I love when you do a poll! Thanks!!!
Southern California--warm and sunny and warm and sunny! Actually, it is starting to cool down--lows in the mid 60's which is REALLY cold for us desert rats! I think the highs are in the low 90's. That might sound a bit hot for some of you, but let me tell you, 90 is heaven compared to the summer temps of 120!
10-11-2006, 06:03 AM
Sunny and warm here in Fl. A little less humid than normal.
Gayle-I've been so busy at school and when I'm at home, I'm trying to get back into running again. I haven't been on the computer as much.
Actually, it's getting late and I need to fly! I am thinking about not going in as early anymore. Not sure yet. Anyway, we are going out after school for a co-worker's bday today. Going Mexican. I'm sure it won't be WW friendly, but I'll give it a try anyway.
10-11-2006, 07:08 AM
I love the polls too! It is chilly here, but I love winter so I love this weather! I love cuddling up in warm sweaters and sweatshirts!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!
10-11-2006, 09:26 AM
The last few days we have had perfect fall weather...sunny and warm, but today the rain is supposed to start and they are even calling for some snow tomorrow night!
Aunt Hazel is doing better, but will be in the hospital a couple more days. I'm thankful that they aren't going to rush to discharge her. I was so afraid that they would try to send her home while she was still short of breath, but sounds like that won't be the case. I hate that she's still not feeling well enough to go home, but at the same time I'm thankful for the break so I can be at home and catch up on some things around here too.
I checked the scales this morning and I'm up a bit to 146, so I guess I haven't done too much damage with the hospital food and fast food.
10-11-2006, 11:45 AM
DD is starting to look at colleges (she's a junior in high school). This morning, driving to school, the temp was cool--about 58 degrees. She was all bundled up and saying how cold it was. I suggested she look in warm climates for colleges! I can just see her in snow--NOT! But her counselor is telling her that the best schools (she wants to go into music education) are on the east coast or midwest. I'm thinking she ought to stay down south--Texas, Arizona, etc. One she is interested in is in Ohio.....I don't think she'd survive the winters! LOL BTW, I was born and raised in SLC, Utah--so I know cold, snowy winters!
Glad to hear Aunt Hazel is doing better and that you haven't sabotaged your diet too much Suzy!
Have a great day everyone!
10-11-2006, 03:02 PM
Hey ya'll! I am a newbie here, and wanted to stop by and say hi! You ladies seem like a fun group. I could use some humor and support!
It is a lovely cold day here in Oregon. I am so glad that it's Fall. Summer is just way too dang hot!
Well, I hope you are all having a great Wednesday!
10-11-2006, 03:43 PM
Wow!! I have been lost in cyberspace. My computer was down and I finally got it back. I need to catch up on everything around here.
10-11-2006, 03:53 PM
I wish this poll had the muiltiple options cause its chilly for florida but really loving this fall breeze. I call it " October breeze"
Lynn - winter is amazing
suzy- glad to hear aunt hazel is recoving.
alli- I am a sophmore and I am a bit pendantic !! I think colleges are my obsession! Only I love the cold. I hate the florda heat. I am planning for college in chicago!
Nine- You sound like something is going on! welcome. feel free to evnt anytime hah.
10-11-2006, 04:16 PM
Welcome NineFan! My DH is a 24 fan (Jeff Gordon).
10-11-2006, 04:46 PM
WELCOME NINEFAN! I'm a racing fan too! My husband & I each have our own fantasy racing teams. I have been to two of the races at the KC track...FUN, FUN FUN! Join in here any time!
Janice, SO HAPPY YOUR BACK! How is WW's going??
Suzy, glad Auntie is better! You did great in the weight department for eating fast food and hospital stuff! Will be so happy when you can be here full time again!
Shelley, you are a busy little bee! How did you do at the mex restraunt? Nothing to low cal I'm sure!! I love mex, but it seems like they fry everything! I usually ask for my taco shells plain, then everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. LOL!
Vouge, one Winter in Chicago and you may decide Florida isn't that bad! LOL!
Allison, I'm right there, beside your daughter on the cold! I am dreading Winter!
It is chilly here! COLD mornings, warming in the afternoon. We have a prediction of snow showers tonight. I hope not! Next week is to be in the 70's again...go figure! when it turns to Fall, I just want to hibernate in my cozy warm house!
