Support Groups - Scrapbooks, Journals, & Weight Loss

08-31-2006, 05:47 PM
I had a terrific idea. I am trying to make a scrapbook of my weight loss journey, along with journaling. I know I want to include all those special ladies that have been so supportive and are part of my journey. I think it would be great to exchange scrapbook pages so we can put faces and their personalities to our journal/scrapbook page. For those interested, you would make up the number of pages that you'd like to exchange all about yourself. You then send your page all about yourself to your special buddy or group member. I would love to see those that helped me in my book. You ladies are all part of the story. If we could do it alone, we wouldn't be here.
We can exchange addresses via PM's so that you can control who gets your pages. Does this appeal to anyone? If so, please reply or PM me. I want you all to be part of my victory!:carrot:

08-31-2006, 08:30 PM
Yes, Norma, I really like that idea! :cp: Let me get this straight.... I should make x number of copies of a page that tells about me, in general? Or about my weight loss (gain!) Or just whatever I think describes "Jane"? Can I include a photo of Molly? (my dog)

I do already have a notebook where I keep all of your bios, notes, addresses, etc. Having a scrapbook page that you each made about yourselves would be so cool!

Where's my glue.... I'm ready to start, lol. Btw, my scrapbook papers are the regular 8 1/2 x 11 size. Is that ok? The only thing better than this is, I wish we could all sit down together to make these pages.

08-31-2006, 09:21 PM
Jane: You make the number of copies that you want to send out to fellow 3fc ladies. Put as much that tells about you that you can. A picture of you, family, dog, fish, garden, crafts, your favority hat, anything that tells us about you. You make it however you'd like. If you want your weight challenges or successes, go for it. I want to know more about "Jane" the person. It has been suggested to me that 8 x 8 would be good because it's not too over-whelming and you can use 8 x 10 paper to make it. That way fellow scrapbookers can make a book that will go into a traditional holder.
I sure wish we could get together also. Hopefully, this will be the next best thing. We'll be able to "see" our buddies as we message each other.

09-01-2006, 12:48 AM
Oooohhh!!! I like this idea too! :hyper:

I've done all sizes of scrapbooking and 12x12 is my current...but I can do any size you gals want.

Let's see who all wants to do this and then we can exchange our addresses.

Great idea Norma!

09-01-2006, 07:28 AM
I'm in for the 8 x 8 scrapbook page. Now I just have to take a picture of myself. BOOO...ok, if I have to I will do JK - just kidding. I will get my daughter to take it. I will give my address to whomever PM's me for it, except Norma, that's already a done deal. :D

If excitement could be turned into wieght loss I'd be a skeleton right now!! AHAHAHAH

09-01-2006, 10:10 AM
Marti - I'm glad to see you in on this!
Tiffany - I PMed you my info.
Norma - glad we already exchanged our info, right?

Before we decide on a size, let's see if others join us, ok? I'm already getting some ideas for this project.... bet you are, too!

09-02-2006, 01:21 AM
Jane, I agree that we should see if we have any more ladies who would like to share pages with. I too have been going over ideas that would show the "real me". We also want to keep in mind the mailing of this pages. Too big or over sized will have extra mailing costs. Not everyone does scrapbooking but does journaling will be probably using an 8 x 10 format or smaller. I like you like scrapbooking. If you have alot to show about you we can mail double pages (pages that are on the left and right sides facing in a book). For you non scrapbookers. Jane, I think I have your address. I'll double check.

Marti: I will PM you my address:

Tiffany: You have it already.

09-02-2006, 11:42 AM
oops I forgot to mention this.
Here is a fantastic web site for anyone who wants to see some great info on making scrap pages, greeting cards and all that. I just love it here. the first link will be to the site home, the second one is to my personal gallery. I hope you like it!

09-02-2006, 07:45 PM
Norma...I think this is a GREAT idea! And yes, count me in! Jane and Marti already have my address but I will get it to you Tiffany and Norma and of course anyone else who joins in on this. I LOVE scrapbooking!

09-03-2006, 04:24 PM
Cristi - so glad you're going to join us on this.
Tiffany, holy cow! Your pages are great! You could give lessons. Thank you for sharing.
Norma - we did already share addresses, (didn't we?? teehee) but if you need me to send it again, just let me know.

As for mailing, there are padded manilla envelopes available for mailing things like this. We could put our pages between 2 pieces of cardboard. Or, to prevent them being crushed, we could roll them loosely and mail them in a tube. Just a couple of ideas.

C'mon Jaded Ladies! Who else wants to do this with us?

09-05-2006, 01:32 AM
Okay guys. What size pages are we going to do? I know it was my idea but I want to have a group concenus. I'm okay with doing different size pages for different individuals, if that is what everyone wants.

Jane: I think you and Tiffany are the scrapbook specialists. Do you guys have input?

Cristina & Marti: What size books will you be putting these pages in?

You all have got to stop being bashful, or we'll never get these pages started.

I can make any or all page sizes. Talk to me!

09-05-2006, 03:40 PM
Norma....I will most likely be doing the 12 x 12 pages. I have a sort of scrapbook started but think I am going to get a new one and start over. But any size pages will work for me.

Jane...great ideas...I thought about the cardboard because when I buy paper at the scrapbook store that is what they do...put two pieces of cardboard so it won't get al funky before I get it home.

Just need to get a page together now to send. Not sure what I want to do yet so it may be a few weeks before I get something sent ladies.

09-06-2006, 12:40 AM
The size of the page doesn't matter for me. I will be putting this together as it's own book.

So...have we come to a consensus yet?

09-06-2006, 12:59 AM
Marti: I will be making 12 x 12 pages. Cristi will be doing this size also. Tiffany & Jane are our scrapbooking guru's so they will probably do the same.

