I am looking forward to hearing what OP food just "makes it" for you. I have discovered using the vanilla LA shake powder, 12 strawberries, 1/2 c soy milk, 1/2 c water, crushed ice, splenda, all in the blender just makes the evening time so much more bearable when my husband is eating his ice cream. I work until 7pm ,and the time after work was always my binge time.My shake really helps. Someday I will have to lessen the evening eating, but can't do it yet.

What a fab idea. I am going to have your shake tonight.
My fav lunch is a green salad with grilled tomatoes on the side, 1 triscuit crumbled on top, 1 hard boiled egg with a dollop of tuna made with fake mayo and celery in the middle of the plate. It is so filling!

The shakes count as lites, if you are on a plan w/lites. That does sound good! I may have to pick up some shake mix today too!
I have to say that since LAWL, I have come to LOVE turkey burgers - almost more than regular burgers.

My favorite evening time snack is frozen blueberries. I dump 3/4C or so in a bowl, sprinkle them with a packet of splenda and then dip them one by one in FF cool whip. It fills the hand-to-mouth act of eating something, gets one more pesky fruit in, and lets me have a sweet treat while the rest of the family may be having ice cream. My 10 year old son now gets a bowl of berries too, instead of ice cream!

sauteed apples are my FAVORITE treat. Dice an apple, sautee in butter Pam, add splenda brown sugar and cinnamon and let carmelize, then top with FF cool whip--YUM!!!

Ooh Boo'sMom! That sounds yummy! I'll have to try that tonight!
Last night I made a smoothie w/frozen strawberries, blueberries, a splash of milk, and 6oz of LF yogurt topped w/coolwhip. It was FABULOUS. Better than a bowl of icecream.

Hard to believe but 3 pieces of melba toast and some natural peanut butter seems to be mine these days...wouldn't have thought this one month ago...

I also make a shake at night. I use the la lite vanilla powder also and I put in it 3/4 cup frozen Blackberries/ I just put a little sweetner and 10 0z of water. Makes for a great shake and I count it as 1 fruit and 1 la lite. It's great and very filling.

If you use the soy milk, it can be either a protein 1/2 or 1/2 dairy for the shake.

I'm not really a snacker, but I have found that tuna salad and veggie burgers are my "must haves", along with the LaTortilla Factory low carb tortillas (50 cals, 1 S for the entire tortilla), 4" wheat mini pitas (split in half for a great "bun"), and the Alternative Bagels. It makes me feel like I'm not on a "diet" since I can eat like everyone else.

I can't find the tortillas that you talk about. Our Publix or Albertsons don't have them .I am stuck cutting a 6" in half, they are 90 cal for the whole.

I found the Tortilla Factory tortillas near the deli counter of my grocery store. They were on their own display rack - funny, I've actually had them before, yet when I read Cassi's post about them I thought "darn, I'm never gonna find them in my store". I never realized that was the brand name.

Try going to their website and looking for a store in your area. Also, talk to the Publix manager. A lot of times Publix will order something if you request it.

My favorite thing is ground turkey, but more specifically meatballs that I make from ground turkey. I use a little egg beaters and either a shake of breadcrumbs or light bread crushed up into it. It tastes divine "fried" in olive oil flavored pam. They are my OP "comfort food" especially when I'm studying.

I found another great snack. Sugar free jello and top it with 1/2 c yogurt. I use the plain fat free with added splenda and vanilla, but the flavored yogurt also is great.

My favorite is the LAWL Chocolate Shake (counts as a lite) with 1 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter (1/2 protein) 4oz of water or milk and 1/2 cup of crushed iced. I blend it until smooth and then put it in the freezer for 30 minutes...fills my tummy and satisfy's my sweet tooth.

My PM Treat is 2 Tbs of Trader Joe's Better N Peanut Butter. I count it as a starched b/c there are 100 calories 2.5 grams fat 4 grams of protien and 13 grams of carbs per 2 Tbs serving. Cassie, does this sound right?
I also will have a piece of fruit and 7 almonds. A little trick I use is to eat the TJ's Better N Peanut Butter with a baby spoon and take really small bites. It makes it last longer that way and much more satisfing.
I will also have 1 or 2 large mugs of flavored caffine free tea sweetened with stevia. The tea has really saved me from snacking late.

Cassi- I also like the alternative bagels by Western Bagels. How do you count them?
bizlawchik
11-13-2006, 09:15 AM
I count the alternative bagels as 1S since they are under 2oz, which is what you can have according to our book.
As far as the peanut butter, I'm clueless on that one. I can ask the nutritionist, though.
