Hello everyone:

This is our new thread entitled "Just DEW It!" Diet, Exercise & Water

We were originally "The Diet Journey of 2006" and we decided to freshen up our appearance and look for some new members.

Don't be shy, just jump right in and introduce yourself. We like to talk about motivation, exercise, food, recipes, and general chatter. We normally post our weight loss weekly. We do different diet programs so whatever one you chose, come take a walk with us and chat on the road to a better you!

Hope to see you here!

OK girls our new thread is started!

WW points were ok yesterday.

B: oatmeal 2
L: banana, no fat muffin, pretzels 10
D: ham & RF cheese omelette & toast 12
S: 1/2 no fat muffin 4

These are guesses but I think they're pretty close, total of 28 points for the day. Not too bad, especially after Tuesday.

Maybe we should re-introduce ourselves in case we get new members.

I'm married with two kids, boy 12, girl 10 and live in Connecticut. I work as a secretary. Hobbies (besides eating) reading, baking, bargain hunting. My current goal is to find time for myself and in doing that...get into the exercise mode and start using my new bicycle.

FYI: Here's a link to the old thread we were posting on:

Hi Ladies! Thanks Mo for starting the new thread. Hopefully we can get some newbies!

I'm Nori, live in Washington state, 35yo, married to J since 1999, 2 daughters ages 3y (in November) and 18m. I've been fat for most of my adult life, and obese for at least 10. My high weight was 284 about 8 years ago and then I lost 115 pounds very quickly, on a VLCD, only to gain almost all of it back over the past 7 years. Finally last January I heard that "click" in my head and decided to get healthy for me and my kiddos...that and the fact that I was growing out of all my size 20's. I try to eat 5 300 calorie meals a day and exercise 5 days a week. My weight loss has been slow, but I've been learning alot about what works and odesn't work for me.

Hey everyone! My name is Shannon, I'm 22 and have been married for 4 years to Josh. We have two daughters, Morgan, 2, and Hailey, 4 months. I weighed in at 228 lbs the day I had my second daughter, and now I'm down 40 lbs. I've been stuck at 187-189 for almost two months now (I weighed 188.8 this morning). I'd really like to lose 2 lbs a week, but I'm breastfeeding and that seems to effect my supply. That also means that I need 200-500 more calories a day! Ugh! It's hard to eat enough calories, but I do what I can do.

Anyhow, I can't wait to join in the chat! :grouphug: I don't have a whole lot of free time, but I'll be here when I can!

10-12-2006, 05:09 PM
Hi Shannon! WELCOME! I have 2 dd's also and understand not having a whole lot of free time. I didn't lose weight easily while breastfeeding either - and it was hard with the whole supply issues also. Worth it though! Congrats on the 40+ pounds gone! Being stuck at a certain point is a whole lot better than going up.

Off to work...

Hi.I'm Lynn.I'm 40 and live in Ma.I have one daughter 12.Married to a great guy for 3years now.My goal is to lose 10 more pounds.I haven't lost in awhile and I know I have to stop sabotageing myself.I am a Weight Watcher though have been loosely trying the fatsmash diet.I cheat too much on that so I am going back to core again.I did pick up a couple of good habits there that i will continue.Re:oatmeal and yogurt.
My exercise for today is as follows:
weight training class-60 min.
arc trainer-35 min.
My eating today has been OP so far.My water intake is 75ounces.

Hi - I'm Ashley, live in South Carolina, 47yo, divorced, 2 grown children.

After yo-yo dieting forever, I ballooned up to 229 a couple of years ago. Finally got serious, paid for a couple of visits with a nutritionist and exercise counselor and dropped 40 pounds. After keeping it off for two years, the weight started creeping back up this summer, so here I am.

I'm counting calories, eating every few hours and drinking lots of water. I was exercising very faithfully, but had shoulder surgery a couple of weeks ago so the exercise was basically halted. I'm back to walking 5,000 steps per day, so slowly building back up, but it will be a long time before I can get back to kick-boxing at the gym.

I joined 3FC in late August, and have found the support to be a tremendous help to my efforts. The challenge thread keeps me accountable to report my challenge results every day. 3FC is a godsend!

10-13-2006, 10:46 AM
Good morning ladies!!

I was so excited this morning when I logged on and found three new ladies joined our group! I guess the new thread did the trick. Hopefully some of our old buddies will find us and join us here too.

Hello Shannon: glad you're here. Congrats on the new baby, oh to be a mom of an infant again, besides cuddling an infant one of the things I miss most is the smell of the body wash and powders! I hope your daughter Morgan is adjusting well to being a big sister. I miss walking with the stroller and spending time at the park. Boy, those days go by SO fast!!!

Hi Lynn: Wow, what a great exercise regimen, I need to get my butt moving. I was tired just reading your list. What part of Mass do you live in? What is fatsmash? Great job on your water intake, I really stink at that. It's not that I don't like it, I just forget and when I do remember I'm running to the bathroom every 20 minutes. By the way, I love your sign on name. My goal is to in shape by 40 which will be in 5 short months :?:

Ashley: so nice to meet you. It sounds like that nutritionist really helped. I like the idea of more smaller meals, that's what Nori does. I have been keeping some snacks and filling in with them between meals. Mostly fruit and an occasional small amount of pretzels or light popcorn.

Kim: I'll shorten the title of the thread next week. I just wanted our new members to know what DEW stood for. Do you think we should start a new thread each week? Congrats on -3!! I hope Aunt Flo comes and goes quickly...move away from the chocolate! I found some chocolate biscotti that has only 2 does the trick for the chocolate fix.

Nori: you haven't said much about the new job, how's it working out? What are you doing again, I have a terrible memory! I somehow don't forget to eat though!

Yesterday I was low on my points because I got disgusted with myself for eating my kids leftovers and for punishment I made that be my dinner.
B: oatmeal & tea 2
L: popcorn, banana, yogurt 2
D: kids leftovers: 1/2 chicken tender, two bites of
mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup of chicken noodle soup,
2 slices of buffalo chicken (from the deli) 9
S: tea and biscotti, mini lollipop 3
Water: 20 oz?? Points: 16

I can't wait to get to know everyone better and I can't wait to weigh in on Monday. I really want to start exercising. Tonight I have to go with DD to school from 7-9 for an astronomy thing. Some guy brings telescopes in so I'm sure I'll be outside freezing my butt off.

Talk to you guys later.

Mo - I'm a billing rep at a large Family Practice/Residency Program. There's around 100 employees, including docs and residents. It's a nice place. The peditrician I take the girls to works there too - so that's a nice perk. I'm a lab teck by training, but this schedule worked better with DH's school schedule and the girls right now.

YEAH, more posters here! Nice to meet you ladies.

Ashley, it sounds like you and I are doing the same "plan". You're having great success!

Lynn - what is the FatSmash diet? I've heard about it (probably on TV?) before, but don't know anything about it. You are SO close to your goal! WTG!

Well, I have a full day at work today and have to take my girls to daycare now. I don't think I can log on here anymore at work. They just installed some security filters and it sucks!

10-13-2006, 01:48 PM
Oh boy, I just spent 90 minutes on the phone with Cingular straightening out my new phone bill. They overcharged me $130+ Then I went to the credit union and found out that a check DH friend gave me for $1,100 bounced and is being returned and I'll be charged a $25 fee. Then I realized I paid my Comcast bill twice (and it was a double bill $304.00!). DH is away and the money he left for me, he thought it was spending money for me but didn't realize I had to pay the babysitter the two weeks he would be away. He told me to go to the bank but I don't have time! He's going to owe me big time when he gets home this weekend!!

I'm starting to get a headache. Now I just realized it's Friday the 13th!!! I think I'll skip a real lunch and treat myself to a couple slices of pizza tonight!

Wow, when I logged on I thought, my goodness, am I behind. Anyway nice to see all the new people.

I'm Serena, 29 almost 30, married for almost 10 years with 3 boys (1,3, and 5). I've been overweight for about 6 years now. My weight gain started witha medical condition and continued with babies and lack of control. I've been on WW for about 3 months now (This is not my first time) I've lost 11 pounds. If I had followed the plan just like I was suppose to I would be about 18 pounds lighter by now. Anyway, I started WW after my first baby and lost about 15 pounds when I found out I was pregnant again. I tried going back on it several times but my heart just wasn't in it so of course it didn't work. I had hoped to be a lot farther by my 30th bday but that is only in about a week so it's not gonna happen but maybe atleast by my 10th anniversary.

Anyway, it's nice to hear from everyone and good luck to everyone.

10-13-2006, 10:47 PM
Hi ladies, I was just checking in. I hope everyone does good this weekend and I hope I get to do some exercise! I have a lot of cleaning to do tomorrow after soccer. I thought I'd surprise DH and half the house half way clean for when he comes home :D

He said he was going to bring me some of my favorite candies. I said well just get a few for my Christmas stocking. Of course he tells me on the phone the other night he bought a whole case of them!!

Good night.

This looks like a great thread for support with so many people joining. Maybe one of the old-timers who brought over the thread can explain how/when the weigh-in takes place?

What do you find to be your biggest challenge to losing and maintaining the loss? For me, the problem seems to be exercise. I'm going along doing well with the diet, excerise and water when something happens to keep me from exercising for a few weeks. This sets off a really bad cycle. For some reason, when I stop exercising my body I start exercising my mouth and just shovel in the food. Then I have a really hard time getting started back at a regular exercise routine. I have to remind myself constantly that this really is a lifetime change, not just a "diet". While it's OK to have a bad day here and there, I MUST keep up the routine.

10-14-2006, 10:12 AM
Hi i just started WW last week, i only lost 1 pound the 1st week and stuck to it to theT. started at 185. Any one got any uplifting hints!!!

10-14-2006, 01:04 PM
Hi Sara, I am doing WW as well and one of my problems that I've caught myself doing is I've miss counted my points on occassion (like if you miss read the fiber, calories or fat it can cause you to be off tramendously) or if I miss read the serving size that can throw you way off. (Like the pepperidge farm crispy pot pies, each one of those is actually 2 servings) The more water you drink the better things tend to work. Or something else that can throw you way off. For example: Like on the back of a cookie box if it says a serving is 1 cookie and it turns out to be 1 point for that cookie and then you eat 4 cookies it's not going to be 4 points for those 4 cookies. Snackwells cream filled cookies. 1 point per cookie. If you eat 4 it's 5 points. I use to see them as 1 point each but then my mother started buying the boxes that have packs of 4 in them and when I figured it up it was 5 points for the pack. I hope this hasn't confused you. Just make sure if you eat more than 1 serving you double the numbers you use for fiber carlorie and fat and you won't go wrong. I actually haven't been doing real well because I can't seem to stay within my points. If I didn't dislike vegetables so much I'm sure I could do much better.
I hope this has helped and good luck.

10-14-2006, 01:36 PM
Thanks so much for your imput!! Glad to see all these caring people on here! I actually stay a little under my points so that i dont go over , maybe im not eating enough? ya think?

10-14-2006, 02:57 PM
I know it's hard, but try not to be disappointed with a 1 pound loss your first week. You really have to look at it as a long-term loss rather than where you are from week to week. There are so many factors that go into what you weigh on any given day. Just the different clothes you have on at the two weigh-ins can make the difference of a pound or two. That time of the month, water retention, level of exercise, etc. can also make a difference. You will gradually lose the weight if you're staying within the point range and some weeks you will see a bigger loss than other weeks. Hang in there and keep the faith! We're here to be cheerleaders for you.

10-14-2006, 06:58 PM
Sara: something that our WW consultant stresses to us regularly is that you have to eat atleast your miminum number of points because if you go below your points your metabolism will slow down and you won't be able to lose the weight. So deffinately eat at least the mimimum that your suppose to, and just keep at it cause that's the most important thing.

I hope everyone else is doing well also.

10-14-2006, 10:49 PM
Hello ladies:

I'm glad to see our thread is still growing.

Sarah: I always find it takes two weeks to show my loss (or gain when I've been bad). Maybe it's the same for you. Besides, one pound is nothing to sneeze at!

I kind of went off tonight but I'm using my bonus points. My sister came over to help me hang up curtain rods and turn my mattress and she ended up staying to help me clean up a little so I brought her and the kids out for dinner. It was just a local pub so the menu had no diet food. I had one buffalo wing (with bleu cheese :o ) and a half a burger, diet coke and a little popcorn.

As far as weigh in, I weigh in on Monday and so do a couple of others I think. Serena weighs in on Tuesday nights I think at her meeting. We're flexible, I just like Mondays because it helps me psychologically over the weekend....except for tonight! :o

10-15-2006, 08:53 PM
Hi ladies:

I'm actually looking forward to weighing in tomorrow. I know from too much past dieting experience that my 2nd week is always my biggest loss :D

I've always hated the thought of exercise and have never gone to a gym other than for a free trial visit. I am giving it serious consideration though. A friend of mine told me tonight that she'd join with me but I just don't know if I'll stick with it or if our schedules were allow us to go at the same time. I'm one of those people who can do nothing on their own.

They opened a planet fitness about 10 minutes from me and it's only $19.99 a month for a one year commitment (including tanning and unlimited guests which means I could go with DH occasionally when the kids weren't an issue) or $15 a month with no commitment, no tanning and no guests.

I'm just so weak and have no endurance I don't want to get discouraged and then give up. But I guess if I don't go at all, I've already given up haven't I?

Any suggestions? Should I give it a try?

P.S. I still am drinking no water :( HELP!!

Hello everyone !! I'm Erika Leigh, 18 and engaged to Amanda.

I've been strugling with my weight since I was very young. I got serious about my weight loss when I was 14 and then gained alot back right after my only sister died.

I am now very serious because I am going to be TTC in almost a year.

DEW it sounds like the thread for me to be active in! Just as of today, I have increased my water intake ( and cut out soft drinks ) in hope to help me DEW it!!

Thanks for reading! And I look foward to getting to know you all alot more!

Erika Leigh

Good morning ladies:

I lost 3.2 lbs this week :carrot: :carrot: Week 2 total: 5.8

Welcome Erika, good to have another "loser" on board!

Kim: DH came home around midnight Saturday. The kids stayed up till 1:30 they were so excited. I didn't go to sleep till 3:00 a.m. helping DH unpack all his duty free goodies. I made him put all the candy into a suitcase and lock it away. He was very impressed with the bedroom. I finally got around to hanging curtains, doing the bedskirt, new linens, putting away clothing bins, dusting, cleaning, etc., it finally is on it's way to looking like a master bedroom. Now I have to put some stuff on the walls!

I'm inching my way to the gym, I fished out a pair of capri sweats and a large t-shirt, I packed them with a pair of sneakers in case I decide to join on the way home.

Yesterday I went to mom's for dinner at 3 p.m. I got up so late I was able to skip breakfast and lunch. I had a very small steak, small baked potato, green beans and a tiny spoonful of baked macaroni, a piece of angel food cake (then I caved and had a very small piece of chocolate was my brothers birthday). Anyway I stayed under my points even though it wasn't the healthiest menu.

I can't wait to hear from each of you.

10-16-2006, 01:17 PM
Sorry I don't have time this am for personals. I even feel guilty logging on when I know I don't have time to do it. Not even changing my ticker...

I weighed in at 226.2 this am. -2.5 ... YIPPEE!!

10-16-2006, 03:42 PM
Wow, it looks as though the new thread has boosted everyone forward. Unforunately I don't think I'm one of those. I've majorly slipped this week. I guess I need to just sit back, take a breather, and refigure everything. Make myself realize why I'm doing this. Weigh in isn't until tomorrow night so I don't know just how bad I've done but I know it's got to be real bad. I did manage to get on my elipticale for the first time in months this morning. I only lasted for 10 minutes but I almost didn't last that long. I've had sick kids for the past month and that can take a major tole on a persons sanity. My oldest son seems to be going through something right now and I'm not sure what. He woke me up about 4 times last night wanting me to hold him and he hasn't done that in a long time. If it weren't for the fact that I hd a tubal I would think I was pregnant. My oldest became clingy when I was pregnant with my second and they both became clingy when I was pregnant with my youngest. They apparently new before I did that I was pregnant. Anyway, hopefully things will cool down soon. My youngest managed to get a double ear infection. I had no idea. He's had a runny nose for about a week but it was clear and he woke up saturday morning with a cough and sunday I took him to the doctor and the doctor said double ear infection. He had not even been in a bad mood. Oh well, hopefully I'll have everyone well before we go to the mountains cause I have a feeling it's gonna be an even colder adventure than last year. When we got back everyone was sick. It took me 2 months to get my middle son better. Well, enough of my boohooing.

I'm glad everyone is doing so well, and WELCOME to all the new comers and GOODLUCK to everyone.

10-16-2006, 07:41 PM
Happy Monday Ladies! It's so good to have the new thread and some great new ladies to join in! Welcome to all you lovely newbies!!!!

Lil' about me...
I'm Danielle 37y/o SAHM to 3--ages 13,12 & 10. I live in Phoenix--where we're still waiting for summer to decide if it's over yet. lol I have been struggling to lose weight for about 5 years now and just can't seem to get it done. However, I REFUSE to give up, I refuse to say that I can't do this, because I know I can. Somewhere down deep I know I can see this through!

Serena, I'm so sorry so hear the little one is sick! I hope he's feeling better very soon. Hang in there hon!

Nori, major congrat's to you on your loss this week! Fabulous work chicky!!!

Mo, WTG lady!!!! What a fantastic loss this week!!! :dancer: I think you should join the gym! Give you a chance to blow off steam after a hard days work without interruptions!! Let us know how you like it!

Kim, good luck with the calorie counting. That's what I'm doing too pretty much. I still can't figure out why it scares me so much. LOL Maybe because there's no one there telling me what I can & can't have? I don't have any weight loss to report because I have been very lazy and not working on anything that I should. Hopefully next week will be better.

To all our new girls, :welcome: ! I hope you will find as much encouragement as I have in the past. These girls are simply the best!

Ugh, I have decided that I hate going grocery shopping with dh. The man is the  I tell ya! He talks me into some very questionable food choices and then when I get home I sit in wonder what the heck I was thinking. lol No wonder I'm not losing any weight! Next time, he gets tied up & put in the closet! :p

I am really hoping to make a positive change this week. I have slacked off for weeks now and I am terrified to see the damage on the scale. Why do I do this to myself? :dizzy:

Hope everyone's had a great day so far!!!

♥ danielle

I lost 1 pound this week, for a total of 12 in 7 weeks.

I'm off to see my family for a week, so won't be posting. Hopefully, I won't come back home with a 5 pound gain. Visiting family is always tough for me.

Mo's gym deal sounds like a steal. Wish we had one of those around here.

Good luck to everyone this week.

10-17-2006, 10:06 AM
Nori and Ashley: congats on your weight loss!! :carrot: :carrot:

Ashley, we'll see you next week and be a good girl for us while you're away!! Just keep thinking what a good trend you've set over the last 7 weeks!

Nori: You did so great this week. Just remember last week you didn't want to go back into the 230's by November you won't want to be going back into the 220's! By Valentines Day you could be in Onederland!!

I keep thinking of all those people that will be starting diet and exercise programs in January, just think how much of a head start we'll have by putting our weight loss into overdrive in October!

Danielle: jump on the wagon with me, I just started back two weeks ago and feel pretty determined this time around.

Serena: good luck at the weigh in tonight. Don't be discouraged, you've had a tough time with the kids lately. Take some time for yourself if you can.

I did join the gym last night. I felt very awkward at first, I didn't know where to go or what to do, I ventured into testosterone area unaware and quickly made a u-turn. Anyway my friend and I found a corner on the 2nd floor and did a bicycle type thing with a comfy chair like seat. We did this for 10 minutes and our legs were like rubber. Then we did the elliptical for 5-10 minutes. Then we did a mile on the treadmill which took us about 17-18 minutes with a 2% incline. I think we're going again tonight. It was kind of crowded last night but the woman said each day of the week that goes by there's less and less people, by Friday she said it would be practically empty...that's when I'll try out some of the other machines. I just hope I stick to this now that I committed for a year! If not I'll at least be nice and tan! ;) I wish I could bring DD but kids have to be at least 14.

B: oatmeal 3
L: Smart One dinner 6
S: yogurt & graham crackers 6
D: salad 3
S: skinny cow ice cream/ popcorn 5
Water: about 50 oz.
Exercise: 35 minutes

Chat with you girls later, be good!

I don't really have much time to post but just wanted to say, I gained .2 pounds this week. I plan to do better this week.

10-18-2006, 10:12 AM
Hello ladies:

Serena: sorry about the gain but it was only .2 that's nothing, you'll make up for it this week I'm sure. I'm thinking of finding a photo to inspire me, not a supermodel but something I can attain realistically and keep it close by.

DH said he's starting his diet today because he ate 8 candy bars in the last two days! He got up early today and made himself a salad for lunch and some healthy snacks. He's going to try to hook up our old treadmill that's in the basement for himself and the kids to use. I'm hoping they use it, if they do he'll hook up an old TV for them in the basement. DD needs to lose weight and DS is thin but needs to develop some muscle and endurance, he's almost 5' 4" and weighs just 90 lbs soaking wet!