For all who didn't specify a size. I will think that you want the 12 x 12 size unless you post otherwise. OKAY?

Norma "the can't wait to start my pages" fatchick

09-06-2006, 11:11 AM
Norma - -----> this is me laughing :lol3: for you calling me an expert along with Tiffany. You have no way of knowing this, so I have to tell you, MARTI is the scrapbook queen here. Her pages are gorgeous, and she's done lots of them, too. She has even taught her DD Jhanai to do them, and Jhanai is following in her footsteps. Tiffany's pages are also top-notch and look very professional, so I have to warn you ladies, I am not very creative, so bear with me. :^:

Well, I think it's a good idea for everyone to do the size pages they want to do. I'll buy a 12 x 12 book and will place the smaller pages that are sent to me in the front, with the larger ones in back. That would work, wouldn't it? Hmmm.... I guess I'll just go ahead and use the 8 1/2 x 11 pages I already have on hand.

I'm not quite ready to begin, yet, but will be thinking of what all I want to include. First, I have to find photos that I want to use, then make copies of them.

I wish more of the JLs would join us for this, don't you?

09-07-2006, 09:50 AM
Norma - I hope you know I wasn't laughing AT you! I just think it's humorous that anyone could confuse me with a talented person. I'm totally "creatively challenged", lol.

09-07-2006, 05:50 PM
So what kind of pages is everyone doing? Weightloss related, family or just a you page? I've got some ideas on what I want to do, just need to get it together. And I'm not sure yet what I will be doing. Trying to do a weightloss related page but not sure at this point...may just be a me page. I went to the scrapbook store today to get some stuff now I just need to get it down on paper.

Happy Scrapbooking Ladies!

09-08-2006, 12:20 AM
Cristina: My thought was I wanted to know more about and see the other Jaded Ladies who are sharing my weight loss journey. We are putting faces with the names we see every day. The page should tell us more about you. It can be your weight loss, hobbies, ambitions, all or whatever you feel best describes you. Please put your picture on the page. It can be just your face, all of you or whatever. I'm making mine all about what has made me, me! My careers, hobbies, children, grandchildren in micro form. Since I'm new at this, I hope it makes sense. Do what makes you happy, creative but please include at least a glimpse of you.

Jane: I didn't take anything personally. I got a chuckle out of my boo boo. I learned to laugh at myself a long time ago. I agree about wishing more would join us but I thought asking a forum any larger than Jaded Ladies would be too overwhelming.

Marti: How's it going girl? About done with your pages? I'm doing mine assembly line so none are done, but lots in progress. I don't have enough pages of the same background so the backgrounds will be different but the color scheme will be the same.

Tiffany: You said you were pleased with the page you got done. Thank you for the link to the work you have done before. I needed the inspiration!

Good luck ladies!

09-08-2006, 11:02 AM
Hi ladies,

I haven't begun mine yet, and probabaly won't until after next week. We have only one place in town other than Walmart where I can get supplies, and I have made it over there yet. It's Joanne's, a fabric store. Anyone have a Joanne's where you live? They have a pretty good selection of scrapbook stuff. Not like Hobby Lobby, but pretty good.

I had the same idea as Norma, to include what makes up my life. You just know there will be a picture of me with my grandkids, don't you, lol. And I've got a photo of Neal and me when we went to see The Temptations that I'm going to copy. Not sure what else.... I think I'll have to do 2 facing pages, if that's ok.

I gotta tell you... I love this idea and wish more Jaded Ladies would join in!

09-08-2006, 12:33 PM
I haven't started my pages either. They're all to be identical right?

I need to get my printer connected to the computer so I can print photos. So I may be late getting them out...but you'll eventually get them. :)

JJ---great photos! Can't believe you already started!

Hope more join us. But I think it you're right Norma about it could get overwhelming. I go.

09-08-2006, 03:27 PM
LOOK WHAT I FOUND!! Wow!! this site has scrap maps for every size scrap page...or at least a whole It also categorizes them by how many pictures you want on each page what a find!

Also, Thank you very much, Norma, for the wonderful Kudos but I do not deserve them in the least. I am very nervous about scrapbooking, especially 12x12. I have been trying to work my way up to that size but I'm currently only on 7x7. LOL But I DID make a 12x12 about me...VERY HARD...much easier to make them of others. Anyway, if you want to see it, click here if you look around on this site, or type scrapbooking into the search on the gallery page (not mine, but the main one) you will be able to see a lot of beautiful pages from other, more guruquilified people.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

09-08-2006, 04:39 PM
NORMA...gotcha! I'm still trying to figure out how to do mine so it may take a week or two to get it sent to everyone. And of course I will include pitcures of me!

Another question: Are you guys making several pages of the same page or are you copying it? I'm going to copy mine as the scrapbook store in Wichita does that...and it looks just like the real page, colors and all. The only thing is with the things I will use I don't think you will be able to see the detail...I don't know...whenever I get it done and go get copies I will start with one copy to see how it turns out.

TIFFANY...I guess I missed those links before, oops! I think your page is GREAT! I love the colors, the patterns and the butterflies! And you look GREAT too!

JANE...I too was thinking of doing two pages and yes it's fine with me! I can't figure out what to put on the page and think one won't be enough, lol.

MARTI...It may be a while for mine too, well, actually, I'm thinking two weeks at the most....doing the page and getting it mailed.

I love this and I too wish more ladies would do it! Thank you NORMA for coming up with the idea! :thanks:

09-08-2006, 11:58 PM
Cristi - I was thinking that since there are only 4 others doing it, I'll probably go ahead and make a page for each one of you, although I will be making them all the exact same way. Plus, I want to keep one for myself, to pass along to my kids someday, so right now, that's only 5. Once I get the first one all planned and done, the other ones should go quicklly. Emphasis on the word should, lol. It will be a little while for me to get mine done, too. But I feel sure I can get them done and mailed in a couple of weeks.