10-11-2006, 04:58 PM
Welcome NineFan! I'm an Elliott Sadler fan...win or lose, I'll follow anyone who drives a car that's painted like a giant bag of M&M's!
Gayle ~ I'll be glad to get back here full time again too! It looks like Saturday is going to be discharge day. Aunt Hazel started some PT yesterday (walking up and down the halls). Today she is off the oxygen and has lost a total of 6 pounds (water weight). She had gained a total of 12 pounds in the past two weeks, so she has more to go, but it's coming off and she's feeling much better!
Janice ~ I'm glad you're back!
Shelley ~ I'm glad to hear that you are able to do a little running again. That must make you really happy!
10-11-2006, 05:40 PM
Gayle, have you or DH ever been on a "ride-along?" My DH did it with some friends at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and they all got hooked. They started out racing vintage Mustangs (FAST vintage Mustangs!). Ours was a 1966. Then it progressed--a couple got Corvettes, one Lola, one Porsche and a few got old stock cars. Then we all had to get motor homes so the families could lounge around while the hubbies raced. Then we all figured out how much we spent!!! Sold our Mustang, still looking for a buyer on the stock car.
DH went to Fontana to watch a NASCAR race and hated it. He prefers watching it on TV because he likes the commentary. He watches EVERY weekend. It gets a bit old for me--but he does laundry while watching! LOL Also, he TiVo's it so he can fast forward through all the commercials.
10-11-2006, 05:58 PM
So, am I the only NON-Nascar fan here?
10-11-2006, 06:10 PM
Cheryl, Cheryl....once you start looking at those hunks with large engines...you'll be a race fan too!!! LOL!
Suzy, had to giggle over your MM car comment...not sure what that says for me...I like Mark Martin and the Viagra car!!! Sadler seems like such a nice person too!
Allison, we had a period when hubby decided to race locally...ran out of money before we could start the season! Sooooooo, now we are just back to watching on TV. I agree with hubby, it is better to WATCH the race on TV, but it is a blast to be involved in all the excitement track side!
All of you racing groupies: have you noticed how the racers do not seem to age well? Must be from all the stress.
Cheryl.....I bet before it is over with....we sway you to the dark side! When I first involved with racing, I had no clue what it meant when someone got the pole. It is the guy who is in 1st place after qualifying.
10-11-2006, 06:33 PM
Cheryl-No, you are not alone. I'm not a car racing fan either. The closed I come to racing is watching Days of Our Lives, where a couple of the guys are car racers. BTW, is Stewart talking to you today? Good for you on getting a new car. I just love the smell of new cars. Have fun with it.
Welcome Ninefan. Hop in and join us.
My day started out with a parent yelling at me about something that happened at school yesterday. I won't get into it, but I finally smoothed it over and all is fine now. I ended up hugging her and thanking her for coming in (what a lie!!)
I was not too good at the restaurant. I had taco soup and a beef taco salad. No sauce on the salad, but I did eat a couple of corners off the shell it was made in. I don't feel guilty though, because I really did okay. I didn't touch any of the taco chips and sauce that everyone was eating before we were served. We had a really good time, all of us old *****es laughing loudly and we didn't even order drinks!
Suzy-I'm glad your aunt is feeling better. I am still sending prayers your way for a speedy recovery for her.
Vogue-My DD attends USF and says it has been very chilly up in Tampa. Of course, chilly to us is anything lower than 80's. It's nice to see a little cooler and less humid weather, although it is supposed to rain this week.
Gayle-How is work going? You haven't talked about it lately. Are you still getting along well with the owner?
Ramona, Doni (please post something to let us know you're okay), Sherry, Dee, Debbie, Janice (good to see you!!), Carol, Vick, and everyone else who hasn't posted lately--please, if you are lurking, just pop in to say hi!
10-11-2006, 07:37 PM
GGdean- In the words of the amazing sinatra: My Kind of town Chicago is ... I love it there!!! my familys there all my amzingly adorable baby cousins I cant wait to get out of here, ive lived here for 5 years and hated it. I dont know why pepole say im crazy , i prob am but I love it up north in the city!
4myself- No I dont like nascar myself. I find it kinda lame to watch a car drive in a circle for like 4-6 hours, 200-500 times. Im with ya girl!
