Default channel 4 "super skinny" Is this true?

I just received this by email news alert. Is this true? Have you heard anything about it?

Quote:
A new TV show will challenge women to crash diet down to a size zero. The Channel 4 documentary is a ``super-skinny'' version of Super Size Me, in which a film-maker spent 30 days eating junk food.

The female volunteers will employ ``extreme weight loss methods'' to slim down.

They will attempt to emulate Hollywood stars such as the shockingly thin Nicole Richie in the hour-long show Super-Skinny Me: The Race to Size Zero.

A US size zero - equivalent to a British size four - has become the holy grail for image-conscious celebrities.

``This is a shock doc with a real sense of purpose,'' said a Channel 4 spokesman.

``It provides the perfect opportunity to debunk the current clamour for all things super-skinny.''

The documentary aims to expose the health dangers behind radical weight loss.

It is expected to air early next year.

In the 2004 hit Super Size Me, Morgan Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald's meals for an entire month.

The film charted his resulting physical and emotional decline.

Hmmmmmmmmm Channel 4 can be pretty edgy, and who knows, it could well be, but I would expect they would put a "spin" on it to show why it's a bad idea. On the other hand, it's an extremely irresponsible method.

I've emailed them to see if they will verify the rumour, I doubt they'll be in touch but you never know.

This was one of the main stories on the news on the radio this morning, so it sounds like it must have some basis in truth.

God that's shocking, I hope this dosent get made, it will only show people who are already vunerable how to stave themselves even more, and I don't think its a very positive thing to be putting on TV with so many yound girls already feeling the presure to be supper skinny.

(Sorry rant over - I had a terrible childhood and suffered from both blumia and anorexia and it took years to get myself back on track, its only now that I feel safe and in control enough to do something about the weight I packed on taking anti dep. tablets)

It's on the bbc news site.
Quote:
Health campaigners have expressed concerns over a Channel 4 show encouraging women to go on crash diets. In Super-Skinny Me: The Race to Size Zero, several female journalists will try out various extreme diets.
Quote:
Channel 4 confirmed that medical support and guidance will be on hand for the volunteers, who will attempt to slim down to a size double zero - the US equivalent of a UK size 2.
Rather them than me. I presume channel 4 will say it's to show how bad it is blah blah.

No doctor would agree with it so it would be at their own risk. I bet there are loads stupid enough to take part though. You can never be too thin or too stupid apparently...
