I hope it's ok for me to start this up. I didn't see one going yet. I posted on the August thread before it hit me that it's not August anymore.

Ran 2 miles in 25 minutes
Biked 3.2 miles
Attempted rollerblading 25 minutes

Happy September!

Hello, 34 min. of walk away pounds recording.
Great work out if your just starting a fitness routine.

My next goal is 16 pounds loss by my birthday end of October.

I like the idea of a monthly accountability; I ended up creating a group for it, since the concept appeals to me. Currently I have a fitness regimen of running, swimming, biking, and power-walking. School starts again on 9/23 and I have swim classes, running, and weight training. Last semester I was eating a lot of whole foods and superfoods, so I had the necessary energy and fuel to keep up the grueling schedule of work, workouts, and school. I plan to do the same thing this semester, and those that follow, so wish me luck!

For September, I'd like to lose 5-10 lbs and get my body conditioned to regular exercise again by the time school rolls around. In addition to the usual holiday festivities, I'm going to spend Christmas this year with my mom and baby brother; it'll be my first time seeing them (and them me) in 7 years!!! Definitely a motivator for exercise and wanting to look my best, don't ya think? :D

I'm enjoying reading everyone's progress and daily exercise rituals. I'll come back in a week and let you all know how I'm doing. Let's hope I can get September off to a good start!

09-03-2006, 12:53 PM
:wel3fc: Transformation.... The group you started is it through your school? That's an excellent motivator when you can get friends in "real" life to participate in working out...

I haven't done any workout yet today... I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, that's usually not a good sign :^:

Sept 3 - 1 hour hiking, plus 10 hours of the greatest tricep exercise I know...fishing.
Sept 4 - 2 hours taking down and packing camping equipment (did I mention the campsite was down a flight of stairs from where the car was parked? Try that carrying a 2 room tent...)
Sept 5 - 48 min mixed cardio (stairclimber and bike), 20 min shoulders/triceps.

09-05-2006, 07:59 PM

I'd like to join this thread!! It'll be a good way for me to track what I'm doing.

Sept 1 - 2-mile walk (Leslie Sansone video)
Sept 2 - 40 min walk outside (30 HI)
Sept 3 - nothing (unless you count dancing around at a John Mayer concert) ;)
Sept 4 - 37 min walk outside (30 HI); 20 min lower body toning (Kathy Smith video)
Sept 5 - 35 min treadmill (30 HI)

The HI stands for high-intensity. I'm increasing my high-intensity minutes gradually--the rest is warm-up or cool-down.

09-05-2006, 11:25 PM
Yesterday I didn't plan and I didn't get out to workout, oh well c'est la vie...

I have to say that that statement is not true, I'm all screwd up in my days :o ... The reason I know is that all of a sudden my legs are sooooo sore from these side lunges I did yesterday, that it made me remember that I had worked out... I think I'm losin' it

09-06-2006, 06:16 PM

Sept 3 - 3+ miles run @ 12 min /mile
Sept 4 - Lazy Labor day
Sept 5 - Ran 2.5 miles @ 12 min /mile
Sept 6 - Should have been WT, but never made it. Really need to work on this activity - mojo, determination, something!
Sept 7 - Plan to run 2.5 miles. Last run before my first 5K Saturday. I've walked 5k before, but never ran. Looking forward to it.

09-07-2006, 12:36 PM
Softballmom - sending you lots of weight training mojo and :dust:

Today - 45 min walk/jog with a minor NSV...I've been working me way up SLOWLY on the ration of walk to jog. I started at 5 minutes and it nearly killed me. Today, I jogged more than half the time I was out for a total of 23 min jogging, 22 min walking. Progress!

Does 4 hours of heavy duty construction count? We were building a deck...

I CAN feel it, big time, in my arms...and I was essentially doing squats each time I had to screw in a board...I'm totally counting it.

09-11-2006, 04:09 PM
Mandalinn I would say yes to heavy duty contruction counting as exercise. Speaking from experience I know when we worked on our home I burned a lot of calories.

Osh Kosk B'gosh I could write out all my exercise for September but I don't want to scare people! ;)

I just want to boast about today's mammoth task! I cycled 15 miles to work. Of course I have to cycle 15 miles back again tonight :D Oh and that's UK miles, not your short-measure US miles ;)

09-13-2006, 09:45 AM
Exercise has been so on plan this week! I did my first 5K RUN on Saturday with a time that beat my training days (33:55). Monday I did a full body WT routine and last night I ran 3 miles. Tonight is on plan for some more WT. Now that I am close to goal, it is even more important that I do the WT to add some muscle definition to my upper body. The running is helping my lower, but I still do lunges and sqats etc during my routine.

I do wish I had taken the advice of the Ladies Who Lift, and started out doing the WT sooner. I was too involved with my running, however, to get serious about it.

