Default What is your weekly grocery list?

I was just wondering what everyone typically bought when they go grocery shopping. I feel I have enough variety but occassionally get bored and would love to see what everyone else does. I also feel like I buy too much, though it is all pretty healthy and gets eaten. I live with roommates and we all keep seperate groceries.

I grocery shop every ten days and this is what I typically buy:
A 1/2 pound of coffee
10 pounds of apples (my roommates suggest I may be addicted)
1 loaf natures own double fiber bread
2 box of kashi tasty little chewy granola bars
1 box of kashi hot cereal
1 whole chicken
About once every two month a bag of whole grain flour
Loose chamomile
Fruit leather
a pound bag of carrots
fresh spinach (eh well not in the past two weeks)
2 cans of tomatos
Two quarts of stoneyfield farm yogurt (vanilla)
Five 6oz cups of yogurt (other flavors)
A pint of hummus
2 cans of beans
2 cans of tomatoes
3 bags of frozen veggies
2 cans of tuna
On sale fruits and veggies
And one bag of spicy thai potato chips to get me through any snackiness because i can't eat more then a few at a time.
1/2 and 1/2 for coffee
1/2 gallon skim milk
1/2 gallon soy milk
honey
natural peanut butter
health harvest pasta

On Sundays, I menu plan and figure out what I am making for dinner Mon - Thurs. I go to the grocery store after work on Friday to get stuff for Fri - Sun (I buy a lot of produce and I don't like it to go bad).

Here is my grocery list from yesterday - breakfast/lunches/4 dinners. Two nights I am having home made pasta sauce, 2 nights I am having omelettes (the pasta sauce makes 4 servings, I plan to freeze 2 servings for some other time). My list doesn't look quite like this, I chunked it out so you can see what I'm doing with the things I bought.

Breakfast - currently addicted to peanut butter toast (my breakfast of choice for like a year now, I guess I'll get tired of it someday)

Bread - Healthy Way sprouted 20 grain
Natural peanut butter

Lunch - packing salads to take to work 4 days, I go out to lunch 1 day
Spinach
Grape tomatoes
Orange pepper
Carrots
Grilled chicken breast (enough for 4 salads)
(I already have dried cranberries)

Pasta sauce

3 cans tomato
tomato paste
sun dried tomato
fresh basil
onion
Morning star farms veggie crumbles
A few crimini mushrooms
(I already have garlic, red cooking wine, olive oil, pasta)

Omelettes

Sun dried tomatoes
Onion
baby shrimp
(will use some of the leftover spinach from the salad)
artichoke hearts
(I already have eggs and salsa)

5 tangelos (for snacks)
5 fat free plain yogurts
2 packages of raspberries (to eat with the yogurt, they go bad so quickly, I will stop and buy more on Wednesday)

Every day, I take a baggie of veggies to work:

Grape tomatoes
Carrots (will use some from the carrots I bought for salads)
Red pepper
Package of sugar snap peas

Trader Joe's whole wheat bread
Chicken drumsticks (I freeze 'em so not every week)
Maybe some tilapia fillets
Pasta sauce
Barilla plus multigrain pasta
A couple bags of frozen mixed veggies (stir-fry mix)
Lactaid skim milk
Cream of wheat (once a month or so)
Fruit spread (100% fruit)
Smucker's natural peanut butter (every 2 1/2 weeks or so)
Stir-fry sauce (as needed)
Jerk seasoning marindade
Trader Joe's curry simmer sauce
Got lots of rice, so don't need to buy all the time

That's about it. I'm trying to keep my grocery bill to about $20/week right now, and it works pretty well with this list.

Ha! I'm shopping at lunch today as my cupboard is bare.

Eggs (18)
quart of lf plain yogurt
cottage cheese
1/2 gallon 1% milk
EVOO
apples - Galas on sale!
mushrooms
veggie crumbles
oatmeal
ww bread
natural pb (going to try the grind-it-yourself as the Adams (only brand available) is just not doing it for me!)
white whole wheat flour - if my market has it

I have on hand:

canned tomatos
canned beans: kidney, black
tomato paste
boneless, skinless chicken breasts
wild salmon (DH caught)
frozen raspberries & strawberrries (we grew)
frozen broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, spinach (we grew)
lettuce - last of this year's garden
tomatos - last of this year's greenhouse
canned tuna
canned turkey
Barilla pasta, several varieties
rice - brown, white, Jasmine, wild
lentils
raisins
walnuts
several varieties of hot and cold cereals