Marti - you can make real copies of the photos for cheap at the machine at Walmart. Just a thought.

Tiffany - I love your pages!! I haven't checked out the scrap maps yet, but will.

09-09-2006, 05:51 PM
Okay I would do it but I don't know how to scrapbook. My mil does, she is a scrapbooking maybe I could ask her.....................but I just wanted to let you all know why I haven't joined in..............

09-09-2006, 06:03 PM's really easy...I think anyone can scrapbook. Doesn't have to be fancy, because mine aren't, lol. Just a page about you. But hey, maybe your MIL will do one for you.

JANE...after I asked the question I started thinking about it and thinking that copies wouldn't be as good as the original. But I'm still unsure, think it would be faster and easier. :dunno: We'll see...

I cannot believe how dumb I can be sometimes! All these times of having film developed and telling the people no to a CD was just stupid on my part! It wasn't abou tthe extra money, just me thinking I didn't really need a CD. I could have been saving myself sooooo much time from not having to scan pictures, jeez! And they would have been straight with the CD, lol! :dizzy:  Yes, I learned a valuable lesson today ladies...always get a CD when having your film developed.

I'm going to get with it later and see if I can come up with something. I found some pictures but still looking for the "right" ones.

09-09-2006, 10:36 PM
I don't know much about scrapbooking, but I do have a question. Do you ladies do the pages and then put them in a plastic sleeve, or just do a page on paper and leave it at that? I am asking because a friend showed me hers and had the plastic protectors and I wondered if that is the usual way to do it?
I don't think I have time to join in right now, but may someday in the future make pages for you all. I really want to take up that hobby.

09-10-2006, 01:19 AM
Sue: The page protectors are a personal preference. I do "pop up" or "motion" pages and you can't access these inside of a protector. Scrapbook pages are not like photo albums where you want to perserve your priceless pictures. You are putting things like charms, buttons, old doilies, locks of hair, etc. Some people use foam dots to give depth (raises object higher than the surrounding area) as used with paper flowers. I hope some of this information will be helpful.

09-10-2006, 05:47 AM
Thanks Cristina. Yeah I think I can do them, but may need some guidance from mil and besides that, she has all the stuff for it! (Papers, glue, scissors, etc) So why not use her resources? Besides she has told me many times I'm always welcomed to use her scrapbooking stuff and I want to start doing me and hub's pictures too, so maybe this would be a good time to begin! ;)

09-10-2006, 11:50 PM
Hi ladies,

I got some paper today to get me started. I do believe I'll stick to one page each, instead of 2 like I mentioned before, or else I'll never get them done. :dizzy: I saw some really cool stuff in the store - the decorations available compared to a few years ago is awesome! But I didn't buy anything that could get crushed in the mail. It was fun to look at, though.

I do normally put my pages in the plastic protectors only because the grandkids look at them, so I want to keep them clean. I won't be sending my pages to you in the protectors, though.

Ok, so I think we're up to 6 people now, right? I'm going to keep a copy of the page I make, to put with the ones you ladies send.

Mary and I are into making barrettes and hair bows for the girls, so I'll be a busy lady for awhile!

09-11-2006, 07:57 AM
Hey ladies. I just want to say to exclude me. I do want to do it but I don't think I can commit to it right now, maybe the next go round?????? I just don't want to disappoint anybody is all. I do want to try it though, but right now I just don't think I can manage it.

But I think its a fabulous idea. I just wanted to come in to let you all know so that nobody goes out of their way or anything.

09-11-2006, 11:23 PM
Sassy, maybe we can make it an annual thing and you'll feel more up to it next year?

Ok, I've got to go get some photos copied soon before I can go any further. But I'll take care of that in the next day or two. I've been working on the layout, though.

How's everyone else coming along with yours?

09-12-2006, 01:23 PM
I won't be getting my pages done until I get things more organized. So apologies now for it arriving to you all late!

I have everyones address that is doing this:

But I don't have Tiffany. Do you wanna PM your address and share?

Ok...that makes it 5 pages (including myself) correct??? to roam some more.

09-12-2006, 07:04 PM
Yeah Jane that sounds like it would work. That would give me time to work on it. I would like to do it but like I said right now isn't the best time. So if I have a whole year to work on it, then I think I can do that. :D

Wish you gals luck on working on yours!!!!!!!!! :goodluck:

Is it okay if I still hang out in here to get some ideas or tips??? :?:

09-13-2006, 10:36 AM
Sassy - yep, you're very welcome to hang out here, sweetie.

Marti - maybe Jhanai can help you get the pages ready. She really enjoys crafting with you, doesn't she? So far, the official count is 4 plus 1 for ourselves.

Tiffany, Norma, and Cristina - how are your pages coming along?

Well, ladies, I've got the first copy (my copy) all done, and will do the other 4 as an assembly-line project. No way could I keep it to 1 page, so I'm doing 2facing pages, 8 1/2 x 11 size. Also, I decided I will place them in the clear sleeves after all, to help keep them protected during shipement. I don't have anything on the pages that will smash, so I may just use a manilla envelope, and place the sheets between some cardboard. Do you think that will work? I guess I probably should use the padded ones, though.

Have any of you used chalk on the edges of the paper? I thought about this, but didn't use it. I saw Sandi Genovese do it on her show, but I wondered if it smears?

Also, I tried a glue dobber for the first time. I don't know if it was just me, or what, but it was too sloppy! I put it away, and pulled out little tab thingies. Might use tacky glue for tiny stuff on your copies.

Between the scapbooking and the hair bows, my fingers are sore! :dizzy:

09-13-2006, 12:14 PM
A few of the pages I have done I've used chalk and I love how it looks.

