I am too, but you are at least 8" taller than me. Argh.
Back from vacation, getting back into the groove of things. Got sick the first day and am still sick. Staying home today to work and get better. It is lovely here, but the demolition of a very nice home behind us to build two townhomes is reason enough to consider hacking and sniffling at work.
Too depressing.
Other than that, I'm on a one month challenge to lose 6 lbs before going to Paris on the 26th of October.
Susan, thanks for getting the thread started. Hope you had a fun weekend. Hooray for you for getting into the 140's. That is super! I know that you have tried very hard.
lala, welcome back. Was the trip nice. Tell us about what you saw. You can lose those 6 by your trip to Paree!!
I had a busy weekend. Played in a golf tournament on Sunday; didn't play well, but had fun nonetheless. Lots of rehearsals and then on Sunday started losing my voice. There is something going around. I took off a half-day yesterday to rest it. The play opens on Friday and I'm very concerned; my voice comes and goes. The director has me talking quietly, but my part (unfortunately) does a lot of yelling. I've done all of my usual home remedies and they're working a little.
Hello to Melissa, Pam, Austingal, Julie and other lurkers.
Susan: Congratulations!!! You've really stuck with it to get into the 140's--keep up the great work!!!
Lala: Why oh why do developers feel the need to raze a perfectly good building to make way for something else??? We have a developer here who is tearing down a beautiful old building (which had tenants) saying that more parking is needed and no one was interested in purchasing the building. Funny thing is that he evicted the current tenants (restaurant, office, shoe place) and 2 days after they were out the wrecking crew came in. Progress, right. I hope you're feeling better--it kind of sounds like the bug that was going around here. I'm finally starting to feel better.
Lisa: I hope your voice gets better--it's so frustrating! I had that problem last week and I'm finally at the tail end of this thing that I had. I'm still tired but it's a definite improvement over how I felt last week!
My weekend was busy playing catch up--although I did manage to have a little fun as well. Went up to watch the rugby match and then went to the boat house party afterwards--it rained a little but it stopped enough to watch the game. Caught up on the laundry and the other stuff I didn't get done while I was down and out. Took my car in this morning to get the paint off of it and I've got a 2007 Yaris to drive around in for 2 days. It's definitely smaller than my Corolla but it handles well. It'll take a little getting used to where everything is!
It's a beautiful fall day here--60 degrees and sunny. My walking buddy and I went out at noon for a nice 2-mile walk--it was great! I would have liked being down at the peninsula for a longer walk but a short one is better than none at all!
I had to call the doctor. This darn throat thing is driving me bananas. My voice is in and out. My throat is burning and it's been going on for 5 days. I've done all my usual home remedies and bought some OTC stuff. I hope the doctor gives me a Zpack or something.
Hello everyone - I have been out of the loop for a couple weeks. Between being slammed at work (with work) and my children keeping me busy everyday of the week it is hard to keep up with some things. To top it off I went to Atlanta last week for work and now it is catch up. I really need to think weight loss, I gain 0.4 lb while in Atlanta but I made careful choices. I really would like to loose 5-10 more pounds even though I have been maintaining for about 4 months now. I am just 1 pound under my goal weight.
My trip to Atlanta was every educational but the airline lost my luggage so I was without for 2 days (I had to buy clothes and everything while I was there)
Lisa -- yikes. Take it easy. My brother is a voice specialist, wish you were in Milwaukee.
Julie - welcome back. You'll lose that fluff in a minute. I travel 150K a year by air and its the plane, I swear.
How was your meeting/conference?
Did you go to the aquarium?
Hi to everyone else!
I'm trying to get on track here at work. I may be stuck in Boulder for a few days in the middle of next month, meaning that every freaking week I have a transcontinental or transatlantic flight (mostly for fun, but whose stupid idea was that?) and tons of work that needs to get done.
My eating is on track and so is my exercise and water, so I'm a happy camper!
Julie, I'm glad you enjoyed Atlanta, except for them losing your luggage. Was it fun to shop for clothes??? The airlines have lost my luggage for only one night. As lala asked, did you get to the aquarium. When I was there, there were no tickets. It's a popular place.
lala, you sure do travel a lot.
Went to the doctor and was told that I have a virus--oh great, just wait it out. That doesn't help me with my play opening on Friday. What a mess. Also, the scale at the doctor's office (never liked those scales) was not my friend. I don't even want to talk about it.
