Morning everyone!!!

Aqua Thank you for starting a new thread! It's fine by me. I don't think it really matters who starts it. I guess just whomever logs in first on Sunday. :)
I liked NY too. She was a little nuts, but there's no way she would have done what some of these other ladies are doing. As weird as she was, she seemed to have a certain classiness. I can certainly understand why her mother wanted to bring her home though! If it had been one of my nieces, I would have kidnapped her. Snuck her out while the producers and Big Rick weren't looking!

Sapphire - Welcome back chicky! I'm sorry. :( It's my fault. I brought up Flav. I just couldn't help it. Don't know what I was thinking. Maybe one day I can get the help I need... ;)
Hey, three days is nothing to sneeze at. It's an excellent start. You'll build on from there. Yeah, I know you're gonna get us. Aqua, Bonnie, Danielle and me. The exercise bug is biting. ;) I'm glad because exercise is crucial. I don't know if it's true, but I read somewhere that not exercising is as bad for your heart as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. I don't really buy into that, but reading it did make me think of how the heart could be helped tremendously be exercising. Exercise can lower the heart rate and allow our hearts to function without having to work as hard.
My goal is to run five minute miles. I have a long way to go, but that's what I want. When I was in high school two track coaches begged me to run cross-country. I could run fast too, but they didn't need sprinters. Everyone wanted to be a sprinter on the track team. But I would never join the track team. I just liked running. I would just get on the track and run about 3 miles when I was in high school just because I felt like it. It wasn't even a big deal and I loved doing it.
Let us know if you do any of the rock climbing. I've always wanted to try it.

I'll check in a little later. I'm a bit sore after yesterdays workout. I love it! It's a good soreness.

I hope everyone enjoys the holiday. We're supposed to go to my parents' tomorrow. Today there's a Bridezillas marathon that starts at 10. I love, love, love that show.

09-03-2006, 10:31 AM
Wanted to say Hi to all my chickadees. I won't be back until tomorrow night. I will check back in later tomorrow. Have a great Holiday!

:coffee: Good Morning Ladies!!!!
sapphire35- Hi! You're welcome. :) Good for you!!! You're already getting that heart pumping and the fat is melting right off!!! :carrot: I hope your weekend will be relaxing and wonderful!

Amany- Yeah, NY was one of the better ones for sure. I love that soreness too! I feel accomplished for a little while. Guess what? I bought Billy Blanks Boot Camp last night!!! I got a 2 DVD thing. One is cardio Boot camp, one is lower body boot camp. I'm gonna add both to my daily tread. Speaking of smoking, my neighbors smoke outside. No problem, but my windows are open and it comes right into my livingroom (where my treadmill is) Reminds me of Ms. Stone again. Have a pastrami sandwich, carrot cake, and a smoke then go walk two miles and blame the heart condition..... Why did I just start on that? Oh well, when that comes on later I hope she will get some help and crack down on herself. I just don't know if she's really got her heart into losing weight. You know how that goes, you know when you're really in it for real. I just don't see that "fever" in her.

n2luvnlife- Hi hon! Look forward to seeing you tomorrow. :)

09-03-2006, 12:52 PM
Wow! I'm amazed at the volume of posts this group has! I'm new to this but will try to post at least once per week.

I weighed in this morning at 217.6--very pleased about that. Still working on increasing my average intake of water to 100 ounces per day. Have a great week everyone (I'll weigh myself Wednesday morning, but might not be able to post until the weekend.)

09-03-2006, 01:24 PM
DeborahB- Hi! :) Yep, we are chatterboxes around these parts, but it keeps us motivated to do what we set out to do. Don't feel intimidated by how much we gab- just jump right in whenever you feel like it! I know just about every woman has the gift of gab... ;)

Happy to hear about your weigh in. You're right, water is a very good thing.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! Take care!

Hun.e.B.- Thanks for the link up!

09-03-2006, 01:44 PM
Good Sunday morning everyone!! Is this weekend flying by? Good thing its a 3-dayer! Today will be homework day for me, dh is supposed to take the girls to the waterpark. My goal is to get a walk in today too! There is absolutely no reason not to! Besides I gotta start crankin out some exercise minutes for the challenge. Otherwise you ladies are gonna leave me in the dust!

Sara...I'm glad to hear that it was just a miscommunication on your neighbor walking with someone else. I would have felt the same way though. Keep on walking girl!! You are doing great!

Tricia...good to see you again!! Have you been back to classes for a week now? I was so ready to go back its been nice, now I get to send my girls back this week! The summer just got too long for me, but I didnt take summer classes either! I hope everything is going GREAT for you!! Keep making those babysteps! are so on the ball!! thanks so much for getting us going right this morning! Have you read the "character" bios on vh1 website for flav? OMG its funny! I have the SAME problem with my neighbors! Drives me insane! We live in a duplex and my bedroom window is right below the front doors where they smoke and at night we like to open the window and put a fan in it, so it blows the smoke into our room. GRRR it makes me so mad!

Amanda...did dh enjoy his concert last night? Little richard..that is eclectic! LOL...he's so funny on that singing show as a judge! Would you believe I've never watched all of starwars? none of em?

Trish...3 days of exercise is still 3 days!!! dont sell yourself short!! You did GREAT!!! And you can build from there!! Keep on rocking girl!

Hi Lori....we miss you! Hurry back!!

Deborah...HELLO!!! Its so great to see you again! We are a chatty bunch but thats what makes us so great!! Besides there is strength in numbers! The more people you've got standing behind you cheering you on, the better you are going to do and the stronger you'll be!!! Congrats on the loss!!!! Yay!!! See you are doing something right!!! Keep up the good work!!! You are shrinking!!

You know what I love about our group I think Amanda touched on this before, but I love how smooth it is for new people to just jump right in and its like they were always here. And I love that there is no leader, noone up there trying to tell us all what to do and how to do it, we are just friends, working together and walking across that finish like arm in arm! Danielle and I were in a group years ago, it was such an amazing group but I was the leader, well me and another girl. When I look back at it was so stressful! And if I didnt do something the group stalled. Here, we all work together to keep things flowing and I just LOVE that! Okay done being corny! LOL!!

I hope everyone has the best day today!!! I'll be off reading finance, philosophy and accounting...whoopie! LOL!!

09-03-2006, 02:35 PM
Hun.e.B- Thanks! :) I love it here too. I think what I needed was to be part of a team. I didn't know it until I got here, but it was the best thing I've done in a while. I don't think that's corny at all. Losing weight is so hard. Physically and emotionally. Having somewhere to turn to where people are doing the same thing let's us know we are normal, the struggle is real, but we can overcome it.
I did indeed read the bios. :D Too funny. I watched "driven" on VH1 this morning, and it was about Flavor Flav. It was pretty good. He is a cool guy, and talented- but there is no way I would do what these goldigg- er, I mean girls are doing. lol... nope. I do not believe all of them think Flav's hot. Come on... he has something to offer in terms of having humor and talent, but speaking for myself physical attraction is never going to be there. Bah, TV. I got sucked right into that show.

09-03-2006, 03:32 PM
hi guys how is everyone yep ill be watching flavor of love tonight.
anyway it feels like a great start for the new week even though my mine do not officially start until monday.....? i have a bad habit of skipping meals, sometimes im just not hungry do anyone else go through this? i watched the discovery health channel and it was about a lady who lost alot of weight by eating her dinner in the am and her breakfast in the pm i kind of lost the concept of that... i thought about trying the 6 week body makeover concept basically portein and fruit for breakfast and snack, protein carb & for lunch and pm snack then protien carb and veggie for dinner.... but im not sure about it i may just stick the the weight watchers... anyway back to my original ? is it really that bad to not eat when your not hungry? i mean alot of weight loss pills are suppose to decrease appetite i know phentermine completly takes away your appetite so im a little confused i get really discouraged when i miss a meal

sorry so long......

09-03-2006, 03:40 PM
Good Afternoon Gang!

You guys have been chatty this morning! Aqua thanks for starting us off right this morning!!!

I was a VERY naughty girl last night, mexican food..'nuff said! It was very very good, and I have to be honest, I didn't exactly watch myself on any of it. lol Today's a new day and all that, so I'm fine with it. I had planned on taking today off from working out, but I figure with all the crap I ate last night, probably best to just get going with something and try and minimize the damage. I am just relieved that I don't hurt everywhere anymore!
I do have to say that yesterday all day (up until dinner that is, lol), I was really paying attention to hungry pangs and just urges to eat cause I was idle. Makes a huge difference! I am still a major work in progress with this though, learning what real hunger is does not come easy to me. PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION is my motto! :)

Everyone have a super afternoon! Busy getting dh off to work here in a minute so I best get goin. Talk to you soon!

09-03-2006, 03:56 PM
Good Afternoon! I got almost all of the shopping done for the PTA teachers breakfast, costco is closed tomorrow so had to do it today. Which is okay gives me all day tomorrow to cut up all that fruit. i couldnt believe how expensive oranges were!!

Aqua...I agree with you, in my opinion to find a mate there has to first be an attraction, I'm not saying that you cant be attracted to his energy or his personality but for the long haul..cmon! girls! You crack me up! How many calories does laughing burn?

Mia...I think the deal with not eating when you are hungry is to learn to listen to your body. Your body will tell you when its time to eat. And with alot of supplements people are looking for something to help them to never eat. Well your body needs fuel. You'll do nothing but burn your lean muscle tissue and retain all the fat you can if you dont eat at all. I'm a big believer that if you arent hungry why eat...I wish I practiced that more often. But at the same time you do gotta make sure you are eating something. And also, if you wait until you are HUNGRY then you run the risk of overeating. You just gotta find the right balance. I tried phentermine years ago and it didnt work for me. But I was on another medication at the same time that most likely counteracted it. I had a friend who lost about 30 lbs with phentermine. So did that confuse you some more? LOL! ate your birthday dinner...there is no guilt in that!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Today is a new day, onward and downward!!

Alright, I'm off to the nursury to find a nice little plant for 12 new teachers at our school and then off to find 400 ice cream cones for the PTA ice cream social...oh and did I mention I've got homework coming out my ears?! LOL!! have a lovely afternoon!

09-03-2006, 05:17 PM
miafluker- I confess, I typically only eat dinner these days. I don't feel like eating so I don't. Oh, I'll be watching Flavor of Love!!!

Sugar-N-Spice- aw, you're welcome.... I love Mexican food too, so I feel ya on that! Like you say, progress, not perfection.

Hun.e.B- Laughing... hmm, not sure! I like to laugh though, so I like that!

09-03-2006, 05:25 PM
Found this article on laughing burning calories. Interesting......

09-03-2006, 05:55 PM
:cb:I completed another six day exercise week!!! :cb:

Monday: Donna Richardson's 30 Days to Firmer Arms and Abs & Leslie Sansone Walk and Jog.

Tuesday Donna Richardson's 30 Days to Firmer Arms and Abs, Leslie Sansone Walk and Jog & Pilates for Abs

Thursday - 1.5 Miles on my lunch hour

Friday - Leslie Sansone Walk and Jog

Saturday :drill: Harvey Walden's Fighting Fit,Fighting Fat :drill: & Pilates for Abs

Today 45 minutes of shadow boxing and jogging in place in intervals

I'll have to seriously step things up next week, but I'm still proud of myself!! :)

I saw today's episode of Flavor of Love. I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't watched yet. All I will say is that he got rid of one of the women that got on my nerves. There are two more I'd love to see go. One is a really combative one (she got the first clock this time) and a trashy one. But I guess most of them could be considered trashy!

Hi Lori! Great to see you!

Aqua - I don't see a determined spirit in Angie either. It's like what Ted was yelling about last week. None of this is easy. 3 pounds.... 6 pounds... 4 pound.... None of it is easy. And no one can have it done for them. At least not in a way that's healthy.
I'm with you on Flav! If you were having a fun get together, you'd want him there. He's funny, full of personality and just the life of the party. I even get the feeling that he's a genuinely nice guy. But no way is he hot! I think he's sort of old to like all that drama though. But, he's getting paid for it. Plus he's enjoying more fame than he's ever had before, so I'm sure it's more than worth it to him.
I agree that we have a fabulous group of ladies. It does my heart good to have a group of people helping me celebrate my successes. It also motivates me and makes me feel good to hear of those people who cheer me on having their own success as well. I love it all.

:welcome: Deborah! - You can post whenever you want. We're really glad to have you. You're going to to absolutely fall in love with us. :) Congrats on the weight loss!

Melissa - Our busiest chick!! I hope you're taking your vitamins!
I also love that we don't have a leader. Just a group of great ladies encouraging and supporting one another.
My husband came back about 15 minutes after he left. It was just raining too much. He was sort of crushed. He's never been able to see Little Richard in concert, and since he's in his 80s, who knows if he'll tour again? He actually wanted Little Richard to marry us. He had me write to him. I got an autographed photo from his fan club

Hi Mia - I think that you should not force yourself to eat, but if it's been hours, maybe have a small healthy snack. Just to keep your metabolism going and to prevent your body from burning lean muscle like Melissa said.
I'm not that knowledgeable about suppressants. Sorry.

Danielle Ah.... Mexican. Good stuff! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think of birthdays and holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter as free days.
"Progress not perfection.". I like that!

Well, ma'ladies, I think I'm starting to feel better. I haven't seen the outside since Friday though! It's bugging the heck out of my husband that all I want to do is stay in. I'm going to leave the house on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but I'm enjoying just bumming around right now. Most of the day I've been watching the Bridezilla marathon. It surprises me that some of these couples still end up getting married. This one woman had her husband to be in tears. Literally. I mean the man was boo-hooing.

I'll check in a little later. Bye everyone!

09-03-2006, 06:22 PM
I cannot believe that is already 515 on Sunday evening... I will tell you the days do fly by....I was just thinking how much I am going to miss the BBQ. We are having BBQ chicken and grilled asparagus for dinner.... then there is basically no clean-up(BEST PART)... I don't know what I will do when I have to go back to cleaning the forman grill:mad:

Hun.e.B. -- actually I just started on Friday, but we havent been able to get into the school because they discovered that there was mold in 10 of the classrooms and the football team room. I am supposed to check the website to find out if we got a clean bill of health this weekend. So fingers are crossed. I cannot stand that my classroom is not ready to go and since I new to the school, I have been driving around with a ton of school supplies in my back fun. I could have used a bit more summer. I was in grad school Monday thru Thursday until august 4.. I think I would have been okay if this week hadn't been so miserable.

Amanda-- I too already watched the episode... and I must admit there are others I would have prefered to say adios to... I do wonder where they find some of these women...Also, you had previously mentioned bridezilla...I checked all over today for the marathon... what channel is that show on..I was dying to see it. Congrats on doing so much working out. I am hoping that I can get myself in gear once I officially start back at school.

Talk to you all soon... :carrot:

09-03-2006, 06:27 PM
Hello Deborah and welcome to our group. Jest a quick note that I will be back hopefully tomorrow Have not been on plan for two days so much going on here will be back in the am and ready for the plan again.

09-03-2006, 06:40 PM
Butterfly50- Hi!!! Hope all is well today!!!

TriciaK - I love BBQ too! Got some football stuff coming up....*shaking* Gonna be reallllyyy hard to let go of the

Sugar-N-Spice- That's the best news I've had all day!!!! Now quick... tell some jokes!!!!

If there is anything innapprriate on this link I apologize. I read a few things and thought they were funny, but didn't read them all.

50 WAYS TO LEAVE YOUR BLUBBER (to the tune of "50 ways to leave your lover" by Paul Simon)

Amany- Way to go on the workouts!!! Wow!!!:carrot: You are a video kinda person, huh? I can see why now, since I got myself a DVD. I LOVE Billy Blanks. He is really motivating. You better hang on woman!!! I'm steppin' up my game too! :lifter: Sapphire said this morning she coming after us too, so the friendly competition should be good. :D Are you doing the body measurement thing for September? I'm gonna go for it (that's why all the "competitive" talk ;) ). I put my ,measurements up last night, and we are using our workout minutes as a tie breaker if there is a tie.

Ack! I thought I was gonna have to cover my eyes because I didn't see F.O.L. Yet!!! lol.... I can't wait!!!! The thing I like most about Flav is that what he asks for is not complex. All he wants is someone who is honest. Basically, I see him having them do silly stuff for show, but when he talks to them he asks them a question and only wants honest and diect responses. Like, he asked Crazy at KFC if she could see herself with him, and she said she could see herself "happy". :?: And he said, "that's not what I asked you..." I notice stuff like that all the time that shows me what these chicks are about. Competition, money, and getting on TV, and possibly to meet Flav for his celebrity. I can understand that aspect because you can't really fall in love this way, but they could at least tell him the truth. They saw the show before, and if they were smart they could play that card easy if they wanted to win the compretition. Don't fight with the other girls, and talk to Flav like a buddy you trust. They try to hard to prove their "love" and it backfires... lol...

I haven't seen Bridezilla! The title reminds me of my Dad's girlfiend though... she is trying sooo hard to force him into marriage. I think she's nuts and makes my Dad unhappy, but I only say so when he's really upset with her. Can't tell a grown man what's best for him, but he'll know if he gives in and marries her. I bet she just wants someone to support her. I hate women that play head games (and men- but a lot of women are pretty bad about head games). Oh well, like I told my Dad, plenty of sweet loving angel fish in the sea. No need to get stuck with a carp.

09-03-2006, 07:32 PM
Tricia - Oh yeah. There are definitely some other ladies Flav should get rid of. Bridezillas is on the WE channel.
Don't worry. Everything will fall into place. You'll hit your stride. Work, school, exercise. Work, school, exercise. :)

Hey Bonnie. Don't worry about being off plan for right now. You're in a stressful situation. It's temporary though. Glad you got a chance to check in. See ya tomorrow chicky!

Aqua - I love your humor! It's hard not to worry about the choices family members make. I hope your dad is able to find a good woman who makes him happy.
Uh oh... If you're stepping up your game then I need to get on the ball major! I have to keep up with you. I don't even own 5 pound handweights, let alone work out with them. I was just thinking the other day that I need to get some 4 pound ones.
Yeah, videos are sort of a staple for me. I love the other stuff like skating, water aerobics (until my skin protested) and I really want to tackle those stairs and eventually the track. But with a video, I can be as versatile as I'd like and they are perfect for homebodies like me. :D
I'm not going to do the challenge. I'm going to sit it out and be a spectator. I do think it's a great idea and I'll be cheering you guys on. I think we'll see some serious fat melting and body toning over the next month.
I have Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover downloaded. Now I'm going to have to listen to it. The song is in my head now.
Let me know how you like the Billy Blanks. I only have his first workout video.

I'm off for now. BBL!!

09-03-2006, 09:46 PM
Good evening ladies. I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far. I did a wholel of nuthin today it seems. LOL I watched a Flip That House marathon while I folded laundry and that's about it for my day. OH, yeah I did get in about 30 min. on the bike too so I guess not all is lost. Being very laid back feels weird to me, I am usually focused on cleaning cleaning cleaning if I'm home on the weekends. Just didnt wanna this time it seems. LOL

Lori, it was great to see you, can't wait to hear what you've been up to!

Bonnie, I was sad to read about what's been happening with your family. That is really a tough situation to be in--coming from the step side of it all. I personally don't think you are being harsh or overly expectant. I think maybe a good sit down would be in order to see if maybe he can get a clue? Maybe he honestly just doesn't get it? In any case, i really hope that you don't let this stress you too much more so you can get back on track with your great exercise and eating plan. Remember hon, YOU matter too!

Tricia, hey ya chicky! I cannot believe whats going on at school!! Yowza that is some serious stuff, ain't it? Dont stress too much hon, it's not your fault that you can't do your room up right just yet. You can only do so much! Hang in there, soon enough the ball will get rollin and you'll wish you didnt have to go in at all. LOL I love love love bbq! Unfortunately living in a condo we've only got those community typa grills which I refuse to use. So. I have an indoor grill that is just awesome. I must use that thing every other day if not more, and I've been thru 3 of them. lol At least you have good ole George to keep you going thru the winter months, right? ;)

Aqua, you crack me up. Now that song has been in my head ever since I read your post a while ago. lol I guess anything is better than Justine Timberlake's song that's been etched into my brain for 2 weeks now! :dancer:

Trish, how's that exercise going lady? You & me both lady we have some catching up to do with the other girls. We'll catch 'em don't you worry. ;)

Amanda, WTG on another stellar week of exercise!!!!! Truly inspirational I tell ya. You put me to shame with all the stuff you're doing, wow. Impressive!! Yeah, the mexican food was great but today I am a hungry bear! I agree, at the holidays I make no exceptions for being "bad" with food. I learned a while back that forbidding it at holiday time only made me want it that much more so we just go for it. Works alot better! See, now you guys got me all curious, even tho I swore I wouldn't watch this season of Flav. Now I gotta watch it, i feel left out!

Deborah, you're doing amazing!!!!! Congrat's on the loss sweetie! :carrot: Jump in whenever you can, never hesitate. This is the best group of girls even if we talk alot. lol Can't wait to hear what you're up to next time!

I think I am going to attempt one of Jillian Michael's dvd's tonight. I am feeling motivated (thanks girls ;) ) to try it since it's only been sitting on my shelf for the last 3 months! Have I told you just how devistated I am that she isn't doing Biggest Loser anymore? lol Her and Bob had such a great chemistry and really brought out the best in eachother. I only hope this new "Barbie" can do her justice and make me want to keep watching.

I can't believe another day is almost over, time is flying!!!!

