Can you believe it's October already? Where did the time fly?? The weekend was awesome! I loved the retreat and have learned so much. Learned enough that I told DH that we have to continue doing things alone (well, w/each other that is. lol). Eating wasn't TOO bad...just bad enough. But back to it today. Also realized I can't keep my attention focused on my weight. Have to retrain my brain for that one.
Hope you all had a great weekend!!

Good Morning :sunny:
Im glad you had a good time Brenda!
My eating is going to be back on track today. No more toast  Im feeling alot better so hopefully everything else will fall into place.
I will make a promise to myself......I promise I will not push it, I promise I will not make loosing weight the center of my world, I promise to eat properly, get my exercise, and feel good about myself.
Have a great day ladies!
10-02-2006, 10:25 AM
Brenda - Sounds like you had a great time! That's wonderful. Iknow what you mean about not focusing on weight all the time. I all to often find myself doing just that and and then I start thinking that I can't wait til this is over. HA! I then have to remind myself that this is now my life. So I better stop thinking about it like that and get on with other things!
MsChris - about the strips - they just never registered for me. THey always showed that I wasn't in ketosis. And I have heard that from a lot of people.
SO I stopped driving myself crazy with them. I am trying to go back to induction today. SInce Aug. 1 I have lost one inch in my chest .5 in my waist and .5 in my thighs. I don't know if that is good or not. but the scale is telling me anything from 151 to 154 since then too. I know my carbs have crept up on me and maybe I'm one of those that have to stay real low with them so I will drop them this week to induction level and see what happens.
Have a good day All!
10-02-2006, 12:16 PM
Brenda, I am glad you enjoyed the retreat. That sounds very fun.
Maggie, WTG on the inches lost
We finished all the yard work yesterday at my MIL's. When we first got there, we couldn't get her riding mower started. So, I push mowed the front yard for 1 hr. Then, took a break. Then the riding mower started and I did the rest of the 5 acres on it plus mowed my Aunt's yard next door. Total of about 6 hrs. of work. I am sore across the shoulders today and the scale is down another 2 lbs. Since my MIL and Aunt are both doing Atkins also, it's nice to eat a meal with them, they stick very strict to the plan. My eating has been totally on program and I'm getting plenty of water. Definitely the treadmill for me today. I figure if I can push mow for an hr., I can walk slow on the treadmill. I breathed in a ton of dirt yesterday from all the mole hills that I mowed over and my sinuses feel pretty clogged up now. My MIL and Aunt were so happy with the work we did and it just felt great to be able to help them. My MIL has been sick for 2 months, she is so weak that she stumbles when she walks. Her cardiologist has done tons of tests, but isn't sure what is wrong with her. She has always been a very strong person and loved to keep her home and yard beautiful. I knew it was bothering her tremendously that she can't take care of it the way she wants right now. The next time my DH has a day off work, we told her we'd bring our carpet shampooer and do her carpets for her. They are white and really need cleaned. My DH did tell me how much he loves me and appreciates me last night. He said "I don't like to ever compare you to my XW but she would never in a million yrs. have went and worked that hard to help my mom unless she was getting paid". This made me feel good. I'm not that type of person, if someone that I care about needs help, I'll do anything I can to help. I would never dream of taking money for helping someone in need. I have my parents to thank for instilling good values in us children. So, all in all , today I am proud, sore and 2 lbs. lower on the scale. Yeah.

Good Morning Ladies
"Another week another dollar earned" quote from my dad long ago. Thanks:thanks:lady adnerb for starting us up. I survived this weekend with my
W-I this morning and I maintained this week. I think I add back carbs to quickly again. I'm up to 30 grams, going to bring it down to 25 and see what happens.
Robin-Good idea  not forcusing on weight loss all the time. My dh telling me all the time, but do I:listen: listen no.:no:I keep on & on and he has to keep a deaf ear.
Lilybelle-Sorry :sorry: for your sore shoulder, maybe you could but some cold compress on it. But Big Congrats :cheer: on your other two pound loss. That terrific. I was lucky :lucky:also I maintained, after thinking my weight was going to be up on Saturday, but it came down. Now heres to next week.
Have a good one
Hugs :) BB

Here's hoping everyone has a great week. My loss since Friday was a total of 6 lbs. but 5 of it was a re-loss, so I still came out 1 lb. lower for the month. I am standing at 140 this morning which is 5lb. below my goal and I'm very happy with this. My secret goal is to one day be at 135, but I can't tell my DH as he thinks I've lost enough. Maybe if I slowly lose a lb. each month for the next 5 months, he'll never know the difference. Kind of like when I buy new clothes and put them in the closet, wait a while to wear them and when he asks "is that new" I say "no, I've had it for a long time". LOL.
