Hey ladies,

Just had a thought that maybe we could make a thread of things we love about ourselves - I know I fall into the negative cycle and don't spend enough mental energy saying positive things about myself so here goes -

1) I love my smile
2) I love my compassion

That's enough for now, but my goal is going to be to post something positive about myself here every day this week.

Anyone with me?

Sounds like a good idea. We all need to think more positively. I'll try one thing every day. So for day 1:

I love my eyes.

I love being able to have two great dogs and the space for them to run and play.

I just plain think I rock!!! I would rock more if I lost 40 lbs!!!!! I would be hot and rock!!!! LOL!!!!!

Maybe I should work at being humble LOL!!!

Seriously, I love that I have good self esteem.

SarahinBalance

No humility on this forum! We beat ourselves up enough as it is that we need to take a sentence or 2 (or paragraph or novel) a day to focus on our strengths and what we like about ourselves.

I love myself, even the self that ate 4 SB diet bars, 2 string cheeses, 1 bowl of cereal, 2 crisps w/ laughing cow and a veggie burrito ALL so far today - Loving myself is loving my binges.

Thanks for this thread...we need more positives!! I for one beat myself up quite a bit!

Man ladies - Woke up and the self esteem monster was whispering mean things into my ear, so gotta think of some truly nice things about myself -

1) I love my eyes and how unique they are
2) I love my body, I am amazed at my body's indurance in working out

Hopefully these few things will spread a theme of sweetness throughout my core so that I can like myself for the rest of the day.

You chicks are really making me feel good...not just about myself, but about our world and the fabulous women in it. :cloud9: I just finished reading a book that had a lot to say about how awful we women are to ourselves...and how much the world can hurt our self-esteem because our culture doesn't always value who we are. Here's a quote from it:

“Women weep, [feminist Germaine] Greer believes, because they feel powerless, and because they are exhausted and overworked and lonely. Women weep because their own needs are unsatisfied, continually swept into the background as they tend to the needs of others. They weep because the men in their lives so often seem incapable of speaking the language of intimacy, and because their children grow up and become distant, and because they are expected to acquiesce to this distance, and because they live lives of chronically lowered expectations and chronic adjustment to the world of men, the power and strength of a woman’s emotions considered pathological or hysterical or sloppy, her interest in connection considered trivial, her core being never quite seen or known or fully appreciated, her true self out of alignment with so much that is valued and recognized and worshipped in the world around her, her love, in a word, unrequited.”
-Caroline Knapp, Appetites: Why Women Want

Reading the very intuitive, wonderful, respectful things you're writing about yourselves makes a huge dent in my worry about women and how we can ever learn to love ourselves. Thanks, chicks! :grouphug: I think you are all amazing...and I'm amazed at the wonderful ways that you stand strong in spite of stiff winds and hard lives. :workout: :strong: You ROCK!!!

I love my creative nature.
I love my ability to see beauty around me, everywhere.
I love that I can mess up and still love myself and believe that I'm worthy of love anyway.

This is hard we do beat our selves up all the time. Here goes:

I love the color of my hair, its the perfect strawberry blonde and it's thick and really shinney. I also have a great hair cut.

I love the fact that I'm only 5'2. I love it when people say I'm cute.

I love the fact that I have a 19 year old son, and when people find out they immediately say No way, how old were you when you had him. I'm 40, that makes a girl feel great.

I love the fact that I'm a good mom to both my kids.

Maybe we should all print these out and keep them with us to look at when we start to feel crummy about ourselves.

I think we should either print these out, or make this a constant daily ritual!

This morning I love the me that is able to get up while it's still dark to go work out! Oh and ladies I think I might need to post some before and afters - was realizing last night looking at old photos how much I really have lost! Almost embaressing actually

I love this thread!

I love my eyes and smile. I love how I now love my hair after spending far too long and too much energy hating it.

I love the fact I walk 4 miles 5 days a week. (I gave up my car and it's a 2 mile walk to class and another 2 home.) I'm so impressed that my body is standing up to the challenge.