One page that I posted was of Jhanai......the moon star is outlined in chalk. I'll have to post the last pages I did when I get a chance...maybe this weekend.

Try it'll love it. Especially on torn paper.......:D

09-13-2006, 05:06 PM
Jane...I've not even started yet...hoping to get to it this weekend. I have everything, and know the layout and such, just trying to find what pictures I want to use. I have some on a roll of film in the camera too that I am thinking I may use...just gotta get it finished off and developed. Once I figure out the pictures then I will be able to get started. Never used chalk...just seemed like it would be messy to me. Plus I am just into doing simple pages. Have you tried the glue dots? They are great because if you don't get the picture or whatever exactly where you want it you can take it off and move it and it won't tear and the glue dots basically rub off. Anyway, that's where I am with the page...deciding on what pictures to use.

09-14-2006, 04:26 PM
Marti - maybe you could use chalk somewhere on the pages you send to us.

Cristi - I haven't seen the glue dots, but I need them, lol. I've had to take apart a couple of things on the 1st copy I did, and man, that can be tough!

Tiffany and Norma - you two haven't checked in for awhile.... how's it going for you?

Well, since I seem to be ahead of everyone else, I stopped working on the ones for you guys, and did 2 pages of when Neal and I went to see the Temptations. I've got pictures of the band, our tickets, and a couple of photos of Neal and me.

I'll start back in on the ones for you guys soon, but I'll wait to mail them when you others have yours ready since it's a group project. I think I can do what's left in one day.

Btw, the picture of Mary I'm giving you shows her holding a doll, and she thinks that's bad. I told her that you all know she's a mama of 3 little girls and won't think a think of it. I don't have many pictures of her w/o a child in her face, lol. Anytime I want to take her picture, she says she doesn't look good enough! :dizzy:

09-14-2006, 04:44 PM
Hi Guys, I've been reading every day but not posting. It sounded like every one was busy with their pages but no where near complete. I've finished my minature afghans that I knitted and I have to apply them to a backing to keep them stiff. I've been collecting various scrapbook items to describe my past occupations. I have not assembled my pages yet. I believe Tiffany has been busy with a sick child and today she sent me a short email stating that her back was causing her allot of pain and she couldn't even sit a the computer for any time due to the pain. I'll keep you guys posted on her status as she and I talk all the time.

09-16-2006, 01:26 AM
Hi there!: I had everything I needed for my pages except that the backgrounds didn't match. I was at Hobby Lobby today and I went a little nuts. I got all new background and matching papers along with allot of little things that reminded me of me. I have so much buzzing in my head I hope I can get everything to look just right and not just a jumble.

09-16-2006, 04:02 AM
Hi to all you scrapping ladies!

I just wanted to let you know that I will be doing 8x8 pages. I feel that it is very chaotic to make a different size page for each person. Though it may not match the size of your book 8x8 is all I can do right now. I do not have 12x12 papers and I only use Stampin' Up! paper and ink. It's just easier this way and we all want to releive stress from our lives right? Here is one way I can relieve some from mine. Thank you all for being so understanding.

09-16-2006, 12:08 PM
Tiffany - all of the pages I'm mailing out will be one size - 8 1/2 x 11. I think each person is making only one size to send. So, no problem at all, sweetie. I expected to receive different sizes from you gals, and mentioned that I'd be putting the larger ones in the back, and the smaller ones to the front of a 12x12 album. (or however big the largest one is) Btw, don't mean to repeat what I've said on the chit chat thread, but I'm so glad you and the little one are both feeling better.

Norma - sounds like your pages will be so interesting! I just kind of focused on my family for my pages, since they took up so much room, lol. I did include a current, close-up photo of my face, so you really know what I look like - yikes!! It's quite scary, lol.

It will be so much fun to see an expression of your lives!

09-16-2006, 01:40 PM
Okay ladies....I am working on my pages this weekend. Won't get them done but it will be a start. I decided to not copy a page after all and went to the scrapbook store a few days ago and bought some more of the same papers and stuff so...just have to get the ideas flowing about the pictures and what pictures to use.

JANE...I thought about a family page too since that has been my life, my family so still not sure what I am doing yet. It will be nice to receive everyone's pages though. And you are not going to scare anyone! I've seen your pictures before and they/you are not scary at all and I won't say anymore for the ladies who haven't seen you!

NORMA...silly woman...I too have so many ideas buzzing in my head and having trouble on how to lay it out on a page. Will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with...I can't wait! And again, I am so glad you came up with this idea.

TIFFANY...amen to that sister...I don't think any of us need any added stress. And the 8 x 8 pages will be fine...whatever is easiest for you. are you doing?

SASSY...I think the annual thing is a good idea (as Jane suggested) and hopefully you can join us next time.

Happy scrapbooking ladies!

09-16-2006, 03:13 PM
The thoughts of my pages are in my head. That's as far as I have gotten. You'll get just may be later than you think.:D

I will probably most definatley use chalk when doing the pages. I love to tear the edges and then darken them w/chalk. get my photos off the computer that I want to use. See...James had changed the hard drives. So my photos are on the old hard drive still. I need to get them off and onto a disc.

Anyway.....that's my story. will start as soon as I get a chance.

Oh....I still don't have everyones addresses. Please send me a PM if you haven't already!!

09-16-2006, 05:17 PM
Tiffany: We want everyone to do whatever size pages that are comfortable to them. I have all size papers so it didn't matter to me one way or the other. The nice thing about your 8 x 8 pages, I can center your page on a larger page and journal the story of how you helped me on my journey. I love some of your quotes and "sage" advice and I can also put these as part of the journaling around your page.

09-18-2006, 10:59 AM
Cristina - aww, you're too kind. My face is heavier than it was when I last shared photos. Whatever you decide to do will be just fine.

