SBD Frequently Asked Questions - Phase 1 - need bread substitute or alternative

Help. I'm on SBD again after a year off it (started, lost 20 lbs, went on vacation, then the holidays hit, yada yada yada). So, I gained the 20 lbs back and am now back on SBD. I've been on it this time for 5 days and I've lost 5 lbs already.

I need an alternative/substitute for BREAD. I never realize how much I use bread until I go back to changing my eating habits with SBD.

I've heard that you can use chickpeas, mash them, and make crackers or something like it, but what are the actual directions? Also, wouldn't it make sense that you could make black bean crackers/tortilla shells?

I just need something to have with meals when everyone else in the house is having bread (it gets wet because I drool over it...). ;-)

Thanks!! Any suggestions would be welcome.

Beth, you made it through 5 days this time, and the whole two weeks last time... YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! If it helps think of what that bread is doing to your GI .... otherwise, if you really cant , move to ph2 where whole grain bread is allowed... or maybe to another healthy eating plan:)

Okay, thanks, I needed that pep talk. I am NOT a slave to bread - I am in control of what I eat.

I'll hang tough. ;)

I'm also on SB (within my WW points, a "Beach Watcher"), and I too am craving non Phase 1 allowed foods (sweets, I'm stressed about job hunting).....first time since I started on Saturday, too!

But hang in there! We can do this! I'm also down 5+ lbs in 5 days....we gotta stick with it!

I'm here for you, we all are :D