I went to the gym again last night but didn't increase at all, I still did just 1 mile on the treadmill, 10 minute on the bike and...with a lot of difficulty 10 minutes on the elliptical, that thing really kicks my butt!!! Maybe because I saved it for last but I'm not sure??? My friend got there 30 minutes before I could get there so she did an additional 2 miles on the treadmill!!! She said her toe was bleeding when she got home!!

B: oatmeal, 1 graham cracker 4
L: Lean cuisine, grapes, mini tootsie pop 7
D: salad w/ chicken & feta 7
S: few pretzels and granola bar 2
Pts: 20 Water: about 50 oz. Exer: 38 minutes

I'll check in later, where is everyone????

Hello Hello!!!

Not much going on over here today. The kids have kept me busy with school projects galore and field trips they suckered me in to chaperoning. lol Next week proves to be even busier with them having 2 half days and 1 day off from school. On top of that, eye & dental appts abound. Can someone say, Calgone take me away? lol

Serena, .2 is not bad at all. I know you will do even better this week and lose that plus some! You can do it!

Mo, I am so glad you joined the gym!!! Awesome that you have someone to go with too. You sound like you're doing really well with the equipment and all, good girl! Oh wouldn't that be awesome to have the treadmill downstairs for dh & the kids! I had to giggle when you mentioned your ds. Mine is the same exact way, but man is he strong! He's getting serious about running and is going to be doing an intramural track team for now. He's got big plans for the track team come next year, his freshman year of hs. I swear tho, the wind blows the wrong way and it feels like he'll blow away! LOL My middle daughter, omg, the girl has no muscle tone whatsoever. Poor kid! Let us know how you like the gym today!!

Hopefully we'll hear from some of the other girls soon. How's everyone's week so far? Hope its all been good!

Serena~ I feel your pain.. i am there with you.. next week will be better.. we can do this.. I feel it and I can see it.. I figured out in 10 months if I reduce my calories 1000 a day I will be at my goal weight.. if I exercise depending on what I do I may only need to shave out 500 a day.. so I am determined... and a little hungry..:o

Catherine???? you there??

Hey Danielle! nice to see you again.. I too run ragged with the kids at times.. last week I had lunch with one, then dropped off a missing book for another.. then 2 had make up bowling , and still another was up til 10:30 two nights doing his accelerated college math program.. (in 8th grade!) so calgon is in stock at my house! haha

Ashley... 12 pounds!!! WTG.... awesome!! what are you doing to lose weight..program and exercise???

sara.. wtg to you.. a loss of any kind is to be embraced, accepted and duly recognized.. my leader once read us this poem about losing" just a pound" but think of a pound of butter?? now picture it on your butt or thighs??? look good?? well it is GONE.. why?? cause YOU had the POWER and CONTROL to do it.. good for you.. keep it up.. welcome!!!

to everyone else i missed see you on the board .. and have a great week/... hey how do I subscribe to this thread.. i was subscribed to our old thread but forget how?? thanks..Kim

Mo, Congrats on joining the gym and sticking to it!! congrats to you also on loosing the 5 pounds!!

I would also love to join a gym, except you have to be 19 to join. .... so I am stuck trying to lose weight at home just by working out!

Thanks for the welcome from all the girls and I hope that I can use this as a motivational thing and loose some more weight!!

Thanks girls!

mornin.. a quick check in .. well we are off to North Carolina in the mornin.. Atlantic Beach area.. going to see DH's oldest son and his wife.. stay there a couple days.. she is making lasagna... i will have to see how many calories that may be.. I have been following ww but for a couple weeks I am just going to count calories and see how I do.. my day looks like this...

B: 300
S: 150
L: 350
S: 150
D: 500
S: 150
Total= 1600.. according to what I can figure... my burn is about 2400-2500 a day (for my activities).. so I should lose like 1.5- 2 pounds a week.. hoping closer to 2.... I will let you know..

speaking of food I have to go eat I am really hungry... you all have a super OP day.. Kim

10-19-2006, 10:14 AM
Good morning ladies:

Hi Kim: your plan sounds great, so many people eat more smaller meals, it does make a lot of sense. Have fun in North Carolina.

Erika: last night on Biggest Loser their gym was closed for the week and they had to find alternate ways to exercise...did you happen to see it? They climbed hills, did all types of exercises on their stair case, etc.

Danielle: that's great about your son joining the track team, I wish my son was more involved in athletics. Right now he just plays soccer on a recreation league. His only hobby is reading and collecting japanese anime cards (neither are too strenuous!)

I dropped DS off at school, drove 45 minutes to work and as soon as I got here I got a call from the school nurse. He had a sore throat since last night but I guess he started to get dizzy when he got to school. Anyway, after 15 minutes and 10 phone calls I found my brother who is off today so he's going to go get him for me.

B: cereal 4
L: Lean Cuisine, yogurt 8
S: granola bar, cereal, angel food cake 6
D: soup 6
S: skinny cow ice cream 3
Pts. 27 Exercise: 40 minutes (bike, tread, ellip) Water: 50 oz.

I used 2 of my bonus points but I was so hungry around 3 pm I couldn't stop snacking. Does anyone know how many points you earn for activity? I'm not sure if those two extra points could go against activity or if I need to take them out of my "bonus points"???

Have a great day ladies!

10-19-2006, 02:22 PM
Mo: the activity points are calculated by
intensity level (light moderate high)
body weight
so it really depends.

I earn about 1 point when i use the eliptical for 10 to 20 minutes.

10-19-2006, 03:10 PM
Thanks, I did find the formulas on dwlz

It was weight X minutes. Then you multiply that number by a formula (I think it was .000327 for moderate activity so 40 minutes gave me about 2.5 points. I couldn't believe when I was doing the machines how little calories were being burned, it makes you think twice before you eat something!

My friend isn't going to the gym tonight so I'll try to go myself between work and picking up my DD at dancing. DS will be on his own though at home so I may not stay too long. I just want to prove to myself that I can go on my own :)

10-19-2006, 10:51 PM
HELLO!! My fast computer is having problems and so I'm on an old, slow one that takes forever to refresh and load I haven't been online for a couple days really.

Having a GREAT week here! Been at the gym 8 out of the last 11 days and been eating healthy. I'm due for AF really soon here, and plan to run a tight ship during that time! (I actually need to start writing it down, because ever since I got my IUD and quit BCP's, I don't have my pack to go by for when I'll start AF!)

Ashley - hope you are having a lovely visit with your family.

Mo - You go girl!! Joining a gym!!!:D Personally I LOVE the gym, but I do dvd's at home when my girls are sick or something. I like them also.

Erika Leigh - I've never heard of having to be 19 to join a gym.:?: I know there's loads of teenagers at the gym I go to, but maybe they are on an adult/parents account?

Danielle - I hear you on shopping with DH! We almost always come home with a "treat" when he goes shopping. My DH is a fairly healthy eater, and he has this thing called "Self-control", so buying a package of cookies or Cheetos a big deal to him and will last him awhile.

Serena - in my books +/-.2 is basically maintaining. I mean, go pee and then weigh yourself and you'll be -.2!:D When is you trip?

Kim - if you stick with that deficit plan you WILL lose weight! That's exactly how I lost my weight. I was counting calories, eating 5-6 300 calorie meals a day, and aiming for 1,000 calorie deficit 5 days a week and a 500 calorie deficit th eother 2. It really wasn't that hard. I was exercising every day though and burning between 500-900 calories through activities. It's all math really. I gotta get back to counting calories...

Well, I gotta go do some laundry and get everything ready for tomorrow morning, including packing my healthy foods. My 18 month old has her checkup at 9am and my almost 3 year old needs to start her HepA series of immunizations. Then get them to daycare and get to work by 11.

10-20-2006, 01:35 AM
Mo - No TV here!! I went to the gym last night!!

Nori- Here at this gym you have to be 19 or on a parents account.

We went and talked to them and they gave me and Amanda a 3 day free guest pass!!!! It was awesome!! We worked out for almost 2 hours last night. It's 24 hours and we went at like 1:30 this morning!!

Thanks girls! Hope that you keep up the weight loss.

P.S. I am changing my goals. I am going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas!

10-20-2006, 10:19 AM
Hi ladies:

Well I went to the gym by myself :^: I only did 32 minutes because I had to go pick up DD. Also, DS came home sick yesterday and he had a fever and sore throat. My sister is staying with him today so I'm at work now.

Nori: you're doing so good, send me some will power so I stay at the gym! Erika: I'm glad you liked the gym. It's only 10 weeks till Christmas, 4 lbs. a week is a lot! I need to make a goal too for my signature, I'll figure that out today.

B: oatmeal 3
L: Smart One dinner 6
S: Corn Pops 2
D: Eng Muff pizza (yuck), bowl of cereal 10
Pts: 21 Exer: 32 min. Water: 50 oz.?

I've been ok on my points but need to eat healthier like more fruits and veggies. DD and I stopped at the library last night and she got childrens cookbooks and made her grocery list last night for what she wants to make (chicken soup and smoothies). Then my sister came over (who's supposed to be on WW) and gave her a bag of M&Ms and my son a Snickers without asking me. I'm going to have to tell her to not buy them food anymore without asking me. DH also had her stop and buy him Milk Duds. He said he's going to do WW with me but it doesn't appear so. I had to watch him chew them all night.

I'm going to try to go to the gym tonight later on tonight so it's not crowded and I won't be rushed and might be able to try some other pieces of equipment.

10-20-2006, 01:14 PM
Nori: We will be leaving next wednesday the 25th. Staying for a week. Of course last year when we went I actually managed to lose weight. I guess because we weren't sitting at home doing nothing.

Mo: It is so much easier when you have someone doing it with you. My mother did it with me the first time I did WW and it went really well. She's not doing it right now but she does help by cooking accordingly when I'm around, which is pretty much everyday. She's looking forward to us going out of town so she can have a vacation of her own. LOL, but I'm pretty much on my own and it can sometimes seem like a very lonely road to walk. (My husband is 6' and weighs about 170. All muscle) It gets really annoying when he says something like, "I'm getting fat"

Well, this week is going Ok but, today is my birthday and I was kind of hoping to go out to the crab shack and get all you can eat crab legs. My absolute favorite. Thankfully crab meat isn't really all that bad for you or fattening. Monday is my sons bday and his party is this sunday so of course there will be cake and I just can't say no to cake. Then, I will be baking cupcakes to take to his class on monday for his birthday and I'm sure I'll have to taste them to make sure they are ok for the kids to eat, likely excuse. Anyway, hopefully if I gain it won't be too bad.

Talking about gyms. I would like to start going back to the gym but what I really would like to do is martial arts. I wish we could afford for me to do both but we really can't so I have to chose. The gym would probably be more beneficial for me at the moment but I feel like if I wait too much longer to start martial arts I'll just be too old. I tried to start 2 years ago and found out I was pregnant and had to quit. My very first class the instructor let me kick a board. I broke it the first try, that was just really cool.

I hope everyone is doing really well. I'm not sure if I'll have much time for checking in this weekend so it may be after Nov. 1st before I'm able to check back but I'll try to poke my head in.

10-20-2006, 04:23 PM

:woo: :woo: :woo: :woo:

I forgot you were going to the mountains, have a great time. You are so young, don't be silly. Either one would be great. There are some good sounding cake recipes on this site. I might make the chocolate pumpkin muffins tonight. Nori must have jinxed me and I'm getting my period today! You must mix a chocolate cake mix with a can of pure pumpkin and it makes 12 big muffins for 3 pts a piece.

I'm not sure if I'll make the gym tonight. I have to stop at my mom's, go grocery shopping, make dinner, etc. If I do go, it will be late.

Have a great weekend everyone. I did good this week eating and exercise wise, but I hope TOM doesn't screw up my weigh in. :crossed:

10-20-2006, 05:18 PM
Happy Friday Girly Girls!!!!

Well, I managed to ditch one pound this week. I really didnt know if I'd done well enough to lose anything, so imagine my surprise. I'll take anything that goes backwards! lol

Nori, I hope the babies appts went well. I know when mine were small I hated having to be there for their shots. I still can't deal well and I've got a 10,12 & 13 y/o. LOL You are doing great these days! Goody for you!! Ugh, why is it most men seem to be able to hang onto that junk food and not even care? Seriously, who ever heard of hanging on to a package of Oreos for 2 weeks? LOL

Serena, have fun on your trip!!!! Happy Birthday!!!!!!

Mo, you had me giggling about the Mild Duds and your DH. I could just picture you sitting there as he munched on those. Can't tell you how many times mine's done stuff like that and me willing for him to choke on it. LOL It's great news about DD planning out her menus. Is she excited to be doing this? I wish my mom had taught me stuff like this when I was young. Instead I got to watch her starve herself or go on the Tab diet. Remember Tab soda? I hope DS is feeling better. We've got lots of strep going around in the kids schools here. *knock on wood* none of mine have been sick. Yet! Good for you for going to the gym alone. I knew you could do it!!!!

Erika, I'm so glad you got to go to the gym!!! I hope that this will be a great key in your weight loss journey. You can do it!!!

Kim, your calorie plan sounds very doable. Best of luck to you! I hope you're having a great time on vacation!!!!

I swear, I REALLY hate where we're living! We rent a condo that we've been in for 3 years now. When we first moved in it was company owned and then they went private and all the units were sold off. We chose not to buy and our unit sold to someone who gave us the option of staying as he was only going to use this as a write-off and kept our rent the same. Ok fine. Well then we get these guys that move in directly above us. OMG! Rude rude rude is all I can say! They've been here for about 6 months now and let me just tell you, I am counting the days until we can move! Okay, all done with my rant. lol Just gets under my skin when I gotta keep hearing their loud music and loud clunky footsteps all dang day. Ggrrr!

So anyways! .... anybody doing anything exciting and fun this weekend? Wish I could say I was, but nope. LOL Just alot of chauffering around my kids everywhere, laundry & housework. Fun times, huh?!

Have a good day ladies!!!!!

♥ danielle

Hi ladies:

I just logged on to download some music to listen to while at the gym! I went tonight and worked up to 15 minutes on the elliptical and 25 on the treadmill. Then I did 5 minutes on some other contraption but I don't know what it's called. It was kind of hard but I'll try it again another day.

Danielle: congrats on your loss!!! :carrot: :carrot:
Sorry about the upstair neighbors. DS is feeling better but I think I'll keep him home from soccer tomorrow morning.

DH cleaned the bathrooms while I was at the gym tonight, I'm killing two birds with one stone! :D :D

Off to let Jay Leno talk me to sleep.

10-23-2006, 10:31 AM
Hello ladies:

I was surprised to see that no one posted all weekend. Today was weigh in for me and I was down .4 lb (6.6 lbs total). Not a big loss but it is TOM so I'm hoping for a bigger loss next Monday because I had done really well this week eating and exercise wise.

Weekend Summary:
Friday: 20 points, 48 minutes (15 elliptical, 28 treadmill, 5 Arctrainer)
Saturday: 24 points, 50 minute walk (2.75 mile)
Sunday: 22 points, 20 minutes (10 Arctrainer, 8 treadmill, 2 stairmaster)

Saturday we got to the gym at 6 p.m. and it was closed! We had to walk at the local high school instead. Sunday I didn't have time to go with my friend to the gym because I went shopping but I did sneak in 20 minutes on my way home at another gym that was open late with my sister.

I bought a Cooking Light cookbook this week that looks really good. After I try some of the recipes I'll post them here if they're good. I hope everyone is doing fine and hope to hear from you all soon.

10-23-2006, 10:57 AM
Well, we went to Outback steakhouse for my birthday and it was so good. I got a steak and steamed broccoli. But we also had bread and fried mushrooms. Yesterday was my sons bday party and of course I had a piece of cake. I made cupcakes for his class today and so far I've managed not to eat one. Hopefully all the teachers will eat too so I don't have any to bring home. I'm probably going to be extremely busy tomorrow but I plan to atleast go weigh in tomorrow. boy do i dread it cause it will be the 3rd week in a row that I've gained.

It looks like everyone else is doing well though. I probably won't be back on here until next week when we get back from vacation.

10-23-2006, 01:06 PM
Hey girls!

Mo, sounds like you had a really good weekend workout wise! Good for you for sticking with it lady. I didnt do my workout like I'd wanted it to, just felt very uninspired. When have I ever felt inspired by exercise, who am I kidding! LOL Congrat's on the loss, it may have been small but they do add up to bigger things!!! You're definitely on the right path, and yup, you're right, next weeks WI will be better because tom is here now. Keep it up!!!!

Serena, so glad you had a great birthday!!! Hope you have an even better time on vacation!!!

Not a whole lot from me today. Busy weekend around the house and now I'm exhausted. lol Glad the kids went back to school, I don't think I could take much more of the bickering and arguing my girls seem to do more & more of. ugh, and the teen years are just around the corner!!!

Have a good one everybody!!!

10-23-2006, 01:53 PM
Happy Birthday Serena!!

Mo - I like many of the Cooking Light recipes. All of the desserts I've tried are quite good for being lighter versions. Let us know any real keepers.

You're braver than I to even weigh in the week of af, MO. I cannot bring myself to see those #'s...when I can feel that my rings are tight and my face looks puffy...I will not weigh. My history shows that I can be up 5-8 pounds pre-af. I'll weigh next Monday and aim for anything under 225! Anyways, weekend was so-so food wise. We went to a fall bbq yesterday where I ate a Polish sausage, fruit salad and brownies (that had Andes Mint chunks in them). Not "pig out", but not just 1 brownie either.

Off to the gym. It's a gorgeous, crisp cool morning here in Eastern Washington. Maybe I'll take the girls to the park afterwards.

Happy Monday ladies!

10-23-2006, 02:47 PM

Hello ladies:

TOM is starting to leave thank goodness. I don't think I could take another night of working out with it. I was so chaffed last night, I felt like I had on fiberglass insulation underwear! I left work in a huff yesterday. DS had a migraine at school and the nurse didn't call my cell or my work or my husband's cell. Instead she called the 5th person on the call list who wasn't home. DS had to suffer for two hours at school with a migraine and take the loud, noisy bus home. Then my mother got them off the bus and took them to her house. I left work at regular time to go get them and he looked awful. Needless to say he was sound asleep when we got home. I put him right to bed and within a half hour he threw up all over his room and his new featherbed! The poor thing was so worried about having so much make up homework from last Thursday/Friday when he had a fever. I told him not to worry about it. But he ended up waking up around 8:30 feeling much better. He ended up spending two hours at the kitchen table doing homework and going back to bed around midnight. He was fine this morning. DD tells me every morning she's not feeling good (bit of a drama queen) but she goes to school anyway. This morning she was running to the bus stop and fell (missed the bus) and came home crying so I had to drive her to school. Hopefully today will be much calmer!

B: oatmeal 3
L: Smart One, cucumber 6
S: shrimp cocktail, graham cracker 5
D: eng muffin w/ PB&J, skinny cow 8
Pts: 22 Exer: 56 min. Water: 40 oz?
(36 treadmill, 10 arctrainer, 10 elliptical)

Kim: glad you had a good time on vacation, now back to reality huh!
Nori: I weighed again today, still the same :?: Your weather sounds like here, but it's getting a little chillier the last couple of days. We haven't turned on the heat yet, but have lit the fire the last few nights. I haven't tried any recipes yet but I'll keep you updated. The lemon chicken looks really good.
Danielle: are the girls behaving yet? What ages are they again?
Erika: how's the gym going? Are you dressing your pets for Halloween?!

What is everyone else's kids dressing as for Halloween? My DD is going to be Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribbean and DS is going to be some kind of japanese cartoon character.

Talk to you all soon.

10-25-2006, 09:50 AM
Hi Nori, Kim, Mo, Serena, Danielle, and all the "new" girls!

I'm Sarah. I was one of the originals from the Diet Journey Thread, but I've been absent for awhile due to our move. My husband is a Marine, we have 2 little boys, and we live in South Carolina. :)

I have internet again! Isn't it wonderful? When we got to our new house, we discovered the cable company hadn't even laid the cable lines yet.

I have tried several diets, and I'm getting ready to go back to the WW system of counting points. For me, it's always been the most successful. Tomorrow is day 1! I also am planning on adding 2 walks, and 2 exercise video days, because lately I haven't been doing a thing.

That reminds me, I have to go adjust my ticker to my current stats! EEEK!

It's great to be back!!

10-25-2006, 11:04 AM
Hi Sarah: Welcome back, I hope you're all settled into your new house and enjoying it. It's so good to see our group reuniting! I just started dieting seriously again about 3 weeks ago and also started exercising. It will be slow going but I just need to stay organized enough to have good food around me.

My day was good:
B/L: big bowl of cereal 8
S: fresh pineapple 1
D: big portobella mushroom
w/ tomato, onion, feta cheese & potato wedges 6
S: skinny cow ice cream 3
Pts. 18 Exercise: 43 minutes Water: 40 oz?

How are the rest of you ladies doing? Who's kids are what for Halloween? I love this time of year. We'll be carving our pumpkins Sunday I think. I want to get some cheap gourds and cut our the tops and put tealights in them. I saw it in a magazine and it looked cute. I'll put them around the front porch maybe.

Take care.