10-02-2006, 08:18 PM
Lily, Your posts are so inspiring. I do that with clothes, too. My hubby hardly ever notices anything new. I used to feel bad about that but now I know it is really a blessing. ha!
10-02-2006, 11:29 PM
carol, Aren't we just sneaky?
10-03-2006, 09:44 AM
Good Morning Ladies:)
Its Freezing up here, BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!We have the fireplace going,to get the chill out of the house. Winter is coming girls. That means we'll be looking for comfort foods[soups & stews]and heavy meals again. We must be careful not to over indulge. PORTION CONTROL has to be high on the list and take priority above all.
Lilybelle-YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :cheers:your doing teriific with you total of 6 lbs off.Your lucky:lucky: your DH notices. I have to parade in front of mine before he takes notice.
I was down again this morning to 149.5 but yesterday was my official W-I day,so I keeping the ticker as is. Just wanted to let you know that low carbing is working. I love:love: this WOE. I'm not as far as your gals are in carb adding,up to 25 grams. Impressed with Robin being able to go up to 50 per day,but maybe down the road I'll be able to go that far.
Hugs :) BB
Will post later
10-03-2006, 11:43 AM
Good morning ladies, Hope everyone is off to a great day.
My DH came home from work in tears yesterday. It is so hard to see him so upset. One of his buddies that he trained as a State Trooper was killed this weekend by a semi-truck that went out of control and ran over him while he was making a routine traffic stop. Not sure when the funeral is yet, but know that we will be going. The truck driver was killed also. This trooper had only been on the Highway Patrol for 3 yrs. My DH has been on for almost 20 yrs. and it really is like a big family, they care so deeply for each other and each others family.
BB, it looks like you are doing fantastic with the Atkins life syle. I am so glad. It works so well for me and I am happy to see when others are having that same success with it. I also love eating this way and will do it for life. I can't take 50 carbs a day without gaining, but do maintain pretty well at 30-40 if I have no cheats.
We had a few cooler days last week, but haven't turned the heater on yet this yr. It is about mid-80's during the day here now.
10-03-2006, 12:09 PM
Such sad news, Lily. I always wonder how nurses and drs. manage to not get attached to their patients. My daughter is a nurse and the things she tells me about......I don't think I could be in that profession. But you know about that.
10-03-2006, 04:18 PM
Hi, I just came from picking up my new bifocals. Outside I could see great with them, everything looked so clear. But, my computer screen was so blurry I had to take them off. I guess they'll take some getting used to. I couldn't see out of top or bottom for typing. But, I did see better while driving so that's a big plus.
Currently I have a little sliver of glass in the bottom of my foot that I can't see well enough to get out. DH tried to get it out last night and couldn 't. I guess I better go try some more, before it gets really sore.
10-04-2006, 12:11 AM
Well hey there guys. I had a pretty good day today. I walked to work which has a gym so I walked 2.5 miles to work then lifted weights. so i would i got my exercise in for the day. I am also down 3 lbs. I can remember if i updated my ticker. Well anyways i am super sleepy so i will catch up with yall later. Good job on the weightloss and for all who went off program, just jump back on with us.
10-04-2006, 12:10 PM
Sandra, Congrat's on the 3 lbs. that is fantastic. WTG.
I went to Sam's Club yesterday and bought tons of food in bulk packages. It should last for a while. Spent too much money of course. Tried to stick with on-program foods, except for stuff for my DH to take to work. My eating wasn't too great yesterday, but not too bad. Had 24 carbs and have been having about 18-20 daily. Didn't weigh today but my fingers are swollen a little. Feel like I have a little water weight gain that I'll need to flush out.
10-04-2006, 03:55 PM
I'm here, just got up late around 9AM. watched a movie last night that didn't end until late[11:30]Now everything that on was on schedule is falling late.
The weather is much warmer than yesterday. Going to take advantage and walk so more along the beach.
Have do a little grocery shopping for the odds & ends that one uses quicky during weeks time.
LILYBELLE-I'm sorry about your DH's fellow officer death. How horrible, his poor family.Sending them my good thought & prayers.I'm happy also that I finally found a woe thats working for me. I'm sorry that the grocery stores don't fell like that,as its so hard trying to find low carb prods anymore. They were on the shelves 3 years ago,but now I only found Pepperidege Farm carb-style [5 net carbs] 4 grain bread & Dreamfield [5 net carb] pasta. Didn't the peple that bought Atkins have to right to leave the cereals, ice cream & other Atkins products on the shelf.O H lily glass sliver that must hurt,if you can't get it out please go to the doctor.you don't want an infection.I buy in bulk also but we go to BJ's instead.