Marti - we'll wait for you to send ours out, too. You can always take your photos to be copied at Walgreens or Walmart. Thats what I did, and they turned out well. I hope you do use chalk. I think it looks cool.

Norma - what a cool way to use Tiffany's page! You're a creative thinker, Norma.

Tiffany - I hope you're coming along with yours. Sounds like the pages will be very nice. My niece uses the Stamping Up materials, and makes lots of cards.

I still haven't got mine done, but it won't take long to finish them now that I've got everything ready for an assembly line, lol. The jigsaw puzzle I mentioned has been taking my spare time. :dizzy:

09-18-2006, 04:45 PM
Well so much for trying to get something done. I got as far as getting everything set out on the table and ready to start. Sorry, but these stupid allergies have gotten the best of me and I spent most of the weekend in bed. Today isn't any better but I am tired of laying around. So...

Question for TIFFANY...not thinking, you said you are doing 8x8 pages, now do you want an 8x8 page from us or is the 12x12 fine? Just thought I would ask in case your album only holds 8x8.

09-18-2006, 09:55 PM
Hello all,

I am sorry if my post sounded curt. It's so hard to show voice inflection when typing the message out. I guess that's why I like to use the phone so

Any size pages that are sent to me are fine with me. I just wanted to let everyone know that I wouldn't be able to send differnt sizes out. Thank you all for being so understanding.

I have decided NOT to reproduce the page that I made before. I got a nice layout idea after doing it so I am going to work on it. My pages will be a little later than I thought they would be. But I hope that they will be worth the

On another note, I MUST be doing something right. Tonight, I woke up choking on a foul stench and smoke. Apparently, when we went to bed we didn't turn off the pot of navy beans I was cooking. They are now a pot of charcoal pellets and I am only hoping I can save the pot. I had a bad dream that someone was having a BBQ outside my window and the smoke was coming in making it nearly impossible to breath. I snapped out of my dream when I hit the floor (in my dream) I jumped up and went around poking and shaking my hubby and kids. I made everyone leave the house and opened the windows. My husband wouldn't go. I guess he thought sleep was more important than dying. I was scared that he would suffocate that I kept coming back up stairs and poking him and saying, "are you still alive"
We are all now back in the house. It stinks and the living room and kitchen are still hard to breath in, not because of the smoke but because of the smell. I have closed off that area of the house and left all windows open.
I say I'm doing something right because when someone is working for God and doing the right things they are attacked and harrassed by Satan. I recently increased my commitment to God and have been sharing things with others (I DO mean sharing, not cramming it down their throats like some people do.:) Anyway, I also found out that the roof in my house in NC has caved in and no one mowed the lawn. We had someone "taking care" of the house but they decided they didn't want to. Now I have to get everything fixed. Who knows how much. If you pray please pray for our finances toward the repairs and sell of this house. Thank you in advance.

I am very hopeful and optomistic. I know that it is really and turly not in my control so I must yield to God on this.

So, I hope that all of you are doing well. I'm sorry I can't do individuals right now but I must go back to sleep, it's almost 0300.

 Hugs to you all....YES even the ones who don't like to be I think cyber touching is allowed right...ahahahah

09-20-2006, 04:13 AM
Oh my goodness Tiffany! I am glad everyone is fine and got out of the house...well, except your hubby, silly man. I've burned beans before and man...what a smell. Made me think of a time while living in CA and I was thrown out of bed by an earthquake...tried to get everyone out of bed but DD would not get up...I literally dragged her out of bed by her feet. She then went into the living room and went to sleep under the coffee table, lol! After so many quakes though we usually just went back to bed unless the roof was falling in. Although, some of the aftershocks were a little scary and almost as big as the initial quake. Anyway...glad nothing burned down and hubby wasn't hurt. And yes, I will pray for your finaces to fix the house and get it sold.

09-23-2006, 09:46 PM
Tiffany - yikes, so glad all is well!

Now that I've finished the 2nd jigsaw puzzle, and there's room on the table, maybe I can actually concentrate on the scrapbook pages again.

Can you each tell me what size page you're sending for sure? I want to shop for an album just for the JL pages, and think a 12x12 would be best, just in case. Especially if this turns out to be an on-going project for the JLs.

10-02-2006, 10:47 AM
bumping this up.... how's everyone coming along with your pages? I'll have mine ready this week, and can hardly wait to exchange them with you. :)

10-02-2006, 01:29 PM
My ideas and thoughts are still in my head. I'm going to see if my sister can help me out by taking some photos since all mine are in the old computer!!

I'm going to try and get them done by the end of this month.

How many do I need?? I have three that means I need four if I include myself right?

10-04-2006, 03:55 PM
MARTI...should be five including yourself. One for Norma, Me, Jane and Tiffany, and you of course.

JANE...I actually have some done on my pages and although I thought I would be finished this week, it looks like it may be next week. It will be soon though. We got busy doing other stuff and that suffered so...we don't have plans this weekend and that is when I plan on finishing them for sure!

So are we mailing them out at the same time or just mailing them when we are done? What is every planning on doing?

I can't wait to see everyone's pages! And to put them in my scrapbook.

10-05-2006, 07:15 AM
Well, I couldn't decide on colors. I finally decided to wear clothing with a better for color choices. So, now I'm really getting to making them. I'm very sorry I have been pretty busy. Sorry it's taking so long.

10-06-2006, 01:31 AM
Hi All, I gather from all the conversations that we are going to mail our pages at approximately the same time. Does anyone have any input as to a date to shoot for? How about Halloween? That gives everyone time to get their pages done. I have to mail Tiffany's earlier since overseas mail goes slower than a snails pace. Any input?

10-06-2006, 05:34 PM
Norma...I think Halloween sounds like a good date to shoot for...good for me anyway. don't have to apologize for being busy...we all get busy at times. I thought I would have mine done a while back but it seems something always comes up.