10-25-2006, 11:11 AM
It's so great to be back on the east coast and see FALL! The mornings are so chilly, but it's a nice change from the desert. :)

Mo, my 5 year old is going to be Batman, and my soon to be 2 year old will be a duck. LOL I love that the 2 year old is still small enough for me to pick. :) My 5 year old has never even seen a Batman cartoon or

I'm so glad you got back to seriously being on the wagon 3 weeks ago. I'm excited about getting started again tomorrow. I want to get back to taking vitamins, drinking 8 glasses of water, and increasing my fruits & vegetables again. It's amazing that being as off the wagon as I've been, I've only gained back 8 pounds. LOL

MY NEW MINI GOAL - 6 pounds by Thanksgiving. :)

10-25-2006, 01:50 PM
Sarah, congrats for staying in Onederland!! I can't wait to get there, hopefully by Thanksgiving but I'm secretly hoping by Veteran's Day!

10-25-2006, 04:32 PM
You can do that, Mo.

HI SARAH! Glad you are "hooked up" again!

I have to be to work in 15 minutes, just had to check in.

I'm having a so-so week. Girls have colds and are crabby. I have AF. I'm so busy I'm not being good about planning my food, so I've been grabbing things through the day. I hate living life at this pace, but it's not going to change anytime soon, so I need to adjust. I do not have trouble with the exercising.

Anyone go to MOPS meetings? I just started last month and they are fun. I go tonight again.

10-25-2006, 06:09 PM
Nori - what's MOPS? I hope your pace slows down so you can enjoy some much needed you time soon! :)

10-25-2006, 06:10 PM
Mo - thanks! I was so down about the gain I forgot to focus on the best positive. :) Getting to onederland was hard work - it's hard to believe I was THIS close to going back. I know you can do it and you'll make onederland, too! :)

10-25-2006, 08:33 PM
THANK YOU first to my Friend for checking up on me and making sure I was OK.

Hello everyone! I have not read up on all of the posts, hope iI can get the time. It seems we have a whole lot of new wonderful ladies here. I am Catherine, I have been married for 11 years and have a 11 and a 10 year old. they are my life. After losing 20 pounds back in the spring, I have gained it all back. Stress and binge eating. My weakness right now is M&M's. We have them by the cases at work. I work at a bakery!:D I am a caregiver at home, as is my whole family. I work a 3:00 am shift. Long days and I am not getting the naps I use to. Hopefully after all is said and done I will have the supervisor position. More money!

Well, I can definately get started on the water. I am doing better with that already.

For those from the old thread and those who are here. Our neighbor killed himself. Took most of his head off. His 9 year old sone saw it. Luckily his daughter who is younger did not. He was also one of my husbands oldest friends. Things have been crazy.

I did get to go to Martinsville Race this weekend. Me and my husband alone. We needed the time. And we had a good time.

Well I am going to go . I will read up on all of the new ladies her.

Girls!! I have missed you so much! I haven't been able to log on lately due to the high call volume at work!!

Here is my biggest deal- My weight went back up... I can't figure this out. It's the same as it always is. I loose a little and then gain it plus some back with changing nothing. I haven't been able to go to the gym because i'm waiting to see if my mom is going to sign. I have done WATP everynight and watching what I'm eating. (More less low carbs and only water for drink!)
But it went from the 289 back up to 291... What is with that? I just wanna give up so bad. I've increased my water intake a little more in hopes of losing this weight!

I can't remember who asked, but I don't know that we will be dressing up the dogs for halloween due to the coldness. They do get dressed everyday when we go outside but it's getting to where the nights are soooooo cold here! We treat them just like children and so I'm sure you can imagine!

This week has been soo stressful! Alot has happened also. We went yesterday and looked at new apartments because we are out growing the one that we have. We knew that it would be temporary. But we weren't expecting to be moving until December 31st and now we may be moving November the 30th or sooner!!! I'm glad for this change....but still kinda scared as it's a big change in my life.

I'm just hoping things can get better in life!!

Thanks for reading girls!Hope that everyone has a great week!! Happy Hump Day!!

Anyone mind if I hop in here with you? I need all the support I can get! I've been on this weightloss journey for so long I cant even remember how long its been, but if I'm being honest it wasnt a very valient effort obviously. But since about September 13th I've really stepped up and tried to make every choice about taking off the pounds. My biggest motivation is my mother who has recently lost 40 lbs and is looking great, I just cant be bigger than her! LOL! Dont get me wrong I want to lose it for me but thats what keeps my drive going. Tomorrow is my next WI, but AF is circling the wagons so I'm not suspecting much, plus this week I've not been as focused as maybe I should be. Weekends are the hardest for me, I cant seem to stay on plan. Okay I'm rambling!

I'm Melissa, fulltime student, fulltime mom of 2 girls ages 11 and 7, and other manchild/husband! LOL! Cant wait to get to know you all!

Have a wonderful day!

Hello ladies:

Catherine: thanks for visiting, that's awful about your neighbor. I'll say a prayer for his kids and your neighborhood. He must have been very troubled. My husband knows 3 people who committed suicide in Ireland over the last 6 months...all young men. I guess they just couldn't cope with life. Good luck getting the supervisor job and glad you had a weekend alone with DH. Who was able to watch your FIL, is he still staying with you?

Nori: getting back to work is awfully hard with small kids. I don't think I would have been able to handle it if it weren't for the fact my mom is such a big help and close by. DH has always been a lot of help too and he has much more patience than I do! There's just not enough hours in the day.

Erika: Don't give up! Try not to weigh yourself more than once a week. Also, try taking measurements instead of worrying about a pound or two. The scale is not the only way to see success. Think long term, it's not all or nothing. You can't change your entire life overnight and this is a life change but it's FOREVER and will take forever, but after a while you'll just be maintaining your success! You're so young, you can do this especially with a friend. Increasing your water is a great idea. Keep us informed and tell mom to sign the darn gym papers! Good luck finding a new place, that will keep you busy!!!

Sarah: How's Day 1 going!? Do you have your frig stocked with fruits and veggies? What's the new house like? You know we're only a few pounds apart, I'm coming to get you!!! Start running ;) :woops:

Kim: are you still recovering from your North Caroline trip? Where are you?

Danielle: how old are your girls? How's the battle going? Check in soon.

Serena: I hope you're enjoying yourself and going for a nice brisk hike in the mountains!

B: oatmeal 3
L: Smart One & apple 7
D: other mushroom & potato wedges 6
S: Skinny Cow ice cream 3

Last night was the 10th straight day of going to the gym :carrot:

Does anyone watch the Biggest Loser? I only saw the last 10 minutes last night. I had a feeling it was going to be Ken who got voted off. His after picture was amazing. These people look totally different with the huge weight losses. I don't really like reality TV and I hate the way they drag a half hour out to an hour by repeating everything and pausing for commercials at critical times like we're children, but I love to see the after photos!

10-26-2006, 07:14 PM
Hi guys. Sorry for not posting the last day or so, it's been a heckuva week so far over here. Thank goodness kids don't have school tomorrow or I think I might just have to throw myself in front of a bus. LOL Seriously, it's been running around and tons of projects for weeks now, this past week just sealed it. SO glad it's over with!!!

Again, right now I don't have alot of time either, but wanted to pop in and say I'm here and all that!
Catherine, it's wonderful to hear from you, you were really missed. Glad you and DH got time alone!!!
Mo, you asked about halloween costumes..... DD1 is a "corpse bride" (lovely i know, anything to wear colored hair and lots of freaky make up! lol), DD2 is Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, and DS has not "decided" if he will be trick or treating this's that for an 8th grade attitude? LOL My girls are 12 & 10 and my son is 13 going on 14 next month.
Nori, hope you're enjoying your beautiful weather over there!!
Kim, glad vacation was good!
Erika, hope the gym thing works out! Good luck with moving, I feel your pain, we've gotta do it come March.
Sarah, Mi Amiga!!! I'm so glad you're "up & running" again. I was wondering how you were. SO glad that the thread is scooting along now too!!
Mel, was wondering how long it'd be before you got here? ;)

Alrighty, time to get my butt outta this chair and doing something. Have a super afternoon ladies!

10-26-2006, 07:43 PM
Ok I drank 120 ounces of H2O today. That is a start! I did not eat any :m: &:m: today! That is not saying anything about what else I had. I am using a lot more upper body strength. I lift about 1000 pounds:strong: a day in 50 pound bags. Sometimes more. I do more knee bending at work also. But they are not continuous deep knee bends. My arthritis is bothering me a lot in my hands but I am sure I will be ok. I still have not read up on all of the posts. I need to learn all about the wonderful ladies here. But I am going to bed now. Talk to all of you later!

Catherine

10-26-2006, 10:18 PM
I love going to the gym too, Mo! It's kinda addicting, huh! I did watch TBL last night. Ken looked amazing now. I cannot believe that he was only 43? He looked 53+ to me when he was so large. The whole family looked so happy.

Erika - don't sweat 2 pounds honey! Hormones will do that to me everytime. Or salt. Or sugar...:o As long as you know your basics are right on track - "DEW" - you're doing all you can and your body will respond. GL with the move. I hate moving! But it's always so nice to be settled and comfy again. Where do you live again? I was thinking it was AL? My DH is from AL.

You can see even on The Biggest Loser that while they all have drastic weekly losses, sometimes one week it's 2 and then next it's 9. They're doing basically the same thing week after week.

Danielle - so how was it when your little ones were all under 4? DH and I are thinking about #3...if there will be a #3...when... I feel so overwhelmed sometimes with the 2 - they are 16 months apart. So I know if/when we have #3, there will be more of a age gap since Melina is already 18 months.

WELCOME Melissa! Glad you jumped on in. Weekends are the hardest for me also. I'm out of my routine and have more time on my hands.:dizzy: I've discovered how to maintain - eat right 5 days out of the week and then loosen up on myself (I'm not talking binges even) a little and weightloss that week.

Sarah - MOPS is a support group for mothers. They have them all over the country - usually meet in churches. It stands for Mothers Of PreSchoolers - but I think it's for all mothers. Period. It's nice because I go to one for working Moms and there is free childcare for the girls with crafts, and I get to sit in a candle lit room drinking coffee, ralaxing and chatting with other Mom's. I like it. It is Christian based, but I don't feel like I'm "in Church", iykwim. You should see if there are meeting where you are at now.

WTG, Katherine!! Water does make a huge difference for me. The only thing I don't like is having to pee during the night. Had enough of that with pregnancies!! So sad about your neighbor. A gal who worked at the credit union killed herself recently and it always seemed that she was a depressed/moody kind and then 3 days before she OD'ed I went in on Friday afternoon and she was so sweet and friendly and happy. I've heard that suicidally depressed people get that way once they decide that they are going to go through with their plans. She never came to work Monday and then her husband found her. She had 3 daughters too. She did have MS, but not advanced stagesyet, but still terminal. So sad for those they leave to put the pieces back together.

Well, gotta go make dinner. I think I'll weigh myself in the AM. AF wasn't to rough on me this time. Still a little swollen though.

10-27-2006, 10:36 AM
well morning everyone...
My kids have NO school today.. so will have to schedule a couple actiove things outside too.. I like to shoot hoops so it is a workout for them and me...
maybe even a nice walk as the weather is so pretty.. I love the look of the changing leaves..
Well imagine my surprise when i stepped on the scale this week and I was 1/2 pound down... hmmmm I got back in to the swing just in time to shed a little... so down a total of 3.5... I know this coming week will be good losses cause it seems like 2 weeks b4 my af I lose the most then it is a little and none... vicious cycle....oh well.. one day I will be done with all of this.. hot flashes here I

Mo.. I too have been trying to stick to a plan.. I was doing ww but I have trouble with the flex points to use not or to use.. so for right now I am just counting calories... I figure at my weight and activity I need about 2500-2600 a day to maintain my weight so I cut back 500-1000 a day and I will lose 1-2 pounds a week.. I have added exercise video (1 mile) 3 x's a week and it is early but it is looking good.. I will feel soo much better once I am into the low 220's that it is really working... so I wanted to say great job on your work so far.. I find planning your day ahead and having alternatives in case really really helps!! I new ahead of time how much a turkey dinner with low point pump pie and all the trimmings was going to be....

Nori.. You are ahead of me! actually below me in weight but I am racing to catch u .. unless you don't want to race.. my race is really to the onderlands and beyond... pump that vitamin c for those kiddies.. maybe it'll help... I drown them in oj and tea with honey if they'll drink it...

Sarah .. You are gonna do great! we can do this together.. I still adhere to alot of ww recipes and really am ww at heart .. you can do 6 by thanksgiving! i am shooting for at least that if not 8.. wow I will be close to the teens if i do.. yeah!!

Danielle.. How old are your girls? I raised two girls now 20 and 22 and have 2 more ages 6 and 9 so I feel your pain! if I can help just ask...I survivied.. not without scars.. haha I also squeezed in 2 boys ages 13 and 14.

Serena.. So did you do anything exciting?? talk to u soon... keep up the hard work we'll get there...

if I missed anyone hi!!! welcome!

I am in a funk lately .. feeling a bit down so I am trying a little creativeness to perk me up.. I am changing the color scheme of my livingroom a bit.. I am going from pastels and seashore look to more bamboo/rattan and darker wood tone items and like a tropic look.. i am spray painting my lamps and got different shades and maybe dying my drapes.. if I can find shades I like more browns/tans and greens... do any of you guys get like that??

well i will check in later.. have a great day all of you... just dew it!

10-27-2006, 11:02 AM
Quick hello and update my info then I'll be back for personals after my meeting. I'm so glad we've got new friends and old ones back on the wagon, we've got great support going here now!!

B: oatmeal 3
L: Smart One & fresh pineapple 6
D: 6" subway sandwich 8
S: 2 homemade gingersnaps 4
Pts: 21 Exer: 50 min Water 60 oz.

Be back soon!

10-27-2006, 11:25 AM
I'm back already, I didn't have to take the minutes of the meeting after all :D

Kim: way to go sticking to plan! It is all math when you come right down to it. It seems for me that after the first two weeks my appetite is controllable, I've been on the low side of points so I feel confident going into Halloween. Your decorating plans sound great. I bought some real nice curtains at (believe it or not...Walmart). They sound like they'd go good in your room. They're valances and have a black background with sage green and beige bamboo on them. The trim is a sage green cord. They were about $15 a piece in walmart but they look like they cost $50 in a curtain store. I also bought muted jungle animal print ones just like the others in a brown tone. Super-Walmarts sometimes have a good selection.

Nori: I hope the weigh in is a great success. Glad you're enjoying MOPS. I had never heard of it either. Last night I was practically crying at the gym trying to do just 13 minutes on the arctrainer. My friend did 40!! I would have died. Then I did just 7 on the stepper. I tried to jog for the first time on a treadmill and got an awful spasm in my right calf so I had to stop.

Cathy: I would have wet the bed!! Great going on drinking the water. I have a real problem with that. What's your secret, do you have an IV!!??

Danielle: The costumes sound great. Have a fun time shooting hoops today!

Melissa: Welcome to the gang!! I know what you mean about your mother. When I found out one time I weighed more than her I was shocked. I always thought she was WAY bigger than I was. It was a rude awakening :yikes:
What are you going to school for? You sound like another very busy mom!

When I got home last night DS told me he was having a Fiesta in school and needed to bring in something. I took out all the ingredients to make out family gingersnap recipe. Thank goodness DH mixed it all up and had the first batch in the oven when I got home from the gym. I do complain and joke about him all the time, but he's a good guy :D Our anniversary is in 6 days, maybe I'll be nice to him ;)

10-27-2006, 11:57 AM
Talking about Mothers. Yesterday I had a sort of feel-good moment. My Mom is 5'5" and weighs 175. I'm 5'7" and weigh 226.8 (as of this am). She was complaining that none of her winter stuff from last year fits her this year. I told her I had some 18's (skirts+pants) that were getting too big for me and she could try them, and they fit her! I was happy to help! Mean, I know!

P.S. Then last night she made a point of telling me that she is starting the Zone again. Which means she will be skinny in no time. That's a good plan and she's had great success on it before.

10-27-2006, 12:32 PM
Nori - MOPS sounds great! Now that I'm back near civilization, I'll have to check the website and see if there are any meetings near me! I really like that it's Christian based. About the Zone - everyone I know who has done it always loses weight. If they stick with it, they keep it off, too. It just seems like you'd be doing endless math always balancing out your meals like that! LOL

Mo - Happy early anniversary! :) And FABULOUS job on the points, water and exercise. I'm having trouble getting all of my water in.

Catherine - I'm so sorry about your neighbor. However, I'm super glad to see you back here!

Daniele - my other desert friend! How are you?

Kim - I love your idea of redecorating. Just being surrounded by different colors can totally change a mood!! My living room is done in the aged (antique-like) Americana colors. The deep cranberry, navy, and khaki. To me, it's safe and warm feeling. However, my bedroom is brown and blue right now. That seems fun to me. I'm thinking of painting my kitchen red, and the downstairs bathroom blue. LOL Wish me luck!

Melissa - welcome!

Erika - my husband is a Marine, so we move a lot. It's always a mix of emotions - excitement and nervousness being the top two! LOL

Everyone, my husband and I are off for our first vacation since my soon-to-be-2-year-old was born. We're taking a weekend and going to Gatlinburg. Anyone been there? Send lots of good wishes my way that I don't overeat the whole weekend. I'm always way more likely to overeat in restaurants. I'm the opposite of the secret binger - I'm the social binger!!!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I'll check in with you all on Monday! We're having my youngest evaluated to see if he needs a speech therapist on Monday, because of the hearing loss he had suffered due to all those ear infections. The best news so far is his hearing is back to normal! So the tubes worked!

Wishing DEW dust your way,

10-27-2006, 06:43 PM
Danielle - so how was it when your little ones were all under 4? DH and I are thinking about #3...if there will be a #3...when... I feel so overwhelmed sometimes with the 2 - they are 16 months apart. So I know if/when we have #3, there will be more of a age gap since Melina is already 18 months.

Nori, I actually really enjoyed having them all small together. It was an amazing experience for me, and now that they're older I find myself actually mourning that period of time. The dynamic does change as they get older, not so much when they were toddlers. Right now we're experiencing the whole "feeling left out" thing, more so with the littlest one. My sister is preggers now and due in March and they had adopted a baby girl last year and she'll be a year on Dec 13! To say the least, she's a tad nervous. lol I also think that girls are alot harder than boys! My son is a dream, my girls no so much sometimes! lol

Kim, my girls are 10 & 12. I will definitely be asking you for advice, they drive me nuts sometimes! lol I love 'em to pieces, but my gosh, the cattiness and whining is astonishing to me! I am the oldest of 4 girls (I'm 37) and my youngest sister is just barely 17. None of us were planned, my mom claims it's cause "God knew" that she would lose her head had we been all close in age. LOL The only thing with that whole scenario....I feel like I've been playing the mom role since the age of 6! I also have a son who's 13 going on 14 next month...may ask you some pointers there too! lol Hope today is going well for you, my kids were off today as well.

Sarah, I hope you and hubby have a lovely time on your getaway!!!!! I know you'll do great with your meals!!! Glad that ds tubes are working, and good luck with the therapist.

Melissa, where are you? You can't come in here and say hi and then never be heard from again. LOL Seriously woman, come out come out wherever you are!!! :)

Ladies, have a terrific weekend! I hope that I'll see you guys here over the next few days, gets lonely on the weekends here! Be good and stay strong!

10-27-2006, 08:25 PM
Good Afternoon everyone and thanks so much for the warm welcome!! Sorry didnt mean to be rude and take so long to come back (Danielle, I'd never abandon you! LOL!) Its just been one of those days. AF showed up last night and I'm just beat today. Tried to get all the finishing touches on Halloween done, I think I'm almost there. Wont it be great to be able to just go to the store and buy a costume and know that its gonna fit? Man!

I was down .2 this morning, not alot but since AF is here I'll take it!

I'll have to be back later to do personals, my dd missed the bus from her afterschool activity so I'm off to fetch her! I hope everyone had a wonderful Friday! Mine was surprisingly good considering!!

10-27-2006, 10:34 PM
Danielle - I'm the oldest of 6 girls and 1 boy. I'm 35 and my little brother (the youngest) is 19. I just remember my Mom as so put together, organized, happy, the mom all my friends loved...she assures me that she was not all of these things all of the time...but that's how I remember it...and I compare myself to her sometimes. I love being a Mom and all, I just wish I'd started it all earlier than I did - I was 32. I do look forward to sleeping through the night, after nearly 3 years of not sleeping good! And I keep saying that I will not get pg until Melina sleeps better. She's still up 2-3 times a night. Times will change though! And everyone I talk to says they miss these days soooo much.

10-28-2006, 12:36 AM
Thanks girls for the GL with the moving!!!

I'm excited and yet scared at the same time!!!

I have decided that right now money wise that we can't afford th gym. With only one of us working, things are tough.

I am still walking everyday and wathcing what I eat!! I'm up to 50 ounces of water a day ( Which isnt' that much but for me that's ALOT!!)

So I hope that you girls are having better luck than me and have a great weekend!!