09-03-2006, 10:29 PM
Amany- I think you all are a blast! Joking around lightens the mood on a tough journey. :)

I see you decided to go on ahead and play the game with us... :D I'm glad you changed your mind! I think it will be fun to see the stats week by week. I need to be doing that anyway.

I have "50 ways to leave your lover" downloaded too, in fact, I was listening to it one night with the headphones on and my husband walked by and read the title. He gave me such a funny look!

Sugar-N-Spice- My weekend has been good so far. :) Glad you're getting a chance to relax.

I've had "Hollaback Girl" stuck in my head. I always thought that song was an oxymoron. She says "I ain't no hollaback girl" but the whole dang song she hollerin' back at some chick.... Oh well. I worry about these things too much...

09-03-2006, 10:43 PM
Oh my god I'm tired! I went with my Avon upline Leticia to go blanketing areas with our brochures and we walked and boy did I get a work out. We were walking uphill not sure how smart that was to do in the heat but I am glad I got an extra workout in there. I'm exhausted after that we went grocery shopping and I bought a bunch of low-cal low fat snacks. and a couple other things i wanted to try like the V8 tropical drinks. I really wanna try that so i bought it.

09-04-2006, 12:09 AM
lovethatsara- Wow! Good walk! That's so good. Uphill, you might be sore tomorrow, but like Amany says- it's a good sore!

09-04-2006, 12:51 AM
Danielle is catchin Flav Fever!! You won't believe the women they have on this time. They are really skanky. My husband said it's like they rounded up as many hood rats and strippers as they could.
Don't sell yourself short with the exercise lady. You've been doing some amazing stuff lately. You'll have a new, sleek body in no time.
I'm going to have to check out BL. Has it started yet?
Sometimes a lazy weekend is in order. The only time I've been outside since Friday was when I walked to Walgreen's earlier this evening to get a couple of gallons of Diet Arizona Iced Tea.

Aqua - Yes I joined. I was thinking about how we're a team. How can I be a part of the team and not participate with what the team does? We should all be doing it together.
I've only ever listened to the chorus of Hollaback Girl. Now, I'll have to listen to the whole dang thing. It bugs me when songs are contradictory too. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Wow Sara! - That sounded like a great walk. You go girl! Pretty soon you'll be craving exercise. If you're not already!

Well, it's time for me to say good night. I'm so sleepy. Seeya tomorrow chickies!!!

09-04-2006, 07:12 AM
:coffee: Good Morning Ladies!!!!:sunny:

Amany- That is so cool that this is why you decided to do the measurement thing. I think it will be good for all of us. Whoever thought of measuring ourselves, that was a good idea. A lot of times we get all mad at the scale, but our bodies are changing so we don't take into account how much we are shrinking. Density isn't the only way to measure our success.

I'm about to tread!!!! Yes, it's 5:07 A.M. Central time!!!! :carrot: :woops:

Yeah, Hollaback girl....

Uh huh, this is my ____
All the girls stomp your feet like this

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna to happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my _____, this my ____

I heard that you were talking ____
And you didn't think that I would hear it
People hear you talking like that, getting everybody fired up
So I'm ready to attack, gonna lead the pack
Gonna get a touchdown, gonna take you out
That's right, put your pom-poms downs, getting everybody fired up

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna to happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my ____, this my ___

So that's right dude, meet me at the bleachers
No principals,no student-teachers
Both of us want to be the winner, but there can only be one
So I'm gonna fight, gonna give it my all
Gonna make you fall, gonna sock it to you
That's right I'm the last one standing, another one bites the dust

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna to happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my ____, this my ____

Let me hear you say this ____ is bananas
(This ____ is bananas)

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna to happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my ____, this my ____

Hmmm, sounds like she's saying she's gonna do a lot of stuff (Am I wrong or is that not hollerin' back?) Just whip her butt and get it over with Gwen. Less talk more action.... lol....

LOL!! have a lovely afternoon!

thanks that makes since i was feeling the every 3 to 4 hour thing is kinda of crazy especially if your not hungry

09-04-2006, 12:40 PM
Good Monday Morning everyone! Busy day for us here, tomorrow is my girls' first day back to school and my debut as PTA president. We've got loads to do today and we'd like to take a dip in the lake too but not sure if we'll go since its so smokey today.

Did everyone see that the croc hunter was killed? Very sad, we loved him here. I guess when you flirt with danger sooner or later its gonna catch up to you. Kinda like us and our extra weight. Just something to think about!

Okay I'm getting yelled at, gotta get going to haircuts!! Have a great day everyone I'll be back to check on you later today!! Happy Labor Day!

09-04-2006, 12:47 PM
thats sad melissa

hey did anyone catch flavor of love last night it was messed up he let its like that go she probably would have been the one to treat him the best.. i did admire her confidence though was i the only one excited and clapping when the special guest turned out to be new york? this should be funny

09-04-2006, 01:42 PM
Hun.e.B- Yeah, I saw that Croc Hunter was killed. I feel so bad for his family, but I'm certain he knew he might go out like that one day. When you flirt with disaster enough it is bound to catch up to you. I hope it was quick and painless. The babrb on the stingray went through his heart, so it was probably very quick.

Good luck with all the P.T.A. doings. You seem like a very loving and involved parent. :) I respect that so much!

miafluker- Hi! I wasn't too crazy about Like That. She busted Buckwild for being fake (which she probably is), but I wasn't impressed with Like That jumping in the pool with her clothes on and stuff. She seemed to be trying awfully hard (aka being fake) to get the attention of Flav's friends. She also made Buckwild cry, so she felt bad and was trying to mother her- but then when the camera and her were alone she was telling a tale of sticking to her guns about disliking Buckwilds fakeness. What I did find upsetting though on Like That's behalf was Flav laughing about her size, and the size of her lingerie behind her back. She was there to do the same thing as the other girls and she just wanted her time with Flav- which she was hurt she wasn't getting. I'm glad he said he didn't want to lead her on, but when she saw that episode it probably truly hurt her feelings.

Aaaaaammmmmaaaaaaannnnnyyyyyyy!!!!!!! Are you okay today? I hope so!!

09-04-2006, 02:33 PM
Hi Ma'Ladies.

Aqua - Hey there. We've been running around all day and we just finished eating. Our wagon had a flat, so we had to go out and find some place that was open get a new tire. Then we ended up getting two.
After that we went to Kmart to pick up a "few things". Now we're about $130 lighter. That's always the way, isn't it? I made us some salads when we got back. I have to say that I'm proud of my husband for making some adjustments in his eating habits as well. But I'm also jealous. He's made half-hearted efforts, drinks a little less beer and does about 20 - 30 minutes of shadow boxing in the mornings. But he's lost 22 pounds in the past five weeks! Damn man! It's always easier for them isn't it?
Like That on Flavor of Love bothered me. Yeah, Buckwild might be fake, but all she had to do was avoid her if she didn't like her. It's like she made busting Buckwild her pet project. Why? Plus I can't stand those annoying "pseudo-deep" people. I also thought she was really desperate. Like jumping in the pool to get attention and then showing her lingerie to Flav so he could see what she had for him. Goodness gracious, did you see the way she was eating and drinking out of that milk jug?! Yuck! That was gross. I'd love to see Nibbles and that argumentative one leave. I think her name is Boots. These women are so trashy!
BTW, what dedication you have! Treading at 5 in the morning! You really want this bad, and I'm glad you're going to have it. I know you are.

Mia - You're probably right. I didn't care for Like That, but she probably would have treated him better than those other ladies. Just like NY or Goldie from last season would have treated him better. I just loved, loved, loved Goldie!
BTW, I was glad to see NY walk in too.

Melissa - Good grief woman! I wish I had your kind of energy. I'm sure you're one of those super organized people. All I have is my husband and there are times that I wonder, with all the attention he needs, if we should even have children! Let alone PTA and school! You're downright admirable!

Well, I need to straighten up a bit before we go to my parents'. Being with my family is always tricky. I'll either have a very good time or a very bad one. We'll see...

Have a great day ladies. BBL

09-04-2006, 03:46 PM
Happy Labor Day! Getting a late start in here today, stayed up late watching movie with dh last night. Then I get up this morning our internet server is down, and still is now! Ggrrrr. I'm using my Blackberry so I will do my best to remember what everyone said, if I don't now please forgive me, its not intentional. Just this stupid thing is very hard to keep scrolling all over the place.

Aqua, how was your tread this morning? I used to love working out super early waaaayy back in the day when I was a lot more fit than now. Something about the peace & quiet, no kiddies running around-no noise! It was Melissa who thought to put measurements, I'm sure. She is big proponent for measurements as I am. I've always said, I would rather "look" smaller and actually weigh more than vice versa! LOL

Mia, how ya doin hon? Girls gave you some good advice about eating, I hope it helps!

Melissa, the honorary chicken with your head cut off. LOL something always about that day right before school starts! And then after they go and don't wind up needing half of what you thought, end up sitting there wondering what all the hoopla was! Of course my thinking always goes to, what if I don't get it and then they end up needing it--always my luck! LOL I hope it goes smoothly today and you get that swim at the lake. What a great way that would be to end the weekend!

SO. I worked out today. I started out with the intention of just doing a WATP 1mile express and then maybe the bike later....well, once the 1mile was done I just started the 2miler that's on the disc and did that too. So + did 3miles walking today. And lemme tell ya that little stretchy band thingy that you use with it is very deceiving! Great upper arm workout for sure! I tried a Jillian dvd last night-OH. MY. GOSH. This is 2 discs, one for frontal and one for the back areas. I barely got thru 1 min and then I quit I was miserable. Jillian's just gonna have to wait along with "miss cardiopilates"! Ugh! I was pretty proud that I tried it though and gave it at least 10.

09-04-2006, 05:17 PM
Amany- Good to see you!!! Wow! I know exacly what you mean about the hubby. Mine can drop 10 pounds if he takes a fiber pill.... It ain't right.
I know what you mean about the money too. Seems like it's always something.
She did act nasty when she was eating. Flav eats nasty too, so I don't know if he would care about that. Mmm mmm mmm, the next episode is going going to be good!

My tread was good, but I didn't do 60 minutes straight. I did 30, then another 30 later...
I hope the time with your family will be great!:)

Sugar-N-Spice- Hi! My tread was nice, and yes that is a bonus to getting up early. No one to run in the way.... I love the measurements thing. I'm glad she thought of it.

Great job on the workout!!! Wow, 3 miles is really good! I'm giving you a carrot...:carrot:

09-04-2006, 05:24 PM
Good Afternoon everyone!! Well haircuts are done and they turned out fantastic! I'm so happy to have found someone who knows what the heck they are doing. Got shoes and got of easy! I just remember I gotta go to walmart, oh how I hate that store! I cant wait till I'm rich enough that I dont have to shop there. But I dont have anything to put all that fruit in that I gotta cut up! Okay done whining LOL!!

I'm gonna get a walk in today girls...I'm gonna do it!!! If I dont, there must be a consequence. Just not sure what yet!

Mia...I really kinda liked like dat...although I didnt understand her alot LOL! But she seemed like a nice girl, not right for this show though. I didnt like Flav making fun of her size behind her back like that. Next week should be fun with NY coming back!'s your day going? measurements is where its at! thats the proof right there, there is no denying your waist being 2 inches smaller, the scale being down 2 lbs you cant tell.

Sara...way to go on that walk!!! Getting some work done and working out!! couldnt get any better than that! I hope today is going great for you!

Danielle!! You rock that exercise girl!! You need to start kicking my butt into doing it!! I've heard those bands are great! Babysteps and pretty soon you'll be rocking it right along with ol jillian!

Alright, here I go again!! Keep on shining losers! LOL!!

09-04-2006, 05:37 PM
Hun.e.B- Hi! :) I love to buy things at Wal Mart- what I hate are the massive crowds of people constantly streaming along. It's hard to even stop and look at something. People want to get by, so you can't just enjoy browsing... erg....
Was that your idea for measuremnts? Brilliant. I am more well behaved now than ever before just knowing I have to re post those. Thank you.
Enjoy your walk!

09-04-2006, 06:44 PM
Amanda, I hope that your visit with the parental units was a good one. There are many days when I'm glad that I live 400+ miles away from mine! My mother usually end up driving me nuts or making me extra angry. I still don't understand how she feels justified talking to me like I'm 12 and don't know anything. Anyways, didn't hear from her on my b-day which is no new news there, but still....sometimes I wonder what makes her tick sometimes! Men drop weight without trying its pathetic. My dh had recently started just cutting portions and nothing else, darnit if he didn't drop about 15lbs in the last 3 weeks! He didn't even have to give anything up! they are the devil those men!
I am SO glad that you joined us on the challenge! You deserve to see those changes to chicky!

Aqua, you are doing great with that walking! I really wish I had a treadmill but have no idea where I'd put it!lol

Mel, glad the haircuts worked out for you! I am so happy to have my Kenny, he's a true talent and I love knowing that he would never send me out of there looking like an idiot. KWIM? He gives the best cuts for your face and is not about the money. You got off easy with the shoes? How on earth did you luck out with that!lol You and wallyworld really have a love/hate relationship don't you! I hope you get everything you need to prep for your breakfast at the school. They're all gonna love it, I just know it!

My internet is not back up and I'm getting highly irritated. Another reason why I HATE living where we do! Being restricted to particular cable & internet providers is not my idea of living my way!

Well, so much for my afternoon. dh was "supposed" to be off today, forgetting that he had to deliver a car to a customer. So he had to be gone a couple hours, then he gets asked by his boss to stay, they are he's been there ever since. Bah! Some days I really hope he would switch careers but $ is good, so whatcha gonna do,right?

Anyways, I'm babbling so I'll leave you all here for now. Be good!:)

09-04-2006, 08:25 PM
Hello ladies!

I have a non scale victory I would like to share with you. I have a pair of baby pink sweatpants. My husband hates them (and my gray workout pants too). Well, lucky hubby, ****drumroll**** those pink sweatpants are now too large for me to wear!!! ****game show music**** :D

Sugar-N-Spice- Sorry to hear hubby had to go to work. Money is a good thing too though. :)

09-04-2006, 09:23 PM
Congrat's Aqua!! I bet it feels great! "Tell us what she's won, Bob!" *in my best game show host voice* :D

Dh STILL isn't home. And now after watching the opening episode of Ellen today, I am AGAIN stuck with that song sexyback. Justin was on there singing away and has left me with that tune that's been in my head for weeks now. Just when I thought I was free! LOL Almost as bad as that song Promisqious (sp?)first came out. And too bad for my family that I can't sing! HA!

09-04-2006, 09:30 PM
Aqua... How awesome is that those pants don't fit any longer... now you have to cut them up for dust rags, so you can never wear them again...

Amanda.... Hopefully the visit went well and you can breathe a sigh of relief that you are home again....

Well, I had a most unproductive day... I went up and visited with my mom. We went food shopping... how fun is that? We did end up with all healthy purchases though. I found the most amazing hot dog if anyone enjoys a hot dog... they are even good in the microwave....if you are interested, they are Hebrew National 97% fat free... only 1.5 fats-- good stuff...Other than that.... i came back to the apartment, cooked out with my neighbors and now I am getting ready for school tomorrow. all but three of the rooms are free of mold. please keep your fingers crossed that mine isn't one that has to be quarantined(spelling??)

oh yeah, i have a question??? i am anticipating (with fingers crossed and breath held) that I actually lost a few pounds, i was wondering how you change your counter... or do I just need to make a new one???? thanks.. have a great night... talk tomorrow...

09-04-2006, 10:04 PM
Hey Ladies,

I'm back for the week. I must say when i woke up this morning, i never expected my mentor from the time i was 12 or so to be gone. its been really hard for me. he made me feel okay about being different and loving animals as much as a i do. even when people called me things like crazy, i always knew that there was alteast one other person who would do anything to save and protect the animals. anyways maybe tomorrow ill post. i just wanted to say hey to everyone and hope everyone had a good weekend.
Much Love,

09-04-2006, 11:23 PM
Hey ladies!

I just got back from my trip to Edmonton. It was really really fun. I got to see my brother and he is doing well. He was a little stressed the first few days of university but who isn't right? He also had lost his wallet so he was a bit more stressed than some people. Anyways, I start school tomorrow, I can't believe it! Summer has gone by wayyyyyy too fast for me! I have so much to do tonight, it is unbelievable. I did pretty good with the diet and exercise plan while I was there, I cheated a few times but i went for an hour fast walk afterwards or later on that evening. I am getting Turbo Jam hopefully in the next couple of days and I am really going to fully start, I have just been weening myself off some foods so its not a complete shock to my system when I go to my "healthy lifestyle eating plan." It's good to be back with you gals and hope yall had a safe and fun and healthy;) long weekend. Talk to u all soon.

Heather:carrot: :carrot:

Hello Ma'Ladies.

I promise to do personals in the morning, but I wanted to share my journal entry with you guys:

Today's menu was...

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs and 2 turkey sausage patties

Lunch: Salad with turkey taco meat, baby spinach, dab of low- fat sour cream, cheddar and pico degallo

Snack: 30 almonds

Dinner: chicken leg, squash and green beans.

I also ate more salad later in the evening. The name kind as before.

No exercise today, but I'll do it Tuesday - Sunday.

I survived a holiday with my family!!! I didn't have any of the "no-nos"! :cp:
I started to get kinda nervous near the end because they were starting to eat the desserts. They had two different types of fruit pies and a cheesecake. I watched my diabetic mother, diabetic brother and my sister who's always on a diet, snarf down all this sweet stuff. I gotta admit, I was tempted by the cheesecake, but I maintained my composure. Then it happened. My mom brought out the ice cream. Yeah, yeah, I'm in control, but it was time to get the **** outta there!

I told my husband, "OK. Let's go. I can smell the sugar in the air.". I'm making light of all this, but I'm actually serious. It's weird. I could literally imagine the relief I'd feel to have a couple of scoops of ice cream over that raspberry cheesecake. And I could literally feel compulsion creeping up. I felt it best to leave. My control is a lot better than it was, but I'm not 100% there yet. I'm not disappointed in myself though. Hey, it's a process. It will take time.

On the way home I was thinking about how I watched my family snarf this stuff down though. It gave me the opportunity to see what I inherited. My brother is over 400 lbs with diabetes and high blood pressure, but he was eating that stuff. My mother is diabetic, has congestive heart failure and high blood pressure and she was eating that stuff. My sister has had eating disorders for as long as I can remember her. They are not what you see in the movies, but I can remember her many times doing dangerous and crazy things to lose weight. Only to then go and binge for weeks. I'm not judging them and I don't feel the need to start preaching to them or anything. But watching them gave me an opportunity to see myself. Because I've been them. Until roughly six weeks ago, I was them.

I'm not saying that they should never have an occasional dessert. I'm not saying I won't. But it was the way they were eating that struck me. It was like they couldn't stop. Like something had just come over them and they couldn't control themselves. My husband, since meeting my family a few years ago, told me that we were all obsessed with food. Not as criticism, but it was what he'd observed. I'm starting to see that more and more clearly as time goes on. What's really interesting to me is that the sweets fest didn't begin until all the guests had left. Like they didn't want the guests to see how we really "get down". Before then they were all neatly wrapped and on the table. Wait, it get's better....

My husband and I get home and what does he do? Break out his caramel apples with peanuts. :lol3: Good grief! How much is one woman supposed to stand? But I was cool. I actually wasn't even tempted even though I like those things. They smelled great, but I was cool.

All in all it was a good day and I'm proud of myself. I'm learning a lot about myself and overeating. So far, I think I'm pretty stellar. :D

09-05-2006, 01:54 AM
Amanda, you ARE stellar! I'm glad that you enjoyed being with your family and were able to see the trends that tend to go with food. My family is exactly like yours---my mom waits til she thinks no one is looking and then digs in and then pretends she doesn't know where the food went. And I wonder why I have food issues! I loved reading your journal entry, thanks so much for sharing it with us. Oh. And your husband? He gets 20 lashes with the wet noodle for bringing out those evil foods! ;)

Heather, its great to see you back. I'm so glad you had such a great time with your brother. Looking forward to hearing great things from you!

Nighty-night ladies. See you bright & early!

09-05-2006, 08:32 AM
:sunny: :coffee2: Good Morning Ladies! :sunny:

Sugar-N-Spice- Good Morning to you! Sorry hubby didn't make it back home right away. That's a bummer. Everyone seems to get that new song stuck in their head! I say the musicians are trying to brainwash us! :D
My mom and sister will eat when no one is looking too. I was pretty up front about my ice cream "problem". No need to hide. My mom however, can be tested. Tried, and true. If you bring something, let's say snicker ice cream bars, into the house. You can offer her one and she will say no, those are way too sweet. So, you put them in the freezer. In the middle of the night you will awaken to the sound of the freezer being opened and you will hear *crinkle crinkle*. And when you wake up the whole box has magically disappeared! Yes, this was an actual event. This type of thing happened all the time when I was still young enough to live there and she and my younger sister did it all the time. It used to make me mad because it made you feel you couldn't bring any treats into the house.Or leftover food if you went out with your friends. They didn't want to share, (and sometimes wouldn't even ask if it was okay to eat the stuff in the styrofoam box you brought home)they would wait until they had it alone and eat the whole thing! I am of course not angry over it now, because I truly understand they have a serious eating disorder. But these are the same people that will try to sabotage any healthy eating plan and they claimed I was "anorexic" when I was at my ideal's sad.