I will be working on mine this weekend, well, Saturday. Planned on Sunday also but V will be home and he works so much we try some time together when he is home.

10-06-2006, 09:51 PM
I haven't worried about getting mine done yet, either, since I knew some of the JLs needed extra time. But my stuff is ready for assembly. My pages are basically about my family, since that IS my life, lol. And they are fairly plain, too. I won't have any problem getting them done by Halloween. That's almost 4 weeks away.

How much earlier should we mail Tiffany's?

I hope we can do this annually, and have even more go in on it next year.

10-07-2006, 02:03 AM
Jane, I think if we mail Tiffanys about a week before the others, she should have it about the same time. I'm mailing a card tomorrow and I'll have Tiffany let me know when it arrives to test exactly how long it takes.

10-07-2006, 01:24 PM
Thanks, Norma. :)

10-08-2006, 04:22 PM
Are we really trying to mail them at the same time???? I'm not sure if I'll get it out the same time. Still working on getting the darn photos.

As long as you get them I suppose right?

10-09-2006, 02:34 PM
Marti - if you want, you could make one page, then make color copies of it. None of us would mind if you did that. Also, keeping it to one page each would make it so much easier for you to do. We don't care if you use photos you already have, ok? I used ones we took when we saw the Tempations in June, and some from earlier this year of my kids. Whatever you have will be fine, ok? Keep in mind there's still 3 weeks to go.

10-09-2006, 02:45 PM
Hi guys. I don't want anyone to get stressed over this scrapbook page thing. This should be fun. I was just wanting to see what you all looked like. Heck, just put a copy of your wedding photo if you don't have anything newer of you. I would love to see all your sweeties. Everyone has left over high school pictures, throw one of them on a piece of paper, use a few crayons for color and ship. See. No Brainer. Just remember, have fun with this.

10-09-2006, 03:06 PM
Norma - if I sent my high school photo, you'd never know who I am if you saw me now, lol. But I agree, anything would be ok. We don't want anyone stressing out over this.

Cristi - did you get much done over the weekend?

Tiffany - I sent your snail mail addy to Marti for ya.

As I said in chit chat, I'm getting mine done today. I started right after breakfast and just stopped for a little din-din, and to check in with the JLs. I'm almost done with mine. :carrot: They will be 2 facing, 8 1/2 x 11 pages.

You guys never did answer if what sizes you're using? Or maybe I just missed your answers, lol. You know me!

Crop on, ladies!

10-09-2006, 03:53 PM
High School photo?! Well, I actually do have one but it's in another scrapbook so. I'm still trying to decide what pictures to use. I have the lay-out that I want but you can only put so many pictures on it. And I have more on a roll of film that is almost don't want to give away what I am using...want it to be a surprise.

Jane...I too am doing two facing pictures, have to to include the family which is what I am all about. Doing 12x12 pages.

I will be done and have them in the mail by Halloween though ladies.

10-10-2006, 10:28 AM
Cristi - I was pretty sure you'd said you were going to use the 12x12. So what I'm going to do is, buy a 12x12 album for all the JLs pages. Then I'll put the smaller ones in front. Oh, this is going to be so much fun!

I got mine done, and found that since they are placed in the protective pockets, they won't fit into the 9x12 manilla envelopes I had on hand, so while I was in town last night for a meeting, I picked up some 10x13 ones. Each time I've been buying scrapbooking paper, I've been taking 2 or 3 sheets of the thick cardboard sheets the store keeps behind the papers, and at the checkout, I tell them that I need them to mail pages. So each package has one real sturdy backing, and a lighter weight cardboard in front.

I think I'll do up a page to place in front of all of your pages, with an explanation of what the exchange was all about. Someday my grandkids will want to know all about it. :)

10-10-2006, 03:40 PM
Good idea Jane about the page. I've not started my album yet. I have a notebook that I've been journaling in and adding pictures there so I have to redo them and put them in the album. I am going to have to make a trip to the scrapbook store and get some of the cardboard. I have some but not near enough to send the pages. Are you using the bubble envelopes or just regular ones? I just saw some, actuall bought a picture envelope to send Josh some pictures but not sure if they have any big enough for the 12x12 pages. They didn't at Walgreens. Of course it will have to be a little bigger than 12x12 for the page to fit in without messing it up.

10-10-2006, 05:07 PM
Cristi - these are just the regular brown manilla envelopes. I think they are called "clasp envelopes" on the package. Walmart had some white ones that the package said was heavy paper, but instead of 25 of them, there was only 12. I took one out of each pack and thought them to be the exact same weight. So for the same money, I got 25 of them. Might come in handy next year when we do this again. I think with the heavy cardboard, they'll be ok. At least I hope so, after all the work I put in them, lol. :dizzy:

10-21-2006, 06:49 AM
Hello ladies!!
I thought I would write and make sure I have everyone's addy for the scrap page. I know that I said (in another message) that I wasn't going to be able to get mine done on time but I HATE to miss a suspense date. I'm working feverishly to get them And BTW: wouldn't you know it, I thought I would be sending out 8x8 pages and my idea doesn't fit on those, so I am now sending 81/2 x 11. Don't you know that the brain doesn't always account for size differences. It's small in there! AHAHAHAHHA
The following are the addys I have. If I missed you or you want to be added, now's the time. I'm printing photos and puting them together. They may not be ON TIME per sey, but they will be pretty close.

Addy's I have:

Thank you all for being so patient and wonderful! I hope you like what you get!!

10-21-2006, 04:45 PM
TIFFANY...I am sure we will like what you make and send. I liked the one you posted earlier and even printed it out. I am having a hard time with mine...guess I am making it too hard. I've not scrapbooked in ages and I guess I am a little out of it. But this is getting me started again so thank you Norma for that! I am hoping to get mine out the latest Tuesday. Cutting it close but...they'll be there sooner than later.