Gosh, it sounds like we could get stranded for weeks and be fine. I just start picturing my cupboards and realize how much stuff I have! And this doesn't include the things I buy for DH alone (or mostly): ice cream, full fat yogurt, puddings (those little cups), butter, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, chocolate chips (for cookies)

These are the "staples" that I buy almost every week. From this, I add items that I have run out of or that I need for a special recipe. I usually shop at 3 stores each week, and I order from Schwan's also my list is by store:

Costco
carrots (actually, these are for the dogs)
milk (fat free)
tomatoes
chicken strips (already grilled and cut into strips for salads)
fruit (whatever looks good at a good price without having to buy a ton)
fish
100% whole wheat bagels

Trader Joe's
apples
pears
bananas
salads (usually regular Romaine, baby Romaine and spinach)
berries (assorted, fresh)
broccoli
cauliflower
mini sweet peppers
canned beans
fresh brushetta sauce
whole wheat pizza dough (and toppings)
cheese (blue and mozzarella)
other fruits and veggies as needed
nuts
dried fruits
salad dressing (love their Raspberry dressing)
fish or turkey

Von's
100% whole wheat bread
fat free yogurt in a variety of flavors (my DH likes Yoplait best)
green onions
any other fruits or veggies that I can't find elsewhere
cereal for the kids
frozen waffles for DS
cream cheese
toiletries and other odds and ends

Schwan's (home delivery)
chicken
steaks
ice cream cones (for DS and DH)

I know that Schwan's can be a bit pricey, but their chicken is the only chicken that my kids like (it is injected with a brine to keep it moist) and their steaks are small and everything is individually wrapped and frozen which makes it so much easier for me!

I hope noone minds if I jump in here. I don't always need everything on this list because I keep a pretty well-stocked larder but I buy them very regularly. I always plan my menu, work out what I need for them and then check to see what I already have.

Produce

I always buy:
bananas
apples
mandarin oranges
grapes
red, yellow and orange peppers
onions (although I've gotten lazy lately and have started buying frozen onions, already chopped)
snow peas and sugar snap peas
a small bag of new potatoes
garlic
fresh ginger root
Pumpkin (when in season - to process and freeze myself at home)
spinach
broccoli and cauliflower
courgettes (zucchini)
Prepared stir-fry veggies (I like them fresh not frozen and I like them even better when they're already cut up for me!)

I'll also buy other items I may need for a particular recipe like:
mushrooms
lemon grass
butternut squash
shredded lettuce
cucumber
aubergine (eggplant)

Meat

Chicken breasts
Salmon
Cod
Prawns

Also buy (for specific recipes)

lean minced meat (beef or lamb)
lean beef or lamb for stew
Minced soy (I usually always use textured soy for bolognese sauces and chilis)

Carbs

Brown rice
Chinese noodles
Wholewheat pasta (usually spaghetti and penne)
Couscous
Quinoa
Granary bread and rolls
Wholewheat tortillas (yeah my grocery store only just started stocking these!)
Wholewheat pita (or pitta, as it's called here in the UK)
Scotch oats
Wholegrain Cheerios
Bran Flakes

Cans and jars

A variety of canned beans (like borlotti, cannelini, chick peas, kidney)
tons of canned tomatoes
Passata (tomato sauce)
tomato paste
anchovies
black olives
green olives
Artichoke hearts
roasted red peppers
a variety of canned fruit (I really love papaya and my 2 yr old loves peaches and fruit cocktail)
tuna
salmon
teryaki
soy (light and dark)
EVOO
red and white vinegar
balsamic vinegar
rice vinegar

Dairy

Skimmed milk
LF block of cheddar
Feta
Cheese strings for the kids
free-range eggs
Greek yoghurt
fromage frais (for the 2 yr old)
Mozzarella, Swiss, Gouda or Brie for certain recipes

Frozen

A variety of frozen veggies (always onion, baby corn, cabbage and brussel sprouts - other choices vary)
Frozen summer fruits (for my daughter's smoothies and to have in my porridge)
LF roasted potatoes (which I don't really like but my husband, being English, is all about the roasted potatoes!)

Spices (I have a cupboard of nothing but herbs and spices but I regularly run out of these)

Curry powder
Chili powder
Italian seasoning
Cinnamon
Cumin
Tandoori spice
Chinese 5 spice

Snacks

Walnuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts and almonds
LF pretzel snacks
Snack o Jacks rice cakes (cheese flavored and caramel flavored)
Dried fruits like prunes, apricots, cranberries, dates and figs (mostly for porridge topper)