TriciaK- I think making dust rags is a great idea! My husband said he's going to burn my gray ones. He hates those in particular because he says nothing matches right with gray pants.
You gotta make a new weight loss ticker, I think. If I am wrong, please someone correct me. I always make a new one. Congratulations!
I have heard of Hebrew National hot dogs. The commercial says "We answer to a Higher Power". I always liked that. :D
I hope you don't have to deal with a quarantine. :(

brat_61886- Hi sweetie! I know it's sad when someone we admire dies. I feel really bad for the Irwin family. Steve Irwin always had the understanding that his job was deadly, and he could end up getting killed. In fact I read this morning his friend said that at one time they had all agreed if it was ever going to happen it would be in the ocean because Steve was to nimble on land. He just didn't have as much control in the ocean. :(

needhelp27- Glad to hear you had a fun trip! Good to hear you did pretty well on the diet too! Summer always does fly by, doesn't it? Hope you have a good day at school.

Amany- Good Morning! You did such a good job! Wow! I would probably have bailed when I saw the ice cream too. I admit to having an addiction to sugar, and when it's in ice cream form... fuhgetaboutit......
In't it funny how when we start to recognize our own eating problems, and we make consious changes that when we see other people doing things we used to "blindly" do, like for me, eat a whole pint of ice cream without a blink, that we are astounded. I hope someday your family will decide to make the change too. Diabetes it awful, so is congested heart failure. :( I'm so proud of you. :) I'm so happy you shared that experience with us.

09-05-2006, 10:58 AM
Good Morning! :coffee2:

Having a hard time waking up this morning, too snuggly in the bed I think!

Brittni, I was so saddened about Steve Irwin. He was very popular in our house. He died doing what he loved, I can't think of a better way to go personally. Hang in there kiddo. Its really good to see you, I hope you have a terrific week!

Tricia, I really hope that you finally get to go to school! Have a great week!

Aqua, hello miss early bird. Did you do some :tred: yet? I say you do something creative with your overgrown sweatpants! ;)
Yup, woke up bringin "sexyback" today too!lol What is it about his songs? I did this when Cry me a river came out too. He's brainwashed me,hasn't he? :faint:

Ladies have a fabulous morning! I have mucho running around this morning, but I'm gonna try real hard to get a workout in-even if its just a 20 min one! I can feel myself getting stronger everyday. What a lovely thing!

09-05-2006, 11:09 AM
Danielle - Great job on the workout yesterday! 3 miles is major. You're hitting your stride, aren't you?
I'm with you on the cable issue. After our 5 day ordeal with Comcast last month, I wanted to get rid of them. At least for the internet. I can't yet though. Right now we have VOIP and we can't transfer our number to a landline phone. I want to use AT&T or Talk America for both dsl and phone. But my husband wants to leave his job, so he's searching for a new one. He's got tons of resumes out there with our current phone number.
I know what you mean about living hundreds of miles away from family members. I hope to within the next 5 years or so. Thankfully my husband is of like mind. Neither of us is particularly attached to our families. We love them and wish the best for them, but can go on without them. I wouldn't mind visiting on occasion, but I would have to drive. Since I never know how the visit is going to go, I have to be able to leave immediately if I need to.
20 lashes for my husband.... Hmmm.... Maybe it should also include some type of bondage. Then we'd have ourselves a fun time! ;)
BTW, I hope you and your husband get to spend more time together today.

Aqua:bravo: :balloons: Congrats on your nsv!! You're gettin' lean over there mama! Don't be surprised if your husband burns those pink sweat pants now!
You're right. It is strange to see people doing what I once did regularly. There was a time when I ate a brownie sundae almost everyday. I've eaten quite a few pints of ice cream in one sitting too. I've literally eaten myself sick many times. You know that compulsion I wrote about? It feels like it's some type of separate entity. There are times that I can actually feel it creeping up and wanting to take over. Now that I recognize it, I know at that moment that I need to put the plate down.
I hope my family changes their habits too. I have about 10 or 12 nieces and nephews who need their parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents to be healthy.
My mom has improved over the years, but she has more "special occasions" than her doctor likes. When she splurges she goes too far. So, we've got my dad who's an alcoholic and diabetic, my mom who's diabetic with congestive heart failure, my sister with eating disorders, my oldest brother who over indulges in both food and liquor, my second oldest brother who's doing pretty well controlling his bp by keeping his weight down, the one after him who's 400+ lbs and diabetic and has been steadily gaining weight, another brother with congestive heart failure like my mom who, after the last heart scare, cut down on the food and lost weight, but not the drinking, me who is (was?) a binge eater with borderline-high bp and cholesterol in July and, lastly, my younger brother who's got to be around 300 lbs easily. I don't know what his bp is. He won't go to the doctor. We all have a lot to contend with. Yesterday my diabetic brother was slipping a bottle of liquor to the one with congestive heart failure.

Melissa - I'm glad to hear about the haircuts. You'd think with the tons of people that are hair stylists, it would be easier to get good service for reasonable prices. It has taken me two years to find a good person to wax my eyebrows without charging 20+ bucks for it. A few weeks ago, I had to take a chance and relax my own hair. Everyone else wanted to charge like $70 for it! Thankfully my older cousin's best friend has decided to come out of retirement part time. I can go to her every 5 - 6 weeks for a retouch and trim and she'll only charge me about $35 - 40.
I think if I became a millionaire I would still go to Walmart! I love it there. You guys are right about the crowds and lines though. I hate it when I have to go there after 9 in the morning. I try to go as early as possible. I especially love the ones down south. When I visit my aunts and cousins in Arkansas I find a reason to go just about everyday. Good place that Walmart.... :)
Did you get the walk in?

Hi Tricia! - To change your counter, go into the user cp. It's on the top left part of the forum. Click "edit signature" and then change the number for your current weight. Congrats!! :cb:
I hope your room is ready for you today. It will be nice to get settled I'm sure. At least the school is addressing the problem before anyone gets sick, right? Look at it that way. :)
Thanks for the tips. I've never had Hebrew National hotdogs, but I just may try them. I've seen them in quite a few groceries.
I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to find out what you've lost!!!

 Oh Britt.... Post when you're ready. Even if you need to just really vent, ok? I'm sorry to hear this lose is hitting you so hard.

Hi Heather. It sound like you've been doing a fantastic job! Everyone goes off course on occasion. It's nothing to stress over. I'm glad you didn't throw the towel in. You just kept plugging away at it. Fantastic!
I think weaning yourself is much easier. It's great that you're approaching this as a lifestyle change and not a diet.
Let us know how you like Turbo Jam!

Well, ladies, it's way past time for me to get some clothes on. I don't want to waste this day by just sitting around. I'm going to have to figure out what workout to do first though.

I usually start listening to Christmas music in September. I love, love, love Christmas! I promised my husband that this year I'd wait until November. But I just heard that song from The Nutcracker. I think it's called The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy. I might have a hard time keeping my promise now...:(

Yesterday I got confirmation that I'm doing pretty good. My jeans kept hanging down on me. My mother who rarely ever compliments any weight loss I've accomplished mentioned to me about 2 or 3 times that I'm going to need new pants. My husband said I looked like one of those guys with the baggy pants. And to think that about 7 weeks ago, those jeans were tight! I had stomach mushrooming all over them. :D

Ok, I have to workout. BBL!

aqua congrats that is an accomplishment
butterfly dont worry i think i gained some weight back also but at least i know i can lose some lbs i just got to keep it off i was invited to a cookout at my moms so many distractions not many people cater to the people that are trying to find a healthier alternative.
i decided i am going to have to stop using the word diet and start thinking of this as a start to new me a healthier way of living the word diet just makes me feel like its a burden
is it me or is anyone else tired of the media portraying overweight people as people that eat all nasty and cant controll theirselves?
such as on flavor the way like that was eating i wouldnt think she really eats like that and if she did i wouldnt think she would do it when she knows she is on tv, alot of us have alot of reasons why we gained weight such as me i have children and i am an emotional eater i also go long periods with not eating so when i do eat i often eat the wrong thing also i have a hard time motivationg myself to workout everyone around me is in good shape but i dont slurp or smack when i eat or drink out of jugs
i really wish society would change the views the have on the full figured not only for me but for my daughters
thank god for my hubby who loves my size

sorry for the rant i was irritated for a sec. im all better now:carrot:

I have been following along all weekend but haven't gotten a chance to post since Saturday.

Amanda: OH My god, I go to mom's yesterday and she had made, ribs, potatoe salad, 2 different pasta salads, green beans, dressing, baked beans, salad with romaine noodles and almonds, cheesecake, pound cake, 3 sweet potatoe pies, cheerie cobbler, and homemade banana pudding. I made the collard greens. I thought I was gonna die. But you know what I wasn't even phased by all the fun. It looked good but I kept thinking about the weight challenge. :jig: My mom had cut up watermelon for me for my dessert, I thought that was thoughtful. Now I say all this to say that you did a fabulous job resisting temptation on all that food. :carrot: And your reward is a smaller pants size, Yeah, Yeah.

Aqua; Congrats lady on the old pants not fitting, why to go! Thats what I'm talking about, show all these clothes whose Boss.:carrot:
You guys got me watching Flavor of Flav. :D Like dat needed to go after she was eating like a wild animal at the table. That was just disgusting, she made me sick. And the whole pool thing was just off the chain. But whats up with the girl with the fake rump? :?: Next week is going to be great with girly, girly, coming back.

Butterfly; Don't worry about those 3 pounds, there just trying to get you upset don't let them.

I got to go right now, but I'll be back.

Hello Love Bugs!

It sounds like everyone had a very nice holiday weekend! I personally spent the bulk of it vegging out and it was WONDERFUL. I wasn't particularly careful with the food, but I didn't overdo it either. So that makes me happy. I wasn't able to walk at all this weekend.....I have a bum hip flexor. I think the rest did me well though and I plan to resume my training today.

I was so relieved when I finally found the new thread this morning. At first, I thought no one had started it and that the group was disbanding. I was very blue. But, I was wrong! Hooray! I should've known better anyway.

Glad to see that there are a number of Flavor of Love fans out there! I LOVE that show! I haven't seen this week's episode yet. I DVR'd it and haven't had a chance to watch. But, it sounds like it was SO good. That show makes me laugh so hard.

Alright, I must get back to work.....but I wanted to check in! Congrats to Amanda and Aqua on their non-scale victories! Way to go ladies! Bonnie, your step-son sounds like a bonehead and you shouldn't feel bad about being angry. You have every right to be angry. I'm glad everyone is out of your house and you can get back in your routine.

I'm going to post my stats tomorrow for the challenge! I couldn't find a tape measure this weekend, so I'm going to buy one this afternoon!

Liz :carrot:

I missed you guys over the loooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg weekend. I wished I had a blackberry then I could have posted while I was away. It was great seeing family, but this one is arguing with that one and this one won't come because that one is coming. Shoo wee.

Anyway, I found out one of my cousin's husband cheated on her a couple years ago, I had no idea and when I see him again, I don't think I can look at him the same. I know it is none of my business and I shouldn't judge people, but it really, really upset me. Maybe by the time I see them - I will be over it.

I didn't exercise all weekend. I didn't stick to my life style change either. I ate too much ( there was too much bad food at my cousins house) and drank too much! Felt really bad yesterday when I woke up and wanted to hide from the rest of the world yesterday. :?:

You ladies motivate me so much and keep me up, please get me out of my rut. I think TTOM is coming and I just feel really PMS right now. I am hoping that is all it is. Today is a new day and I am starting fresh. ;)

  I will do personals when I get home tonight after work. I hope everyone has a great day and stay OP!

love and hugs,

Sugar-N-Spice- It sure is hard to get out of a warm snuggly bed! I get like that when it starts getting really cold outside. Especial if it's cold and rainy, or cold and snowy. Of course, I did do my tread. :D Something creative with pink okay, how about a sock puppet that is supposed to be blubber. I can set her on my kitchen counter and have an argument with her if I'm going to eat a cookie or not.... lol... (I'm joking) ;)

Amany- I'm so glad you decided to take care of yourself. You have a lot of genetic predispositions stacked up against you (the diabetes, obesity) I'm so proud of you for saying "no more", and doing something about that.

Sounds like you are going to be needing some new pants!!! Oh, my gosh, that is such an awesome feeling. Pants sagging gives me more of a rush than a smaller number on the scale.

We love Christmas too, but we bust it all out the day after Thanksgiving. My husband does almost all the decorations, he is like you, he loves Christmas, but he feels sad if Thanksgiving is ignored so he contains himself until exactly the day after. But at that point it's on. Christmas music is on 24/7. Even in the car. :)

sapphire35- Awww, that was so nice of your Mom to cut up watermelon for you. I saw my Dad yeasterday and he wanted to take us out for hot dogs. He didn't even notice I've lost weight! I just told him I have given up those kinds of foods. Temptation lurks baaaaaaaddddddd when family is around. Food + Family = comfy love We just have to hone in on the family part and let the food alone. It's so hard, but we can do it! I did, I showed those ugly pink bunny sweats "what time it is" (they didn't know). It's time for new pants!!! :carrot:

Butterfly50- Hi! Don't worry about the three pounds. You will get back in your groove. This is hard any time, but it is harder when family is in town.

Oh, man. Well I hope the situation with the money and all that will be resolved soon and you can have some peace in your life from that situation.

miafluker- You're right sweetie. We have to adopt a new way of life. It takes a long time, it can't happen over night. We keep trying until it becomes second nature.

And yes, I do feel sad at how overweight people are portayed. I am sick of it. Sometimes when I read some of the comments some of these women here have gotten in conjunction with what I have experienced myself it just makes me ill. I am a soul with feelings. The body just go along with it. Unfortunately too many people do not see overweight people that way.

iwantnewpants- Hi! Disbanding, :nono: NEVER!!! This group will be here, and stay here even if it means I have to post messages to myself on a daily basis... I think we all watch F.O.L. How can you not  , it's so entertaining...

Take care hon, I hope you have a great day!!!

09-05-2006, 01:22 PM
n2luvnlife- I almost missed ya there sweet thang!!!! :)

It's okay hon. Just start again. Sounds like you had a rough weekend. I am the same exact way about cheaters, I could never cheat on my husband ever. :( I would feel so dirty. If he did it to me, I would be crushed. Ouch. Did your cousin forgive him? If so, you gotta let it go too- but you sure don't ever have to look at him the same. I don't think it's humanly possible. Family fights... gotta love 'em. (riiiiiigghhtttt.....) I dont see my family much, but I do need to go see my sister. Her son died a couple of months ago and I asked my Dad if she's making it, and he said not real well. :( I feel so bad. I don't know what to do for her, there is nothing I can ever do to make her feel whole again and it just makes me feel so horrible inside.

Anyway, take care, we are here for YOU!!!!!

09-05-2006, 01:40 PM
Mel - yeah it was really sad what happened to the crocidile hunter. I really thought he was very funny when he was alive. It's sad to see he's gone.

Aqua - I have that song from Gwen. I never really paid too much attention to the lyrics expect for the bannanas part.. I never understood it.

Bonnie - Sorry you had such a bad day. Keep your head up girl. You will do better :)

luvnlife - Chalk up the weekend as being bad and lets move forward! Start today fresh and you will be fine. Take 2 cups of this :dust: 1 cup of determination and remember we are all here for you.

09-05-2006, 01:44 PM
Hey ladies. I have great news!

1. I tried my Cardio Shimmy bellydance video today and was able to complete it. I had to stop once or twice because it's quite the challenge. 2 months ago I couldn't do it at all though. I couldn't keep up with the hops or the lunges. Now I can. :D I think I have some videos I'm gonna hang tight with for the next month. They are the first ones to challenge me in a long while. Donna Richardson's 30 Days to Firmer Arms and Abs, Cardio Shimmy, Fighting Fit, Fighting Fat and Pilates for Abs. They're all a tad bit hard for me, which is good.

My other news is that.....

Our third vehicle had just died. Since our cars are older (one 93 and a 94) we need to always have a back up. Last week my job put two 2000 Jeep Cherokees, a 1996 Concord and a 1997 Lumina Van up for auction. We bid on both Jeeps and the Lumina, having first, second and third choices. We got our first choice! I found out today when my boss emailed me.
It's such a relief because my job has all the maintenence history and was the first owner. The best part of all of it is we got the Jeep for less than a 1/3 of its actual value. Even the comparable Jeeps on Ebay were going for two and a half to three times as much.

WooHoo!! I'm so, so happy!!! :cb:

Ok. I have to go now. We have to get the insurance and plate taken care of then my husband is taking me out on a date. He's got these days off with me, so we're sorta joined at the hip.

Promise to get to personals this afternoon or evening. BBL!!

09-05-2006, 01:47 PM
lovethatsara- Hey! I pay wayyyy to much attention to stuff like that... :dizzy: lol...

I hope all is well with you today!

Amany- YAY!!!! It fees good to complete a video. :)

I'm so happy for you! I love Jeeps. I hope you have a great day hon! :)

09-05-2006, 02:43 PM
Hey ladies,
i'm doing a lil better. Its really hard since one of my reasons for going to australia was to volunteer at the Zoo. I"m still going to but now i get to tell his family, what he has done for me.
Anyways enough sad stuff. i'm going to try to get back on. its so hard having to go back and forth. I have a family reunion this coming weekend and i dont know if i'm going to go or not. I'm thinking no, but i might get guilted into it by my grandparents lol.

Bonnie- i know how hard it is to do things when you got kids around. My cousin brought 2 of her 3 kids out for the day and to be honest with the 2 yr old, i dont know how anything gets done.

n2luvnlife- family functions always set me back. honestly Oprah said she allows herself 4 occasions a year to splurge on eating and i have to agree with her. you wont always be on all year long ya know? you'll get back to it and back on track in no time!!!!

Amanda- thats awesome about the Jeep!! i always wanted one but i didnt get to pick out my first car. and congrats on completing the video...i want to take belly dancing classes. did you see the MTV VMAs?? Shakira can really shake it and id love to do the same!

omg i just realized the time i have class...ill finish these tonight...later ladies

Okay, so I've been running around all day today and I got the worst blister on my pinky toe. I couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong with my sandals when I realized that all my feet have done is slide around all day long. My shoes are now huge! In the past few months I did experience some slight swelling on my tootsies, I chalked it up to lack of water. Guess now my feet are either really shrinking or I finally lost all that bloat. Gotta love exercise!!!!!! Either way, guess it's a good thing, huh? :D Except now I got an owee!

Amanda, congrat's on the new set of wheels. New cars are so much fun, aren't they? I'm still not used to mine yet, but I love it. Glad you are enjoying time with dh this week. No such luck over here today, he works a 14hr day and won't be home close to 9pm. Yesterday (his day off) he ended up working a 9hr shift.

Aqua, uhhhh step away from the lil pink sweats darlin! The day you start having an argument with your pants is when its time to bring out the men in the little white coats. ;) Do you have an arche enemy that you would love to see them go to? Maybe she needs 'em? heehee

I found Leslie Sansone's pilates dvd today at WallyWorld. I always get into trouble when I go there alone without dh. I had just mentioned to him last night that I wanted to order it and there it was, waiting for me. And for 10 bucks I couldn't resist. I also saw some Billy Blanks stuff that looked really good. He still scares me tho! I also saw Jillian Michaels kickboxing dvd, looks good. However, I think I'm gonna concentrate on some core strength this week, lord knows I need it, I'm such a weakling. :workout:

09-05-2006, 10:59 PM
Food can make you crazy. Don't believe me? Follow this link and listen to this phone call :lol3:

Hello Ladies.

I saw Snakes on a Plane tonight. I have no other comment. But I do love Sam Jackson. :)

Bonnie - Don't worry about those three pounds  You'll lose them in no time and be right back on track. I'm sure it will be nice to have your house to yourself again.

Mia - That's very important. A change in lifestyle is what will sustain you once you meet your goal. It will keep you from regaining the weight. Plus you will have replaced bad habits with good ones.

Sapphire - Is it Delicious that you think has a fake rump? Because I do. Everytime I watch the show I look for an Adam's Apple. Heck, Flav man is getting very close to 50. Maybe he needs his eyes checked. Otherwise he'd notice her manly features.
Aqua had a point about the fact that Flav eats nasty too. Wouldn't it have been gross to see them eating together? Yuck! And did you see that apron she had on? She went running up to his room with food on her apron.
I'm glad you had fun yesterday. That was so sweet of your mom to cut up some fruit for you.

Liz It's so good to hear from you. I'm sorry about your hip flexor and sorry you couldn't find us. We usually start a new thread on Sunday or Monday. We're just too dang chatty to keep the same one. The funny thing is that if we all met up in one place, we'd probably look at one another and have nothing to say. Glad to see another Flavor of Love fan. :)

Britt - Just save yourself some trouble and go to the reunion. Old people are very good at laying on the guilt. Pick your battles very wisely. You were defeated from the beginning on this one! :) Go ahead and indulge your grandparents. They just want to show off their favorite grandbaby. ;)

Danielle your toesies are shrinking!! I'm sorry to hear about the blister though. I'm now wearing my wedding ring on my middle finger because it slips off of my ring finger. I'm afraid to have it altered just yet though.
You know what song used to stick in my head? That song by the Pussycat Dolls. "Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me..."
I'm sorry that you didn't have much time with your husband. It sounds like he's a very hard worker. He cares very much for his family. You've got a good one.
You're gonna love Leslie Sansone's Pilates. Awww... Billy Blanks is harmless. Give him a chance. ;)

Aqua - It sure does feel good to complete a video. Now that I've done that Bellydance, I have a lot of confidence in my abilities. I thought it had been almost 2 months since I tried it. Then I remembered that I tried it about a month ago. It amazes me that my body has changed that much in just a month!
Guess what? My husband bought me a new pair of running shoes tonight. He's proud of me and thought I deserved them now. I love him so much! :D

Speaking of my husband, I'd better go. We're about to watch The Contender. He's a huge boxing fan and I promised to watch it with him.