10-30-2006, 09:37 AM
well morning ladies,
had a nice 3 day weekend with kids off on friday... my first grader has a play today so i will be attending that later. I am eating oatmeal.. not a usual breakfast food for me but needed something warm and filling for the start today! I exercised on sat.. yeah!
I sneaked a peak at the scales this am.. hope they continue downward all I will say is I was 231 last wed.. and it looks like it should be in the 220's by end of month! My goal was 226, but heck anything in the 220's is better than the thirties!

Danielle~ you can PM me anytime too.. Yes girls can be so caddy and whiny... some..most outgrow it.. tho not all.. hahaha... I do a girls day/night out.. where just us gals go out say to denny's or friendly's get a desset or a cheap movie or walk the boardwalk and get fries.. just do a gal pal thing.. mine always borrowed each others clothes.. they ended up wearing the same size for awhile.. projects or crafts can bring out the less whiny in them.. like baking together and ask the older one to help the younger one and be gracious about.. mine bicker and fight but the 9 yr old is always trying to help the 6 yr old be like a "teacher/mom" to her.. sometimes too much for the other one's liking!

Nori~How's work going? are you balancing everything ok? I want a part time job just to pay down my credit card a little..eek...this time of year I need to cut it up! I am unofficial in the 220's.. I think I am the oldest one .. tho i do not feel like it.. at 43...sssshhhh don't repeat that.. haha have a good one!

Melissa welcome!!! where are you from and have any kids?? how much to lose and are u game for the november challenge??

Mo~what is your week like this week?? still getting to the gym?? is it really helping weightloss??? you have been so good! who is in the lead so far with the challenge??

Catherine~ Hello!! How are you... good to see's everything?

Sarah~ keep up the good work, we can do this....

Serena..wtg with all your efforts! yeah...

Challenge::: we need to post october's total loss for each one as of oct 31... so post here by 10/31...

New challenge... let's vote. november challenge 11/1-11/30 then we can do a dec challenge too... or 11/1-12/31..

I personally vote for november challenge and december challenge.. 4 weeks at a time seems more motivating to me but we'll vote, ok?? 1 challenge or 2....let me know...

drink that water ladies.. how much do u drink?? I drink about 50-60 oz a day and trying to do more... ok well have a great one all!! Kim

10-30-2006, 09:47 AM
FIVE HORRIBLE GIGANTIC POUNDS IS WHAT I GAINED THIS WEEKEND! The scale said 204 this morning. It seems like a really bad joke, because this weekend we did SO much walking! If anyone's been to Gatlinburg, you know what I mean. You walk from your hotel to everything. We also did active things - toured the aquarium, shopped, and played mini golf! As for my meals, I hate my typical weekend fare. The only thing different? Since the kids were with their grandparents, I had a couple of drinks each night we were away. Do you guys think that could be the problem? I'm going to do an exercise video tonight and see if it helps. I also need to drink more water. I'm still not near 64 oz.

Nori, Danielle, and Kim - loved reading about having girls. LOL :)

Melissa - welcome back!

Erika - are your furbabies cats dogs?

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!! I see November as being a great month for our goals!!!!!

10-30-2006, 09:48 AM
Kim - I vote for 2 challenges. I need focus for the holidays!!!

10-30-2006, 10:21 AM
Hello ladies: I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm a little disgusted at myself for overeating this weekend. I had done SO good last week and then I ate a real fattening dinner Saturday night and had way too many sweets at the movies. I had a good weigh in but I know it could have been better had I not eaten all the junk. It was like slapping myself in the face after doing all that damned exercise last week!

Oh well, the big picture is what counts and for the October Challenge my total weight loss is 8.6 lbs.

Two separate challenges for November and December sound good to me, that's my vote.

Sarah: I hope you had a great time on vacation. I just saw your post and don't get upset over the gain, chances are if you gained it that fast it will come off that fast. Maybe the alcohol made you retain water, try flushing it out of your system with water.

Nori: you have a whole new motivation with your mother doing The Zone!!

Catherine: any news on the possible promotion, when will you know if you get it?

Kim: it's oatmeal for me today too, it is nice to have a warm breakfast. Last night DD was crying that DS pulled her off the couch! He's usually very good with her and I think they were both doing it to each other but she's the one who tends to end up getting hurt! Then the drama queen comes out. When she complains about him I ask her if she'd rather have one of the neighborhood boys for a brother and then I think she realizes he's not so bad after all!

Erika: you'll find plenty of things to do outside a gym to get exercise. I really enjoy walking. You could even do it with weights on your ankles and hands. Walk Away The Pounds or a walking DVD is great if you have a DVD player. Hip-Hop dance is also great exercise and fun if you can keep up!

Melissa: hope you had a good weekend and AF has left. I've waited as long as possible but I think tonight I'm going to have to buy my Halloween candy!

Weekend Summary:
Food Points: Friday 27 pts. Saturday 50 pts. Sunday: 23 pts.
Exercise: Friday: none Saturday: 45 minutes Sunday: none
I really wanted to go to the gym yesterday but I didn't have the time. I'm going to try to go every day but Tuesday this week. I would so much like to get into Onederland by next Monday but that might be setting myself up for failure?????

I'm going to update my stats now. Take care.

10-30-2006, 10:24 AM
Oh, I lost 2 lbs. this week.....barely!

10-30-2006, 01:52 PM
I'm shocked that my scale said 227.8 this am???? I was sick all weekend and hardly ate. How can I be up? It must be all this gunk in my sinuses? Oh well.

10-30-2006, 04:12 PM
Nori: that stinks big time! Try weighing again on Wednesday. I think when we're sick our bodies act so weird, maybe you aren't going to the bathroom as regular as if you weren't sick or you're retaining fluids. You know you ate good that's whats important, the scale will see it your way in a few days. Hang in there.

10-30-2006, 05:05 PM
Mo - WAY TO GO for the October challenge! That's fabulous!!!!! And thanks for the kind words - I'm hoping it's just some strange alcohol-induced retention, too. LOL

Nori - you poor thing!! No worries - it'll drop right off.

Hi everyone. my name is Teresa. I just turned (can't believe it, lol) 49 years old. I don't feel that age though, lol. I'm married to Jim for 22 years. Have a son (30) and a daughter (28). Have 3 grandkids, 2 boys age 5 & 7 and one girl aged 8. I'm a certified nurse aid, looking for employment. I live in West Virginia. I've lost 20.8 lbs. but need to loose 50+ more. I'm currently following weight watchers flex plan. I like to collect and try out recipes, reading and gardening. Very nice to meet everyone. Have a nice week with many postive results. Here's to all of us loosing more weight or inches gone. :bravo:

Hi guys! Dropping by super quick, I've got tons to do here at the moment. I hope everyone had a great weekend. For me, it went entirely too quick! LOL

Kim, yeah the catty arguements are what get to me, and they seem to escalate which is nerve wracking! lol Hoping they grow out of it sooner than later, altho I realize that potentially I have years of this ahead of me! LOL Oh well, I love 'em to death anyways. I am up for 2 challenges, seems to make me more focused in smaller incriments.

Nori, no worries the weight will drop off! I do hope you get to feeling better very soon!

Mo, congrats on the 2 pounds chicky!!!! So you had an icky weekend food wise, you've got a new week ahead of you. You can do it!! What movie did you see? Good luck with the candy! Luckily we never buy any as we're always out with the kids trick or treating temptation there for me.

Sarah, you did not gain 5 pounds. You know most of that is more than likely salt and I dont know about you, but without a doubt whenever I travel (anywhere) I tend to swell and retain water. Betcha you drop it first thing! I'm so glad you guys had a great time out together!!

Erika, keep up the good work hon. Eating right and doing whatever exercise you can will certainly add up in the long run!!!

Teresa, welcome! You will love these great ladies, so full of inspiration and motivation! Congrat's on your losses so far, I know you will reach that goal in no time. There are several ladies here that follow WW so I'm sure you'll have lots to chat about! Good luck!

Alright, well hate to just "write & run" :D but I've got loads of laundry waiting and kids homework to help out with. Great to see you ladies here today!!!!!

Thanks girls!!

I have been going for walks... but I just can't seem to get a set schedule and it's hard for me.

I've been sick for over a week, and trying to bust through it. I'm going to the dr in the morning and hope to come back on meds for my PCOS and what is causing me to be sick.

Just wanted to tell you all that I hope your weight loss is going better than mine!!

I was at 289 and it went back up to has been at 293 for almost 3 weeks.

10-31-2006, 10:00 AM
Thanks for the warm welcome Dainelle. I really appreciate that. I have surfed 3 fat chicks for months, lol, not knowing how to join a group and then I seen this group's warm invitation. Just want to say thanks. I really needed that invitation and much needed support. I know that you all are a swell group by the warm invitation. LookingForHelp16, I know what you mean. Like Dainelle said, I also swell on trips, eat way to much salt and sodium rich foods. Does anyone have a salt substitute that taste good that I could use instead of salt. That sodium will bloat a person and it does me, lol, like a blowed up frog. So just hang in there and keep on keeping on. You can do it. We'll do it together. My weight yo yo's around. I eat in volume so I have to eat loads of veggies, have to throw a sandwich made with diet bread, (2 slices for 80 calories) in there late at night to keep from eating sweets and junk food which I really like a lot. Now, this is where I slack big time, lol, exercise, whew that's a hard word for me. I need to get more active other than cleaning house and babysitting a child. So, open for tips on that. Everyone have a nice day today and a great week. May we all have great success. :) Teresa

Happy Halloween Ladies :haphal:

Teresa: Welcome to the thread. It's always great to have new members. We are about the same height and weight and I'm doing WW also. I love to cook and read also...but I hate to garden! I'm just too lazy! Congrats on the weight loss you already achieved. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Erika: I hope you feel better soon. Have some chicken soup :getwell:

Danielle: I went to see Running with Scissors, I may have talked about reading that book a while back, it was good but as always, the book was better.

Sarah, Nori, Kim, Melissa, Catherine: I hope you're all doing well. It looks like most of us voted for two seprate challenges, tomorrow should we start a new thread for "DEW It, November Challenge"?

B: oatmeal 3
L: Smart One & grapes 6
S: granola bar 2.5
D: PB&J on WW bread 7
S: granola bar (@ 3 a.m.!) 2.5
Pts: 21 Exer: 55 min Water: 40 oz + 3 teas

Have a great Halloween and "MOVE AWAY FROM THE CANDY DISH"! I'll be repeating that to myself all night!

11-01-2006, 01:43 AM
:welcome2: Teresa! So happy you joined us here!

Danielle - hold your "it'll come off in no time" encouragement to me. :foot: I totally sabotaged myself tonight. We had 1 trick-or-treater and I had 3 bags of miniture candy bars. I "meant" to buy stuff that I'm not "into" and now instead of eating a proper dinner I ate about 7 miniture bars. :yikes: Ugh. I could have just kept right on eating them, but did get my stuff together before totally losing control. (Yes, ladies, 7 miniture bars isn't the worst binge I've had by a long shot!) I had a wonderful Pilates class today and drank tons of water, so not all is lost.

I'm so up for a November challenge starting tomorrow.

See ya'll tomorrow. I'm so sad that I cannot get on here at 3FC at work. The IT guys blocked it for some reason. I asked them why and they said it's just the security software that they upgraded to. It blocks lots of sites.

11-01-2006, 08:09 AM
Teresa - welcome!!! If you're looking for something with the true salt taste and less sodium I recommend Morton Lite Salt. You can find it in a typical grocery. There's less sodium, more potassium, and it measures and cooks and flavors just like salt. I like all of the Ms. Dash's - they don't taste like salt, but they can give vegetables and baked potatoes lots of flavor. My husband prefers the "Table Blend" version, and I like the Spicy one.

I hope by the time I weigh again (Friday) I will be back to normal.

Mo - keep repeating stay out of the Holler it loud enough for me to hear at my house.

Danielle - hello!

Erika - what is PCOS? Hope you're okay.

Nori - can't believe they blocked the site. Work used to be my prime time for getting on here. :) I had more breaks at work than at home with my little guys.

hi ladies....
OK.. sound off your grand total for month of october loss!!!
copy and paste this area to your post ok??

Kim: -5.5 CW(228.5)
Mo: -8.6

TJ ..I know u are just joining so we are having 2 challenges via our vote..
1 for November and 1 for December.. most weight loss.. each month.. so weigh in today and weigh in each week to report and then we'll see who wins ..

ok everyone report in by today or tomorrow so we can email special things as awards to the winner.. I think unofficially it is Maureen(Mo) so chime in so we know who is where.. you can put current weight if you want.. don't have to... if you don't mind the winner give their email address so we can email cool good wishes.. etc...

mo..way to go 2 lbs!! you did great!! you are reallly rising to the challenge.. what was the grand total loss for you for month of october?? mine was 5.5.. hey at least it was a loss... I can relate to the drama queen syndrome my DD(9) usually play trips one of her bigger brothers(13 & 14) just playing and then they supposedly "play" back and she gets hurt.. and the tears flow and I hear MOM in the blood curdling way I am surprised she has not broken glass yet with the pitch she can get to.. LOL but I know they can be rough with her so we are always on them about it..but she LOVES to annoy them,.. provoke even (little devil)..hehehe

Sarah~ just batten down the hatches.. it is a new month! you can do it.. glad you're back! No worries.. I have had to relose a few pounds way more times than i care to admit! but alas NO MORE!!!!!

Nori~ are you feeling better??? I agree with Mo just reweigh in a day or 2..

Catherine~ how is everything going for you these days??

Danielle~ I don't know about your house.. but there is a table full of candy.. and I stuffed myself with reeses last night but now I told myself that was it no more.. a one time deal! I exercised this am already and skipping a bigger breakfast hoping to offset my indulges from last evening( I was an oinker)lol
have a good one..

Melissa, Erika, TJ glad to see you all .. glad you found our group.. are you all up for the November weightloss challenge??

Ok well as far as me.. my losses are steadily moving .. i am happy with that... DH is off to fish at the beach and I am off to shop for more decor.. need a couple rectangle style mirrors.. ok bye all!! Kim

11-01-2006, 11:09 AM
Ok ladies, I guess we'll keep Novembers post here in this thread??? If not, let me know if we move.

My total loss for the October Challenge was 8.6 lbs.
Starting weight for November challenge is 202.2

I will definitely be in Onederland by Thanksgiving even if I have to saw off one of my legs. Last night I didn't have any candy but I did have two biscotti dipped in chocolate with a gummy worm on them from the lady down the street who runs a bakery out of her house. I missed the gym but did walk around with my kids so that's a little exercise ;)

B: oatmeal 3
L: Smart One & grapes 7
D: porkchop & mushrooms, bread 10
S: biscotti 6

Pts: 26 Exer: none Water: 40 oz?
(I may have eaten a granola bar yesterday, I can't remember 2.5 pts more??

Kim: great job keeping us in the "challenge" spirit. I hope you found your mirrors.

Nori: Ok, here's my tough love speech, first a hug  Didn't you hear me yelling "move away from the candy" :club: You are the one in my mind that never cheated and was always exercising. It's your fault I joined a gym! Now, November is your chance to take back the title, are you up to it?? :boxing:

Sarah, Teresa, Erika, Danielle, Catherine, anyone else I'm missing? We've got 30 days starting today to make this thread full of the Biggest Losers!

:coach: Come on girls, let's pull together and kick each other's butt :kickbutt:

Well, I'm back and it looks like I'm way behind. I may not get the opportunity to go back and read everything to get caught up but I hope everyone is doing well. I didn't do too good. We ate out a lot. But I thought I did pretty good with the amounts though but we didn't do a lot of hiking with our boys but we did do alot of walking at some places that we took the boys too.

11-01-2006, 05:24 PM
Serena: Glad you're back. Don't sweat last week. Today is Day 1 of our November Challenge. The slate for October has been wiped clean!!!

Ok ladies, it looks like we have a healthy competition going on for November. We're all capable of winning this one. May the "biggest loser" win! I'm off to the gym but I'm tired, I hope I don't fall off one of the machines...

11-02-2006, 10:17 AM
Hello ladies:

I hope everyone had a great Day 1 of the challenge. These challenges really help me mentally. Last night I went to my mom's for my sister's birthday (after I went to the gym). I had a little macaroni for dinner and because Day 1 kept flashing through my mind, I had no cake, or pie!!!! They all teased me and handed me the fat free coolwhip saying it was the only thing I could eat that was on the table. I can't believe I passed up the cake, it kept staring me in the face!

I found a recipe for baked potato soup in a WW magazine, does anyone subscribe to it? I borrowed one from a friend and it didn't look bad I was wondering if it was worth it.

B: oatmeal = 3
L: Smart One & granola bar = 8
D: macaroni = 8
S: skinny cow ice cream = 3
Pts: 22 Exer: 54 min Water: 40 oz?

11-02-2006, 10:57 AM
It's freezing rain here this am. I really wanted some more pretty fall weather - but it's been downright cold already. Around 10-12 degrees at night. Cold for here for November!

CHALLENGE IS ON!!! Not everyone has posted their Nov 1 start weight yet. Teresa - I assumed your ticker was correct?

My girls and DH have the stomach flu. I'm taking acidopholis (SP?) ini hopes of advoiding it. I haven't been able to exercise yesterday and probably will not today. We'll see how it goes. Doing everything around home and working.

11-02-2006, 11:43 AM
Kim: I've missed my last 2 Tuesday weigh ins but I think I'm about 184. I"ll try to get somewhere today to weight myself.

11-02-2006, 12:18 PM
Kim: -5.5 CW(228.5)
Mo: -8.6
Danielle: SW: 247.5
Erika: 4 pound loss! ( takes me at 289)

Good Morning Girly Girls!!!

Ugh, kills me to even write my weight anywhere. But hey, I guess I need to keep facing it, eh?

I hope you all had a great halloween and are staying out of the candy! Very strange one here this year, not a whole lot of people out in the streets, nor were there a whole lotta people handing candy out -- lots of dark houses this year. Candy hasn't been too much of an issue for me luckily, however, the craving for holiday type food has been overwhelming! Especially dessert type stuff. Bah!

Kim, yes I am a stay at home mom. I don't follow WW but would love the pumpkin recipe. Anything that is lower fat & calories will help!!! I tried WW a couple years ago but grew too obsessed with the #'s aspect of it so I quit.

Nori, hope you're staying warm. I hope the family gets to feeling better real soon, the stomach stuff is always such a bummer the way it sweeps thru the entire family like it does. Keep taking your supps I hear those work great!

Serena, hi!!! Great to see you back here, I hope vacation was fun for you!

Mo, you were strong last night!!! No cake at a b-day would be a miracle for me. LOL Your scale will repay you grandly for that sacrafice I'm sure. Your soup sounds interesting, let us know if you decide to make it!

Erika, 300 minutes! You can do it!!!

Well, not a whole lot from me today girls. Pretty quiet around here for the most part, now if I could find a way to get rid of my neighbors I'd be thrilled! lol Night before last (halloween) they had people over and were out on their balcony above us til 6:30a.m. I kid you not! And our bedroom window is right near that balcony so we can hear everything. Not to mention they're not the quietest bunch to begin with, so needless to say I got no sleep that night and have just been like the walking dead the last 2 days!

Have a fantastic day ladies! Stay strong and remember those goals!!!

♥ Danielle

11-02-2006, 12:40 PM
Danielle: you poor thing that was very inconsiderate of them to be outside until that time in the morning. You should get some of that gag stuff that smells like rotten eggs and put it out on your deck below them, maybe it will drive them inside!

Nori: wow, that's cold for November, it seems we have no transition of the seasons lately, it goes right from one to another. Tonight it's supposed to dip into the 30's I think. DH is ordering oil today, it was $2.14 when I called for the price the other day. A lot of people I know locked in at a much higher rate so I guess that's not too bad. We usually burn a lot of wood so that helps keep the fuel bill down but even with that it's outrageous.

Today's my 16th anniversary so I'm trying to decide what to make for dinner. Maybe I'll stop and buy something special and make a nice big salad. We're going to the casino to celebrate Saturday night, I better bank some bonus points!

DD asked if she could get a present because of the anniversary and I said it's ok honey you don't have to get us anything. She said no, I meant do I get a present?? She's a cheeky little devil sometimes! :dizzy:

11-02-2006, 01:38 PM
DD asked if she could get a present because of the anniversary and I said it's ok honey you don't have to get us anything. She said no, I meant do I get a present?? She's a cheeky little devil sometimes! :dizzy:

This is too cute, Mo! LOL I swear, kids will try and figure out any ole way to get a present, huh? Mine always try and use any excuse to ask for one, they get sneakier as they get older too! lol

Happy Anniversary!!!! I hope you and dh have a lovely time at the casinos!

Yeah, the neighbors are not the brightest bulbs and they've really ticked me off for the last time. What's frustrating is that we rent this condo, the people above us we're in constant 2nd party mode in terms of dealing with our landlord and anything ever getting settled regarding this matter. The HOA is useless here as well and relies heavily on the rent-a-cops to "take care" of things. Frustrating!!! But I got 'em good the next morning (yesterday), I vacuumed every square inch of this place, ceilings, walls, everything for 55 minutes! HA! :D Slammed doors, sliding glass door back and forth the way they do it (it's loud lemme tell ya!) and I set my truck alarm off this morning at 6:30 while their windows were open. heehee Probably not the most mature thing to do, but I figure if I can disrupt some of their sleep the way they do mine ALL THE TIME I can be a little happy. I can't wait to get out of here!!!

