Default How far did you walk or run?

Do you ever go for a bike ride, jog or walk, and have no idea how far you went? I used to get in the car and drive the route, but sometimes I'm on paths where I can't drive.

I found a fantastic site called MapMyRun.com which allows you to plot your course then tells you how far you went. It works as an overlay on google maps, so even my tucked-away suburban roads are on it! What fun!

That website is way cool. It even allowed me to calculate the distance I ran through parks (which I could never figure out before because, of course, I can't drive my car through the park).

I don't do much running outside anymore, but it's interesting to know how far I was running and to compare that with the distance the treadmill says I go.

Thanks, Mel!

That is a really nice site Mel... I was using this one gmap-pedometer.com/ ... I like yours better because the map is bigger and they also calculate your pace time and calories burned all on the same page, now I won't have to go to another site ... THANKS!!

I haven't looked yet but hope it has Canada on it. I am doing a kickstart walking program through the Recreation Centre and it shows me a maps of my city and I can plot my walking areas and it shows the distance walked and the steps. After it is done I don't imagine there will be a website any more so a new one would be handy.