10-11-2006, 07:52 PM
I am not a racing fan either, but do watch Days of our Lives! I have watched Days forever!
Suzy, so glad Aunt Hazel is doing better. I know you will be happy when all is calm again!
Sorry this one has to be a short one, I have to do some reading for class tomorrow! I have to research and find an answer to a question a student asked in class.
10-11-2006, 10:21 PM
Vouge, racing isn't lame silly! It's really fun if you connect with a few drivers and start rooting for them. When we went to KC, it was neat because we could radio into their frequency and pick up personal conversations going on between the racers and their family/pit crew. It really put a human side to it compared to cars just going around in circles.
I have been to Chicago one time, it was a fun trip! Too big of a city though for this redneck!!
Deb, are things starting to slow down for you now? Do you have good classes this year?
Shelley, job is still happening. I LOVE the job, just have problems with a few co-workers. Too many chiefs and not enough indians. I get along great with the owner, problem is...she is never here. She lives in another city with a second business, so she just drops in here a few days at a time. Her manager is not the best manager in the World, but if she is ok with how things are running, then I need to keep quite, it is her store. Hopefully, one of theses days, she will realize she really should look at new management.
Just came from a social event. I am tired and hungry! Trying to talk myself out of eating this late though! I want something salty!!!! Give me crackers & cheese!!!! YUMMY!
10-11-2006, 10:26 PM
Thanks for the welcome ya'll! It's good to be here.
Yay! Race fans! I just love Nascar, very devoted fan here!
:cookie: I just made cookies for the boys. To have one, or not to have one?? Maybe just one? Hmmm, I will have to think about it! I have done pretty well today, small portions and all that. I hate being so big! I am not supposed to be this way dammit! lol. I really need to get off my butt, and kick it into gear...need to lose more weight...a lot more.
:carrot: I know I can do it, I have done it before. And when I do finally get down to my gw, I'm gonna keep it off!
Thanks for listening to me ramble:o I look forward to getting to know you guys.
10-12-2006, 05:48 AM
Gayle-I vote for you to be manager! You deserve it and are probably her best employee!
10-12-2006, 07:04 AM
Gayle, things won't calm down for me until the semester is over at Christmas time. I second the idea as you as the manager!
Well time for me to get to work! Hope everyone has a great Thursday! Weigh in day for me!
10-12-2006, 08:43 AM
I don't see it happening girls. She has an assistant manager who was promoted about 2 years ago. This lady has worked there 10 years. If anyone should step into the manager position, it should be her. Problem though, she can not multi task....she gets one thing on her mind and off she goes...to the point she will even walk by customers and not wait on them. Man, I can just imagine the hornets nest if I was promoted to management after 1 year there compared to the one that has been there 10 years!! LOL! The manager is young, immature, is willing to throw her help under the bus if it is to her benefit and tends to fib....hmmmmm.....maybe one of these days the owner will catch on. Enough about my "wonderful" job. I do LOVE working in retail sales and dealing with the public....just yucky co-workers, but I think that is about any job I could have.
Welcome again NINEFAN! Feel free to post here any time!!! Did you eat a cookie??? I had the cheese and crackers.
Deb, good luck with weigh in!
10-12-2006, 09:18 AM
Gayle - I haven't been to weight watchers for a couple of weeks. I haven't even gotten on the scale at home. I just can't seem to keep it together.
Started on another arthritis medication injections once a week. Will see how that goes.
It is sure busy around here.
Welcome to all the newbies.
I don't follow nascar either. I do like to go to the local races here in the summer. We know a few of the drivers so it makes it fun.
10-12-2006, 09:23 AM
Gayle, I did eat the cookie! An oatmeal chocolate chip one. It was yummy. But I did manage to keep my lil hands off of them for the rest of the night after that!
Thursdays are busy days here. I think the only time I get by myself is this hour and 1/2 in the morning when dh is at work, and the kids are still in bed. Then off to 2 different schools...(my oldest Cody, is in first grade, my middle guy Justin is in preschool)...and that leaves me with my baby Sean. Well, he thinks he is a baby, and he always will be to me, but at 2 and 1/2, he is more like a tornado than a child.:dizzy:
Then off to WalMart, I'm getting an entertainment center. We are going to be remodeling the house...moving rooms around, painting. I can't wait until it's all nice and done. As it stands now, my house is a wreck! Stuff everywhere. And my washing machine went kaput yesterday. Nooooo! Oh, I don't even want to think about it.