11-02-2006, 02:25 PM
Danielle - my mom lives in a condo, and the girl who lives above her decided it'd be a great idea to get an electric piano. So my mom has taken to late night cleaning and slamming, too! She did ask the girl nicely to turn it down first, but she pretty much ignored her. The girl above also went and bought two little yippy dogs who are always carrying on. Condo life is rough. Since we've been married, this is our first stand alone home. We've always lived in base housing and had some horrible neighbors!

Mo - your dd sounds too cute!

Nori - brr! Freezing rain, yuck.

Serena - welcome back!!! At least you got a lot of walking in. :)

Erika - great goal!!!!

Kim - keep up the great work!

Hope I didn't miss anyone - can't figure out how to read the previous page and this page without losing my message. LOL

Tonight I have tennis - I feel like I burn more calories doing that than any thing else I do. Monday I'm going to try out a "Taerobics" class. I'll let you know how it goes!!

11-02-2006, 07:29 PM
Hello ladies! I just had to read up on four pages of friendship. WOW! It is so nice to see and hear from everyone and meet the new people.
Ok My oct. weight stunk, so let's try this again!:o

Starting weight 192, YES! YES! I have gained most of it back.
Exercise none so far, using too many excuses! I do need a big kick in the butt!!:sorry:

I drank 80 ounces of H2O on Monday.
70 ounces on Tuesday
100 ounces on Wednesday
50 so far today

I did good and ate the Turkey Burger at Ruby tuesday's on Monday instead of eating a regular burger. :burger: It was awesome!!!! I actually got to eat lunch with my husband. One of our few moments alone.

Halloween Candy, what an evil thing!

Mo, I did get the promotion. Still going through paper work. I work for the state, so I get one raise already this month, that is only 3%. Not sure what my raise will be with the promotion. I will take anything right now.

Ok everyone I want everyone to yell at me and help me get motivated. I really do need that kick in the butt!

Well, I am going to go! Hope everyone has a nice night.
LOL, Catherine

11-02-2006, 07:53 PM
Sarah, good for your mom! LOL Yeah, its *ahem* amazing how motivated I get for housecleaning on those days when I've had very little sleep. :D And of course I can plead innocent because I'm doing it during "normal" hours, not my fault they're all sleeping off hangovers at noon, right? ;) We've been doing apt/condo life for about 4 years so it's taken some getting used to. For awhile there I just thought maybe it was me and that I wasn't cut out for this, but then dh brought up a point that while we've been in this place (going on 3 years in Mar) we had some really great upstairs neighbors and none of my anxiety over this started til these morons moved in! Makes me so mad!!! I hope you had a great time at tennis!!!

Catherine, I won't give you a kick but I'll give ya a  It's wonderful to see you here today! I hope that you will find inspiration in the thought that we're all here with you, taking it one day at a time together. Your water is great, keep it going!!! Glad you enjoyed your time with DH, I so do love those times with mine too.

11-02-2006, 10:58 PM
Hey Girls!! I'm finding that getting the minutes in is easier than I thought.

My weight was like 293 - then to 289- then back to 293.. I wasn't so happy about that until this morning I got on the scale and it was 292!

That's a pound back in the right direction!! THat made me sooo happy!!

I think today I've had around 50 ounces of H2O!!!

Can I count my stair time as with my minutes?

And my last question is, does anyone know where there is a minute ticker that you don't have to recreate everytime you need to update?

11-03-2006, 12:25 PM
Hello ladies:

It's good to see everyone posting.
Erika: I'm not real good on tickers, I did one for weight, would the minutes be the same?
Catherine: Great job on the water and eating a turkey burger! I'm having a hard time with my water.
Danielle: two whole days done with for our November Challenge!
Kim: where are you? Did you do your WATP tape last night?
Nori: I hope the girls are feeling better and you're getting your rest.
Serena: Did the kids go trick or treating?
Sarah: wow, tennis, I wish I was that coordinated! Did you have fun?

My BF who I joined the gym with put her back out yesterday so I exercised at home by myself but it wasn't the same. I only did 15 minutes on an old exercise bike and about 15 or so of pilates cardio. When I'm at the gym I push myself more because I don't want to look like a wuss getting off a machine too quickly :o I guess I'll have to venture to the gym by myself tonight because my friend is still unable to go. This will be a real challenge...a gym by myself on a Friday night!

B: oatmeal = 3
L: smart one = 8
S: biscotti & tea = 3
D: fresh crab meat/butter, slice of bread, few potato slices = 9
Pts: 23 Exercise: 30 min. Water: 40 oz?

Have a great weekend. I'll be using my bonus points+ tomorrow night. I made a reservation at the Todd English restaurant at the casino...that's unless I lose all my money before dinner, then I'll be eating at a hot dog cart!

11-03-2006, 12:27 PM
I just realized BF must mean boy friend, I meant it as best friend...I didn't want you to think I had a little something on the side!!!

11-03-2006, 01:06 PM
LOL! Mo has a BF!! I think I would have figured it out. Don't take you for the doubling up sort! Too busy! I seriously cannot imagine cheating on my DH - but then even if I was tempted, I absolutely don't have the time or energy!

Erika - see, it's heading back down!

Danielle - so sorry about your sleepless night. I cannot sleep with any extra noise - so I have a sound machine in my room. It helps mask TV or street noise. Althought we live on a quiet road, there are still kids that do what kids will do at all hours of the night!

My girls seem to be over the bug. Dh also. I haven't gotten it so far. That'd get my scale moving in the right direction, huh!

11-03-2006, 10:49 PM
Nori - Thanks... I don't understand why, but it seems to be. I'm not changing really anything at all and at the same time getting told that I'm not eating enough! ( check out my fitday if you want to)

Mo - Congrats on keeping yourself going even when there was noone to go with you!!

Catherine - I've never met you but I'm Erika Leigh and Hello!!

Oh well girls, things are going okay here. About to take my break at work and go for a short walk and see what exercise I can squeeze into today!

Hope that things are okay on everyone's homefront!
Wishing you all the best of luck on the weight loss and water drinking!

11-04-2006, 04:02 PM
Mo: my kids did not go trick or treating. We knew we were going to be out of town so we let them dress up for my oldests birthday party. I took their costumes with us just incase there was something going on that they could go to but we ended up taking a train ride through the smokeys on halloween and didn't get back until after dark anyway. They were tired.

I've been thinking about joining a gym. I would really like to take martial arts but I'm more likely to get to a gym than find a martial arts studio. Not doing too well with the eating thing right now. I dread weigh in this Tuesday.

11-04-2006, 10:05 PM
Serena -- I took martial arts for YEARS and loved it!! It was after my sister died that I quit because there was sooo much on our plates!!!1

Everyone else -- I hope that you are holding tight to the Diet, doing the Exercise, and drinking the Water!!

Hello ladies, Wel I am sitting here trying to keep warm. It is a very brisk Sunday afternoon. Think I am coming down with a cold also. My DD and I went to the movies today for some girl time. We went to go see Flicka. My DD is ten. She bet me I would tear up before she did. She won the bet, but she teared up too. We really liked the movie. Wish I had more time to spend with her alone. But things here with the FIL still make everything crazy. My mom is giving me a time about it. I am doing my best to deal with it. My counseler is helping. This is a new one, I really like him. He is already helping me to see a lot.

My water intake is still doing pretty good. I haven't counted today. I refill my water bottle at work constantly and I use those lovely single packets. So that I have some flavor. I did exercise some the other day. Not as much as I should have. I did get to climb quite a few flight of stairs on Friday. That took some of the wind out of me. But I survived!! LOL

Erika, thanks for the hello!

Mo, again thanks for watching out for me.

Nori, Hope you stay well.

Serena, How was the trip through the Smokies? I have heard that is a real cool trip.

Danielle, thanks for the support.

To everyone else hope you all have had a great weekend!

11-06-2006, 09:36 AM
Hello Ladies,
Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone. Weighed myself today and I still weigh 218 lbs. Hubby and I went to two Church dinners with all the trimmings this past week. Ugh, thought I'd gain but didn't. So, I'm ready for the Nov. challenge. Is it every Monday that we weigh in? Everyone have a great week and great success. Good luck to all.

11-06-2006, 10:39 AM
Hello lovely ladies!! I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Catherine: I'm glad you got to spend time with your DD. Good job on the water, and congrats on the promotion!

Nori: I'm glad DH and the girls are feeling better. I hope you escaped without catching the bug.

Teajay: I weigh in on Monday and so do a few others. Serena weighs in at WW on Tuesday nights. You can post your loss whenever you like but we'll all post our final November figure on November 30th if that's ok with everyone.

Erika: Isn't it great to see the ticker move! I added another dancing fat blob to my signature today, I've been looking forward to it!

Hello to everyone else and hope you're all doing well. Weekend confessions: I did eat out on Saturday night but I was good all day leading up to that. Yesterday, I ate below points but I ate junk.

I stocked up on Lean Cuisines yesterday so hopefully I'll be more organized this week. One bad thing is I've been craving spanish pork shoulder w/ rice. I have one marinating in the fridge and will be cooking it tonight. It's very fattening, hopefully DH and the kids will like it and eat some. I'll have to give the rest away or freeze it after my craving is satisfied.

We couldn't wait to eat at the casino Saturday because the earliest reservation they had was 10:30 p.m. We ended up eating at a place called the Steak Loft in Mystic CT instead. It was just alright, very noisy and food was so so. I lost $150 but DH won a $100 so a total loss of $50 wasn't so bad for a night out.

Weight loss for the week was 1.4 lbs for a total of 10 lbs. My next goal is Onederland! My friend still hasn't gone to the gym because her dog that is almost 15 isn't doing well. She's been staying by his side. I did go to the gym by myself Friday night and again on Saturday. Yesterday I took DD to the Dollar Tree store and Christmas Tree Shoppe. We're trying to find some crafty things to do for the holidays.

I'll chat with you all later.

11-06-2006, 01:01 PM
Catherine: It was really nice. It was a 4 hour trip with 1 hour lay over at the Nantahala outdoor center. When I heard how long it was I thought my husband was insane cause our boys are 1,3 and 5 but they actually did real well. Of course it would be a really nice relaxing trip with no kids. My oldest stayed car sick the whole week. Even if we were just going 10 minutes down the road. So we probably won't do it again next year and our middle son got home sick halfway through the trip.

I'm not sure how I'm doing with the weight. I'll be going to weigh in tomorrow and we'll see. I haven't really been watching what i eat this week though.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

11-06-2006, 03:12 PM
Where is my motivation??? ARGH! Must have slipped out the door while I was laying around!! Where is the girl who did at least 3 work out videos a week AND went to the gym? The only thing I've been doing is showing up to tennis and walking the dog.

The good news is, I've enlisted dh's help to keep me more in line. He's going to have to go all Drill Instructor on me and make me exercise. LOL

Happy day to everyone!!!

11-06-2006, 06:28 PM
I do have the stomach bug. Ick.

As soon as I feel better I want to start holiday projects too, Mo!

11-06-2006, 10:13 PM
A little motivation is back - tonight I went to a TaeRobics class at the local rec center. WHOA! It was very challenging and a lot of fun at the same time. It was a lot like a Tae Bo video.

Nori - hope you start feeling better!!!

Mo - loved the crack about BF.....I'm with Nori - we're all too busy and too tired to have the little something on the side!

Catherine - way to go with water!

Danielle - how are you? Those girls treating you right?

Kim - how are you? The kids all being good? :)

Teajay - I absolutely LOVE church dinners! WTG with not gaining!

Serena - how are you? It's great to know you got a chance for a trip. I'm glad the boys were good. My oldest boy (the 5 year old) always gets car sick on curvy roads or changing altitude.

Erika - hope all is well!

Okay, I know I'm forgetting someone, but it's not on purpose! I still can't write and flip between screens. :)

11-07-2006, 10:29 AM
Hi everyone:

My friend had to have her dog put to sleep yesterday, it was very sad. I went to the gym with her last night and she had such circles under her eyes. It was for the best and I'm glad she made the decision. The vet said he was struggling for every breath. He was over 14 years old and he had a great life. She has two other goldens also to console her.

At the gym I was so hungry I had to stop exercising, I thought I'd drop. I told my friend I would wait by the front door because I was so hungry I couldn't go on. Of course what did they have by the front door but a big banquet table full of free pizza. I forgot at Planet Fitness they have free pizza the first Monday of the month. I thought I'd faint when I smelled it. She was laughing when she saw me sitting there in front of it!

B: oatmeal 3
L: Lean Cuisine 5
D: pork/rice 15
S: granola bar 2
Pts: 25 Exer: 42 min Water: 40 oz?

Serena: good luck at weigh in tonight.
Everyone else: stay on plan and have a great day!

11-07-2006, 04:08 PM
Sarah: I'm not sure what went wrong this time. When he first started having problems I decided to get a portable DVD player and the last few trips we've taken have gone really well, including the last time we went to the mountains, the movies helped keep his mind off of things but this time it just didn't help at all.

MO: thanks

11-07-2006, 09:39 PM
LOL-Mo, you passed up free pizza? YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!!!!!

Serena - my husband was carsick when he was little. He grew out of it - so at least there's light at the end of the tunnel! Our dvd player works unless we're changing altitudes - anytime we go into mountains he's gonna get sick. LOL So at least we know to bring lots of plastic bags. ;)

11-08-2006, 09:05 AM
Did anyone read the review on the main page here of YOU: On a Diet? Has anyone read the book?

I just have to take a second here and plug Superfoods again. I'm not saying you need to buy it - you can check it out from a library and enjoy it. Write down the 14 superfoods, and try to include them in your diet. Superfoods isn't a diet. It won't tell you to do anything different, except to include the Superfoods into your current eating plan.

11-08-2006, 11:40 AM
Good Morning To All.
Beautiful morning here. The sun is shinning so nice. Sarah, yes, I like those dinners but lots of times, they get me into trouble with the weigh ins, lol. The superfoods, does it help to loose more weight? Mo, congrads on weight loss, wtg & wow on passing up pizza. You have the will power I wish I had. Thanks for info on weigh ins.I like your little dancing blobs that represents every 5 lbs. gone, they are so cute. Nori, hope you get to feeling much better each day. Sorry to hear you are sick and feeling icky. As far as my weight, holding at 218 lbs. Got to stay away from those dinners with all the trimmings, lol. Everyone have a great week & great success. Good luck to all. Had company out of state didn't get to check in as much as I wanted too, will try to do better and keep up better, got a little behind, sorry.

11-08-2006, 12:51 PM
Hi everyone:

Teajay: come on now, who's more important us, or your out of state friends!;) You should have come online and they would have thought you were having a cyber affair! I would have eaten the pizza had I not been afraid of being caught by my friend! :o

Sarah: I'll check out that book, I remember someone saying blueberries were one of the foods. My mom might have it, if not I'll check out the library. Taerobics! You animal you!!! That's so great. Send some energy my way, I've been petering out lately at the gym and instead of increasing, I'm going down slightly in minutes or barely staying the same.

Nori: I hope you're tucked up in bed with a bowl of chicken soup and a good book. Get better soon, I miss you.

Serena: I give my DD children's dramamine when we go on road trips, it seems to work for her. DVDs help her stay busy but sometimes the tilting down of her head is what gets her sick.

Erika, Danielle, Kim, Catherine: :drill: Role Call!!! Front and center, what are you up to?

I'm eating Apple Crisp oatmeal and it's so fragrant, I feel like I'm eating a Yankee Candle.

B: oatmeal 3
L: Lean Cuisine, granola bar 7
S: 2 Lindt chocolate truffles :o :o 3
D: pork & rice, little piece of chicken: 14 (?)
S: skinny cow ice cream 3
Pts: 30 Exer: 46 min Water: 40 oz?

Have a great day. No gym tonight because DH won't be home till late. Maybe I'll try one of my WATP DVD's or some pilates....or just rest!

Have a great night. Mo

11-08-2006, 12:54 PM
A shopping gift idea... My DD is 10 and wants a MP3 player. I saw one on for just $49. The Creative MuVo V100 is 1 GB and has a voice recorder which I'm sure she'll love. It seems to be a really good starter MP3 player for someone her age. It doesn't charge though like mine does but it takes only 1 AAA battery. Just thought I'd pass the info on. I looked it up on and it got pretty good reviews and it showed a much higher selling price.

11-08-2006, 05:03 PM
Weigh in was last night. I gained 2.4 pounds. I'm going in the wrong direction, and of course I had to listen to my husband afterwords. He wasn't really mean just really annoying. I actually think I did fine while we were out of town. I think those 2 pounds were from our week back in town. My mother has lots of junk food. She's doing the South Beach diet and somehow she managed to stay away from bread and sugar for 2 whole weeks. I told her she was on her own with that one cause I can't do it. I have some form of bread with every meal of the day. Which is probably one of my problems. She lost over 6 pounds her first 2 weeks though. Anyway, I'm trying to get back on the wagon. I can't stand to even look at myself in the mirror anymore. The husband caught me trying to take down the full size mirror out of the bathroom awhile back and wouldn't let me. He enjoys looking at himself.

11-08-2006, 05:32 PM
Ok MO! I am here, I have not been far away. I have been tired but not far away. One thing about this promotion is I now going at 3 in the morning. I still don't leave until about 12:30 or 1:00 though. Do to some changes I do get my own office and computer. At least that is what my boss is calling it. Anyways I did do my free weights and squats Monday night. I use the weights for my legs also. If all goes well and I don't fal asleep first I will do it all again tonight. I need to get back to using my stability ball. I only did 50 of the 100 squats that I used to do. I could have done more, but I just quit. I do lift 1000 to 1500 pounds a day in 50 pound incraments. My shoulders and back are getting stronger. Well, I am going to make dinner now. ANd then hopefully exercise shortly before I go to bed.

11-09-2006, 10:58 AM
Hi ladies:

Catherine: great job on doing your exercise, I don't know how you work those hours! I tried working 11 p.m - 7:30 a.m. as a supervisor years ago and I hated it. DH would be getting ready for bed and I'd be getting dressed to go to work.

Serena: don't sweat the weigh in, it's just one week and you had a feeling it wasn't going to be good. Next week will be better.

I'm off tomorrow for Veteran's Day but I'll try to check in from home over the weekend.

B: oatmeal= 3
L: Lean Cuisine, 1 granola bars & 2 dum dum lollipops = 11
D: picked at the plate of pork roast then ate a bagel w/ PB= 12

Hello to the rest of you ladies and I hope you're feeling better Nori.

I'll try to get to the gym on my way home because I don't want to miss two days in a row.

11-09-2006, 11:52 AM
When I graduated high school I started working at the post office. I had to be there at 2:30 am. I only did it for about 6 months but I haven't had a good nights sleep since. It really screwed my sleeping up. Then I got married and it got worse cause my husband always suffered from night terrors and then I had kids and it got even worse. So I'm 30 years old and I look and feel about 15 years older.

I hope everyone is doing well.

My mother made "Taco Soup" last night. It was really good and I imagine it probably wasn't a lot of points cause it was mostly vegetables. Of course the big piece of cornbread that I ate with it probably didn't do me much good.

11-09-2006, 04:17 PM
Hi All,
Had a terrrible day yesterday, had sweet craves big time. Ended up eating, yep, 5 chocolate covered cherries. There's 5 more left in box, told hubby he could have them. Hope he eats them soon, lol. My hubby can eat everything & not gain an ounce. Me I smell it & gain, lol. Doing better today though, so far so good. Had a slim fast for breakfast and a veggie salad for lunch. I'm not much of a breakfast eater.

Mo: You are so funny, I always chuckle when reading your post. Pizza is one of my weaknesses.

Serena: I've been there too, I avoid mirrors but one day we will be there before we know it. Let's show the hubbies that we can do it. Hate to admit it but I outweigh my husband & that bothers me big time.

Catherine: Way to go with the exercising, that's what I need but very lax on that. Need to blow dust bunnies off the exercise equipment, lol.

Nori: Hope you get well soon. Drink lots of orange juice. Speaking of that, I heard a doctor on tv say, that an 8 oz. cup of orange juice a day would have all the vitamin c that we needed to have per day & would build our immune system. The only thing is, I hate orange juice, lol, go figure.

Everyone else hello, good luck & have great success. Bye to all my important friends, lol. Bye for now, Teresa :)

Hey girls!! I haven't checked in here in a while..

I wanted to let you know that Amanda landed a job at Wal* Mart and starts Saturday.

We signed the lease to our new apartment today.

And I know that my weight had been from 293 - 289 and back to 293. I got on the scale today and it was at 290!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope that things are going well with everyone!!

11-12-2006, 05:57 PM
Hello ladies, thank you all for the support. Well, I weighed this morning and I am down two pounds. I am slowly getting back to where I was in the spring. My water intake is still doing good. Trying to stay away from the soda. So if I do not have water I drink tea. Lots of green tea. I am slowly working up on my exercising. My son is being very supportive. The sad part is he can do lunges like they are going out of style. Puts me to great shame! He is only twelve. He has to do them every day as part of his warmup in PE. His support does seem to be helping though. Eating is a little better. I am trying! Had Mexican yesterday though! MMMM! Good! I know that all the lifting at work is helping my upper body. I need to focus on the lower body at home.