How is everyone else doing with their pages?

10-21-2006, 05:10 PM
Christina--I too am making it too difficult. I guess that is my left brain talking...LOL I'm sure the right side would have no problems

Thank you for the encouragement. I'm trying to get the final touches done now. I wish I could figure out a way to attach vellum without the use of brads. Everything shows through and it's ugly. I guess I will have to use brads after all. Oh well. If you have any suggestions I'm up for them.

10-22-2006, 03:16 PM
Hi Tiffany!

Suggestions...I have none! Ugh, but could use plenty! I am not satisfied with my page and am getting totally frustrated! So, I quit! On that one anyway...going to try something different now. So wish me luck this time, hopefully I will get it right, or the way I like it so I can get them mailed. Anyway, not sure how you are using the vellum but I think the brads wil be fine. What kind of adhesive do you use? Have you tried the glue dots-dotto? I love that because no mater what you do if you mess up you can just pull the picture, frame or whatever up and repostion it...the stuff is great. OR if you decide not to use a certain photo, (like I did, lol) the glue just rubs off the page and the picture or whatever you put it on. But, I've not worked with vellum in scrapbooking. I do simple pages, or try to. I would love to do fancy ones but again, I get frustrated so easily with them if it doesn't come out right. Can't wait to see your page and the rest of you ladies.

10-22-2006, 04:26 PM
Depending on the size of vellum you want to use. I have a sticker maker that I use and put the vellum through. It covers the entire side of the paper and you can't tell and it still gives you that look you're looking for.

Now if you only want parts of the vellum to stick, there are always stickers or you can overlap area's with journalling and such.

Always a way to hide things!

By the way......I have decided to do my pages in the 8 1/2 x 11. I'll stick them in the page protectors when I'm done. I haven't started yet....I believe I should be set to start by next weekend.

10-25-2006, 12:47 AM
If you are having trouble with vellum, you might try just punching a couple of holes at the top of the page as well as the background paper and lace some ribbon through the holes and tie a bow in front. If you don't like this then you can use the mini glue dots in the corners and put a sticker or other decoration to cover the spot. I have vellum tape, and it's totally invisible but I don't know if you have that or not.

My pages will be ready to ship by Halloween. I just need to round up some card stock to use as stiffener in the envelope.

10-26-2006, 06:17 PM
GREAT tips Norma and Marti!

I didn't even think about the ribbon idea Norma until you mentioned it. A few years ago I made DH a valentine card (more like a mini scrapbook album, lol) I used this vellum that had hearts all over it and tied it together at the top with a red ribbon. I'm a little slow sometimes, lol.

The glue dots dry clear if you've ladies not ever used it. I love the stuff because I do layouts and then when I go to do the page I decide I don't like the way it looks and change it...the glue dots let you do this without messing up the picture, or the paper.

And...not going to be getting my pages out until Monday or Tuesday after all. I kept looking at the page I did and I just am not happy with it. It's not so much the layout but the paper I used itself. I may enclose it anyway with the page I do since I already had copies made. I am doing a new page and just one and including the family in it rather than make two pages. I will let you know the day I mail them so you all know when to expect them.

10-27-2006, 05:06 AM
Thank you all for the suggestions. I appreciate you all trying to help me. I think I have mentioned in the past that I am a card maker. I CAN make scrap pages with paper too but I REALLY like to make cards. A friend of mine has introduced me to digital scrapping. I have paint shop pro X right now and can see how easy it would be to make the pages from the computer. Though I do not like to be on the computer for very long, I am going to try it out. I think that digiscraping will be good for me because I won't feel the stress of "wasting". I realy think that this is THE big issue with me and scrapping. If I make a mistake I have to throw it away. LOL I'm working on it...perfectionism is not an easy thing to delete. I am MUCH better than I was a year ago or even 6 months ago. Process, Process, Process. I have all faith in this though, He who begun a good work in me will be faithful to finish it.
I know this doesn't really have anything to do with the current scrap page, I will still be sending out the one I am currently making. I just had to purge this information, and where better to do this than here...LOL

Thank you all for reading, hope I didn't waste any of your time. I can't give that back either...LOL

10-27-2006, 07:39 PM
Oh are not wasting anyones time, or not mine anyway. And I know exactly where you are coming from...that is why I am having such a hard time wiwth my page, ugh! Trying to be perfect.

10-30-2006, 05:00 PM
Whew! Good thing you guys aren't looking for perfection, since my pages are nowhere near that. I'll be mailing mine out tomorrow to you all, and Tiffany, I hope yours gets there ok. I mailed you a card from Chicago, and hope I had the right addy.

Can't wait to get all your pages! This is going to be so much fun! Oh, by the way, Mary said she can't believe I chose that particular photo of her, and to tell you all that Caylin was standing right beside her. She doesn't want you to think she's weird for holding what she's holding. :D Also, the outfit that I'm wearing in the photo of Neal and me clashes with my color scheme, but it was the only really current one I had of the 2 of us together. I know you gals wouldn't mind.

10-31-2006, 01:12 AM
I'm so excited to see all your pages! They will all be great. They are to reflect each of us and I don't think we have a perfect person in the group! (Sorry if I offended anyone). I want to see people pages and not perfection. I'll be mailing mine tomorrow if all goes well with the weather.

10-31-2006, 08:42 PM
Well, today was the day to mail the pages out! I got mine all mailed so be looking for them.

Should I be looking for yours?