SANDRA-Big congrats on your 3 lb loss.walking is a great exercise.I'm going to try to walk along the beach until it cold.
Have a nice evening ladies :) BB
10-04-2006, 07:47 PM
BB, I know what you mean about no LC products available. The lowest carb bread I have found is 6 carbs per slice. I haven't seen Dreamfield pasta in my area, and haven't had any type of pasta in over a yr. I miss pasta sometimes, but did overeat it in the past, I may do better not having it.
I'm off to broil some pork chops for dinner and make a salad, so I'll see everyone later.
10-05-2006, 02:03 AM
Thanks BB, I got the glass sliver out tonite and it feels much better now.
10-05-2006, 09:49 AM
Well guys as if life was not going strang enough, i think i may be pregnant. Its going to be totally awesome, but i am not trying to get excited until i know for sure. i didnt get to walk today cause i have to go to work early to bid for vacation time next year. so i will catch up with you guys later.
10-05-2006, 10:31 AM
Good Morning Ladies:)
Woke up late again as I'm not feeling well this morning, major sinsus headache. We had a down pour around 4 AM that left us with a very windy day. I guess theres not walking along the beach, unless we want to get blown away.
Lilybelle-I guess I have to make low carb bread & muffins from a low carb recipe web site that I found.Plus keep an eye on the LABELS for net carbs is the best we can do.I had pork chops last night for dinner.
ilovemike-WOOOOOOOOO!!!:woo: BIG CONGRATS:cheer: to you for being:preg: pregnant.Crossing my fingers :crossed: How wonderful, theres nothing in this world that is more beautiful than a new born baby. I'm thrilled you for both.
Have to go now
Hugs :) BB
10-05-2006, 10:57 AM
Sorry I've not checked in. Things got hectic around here and might get even more hectic. I had an interview at the vets office...and sounds like I'll have the job. So not sure what my hours will be. Good thing about it is, it's a LOT of physical labor (cleaning kennels, etc) so that would be my exercise. Been OP for the past 3 days and am feeling better (not so bloated or gassy). Haven't stepped on the scale in a couple days and really don't want to. The few pounds I had lost were back on. I know--water weight. Still discouraging. Well, off to go through the box of craft supplies I got from Youth Group last night. See if anything's usable :)
10-05-2006, 02:00 PM
Brenda, hope you get that job at the vet's office. I think that would be a fun place to work. I love animals.
BB, I woke up with killer sinus problems this morning too. Went back to bed and slept til 11:00 because I felt so rotten. Good luck with the homemade bread, the only good baking I can do is cookies and cakes which I don't get much anymore.
Sandra, a baby is always a gift from god to be treasured, so Congrat's. and keep us posted about the pregnancy.
10-05-2006, 05:38 PM
Just was curious why Robins Oct movin On thread is not up on the sticky????????

10-06-2006, 12:18 AM
Hey thanks guys. I am so tired right now so i think i will just catch up in the morning.
10-06-2006, 10:02 AM
After a bit more of a discussion w/DH I've decided not to take the vets job. Not unless they have daytime hours anyway. Being away from him and the girls at night isn't a good thing right now. Ate some bread last night. UGH!! I've got to stop doing that. The "oh, it's only a little" mindset is going to be my downfall. I've also been cramping up even though TOM isn't going to be hanging around for a couple more weeks. Not sure what's going on with that--but I'm sure the emotions aren't helping the eating. Gotta get a handle on that!! Off to drink more water :)
10-06-2006, 10:13 AM
Sandra~ let us know for sure....I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :crossed:
Ive been pretty good....things have gotten pretty busy around here. Dh and I are trying to get ready for a trade show we are going to be in on wednesday, then off to rochester on thrusday to meet a client and look at some new equipment. We went to a seminar 2 days ago, and bought some a new cutter while we were there......Im super excited about this one!! Its not nearly as intimidating as the behemoth we have now!! That should be here maybe today or monday :cb:
Ohhhhh and some more exciting news!!! Im going to see Trace Adkins perform in rochester next month!! :cb:
Alright, Im off, have a great day ladies!