09-05-2006, 11:07 PM
Congrats Amanda on the new jeep!

I think I am getting the Turbo Jam tomorrow, i'm so excited.

Well, school started today! It was weird because I went to a different school for grade 10 and 11 and now I am back for grade 12 and it is weird seeing everyone again because they have changed so much. I heard that grad pictures are in November so I really have to work hard for the next couple months. I really want to lose some inches and maybe my face will be a little thinner by then too. Otherwise I will have to get a grad gown and get my pics done at wal-mart at a later date, and sometimes their pics aren't good quality. I will be sending all my relatives and friends grad pictures and I want to look slim in them. No more double chin!!!:carrot:.Anyways, I have some cool teachers and not so cool teachers but hey you can't always have everything you want.

09-06-2006, 12:25 AM
HAHA Aqua!! I love your victory review!! I can totally hear the sound effects!! Congrats on an amazing milestone!!! I'm so proud of you!! Did you burn those pants? LOL! Keep up the great work! dont get me wrong I love walmart as much as the next person, obviously or I wouldnt shop there LOL...but I HATE the crowds! And why do people act so ******ed when they are there? Okay there's my rant! LOL!

Danielle...I love love LOVE that song!! I swear you cant not dance when that song is on! I'm bringin sexy back! YEAH!! LOL! I'm so proud of you with your exercise!!! When you know something needs to be done you do it! You are so amazing! I hope your tootsie toe is feeling better!

Tricia...I love Hebrew National! they are my favorite dogs. Even the reduced fat ones are great! I'm glad the mold is gone and you can get the year started!

Britt...I hope things are going better for you, I'm sorry you are having such a hard time! It truly was a tremendous loss for both man and animal kind. Keep that chin up! Life must move on! Thats how those who pass before us would want it.

Heather...welcome back!! Sounds like you are doing great! Every day better than the last, thats gotta be the goal Keep it up!! I know you can achieve those goals!! Good luck this year!! are simply amazing, pure and simple...just amazing! I'm so proud of you for being so strong on your visit. Your menu was fantastic! I'm so impressed with you! I have to tell you, whenever I think of you, even though I've seen your real picture, for some reason I picture you in my head as your AV, you've got that intensity and enthusiasm...girl you already are an Ali! Your pants are falling off!!! YAY! LOL! Congrats on the new car!!!!

Bonnie...visiting time is over..time to get back on track!! Get that water going and that 3 lbs will melt right away!! You can do it!! Take back the control! are so right, you really do have to stop thinking of a diet, which is something you do for a short time and think of it as a lifestyle. Because no matter what "diet" you do if you dont make the lifestyle choices its not gonna matter how much you lose, it'll all come right back. Its so hard raising girls in this day and age. But they are learning at home so show them the right way to be healthy and fit!

Trish...Way to go girl!!! I'm so proud of you for making a healthy choice and going with the watermelon!! sounds like your mom is on board!!! keep those choices up!!

Liz...Welcome back!! We missed you!! I hope your hip is okay. I'm happy to hear you took the weekend and got some relaxing in! You deserve it!!! Good luck with that training!

Lori...Welcome back to you too!!! Not to worry about the weekend, its tough enough to be good on the weekend then throw a holiday in there! But right back on track today!!

Whew!! Miss a whole day and you are in trouble LOL!! I love it!! I'm sure I left out alot too! I'm very excited to go to bed tonight, my new bedding arrived today and its all washed and on the bed! I got a 4" memory foam pad and a microsuede duvet cover. OOH its going to be a cloud to sleep in tonight! And I get breakfast in bed tomorrow since its my birthday. I have to make a confession and say that I'm doing LOUSY lately! I just am not focused on me at all. I have a million excuses it all comes down to not doing the work it needs. I cant walk, its just too painful. The past few days have been **** with my leg and I'm calling for an appointment tomorrow...I promise. Today I just wanted to cry it hurt so bad. The breakfast I put on for the teachers went pretty well, they all loved it. I was in such a rush to get it all done that I literally had sweat pouring off me. Its been like that all day long. I hope that means I'm burning all these damn calories off I been eating! I need to take a moment and focus on me and realize what I'm doing to myself by not eating right.

Alright, I'm ready for bed! Sweet dreams...I know I'm gonna have em in my new bed! LOL!!

09-06-2006, 12:47 AM
Awww... Thanks Melissa!

I really owe a lot to everyone here who's allowed me to rant, encouraged me and inspired me. The ladies on this thread and my husband have been a springboard for me.

I appreciate your kind words. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

09-06-2006, 05:59 AM
brat_61886- Wow, Australia! How cool is that! It's a looooooonnnnnggggg flight. :)

Sugar-N-Spice- Skinny feet! I love it! :D I have Billy Blanks Boot camp. It's good. He isn't scary at all, he is very motivating I think. It's pretty intense though.

Amany- That was so sweet of him to get you some new running shoes. That was gonna be a reward, right? :) Very Nice.

needhelp27- Picture time is a really good motivator. Just take it one day at a time. I know you can do it.

Hun.e.B- I have no idea what is wrong with other shoppers at wal mart. I think that it is such a "me" society, and rather than be courteous to other people trying to shop they are only concerned with what they are there to do and you are merely an object in there way and slowing them down.

I'm so sorry your leg hurts. :( That is not good, I'm glad you plan to get it checked out.

It's gonna take some time to get into a solid groove. Just get back on. Don't feel guilty for taking care of YOU sweetie. I know how much you love your family, and you are a busy bee and take on a lot of responsibility for everyone- but you are gonna have to set some time away for you to journal on your eating, to get a little workout in, whatever it is you need to do to take care of yourself. It's important. Everyone who loves you knows that. Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I sense a wee bit of guilt from you for having to make some space for yourself. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry. I'm a Momma too, and I did that for a long time. "I can't do this because my kids might need X and I won't have time for Y and they might get their feelings hurt if I don't do Z, so I will have to find time tomorrow"... etc... I finally said skip it, I'm getting up in the morning, the kids might have to wait an extra 5 or 10 minutes for breakfast, they can handle it. In fact one of my kids asked me "Mommy is your fat gone yet?" (I told him I was trying to lose fat) Bless his heart, he doesn't even know, realize, or care if I'm fat. I love those little babies. :D

Oh, and....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!:gift: :woo: :balloons:

09-06-2006, 12:04 PM
Goooooooood Morning Lady Girls!

Well, today is my weigh-in day and I lost 3 more pounds. Time for a carrot dance! I'm pretty thrilled about that because Molly Messy my Monthly Houseguest is in town and I have had mad cravings for chocolate, etc.. Also, with Labor Day, I wasn't exactly meticulous with my diet!

Everyone has so much exciting news. I LOVE this forum. There is so much positive energy flowing around these parts!

Amanda: Congrats on the new jeep! I love getting new cars, though I haven't had one in a long time. Granted, I don't even have a car right now! Also, that was SO sweet of your husband to buy those shoes for you. You have got one supportive hombre over there and you are one lucky gal. And it's so great that you guys get to enjoy some time off together.

Aqua: I love that story about the pink pants. I have a similar pair of pants that my boyfriend is not too fond of. They are also pink but have blue fish all over them. I wear them to sleep, eat, workout, to the grocery store. They are wonderful pants. But, I'm sure he won't be too sad to see them go when they are too big on me. Though that won't be for a while! Also, what a sweet little baby you have.

Bonnie: No stress about that 3 pounds. It will come off in NO time. I find that I don't drink that much water on the weekends and it could be something as simple as dehydration. Hang in there lady!

Mia: I am with you.....I am SO sick of the way media portrays overweight folks.....especially women. I am a HUGE fan of the Sopranos, but I really take issue with the differences between the men and women on that show. All of the men are HUGE! And none of the guys poke fun at each other for being overweight. But then there's a character.....Jenny Sack, Johnny Sack's wife, who is overweight......and there are a lot of jokes about her weight. It's ridiculous to me that it's so different for men and women. They also portray the men at dinner all the time, eating like normal people and enjoying their wine. And of course, the one time they show Jenny Sack eating, she's on the floor binging on candy she'd hidden in a cupboard. It really made me angry. And I think it's really unfair. Grrrr.

Trish: SO cute of your mom with the fruit. That's really great and shows how supportive she is. She'll be a great person for you to lean on during this journey.

n2luvnlife: Don't worry about the bad weekend! It happens! You dust yourself off and get back on track. I have to say, I think it helps to let loose a little on the weekends. Certainly losing weight is important, but life is too short to get uber stressed about it. I'm sure you're already back on track!

Heather: Congrats on starting another year of school. That is really exciting....especially your senior year! You can make so much progress between now and November.....but don't think too far ahead. Just focus on one day at a time, otherwise you'll get so stressed out. As my dad always says, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."

TriciaK: Hebrew dogs are my FAVORITE! I rarely indulge in the hot dog treat, but whenever I'm at a Cubs game, I ALWAYS get a Hebrew dog! I'm so excited to know they make a lowfat version.....although this means I'll probably start eating them at home! Oh no!

Alright girls, I know there are a couple I missed, so shout outs to everyone!

Have a beautiful and wonderful day! The weather here is gorgeous and I'm so excited to go on my walk later.....even though I think I might be coming down with a cold. Hmph.

09-06-2006, 02:33 PM
Alrighty then!! :carrot: Sheesh, that pilates is alot harder than it appears. Boy o boy must my posture be horrendous! She's asking to sit up straight for certain positions and omg, my back! I could really feel this workout in my lower back which is what I've been complaining about. I'm sure I will wake up very sore tomorrow. I felt muscles engage today that I never knew I had! lol I only did the shorter one because I didn't want to overdue it. But! I did a 1mile WATP too so I got 50 min. in so far today. I may do some exerball (love that thing!) exercises tonight while I watch the telly. I love this exercise thing! :dizzy: Hey, and I'm sure you'll all come and yell it me if in the future I decide that I don't like it so much, right? RIGHT!

Amanda, I had to laugh when you mentioned that song last night. That very song I heard in my dreams even! And then Heinekin had to put it in their commercials and I was doomed! I think what it is is that I love catchy tunes, they make me feel good. My husband thinks I'm nuts because I love love love dance music. It makes me feel really good! You have got yourself one heckuva hubby lady. What a sweetheart to get your shoes for you. He really pays attention to the hard work you're doing, that is fantastic.

Heather, you will look gorgeous in your pictures! You have your head & your heart in the right place to do this sweetie. We are all here to cheer you on! Good luck with your senior year, enjoy every second of it cause soon you'll sit back and wonder where that year went! I have a sister who is a senior this year too and she is busy busy busy. You have set yourself up for major success, I know you can do this! :high:

Melissa, I hope you have the best birthday ever. You are a busy mama these days, please no guilt! I know that you will find your stride very soon and be able to incorporate everything like you want. Maybe doing a workout w/ a dvd would be easier right now than trying to get out for a walk? Or maybe the eliptical for a while? I just want you to be happy with yourself and to make some time for you. You know what needs to be done and I know you're priorities will settle in to a way that works for you. Hey! How was that lovely bed you were talking about?!? I hope you had a great sleep. Definitely get that leg checked out, it's been way too long!

Aqua, yeah, hopefully the rest of me shrinks as fast as my feet do! :p I can't tell you how many times I've done the "xyz excuses" as a way of justifying my reasons for not getting healthy. Luckily now my kids are old enough to be pretty self sufficient so they do alright on their own. It was coming to the realization that those excuses don't work anymore and that *I* am the only one holding me back. I would really really hate to raise my kids into great adults and then not be here to enjoy their adult lives and grow old with my hubby, all because I chose not to quit stuffing my face or get off my butt and move a little. God bless your little one, what a sweetheart! They just don't see us as we do!

Liz, WTG on the 3 pounds!!! :dancer: You're definitely doing something right. I guess pretty soon we'll have to think of something creative to do with your pink pants! You're shrinking! I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Me either. :(
I hope the rest of the day is great and you end up feeling alot better soon!!!

Mia, Sara, Lori  How ya doing ladies?!

I feel like we're missing some people. ? Could this be? I think we need to do a roll call here soon!!!

Have a lovely day ladies!

09-06-2006, 03:03 PM
Danielle and Aqua...thanks for your words of encouragement, it really means alot to me. I know I really cant make any excuses, that one way or another, pain or no pain it can be done, I've just gotta make that commitment to ME and do it. Thanks for your ideas, I'm going to work on it!! Off to do more running! And I was gonna take a birthday nap...NOT! LOL!

09-06-2006, 03:30 PM
iwantnewpants- 3 pounds!! Wow, yes!!! That is so good! Great job! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: I hope you have a wonderful day! If I just lost three pounds I would be doing that dance where you grab your heel from behind and pump your knee in and out really I'd fall on my arse, but I'd do it anyway!!! :D

miafluker- I'm doing pretty good today. Did my tread way early, and have done some toning today as well. I hope your day is going well. :)

Sugar-N-Spice- Yipes, being sick is no bueno senorita.

Yeah, pilates do tend to sneak in on ya. Wait until you wake up in the morning. It's a good thing though, we need to be moving parts we don't compute at this it means we are making progress.

lovethatsara- Hope you are having a good day!

Hun.e.B- We love ya Hun.e.B!!! You always keep me motivated. You did something I needed desparately with the measurement thread. Talk about accountability! But I love it. :)

09-06-2006, 03:42 PM
Hello, Hello, Hello

How are all of you chickies today?

I'm just really busy with work right now, so I haven't been able to chat lately. So I'm just going to be sending quick responses right now.

COngrats to all the ladies that are dropping these pounds like there no big deal. Great Job!!!!!:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: I feeling the need to carrot dance for you iwantnewpants.

Amanda: hope you like the new jeep, I love my cherokee.;)

Melissa: Happy B-Day, enjoy it to the fullest. :hb: You earned it, busy girl.

Heather: I agree with the other ladies you are going to be knockout in graduation pictures you just wait. Right now your are really aware of everything your doing regarding to your weight. Just stay positive and motivated and you will succeed. We are here for you every single day.

Question??? How do you go into the challenge thread we started for Sept and do updates on the original post you made without starting a new post?:?: :?:

Gotta Go ladies, back to the grinding board.

09-06-2006, 03:59 PM
sapphire35- Hi!!! :)

All you gotta do is go to that thread, and push the edit button on your post. It will allow you to change whatever you want. It will not pull it up to the front of the support group thread, but Friday someone will probably bump it so we can all see what has transpired with everyone else this week. So far it seems we have been editing our posts and just letting that particular thread slide back until it is time to take a good look. :)

09-06-2006, 04:22 PM
Aqua, no, I know that it's a good hurt, I guess maybe it sounded like I was complaining in a bad way. I'm not. I know that I need to work past this to get to the really good stuff and that's fine with me. I've done it before and I can do it again. Except this time before losing all this weight like I did last time I know what I'm getting in to. When I dropped 80 pounds before it was all so new to me, I've been heavy all my life so this was a completely new experience and one I was absolutely not ready for. The thing I was most uncomfortable with was all the attention I got. At first it was nice, but then it just wouldn't go away. People noticed me more and more and I ended up resenting it because it irked me to no end to know that these very same people would never have given me a second glance if I'd been fat. Onward and upward, as they say.....

Mel, I know you will find a way, no doubt about it. You did this once, remember? I was there, so I know these things! ;) Baby steps all the way if you gotta, just so you get to the finish line. I have every faith in you that you will do this! You've never let me down before, you will rock this thing! ♥

sapphire, it's too bad that work is keeping you so busy. Don't they understand you need time to socialize with us? LOL I hope that it slows down some for you and you can chat with us soon. Aqua gave you the correct way to edit your post on the challenge lil teeny-tiny tidbit..and I'm embarrassed to admit this..but..... just make sure you're logged in otherwise your edit button won't show up on your post. I swore I was losing my mind  when I went back to try and edit and couldn't find that blasted edit button. LOL So if you've been on for awhile idle, chance are you need to re-log back in so it shows up. .... HTH!

09-06-2006, 04:40 PM
Sugar-N-Spice- I didn't think it sounded like you were complaining in a bad way. I think I just had a flashback of a pilate experience... :D

09-06-2006, 06:32 PM

:carrot: :cb: :hb: :cp: :gift: :woo: :balloons: :cheer: :cb: :carrot:

At some point, lady, you're gonna have to have a day that does not involve doing things for other people. You need a "pamper Melissa day". Every birthday present does not have to happen on your actual birthday. Make sure you do that soon!
Hope you're having a fantastic day!
BTW, I hope you can get some relief for your leg soon. Go to the doctor and let us know how it goes. Do you have a YMCA or recreation center nearby. You may want to consider water aerobics. The water takes something like 80% of the pressure off the joints and muscles. Plus you burn about 50% more calories than land based aerobics. It hurts afterwards the first few times though. So if you do it, take some Advil or Tylenol on the way there. I loved it so much that I still think of doing it a couple of times a month to see if my skin will tolerate it if I go only on occasion. Fun, fun, fun!!

Aqua - Yes the shoes were going to be my reward for getting to 225. They're really cute shoes. I like them. My husband has been talking to me about doing wind sprints. Do you think that maybe I've become his project or something?  I'm benefitting a lot from his "coaching".
Yeah, Pilates will kill you the day after. Another one of those "good sores" ;) Just like my legs are today after yesterday's bellydancing. Those danggone lunges!! My leg muscles ache so much today that I can feel with moving when I walk. I can't believe I'm happy about my legs being sore. Oh, but the muscles I'll soon have there. :D
BTW, that's a very sweet little man you're raising. :)

Danielle - You'll just love what the Pilates is going to do for you. It won't take long either. After doing Leslie's dvd, I'm ready to try others now. I'm becoming strong enough. If those roll ups are too hard, put your feet under a chair or the couch. Concentrate on your abdominal muscles as opposed to your back when you pull up. It wil get easier and easier.
I understand about the attention. Another annoying thing about people noticing that you're losing weight is that they have all these opinions on how you should do it. Or how much you should lose.
It feels good when you go ahead and work out even when you feel yucky, doesn't it?

Hi Sara!! I hope you had a great day at work! How's the walking going? You'll be slender and toned in no time!

Hi Liz. Congrats on the weight loss lady. :bravo: Oh, how I wish I lived in a city that I didn't need a car order to get around. I would still keep one for the grocery store and, if I need it, the laundry mat. But I would love to have a great transit system. I especially hate driving in the winter. City driving sucks. But I love driving on road trips.
Ok, now I'm going to pick up a some of those low fat Hebrew National hotdogs the next time I go to the grocery store. All of a sudden I'm wanting a hot dog. :)
Yes there is a lot of positive energy on this thread. I feel grateful and blessed to be a part of it.

Trish - I have to go back tomorrow. I think I'll feel the same way you did today. I don't wanna go! I don't wanna go!!!! :tantrum: Oh, the injustice of it! You know I think my parents owed it to me to have been billionaires and to have given me a trust fund large enough to keep me wealthy my whole life. Dang it!

Ok, I'd better go. I'm in vacation mode and I've not exercised today. If I don't get to check in later, have a great evening everyone.

09-06-2006, 07:44 PM
Amany- Good to see you!

I think it's really nice that he is into finding new things to do, like wind sprints. Quite frankly the words "wind" and "sprint" put together scare the H-E- double hockey sticks outta me, but you say you would love to run again, so this might be a very good thing for you. :D

Thanks about the little man. :) When kids say things like that, and you are reminded- wow- someone loves me unconditionally. It feels good all over. Especially when it is an overweight issue. There are days when I have felt absolutely worthless because of my size. Seems trivial when I think of those "moments".

09-06-2006, 08:41 PM
Today's been a great day food & exercise wise. Just this afternoon I was hanging around my pantry "looking" for something to eat, which I promptly ended up talking myself out of...with the saying..."you are what you eat". I just now ran across my horoscope for today and this is what it said:

September 6, 2006
Your powers of communication continue to be strong. Today's physical focus should be on your feet! Yes - wherever you plant your feet indicates the direction in which you will head. The aspect at play asks you to be determined, and to follow through on what you say. It's a great day to pick up an exercise routine you've been talking about, and likewise to really think about the expression "You are what you eat."

Guess I must be in tune huh? :D

09-06-2006, 09:22 PM
Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes girls!! It means so much to me, my own mother, who lives in the same town as me hasnt bothered to call. My family is downstairs trying to put their surprises together and then we are off to dinner.

I LOVE the water aerobic idea! I think I'm gonna try. I've been swimming with the girls and it didnt really relieve my leg at all but it was better than just walking. The problem is its stemming from my back. I tried to get an appointment today but couldnt ever get through, I'd be on hold for 10, 20 minutes and give up, I'll try again tomorrow!

Liz I'm carrot dancing for you!!!

Okay here come the troops! Have a great evening everyone!

09-06-2006, 09:25 PM
I forgot! Danielle, my bed is absolutely WONDERFUL!! No back pain this morning at all! Thats something with this weight, anyone else get back aches if they stay in bed too long? And my heels would hurt to when I first get up. And my arms didnt fall asleep once last night. The bed really made a difference even after just one night. Spinal alignment when sleeping is really important! Okay I'm really going now! LOL!