On the bright side, I'll be so busy, I won't have time to eat too much!
I hope ya'll have a wonderful day!
10-12-2006, 02:09 PM
Hey Cheryl I am the one with the other weather. For the last few days it has been sleating and snowing. There is now plenty of snow on the ground to make a snowman. Out my window I can see a little boy in a blue parka pushing around a yellow tonka bulldozer in the snow. How kids love the snow.
I had a wonderful weekend up at the lake. Hard to believe but two out of the four days we could have worn shorts. Our cottage had a sauna, big whirlpool tub, fireplace and it was lake front. We went on hikes in the bush and up the rocky landscape and had hot cozy fires on the lake watching the full moon glisten on the water. Wonderful.
Larry left for North Carolina early tuesday morning and will be back tonight. Yesterday when it was storming he calls and tells me he is golfing. Hard to believe.
Well today is clean the house day and I have two floors finished now to head down to the tropical paradise. I am really going to enjoy that today.
10-12-2006, 03:13 PM
Def. shell agreed!!!!!
Lynn- I like Passions haha
Dont mean to offend any racing fans sorry!!!! ( But i sitll have my opions on it , i think the same about runnung track and dog races , its all very silly. )
10-12-2006, 04:04 PM
As for NASCAR, I'm quite divided. I would never choose to watch it myself, but I can watch it for a short while as DH watches. Basically, he turns it on and does his thing, so if I go into the room with the TV, I will watch. Usually, I'll read a book instead. DH tried to get the kids involved, too (mostly when he was racing). DD wanted to grow up to be a driver (NOT) and she likes Mark Martin. DS just liked the M&M car--don't remember who drove it or if it's even around any more.
Snow. Gosh, it's like 90 degrees here today. I just can't imagine snow already! Even when growing up in Utah, it rarely snowed too much this early (if it did, it usually melted pretty quickly).
Ninefan, put that cookie down!
Gayle, did you remember the wine with your cheese and crackers?
Everyone have a great day!
10-12-2006, 08:15 PM
Lynneye, I'm with you, I love cozying up in warm clothes with some hot tea or cocoa, my cat, and my knitting with a favorite movie on. I couldn't do really hot weather during the winter months. BJ (Just visiting)
10-13-2006, 07:10 AM
I lost 1.6 last night at WI! Very happy about that.
On my way to work, "talk" to everyone later!
10-13-2006, 09:20 AM
I love cozying up by the warm toast fire for about two weeks, it gets old quick when you are looking at 5-6 months. Yes to me it is like a prison sentence. I feel like I am locked up in a box. That is why we spend all that cash and go away in the winter.
Time for the Y. Have a good day. The snow has melted but it is freezing out and the wind is gusting. I think I might get blown all the way to the gym. We will see if I still have the strength to walk back.
10-13-2006, 09:55 AM
10-13-2006, 10:18 AM
This morning I am very happy that I don't live 150 miles to the north of here...Buffalo got 22 inches of snow last night and it's still coming down! That makes our weather here look downright wonderful...even if it is only 30 degrees and the wind blowing 25 miles an hour!
I spoke with Aunt Hazel's doctor this morning and he assured me that she will be fine to go home alone and will be able to take care of herself. I told him that I was planning on staying with her until she was comfortable being on her own again and he strongly suggested that I not do that. He said that it would be harder for her to get back into her regular routine with me there and would just make the whole process more difficult...sort of the sink or swim theory. He said that if I wanted to stay the first night that it would be ok and then go home on Sunday, so that's probably what I will do.
Have a good weekend everyone and hopefully I'll be back on Sunday!
10-13-2006, 11:23 AM
Suzy, Glad to hear Aunt Hazel will soon be home.
Lynneye, congrats on the loss!
Since we don't get snow here (well, we did a couple years ago,but that was a fluke!) my favorite is a good, cold rainy day with a fire, blanket, cup of tea and a good book. Days like this happen so rarely! Usually, I'm on the patio with my book, looking for shade!