Hi everyone! Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day with sun and temps hitting 74...this morning it's rainy and a cool 55!
I went to my WW meeting at noon yesterday, felt good/thin and posted a 2.6# gain...aaaahhhh! Back up to 145...this is killin' me. I need to figure out what to do and go from there.
Julie: A WW leader/friend was in Atlanta for the same conference...I wonder if you may have met her. She lost 209# on WW and looks fantastic. The way I look at it any more, just being at Goal is a good thing and sometimes that's all I can ask. I do like being around 140 and lately it's been a struggle to just stay around 142. Some days are easier than others. Hopefully things will quiet down a little for you.
Lisa: I can totally relate to your dilemma with your voice--it's the same thing I had last week and it takes about 5 days for it to quiet down. I still have a little "huskiness" to my voice but at least I can talk. Do you have to sing at all in the play? Just rest it as much as you can and that seems to help. I dont' weigh in at the doctor's office--I just give them my WW book and tell them I don't get on the scale more than once a week. I don't like the doctor's scales either.
Lala: Good for you for being on track! I'm working on being more on track. It's rough sometimes but I need to refocus and re-evaluate what I'm doing, etc.
Work is pretty quiet and I'm scheduling time off (I have 11 1/2 days to use by December 30th). I've decided I'm taking 1/2 days on Wednesdays from now until the end of November so that'll be nice. I've also schedule time off for my trip to Chicago in December and that still leaves me 4 days Got my car back yesterday and it looks great; the collision place that worked on it also touched up some dings and scratches so it looks great. They also cleaned it.
Melissa, I'm so sorry about your gain--how frustrated you must be. Good WW vibes going out to you. Thanks regarding my voice. It is much better today, but I'm being careful. I don't sing in the play as it is a comedy, but I have to yell at various other actors during the show (that should be interesting). All right, what happened to your car?? Did I miss something?
It was cool here this morning--65. It felt so nice. It's in the 80's this afternoon, but not as humid. Tomorrow is an off Friday, so DH and I will play golf and then the play opens tomorrow night. On Saturday a GF and I are going to that place I told you about where you put together entrees. Then I think we'll do some shopping. Sunday is a birthday dinner with another GF after the play. Yep--another busy weekend.
Lisa: Glad to hear your voice is getting better. Baby it and it will be okay. It's frustrating because the virus has to run its course and I wasn't very patient My car had gotten spray painted back in August and I couldn't get it in until this month. The car looks great now.
We're still hovering at 54 degrees and it's still raining. My friend and I took our walk indoors today--it felt good to walk.
Its about 72 here today! Nice and coolish. I am working from home again and amazingly getting things accomplished.
believe it or not.
Melissa -- I would be bummed about the gain as well. Especially if you are feeling good. I would say, blame it on the weather juju and keep on track for next week.
Lisa -- I love the idea of every other friday off. DP had it and loved it, I guess I could try it but we're not allowed to officially. Then again, I'm not supposed to work from home either...
Julie -- what kind of work do you do, I can't remember..
DP is west of spokane, so she'll be home today. My house will stay clean for approximately 5 hours before she descends. Sigh.
At least, Ernest the puppy does not resurface until tomorrow late.
I'm back home after a very nice vacation in Maui. The weather was beautiful and the people very friendly. I'm exhausted though, it's tough adjusting back to east coast time. We spent the entire week in Maui with the exception of Sunday when we took a flight to Ohau to see Pearl Harbor and tour the island. The Arizona Memorial was amazing. Went on to Waikiki Beach and a tour of Honolulu. Back in Maui we toured the tropical gardens, spent time on the beaches, we stayed in Wailea and the beaches were breathtaking and went to a couple of lua's. I don't even want to think about getting on the scale yet.
It sounds like you all have been busy. Lisa I hope your voice is better. I don't like doctor's scales either. Melissa how did you like the Yaris? I've seen a couple in our office parking lot and they are cute little cars. Lala hope your feeling better and adjusting after your vacation. I bet Ernest missed you. Susan congrats on getting back into the 140's, you worked hard and it's paid off!
I think it's time for me to take a nap. Glad I'm not going back to work until MOnday. Talk to you all tomorrow.