09-07-2006, 04:39 AM
hey everyone couldnt go back to sleep so i thought i would pop in

09-07-2006, 08:28 AM
:rain: :coffee: Good Morning Ladies!:rain: :coffee2:

Sugar-N-Spice- How are you today? Good for you, for avoiding temptation! :carrot:

Hun.e.B- Water aerobics does sound like fun, doesn't it? I love to swim, but I think I have grown to love working out alone. I used to go to a gym all the time (before I had my heart procedure), and they had a step aerobic teacher. She tried to be motivational, but I would be on a piece of equipment and she would get all hyper and in my face and say stuff like "come on girl... feel the burn!!! You can do it!!!!" and it would annoy the crap outta me. For aerobics that was fine, but when I'm sweating on a machine, and yes, indeed I feel the burn, I didn't need her drawing attention to me like that. (she did it to everybody) but, that's not what I joined the the gym for. I told her I couldn't go all fast unless she wanted to call an ambulance when my heart threw itself into a fit. Ahhhh, the good old days. :D I can do all kinds of stuff now.

miafluker - Hi! How are ya today?

09-07-2006, 10:51 AM
Good morning All!!!

Ok, I really need to start to dig in with the exercise with renewed passion. I sort of feel myself winding down and I don't want to. I have another 80 - 100 pounds to lose. Calories and fat to burn! Muscles to tone. Jiggles to tighten!!! I don't know yet if the winding down was due to fatigue and then just being on vacation. Or just laziness. Either way I need a shot in the arm, quick!

This will be the first week in about three weeks that I won't be getting six days in. I didn't exercise Monday or Wednesday. I did exercise this morning and I plan to do more when I get home. I have this horrible fear that I'll stop right here, and fail. I know it's irrational. I know that all I have to do is continue with what I've been doing. Just go through the motions.

Ok, that's enough whining. I know what I need to do, so I'll just have to do it, right? I guess it just makes me feel better to vent a bit. I'm fine. Onward and upward!!

Aqua - I know what you mean about the gym. Those people get on my nerves! What I hate is that the people at my fitness center are always bugging people about recruiting their friends. It's so annoying. Whenever they come over to help at me, they have a motive. So if you tell them that you're not going to do any recruiting for them, they are slow to help you. That's why I was only using my membership for the water aerobics. I have a lifetime membership that I finished paying for about 8 or 9 years ago.
I once took an aerobics class there and there was this hand movement that involved clapping. I was doing the movement except for the clap. Call me strange, but I just don't like clapping while I'm exercising. I always clap too hard and hurt my hands. Plus it's just an annoying distration to me. This woman was going nuts because I wasn't doing the clap.

Melissa - I hope you're able to make an appointment today. All this talk about water aerobics is tempting me to try it again. Maybe my skin will allow me to do it once a week. I would love to go on Fridays after work because it takes a lot more effort for me to make myself exercise on those days.
I'm glad you mentioned the bed because I meant to ask you about it. It sounds luxurious!

Danielle - It feels good to have a good eating and exercise day, doesn't it? It's great knowing that you've done something positive for your health. Keep it up chick!

Mia - I hope you were able to get some rest last night. Sorry no one was awake to play with you. :)

Have a great day everyone. BBL!

09-07-2006, 11:07 AM
Morning All. I am sick sick sick today. I was up most of the night because I couldn't stop coughing. Now this morning I can't breathe and my chest is major congested. It basically sux! On top of that we have ginormous rainstorms since last night. This equals big flooding here.

Mia, hope you finally got some sleep!

Aqua, I had a giggle over picturing you at the gym and some "Howie-wannabe" screaming at you and you basically telling her to go fly a kite. :D I actually don't think I'd do well in a gym setting. Too self conscious I think. Maybe when I don't look and feel huge? See? There I am trying to conform to society's standards without meaning to! Bah!

So girls, I am miserable today. gonna lay low I think and just take it easy. Now, if I get my heart rate up all I get is lots of coughing and feel like my lungs are gonna explode. So yep, gonna just take it easy and rest. Hopefully later I'll feel like I can workout- tomorrow's weigh in! gosh I hope I've lost something!lol

Check on ya'll in a bit.

09-07-2006, 11:36 AM
Danielle - If you feel that bad, it might not be a good idea to push yourself. Get some rest. If you're not better by tomorrow, or get worse, go and see your doctor. I hope you feel much better soon.

09-07-2006, 12:10 PM
Amany- Good Morning!!! :)

I am so glad you said you need to dig in with the exercise with renewed passion. We all need to dig deeper and remember that exciting feeling -like we had that first and second week- at some point. I needed to hear someone else say what I was thinking, thank you. I haven't stopped or anything, but you know what I mean. We have to keep telling ourselves it is for life, remember why we do it and that we need to love and embrace it. That avatar of yours is good motivation for me too!

You're not being irrational. You are breaking old patterns. That is why you are consiously reminding yourself to get back in the game. There isn't anything wrong with taking a break for a couple of days. Sometimes we need a break. You know you are in it for real this time, that is why you conscience won't cut you any slack. :)

Sugar-N-Spice- Aw, hon... Take it easy until you get to feeling better. Do you like chicken broth? I know it's a classic stand by, but it always feels good to me on cold rainy days, especially if I'm sick. It's not so bad for you either.

Yeah, I liked that lady at the gym, she was a nice person... but I felt funny with her all up in my grill - especially when I was on the squat machine. Have you ever tried one of those? I called it "the iron maiden". Every time I looked at it I got the willies. It's the machine you do last because you want to pretend it isn't there. Actually doing it was torture, let alone having someone all "can you feel the burn, can you feel the burn, ....???!!!!! " ACK!!!!!!!!!! I should have said something like " I feel like my thigh mucle is going to come bursting out of my leg and do a happy dance for freedom, does that count as a burn?" ;)

09-07-2006, 12:10 PM
Good morning Ladies!

I am sitting here sipping my yummy coffee and enjoying everybody's posts....except Danielle's! Oh darling....feel better soon! Get lots of rest and drink a ton of water water water. It's the magical elixir, I swear. I used to say that about wine (no joke, if I felt a cold coming on, I'd have a glass of wine), but then I hopped on the scale! :dizzy: And don't push yourself!

I did enjoy your post about the horoscope and standing in front of the pantry. That's so cool! I can't tell you how many times I've been bored and standing in front of the pantry. It's crazy. My dad and I read the Dr. Phil weight loss book, and I have to say.....that's one of his big things.....eating out of boredom. I knew I did it, but when I read the book, my eyes were completely opened. I recalled the numerous times I've eaten fattening snacks just because they were there in front of me and not because I was hungry or even craving them. Nuts. God bless my roommate, he's one of my best friends and I love him to death, but he keeps the WORST food in our house. He loves chips and anything made by Little Debby. And of course, he's rail thin. Grrrr. Though, he does exercise a lot.

Aqua: I laughed out loud when I pictured you doing the dance with the knee pumping and hand behind the head! I was so tempted to get up and do "the sprinkler" just for you! I'm so glad that you have your little boy to remind you of the beauty of unconditional love. What a cute little goober. But, remember, you are NEVER worthless because of a number on a scale. We are all beautiful, gorgeous, strong, determined women. :carrot:

Melissa: I hope you had a WONDERFUL birthday celebration with your family! And I'm so happy to hear about the new bed. I know exactly what you mean about laying in bed too long and feeling achey. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a terrible pain in my lower back because I had been laying on my back for so many consecutive hours. Though I know it's partially to do with age, I can't help but think that if I were at a healthy weight, those aches and pains wouldn't be quite so bad. I dunno.....I guess we'll have to wait and see!

And Amanda: We all have the days where we feel like we're just spinning our wheels, but girlpie.....don't you dare give up! You are such an inspiration to all of us and such a goal can't give up! We'd never survive without you, lady! Besides, you just got new shoes and you can't let those go to waste. No seriously, you doing such great work and taking such good care of yourself. It's hard when you look at the ultimate goal and think, "I have so far to go." But this isn't about quick results.....this is about a change of lifestyle and mindset.....and baby, you're there! It's not just about losing weight, it's about being healthy.....and you've taken SO many steps in that direction. Your exercise habits are unbelievable and your dedication is amazing. Yeah.....maybe you feel like there's a ways to go in terms of number, but that's the easy part. You've got the mindset.....and that's the hard part! I'm so proud of you and everything you've accomplished thus far, so hang in there! My dad has a saying, actually two that I think are appropriate here: 1) "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time" and 2) "If you have one foot on yesterday and one foot on tomorrow, you're just pi**ing on today." My dad is weird. But insightful.....hahahahaha! :D

Well, I finally got a tape measure and have posted my stats for the challenge! I'm so excited about this....and I think it's great that we're really just competing against ourselves.

Alright ladies, I suppose I should do some work. :(

09-07-2006, 12:20 PM
iwantnewpants- Hi!!!! :)

I'm having a black coffee right now. I almost never drink it anymore, but I was really in the mood this morning. I love coffee.

heheheheh... I have my tape measure in a little Chinese cup by the computer. Looks so innocent just sitting there... so harmless... just sitting there.... It's mocking me.

lol.. I'm just kidding. I hope my measurements will reflect my work in a positive way though. It's only the first week so I won't let it bug me too much.

Ah, found picture of "the iron maiden". Here she is.

and what an actual iron maiden is....

09-07-2006, 01:57 PM
Danielle - Sorry your not doing so well today I hope you feel better.
Aqua I hope you are doing good today. How's your excersize program going?
Amanda My walking is going good, This other lady from downstairs has decided to join Mary and I for our walks. And for an older lady she can walk!!!!
Liz I heard the Dr. Phil book was good But I have yet to read it.
Elycia, Melissa, Mia HunB I hope you ladies are doing good. What have you been up to?

Well I got a call from my Nana last night saying my sister was upset because I was loosing weight and supposibly she is upset about her stomache. My nana says she see's me and that I'm loosing weight and she feels bad, so my moms going to be dying her hair and buying more healthy food. I guess my grandma is going to be giving her my treadmill (I cant have it my apartment is 3 flights up) I feel bad that she feels that way. She's never told me anything. I dont see any changes inches wise, weight yes but inches no. I still think I look the same. more to come later i gotta get to work.

lovethatsara- Hi sweetheart! I'm doing great today, thanks for asking.

No need to feel bad. You didn't do it. She see's you being successful and it is making her realize she wants and needs to make some changes for the better in her life. I'm proud of you for being a good example, and an inspiration to your sister. I am also proud of your Mom and you Nana for assisting her in making those first crucial steps to self improvement. God Bless you ladies for that.

miafluker- Hi!

I'm doing really great so far. :D Looks like you are really getting yourself revved up! That is great! Everytime I see you all get new videos, or have new realizations about weight loss it just makes my adreniline zoom. I want to be successful too!

Could be water weight. Weight can fluctuate big time in the course of a day, it's so weird.

Good Morning/Afternoon everyone! Yes I'm just getting out of bed! and its almost noon. I played hooky today. I didnt originally intend to but everytime i got up to get ready for class my calf would cramp, I took it as a sign and stayed in bed. LOL! Plus, I think Danielle is sharing her cold with me! I dunno why she feels she needs to be so generous! Either that or the smoke is just getting to me and flaring up some allergies. Whatever it is, its miserable. And I made that doctors appointment for Sept 28th.

Another carrot dance for Mia!!! Yay!!

Dont forget that tomorrow we do check in for the challenge, that means you get to mock that tape measure right back! LOL!!

I'm sorry I didnt do personals now, but I'll be back after a bit to catch up with everyone!! Today is definetly gonna be my day off but i cant relax when there is a mess, so I'm gonna straighten things out, and since my leg isnt hurting at all I'm going to hop on my elliptical for 10 minutes. See how it goes and ya never know I just might do 10 or 20 more!! Babysteps right!

Have a great afternoon everyone!

Hello Ladies,
Not doing too good right now. I have had the plumers at my house since the beginning of the week and they still have to come back. Needless to say that I havnt done any exercising. I kinda have been watching what I eat. I do want to get up in the Am and get back into motion.
Hopefully my step son will be out of my house here in a few weeks and that stress will be gone. Now I had to spend yesturday at my sons dentist off for him to get his teeth fixed. Monday the school theraptist has called and we have to meet at the school to start my daughters Mental Health Appoitments. ( Thank God, Finally) She said it would be a few week before they could tell me what meds she will have to be on.
The Granddaughter is gone and have some dissapoitment with her mother. She wouldnt put the dress on her that I made her so I could see her and get a picture that didnt go well. Their is alot more then that tooo.
Other then jest being busier then dirt here latley I do want to get back into the swing of things I have to. I am hopefully getting my new computer this weekend and I am going to be getting high speed internet it takes me forever on this dial up. So I will check in as I can I hope for the best. Well Better be going Iam making fresh bread and it smells like it is almost done.
Congrats to everone and Hope everyone is on plan.

Hi guys!

Sara: Don't feel bad about making these postive changes.....Aqua is totally right. Your sister probably just feels bad because she realizes she should make changes too. Just be as supportive as possible.

Mia: Hey lady! I'm so happy to hear about the 2 pounds. I read this article (I'll have to see if I can find the link) that your weight does fluctuate every day and that as long as it doesn't go up by 2-3%, you need not worry about weight gain.

And Bonnie: It's good to see you! I'm sorry to hear about the plumbers being at your house and about the strife with your daughter. Hang in there....we're all here to support you!

Hello Chicks!!!! :)

Hun.e.B- Hi! Sorry to hear you are a bit under the weather today. I think allergies could be the culprit, but this time of year colds and flu are awful too. I had a runny nose for a few days but thank God that's as bad as it got.

She wouldn't let her wear Gramma's dress? Well. That's not nice! I think even if she wasn't fond of it she should have put it on her and had a picture done for you, as much as you love that baby. ((((((Hun.e.B)))))).

Mmmmm, the smell of fresh bread. :)

miafluker- I like that idea, one day is only 24 hours, tomorrow is a new day. That's cool. :)

iwantnewpants- Hey!

Amanda: Girl you need some fire under you. :flame: :flame: :flame: Don't you dare slow your pace, you've been one of main motivators. Reading about what you do and accomplish each day. Shake It off, and lets go get those pounds.

Aqua: HELLO!!!!

Mia: You and I both need some kicking. I didn't exercise 2 days this week already. Not happy about that at all, but I'll make up for it. Congrats on the 2 pounds. :carrot:

Alright, I dunno about you guys but I need the exercise bug to bite me in the butt!! What is it gonna take? I see a couple of us struggling with that, putting something else before our own health. Thats a habit we ALL need to break! I'm gonna set a goal for myself (a baby goal but a goal none the less) I WILL exercise 3 times before next friday. Thats it...3 times, I can do that right? And then after I reach that goal I'm going to buy myself a new shirt. New shirts make me feel good so I deserve one!

Who else is with me, who else is going to set a little goal for yourself and just do it? Dont you deserve a little reward for it to? I know I'm not alone here. 7 eensy weensy days is all we have to work on it, we'll tackle the next 7 days later. Darn it I'm gonna do this!!

09-07-2006, 08:28 PM
OMG!! I just looked at our challenge thread and has anyone seen Aqua's and Liz's exercise minutes for the week!!! You girls rock!!! Liz did 150 minutes today!! Okay, if you can crank out those minutes I can surely do some too right!

Also, what happened to Kandice?

sapphire35- Hi! I hope all is well with you today! :)

Hun.e.B- I know you can do it! Once you start, it might take a bit, but eventually you will look forward to it. It starts to feel really nice.

I tread all day
I tread all night
My bottom lip I no longer bite
I hop on and move
When my fat is gone
I'll look so smoooooth...

Yes, Im feeling ridiculous. You all know me by :smoking:

I'm gonna confess something before tomorrow morning, because I think this is important for all of us to realize. You all know I have been treading. One day I did Billy Blanks too, but I thought I was gonna die the next day so I'm sitting on that for a while. Anyway, my confession is that my weight HAS NOT MOVED. Why? I don't know for sure. My cycle is around the bend, but I hate to blame that, but it is possible. I have been doing WW, and it's yum, but I am seriously considering a major tweak in my diet... again. Nothing like a liguid diet or something crazy like that, but for a couple of days a week to start just going raw vegetarian and seeing if I like it and how it goes. I have been reading up on it all week (raw vegetarianism) and I think I might like it, or I should say, like it a couple of days a week. I like fresh fruits and veggies. I don't know. Maybe I'm grasping at straws again out of disappointment because of that :censored: scale. I have taken some time to think about it, and it would be healthy to do, but I only know if I can deal if I try.

What I think is important for us to know is that sometimes the scale is not friggin' gonna move no matter what you do, it ain't gonna, don't wanna, so you have to accept it. It hurts. But we can't give up when this kind of thing happens. We might need to make changes. Maybe I need to do something else. Maybe I do need to add a video or something to my regime, maybe it's a plateau?

miafluker- Hi! :)

09-07-2006, 10:35 PM
Promise to get to all the personals in the morning. Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement.

AquaChick - Try giving it another week before you make any decisions. Ride that out first and see how it goes. There are times when the scale won't budge and then, all of a sudden, WHOOOOSH!!

You're doing all the right things, so try being patient with yourself a bit. Changing your exercise won't hurt if you're no longer challenged. But if you are just continue.

Ok. Good night everyone. I want you all to know that I did indeed exercise this evening. :D I'm going to stick with it. I guess it just all seems so overwhelming at times.

Night! :grouphug:

09-07-2006, 10:37 PM
Good night Amany. Thanks for the words of encouragement. :)

09-07-2006, 10:58 PM
Aqua, I sure hear you loud & clear in regards to the scale. If the numbers aren't moving for you, for sure your measurements are changing! I think you're definitely shrinking (remember the pinks pants?!) but building up some nice healthy muscles. If it were me (and clearly, I am not you.... :D ) I would maybe change up the exercise a couple days a week before I changed anymore eating habits. You seem to be doing so well with the WW...are you getting in enough calories??? That could be a big culprit too. Also, one week without a change on the scale doesn't necessarily mean you've plateau'd per se..I would ride it out a little bit. IMO you wouldn't be hurting yourself any. I know you will choose the right thing to do no matter what, just be careful.

Melissa, you can definitely do 3 days! 3 measley days, you deserve to do this for yourself at the very least. You are preachin to the choir sister about the exercise..I am the queen of procrastination when it comes to the workouts, and you know how much I hate that! If *I* can do it 5 days this week, then you certainly can do 3. :carrot: I hope you had a good day off and ended up feeling alot better. It seems like the sicky is going around, no?

Sara, I'm sorry to hear about your sister being so upset. Just try and be there for support, and just think that you are inspiring her to take care of her own health too. Be strong, you can do this! So now you've got 2 walking buddies!!! :cb:

Liz & Trish, I hope you ladies had terrific days today! :)

Amanda, I am happy to hear that you worked out tonight. You have been one of my biggest motivators here, and please believe me that you have inspired me to get off my butt and just do it. If you can get yourself out of bed at the buttcrack of dawn to workout & then go to work all day, then I can certainly do it at 9am after I get my kids off to school! I think we all get to a point where we all get overwhelmed by looking at the amount of weight we've got to lose and think, "will I ever get there"? I know you can do this, you're too damn important to not see this through. We are all here for you lady, so don't think for a minute that you're alone in this. I hope you wake up tomorrow full of energy and get back to feeling like your old self.

Bonnie, I am so bummed about the dress thing that happened with your grandbaby and her mama. What the heck? She couldn't indulge you even for just 1 picture?? I find that to be simply just rude rude rude! I hope the stuff with your son gets better soon so you can find some peace. Hurry up chicky, we're waiting for you on the wagon, all ya gotta do is jump on!!! :) Getting back to a normal routine of good eating and exercise will do wonders for how you're feeling, I just know it!

Mia, great job getting rid of the extra 2lbs. I am trying to lose the 2 I seem to have found this week as well. I hope tomorrow's weigh in gives me the answers I want. I know you will get those workouts in!! You need your bank to keep growing and growing!!!

Where in the world did Kandice go?????????????? Yoo hoo!!! Sweetie if you're out there, we'd love to hear from you lady! We miss you!

I am feeling loads & loads & loads better this evening. A day of doing absolutely nothing but watching the tube and reading my book. I just finished about 15 min. on the exerball and some weights. Tomorrow I should be ready to rock n roll just in time for weigh in and measurments!

P.S. Aqua & Liz, you guys are kicking some serious butt with the exercise! Holy cow, that is truly inspiring!!!!! And here I think I've done some good time by doing 50! lol Keep up the great work girls, you're awesome!!!!

09-07-2006, 11:06 PM
Aqua....its okay for that scale to stall sometimes, your body is just playing catch up, plus remember you dont lose pounds and inches at the same time. So if the scales not moving the measuring tap will! Keep up the good work!! I dont know if I could do vegetarianism. Eating too many veggies makes my tummy really gassy. Sorry I'm sure thats TMI LOL!!

Amanda.....great job getting that exercise done!!!

I slept till almost noon today and I'm going to bed early! Hopefully tomorrow I'll have so much energy I wont know what to do with myself. its our icecream social at the school, not sure I should be serving icecream if I'm sickie! Have a wonderful night all!!

09-07-2006, 11:16 PM
Hello everyone:

Sara, you are doing so awesome. Keep up the spectacular job that you are doing. 15 lbs! :cp: you are really working hard and it is paying off for you. Please don't let your sister being upset with you get you down. You are making great choices and that is a great example for your sister. It won't be too long and your sister will probably be coming to you asking "How are you doing it?" You will reach your goal.