Two more days until the in-laws return. I'm at 139.5--half a pound to get back to my tracker. It's taken almost two weeks--what's up with that? Today is Friday which means lunch out with DH. We usually hit a sandwich place--I'll choose the one that doesn't serve any side dishes. Made banana/stawberry/yogurt smoothies for everyone for breakfast. Dinner? Hmm, gotta be low cal--perhaps a salad. After work, I've got to hit the health food store. I need whole wheat orzo for a dinner I'm planning for in-laws for Sunday night. The recipe calls for orzo, so I need whole wheat, and most grocery stores don't carry that many varieties of whole wheat pasta. Wish me luck, otherwise I'll have to improvise.
Have a great day everyone!
10-13-2006, 12:30 PM
Way to go Lynneye. I know that every pound lost is a lot of work.
Suzy well we don't compare to Buffalo, thank goodness.
I am glad to hear that Aunt Hazel will be going home and returning to a normal life. Cherish each moment with her.
Allison I am envy you. I love to be where it is sunny and warm looking for that shady spot.
What are you making with orzo? I just made a pot of Italian Wedding Soup with it. I didn't know that you could get whole wheat.
Today I am going to cook a roast with garlic mashed potatoes. It is a cozy meal to keep us warm. I will make sure that I serve lots of veggies with it.
Hey Shelley, Gayle, and Cheryl where are you today. You usually post every day. Hope all is well.
10-13-2006, 12:43 PM
Dee--I found a recipe (Epicurious, I think) for baked halibut with orzo, wilted spinach and tomatos. I found that you can buy whole wheat orzo online (amazon) but didn't find the recipe early enough to order it online!
Oh, I love Italian Wedding soup (minestrone, too!)
10-13-2006, 08:23 PM
Evening my friends sorry i haven't been on for several days...We are trying to sell our house and have had people come and look at it. Plus we have a BIL that had prostate cancer and surgery last thursday and a really good friend who had terminal cancer that is in ICU not doing well at all. So to say the least i am exhausted from all of it.
I have lost 10 lbs in the last month by doing the Glysemic Impact Diet which has really been great for me.
I want to welcome all the newbies here and you couldn't have picked a better group. We have had a great growth in the group and see that Shelley and Gayle are keeping things going.
Well i am off to bed and will check in tomorrow ...
Be Good,Healthy and Happy
10-14-2006, 07:13 AM
Vicki!! Good to "see" you!! Please keep posting.
Debi-Yay on the WI!! Also, WTG on the bellydancing, even with your soreness. Just be careful.
I shared a calzone with Mike last night for the first time. It was very yummy. I didn't overeat, so it hasn't affected my weight so far. Plus, I'll be running today, so it should be okay. It only had cheese in it, no sausage. Quite greasy, though. MMMM......
My baby is home for the weekend, but she is here for a Body Jam workshop, so I only get to see her for a few minutes. She looks wonderful.
Gotta get started with my workout.
10-14-2006, 10:10 AM
Well today is homecoming. I dont have a date and am new to the school so dont know many pepole so its going to be fun.. i guess.
yesterday I spent the whole day with my best friend the really skinny one , and we worked out ( I just love working out with someone rather than alone) . all she did was comment all the time how great I loook then we were at the mall and we were in the dressing room trying on dresses and one that I couldnt get on before zipped with no problem!!!!!!!! :-):-):-) She kept saying that she can tell I am going to ahve a really really great figure . and shes right. I can see it now coming sorta. I am going to have a curvy but sensual body. thats my description haha. i crack myself up!
Glad to hear about aunt hazel suzy
Shelly- Dont tell me thats the first time you ever had a calzone!!!!!!!!! You shoudl try one with spinich and rigggot once the e coli thingy is over.
Viki very sorry to hear about your firend, but i too have lost some weighht in a month.
Alli- what diet are you doing at the moment?
I think it would be fun to share all of our diet techniques here. I am doing the low carb atkins for about a month and 2 weeks . when I weighted last I found that I lost about 15 lbs in a month . withought excersice just eating. Thats 3.5 pounds per week . muscle weighs more than fat and I cant help but to think I have lost even more.