Theresa, Chocolate covered cherries! I do not know how you can eat them. I used to do a slim fast for breakfast it is easier on me at that early hour. Then I stopped and just started eating everything in sight once I did get to eat. I am now drinking a Boost at breakfast on the way to work. One to help regulate my Blood Sugar. It holds off my hunger also.

Serena, I am only 4 years older than you! I am sure you do not look that old. I have been working early shifts on and off since I was 18. You kind of get used to it. I do hate going to bed early though.

Mo, I just do what I have to do. You see I also carry the insurance. My husband has never had a job with good benefits. I have state benefits if that says anything.

Nori, have not heard from you, hope you are doing well.

Greetings to all of the other wonderful ladies here. Have a great week.

11-13-2006, 10:22 AM
Hello ladies:

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

On the bright side, I did go to the gym on Friday night by myself. Saturday I missed the gym but the kids and I went for a bike ride about 4 miles down at the beach. Sunday I went to the gym again. Now for the downside, over my normal allowance I ate 1/2 a chicken quesadilla on Friday night. Saturday my bad food included a piece of pumpkin pie. Yesterday we had last minute out of town company so after the gym I ate a 1/2 a dunkin donuts bow tie then I ran to the local farm marker and italian restaurant to buy food for their visit. I ended up eating two pieces of stuffed bread, two cookies, a bowl of NE clam chowder, a slice of get the picture!

My weigh in today was 200.0 exactly. Still not in Onederland but next week I hope. My loss was .8 for the week, 10.8 lbs. total loss. Only 17 days left of our November challenge!!!! I think I'm only at 2.2 lb loss :?:

11-13-2006, 01:27 PM
I did so good this entire week up until saturday night. Hopefully I atleast have stayed where I'm at and not gone up.

11-13-2006, 01:32 PM
Wtg on weight loss Erika & Catherine. Mo, it will get better. We'll do better next week, I'm sure. I weighed in today at 217lbs. I've only lost 1 lb. I'll take it,lol. Stupid choc. cherries about done me in. I like those so much. Hope everyone else is having great success. Have a good week everyone. Think I'll pop in the ww video & try to exercise today, wish me luck, cause I'm so out of shape. Bye all and have a good day.
Teresa :)

11-13-2006, 01:53 PM
Hey There Serna,
Sorry, missed your post & I just read yours. Wtg on doing better. You're not bad the food is bad. Hang in there and wishing you lots of success. Hello to all the rest and best of luck to all. Bye. Teresa :)

11-14-2006, 03:04 AM
Hi ladies! I feel so bad that I haven't followed along here for a week or so. Got behind...had to catch up! You know the cycle.

Anyways, I haven't lost any weight this month so far. I did start counting calories againt his week though, so that's a good place for me to start putting up consistant losses week after week. Back to Basics.

11-14-2006, 09:50 AM
Good morning ladies:

Nori: glad you're feeling better. I find I have to count something, points, calories, etc. If I don't journal my food intake, I just go out of control.

Teresa: did you do the tape? I can never do a whole one, just work your way back into it.

Serena: good luck at weigh in tonight. Too bad your mom wouldn't do WW with you, it would make things easier for the both of you.

Erika: congrats on the loss and the new apartment, just think of all the calories you'll burn moving all your stuff!

Catherine: it sounds like you get a workout just at the bakery. I hope DH and the kids are doing well.

Kim, Danielle, Sarah: Where are you girls?????? Have we been deserted?

B: oatmeal = 3
L: Lean Cuisine, Banana = 8
S: biscotti, granola bar = 4
D: 1 cup goulash, few bites of bread, 1/4 cup potato salad, I guess I was grazing a bit?? = 11
Points: 26 Exercise: 68 min. walk Water: 16 oz :?:

Can I lose 29 lbs in 18 weeks? If I did it was be "40 lbs. by 40 years old"!! I like to set more achievable goals, but we'll see...I can dream!

11-14-2006, 06:47 PM
Hi ladies!

Erika - congratulations to Amanda on the new job! Have you moved yet/

Mo - awesome job with family exercise!

Nori - so glad you're back!

Serena - are you taking vitamins? I notice that I sleep much better when I take them, and I've also been using Sleepytime Extra tea before bed. I feel much more relaxed and sleep better.

Catherine - yay for your son's support! How's work?

Teajay - lol-great job stopping at 5 chocolate cherries and ditching the rest off on hubby. My hubby can also eat anything and not gain. Soooooo not fair!

Okay - I have to adjust my ticker. I'm way up. This has to be water, because I went from 204, to 200, and now back to 207 in a matter of 3 weeks!!!! Wish me luck buckling down!!!!

11-15-2006, 10:43 AM
Sarah: No actually I don't take vitamens. i keep telling myself I need to and then never remember to buy them.

I lost 3 pounds at Weigh in last night. :carrot: I'm back to a total of 11 pounds lost.

11-15-2006, 02:48 PM
Hello ladies:

Serena: way to go on the 3 lbs lost!!!! :bravo:

Sarah: Glad to see you here. You were hovering at a landmark number and now is time to get serious, don't lose sight of Onederland. I was right on your tail and will start kicking butt if I have to!

For some reason my appetite has increased over the last two days. Maybe TOM is coming? I usually only get it every 3 months but it seems like when my weights goes below 200 I start to get it more regularly. I hope I can control myself through the weekend. Part of my problem is the water. I get an awful metallic taste in my mouth lately when I drink it :?:

B: oatmeal = 3
L: Lean Cuisine, orange = 6
S: biscotti, granola bar = 5
D: 4 bites apple pie (4?), 1 small slice quiche (6?), handful of fruit loops (1), 1/2 cup potato salad (5?)
(I came in from work like a banshee, I couldn't eat fast enough) :?:
Total points: 30? Exercise: 30 min Water: 32 oz?

Is anyone watching The Biggest Loser tonight? I think I'll try to catch at least the ending.

11-16-2006, 10:55 AM
I missed the biggest loser. Who left?

I'm just so busy and I'm thinking about startingwork full time on top of it all

I know I'm losing weight this week. I can feel it! I'm committed!

Well, I only got my Pilates done this am and I'm off to work. TTFN.

11-16-2006, 11:38 AM
Nori: Marty got voted off, unbelievably he lost 8 lbs and was still in the bottom two! I was so mad that the guy Eric from New York was the deciding factor to vote him off. He had told the trainer Bob that he would vote for Wylie because Erik and Marty were the last two blue team members. Instead he voted for Marty, he stabbed him in the back. I would have voted for Wylie strictly because he'll have a huge loss next week (he lost 0 this week). Marty left with no hard feelings though, he truly has a great personality. They showed him going back to school with his students. I think his "now" video was the absolute most shocking so far. He lost a total of 140 lbs (about 50 more since the show) and he looks UNBELIEVABLE!! It showed him playing football, basketball and he was so muscular it was wild. Check it out online and maybe they'll show some of the photos. I was really sorry to see him go. I hope Erik or the brown haired lady goes next, they are really sneaky. I know it's a game but some of the contestants realize that and can be happy for others when they lose, some of those guys are taking it too vicously, just for the money. Anyway, the new girl who I felt bad for last week was such a cry baby on last nights episode...sickening...which reminds me of my eating yesterday :o

B: oatmeal = 3
S: biscotti, granola bar = 4
L: Lean Cuisine = 5
D: 4 slices of spinach/sausage bread = 16? 1" slice of pumpkin pie = 2
Pts: 30 Exercise: none Water: 20 oz?

I don't know how to look up stuffed breads? I guessed, I hope I was close. I was trying to get rid of leftovers from last weekend. The kids finished the quiche. I don't think I'll get to the gym tonight either and DH is gone all weekend so I'll have to try to make myself workout at home with DVDs or pilates. Send me some motivation!! I know Onederland should be my motivation but we're going out to dinner tonight with the kids, I hope I can hang on!!

11-16-2006, 06:34 PM
Is the brown haired lady Kia - from Alaska? I've sorta lost track. It is always so encouraging to see their after the show pics and see the results - and that they've stuck with it at home.

Yes, you are so close to Onederland! You'll be there by Monday.

WTG on the weight loss ladies!!

I'm getting phyced for Christmas! Acutally played some music today!:D

11-16-2006, 08:19 PM

I will have to catch up individually with all of you later .. well bye for now..Kim

11-16-2006, 11:50 PM
Hi Kim! I'm planning T-day also. I want to eat around 2pm this year, so there's not a whole day of food sitting around to tempt me.

I updated out website:

11-17-2006, 10:06 AM
Hello ladies:

Kim: glad to see you back, I'll be looking for that pumpkin pie recipe. I am a night time snacker too. I keep a container of skinny cow ice creams in the freezer. They're 3 points and I try to save points for them or use my bonus points. I usually have one late at night while watching TV.

I've had a cough now for weeks that's slowly gotten worse. Today I feel a little clammy. DH is gone all weekend so maybe I'll just rest (and help DH make her stonehenge model!). DD is having a friend over Saturday, I hope I can handle the girls, she's a bit out of control.

B: oatmeal = 3
L: salad w/ feta = 6
S: biscotti, granola = 4
D: bacon cheeseburger & couple of fries (we went to Friendly's :dizzy: ) = 22
S: few bites of DS ice cream = 2
Pts: 37 :o :tape: Exer: 0 :o Water: 25 oz. :o

I really need to try to work out at home because I can't get to the gym till Monday at least probably.

I hope everyone is having a good week. We have less than two weeks till the end of our November challenge!!! Where is the time going???

Nori: I took a quick peek, the photos are adorable. I think the girls are starting to look a little more like you, especially the younger one. You reminded me I need to start on a Christmas card of the kids :yikes: Last year I kept putting it off and ended up taking a digital photo and rushing to the drug store. The kids faces looked like they had 3rd degree burn!

I'll check in later before I leave work...I'll be leaving early today at 3 p.m. to get DD off the bus and DS from his after school group...(Japanese Anime...right up his alley!)

Just a thought. Maybe we could all PM each other our home addresses for anyone who like to send holiday greetings (just indicate what you celebrate...Christmas, Hanukkah, etc...or just New Years!)

I PM'ed you with my info, Mo. If you get a list together you can then just PM or email (I gave you me email also) me the others.

11-18-2006, 12:05 AM
hi every one!!
Mo I am so proud of you for staying on track and really giving this a go for it attitude!! you're my role model...
Sarah, serena, danielle, and everyone else i hope u all are psyched for the slim down.. I promise to hang in there and route you all on...

Nori.. below is some info i copied form dotties site to slim turkey day down..
Cutting Thanksgiving Day Calories In Half:

Turkey day survival

Below you'll find some great ways to cut your Thanksgiving Day calories in half.

1. Roast some chestnuts over an open fire. At only 70 calories and less than 1 gram of fat per ounce, chestnuts are wickedly low in fat. Compare that to 169 calories and almost 15 grams of fat for the same amount of mixed nuts.

2. Skip the cheese and crackers. One ounce of brie cheese on three crackers hauls in over 150 calories and almost 10 grams of fat. That's more than a roll with butter! Save your calories for the good stuff, like stuffing or dessert. If hors d'oeuvres are a must, go with raw vegetables and a low-fat dip.

3. Undress the turkey. Take the skin off to strip away almost half the fat and a chunk of calories. Six ounces of the bird with the fatty overcoat provide 357 calories and almost 17 grams of fat. Cutback to only four ounces skinless, and you're down to less than 195 calories and 6 grams of fat. Bonus tip: Eat less turkey; you'll use less gravy.

4. Mix less fat into the stuffing and scoop less onto your plate. For every tablespoon of butter you remove from grandma's recipe, you can eliminate 108 calories and 12 grams of fat. Substitute chopped apples and pears for a healthy, moist, sweet flavor. (She'll never know!)

5. Use whipped butter, or better yet, light margarine or I Can't Believe It's Butter Spray (my personal favorite). You can shave about one-third of the calories and fat grams by using a tablespoon of whipped butter rather than the same amount of the stick variety. Since it is "whipped" with air it spreads more easily, so you may even be able to get by with less. Light margarine has only 50 calories per tablespoon. Lastly you can spray on a few sprays of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray which has no calories.

6. Whip sweet potatoes with apple or orange juice instead of butter. This traditional potato dish is all the sweeter without those added calories.

7. Serve the vegetables naked. Veggies don't need a heavy, fat-laden, cheese sauce overcoat.

8. Make pumpkin pie lighter. Use egg whites instead of eggs. (Two egg whites can be substituted for a whole egg, a savings of 34 calories; 5 grams of fat, and all the cholesterol.) Use evaporated skim milk rather than whole milk and save 120 calories and 16 grams of fat per cup.

9. Use less whipped cream on top of the pie. Use 1/4 cup of the white fluff instead of 1/2 cup to get the job done.

10. Pick a light lightener. Cool down your coffee with milk instead of cream and save 36 calories and 4.5 grams of fat, ounce for ounce.

OK.. also here is the 1-1.5 pt crustless pumpkin pie....

1 15 oz. can pumpkin
3 egg whites
1 cup splenda
1 cup low fat milk (or ff evap milk)
2t pumpkin pie spice..or <1/2t cinnamon, 1/2t nutmeg, 1/8t ginger, 1/8 t allspice> play with amounts to taste...

Mix all together and bake at 425 for 20 min and 350 for 30-45 min until done.

should be about 1 pt before cool whip...
i have to have the ff cool whip! yum!!!! best to everyone!!! Kim

THANKS Kim!!! I think in my whole lifetime I've been conscious of what I've eaten at the holidays like maybe 1 time!

I bought new jeans yesterday! Been looking for awhile now for a good fit. Ends up the the only jeans that fit my large upper thighs are Tommy Hilfigers? Every other jean if it fits my waist is way to tight in the legs. I have huge legs for the rest of my body. I felt good in them...DH loved them when I got home and showed him...they are 16's.

11-18-2006, 12:50 PM
Nori that is great!!!!!!! I am so so proud of you and your accomplishments.. I am praying i will be in the 220's ....again... for next weigh in.. wed.. so hooray for you...

11-20-2006, 02:13 PM
Hey, everyone. I think it's been awhile since I've posted but I haven't been watching what I eat real well. I did sign up for an aerobics class and tonight is my first class. I dread weigh in tomorrow.

I looked into hypnosis a few years back but had to pass cause it was really expensive and my husband had doubts that it worked but he has a family member and his family members mother both had hypnosis done recently. One to quit smoking and the other to get off of drugs and they both say it works so I'm considering trying it myself but we really don't have the money for it. The guy they went to charges $200 per session and I don't know how many sessions would be expected. In the long run though, if it works it would really be worth it because I can cut back to lose weight but I really haven't changed how I eat. I still don't eat alot of what I should be eating, and the way I see it if he's willing to fork out money to have cosmetic surgery for me then surely he could fork out the money for this. I may have to wait until after tax time to do it though. Anyway, is anyone else familier with hypnosis?

11-20-2006, 03:39 PM
Hello ladies:

Serena: I don't know much about hypnosis. My mother did it maybe 25 years ago and it worked for her but she gained it all back.

Nori: Way to go on the jeans!!! I bought some Seven jeans at the Lane Bryant outlet near me and I love the fit. Although mine were still an 18

I PM'd all of you my addresss and e-mail for anyone wanting to send cards.

Well, I am officially in Onederland (lost .4) but only by the skin of my teeth and I ate so bad this weekend, I'm afraid it's not going to stick for next week (I won't even begin to write what I ate, it will only make me relive it again :o ). I dont want to teeter back and forth. Help!! I haven't been to the gym in days because DH was away, now DD is sick, I don't feel great, I have TOM very badly and I have a teacher conference tonight so maybe I'll get there tomorrow.

Kim: good luck Wednesday for your weigh in, 20's here you come!

Catherine & Nori: I got your addresses, thanks. I'll compile a list, I read that after I sent mine out.

Check in tomorrow....Mo

11-21-2006, 12:14 PM
Hello ladies:

Where is everyone? Well, unofficially I was 200.4 today, I don't know why I even got on the scale. I'm hoping I'll be back down to 199 by Monday, but it doesn't look good. I just ate a danish :?: I don't feel great and I look awful, very pale and blotchy. We made DD go to school yesterday and she came home crying because her ears still hurt. The doctor called her in a new prescription and she went to school today looking fine. At 10:15 I got a call she wanted to come home! My mom went to go get her for me. I think I'm calling in sick tomorrow. I figure between me and DD one of us will need it! Then I can get my stuffing made tomorrow afternoon and won't be rushed making it at night. I think I'll cook my small bird for home too while I'm at it.

Hopefully I'll get to the gym at some point this week. This cough is keeping me up at night and I've got circles under my eyes.

If I don't get back her for any reason this week, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!! :turkey: I'm thankful for my 3fatchicks friends!

11-22-2006, 02:06 AM
Sorry I haven't checked in. I've been working overtime this week and getting ready to go out of town tomorrow. If you can belive it I haven't weighed myself this week. I've forgotten to do it both yesterday and this morning! So, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!! I'll check back in Monday when we are home.

Woohoo, Mo got to onderland!

11-22-2006, 09:51 AM

I am looking to do a sugar free low fat cheesecake... my daughter is making a high calorie full fat one.. so I am thinking I will just make like little cheesecakes in muffin tins for me.. I am making my 1 pt pump pie for me and bought a regular one for everyone else.. boy I get a whole pie to

I will write more later got to run to the school quick..forgotten homework... bye! Kim

11-22-2006, 01:31 PM
Ok I forgive myself and everyone else who eats too much on Thanksgiving. I want to make a Pumpkin Cheesecake today, but I am going to make the pie version. It's smaller and less for me to eat. Haven't searched for a low cal one I am just going for it. It will taste good though. So how many of all of us ladies are going to get up early and go shopping. I enjoy the day after Thanksgiving, even if I do not buy anything. Unfortunately my FIL will be home, his day care is closed so there goes my plans and tradition. It would be impossible to take him with us. I am enjoying the time off, though. I may go into work for like an hour and half Friday morning and then hit some stores before I go home and my husband leavesfor work. Hoping to get the MP-3 players for the kids. Can't afford the i-pods. Want them to be a little more responsible too, before I spend that much. The kids are in that between kid and teen stage. They are super hard to buy for. Well, I am going to go for now. Maybe I will check in tomorrow. WHile I am inhaling the delicious smell of turkey. Love to all of you!

11-22-2006, 08:22 PM
Hi ladies!! The good news is I'm down from 207 to 201. Here's hoping to be back in Onederland by the end of the month! I am having trouble committing to an eating plan, and can't manage time well enough so we've eaten out more than I like.

11-23-2006, 12:44 PM
Happy Thanksgiving all!
I weighed in Tuesday and was down .4 pounds. I started my aerobics class monday and I also went wednesday my legs are so sore. Anyway, hopefully this will help me.

11-25-2006, 09:19 AM
HAPPY WEEKEND!!!! I can't believe Saturday is here already. How is everyone doing?

Hey - Self magazine did a great article on combining Yoga with calisthenics for better results. Jennifer Anniston and her trainer are featured, and they put th whole thing on their website! So if you like Yoga, check it out.

11-26-2006, 11:51 AM
well morning ladies!! How did everyone survive the four day holiday? I unfortunately indulged without restraint and now am going to have to undo the damage...again... but It could be worse.. why can I not take my own advice??? I know I can be so much more committed than this!!!!! Ok I going to be down by at least 10 pounds within the next 30 days... I must focus on that!!!!
Mo how did u do? you have been doing so great!!
Sarah... awesome job for you too woo hoo!!
Serena.. down is good!! wtg for you..yeah!!
Catherine.. Thanks for the forgiveness.. but it is most important that we forgive ourselves... and that I do.. but glad to hear you are working things out.. I too have bought a "knock off " version mp3 and video player.. as I hate to just pay for a "name".. it is coming from hong kong so I hope it is decent.. will let u know if u want... i heard really good reviews on sansa mp3 players they are really coming along and competiviely priced.. I did not get that cause I wanted more gb and storage and a mp3 /video player for under 60.00 this is an mp4 too! it is the next step.. got it for 55.00 oh well

Nori.. are you better?? I heard you were under the weather... how is your loss going?? I am up a few pounds.. boo hoo..

11-27-2006, 11:07 AM
Hello Everyone,
Congrads to all of you who lost weight during turkey day. I'm sooooo proud of all of you. WTG! I, on the other hand, lost control. I gained 2 pounds. Sniff, sniff. I gave in too peanutbutter cheesecake, it was good but not worth 2 lbs. So I now weigh, sniff, 218. So i'm back on track now, had a brain fog with cheesecake, lol. Not going to put what I ate through Thanksgiving on, there's not enough room, I totally lost control. I sent you Mo & Catherine mailing info, need to know how to send everyone my mailing info, please let me know. Still don't know how to do things yet on this site, learning, lol. Hmmm, the exercise tape, lol, you don't want to know, lol. Well, have a great day ladies and I'll check back in real soon. Bye. Best wishes to all. Teresa :)

11-27-2006, 11:10 AM
Looked at my ticker, lol. I must not have changed it when I weighed 216 pounds, I really did gain 2 pounds. Sorry for not changing it. Bye.

