Good morning all. Lovely meadow rom p this a.m. and then a walk down to the Lake. There is that lovely nip of fall in the air and some trees on the top of Willow's Mountain have started to turn. I love fall but am also sad when I think of our long hard winter on the way.

Got my preserving (this batch) done yesterday. Discovered that my pear suppy had shrunk considerably - squirrels and DH were at them. I substituted some peaches and green grapes in my Fiesta Pear Salsa and it looks like a winner. Remind me not to store pears in the barn again!

Today I go around to the seven elementary schools in the area to give the kiddies their prizes that they won for schoolwork at Delta Fair. This is part of my job I just love! Most of the prizes are 2 or 3 bucks but the kids are as happy as if they had a million. I did up over 100 envelopes over the weekend and kept thinking of today as I did that drudge job.

Gonna throw in another load of laundry before I take off. The coffee is on the stove - help yourself! A bit cool on the deck but it's up to you!

I have to go to an executive meeting of my Women's Institute today but I really hate to leave the tv. Not that I can do anything to help other than send out prayers for the victims and their families.
Another lovely day here. I noticed my maple tree has a few leaves that have turned red. A definite nip of fall in the air.
Not much else to say. My heart is too full of grief for those poor people in NYC and Wash. DC.

Hello Friends,

I hope that you are all safe and your loved ones are safe as well. My PTO meeting has been cancelled tonight, I will be going to my church for a prayer vigil.

How do I explain this to my boys?
