Good afternoon, gang... I'm new here and so far, I really like what I see! I've already joined a Thanksgiving Challenge, and having others to talk to about this journey to a slimmer, healthier me has really been encouraging during a week where I've REALLY needed it.
What I'm really having trouble with lately is my new, improved diet and my newlywed husband. He is out-and-out, through-and-through REBELLING against all of my attempts at making healthy things for us to eat and keeping junk food out of the house. I do like to cook, and so I find all kinds of tasty recipes with fresh veggies and lean meats... and my dear, dear husband wrinkles his nose and takes a few half-hearted bites before either (a) throwing it away, or (b) feeding it to the dog. He then heads for the snack foods. He would rather I make fatty, starchy "comfort" food, like his mother makes. In fact, he came home from his mom's house yesterday with a big tupperware full of chicken and dumplings and sat there eating it in front of me. Gaaaah!!!
And it's not like he's a skinny guy, either. Since we moved in together this time last year, we've both easily put on 40 pounds -
each. He could stand to benefit from a diet change, too... for health reasons, mostly, because heart disease runs in his family. He did sign up for a gym membership with me, but he's gone only once - and since we joined three weeks ago I go four days a week. And really, that's just fine - I like being able to take my time and make it "me time," and his being there would ruin that for me, I think.
Does anyone have some creative suggestions about how I can get my husband on board with me for a healthy diet? I'm tired of making two meals at dinnertime!!
Thanks in advance...