11-27-2006, 02:39 PM
Hello ladies:

I hope everyone had a great holiday and weekend. I have not been dieting all week and haven't gone to the gym in at least a week :o :o It was a combination of schedule, kids sick, me sick, my back out... My back got better over the weekend and I put it out again yesterday...ugh!! I really need to get back into the gym, maybe tomorrow hopefully.

Amazingly, I have kept to 199 which can only be described as a miracle. I need to stock up on frozen dinners for lunch and get myself organized.

I also bought a $49 1GB MP3 from Walmart, it was a Creative Muvo model. I finally found Designers World online for $36. I also bought DD some clothes and bed sheets which she won't care about, I'll have to have her open them first! DH ordered her some velvet art kit from QVC, other than a few small items, she's done. My kids have a ton of aunts and uncles so they always get tons of gifts from them. I told DD I'd put money toward her bedroom which desperately needs storage, shelving, etc.

DS isn't fussy, I got him Nintendo DS Lite, some sneakers, handheld sudoku and some knights on horses. I got him a few other inexpensive things so he'll have boxes to open but he needs stuff for his room too like lamps, shelves, etc.

I feel so achey today with my back, I'd love to go home early but I hate to use up my time. I only went to Kohl's on Black Friday for about an hour or so then I went to work. It was very quiet at work so I got some personal work done ;) I got a $50 coupon from Kohl's to use this week, I'll get my MIL a pair of gold earrings maybe, she's been asking for a pair. She's not shy...but I can't complain because she's 3,000 miles away !! :D :D :D

My goal this week is to just get back on track. We only have 3 days left for our November challenge :o :o :o As it stands now, I'm only at 3.2 lbs loss for the entire month :?:

Serena & Sara: Congrats on the weight loss!! It looks like I'm going to have someone joining me in Onederland soon!!!

Everyone else: Hope you're doing well and I'll do more personals tomorrow.

11-27-2006, 05:30 PM
Hey MO! I got thre same mp-3 players one in red and one in green. Don't worry about the memory. It is set up to add more memory with a card like digital cameras. I could not see spending lotsa money when the kids are still young. At least it came with it's own belt clip and arm band. Saves some money on accesories.

Hello to everyone else. Love to all of you! More personals later.

Teajay, just scroll over our names in the side bar on our posts and it will come up if you want to send a private message and just click on it!

bye bye Catherine

11-27-2006, 05:31 PM
I meant click on our name and then click private message! OOPS!

Hi ladies. I hope all is well with everyone.

My back is still really hurting and I used that as an excuse to stop and by myself a hardroll with butter on it this morning. I am so pathetic. I'm at work now sitting with a heating pad on my back/*** area. The boss is gone till about 1:30 so I'm resting up. I have to get a move on and get the kids photos done for the holiday. I'm such a procrastinator. I still haven't gotten organized food wise and I dread attempting the grocery store, I'm taking baby steps as it is. I think tonight will be either pizza or subway. I'm so still I'm almost tempted to try pilates tonight, I don't know if it will make it worse or better.

Take care and I'll chat again soon.

B: poppyseed roll = 8?
L: small soup & crackers = 4
D: potroast, potatoes, carrots = 14
S: jelly fruit candies = 6
these are wild guesses on the points, I dont have the energy to look in my book :?:
Exercise: none, water: hardly any

I know this is an awful menu post but I'm trying to get back into the habit...

11-28-2006, 12:54 PM

Happy Hump Day! I have some great news on the DEW front. Since Sunday, each day I have drank water, exercised, and eaten better. I have had ZERO fast food and ZERO candy/desserts. Here's my exercise:

Sunday - 45min-1 hour walk with family
Monday - Cardio Blast class at gym
Tuesday - Yoga class at gym

I also remembered to take my vitamin, calcium supplement, and Flaxseed Oil supplement each day.

But still no loss. In fact, I'm back up to 203. ????? Strange. But I'm feeling better, so I'm going to stick with it.

Mo- hope your back gets better soon! Great job posting the menu. :)

Kim - 20 minutes of exercise a day is a great committment!!!!

Catherine - hello! How's work going?

Teresa - WTG getting back on track! Those 2 lbs. will be history in no time!

Serena, Nori, Danielle, and Erica, come out come out wherever you are!

11-30-2006, 02:47 AM
Hi ladies! I know I've been MIA this week. We went out of town for the holidays and on the way home I got in an accident on black ice. Very scary. I avoided a head-on and instead wen tdown a 15 foot embankment. We are all ok, but I haven't been online. Or even on a scale since before T-giving. Or to the gym. I might try to do a little workout tomorrow. I'm pretty sore still.
I'm hoping I can post at least a 2 pound loss this month.

11-30-2006, 01:05 PM
Nori: Thanks goodness you're all alright. That must have been quite an encounter. I hope your holiday was well other than that.

Sarah: I'm so proud of you!! Way to go on the water and exercise. I still haven't gotten back to the gym yet because of my back. Actually yesterday it was feeling better and today it's back to hurting like it was two days ago. I did do about 5 minutes of pilates this morning to try and stretch my back muscles. I couldn't even extend my legs straight up in the air without keeping my knees slightly bent. Ouch!

Kim: I'm in a slump too, we've got to keep our heads above water and keep treading until we get psyched up again. DH made cookies last night which won't help me!

I hope everyone else is still doing well. I've got to get back on track and get ahead of the New Years Resolution folks!! I feel like I'm falling apart quickly before I hit 40. I've got to stop the deterioration! :yikes:

12-01-2006, 12:22 PM
Okay - how did everyone do for the November challenge??

My starting was 204, and I'm back to 199!! HELLO ONEDERLAND!!! I never want to leave this land again!

Sarah -5 for November, starting weight for December challenge 199

12-01-2006, 01:37 PM
Hi Sarah:

Congrats on the weight loss and Onederland, we're tie!!!

I was at 3.2 loss for the entire month of November.....not very good considering I worked my buns off in the gym. Oh well, I'm starting to feel a bit better with my back so hopefully this weekend I'll start back at the gym and get back on track with WW.

Have a great weekend. My house looks like a bomb went off inside it so this weekend I'll be cleaning as much as my back/hip allow. I think I'll take a pain killer before I leave work so I'll be able to get some stuff done!

Talk to you all soon, I'll try to check in over the weekend.

12-02-2006, 11:12 AM
Nori: Wow I bet that was extremely scary. Even more so if the kids were with you.

I didn't do so well for the NOvember challenge. I lost about 2 pounds. At weigh in this past week I gained 2 pounds. I'm managing a little bit better this week. The holiday food hasn't been a problem for me. I'm just snacking too much. I ate one of those little captain john derst apple pies yesterday. 11 points for that little sucker. I regreted it afterwords but I counted every point. I hope everyone else is doing well. The christmas food may be a problem for me. I'm planning my husbands family party at my house and I keep thinking of stuff I want to make just because it really only gets made once a year.

12-02-2006, 01:40 PM
Nori - I'm so glad everyone is okay from the wreck.

Come on, everyone else it's time to check in and let us know what's new!

12-04-2006, 02:37 PM
Hello ladies:

Someone has to come slap me. I need to get back on a diet and to the gym. HELP!!!!

12-05-2006, 08:22 AM
Mo - SMACK! That was me smacking you to get back to the gym on and track eating. Now smack me back!!!!!! I've been totally lazy this week!

12-05-2006, 03:05 PM
Hello All
Well, I never lost any in Nov. instead gained 2 lbs. OUCH. Hope to do better in this Dec. month. Holidays are so hard for me. Extra cooking and company, so wish me luck.

Nora, glad you and your family are okay.
Sarah, congrads on weight loss, WTG.
Mo, WTG on not gaining like I did. WTG on weight loss. You'll get back into it, think of a size 10, laugh, better use that myself. Tape didn't work out, going to have to start smaller since I haven't exercised in many years, laugh. Need a granny tape for my speed. I'm a grandma, I feel like grandma got ran over by a reindeer, after the tape.
Catherine, thanks for info, hope you are doing better in fighting the weight than I am.
Serna, best of luck on weight challenge. Hang in there, we'll make it.
Kim, think I'll try counting calories to see if I can do better as well. Trying to figure out a (ease into it) exercising plan, tips appreciated. I'm so out of shape.
Everyone best wishes for speedy weight loss & lots of energy. Everyone have a great week, I'll check back in on Monday to let you know how I've done and to see how everyone did. Teresa :)

12-06-2006, 12:55 PM
Hi ladies:

Sarah: thanks I needed that! I did go to the gym the last two nights but I can do only about a 1/3 of what I was doing. If I go over 3 mph on the treadmill I get a pulling pain from my butt to behind my left knee. I did 1.5 miles both nights. I haven't been completely dieting but I've been good about half of each day...that's a start! DH asking me last night if I wanted a "goodie" while we were watching TV isn't good. He was out of milkduds thank God!!

B: buttered hard roll
L: lean cuisine, 2 clementines then vending bag of Famous Amos PB cookies:o
D: a few pieces of burnt popcorn chicken, couple of fries then resorted to a peanut butter and fluff sandwich :dizzy: (DH cooked while I was at the gym!)
oh yeah, I did shovel in one cookie before bed.

It's not a great start, but it's a start. The sad thing is I've been buying baking ingredients and am gearing up to make cookies :fr:

I hope everyone is doing well. I think I gained 1.6 lbs but I won't post it till Monday if it's still there.

Teresa: don't worry about the exercise tape, try another. I bought The Firm some months back and couldn't even do it for 5 minutes. I later bought a Denise Austen walking DVD and it was doable...if you get out of breath you just march in place till you're ready again. I can hardly do my pilates. It helps my back so much but the last two nights I tried to do a couple of minutes stretching on it before I went to the gym and my left knee won't even straighten out all the way, it was trembling while up in the strap. Oh well, baby steps.

Kim: how's the exercise going? I'm going to try to watch the Biggest Loser tonight. My mom is watching the kids for me tonight and I'll try to finish most of my Christmas shopping. I'm trying to prepare myself with a list...normally I wander around and buy stuff I don't need.

Talk to you ladies tomorrow.

12-06-2006, 03:11 PM
Well I lost 2.4 this week. Yay.

But on a different note. Is anyone else dreading the holiday food? Well, I checked out the Splenda web sight and they have lots of recipes that might at least help try to keep our holiday menues on the good side.

12-07-2006, 12:11 PM
Hi Everyone!

Teresa - I really really recommend the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds. There's a set that has the 1 mile, 2 mile and 3 mile walk, so that way you can start easy, and build your way up! It's exactly what I used to get back into exercising after the baby was born.

Serena - WTG on the loss!! WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!

Mo - eating good for half the day totally counts, because it's a great start! I'm a big believer in baby steps. Even just getting all your water in a day is a big accomplishment, and your body thanks you! LOL-you're brave to make baked goods. Not because of the temptation, but I admire that you can cook!! Every Christmas my 5 year old and I make sugar cookies. LOL-sometimes they're edible....

Kim-good luck with your entertaining!!!! :)

Nori, Danielle, Erica, Catherine - hello!!! Can't wait to hear from you!

My big news for the day - I joined the gym! It's official! I was using the guest pass, and it was time to make a committment or stop going. Surely paying that stupid monthly fee will be a total motivation to get my butt in there. LOL

anyways... hey sarah!!! wtg with your gym committment! I have to get closer to 180 b4 i will shake my butt at a gym.. but i will join.. i will lose at least 30-40 at home first! then my reward will be that and a new wardrobe!

Mo.. how is all with your world today??? how is your room turning out.. mine looks pretty good... wow it is soooo cold and windy here today... batten down the hatches...

Nori.. how is everything?? work?? kids... :)

catherine.. how is your homefront and december treating you??
danielle.. where are you??
TJ... yes you will like leslie sansone.. I usually do her 2 mile video.. if you do her video starting 3x's you WILL tone up and lose!

hello ladies, I apologize for not checking in! Things have been crazy here at school. I am trying to get stuff together for Christmas. I am going to help take care of my mom nest week. I am not sure how that trip will go. SHe fell again and broke her wrist this time, she will need pins put in. As her liver failure gets worse so will her osteoporosis. She can cough and crack a rib. That is how fragile she is! Anyways all is going well. I will finish reading up on everything later. I have lost more weight!! Not sure what I am doing, but it is going down slowly. I will take it!

12-09-2006, 12:45 PM
Congrats catherine!! sorry to hear about your mom and the added stress this time of year...

well my scale said 229.5 this am!!! i was ready to do a flip!!! so now i have to go eat my oatmeal and do some exercise.. I am soo psyched .. yeah 20's!!!!! now lookin for those low 20's.. then teens.. woo hoo!!!

ok i took a little break.. I danced to music and did leg lifts and kick backs and leg lifts and some squats for 15 min and will do about 10 min more later this evening... that's my exercise for today.. i do it to fast songs like shania twain or kelly clarkson.. or numa numa.. anything that sounds boppy...

I am making it a must to keep grapes, apples, broccoli, cucs, peppers and bananas in stock.. for quick grabs and I am snacking on a few 4-8 of almonds.. they are 6 cal each... and help sustain you... pizza is i think a trouble food for me causes it triggers the wanting more than i need mode..

so looking for more posts to yell back to!! i am moving my ticker after this post!

12-09-2006, 04:43 PM
WAHOOOOOOOOOOO SLIMKIM!!!!!!!! Amazing! You'll have to change your screen name to SuperSlimKim soon!!!! Have you read SuperFood Rx yet? It recommends all the foods you're eating to help be healthier! It's a great book at explaining what foods do what for your body. I enjoyed it alot.

Catherine - your poor mom. Good luck with everything.

12-10-2006, 11:51 PM
Hey Sarah!! Thanks..:D yes I have read thru briefly the super foods book(I own it) but i will re read just to reinvent myself a little more.. never thought of things that way That you could invent yourself.. you don't have to keep on going the same ol way.. now I know I carry on some no no areas.. like remember i mentioned about pizza.. for me?? well that night i had guessed it.. pizza!!! It was the size of a tomestone and I had 4.5 slices!!! :o even tho my cal for day says I was under.. all that dough reeks havoc on me... and sodium.. it made me retain water... so scales were up next day.... so today i had salad all day..yogurt, fruit, jello... I had nutri grain waffles and eggs for dinner... we'll see later in the week how I do.. I want to continue losing alot .. it boosts me up but i know it is unrealistic for long.. well gotta run!! bye..Kim :smug:

Hi ladies. I know I haven't logged on in days and when more and more days go by and I get more behind then I just avoid coming around. I am embarrased. I am really busy in general these days, and also, I'm not doing what it takes to lose the weight. I just don't have that magic right now. I am NOT gaining. So that is a very, very good thing. I did lose 2 pounds during November, but was back to the start weight by December 1. I'm no where ready to be maintaining. I am good for 4-5 days out of the week and then just let up for the other 2-3. It's not good. I need to come around regularly so I stay encouraged. I am still exercising. My back is messed up from my little accident and I'm very uncomfortable almost all the time, but I've started up my regular exercising. PLEASE DON'T KICK ME OUT. I want and need my mojo back. It's up to me. I'm so good once there's that almost audible "click" I hear...I'm jsut not hearing it. I guess this is were the determination has to carry me though. I will not gain the weight I have lost back. WILL NOT.

Sorry for the me post. Got to go to work now. Just needed to check in and feel accountable to you great ladies.

12-11-2006, 06:36 PM
Rather that is boo hoo humbug! I have been at the verge of tears or bawling for the last few days. I have no desire to decorate, put up the tree or anything. I am kind of looking forward to seeing my mom, but at the same time dreading it. If any of you listen to country music Joe NIchol's new song" I'll wait for you" has me in tears everytime. Makes me think of my mom and dad. My dad is on the road a lot, tries not to be and here is my mom at home dying. It is a killer. My MIL is only coming in town for one day and not even coming to see us. We will see her for a short time though. It just aggravates the heck out of me. We always seem to be the last on her list. And my husband is her only son.

Anyways, I did lose another pound, I do not post them until I keep it off for a week. My weight is even going down with that TOM. Still not sure what I am doing. I guess this was a me post, too. I will really sound off to my counseler tomorrow. That is is I open up, sometimes I don't.

Well, I gotta go!

Mo, I love the pic!!!!

12-11-2006, 06:49 PM
JUst wanted to let yall know. I tried the splenda peanut butter recipe. I'ts pretty good. It deffinately isn't like the full flavored peanut butter cookie but it is still pretty good.

12-12-2006, 11:14 AM
Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Nori - kick you out? Are you crazy? You've always been such a motivator with sound advice, you have to stay! Your mojo will come back, don't worry.

Catherine - congrats on the loss!!! I hope your holidays get better.

SlimKim-gret job staying within your calories!!!! That's awesome!! Do you track your calories online?

Serena - yum! They sound good! I hope you and your boys are having a nice holiday.

12-12-2006, 05:01 PM
Hello to All,

Good job on the weight losses. Way to go. I'm still 218 lbs. Going to drop calories down a couple of hundred to see if that helps me loose more. I and a friend went Christmas shopping and walked a lot. Have been so busy with Christmas but will try and do better with the exercises, thanks for the tips, I'll get better motivated, I promise. All of your ecouragment has sure helped. Thank you so much. I appreciate that. Keep up the good work ladies, have a great rewarding week. Bye for now. Off for a class and later work. Bye for now. Teresa :)

12-13-2006, 03:50 PM
Teresa & Nori - hello! Nori, just like you, I haven't sent my cards either. Teresa, good luck with the new calorie intake!!!

My good news - I went to the gym this morning! I did 2.25 miles on the elliptical, and then 5 minutes on the rowing machine. :) Then I spent a little time in the sauna.

My bad news - for lunch I had a burger, fries, a coke, and a frosty. :(

12-15-2006, 09:12 AM
Happy Friday everyone! Hope all is well...

12-15-2006, 01:52 PM
I see I"m not the only procrastinater. I figured up a good quick method for sending out christmas cards. My list is already saved in the computer on labels and I just print the labels when I"m ready. I use the american greetings websight and pick out a card. Then I go ahead and personalize them and put our names on it then I just print them up, put them in envelopes. THen they are done.

Well, I missed aerobics monday but made it wednesday but I've been eating like there's no tomorrow. My boys had they're preschool christmas party today and brought home a bunch of candy. Of course I've already sampled some for them.

I tried the splenda chocolate chip recipe and it turned out really good.

I hope everyone is doing well.

12-16-2006, 12:53 PM

Kim: Yes it's on the splenda websight. I believe they have a few different versions to chose from plus a lot of other recipes.

12-18-2006, 10:56 AM
Hi Serena and Kim! Great to hear from you both! Serena - way to go making a healthy recipe and getting to your aerobics class! Kim - good luck kicking that chest cold!!!!

My best tip for the holidays (and any party time):

Before any party/gathering/large meal, always have a low fat healthy snack about 30 minutes before you go. You'll be amazed at how much less you eat and how less tempting the sweets are!

12-20-2006, 10:58 AM
Hello ladies:

So sorry I haven't been around, just a very busy time of the year. I've been bad and haven't gone to the gym and eating poorly. At this point I'm thinking I might as well wait till after the holidays :(

Thanks for the Christmas cards!! When I receive photocards from my friends I sometimes cannot guess who their kids are they change so much from year to year.

DH has a friend who left his wife (high school sweethearts) for a 20 year old (who herself had just gotten married less than a year ago...she was cheating on her fiancee!). Anyway he FINALLY told his wife and they got separated and he left her and his 3 kids about a month or so ago. His wife sent out their Christmas cards and left his name off, I'm so glad she did that. This guy had an ego the size of I don't know what. He had it all and dumped it for a floozy who I hope in turn cheats on him...he's about 20 years older than her. We happened to be in NYC this past Saturday and he wanted us to meet him and her for lunch, I told my husband there was no way I was going to see him and meet her. I don't really know his wife but I feel so bad for her. Men can be such dicks.

Anyway, I hope everyone is ready for the holidays. We're having my family over Christmas Eve and going to my Mom's for Christmas Day. We're also going to a Hannukah party on Friday night. I have to find time to do my grocery shopping and cooking!! Presents are all bought and wrapped thanks to the USPS and UPS.

Talk to you all soon.

Hi ladies:

I hope to start posting daily again. Sorry I haven't been around much, it appears the holidays and sickness has taken it's toll on everyone.

I'll check in tomorrow from work and hopefully see you all around soon. It's just one day at a time I guess. Tomorrow, I will try to go to the gym, even if it's just for a little while. I hurt my ankle a few days ago by dropping a big box with a bed in it from ikea. It's been very sore and swollen. I'll probably just do the treadmill tomorrow to start steps. I'm afraid to approach the scale.

Talk to you all soon, hope everyone is well.

01-02-2007, 02:25 AM
I haven't been on either. Or on my scale. Ugg. Anyways, tomorrow I start working full time for the first time in 3+ years! I'm struggling a little with this. I am excited to be making $$, but then the whole not being at home with my girls "guilt" talks some too. We have to do this right now though. Have to. I think the structure will be good for my diet plans also. Food is much more of an issue for me at home.

Sorry about your injury, Mo.