I am not doing that same routine only waking up at 5:30 to workout everyday before school . I am doing aerobics and floor work . If you workout before you eat in the morning you burn more fat. Fat stores overnight in your body if you workout before you eat anything you burn that fat, get your metabolism going for the day , and lose even more.
10-14-2006, 10:45 AM
Vogue--congrats on all the NSV's yesterday. Have a fun time at homecoming!
I'm doing a combination of things for my diet. Counting calories (trying to stay at 1200-1400 per day) while also watching that I keep the fat content low. I eat too many fruits and veggies to be considered a low carb dieter. I eat mainly whole foods, not processed foods.
I'm back to 139--my ticker weight! 4 to go--yay! I first got to 139 on 9/27 and stayed there for 3 days running. I guess it was a weekend when I popped up to 140.5 and then with 2 days of bad choices after that, I was back to 141. 15 days to get rid of 2 days indescretion. Not going to let that happen again!
My in-laws arrive tomorrow. For dinner, I'm planning baked halibut with orzo, spinach (cooked) and tomatoes as well as some veggies on the side. I couldn't find whole wheat orzo, so I had to settle for plain. If the recipe is good, I'll order whole wheat off the internet. Whole wheat pasta is so much better!
10-14-2006, 11:53 AM
Allison your dinner menu sounds wonderful. I love halibut.
Doesn't it feel good to lose?
Vicki I am glad that you popped in. Sorry to hear about your BIL and friend. I hope that your house sells quickly and that you get out of that area.
Keep up the good job on losing. At least the snow is gone.
We are having a friend down for dinner tomorrow night. He is from NY. He works with Larry. Larry doesn't have many close friends so when he asked if he could come to dinner I didn't mind.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Shelley are you up to jogging again? I hope that you aren't pushing it.
It is nice when are kids come home to visit even if it is a short visit.
Vouge enjoy your homecoming. You have had a month of parties.
Will the new Vouge please present herself...........wow I bet you look fantastic.
Gayle where are you?
Cheryl you to where are you? Is everything ok?
Suzy I love your new avitar. It gave me a chuckle. How is Travis doing?
Today the sun is shinning and it is above freezing. Time to winterize outside. It just hit us quickly.
10-14-2006, 07:46 PM
YAY TO ALL THE LOSERS!
No time to post individually. BUSY WEEKEND! Leaving in the AM early to go to a city about 3 hours away to a wine tasting. Hmmmmm.....hubby....me...wine....no kids..... :-)
See you guys Monday evening!
10-14-2006, 08:40 PM
Going to meet my Mom tomorrow. Haven't seen her since April so really looking forward to it. We are meeting someplace that is about 1/2 way for both of us. Rob is going as well as my Step Dad so will be a fun day for all of us.
Sorry I don't have time to write to everyone.
Everyone have a great Sunday!
10-15-2006, 01:47 PM
allinell- you see I manage to eat about that many calories a day along with low carbing. Have fun with the in laws, you know what they say , " You can pick a wedigie , you can pick your nose , but you cant pick your relatives. "
Dee- I had a great time.read my story haa
Lynn- have fun and savor the moment.
Gayle- You sound so naughty haha
you know the boy i liked and asked to the dance , niceley said he thought of us as friends , then he confuses me all night. 1st he tells me I look nice, then we make plans to play tennis on monday and I say goodnight and go to leave and as I am leaving he runs up to and gives me a hug. Then Im outside waiting for my dad , and he comes over to talk to me and invites me to baskin robbins. ( Sorry girls heres where I cheat and have a brownie sundae but I didnt want to turn down the offer to go with him. ) So we go and hes waiting forever for some service to order his ice cream while im eating mine and I offer to share with him , but he is kinda germaphobic sometimes so he finally gets his own , we go to sit down with everyone else and theres one chair left at the table so I go to pull a chair over for myself and he goes no you can sit here , and pulls a chair out for me. But he said he only wanted to be friends when i asked him....grrr... men so he knows I like him , he wants to ask me out then its up to him but Im not going to pretend I like him only as a friend cause I like him alot. Hes such a dork and its so cute.
i also manageed to sprain my ankle somehow , i mean I heard the bone crack , but its all good I kept dancing and I can walk on it today juts in a limp sortof way. it was worth it I had a ton of fun. I will just have to use the pilaties ball to workout for the next few days rather than running and areobics.