11-01-2006, 02:12 AM
Did you ever have one of those days.....I went to Wal-Mart and purchased 5 large bubble wrap envelopes to mail my pages and my debit card was declined. They said my card was not valid. This lead me to have to drive to the next town (the nearest location of my bank) and I found out that my card was fine. Since it's a 45 minute drive from my bank to my house and I still didn't get my bills paid and groceries purchased, I had to rethink my schedule. By the time I got home, it was too late to get back to the post office before they closed. I will go to the post office in the morning to try this all over again. BTW, I checked back with WalMart concerning my card and another cashier advised me that many of the card readers were having problems and it angered several people. I wish I was told that they were the problem, it would have saved me some time and gas driving to Russellville.
I'll confirm the mailing tomorrow.

11-01-2006, 06:08 PM
Norma...your day sounds like the way my week has been going. Needless to say I didn't get the pages mailed, sorry. :sorry: :sorry: :sorry: But...(there's alway sa but in there isn't there?) I do plan on getting them mailed Friday morning. I have a busy day tomorrow shopping and errand running so can't get to the scrapbook store to get copies-I made a new page, lol! Wasn't happy with the first one and didn't want to do two after all. So put the family on one. As with Norma, I will confirm Friday once I mail them to let you guys know to be on the lookout but there shouldn't be a problem.

11-01-2006, 11:14 PM
Norma..Same thing happened with me at Wal-Mart. They declined my credit card, I asked her to let me try again...and she did. When I told her I wanted to try again she was not so nice. I left, went to another store and used the card with no problem. So I KNOW their card readers are bad here too.

I wish I had done the pages...I want to see them. :(
Maybe next time....

11-03-2006, 05:09 PM
Hello Ladies...

SUE & NORMA...they have been having trouble with the ones here also. My debit cards not been declined but it took forever one day and I had to swipe it several times. The girl said they've been having problems with them. I don't bother with writing a check anymore because they started that new thing and run the check thru and then give you the check sense in wasting a check.

JANE...THANK YOU! I received your pages today and they are GREAT! Funny thing and I have been laughing all day about it...I didn't even think to put my name anywhere, or anyones, lol! I don't normally journal in mine because I know who I am, lol. So wasn't thinking about doing it for you guys..doh! I like how you journaled though, it looks nice. Oh well, maybe the next one I will do better, lol.

I DID get my pages mailed today! :carrot: :cp: And...I decided to not do a different one after all. I just went ahead with the ones I had already made. You guys may need to trim it some. The way they printed the pages is kind of goofy. The side has yellow to it for some reason...don't think they put it all the way to the edge of the printer, plus it cuts off a little at the bottom. Anyway, they are done and sent so you guys will probably get it Monday I'm thinking. Well, except for Tiffany. I did do priority on yours so well see how long it takes. Just wanted to let you know.

11-03-2006, 07:47 PM
Cristi - aww, thank you for your kind words. I'm not very good at scrapbooking, but I try to put my heart into it. As you can see, mine were all family, but that's mostly what my life is all about. Well, family and the other things I journaled about. I can't wait to get yours! And the others, too, or course, when they get mailed. Not to worry about the edges of yours. If they need trimmed, it's no problem. Can't wait to see them!!

Sue - maybe you can get in on next year's pages. Or depending how long the others take, maybe if you hurry, you could still get in on this year's, lol.

11-04-2006, 01:49 AM
Jane...I do think you did a good job. And I like the green and pink together. Especially the green paper. When I first looked at it I didn't realize it was shimmery...really pretty.

That would be great SUE...if you could join in. I almost wasn't going to send my pages because I thought about doing a different one when we get our Christmas pictures back next week. But I was late in sending them as it was so...

How's everyone else doing? Did you get yours mailed or are you working on them? Can't wait to see them.

11-04-2006, 03:41 PM
Okay, since I forgot to write names and such on the pages thought I would fill you ladies in here.

The tiny picture of me and Vince (DH) was before we married back in 1999. The other small one is in 2001 I believe. The picture of him by his self was taken a few months ago when we were going to sell the house...he is in the new house we were going to buy. Me on the bleachers was taken last December when we were in Georgia for Josh's graduation. The one above was taken about 2 weeks ago and while it looks like I am hurting Ernie dog, I'm not. I was holding his head so he would look towards the camera. Poor puppy...didn't realize you can see his eye when he was sick. I didn't like that picture but it was the most recent of me. Next page DD (Carrie) eating her munchos, lol. That was while we were in Arkansas at the cemetery last year. The one below is of her on her 22nd birthday this past Jan. Jason is on the black and by his new car he bought a few months ago. I must say, he has lost about 35 pounds since then and Carrie has lost about 15. And then of course there is my soldier son Josh. The top one is graduation day and the bottom one was while he was training in CA. Anyway, that's the family. You'll see a better picture of me and Vince together when I send Christmas cards in December. He looks like Santa with that beard...not one grey hair on his head though, funny. Anyway, thought I would share.

11-04-2006, 11:46 PM
Thanks Cristi! This will be helpful when the pages get here. I think I'd recognize everyone in your family, but the newer gals wouldn't. Also, it's fun to know the circumstances of each photo.

12-04-2006, 05:37 PM
Hello ladies...

Just wondering how you other ladies (NORMA, TIFFANY & MARTI) are coming along with your pages? I was so looking forward to receiving them and here it is December already. Just curious...

12-05-2006, 12:26 PM
My apologies.....I've put that project on hold until after the holidays. I'm having a hard time keeping up w/everything else that NEEDS to be done.

But I will get one to you Cristi I PROMISE!!! I just need to get the photos put in place is all.

Hope you'll forgive my tardiness!

12-05-2006, 04:52 PM
No problemo Ms Marti! :) I was just curious about them...hope that post didn't come off as being snotty. But yeah...totally understandable with the holidays here already. Still can't believe it is Christmas time! :tree:

12-12-2006, 08:46 PM
I am late to this party, and didn't get to read each post...but have any of you seen "The Book of Me"? It's all about journaling about one's own life, in just the way some of you have mentioned.

That's the author's blog