Mia, so you won TJ? Allright! When you get it, definitely post how you like it. I have CP2 and I still have never gotten around to doing it. I am in the middle of a FIRM rotation right now and it's been pretty fun, but boy is it tough! I have both quick fix and 10 minute solution workouts. They are nice when you don't have that much time and want to get some activity. Recently I got Bootcamp Kickbox (10 minute sol) with Keli Roberts. Whew, that lady is a toughie! Those are really good.

Trish! How ya doin' lady? Good to see you. You are just full of good cheer with all the little emoticons. :) Have you pulled out any of those workout videos? I know you might feel a little cooky, but I tell ya, I just love em. 1) I am in the comfort of my own home 2) I don't have to wear anything special or worry about how I look 3) I can pick whatever type of workout I want 4) I don't have to depend on the weather being cooperative. I could think of a thousand reasons why I love working out at home, so of course I am a HUGE advocate of it. I've had gym memberships, but so many things have stood in the way of me getting there regularly, that I just decided to do it at home. Now when I get close to goal and really want to build some muscle tone, I will probably have to join a gym to use the nautilus machines. Well, I got off on one of my tangents. :D What it really comes down to though is what you will do or enjoy. You'll obviously be more apt to do if you like it. You'll figure it out.

Well, catch you guys later.

09-08-2006, 02:25 AM
Hey ladies,

I GET TO STAY HERE THIS WEEKEND!!!!!! i'm so happy. i really need to study for my chemistry class. Nothing really new. Dont really have anything to vent about...its kinda weird huh? lol. Anyways i'm having a hard time getting things done. like cleaning my apartment...its not dirty, well i dont think it is. I cant see the floor because my clothes are on it!!! lol i know i'm horrible. But really. I cant really seem to move my butt to work out. Its really starting to annoy me. Tomorrow i'm going to get up and clean my whole apartment...well as much as i can. I need to buy a broom. my apartment maintance stole mine and i bought a mop tonight instead of a broom. great right? anyways i think i'm just going to have to figure out a workout program. Study in the morning and work out after class at 6, come home take a shower, eat, tv and then bed. sound good? Should i really take my measurements? i mean i'm only going to weight once a month. If i did it any more than that i would go crazy freaking out over why its not moving. I think i'm going to weight at golds gym once a month so i dont buy a scale and drive myself crazy...okay personals

Elycia- your baby twins are sooooo cute. I love twins. I have cousins that are twins and they just started kindergarden soooo cute.

Melissa- girl i wish i could sleep that long!!! i hope you feel better tomorrow and just dont smell the icecream!!! lol

Danielle- glad your feeling better chica...sometimes we just need to do nothing but rest up and everything gets better!!

Aqua- try eating a burger or something. Honestly ive had friends up the calories and the weight just dropped off. my advice, go out to eat with your family, or cook at home and slurge a little.

Bonnie- sweety i know all about family problems. its really hard to deal with sometimes and even harder being a mother, or so i'm told. Sometimes the best thing to do is ignore it and let your kids screw up there lives and then fix it themselves. I bet the dress is adorable!!! sorry about the plumbers!!! hope they are gone soon. good luck with everythign thought.

A big HELLO to everything that i missed. i love all you chicas!!!
have a good night!!

09-08-2006, 05:28 AM
Sugar-N-Spice- Thanks for the wisdom... Yeah, I lost some in my waist and hips. That explains saggy pants. I gained in my arm. I carry 5 pound weights while I tread, that bulked them up a lot. I have decided to drop the weights from the tread... and *gasp* train on jogging. (Amany faints) lol... I can't run at all, I look ridiculous when I do!!! But I thought long and hard tonight about what I can do on my favorite piece of machinery to change my routine. Training to jog/run is great. You burn more calories, gain endurance, and to become a good runner eventually... you have to have an ever changing pattern. So, I will start small. Jog a few minutes, walk, jog a few minutes, walk. I hope that will help me build some endurance and also produce better results. Still tossing the raw veggie thing around. If I do it, I will be very health concsious about it. Thank you for the nice compliment about my workout minutes. I have grown to love my treadmill. I would feel very guilty to look at it for a day and know I didn't take 'er for a spin. :D

Hun.e.B- Thank you for saying that. I did lose some measurement in my waist and hips. Not a ton, but enough to make my pink sweats a thing of the past. :D Sounds like you need to recoup some energy in you body. Please, take good care of yourself.

brat_61886- Cleaning burns calories. :D
Yeah, I'm sure you could squeeze in 30 minutes a day. Even a brisk walk sometime in your day would be a good start. I know you can do it. It might even ease some of your study stress and such.
I think it's cool to measure yourself once a month, if that's how often you feel it's best to weigh in.
I don't think I can bring myself to go outside WW (or veggie if that's the route I try for a couple of days). I have a fear that I will not make it out. I mean, I would be scared that I would go back to some old ways. I have really screwed myself in the past by thinking, just this once, and then that turns into a binge or I feel I failed and give up. I'm not ready yet. I get what your saying though, an extra amount of calories to switch it up a bit. :)

09-08-2006, 07:02 AM
Good morning ladies... long time no chat... I have been so busy with back to school that my head was spinning. Of course, I had trouble sleeping the night before the kids came, so yesterday when I got home... I napped for two hours. I had to skip my night class because I was having trouble functioning.. How sick is that? I just wrote the prof, got my work, and hopefully it wont be too bad to make up the work. Life happens... Anyway, I am trying to get myself on schedule so that I can work in the gym after school. Cannot go early since I leave at 620 am. But I think my body just needs to get used to what is going on... Tomorrow is the big weigh in day, so we shall see how that goes... then i have a birthday party to go to.... Hope all is well and I was reading all of your blogs... it has been a busy couple of days... i will try and check in tonight, but if not... definitely tomorrow after weigh in.... ta ta for now

09-08-2006, 07:38 AM
Good morning everyone!

Ok, I think I'm averaging a meltdown about once every 12 - 14 days. Would that be accurate? :dunno:

Liz- I love your dad's analogy about the elephant. It was fitting. I'm thinking of all these fitness goals I'd like to accomplish. Five minute miles, being able to do 20 pushups, etc, etc...
So I find myself wanting to rush to do those things, but I can't. Then it just becomes overwhelming. I really need to give myself more time. I haven't done those things in years!
Also, part of me is afraid to hope I can lose this week. I remember thinking when I was younger that if I ever got over 200 pounds that I would just give up. I'd didn't see myself being able to lose after that. So, it's a little bit of that too. So, now, I'll just imagine myself eating an elephant. :) Starting at the ears. It will take a while to get to the toes! Thanks Liz. You're right about the pi**ing on today too. I gotta stop doing that.... :o  BTW, keep up the good work. Your exercise is awesome!

Aqua What does the tape measure say when it's mocking you. That was so funny.
You're want to jog too?! That's fantastic. No, I didn't quite faint. But you could have knocked me over with a feather! I thought I was the only one that had dreams of running around in circles! Running feels good. Even when I'm running in place, even though it's hardly the same, it feels good.
I think changing up your exercise is a good idea. Your muscles become adjusted to the same exercise very quickly. So they will reward you for challenging them. Yes, it will hurt at first. Then it will get better, and you're doing such a good job! I can't tell you what those lunges did to me in that bellydance video! My legs hurt for two days and I finally broke down and took some Advil and later on some Tylenol. I did the bellydance again last night and my legs don't feel nearly as bad. In fact they feel just fine. And I know I'm starting to get a better all around workout.
Oh that blasted scale!! I'm so glad Melissa has us measuring. Sometimes that scale just isn't going to tell you what you've done. And, even though I hate blaming AF too, sometimes we start to retain water before she shows up. And we might keep it until she leaves! Danielle is right. Think of those pink pants! If your legs and hiney can't hold them up any longer, then you've definitely lost something! :D
Veggies are our friends! :) If you only do raw veggies for a couple of days I don't see how it could hurt. I think you'd need some source of protein too though. Like soy or something. That's just my guess. I'm not very knowledgeable with nutrition.
I'm glad you like my avatar! I thought I was the only one motivated by it. She's a woman and she's a fighter! I love it! Man, once I'm in shape like her, you could put me in a boxing ring, bring out my opponent and I'd...... RUN!!!!! :lol3: I'd be in great shape though.

Danielle! I hope you're feeling better today lady. Thank you for the encouragement. You always know just what to say. :) I think I am starting to feel like my old self again. I just needed to take the same advice I gave Aqua and heed to advice to me and be patient with myself.
I'm glad I'm able to motivate you and anyone else that reads my posts. It's a fair exchange because this is where I get my support and encouragement. I know I've said it many times, but I really feel indebted to you ladies. You all keep me going.
I'm glad you're feeling better!

Hi Sara - I'm glad the workouts are going well.

Melissa - You always give us what we need to keep us going. Thank you, than you, thank you. How do you do it?
You're right. The exercise bug needed to show up again and get us going.

Trish- Thank you lady. You're right. I need to just shake this off and keep going. Thanks for the :flame:  I have to keep it up. I have some obligations here! I'm so glad you dropped by the cheer team. ;)

 Bonnie:hug: - I'm so sorry to hear of the ordeals you've had. I wish you'd have been able to see your granddaughter in the dress. Hopefully her mom will have her wear it later on and send you a picture. Do you think she'd send you a picture if you asked her?
Oh the plumber.... Ouch! I know that's stressful and expensive. I hope it doesn't last long.
I'm glad to hear your getting back in the fight today. We need you! We've been struggling and we need your energy!!!! Let's hold each other up and keep going.

Mia- Congrats on the shrinking poundage!!! :bravo:

Tricia and Britt - Once you guys get into your schedules, you'll find the time to exercise. Of course you'll have to carve that time out, but you'll both find it.

Well, I'd better go. I just completed my Walk and Jog video. I was thinking of trying the water aerobics today. If I don't think my skin can take it, I think I'll spend some with you-know-who :drill:.

You know what? My appetite in the mornings is diminishing. But if I don't eat, I spend the rest of the day hungrier. Lately I'ven eating two boiled eggs and two sausage patties in the morning. Maybe I'll just have one of each.

Oh yeah...

I think I can start cutting all the calories from my salads. No more salad dressing!! Lately I've been seasoning my meat. With lower sodium seasoning though and adding some salsa or pico and about a tablespoon of low fat sour cream. When I do that, I find that I don't really need the salad dressing.

09-08-2006, 08:03 AM
TriciaK- Hi! Good to see you. School does make you busy, I understand that. You have a lot of things going on right now. We need time to adjust, but eventually we always adapt. I hope the birthday party is fun, and I hope the weigh in goes well... but if your weight changed as much as mine, here is a hug in advance.... .... and try not to worry about it. (but I hope it moves in your favor :) ).

Amany- "Man, once I'm in shape like her, you could put me in a boxing ring, bring out my opponent and I'd...... RUN!!!!!"

 You prefer peace, there's no shame in that!!! At least you'll look like the wrong chick to mess with. :D I have high hopes to end up looking like one of those chicks too.

The tape measure? Well, I'm not sure what it says, it lives in a Chinese tea cup so it speaks Chinese. I can just tell by it's tone that it's mocking me. ;)

I can't say I'm having fanciful dreams of sprinting through the fields....yet...., but I definately need to kick my workout into place for this week. I also will have to keep getting up early to begin my jogging training. I have to avoid my husband standing beside me and imitating my running stance while I'm on the treadmill as he's saying "Run Forrest!!!! RUN!!!!" I get so mad, but I laugh and feel like I'm gonna slip right off the doggone thing.

Uggghhhhh, the LEGS!!!! They can really make you suffer when you give them some serious training.

I'm so glad she has us measuring. Seeing the scale at a standstill might have ruined my whole week if I didn't see some physical loss.

I already got my tread in. I walked 9 minutes, jogged 4 minutes in rotation at 3.2 miles per hour, for one hour solid. I did pretty good until the last 4 minute jogging stretch. Then I just wanted off, I finished though. If I wouldn't have finished it would have bothered me all day.

I do not blame you for getting rid of the salad dressing. That stuff sneaks up on you so bad! Salsa or pico is an awesome idea. I'm picky about salsa, sometimes the salsa in jars at the store is so nasty! Bitter like. Blech. Do you have any Chevy's Mexican restaurants in Detroit? Oh my goodness, their salsa is divine!!!! I could pull up a bowl of that and drink it with a straw! If you have never been to Chevy's, I highly suggest you try it if you get the chance. They don't use anything canned. Everything is 100% fresh.

Anyway, have fun with :drill: I be around later! :)

Hello Ladies--- Melissa (Hun.e.B) has given me directions on how to find this group again. How is everyone doing?

09-08-2006, 10:25 AM
Good Morning Ladies,

Going to get my shoes on this morning and walk up town it is a mile their and a mile back . I think Iam going to pop into a few stores too and look around now I have some Free time no children and No Plumber although he will be out next week to fix the leak under the house. At least Now it dont 20 min to fill the sink up.
I am going to send my Soon to be daughter in law a email and ask her to send me a picture in the dress . She wants me to send her a copy of all the pictures that we took while they were here. It will be next week when I get high speed . Dial up takes 30 min to send a pic.
Other then that I am doing fine I got up this morning and ate my1 cup Rolled Oat meal with a 1/2 cup of Low fat yogurt and a apple. The few days I didnt eat this I could tell this will hold me till lunch and I wont feel hungry and that makes me feel good.
I am going to get my shoes on and hit the side walk I need to stop and take a few address down I complained to the mayor about the weeds being as tall as Iam and the bees and sand stickers so the state is going to check to see who has to take care of the problem. So I better be going More later.

Good Friday Morning lovelies!!! I'm so glad its friday! another busy day on the slate for me, I'm armed with my advil cold and ready to hit it running! Okay not running more like a step and a limp but I'm going none the less! LOL!

Brittni...I hope cleaning goes well for you! I've got a whole housefull to do myself but theres always something more important to get done. I'm wondering if this not wanting to exercise bug that most of us are struggling with has something to do with the change in season. I think we naturally start slowing down come fall. But we must overcome that!!! Planning ahead will definetly help! You can do it!

Danielle...I think I missed you yesterday somehow...shame on me! LOL! I hope you are feeling even better this morning than last night. Have you heard from bob recently? I miss him!

Aqua....WOOOHOO she's shrinking everyone!!! Even a little loss showing is pretty darn amazing considering its only been a week! Proof is in the pudding there girlie!! Like danielle said its enough to get rid of those pink sweatpants!! Are the grey ones going too? Congrats on a very successful week!! Tread tread tread!!!!

Tricia...Good morning!!! It takes a little time to get back used to the school schedule! You'll do it! Your body just needs to catch up now! I hope the WI goes great for you tomorrow! Cant wait to see the results!

Amanda...good morning sunshine!! Encouraging and supporting you guys is easy because you make it that way! You really are an astounding bunch of ladies! I've got this nasty habit of finding it easier to help someone else than to help myself. So I focus more on that. I think you are right about not needing salad dressing if you really flavor up the meat you use on it. Even salsa is better than that dressing. I've never gotten the hang of the taste of using just balsalmic vinegar or whatever it is they recommend now. Gotta have that breakfast though...thats what gets your metabolism going for the rest of the day!!

Kenya!!! Yay! You made it!! I was so happy to see your smiling face here this morning!! How is everything going plan wise?? 3 more lbs and you have lost 100!!!! I'm so excited for you!!! Jump right in where you can! I've missed tons the past week and these wonderful ladies just keep carrying me along!

Bonnie...right back on that train!!! Good for you!! The bees are terrible here this year too, I've heard its because the winters are so mild lately that they didnt get killed off last year. I hope it doesnt happen again this winter or we are going to be infested!! How was that walk?!

Alright! Time to get going! I hope everyone has the BEST day, its friday!! Any fun weekend plans? Its homework and housework for me..whooopie!! Oh and 3 days of exercise!!!! I can do it!! I'll check on you later after the icecream social!!

TGIF! Good Morning Gang!

I don't have lots of time right now but just wanted to share my good news! I lost 2 pounds and 5.5 inches!!!! :dancer:

Anywho, I gotta scoot- kids to school- BBL

09-08-2006, 12:15 PM
Melissa my walk was great I left here at 9:50 and it was 11:15 when I walked back in the house. Felt great Now I have Chicken breast in the oven . Check back later.

09-08-2006, 12:23 PM
rkrs6673- Hi! :) I'm doing pretty good, how are you doing? I hope all is well with you.

Butterfly50- Good morning! Good for you getting a walk in! :) Glad to hear you have a temporary fix on that plumbing situation. Things like that are small in the grand scheme of things, but they cause so much aggitation and stress. :( Sounds like you got your plans going in motion for your day, now I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hun.e.B- Aw... a step and a limp... that is sad. I hope you get to feeling better.

Thank you so much for all the kudos for shrinking a little bit. :) I was sorta disappointed last night, but I'm over it. It will come off. I know it will. These things take time, and it's so hard to accept that sometimes, especially when you are trying to do everything right. My gray ones aren't gone as of yet, but I predict one week, two weeks tops. I also have some blue jogging pants that I thought were gonna fall down and expose my rear in the store this morning! :o I didn't realize they were getting so loose until I was already pushing the cart in the door! The bottom of the legs of the pants were getting caught under the heel of my shoes! I looked at them when I got home and I can see how my stomach had streched the elastic out quite badly on top. I never knew it before, because my belly pressure had been holding them up. My waist and hips are the first things shrinking, so that's why I can see it now. Amazing.

Sugar-N-Spice- ACK!!!! I'm SOOOOO JEALOUS!!! Congratulations are in order for you! :carrot: :cb: :high: :cheer:

Wow, I hope I will see some more obvious improvement next week. I have made some changes in my workout and I am going to eat raw veggies today as a dry run to see how I can handle that. I'm hoping I can do that a couple of days a week. It would probably help a lot.

09-08-2006, 12:48 PM
:coffee: :cheer: Good Morning Ladies!!!! :cofdate: :cheer:

I got a really good workout in yesterday at the gym. I had missed 2 days already this week and felt guilty. I love the idea of the water aerobics you ladies were talking about. So I paid for one session on saturday morning. Hopefully I'll like it and I will mix it in with my weekly workout at the gym.

The month of september seems to be flying by already. We're going to be at the end of this challenge before we know it. I feel like I really need to kick it up a Notch (BAM).:carrot: Lets all Kick it up a notch for the next couple of weeks, lets push ourselves just a little bit more each week. :lifter: I want to see us all tie at the end of the challenge.

Melissa and Aqua: you two already kicking up a notch, weigh to Go!:woops: Congrats on the inches lost Aqua.;)

Danielle - Hello awesome job on the pounds and inches lost, they're just slipping away.:)

Bonnie: Hello, and have a nice walk today, now thats the way to kick it up! You Go Girl. :running:

U2girl: How are you? No I have not done a video since Saturday, just the gym. I feel alone and quirkie when I do the videos at home. I truly believe I need that gym environment to make me feel like i'm achieving something. I know that is weird. But I like the variety of equipment they have. I know when winter comes I'm going to want to stay in the house, thats probably when I will break out the videos more. I think I'll do my pilates on sunday, because my gym is closed on Sundays, and I did miss 2 days this week already, so that will make up for it. But its going to have to be early, because I am a MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR football fan. And I know my husband is going to want to go somewhere and watch all the Games. Maybe Ozzie Sportbar or Ameristar Sports bar. During Football season we go watch all the Games somewhere every Sunday. Hows your two little ladies?

Hello: Britt, Iwantnewpants, sara, Tricia, Mia

Hi Kenya: Wonderful job on the weightloss. Man your going to have share your secret, very impressive. I hear you live in st. louis along with u2girl and myself. Thats neat, we're also so close we'll have to get together one day and share stories. :cofdate:

Gotta go Ladies I'll check in throughout the day.

09-08-2006, 12:56 PM
Thanks sapphire35

Good job going to the gym. I like that "BAM!!! Kick it up a notch!!!!" :D :carrot:

09-08-2006, 01:00 PM
AquaChick! - :nono: You can't be flashing people in the grocery store. Your husband will not like it! Congrats on yet another nsv. It feels good, doesn't it? I'm glad that we're all starting to see the fruits of our labor. Thank God! I'd hate to think these emotional roller coasters we're on are for nothing! Great job chicky!
I've never been to a Chevy's. I'll have to look it up and see if we have one in the Metro area. Don't you just love an alernative. We don't have to eat all that fatty stuff. A tablespoon of my low fat sour cream is 20 calories and 1.5 fat grams. That's huge trade off. Especially considering that I don't really care for low fat salad dressing. And fat free just makes me gag!
You're just smokin on that tread sister! Once I'm wamed up, I love the way it feels to jog in place.

Hi Bonnie - Glad to hear you're back in the game. I'm glad all the chaos didn't make you throw in the towel. I've blown many a weight loss and fitness plan over a bad incident. Only to revisit it 20 - 30 pounds later. I just love your focus and commitment to making your life better.
BTW, you're going to love high speed internet. I'll never go back to dial-up. High speed internet (or dsl if I must) is one luxury I'll have to always hold on to.

Danielle :bravo: - Congrats on the loss lady! That exercise paid off!

Melissa - You gave us some timely advice. You're right. It's really tempting to wind down this time of year. I'm always thinking of wrapping up in a wool blanket on the couch in front of the television. Comfort food on hand. You always keep us in line. Make sure you start giving yourself the same care. I hope you feel better soon.

