Hi Ladies - I am just now starting to to take the first steps toward training for my first sprint Triathlon. I can already run 5 miles but my biking and swimming skills need some help. I'm joining a Tri-training class through my gym and plan to supplement it with some additional private swimming lessons to improve my stroke and breath. I can certainly swim several laps in an Olympic sized pool, but if I'm going to be swimming in open water I figure some brushing up can't hurt.

Question - has anybody followed this training schedule? If not, what training schedule did you follow?

Question - what "outfit" did you wear? I'm looking at buy this one from Danskin. Will this carry me through all three events? If not, what should I wear?

I have no idea about the training for a triathlon or if that schedule is good or bad... I just wanted to mention that that outfit looks super awesome and I'd consider buying it, when I do my triathlon, hopefully next summer...

The schedule actually looks a little light on biking. A tri is about half cycling by time, and usually gets a lot of emphasis. But it looks ok, especially coming from a running perspective.

I'm pretty partial to Zoot tri clothing myself, functional, attractive. Good details like flat stitched seams (chafing is a big issue when you are wet), nice fabrics, helpful pockets. I think by far the best place to get tri gear, at least on-line where trying things on isn't possible, is trisports.com. The owners are friends of mine, and so I'm a little biased, but they do a great job of steering you to the right stuff for your race, goals, budget and body type.

Two good resources for starting triathlon are

Trinewbies http://www.trinewbies.com/
and Beginner Triathlete http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/

Both have lots of good advice and training plans.