10-06-2006, 10:21 AM

Hi, I had to share this. I think my son is becoming a Man. He's 20 yrs. old and just came by for a visit. While he was here, his girlfriend called from her work and asked him to go buy her some tampons and Midol. He went to 4 different stores to get the specific tampons that she wanted. LOL, He didn't ask dear old Mom to get them for him. My DH just patted his shoulder and said "Son, get Used to it"".lol
10-07-2006, 10:18 AM
Good Saturday Morning Ladies:)
Had a good night sleep even though Leos snoring GRRRRRRRR!!!I had to put ear plugs in my ears, but it worked & made me greatful.Don't feel as sluggish like I did yesterday.
Going to attend my first OCTOBERFEST party next week I really looking forward to all the meats & root beer[diet of course]plus the music.I missed it last year, and was told I missed a great party.
Lilybelle-Kids today grow up so fast. Its hard to watch them fly out of the nest. My son ever expereience buy tampons for his girlfriend, but hes done other things that made me see he gas grown up. Thanks for sharing.
Robin-Thanks for getting the Oct Exercising thread on the sticky.
Have a great weekend ladies
Hugs :) BB
10-07-2006, 11:16 AM
Hi everyone. My son stopped and spent the night last night. He's not going to be happy when he wakes up. My Chocolate Labrador is in heat, so my DH borrowed a friends male Chocolate Lab to breed her with. Our dog stays inside, but we put the other one in the fence for last night. At 3AM he got out of the fence and being very sleepy, I let him inside and went back to bed. When I got up this morning, he had chewed up a pr. of my leather sandals, my son's Army cap,my son's expensive motorcycle jacket, 2 of grandson's stuffed animals and 1 houseshoe and 1 tennis shoe. All in 4 hrs. time. My son has his Army Drill next weekend and will have to go buy another cap before drill. I knew it wasn't my dog that chewed anything, because she was in the bedroom with me, where she always sleeps. I have now resecured my fence gate and put the male dog outside. What a pain this is turning out to be. To add insult to injury, this male dog is afraid of my female, and no breeding has occurred yet. Needless to say, I have a big mess to clean up now. I am just thankful he didn't chew up my new leg brace, that would have costed me a $1000.00 to replace. (It was in the living room, where he was at).
10-07-2006, 12:08 PM
Lily, Is this a new girlfriend?
10-07-2006, 12:20 PM
OMG, I was wrong. He did chew up my leg brace. My son just brought it to me and said that he woke up this morning and took it away from him. Part of the foot thing is missing and the top of both sides near the knee are chewed up. My DD said mom "he chewed up your space boot". He is banned from inside the house, that's for sure. I know that insurance won't pay for a new "space boot" so I will have my DH try to file down all the rough edges from the doggie teeth. What a pain in the butt this has turned out to be. When I let him in last night my only fear was that he might have an "accident" as he is normally an outside dog. I think cleaning up dog poo would have been preferable.
10-07-2006, 12:26 PM
carol, Yes my son has a new girlfriend. It's actually a girl that he had dated just prior to his last longterm relationship. They had remained friends for yrs. and had graduated together. He has actually only really seriously dated these 2 girls. We are friends with her family. She is really sweet. He had previously dated her for 6 months and I don't think they ever stopped caring for each other. Anyway he seems really happy. She is from a good family and there is no rush there to live together or anything. She is in college and works full time so they don't get to see each other very often.
10-07-2006, 12:35 PM
Lily, that must be a relief for you.
10-07-2006, 04:02 PM
carol, Yes it is a big relief that he is happy and not feeling pressured to live with a girlfriend or get married. He's not ready for this.
10-07-2006, 05:50 PM
Lily, I'm really discouraged today. Noone is writing on the Intuitive Eating thread anymore and I don't know where to turn.
10-07-2006, 09:42 PM
carol, I'm sorry I've never really followed that thread. Join in on any of the other threads that interest you.
10-08-2006, 10:08 AM
Good Sunday Morning Ladies:)
Going to W-I tomorrow and I having problems with CARBS. Don't know if I'm eating enough. Like I posted on Lilys thread[Carb counting] My range is 20-25 and on some days I'm eating only 16=18. Is that too low.I know that the induction starts with 20 grams.Don't want too lose fast ,but this is rediculous being stuck at 150 for several weeks.
Lilybelle-Your son is lucky:lucky: to have a wonderful girlfriend like that. How shes a keeper.
Carol-I'm new to the board . Didn't know that twe have a thread named Intuitive Eating. Inever seen it. Like Lillybelle said come join us on the daily.
Have a nice Sunday, have to get ready for church
Hugs :) BB

10-08-2006, 11:10 AM
Hey there guys. We are going to Sea world today, so i am going to get plenty of exercise. Just wanted to drop by and say hello. Still have no deffinate answer on whether i am going to be a mama, but i still have not seen aunt flow, so we will just have to see what happens.