10-15-2006, 02:29 PM
vogue--sorry to hear about your ankle. I hope it isn't broken. My DD broke hers a few years ago. I had the mentality at the time that if she could walk on it, it wasn't broken. How wrong I was! She was in a cast for 6 weeks.
I'm really lucky when it comes to in-laws. I love mine. My kids love them, too. My kids don't do as well with my own parents because they are so much older and don't play with the kids. My inlaws just retired this year and my parents are in their 80's. A big difference! So, yeah, I'll have fun with them! Can't wait for them to call.

Aunt Hazel is finally home and very happy to be there! I spent the day with her yesterday helping her to sort through all the new meds and generally getting her situated. I made a lasagna for dinner and a blueberry cobbler for dessert and finally around 8:30 last night she said that she thought she was going to be fine and sent me home. She called this morning to let us know that all was well...looks like things are on their way to going back to "normal"!
Travis is doing really well! He gets frequent access to a computer and I have been able to chat with him over Yahoo quite a bit. He likes the area of Iraq that he is in and doing what he is doing even though he doesn't have all the luxuries that he had during his first tour. Water is at a minimum and he has only had two showers since he's been there. I can't even imagine what the boy smells like! :p I picked up a large supply of new socks, foot cream and a lot of baby wipes today to send to him. Not quite as good as a shower and freshly washed clothes, but I'm sure it will be better than nothing. They don't have a "mess hall" either so they are eating something that is just a step above MRE's. I guess it's sort of like a TV dinner that is dropped into boiling water to heat it, so I make sure to send him lots of goodies to eat too. All things considered he sounds really good and is getting along well.
It sounds like everyone has something fun planned for the day today! Normally we would be off doing something today too, but for now I'm just enjoying being home for a change. Have a good day everyone!

Vogue-I hope your parents make sure you get your ankle checked out. Sounds like the boy is very interested in you. Good for you on the weight loss. BTW, I am doing WW, both Flex and Core. I wasn't too great yesterday, though. I ate through the house last night. I'll get back on track today.
Ali-Good for you on the WI! You are doing great.
Dee-I am being very cautious with my feet. I am actually doing Galloway running, which is a run/walk. I run about 12 min, then walk 1 min. I haven't gone over 5 miles at a time, and never 2 days in a row. I just need to tell myself that's all I can do right now and not push it. I am only going 12 miles per week right now. I don't want to get back into 40 miles per week. For me, it just isn't good for my body. I do want to keep up the biking though. I am going to get my dream bike once our refinance is done.
Suzy-How wonderful that you are able to "talk" to Travis and he is doing well. My always keep him in my prayers.

Where did the weekend go? It really flew by here! I can't believe it is Monday! I need another day off!
Vouge, you probably should have your ankle checked. Take care and be careful!
Suzy, give Travis my best next time you chat with him! Rob and I talk about him often. He is one special young man! Also, so glad Aunt Hazel is doing so well.
Shelley, so happy you are able to run some now.
Well time to get out the door and get to work. Today is test day, so easy day for me, but then I get to correct everything so the rest of the week, isn't so easy!

alli- Not to worry haha its no broken in fact I still plan to play tennis today , just bruised a bit. I iced it on and off all day yesterday and kept up with the Ibeprofen . I even did some crunches on the pilates ball!
Glad to see you like your inlaws. I know my new brother in law loves my parents even more than he loves his own so sometiems it just works out that way.
suzy- I cnat imagine whats on your mind between aunt hazel and travis. My prayers for both! Travis really sounds like hes doing good. and I wouldnt worry about the shower thing, hes a boy. he likes to get dirty haha. I have had those army dinners before. once in school in 3rd grade an army general guy came for like career day and brought them in , it was so gross!!Im sure hed love some twinkies for you to send his way!
Shell- Thanks so much . I think he is to shy to ask me out after he said we should be just friends cause he liked another girl who turned him down . so I am just going to keep dropping hints that i still like him and wait for him to say something. and really I have the weakest ankles. I twist my ankles at least 3 times a year. I dont know how it just happens.
How do you like weight watchers? at my age I dont see it ideal but mabey one day , I hope i dont get to the point where I need to diet again ... I wont.
lynn- I am just fine thanks for all the concern. like I siad it happens often!
