I had my gastric bypass 4 months ago. Although I am new to this lifestyle, I think about what lifelong changes I will have to make to stay on track. I know that I have to make myself a priority and these are the tips that I hope will keep me on track:
1. Make exercise a daily part of my life. That means going to the gym at least 3 times a week to lift weights and do cardio.
2. Eat small meals 4 times a day. That means being measuring everything out at home and not eating more than a handful at a restaurant (and taking home the rest).
3. Drink at least 64 ounces of fluid a day. Keeping hydrated will keep hunger at bay.
Any other tips? What behaviors have you adopted that can keep us all on track?
You're off to a great start. I had GBS 3 1/2 years ago. I might add, to make sure to really chew your food well. I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten to do that, and ended up sicker than a dog. This is especially true with meat. CHEW, CHEW, CHEW!
Good luck with the rest of your journey, too. The surgery can open up a whole new world for folks like us.
