizy - I am not deprived. If I want something I have it and I count it. However, I also know my trigger foods and it's not worth it to buy Ben & Jerry's because I know I won't have just 1/2 cup. I just got lazy that's all; I wasn't thinking about what I really wanted and I really wasn't paying attention to my body saying "STOP EATING you silly goose, you're not hungry!"

And congrats on breaking your plateau! That's WONDERFUL!!!! :goodscale:

Darn emotional eating is why I got big in the first place. Tackling that is the hardest part. The physical part is the cakewalk for me.

:dizzy:

Today is a NEW WEEK and so far I had 3/4 c frozen berries with 1/2 c greek yogurt and 1 tbsp maple syrup. Only 2.5 pts and i'm SO full! At least I know I can eat yummy food and stay on OP, it';s just a matter of the brain talking to the stomach. Heehe reminds me of my FAVORITE tech support addage -

Hey, don'tcha think we should all flaunt our inner divas? I do; never have thought of it as an insult...if we don't celebrate our own powerful presence, how on earth can we expect anyone else to, right?

Say, is it maybe a good idea to go to a second thread for the Wendies of us? 14 pages is kinda big...

I'm having a good week, I think--but don't ask how until after I weigh in next Tuesday--that will tell whether what I perceive as a good week actually is; after all, I have been painfully wrong recently...

Hope everyone else is doing fine; the weather sucks here in the northeast, but that just means we finally caught up with the crap the rest of you have dealt with as this storm has trudged across the continent. Well, so long as it keeps on trudgin', we'll all be out from under soon. Cheers, all!

I'm a trained operatic mezzo-soprano who has worked a good bit.

I can tell you that there is a BIG difference between being a diva and a prima donna.

Being diva is a good thing!

Being a prima donna is not... ;)

By the way, I lost 1.8 this week -- my first weigh in!!

It might have been more had I not been so bloated. Oh, well. I'll catch more next week.

Meanwhile, all of us are doing fabulously!! I am so thankful for everyone here, truly.

And we are all fabulous divas, dahlings!!