Are you better now Kim?

Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas! Cheers for 2007 being the best year yet!

01-02-2007, 10:49 AM
Hi Nori: Good luck on the full time job. There's pros and cons with working vs. staying at home, just focus on the pros. I think I gained about 4 or 5 lbs back out of the 11 or so that I had lost in Oct/Nov. I found my WW books under my desk today and hadn't made a journal entry of my foods since November 17th! It's so true that writing things down keeps you honest, the second I stopped writing, I had not accountability for my food, water or exercise. Oh, I was on last week and was reading some reviews of a recipe and I saw your login name! I forgot what it was now...cookies maybe??

My goals for this week are to get back to the gym, rid the house of junk food and do a good grocery shopping and plan some decent meals. I'm certainly not being a good role model for my kids.

I hope everyone joins us back here for the New Year. Hope to see you all soon. I'll start posting my menus tomorrow after I see what I consume today!

Let's re-group and start by sharing some recipes. Here's one that sounded good to me:

Southern Oven-Fried Chicken

1/2 c. fat-free buttermilk
2-3 drops of hot red pepper sauce
1/2 cup crushed cornflakes
3 tbs. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 pounds of chicken parts skinned
4 tsp. canola oil

400 degrees on large sprayed baking sheet. Mix buttermilk and hot sauce, combined dried ingredients on wax paper. Dip in milk, then roll in crumb mixture coating completely. Drizzle with oil and bake 30 minutes, turn over and bake another 15-20 minutes until cooked through.

If you're on WW, it says a serving is 5.5 pts. and it makes 4 servings.

I might try this with chicken tenders. Also if you don't have buttermilk, use 1/2 cup of skim milk and add 1 tsp of vinegar to it as a substitute.

Hi Ladies:

I didn't do so well yesterday but it was better than I had been eating!

B: oatmeal & tea (4)
L: shredded wheat (8)
S: 2 candy canes (2)
D: chicken, cranberry, then macaroni & cheese off daughters plate and a piece of my sons cornbread (couldn't keep my hands to my self), plus I had a few handfuls of popcorn when I first got home. (15)

Then I went to the gym and walked only a mile because my friend wanted to go and my ankle was a little sore. When I got home I had tea and about 6 milkduds (2)?! Like I said, better than I had been eating...I guessed at most of the points but I'm sure I was over 30 points for the day.

The gym was so crowded we could hardly find a treadmill. Tonight I have to put together and organize some furniture we moved from upstairs to downstairs in my sunroom. I inherited my daughters daybed. Not what I really wanted, but better than nothing out there I guess. Between the sunroom and all the laundry I have to put away, it should keep me busy enough to skip the gym.

If I stick to it, I'll be having Special K for breakfast, an orange for snack, Healthy Choice dinner for lunch, and a big salad with some rotisserie chicken on top. I have to buy myself some Skinny Cows, they were my savior for my sweet tooth cravings in October/November.

Hope all is well with everyone, looking forward to hearing from you soon.

01-03-2007, 10:30 AM

I'll be done with the family & friend visits on Sunday, so I plan to start posting again regularly on Monday.

01-03-2007, 05:30 PM
HEy, everyone! I went and weighed in last night. I gained 1.4 pounds over the last 2 weeks. Not good but better than I thought. I thought surely I had gained most of my weight back. Anyway, I've decided to try hypnotherapy. I have my first appointment next week. I spoke to the therapist and he said he does it a little differently from most therapist cause most of them try to tell you what to eat and stuff. He said he tries to get to the cause of over eating and start from there. I'm a little nervous about the whole thing. I think I'm mostly nervous about spending that kind of money on something that I'm not sure will work but I keep telling myself if I keep going at the pace I'm going I'm gonna end up spending that much on WW anyway so what does it matter. I guess I'm to the point of desperation. Anyway, I hope everyone had a great holiday.

01-04-2007, 03:18 PM
Hi ladies:

I still am not doing well. I start out good but then fail by the end of the day.

B: cereal
L: Healthy Choice dinner
S: 1 1/2 candy cane
D: chicken, cranberry, 1/2 baked potato w/ sour cream and butter :o
S: package of jelly candies, few milk duds

Today isn't good either. B: cereal S: sugar coated nuts L: salad w/ chicken & feta cheese but then the big downer, a caramel & M&M coated apple....who knows what else I'll do wrong by nightfall!

I'm going to get my hair highlighted tonight and don't feel like going. I've been so congested the last few days. My nose is so red from blowing and wiping it.

No gym yesterday either but I did move the bureau, chest and day bed into the sunroom and vacuumed an old vintage handbraided rug I bought last year for about a 1/2 hour. I need to get a gate to keep the dog out of the room. She christens any rug she can get to that's why I have no rugs in my house. This room is mine and she's not getting in!

01-04-2007, 10:54 PM
well hi mo, serena, nori, sarah tj catherine, danielle and everybody else i missed.. sorry i have been MIA.. I have gained the avg they say at holiday time.. 5 lbs!!!! I did not take my own advice.. i feel like a beached whale! what a difference even 5 lbs makes! phew..... granted it is end of my TOM so a couple is water weight..gonna take a water pill tomorrow..

mo.. not surprized about the crowded gym after the first! sorry to hear you are struggling but no real gains i see....good for you...

serena you didn't do too bad either.. good for you.. let me know how you make out with that hynotherapy....

I have not reviewed the past weeks posts i will tomorrow.. I have had the worst head and chest cold.. it went away for two days and I am getting it back again.. it sucks!

I am applying at our school district for a part time position... it is in food preparation but I need to work around the kids hours.. and summers off.. It is not my choice position but it is a start.. I need to pay off my growing credit card b4 DH finds out how much it really is..LOL

well talk more later..Kim

01-05-2007, 04:54 PM
Hi Kim: Glad to see you around. My sister got a job in her local school cafeteria too for some extra money and for the schedule to match her daughters. Her feet and legs took some time to adjust to all the standing but I think she likes it and you can't beat having summers off. She's not too far from you, she's in Villas, NJ, just outside of Cape May.

I didn't eat well today either because it was our Christmas party at work. I didn't eat till I was stuffed, but I didn't hold back at the dessert table :o

I'm either coming down with a cold or what I actually think is my allergies are very bad...first year having them but I've been congested for days and I'm so tired of breathing in and out of my mouth. My nose is so sore and red from blowing/wiping it, I'm going home and latering it with vaseline!

It's rainy here today but fortunately I cleaned up a bit last night and did vacuuming, laundry, cooking for tonight, etc so I think I'll be grabbing a blankey and the remote by 8 p.m.! I was up last night watching Ronin till 1 a.m. then started watching Taxi Driver. Of course I overslept again till 8 a.m. and had to drive the kids to school late again. I need a curfew!

Have a great weekend if I don't talk to you again.

01-07-2007, 01:17 AM
Kim - I also gained about 5 pounds over the holidays. I didn't get to the gym for about 3 weeks and doing my pilates at home doesn't cut it as far as burning calories. GL with the job! I hear you sister...about the credit cards...

Mo- hope you're not getting sick.

I started working full time last Tuesday and am still adjusting to that. I haven't worked outside of the home for 3+ years now.

I have been bad about logging on every day. For some reason I CANNOT log onto 3FC from work. All that comes up is the purple "frame" and headings. I cannot get into the boards. SOmething to do with the pop-up program or something else the IS guys have done to the whole system. I'll do my best to check in each night.

01-08-2007, 02:12 PM
Hi Everyone,
Sorry that I never got to send Christmas cards or post, I was down sick with a virus for over a week. So belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. We had a nice Christmas other than sickness. Hope all of you had a nice one as well. Wtg on all your weight losses. I now weigh 216 lbs. I am now on a 1400 calorie intake a day and getting plenty of exercises. I went to work at a nursing home and it is non stop work. I work a lot of hours a week due to being short of help. Didn't get to read my private messages but will try to catch up and keep up as much as possible. Everyone have a great week. Bye for now. Teresa :)

01-08-2007, 04:49 PM
Hello ladies:

How's everyone doing? I still haven't gotten on this diet 100% and my friend put her back out again so the gym won't be a consideration for a few days at least. OK with me because it's too darned crowded. It's so overcrowded they should have limited the number of people they can enroll. Oh well, maybe I'll start my walking DVD again or do some pilates. I've not felt well either. I've been SO congested for about a week now. I figured it was just allergies because it's mainly just congestion but today I've started to develop a cough as well. My boss came in sick today too. Must be germs everwhere!

DD said some guy about 20 was at a neighbor's house Friday on her way home and he invited her and her girlfriend "in for some candy". They of course said no and ran home. After making several calls I found out that this young guy is 20 years old and is at the house because his girlfriend's mom is a R.N. and was contracted to watch the old woman who lived there. I guess the girlfriend is bring her weirdo boyfriend around and I also found out he had been involved in a fight and got stabbed not long ago. I got the police involved and they said he admitted saying it, he was just "trying to be funny" and supposedly he won't be allowed in that house again. I'll have to monitor the house to see if he shows up anymore. He doesn't drive but was getting there in his girlfriends car. Next door to them is an ex-detective and his wife so she's keeping an eye out for him also because she's home all day.

Talk to you all soon.

01-09-2007, 10:54 AM
Mo: Don't worry about the over crouded gym. IT's the New Years resolution. Give it a few weeks it will be back to normal. The instructor for the aerobics class that I take said the first week in january the class is so crouded there's barely enough room to move but after the first week or 2 it's back to the regulars.

Well, I had my first hypnotherapy session last night. It went pretty good I think. The main focus was the sugar. So far I haven't had a craving for sugar. However, I don't really know what to eat cause I'm still not eager to eat fruits and vegetables.

01-09-2007, 11:22 PM
VERY weird about that 20 year old??? Good that the girls didn't take him up on that.

Cool about the hypnotherapy working right away! Maybe I need to try that!

My gym isn't crazy like last year. I haven't had to wait for a machine! Last year they were advertising specials and having joining fees waived, but I think they are pretty much filled up to a nice capacity usually, so no need to advertise. Regulars woudl have gotten pissed off I think.

I'm still not back to counting every calorie either. I'm ballparking it while I'm at work - you know how much you take with you in the morning - and then not eating anything else off plan. And I'm sticking with exercise everyday. I'm not doing cardio everyday though. 2 days a week I'm jsut doing pilates.

Hi ladies:

I'm still struggling getting back on track, hopefully posting here will keep it fresh in my mind. My friend put her back out again and I've been a little sick. I did have an ear infection and now I'm on antibiotics so hopefully by Monday I'll be ready to hit the gym again. I'm looking forward to the long weekend. I'm off to try and find a cheap flight to Vegas for my trip in March. Talk to you all soon.

Serena: How's WWs going? I saw their ad that says people who attend the meetings lose 3 times more weight. I wish I had one closer to me. Hope your weigh in went well and the hypnotism is working.

Where are all our other ladies? Check in soon.

Well, here I am, barely. Laugh, my butt is tired due to work, work. I've been out of the work force for 3 yrs. & whew, hard labor. I now weigh 215 lbs. But will wait till this following Monday to see if I can change the ticker cause I had (pizza 2 pcs.) at work last night. Got to quit that or the lbs. will jump back. Was doing so good until last night by following a 1400 calorie food plan. That pizza smelled & looked so good. Regret eating it now.:( Still fighting a cold here too. The weather is so crazy here. Well, everyone take care & have a great week. Till next Monday, bye, got to go to work. Ugh, laugh. Chat later. Still haven't caught up on private messages, sorry. Off work Thurs. will try to catch them then.
Bye:) Teresa

Hello ladies:

My hubby decided to go on a diet with me. We're going to try the WW plan again. DH gained about 25 lbs since the summer and he's disgusted that he can't get on his pants. Now I'll have the benefit of him helping me cook and the benefit of not watching him eat a box of milk duds every night!

My friend still isnt' at the gym because of her back. I'm not 100% with this cold/congestion but I'm good enough to get back to the gym on my own but I haven't. I might try to go by myself tonight. I have an old but good quality treadmill in the basement with tons of junk piled on it. I might try to coax DH to get a friend to bring it up to my bedroom then at least if I don't go to the gym by myself I can walk and do pilates at home.

Teresa: God Bless You for working at a nursing home. It takes a special person. Just getting back to work will be great exercise.

Nori: how's the new job and the exercise going?

My goals for this week: get battery for my pedometer, get to the gym or walk at home, stick to my points, drink more water and think more about quitting smoking.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Hi ladies:

How is everyone? Serena: did your weigh in go well? How's the hypno working?

Nori: how's the job and the family adjusting?

Teresa: two pieces of pizza isn't bad, at least you didn't eat 4 or 5!!

Kim: I re-re-committed too, I hope! What did you name your kitten?

Sarah: Come on out and play, that family must be gone by now!!

I hope everyone else out there comes back. Cathy: I hope things are ok with you and your family.

Yesterday: B: cereal, L: Lean cuisine, fresh fruit, granola, S: handful of reese's pieces:o , D: chicken, mashed turnips and another granola bar before bed, then woke @ 3:15 by the dog to go outside and I ate 3 PB crackers!

Talk to you all soon.

01-17-2007, 11:17 AM
Oh yeah, by the weigh I'm up to 206!!!! I hope to get back into the 190's by the first week of March or so. 9 Weeks to Vegas, I could possibly lose 20 lbs by then couldn't I??? This would entail diet and exercise...what a new concept!!

01-17-2007, 11:18 AM
By the Weigh was a freudian slip and I meant by the beginning of February for the 190's. My mind isn't all here today sorry....

01-18-2007, 01:11 AM
well evening all... my weight is moving on down.. yeah! I weighed in today at 232.. so for me that is down 4 lbs from last wed.. woo hoo.. sticking to a 1400 cal diet for now.. lots of whole food .. not much processed.. more fruits and veggies.. hmmm where have I heard that b4??? haha

so glad everyone is getting it togehter.. looks like most of us had a slight pit stop on our way Downhill.. we probably needed gas.. lol..

Mo.. good for u recommitting.. and I am there with you with the upped ticker.. i refused to move it this time knowing i will be there again.. so 220's here I caome next week..

Nori.. hi.. hope you are doing better.. how is everything...

Serena.. how is your corne of the woods??? how is all??

I named our kitty ..Molly.. she is soooo sweet! I love her to pieces already and she loves me already too! well i gotta run,.more later..Kim

Hello ladies:

Not very good yesterday:

B: Special K (good start)
L: Lean Cuisine, granola bar (sensible)
S: brownie when I left work (stressed out)
D: rest of raviolis kids didn't eat and 2 slices of garlic toast (bad planning)
S: popcorn while watching American Idol and then candy DH offered me (no willpower)

As you can see the problem is probably that I'm not counting points and still haven't gotten my rump into the gym. I can't seem to find any excuses either!

Kim: Our dogs name is Molly, I love that name.

DH is at home sick. The only exercise I got last night was doing a little laundry. Other than picking up DD at dancing at 5:30 I have nothing planned for tonight. I don't know if I'll have the energy or nerve to go to the gym by myself??????? We'll see.

Serena: I saw I had an e-mail from Dr. Weil's website (I get them daily). Today's is on hypnosis for losing weight...I'm going to read it now.

Hello ladies:

I'm still trying to get in the full swing of things. I haven't been really bad but haven't been in line completely either. Still haven't gotten to the gym, but I did do pilates yesterday morning. I'm going to try to get to the gym tonight, if not definitely tomorrow!

I hope everyone had a good weekend and is staying away from all these bugs that are going around.

Where is everyone?

01-22-2007, 10:40 PM
Hello Everyone,
I'm still weighing in at 215. My hubby wanted peanutbutter fudge so I fixed him some & i ate 2 pcs. I got to quit this cheating. I've been into the sweets at least 1 or 2 days a week. If I'd leave the sweets alone, I know I'd loose more. My hubby ALWAYS wants something sweet made. Went to my doc appointment 2 days ago, ugh, she wants me to walk a 1 1/2 miles a day, guess I'll have to get me a treadmill due to the snow & coldness here. She wants me to loose 45 lbs. She really put the heat on me, laugh. I go back in a month & she wants to see a loss. Oh boy. Hate that when someone else is in control of weighing me & looking, laugh, maybe it will help me more. Congrads on all the ones loosing weight and best wishes to all of us trying to get there. I keep thinking, got to be smaller by swim suit time. Laugh, I want to go to the beach again & look better this year in a swim suit. Spring is just around the corner. Come on ladies we can do this. Welcome Bonnie. Everyone lets watch those numbers go down down on those scales. I so want to be under 200. Sweets be gone and under 200 on the way to come. Let's do it!!!!!! Everyone hang tough. Have a great week. Bye, Teresa :)

01-23-2007, 11:47 AM
Hi Teresa, Bonnie & Mo!!

Bonnie - I love WATP. Enjoy!!!
Teresa - lol - pressure like that usually works pretty good. LOL I hate knowing someone else will see my scale.
Mo- you and I definitely need some time away!!! We could focus on ourselves and get back on track!

Speaking of being accountable, let me tell a story. One of my best friends was pretty heavy. She lost about 90 pounds and has kept it off for years now. I'm sad - because if I'd have stuck with things from the beginning, that would be me!!! I could say "I'm maintaining..." instead, I'm heavier now than when she started. So I'm going to set up a webpage at ***********.com so she can watch my progress. I'm hoping I'll exercise more, eat better, and drink more water knowing someone is watching the little details.

Nori, Catherine, Serena, Kim and anyone else I missed, come out come out!!

01-23-2007, 03:53 PM
Hey how is things all going for everyone???? well for me I ahve a little set back. I went to the doctor the other day and found out I have Cubital Tunnel Syndrome... Then I have Tendonitis and Arthritis in my right knee. So I have to take it easy. I hope to get back in and keep moving I have to do something here it is driving me crazy...

Ulnar Neuritis at the Elbow (Cubital Tunnel Syndrome)
Irritation or impingement of the ulnar nerve at the elbow (cubital tunnel syndrome) can occur from activities in which repetitive elbow flexion and extension is performed or when the elbow is held in a bent position for long periods of time. The ulnar nerve supplies sensation to the ring and small finger as well as supplies muscles of the forearm and hand. Symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome include numbness or tingling of the small and ring fingers, weakness of grip and pinch, and pain at the medial (inside) aspect of the elbow.
Initial treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome involves forearm flexor and extensor stretching exercises, night splinting of the elbow in an extended (near straight) position and avoidance of pressure on the nerve that runs at the medial (inside) aspect of the elbow. If symptoms persist despite these forms of conservative treatment, surgical release of the nerve may be performed.

Catch you all later...

01-23-2007, 03:55 PM
Hey, hope everyone is having a losing day.

Anyway, I've actually tried posting several times in the past week but every time I hit the submit button it says I'm not signed in and then loses everything that I typed so hopefully that won't happen this time but just in case I'm not gonna type a lot like I did the last few times. I've only lost about 1 pound the last 2 weeks but that's better than gaining. I have another hypnosis session tonight. I'll try to check back in later.

01-24-2007, 01:00 PM
Hey Bonnie - good luck - I have carpal tunnel syndrome, which is in the wrists. No fun, I know.

Serena - great to hear from you! What's the hypnosis like? Relaxing? Do you find yourself craving less? How are all your boys?

GGGGRRRRRRR - stupid post blocked my website address. If anyone wants to see my weight page/blog I've set up at another site, let me know and I'll send you a link!!!

01-26-2007, 03:07 PM
Hi ladies:

Sorry I haven't check in much this week either.

Bonnie: sorry to hear about your ailments, hope there's a good treatment for you.

Sarah: send me your link in an IM if you can.

Teresa: did you end up getting a treadmill? I want my DH to bring mine up from the cellar but he says it's heavy and noisy and isn't sure if it works. Sometimes the doctor can scare you into getting healthy. I have a sweet tooth also!

I made choc chip cookies last night because DS is having friends over after school today (no that's a lie...I wanted them) :o

Nori: I hope work is going well.
Serena: congrats on the loss!!!
Catherine: Where are you girl???? What's new?
Kim: yesterday I wore 18s that used to be really baggy on me about two years ago (I almost threw them out)...yesterday they barely buttoned :?:

I haven't seen danielle on here in ages, maybe she'll come back for a visit.

Have a great weekend and those of you in the cold, try to stay warm....brrrr it's cold out today.

01-28-2007, 05:04 PM
Well, it's not working quite as well as I hoped but like the man said, some people need all ten sessions of hypnotherapy. I have had an easier time not eating sugar and snacking. My mother bought krispy kreme donuts the other day and normally I would have eaten half the box but I've managed to avoid them. The actual session is fairly relaxing. But my mind goes a mile a minute anyway so I have a hard time relaxing no matter what I"m doing. Our 10th anniversary is in May and I'd like to go to the bed n breadfast place that we honey mooned at but I doubt I'd be able to relax leaving my boys behind anyway so I doubt we'll go. My middle son has been having a really hard time with his breathing the past few days, and a few days ago I noticed a knot at the base of his scull that hadn't been there before, and I think I noticed that it got bigger when he got upset the other day. So my nerves are shot, but he has a doctors appointment this week so hopefully we'll be able to figure out what's going on with him. Anyway, I hope everyone else has had a good week.