 My dang blasted scale has not arrived yet! The one I ordered that measures body fat and weight. I'm sort of glad in a way. If it's not here I can't use it every 2 hours. I'm going to start laying off the scale until weigh in days.

09-08-2006, 01:06 PM
Hi Amanda: I didn't forget you.;) You were in my head the whole time but i forgot to post. I'm so proud of you for workout last night. I knew you would. It sounds like your stomach is shrinking, so that appetite is decreasing is wonderful news. I'm in the same boat there, I can hardly eat anything anymore. Alls I eat for breakfast is fruit, plums, bananas, or blackberries. Maybe 1 packet of oatmeal on sunday with the baby. And I always pack a lunch and I make it very light just a meat, 1 large spoon of vegetables. For Dinner I'm eating meat again small portion, vegetable, and 1/2 a carb. Its working out great, I'm down 9 lbs all together in 3 weeks since I started. I like seeing the weight go down, thats what keeping me pumped up. Plus looking at your 19 to 20 lb weight loss. lol.

Take care!! We're counting on you and Aqua to keep us motivated!! I know thats a lot pressure isn't it? LOL. :)

09-08-2006, 01:10 PM
Hey Sapphire. I missed you while I was typing. Hope you're having a good day. I see the exercise bug has struck again...
Nine pounds in three weeks is outstanding. That doctor of yours will be very impressed on your next visit. All your hard work is rewarding you. Great job!
It's nice to not feel the need to eat everything in sight! I know how you feel.

09-08-2006, 01:25 PM
Sheesh! I feel like I've run 5 miles already and it's only 9! Of course there was no running involved but the whirlwhind that is my youngest DD makes me feel that way! lol She had school pictures today and of course nothing could go right. She spilled mouthwash on her shirt she was wearing, then changed what she wanted done for her hair, decides I get to curl it all over...mind you all this takes place 25 min. before she has to leave! She's in 5th grade! I shudder to think what high school's gonna be like! We've had this drama every single year for picture day since kindergarten, shame on me for thinking today would be any different. LOL So now.....silence.....just me, GMA, and the computer! :D

Brittni, heya sweets. Yes, I am definitely feeling better today, thank you! You will be burning calories doing that housecleaning today, throw on some music while you're doing it and burn even more!! You will find your groove soon, and exercise will become a routine. Hey, if I can do it, anybody can!

Aqua, I like your idea for the treadmill. That sounds like something that will definitely get you ready for running. Best of luck with the veggie is so not for me. Like Melissa, that's just asking for trouble in the gas department. Always remember that you are melting melting melting, no matter what that stinkin' scale says!!!

Tricia, it's good to see you today! I think once you get a schedule going with exercise it will become so much easier, I know you'll get it soon! Have fun at the birthday party, enjoy your friends/family as much as the food that I'm sure will be there. Why is it that whenever we start to cut down or limit our intake of foods, suddenly everything we see looks so darn good? lol

Amanda, Ok, I think I'm averaging a meltdown about once every 12 - 14 days. Would that be accurate? Ohhhhh Amanda, if only this were true for me! LOL I think I average one about every 3 days! I had a good giggle over that one, because my hubby constantly teases me about this! I told him that if men had to endure all that us girls do, they'd be crying like babies! Girl power! I too, loved the elephant analogy, it's perfect. So just keep munchin' chicky, you will get there sooner than you think. ;) You definitely need to be patient with yourself, but most of all BE KIND TO YOU!! You're an amazing woman with amazing spirit, don't ever forget it! It's just weight, lady, you can conquer it, show it who's boss!! Think Laila!

Bonnie, it's great to hear you back on track! I know the last few weeks have been strenuous to say the least, but hang in there. Look back at the weeks before at all the amazing progress you made, you can do it again! Enjoy the peace & quiet a little, I say some shopping is in order! :D

Melissa, hey girly. I hope that today you are feeling a little bit better. That dr's appt. can't come soon enough IMO. You've suffered for so long with it, I really hope it's nothing too serious. On the other hand I would hate for you to wait all this time and for those "brilliant" doctors to say, "oh, you just need to lose some weight". lol Hopefully there will be a fix to this sooner than later. Bob is still speaking to me, he whispers to me every day regardless if I choose to see him or someone else. I love my dates with him tho, today we have one for when I get back from the grocery. Yipee!

Kenya, it's wonderful to see you sweetie!!! How are you??? You're weightloss so far is truly amazing lady! Keep up the fabulous work, you are gonna be one hot mama!!!

Trish, yes, the pounds are slipping away, but I really wish they would just get up and run already!!!! lol Great job getting to the gym! I really hope you enjoy your water class, I hear that it's amazing. Let us know how it goes!

OH Aqua!!! I forgot to ask....have you found a translator for your chinese measuring tape yet? :dizzy: Maybe hearing it in chinese will sound better than english? lol

Alrighty ladies, I'm off to the grocery. I swear, I HATE going there! :tantrum: I feel like I am there so much. I guess it's the price you pay for eating healthy, no? Fresh food and all that? Anyways, you all be good and play nice!

09-08-2006, 02:44 PM
I can't believe it's the afternoon already.....I was just getting ready to say "Good morning"! I've had such a hectic day at work....our docket clerk is gone, so in addition to my normal duties, I have to do all the court filings and deliveries too! Aghh! I'm the low man on the totem pole in case you haven't guessed.

Everyone has been posting like mad today and it's so exciting to read. It seems like we've all been re-bitten by the exercise bug. I was feeling bad last week and the beginning of this week because of my hip flexor, but it seems to have healed, so I'm back on the exercise wagon and my training continues. I have to do 18 miles on Sunday this weekend, so that's really going to be a challenge. I started walking at a slightly slower pace to keep my hips in good order. Hilarious. I'm like an old lady.

Aqua:  Way to got with the tape measure darling! I know the lack of movement on the scale is probably a little frustrating, but hang in there. The inches mean more than the pounds. And your clothing is a much better indicator of size than the scale. Scales are inherently inaccurate. At least that's what I choose to believe. Ha! No, they are. And, as your tape measure mocks you in Chinese, my scale mocks me in Swedish. It's so annoying. Sometimes when I'm trying to sleep at night, it starts singing. I think it's a big drinker. My scale parties way too much.

I've actually done the raw/veggie thing before and I loved it. I'm not a big meat eater anyway so it wasn't too difficult for me. The part that was really hard was staying on top of my groceries, so it got a little inconvenient with my busy schedule. I also found that it got a little expensive because I would eat things like avocado sandwiches for lunch. Quite a treat, I must say. If you are going to do it and are looking for a source of protein, I recommend salmon (if you're a seafood person of course). I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's grocery store or a Whole Foods around, but they both sell salmon patties. I know it sounds gross, but they're actually quite nice. I break them up in salads. They're a great source of protein and an excellent source of healthy fat. Otherwise, raw almonds or cashews.....both great sources of protein and healthy fat.....careful not to OD on these bad boys though. If you have any questions about raw eating, let me know! I have a great book on it that I can consult for you!

U2Girl: Good to see you back in action! :D

Brittni: Good to see you too! You will definitely burn some calories by cleaning! I wish I could be as motivated to clean as you! Whenever I get home, I just want to veg out and read or watch a movie. You'll definitely find time to work out as you get used to your class schedule. Amanda's right though, you have to make time for it. It will become part of your daily schedule and will be just as mandatory as getting out of bed. It's a great change though and you will feel wonderful!

TriciaK: Good to see you three! I think teaching is so cool and if I had to do it all over again, I think that's the path I would choose. In fact, I've contemplated going back to school so many times for teaching. Agghhhh. You'll find time in your schedule for exercise too. It's just a matter of getting back into the swing of things.

Trish: I am a MAJOR FB fan as well! I love it soooooo much! I love college, I love pro. I also love college basketball. Who's your team? I personally am a HUGE Bears fan. DITKA! He's my hero. He's completely insane. Did you watch the Steelers/Dolphins game last night? Man, Culpepper has lost some steam......

Melissa: Glad to see you in good spirits! How was the ice cream social last night? I LOVE ice cream. I think I would've eaten my way through the social if I were you!

Bonnie: Way to go on that walk this morning! I love walking. It totally clears my brain and allows me to process all the things that are stressing me out.

Kenya: So glad you're here! I know you'll be a big inspiration to everyone in this group. I can't believe you've lost almost 100 pounds. That is such an amazing accomplishment. I feel like you'll have some great advice on how to stay motivated and how to make it through plateaus....the whole nine yards!

Danielle: Way to go on those pounds and inches! You are awesome! :encore: That's such a funny story about your daughter this morning. I remember HATING school picture day. My hair always looked funny, I always looked pale or sick, and my mom made me wear funny clothes. Though, those are some of the cutest pictures I have in my scrapbook!

Amanda: I'm so glad you liked the analogies. My dad's a pretty gruff guy, so it's hilarious when he tries to be insightful. Bless his heart. And I'm so glad you're in good spirits today! Hooray! Oooo and I know what you mean about the salad dressing.....salsa is an awesome substitute! I also use straight balsalmic vinegar on occassion. It's amazing how those stupid dressing calories can sneak up on you! I'm doing the carrot dance for you right now! :carrot:

Alright chicks, I'm going to go grab some lunch!

09-08-2006, 03:35 PM
Since it's football season, and some of you have mentioned football, here's a funny story...

One of Detroit's football coaches was arrested for driving drunk. AND STARK NAKED!! The guy just started and he's been arrested twice in the past week. He was fired from another team because of his drinking and Detroit hired him. Hmmm.... Thats our Lions! Go team!! :carrot: :cb:

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I've always wondered if Detroit is crappy on purpose. Even when we seem to have all the right elements, we still seem to lose. How does the team reward losing coaches and general managers? By extending their contracts and giving them millions of dollars!

The drama is better than the football.

09-08-2006, 04:09 PM
Amanda, your team & my team should get together! The Cardinals just got a big ole ginormous stadium built for themselves...and for what???? Nobody wants to play here, not even the newly drafted QB Matt Leinart. Well, I think after they dangled enough $$$$ in front of him he finally gave in, but sheesh! One of my all time fave players is here tho-Edgerin James- so I guess I'll watch some if I have to...I liked it better when he was on the Colts tho. Oh well, what's a girl to do, right? Football is huge in our house, this is the only time of year that dh actually takes those Sundays off! That is pretty funny tho about the Detroit coach, I wonder what is wrong with his mind, cause he sho' has lost it!!! :D

Liz, it's great to see ya toots! Yeah, I always hated school pictures too when I was a kid. I've never really "made" my kids wear anything specific, I am there to just "guide" them, as they say! LOL My 13y/o son is worse than the girls, always has! He loves the mirror! LOLOLOLOL He's gorgeous tho, so if I were him, I'd like looking at myself too! HA! I hope work isn't too hectic for you, it's Friday for goodness sake, time to let yer hair down! ;) I'm so glad that your hip is feeling better, cause Lordy you've got one heckuva walk ahead of you!! And hey, make sure you keep sharing your dad's pearls of wisdom because we sure are enjoying it. :)

Aqua, yes we have Chevy's restuarants. YUM. We don't go too too often tho because for some reason I cannot contain myself and end up making a piggy of myself. :ink: We have another awesome one just across the street from us, Abuelos. Now that's what I'm talkin about, they have themselves some awesome margaritas!!!! :p

Trish, 9 pounds is fabulous! :flow2:

Ok. Lookin' for a little bit more exercise? You can do what I did today at the grocery store. First off it took me forever, I couldn't seem to find anything on my list--for starters I was having a mild anxiety attack(long story--related to food & grocery stores)--and then it was hecka crowded. So I spent awhile going round & round the aisles..I think the employees thought I was there to just play or something. After about the 3rd pass on some of them, they started lookin at me funny. :p I check out and hike out to my car. Mind you, I always park the farthest that I can, its an old habit from years ago. One that I am actually proud to still own. lol. But anyways, so I get out there and start hunting in my purse for my keys....hhmmmm, no keys.....I look thru some of the bags on top, nope no keys...dummy me, figures I was being a ditz and left 'em on the little counter I trudge all the way back with my cart--which is quite heavy with my bags and trays of water-- I get to the doors and I realize :fr: that the keys are in my right hand!!!!!! Can you even freakin believe it??? I was so embarrassed at myself that I practically jogged back to the car. LOL So that's my extra bit of walking today....ya'll can join me if ya want! ;)

09-08-2006, 04:13 PM
LOL amanda my dh was just telling me about this last night I think it was. Driving nekked...Ha!! We are HUGE HUGE HUGE football fans here!! Go Broncos!!! I just love this time of year. I dont however love the snack spread we tend to have...wings, nachos, pizza bites and beer. Big nonoS!

I was just skimming posts before I gotta run and pick up balloon boquets so dont think I'm forgetting anyone!

Danielle...I'm kinda hoping that the doctor will tell me that if I just lose some weight the pain will go away...because beleive me you! Things will get radical around here if thats the case! That will be the easy way out, everything I've been reading looks like possible surgury...which again I'd have to lose weight before I even thought about it.

I had a thought today as I was walking to class. I was trying to think of the healthy choices that I make everyday even if I'm not exercising or eating like I should be. For instance, I always take the stairs in buildings at school. Not because I want the extra exercise but because I dont want people saying...oh look at the fat girl, no wonder shes fat she rides the elevator! See this is not a good way to think about myself. Yes it makes me take the stairs, but its negative talk and that will bring me down down down! to the party store!! I'll be back later, Danielle has a carrot dance on the books!! LOL!!

09-08-2006, 04:14 PM
Danielle...sharing a brain again I see! LOL!!

09-08-2006, 04:15 PM
Oh Amanda! I totally forgot about that....that's right! I read about that in the paper!

I mean seriously.....who drives naked?!

Here's how the scene plays out in my head:

Police Officer: played by Kenny Rogers
Naked Driver: former Saved By the Bell star Mario Lopez

(Officer approaches car, taps on window with nightstick)
Naked Driver: "Good evening Officer, what seems to be the problem?"
(Officer stares blankly at Naked Driver)
Naked Driver: "Sir, I don't believe I exceeded the speed limit.....and I believe I had my turning indicator on when I made that left turn out of Arby's. Would you like a bite of my cheesy beef sandwich? A curly fry perhaps?"
Officer: "Sir, do you realize you're not wearing any clothes?!"
Naked Driver: "Sir, do you realize that you are the legendary Kenny Rogers?!"

End Scene

Wooo! It's Friday! I think I'm going to celebrate by riding the trian home nude tonight! :carrot:

09-08-2006, 04:20 PM
LIZ......

09-08-2006, 04:21 PM
Amany- Yeah, I don't wanna flash anyone! :o Man, that could have been embarassing. I had a really long shirt on, but I tested what happened in the mirror. If I had been wearing a hip length shirt, my underwear would have been showing. lol... oh well. Now I know. :D

Yeah, it does feel good though. I keep trying to stay focused and stay fresh. I do the craziest things for motivation. Pictures, skinny clothes, thinking of people I want to see me... specifically people that think they are better than us chubby gals. ;)

Sugar-N-Spice- Highschool... girls... oh, wow. I don't know.... such a tough thing to be a teen in this day and age. All you can do is hope for things to go smooth without too much painful drama. I love teenage kids though. I used to own an arcade. I loved talking to the teens that came in. A lot of times they just needed some guidance to get through the hormonal craziness, and whatever happens in highschool. Half the time the kids came in just to chit chat with me.

You all are a bunch of gassy Gertrudes!!! I'm not gonna call your bluff. I will invest in either some "beano" or "gas X" right away. I'm not all that into the sound of bagpipes if you know what I mean. ;)

My husband speaks some Chinese, but he says he can't hear anything from the tape measure. Maybe it is not speaking in the dialect he learned... ;)

iwantnewpants- The day is moving fast for me too! Yep, I am feeling optimistic about my new routine now that I have talked to everyone today. I think we are all getting our second wind.

You have a Swedish scale?!?! Wow!!! Hmm.... perhaps it's a conspiracy against us American gals needing to lose a few pounds... where did I put my tin foil hat...I'm feeling vunerable now... lol :D

So, you've been veggie before! Cool! I have been doing it today. :) No problem so far. I made a pico de gallo, but I forgot the cilantro. That's okay though. I did dice up and Avacado and I added that to the pico. Had an apple, some greens, and a little bit of carrot, broccolli, cauliflower mix. All raw. Oh, and a jalepeno pepper. I will have the same thing for supper, along with a yoplait fat free yogurt. I have some sunflower seeds, but I need to go look for some raw organic almonds or something of the like. Hubby warned me too, about portioning the nuts because the calories are sneaky. Essential, yet possibly deceptive. That seems to be the trickiest part of the raw diet, not going overboard with the nuts, which have a lot of calories. I appreciate you offer to help me, and I might be calling on you at some point. This is something pretty different for me, so I hope I can do it.

Melissa, you can have the brain for now...I'm out to lunch! lol

Hun.e.B- Hi! :)

09-08-2006, 05:10 PM
Aqua, your conspiracy theory might be true. Now all you need is Mel Gibson and his foil room to come help you out! (ever see Conspiracy Theory?) Are you wearing your foil hat? I just finished making mine. :D Figured I was better off safe than sorry so I made one real quick. lol

Liz, if you're gonna be dancin nekkid on the train home tonight, make sure you at least do the carrot dance while you're at it! :carrot: :carrot: That may make for some interesting headlines to say the least!

09-08-2006, 06:01 PM
I've never seen that movie, but had I known Mel had a tin foil room I wouldn't have gone ahead and bought 100 rolls of foil to wall paper my house.

09-08-2006, 06:41 PM

Aqua, maybe you can make hats for the neighborhood with your 100 rolls foil? :lol3: Maybe there's other ladies there that have foreign weightloss tools that are being cruel?

BTW, I'm still wearing my hat.....I did get a few funny looks while I was waiting to pick up the kids. Do you think this will ward off bad neighbors?????? Today's Friday....yanno what that means!!! Paaaa-aaa-rrr-teee'! Ugh... :tired:

P.S. Sell your hats for $5 a piece, get some new "pants" money!!! Sounds like you could use some new ones, eh? ;)

09-08-2006, 07:45 PM
Okay, ya'all turned into a bunch of lunatics this afternoon! LOL!! I guess we are taking up that laughter burning calories right!

Liz...O....M....G~! That is the funniest thing I've heard all day long! You need to be a writer! LOL!

09-08-2006, 07:47 PM
AquaChick, Liz and Danielle - You ladies are cracking me up! Whatever the three of you have, you should pass it to the rest of us. Don't be stingy!! Share with us. We're your friends. ;)

09-08-2006, 07:51 PM

It must be all the extra sun & heat I got today while I paraded thru the parking lot 3x this morning! :p

09-08-2006, 08:04 PM
miafluker- Hi! I know you can do it 3 times a week!!! :carrot: It's good!!!

Sugar-N-Spice- You do realize we have frightened, yet intrigued, our friends...

Hun.e.B- I think it's been so long since I had a greasy plate of anything that there is actual oxygen getting to my brain... it is making me giddy. Right now I'm listening to Madonna's "Hung Up" and the hook is from ABBA's "Gimme Gimme Gimme"... I'm about to bust a disco move.... :carrot: That's normal though... :D

Amany- I don't know for sure what has happened to us. Our measurement tools are talking to us in foreign languages, conspiracy theories abound... :p

09-08-2006, 08:13 PM

I was just listening to this song! I love this album, it makes me feel like dancin!! Except, we only dance when the blinds are closed and it's dark outside! LOL joking! But yeah, love Madonna! ABBA too for that matter! :dizzy: Everyone want's to be a dancin' queen, don't they???

Hhhmmm, I wonder if we've frightened everyone off? It's been quiet in here except us talking about naked train rides, foil hats and conspiratorial appliances. :chin:

:nono: :nono: :nono:
You guys...

Has anyone ever heard of Callentics? There were a bunch of books and videos. The exercises are supposed to tone and increase your flexibility.
I ordered the first book and the Super Callanetics video. From what I understand, it will be a while before I'm ready for the video.

09-08-2006, 08:28 PM
im here madanna huh i havent really listened to her new stuff but i love the stuff from the 80's my hubby looks at me like im crazy when i listen to it im like hey i grew up in the 80's and im 1/2 puerto rican so i like all types of music now you guys have me singing like a prayer,
i close my eyes hmhmhmhm(forgot thos words lol) i hear your voice i hear your voice

on a serious note i was watching a and e channel and they had a movie called flight 93 about 9-11 i almost cried

09-08-2006, 08:39 PM
Amanda, I have calanetics videos. I have Beginning Calanetics, Quick Calanetics for Abs, Hips & Behind, Legs. 4 vidoes and the only one I've opened is the beginner's one and that was eons ago. It is alot harder than it appears and it's also VERY dated. The people are totaly 80's leotards and hair! :D

09-08-2006, 08:50 PM
Amany- I've never heard of it. What is it? Stretches or something?

miafluker- I can't watch those movies. :( It was such a freakish day we lived to see. I'm not ready to see any part of it again.

Sugar-N-Spice- I had a Jane Fonda tape when I was in high school... it was soooo much hairspray and flourescent

09-08-2006, 11:55 PM
You are the dancing queen, young and sweet only I love me some disco! LOL!

Mia...ever so often I'll catch a show on the history channel or discovery about 9/11 and i cry every time. On 9/11 this year they are planning on rebroadcasting all the footage from that day. While I like to see the stories behind people, I'm not sure I'm ready to relive that either.