09-13-2006, 04:04 PM
Cardio, weights for arms and abs.

09-13-2006, 06:46 PM
52 minutes on the stairclimber. HR was at or above 160 all but 5 minutes, peaked at 185. I was working -VERY- vigorously.

But then the gym I am considering joining called and said I could use my day pass today (their sales guy is there to pitch me) so it looks like I'm getting two workouts today.

All the people I know say I work out too much. Finally a pplace where I can fit in.

I am 41 and have just begun on a new journey. i am a middle school teacher who, after 18 years of being on the front lines, is taking a year off. All I do is run, lift weights, relax, drink coffee, and socialize. I love my life again. Wish I never had to work ever again.

Exercise yesterday:

weights - shoulders and biceps.

Exercise today:
4 mile jog
different pilates (just a few - I'm hooked)

Talk to you later!

09-26-2006, 07:49 PM
ChrissyM, welcome to our little corner!

09-26-2006, 11:38 PM
:wel3fc: Chrissy  ... Can you actually exercise too much?? I guess you could but not us :D...

Yesterday: jog to and from gym, total 5k, worked legs at gym...I rarely run and do legs the same day, but I felt ambitious  and I am feeling it today too...

Toady: 5k run with my running group...

09-27-2006, 01:20 AM
45 min UB with trainer.

And according to said trainer, you CAN work out too much. He suggested that I step down my cardio a bit.

Step down my ***. I respectfully disagreed.

09-27-2006, 02:51 PM
:welcome3: Chrissy! I'm 41 also and have found exercise a blessing and a joy. Oh, why didn't I start sooner?? Wish I didn't have to work though.

Love your attitude Mandalinn!

Got my planned 3.5miles in. Thinking about ramping up my run days which means two out of my three w/t days will have a run tacked on. But I haven't been doing any cardio on those days, so it might be a good thing to do for mileage as well as body.

09-27-2006, 03:03 PM

09-28-2006, 01:52 AM
Well come on, you guys see my cardio here...I do 50 minutes, 6 times a week! Thats not obsessive! Thats less than the government recommendation.

I love the trainer anyway. Especially because he called me "hardcore".

50 min elliptical

09-28-2006, 09:45 AM
Got my w/t in last night with a quick run. I think my w/t is playing with my scale. I spike 1-2# after a w/t day. At least I knew this would probably happen, so I'm not bummed. But it is evil.

09-28-2006, 05:33 PM
Softballmom I find that when I w/t the next day I gain. But the scale returns to normal the following day.

Workout: Walked 3 miles, pilates, and cardio.

09-28-2006, 08:25 PM
Softballmom -- Your muscles do retain water, hence the gain, wait till the next day...

09-28-2006, 09:41 PM
45 min elliptical, 45 min UB lifting

09-29-2006, 01:00 AM
Can someone please kick me in the butt? I haven't worked out since Monday! I keep finding excuses not to work out...and I've been snacking like a crazy lady.

09-29-2006, 10:07 AM
Nikaia: here you go... :kickbutt: Now make it in your schedule today, and watch those snacky feelings - drink some water, maybe?

Okay, now I'm getting frustrated! I gained another 1/2 pound, and I have w/t again tonight!!! I know that I need the w/t for its benefits (ie bone strength and toning), but I have worked so hard at getting here and I still have about (now) nine pounds to go!!! In my whole journey so far I have never been this frustrated, I just hang for a few days or even weeks, then my weight starts going back down. But this month I have gone between 121-125 because of temporary steroids due to poison ivy and now, I believe, w/t.
Because I'm so close, I just want the wt to be removed like the past, but it doesn't look like it's going to work that way.

Thanks for letting me vent..... And I don't want to move my ticker yet.

09-29-2006, 05:15 PM
Well, I worked out today - thanks for the butt-kicking, softballmom and Mandalinn! - and am feeling good about it. I also am thinking I need to structure my goals differently. I have a long-term weight goal, but I haven't got any exercise goals or anything. So I'll have to think on that...

Cardio, toning and weights for arms.

09-30-2006, 01:10 AM

09-30-2006, 12:02 PM
This is the third time I typed this. I have no idea why my post won't go on.

Nakaia...kick. you can do it, girl.

softball mom..your success at this point is amazing. I think your body may need some time to adjust to the new numbers. Sometimes when our weight is that low, it takes a long time to go lower. I think you are perfect.

alwaysbelieve...95? awesome!!

mandolinn...I think your cardio is inspiring, not obsessive. You rock.

yesterday I got the brainiac idea that I should do a detox. I thought i was going to die from the pain. Cramps!! And I am 3 pouunds heavier today. What the?? Anyway, I ran and biked for exercise. Too pooped to post yesterday.

plan for today:
legs, abs, triceps
biking at night.