10-08-2006, 11:46 AM
Good Morning Ladies!!
I am new to this thread but not to 3FC. I've been on and off Atkins for the past 2 years. Over that time I have done pretty good by loosing over 80lbs. This past week, I have got back to sticking with the Atkins menu and started going to my local gym. Which brings me to a question. Someone told me that there trainer said if you are on Atkins, that it is very dangerous to take spinning classes. I have never heard of it. Have any of you ladies or gents ever heard about this?
10-08-2006, 12:55 PM
Hi everyone, good Sunday morning.
BB, I think my son is very happy with his new girlfriend. I'm just happy that she isn't trying to rush him like the last one did. That just didn't work out at all. I am so proud that he is paying his rent, jeep payment and utilities responsibly and loving having his own apartment. I worried about this, but he's doing great. Plus, he still comes by and sees us every couple days. He came over yesterday and helped me unload and stack 2 ricks of firewood. His apt. is on a golf course and he and my DH love to play golf together. It's a little expensive for this area, but he is handling it well. He's only 20 and was just promoted to Supervisor at the warehouse he works at and got a hefty raise , plus gets his money each month for his Army Reserve Drills. He wants to go to the Highway Patrol Academy after he turns 21, like my DH did.
BB, I wouldn't worry about going under 20 carbs some days, I do the exact same thing and it has worked out fine. Some days, a lot of my food is protein and this makes it difficult to get 20 carbs. When I hit 157, I was stuck there for several weeks, but it did eventually come off and it will happen for you too. Just keep doing what you are doing. One thing that helped me break the plateau was adding jumping rope to my exercise routine, it was easy and inexpensive.
Sandra, Hi, Seaworld sounds like great fun. Hope you have a great time.
ssgtswife, Hi, sounds like you have done great with 80 lbs. lost. Woohoo, WTG. I haven't heard anything about not doing spinning with Atkins. I can understand this reasoning, maybe during induction if there is a problem with dizziness, but otherwise I wouldn't have a clue.
10-08-2006, 01:47 PM
Which brings me to a question. Someone told me that there trainer said if you are on Atkins, that it is very dangerous to take spinning classes. I have never heard of it. Have any of you ladies or gents ever heard about this?
:welcome3: to our little corner ssgtswife. As for your question....Ive never heard such a thing. I would ask for a specific reason....if they cant give you one. Ignore it. Like lilly said regarding a bit of dizzyness during induction while your body switches over....other than that, spinning, running, jogging, step classes etc .....for as long as Ive been here and on other l/c boards, Ive never heard of such a thing. So I wouldnt put much stock in it.
10-08-2006, 02:39 PM
Love Mike-Have a great time  at Disneyland today. You'll get plenty of exercising:exercise: done with all that walking.
Lilybelle-Thanks:thanks:I didn't know if I was doing it right. I do have a jump rope, and I will put it to use. I guess the next door neighbors will have to put up :yes:with bouncing noises for a while. :rofl:as I live in a townhouse.
ssgtswife-:welcome2: to the Atkins section of Fat chicks board. Congrats:congrats: on the 80 lb loss. Wish I could help you with your question:?: But I don't know:dunno: the answer.
Hugs :) BB
10-08-2006, 07:38 PM
BB, the neighbors won't think you're jumping rope, they will think you're having loud whoopie, LOL. Oh well, either one burns a lot of calories.
10-09-2006, 10:27 AM
Thanks :thanks: LILLYBELLE :)
Didn't do too good at WI this morning. Up 1.5 this morning. I noticed that since I'm low carbing,I tend to have a salty taste in my  mouth. Don't know if I should drink more water,as I'm up to 80 oz. 1/2 my weight.
I'm reading conflicting articles :book2: about water intake. Some experts say to flush water out with water, and than others are saying to eat diuretics like certain veggies[asparagus, cucumbers, lettuce & onions] Does anyone have any idea  if this is correct?????????
I read the sticky above in the FAQ thread that low carbing does tend to get us retaining water. Thats why I'm asking the :?: question. I'm on the Atkins WOE for 10 weeks and I'm stalling for about 4 wks. Was hoping:yes: for a great loss this week eating the right amts of carbs. Maybe :idea:I have to go back to Induction for a while, and work myself back to were I was lossing again.
Hugs :) BB
10-10-2006, 06:34 PM
I hope everyone is doing good this afternoon. I do want to thanks everyone for your thoughts about Atkins & spinning classes. I just wanted to see if any other fellow Atkins followers may have heard this. I have yet to find anything on the net so I guess if they can show me something documented, then... I will have to ignore it.