Speaking of Madonna I was watching something about her the other day and she said that how she got her rock hard body is a diet of low fat and high fiber. Shes vegan too I believe. Oh and she works out 4 hours a day! LOL!

There is a good side to having this cold. the cold medications makes me not feel like eating! I've had my 3 meals today but I've really eaten ALOT less than I normally would. And the cotton mouth...guzzling the water! I'm craving icecream though, thank god we dont have any!!

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

09-09-2006, 12:05 AM
Good evening chicks!

Aqua - From what I gather Callanetics is intense stretching that's supposed to strengthen you, tone you and make you more flexible. I was able to find a used copy of the book and the the super callanetics video from amazon and so I ordered them both. I keep reading that the exercises are really hard, but get easier with time. I'm intrigued. I don't want to look like He-Man, but I would love to have really strong lean muscle. Like Wonder Woman! ;) Plus I really need to work on flexibility. I'll be giving birth in my mid to late thirties! :dizzy: Then once my little offspring start to become mobile, I'll need to be able to chase them around.

Danielle - That's what I keep reading. That Callanetics is harder than it looks and that the videos are dated. How long did you try it? I'm going to start with the book and try it out for a month. Then I'll report back. :) Care to try it with me in a few weeks? In 3 weeks? 4? 5? :^:

Mia - I prefer Madonna's old stuff too. I remember getting in trouble for singing "Like a Virgin" That wasn't as bad as the time my mother caught me singing along with Sex Shooter and Darling Nikki though. The funny thing was that, at the time, I had no idea what either song meant. :dunno: I knew what "Like a Virgin" meant, but I didn't understand why my mother made such a huge deal of it.

Liz... Are you out there? Hope you made it home ok. :o :?:

Melissa - These ladies had quite the afternoon, I tell ya. Everyone is in trouble when I feel like I'm the most serious person around. When that happens things are really, really bad.

09-09-2006, 12:46 AM
OKay i dont know what you ladies took today but OMG!!!!! lol well my day has been boring. I didnt really have the energy to clean today. dont really know why. I sat around, picked my room up some and watched tv. I saw that thing on madonna too. The chick was doing some of the pilates excersises on a machine thingy and OMG. I dont know how anyone does it but to be honest, if it makes you look like that i wouldnt rule it out!!!
I'm a big Britney Spears fan. Always have been since she was in the MMC. Anyways i just happened to find a site that had her diet and workout plans on it and things like the books she reads and all that. Anyways i printed out the diet and excersise stuff but have yet to read it (tell ya'll tomorrow) but i went thru the list of books. Most were about Kabbalah and being spiritual and accepting things in your past and understanding it and moving on. Yesterday i had a conversation with my grandpa about my father and i realized that i'm not over the stuff that happened when i was little. I dont know if its because he keeps screwing up and my grandparents and i are the ones that end up paying for it (literally) or what. So anyways i went and got some of the books. I'm a christian completely. I believe in God and being a good person and all of that, but i do have some problems with the bible. people say the bible is the truth and this and that, but being honest it was written a loooooong time ago in another language and one of their words had 1 or more meanings so really its best guess. I dont think Aliens are what created us or out to get us as some of u think (hehe). So yeah 4 spiritual books and 1 sex help book for a friend that was to shy to buy it herself (dont ask).

I'm going to do personals in the morning. i need to clean off my desk and plug in my new printer. night!!!

09-09-2006, 05:43 AM
Hey Britt - I hope you had a great evening.

09-09-2006, 09:47 AM
Good Morning Ladies!!!

Hun.e.B- I love disco too! I am listening to "ABBA Gold" right this minute! :D I'm a huge Bowie fan too.
I LOVE Madonna's body, she's so beautiful!!! What I especially like are the back of her thighs. It is very difficult to make the back of your thighs muscular, but she has achieved it, and she's in her late 40's. Such an inspiration.
I made it through a raw vegan diet yesterday, and I'm going to do it again today. So far it hasn't been so bad. I love hot peppers and garlic so I just added that and lime juice to my raw veggies and it was fine. Maybe I'll actually be fine with it, time will tell. It would be nice to be able to eat like that most of the time and just really enjoy the days when I choose to eat something else- and not feel the guilt that goes with it. The most difficult time frame for me is after 6 PM. It is a long standing bad habit to snack at this time on horrible things. I haven't been doing it, so that's good.
I hope you get to feeling better.

Amany- Energy is definately something you want with little ones! So, that is a smart move.
lol... Funny when we are kids we don't even realize what the heck we were singing half the time. I used to love George Michael's "I want you sex"... I didn't care about the words!!! But when you are 10 or 11 singing something like that is enough to get you smacked and dragged to church lol....

brat_61886- Hi!

09-09-2006, 12:51 PM
Jest wanted to let all know that I got my new comp so I may not be on for a few days. Trying to get it set up so I can call monday and have high speed put on it. Catch you all later.

09-09-2006, 01:01 PM
Good Saturday Morning!! just a reminder for whoever pops in first tomorrow morning to start a new week's thread!

Britt...religion for me is something that I'm not sure if I believe one way or the other. I think thats kinda the point. I certainly dont like it being pounded down my throat thats for sure. But i do know in all the health and wellness classes that I've taken they talk about spiritual health as part of the balance wheel, so its important to have that in your life in whatever capacity you are comfortable with. Enjoy your reading. If nothing else its GREAT to be educated, knowledge is power!

Amanda....What on earth are you doing up so late!? LOL!!

Aqua...when the boogie started to explode I heard somebody say burn baby burn..disco inferno! LOL!! I'm not a bowie fan but I do love me some disco! My trouble time of the day is between 2-5, once dinner is over I'm okay the rest of the night thankfully. Thats also the time of day that I get really tired too. I love peppers too, yellow ones anyway, and I planted some this year to grow on the balcony, 3 popped up but they havent grown very big at all and are already turning baby yellow peppers I guess LOL!

No plans here for me today other than working on my homework. We'll see how far I get on it! I've found some new ambition and determination yesterday with Danielles help so we'll see how eating goes today!! Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!!

09-09-2006, 01:25 PM
Good Morning Sunshine's!!!

Yes, we had quite a day yesterday didn't we? *nudges Aqua* Not exactly sure what happened but somehow I feel hungover this morning! :D Did somebody put something in my drink????? lol It was fun to just let loose a little bit, no matter how zany or nutso it was. Aqua we'll have to do it again, VERY soon. Hhhhmmmmm, :chin: I don't see Liz here. I wonder if she got arrested for dancing nekkid on the train last night??? Or maybe she ran into Kenny Rogers or Mario Lopez?

Amanda, the calanetics is supposed to work wonders especially for people who cannot do high impact stuff. I just remember breaking into a huge sweat in the middle of this thing, it's pretty intense. All the movements are very very tiny and that's about it. It's not like it takes a huge amount of skill, it's just being able to keep those movements steady. I've talked to a couple ladies who swear by it, who are also big pilates people. So I'm sure with all that, you will see great results for sure!!

Melissa, I hope you're feeling better today. At least yesterday the meds helped keep your food in check, I guess we can count that as a plus, eh? And drinking your water is a very good thing!!! Seriously tho, I hope today finds you feeling rested and ready to tackle the weekend. :)

Hi Brit, hope you have a great weekend!

Well I am feeling oogie again this morning. This dang cough just doesnt seem to wanna let go. I swear I was up half the night hacking, and then I'd lay down and my nose would run. Up n down all night long! :tired:

I was watching this thing last night on MSNBC about a man who was going in for a gastric bypass surgery. He was about 400+ lbs and claimed to have tried every diet on the planet. The way they had this pieced together made it completely look like he went in for a psych evaluation just right before surgery(surgery was supposedly the following day) to see if he was "viable" for the procedure. This really bothered me! The psychiatrist was interviewed saying how it's important to make sure the patient is able to distinguish that the surgery isn't going to fix their "problem", that they themselves have to be able to conquer whatever has driven them to use food as a crutch. If they felt like patients were not of this mindframe and couldn't prove somehow that they could work it properly, they would be denied treatment. I was not impressed at all with the guy's answers, to me it wasnt reason enough to allow him to do it. He just kept saying that "this is my last chance at a new life. I want to be able to enjoy my son", etc. Hello? Does this tell you that he is capable of living this way for the rest of his life? And if he did give more reasonable answers then they certainly weren't aired. I really feel stuff like this gives overweight people the idea that having this surgery will be the answer to their prayers without having to do any work either mentally or physically...totally sending the wrong message. Anyways, that's my rant. :tantrum: I am sure that he lost lots of weight (I missed the end-dh was bugging) and thought for sure he would maintain this.. I hope he has, I hope even more that his urge to use food as a way of coping magically disappeared along with half his stomach!

Okay, as you can see, I'm a cranky girl this morning so I'm gonna venture back to bed I think. Try and hide under the covers for a little while longer before I gotta run around with my troops. I swear, I'm not even allowed to be sick! Bah!!

09-09-2006, 02:23 PM
Butterfly50- Take care, hope to see you soon!

Hun.e.B- Thanks for the reminder. :) I hope you have a wonderful day!

Sugar-N-Spice- Hello! It is fun to let loose sometimes. I know, for me, this struggle to lose weight and trying to learn to live a healthier lifestyle brings me down at times. Sometimes I have moments when I ask myself if I'm really doing it, is it really ever going to happen. But, then I come here, and I see success stories. I see us having fun and lightening the mood, I think we all need it sometimes--- because we are very serious about the weight loss.

Sorry to hear you are still "feeling oogie". :( My throat has been sore since I woke up this morning, but I'm trying to ignore it. I hope it doesn't "develop".

I don't aim to offend anyone, because I know a lot of people have considered, are considering, or have had weight loss surgery and been quite successful with it, but something never feels right about it to me.

I have had so many times that my sister would eat McDonald's in front of me, then when she was done say she would get gastric bypass because she will never be able to stop. I even asked her why doesn't she try first before just saying she will never make it. She stays gung ho for two days tops, then runs for the burger. I know she is addicted. I feel her pain- I have been battling those very demons- but sometimes I think people don't want to do the hard work and they would rather have their intestines- the all natural, way we were made to work intestines- re-routed by another human just so they cannot fit as much into their tummy. That is sooooo extreme, but I guess they know that ahead of time.

My husband is all for that surgery in folks that are morbidly obese, he said if he was in their shoes he would do it and not look back. I can't say I'm 100% against it, or that I wouldn't be happy for someone that had it done and feels better, but it is so unnatural. I wonder what the consequences will be in 20 years. Hopefully not anything.

09-09-2006, 03:43 PM
Hello Lovelies!!!

It just dawned on me that I was supposed to post a new picture yesterday. Meanwhile I'm sitting here with my hair all over the place. I knew I'd be washing it this morning, so I didn't wrap it last night. Plus I just did Leslie Sansone's 3 Mile WATP, so it's all sweated out. Now, I'm thinking, "It ain't picture time.". Promise to do it tomorrow though. ;)

My husband took me out last night! :D We went ot one of the restaurants in Mexican Town. Southwest Detroit. I am happy to report that I was good!! I had a taco salad. No taco chips. No fried bowl. I had chicken instead of ground beef and I didn't use any salad dressing. I did have 2 of the fried tortilla chips though. It was my only indulgence. My husband is going through a Mexican food phase, I think. Believe it or not, he actually wants to go again today. My resolve is being tested. :( If I told him I wanted to eat something else instead, he'd go along with it. I guess I just like feeling that I'm in control of my eating.

Here's what's funny. The salad I had wasn't even on the menu. When I asked if there was salad, the waitress kind of did a double take. She was like, "Yeah. We have salad.". Oh I didn't mention that I had a little plastic souffle cup with my own low fat sour cream. My husband was so embarrassed! :lol3:

I'm not in favor of gp surgery either. If you have the surgery you're still expected to exercise and watch what you eat. If you haven't worked out your overeating issues, you run the risk of stretching out the now smaller stomach and causing damage. Not yo mention the special nutrients you have to take for the rest of your life!! So my feeling on it is that since you have to do the work anyway, why not just do it without surgery??? I don't think it's the quick fix people are looking for either. That said, I wouldn't judge someone for having it. They have their own life to live.

Aqua - My husband is in favor of the surgery too. But he's not a person who can relate to emotional eating like we can. Sometimes he will go all day without eating just because he doesn't feel like it. Or sometimes he may not eat at all on a Thursday and not eat until dinner time the next Friday. He's perfectly fine with that. Damn man!
I hope your sister is able to get her eating issues under control soon. She'll be much happier with herself when she does. And healthier.

Danielle - You, Liz and Aqua certainly did have a time yesterday!! You silly ladies! You all are so much fun. I'm glad that all our time posting is not only about weight loss, inch loss or eating plans. It's good to just have fun sometimes.
I'm going to give the Callanetics and honest try. I read somewhere that Callan Pickney has scoliosis like I do. That sparked my interest. Plus I want to be really, really toned.
I hope you got a chance to lie back down.

Melissa - I posted not too long after waking up. I woke up this morning around 4 and decided to get up. My Cousin Vinny (my fave movie) came on at 5:30. I decided to watch it, but I feel asleep on it about 30 minutes into it. It was going off when I woke up. I dragged myself back to bed until about 9. Even when I go to bed late (like last night), I still wake up around 4. I guess it's because I get up between 4:30 - 4:45 on the week days.
Don't get me started with the disco music!! I think I should have been a teen during the 70s. I love the music and the clothes. I would have loved to have worn those funky wide collared, polyester shirts, bell bottoms and sported a fro. Heck, I usually sport an afro puff all summer long. "Dig it!"
My sister and four of my brothers are a lot older than me; so I was exposed to a lot of disco and funkadelic stuff. It's just the best, best music in my opinion. I think I'm going to pull out our SuperFly movie today.
I hope you're able to get lots of homework done today.

I'm so sorry you all are starting feel under the weather. I'm pretty sure it's the change of seasons. My sinuses are starting to get a little drainy. My husband has been a little under the weather too lately. Have you all ever heard of people taking castor oil when the seasons change to avoid getting sick? I'll have to read up on it. If I can stomach that awful stuff I just might try it. Or not...

09-09-2006, 04:08 PM

09-09-2006, 05:58 PM
Amany- Hi! I am a big fan of Mexican food as well, and that would be so hard.Funny, my husband asked me to run and get him some taco's a while ago...

I am WAYYYYY proud of you for bringing your own stuff and tqaking care of your business at the dinner table. You did good!!!!

I hope my sister gets control too. You know, and this is what it comes down to. We have to make different decisions. We have to choose one thing over another. Some people are gonna do it, some people never will. :(

miafluker- Hi! :) I'm not sure about the protein stuff. I would think the calories in it might cause you to gain... but I don't understand much about protein shakes.

__________________________________________________ _____________

I have another NSV to report! My husband told me my head now looks "skinnier". I was very happy to hear it, and he is not the kind of guy to just say something. He was very sincere. :)

My head is shrinking people!!!!!! :carrot:

Found this info on this website:

Weight Management
Studies show that achieving and maintaining a healthy weight can add years to your life and help prevent weight related complications, including diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. Diet plays a key role in any weight management program and adding whey protein often helps make a positive difference. Here are some of the reasons why.
The body requires more energy to digest protein than other foods (thermic effect) and as a result you burn more calories after a protein meal.
Whey protein isolate is pure protein with little to no fat or carbohydrates. It is a perfect complement to any low carbohydrate or low glycemic index diet plan.
Recent studies by Dr. Donald Layman, a professor at the University of Illinois, have highlighted the role of the essential amino acid leucine in improving body composition. High quality whey protein is rich in leucine to help preserve lean muscle tissue while promoting fat loss. Whey protein contains more leucine than milk protein, egg protein and soy protein.
Protein helps to stabilize blood glucose levels by slowing the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. This in turn reduces hunger by lowering insulin levels and making it easier for the body to burn fat.
Whey protein contains bioactive components that help stimulate the release of two appetite-suppressing hormones: cholecystokinin (CCK) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). In support of this, a new study found that whey protein had a greater impact on satiety than casein, the other protein in milk. Adding whey protein to a mid-day snack or beverage provides healthy energy and may help control food intake at the next meal.

Not sure what type of plan you're on but low carbers swear by this stuff. They put it in everything, from shakes, to coffee, to food. Hope the info helps.

09-09-2006, 07:08 PM
thank you so much Sugar-N-Spice im going to start adding this monday i have such a hard time getting in protein and fiber

09-09-2006, 07:26 PM
Mia - I remember Halle Berry saying that she used protein shakes to help her build lean muscle for Cat Woman. She said they gave her awful gas though. :o
Let us know how it goes.

It just dawned on me that my husband is going through fatty food withdrawal. I used to cook like a southern woman. He loved it. Now I don't, so he's craving cheesy, greasy, fried fat. Now he's talking about going to some place called the Pork House. wth?? :?:

Aqua, that stuff runs in families bad. For as long as I remember my sister, she's always had food issues. She's gone on 40 - 60 day fasts where she only had lemon-water with cayenne pepper and molasses added. She's popped Metabolife / Diet Fuel for a year at a time; each month or so having to increase the dosage to keep her metabolism high. The last couple of times I saw her, she was eating life she hadn't seen food in 10 years. I've seen her go up and down from a sz 8 to 24 over the past 25 years. Her muscle tone is really bad.
My mother says my sister is trying to lose weight now. I just know she's going to start doing strange things to herself again. One of my brothers told me that now that every is noticing that I'm losing weight, my sister feels competitive. So she has to top me. Even though I've always naturally had more muscle than her (making my metabolism a bit higher) and I'm 17 years younger. I never really understood that sibling rivalry stuff.
She's the mother of my oldest niece (who's now 26). She used to put her on diets when she was like 8 years old so she wouldn't be fat. My niece had issues with food for years until she had the good sense to start seeing a therapist. She used to pop diet pills too. She'd also go days without eating and get annoyed by other people eating. A couple of times I caught her forcing herself to throw up after eating.
I think she's gotten things under control now though. I think she's like a sz 10 or 12. Beautiful, beautiful girl. She's 5'10" and wears high heels ALL the time. I'm talking 4-inchers and her posture is great. I don't think she diets anymore, but she exercises regularly.
Congrats on your shrinking head by the way. :)

Mia, I'm glad you found the info helpful. Good luck with that & let us know how it goes!

So I'm just checkin in for the evening before I get dinner rolling. Today went entirely too fast! It has rained most of the day, and we're talkin by the bucketful. :rain: Luckily it stopped long enough to run my daughter to a party she was going to. Ugh, some of these kids out here and their richy parents! This girl was having it at the Marriott Hotel in this private suite thingy. They're swimming, eating, & watching movies all night. We had to hike a mile just to park and then walk into the lobby, they wouldn't even let me leave my car to the side to run her in. The nerve, huh? lol So I got a good little walk in, so not too bad. I hope she has fun! To be young again!!!

I totally agree with you guys about the GPS. I think it's something that should be weighed heavily*no pun intended*. The committment to this doesn't even compare to just trying to lose on your own IMO. With this you have life threatning possibilities just for the surgery, not to mention once you're trying to recover and live a normal life. I would sincerely hope that the policies are very very strict and that people really are truly evaluated properly. Like everything else in this world, I'm afraid for it to be just one more thing for the medical industry to make money on. The almighty dollar always rules, doesn't it? I know for me personally, having a procedure done wouldn't even begin to touch the surface of "the why". While I am thankful that I am not at a weight where I fear like I can't do it on my own(even tho it may take me a 100 years! lol), I understand those who are grossly overweight need options like this.

Okay girls, it's time to boogie! :dancer: :dancer: I got the music turned up, the rain is pounding outside...let's make some dinner!!! I'll check in on ya'll in a few....

Amany- That's too bad about your sister. Some people become addicted to "dieting" in and of itself. Very sad. I'm glad your niece got a handle on it though.
Pork house? Wow! Your gonna be okay. I know it is so hard when they want to go off the deep end. It makes it harder for you, but you know you have a support system over here, and you know how to arm yourself with the proper diet tools. Press onward. Nothing fried and fatty is going to be worth stifling all this work and progress you have accomplished.

Sugar-N-Spice- Wow! That is a pretty big birthday party!!! I went to a party like that when I was a kid though. The girl was a total sweetheart and so were her Mom and Dad, and it was nice for them that they were loaded financially.

I hope you have a good night! :)

Kenya :bravo: - Fantastic job chicky!! Congrats to you.

Aqua - I needed to read that. Thank you! Yes, I have worked too hard to ruin my progress, haven't I? We ended up not going to the Pork House. We did a little walking, my husband watched boxing and we cleaned up. We're going out today though. We're going to see Hollywoodland this afternoon.

Danielle - Yep. Kids celebrate birthdays differently these days. I don't think any of my nieces have ever played Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Two of my them love to have hotel parties. And they aren't even richy. But they've never had suites. Not yet... My ex SIL is talking about getting one for my niece on her 10th birthday.
I have a confession about surgery. I have this flabby, hang-over thingy at the lower part of my stomach. It sort of hangs there. Even when I was smaller it was there. Although, there was much less of it then! Anyway, if I can't get rid of it, I think of sometimes having it taken care of on my 45th or 50th birthday as a present to myself. Along with having boob work if they're down to my navel by then. I especially think about it lately because I haven't had children yet. God willing I'll have two of them, but it will happen relatively late for me. Who knows what condition childbirth will leave my boobs and stomach in?!
What I think will really end up happening is that I'll chicken out. I think about it though. But who knows? I'll be menapausal at by that time. I might be a little crazy and hormonal. :dizzy: Maybe I won't chicken out. :?:
