Well, it is a new week, full of new experiences, laughs and challenges. Let's get this week kicked off on a postive note. I ran across this quote and loved it:

You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.
Let's persevere ladies and get healthier and lose weight by making good choices in our eating and activity.

Challenge(s) this week*

Water - Shoot for at least 10 8oz. glasses

Physical Activity - Get in some type of activity as many days out of week as you can.

Hey u2girl Man I jest got done doing my WATP and boy . My DH went out and Bought me 4 New videos to do 3 WATP these are different then the ones that I was using. The other is By Jillian Michaels ( The Biggest Winners) She has a whole line of Workout videos and they are all based on Kick boxing I watched it and I am going to try it but it might be a few weeks before I do . She kinda may be feel like I would need alot of strength to do but a real challenge to do it. What makes it cool is that she has a section on the DVD that you put the DVD in the computer ( Must Have A DVD driver) and she has printable workout logs and eating logs and even recipes. It is so cool and then their is a special section on how to get in shape for bikini season. I will have to try the other two that I didnt do taday.

Danielle - Hi there lady. Boy do I know what you mean about coming home from the grocery and being shocked by your purchases. Many times I've gone there hungry and come home with a bunch of costly junk.
I hope to see you around today Chicky. Enjoy the new mama truck. You'll like it more as you get used to it.
BTW, maybe you don't have to do a specific plan. You've learned about a lot of different ones. Maybe just take the best from each plan, decide what you can live with and then do that. Tweak it as you go along. Meanwhile keep at it with the bike and keep hanging out with Bob. :)

IChanged - Welcome, welcome! Sounds like you're doing a good job. Portion control and awareness are very important when you're changing your eating habits.

Tricia - I'm sorry to hear about your electricity going out. I'm glad you're back in business! Great job on your eating though! No big deal about the cornbread. Just keep going.

Melissa - I'm so glad you enjoyed the wedding. Good for you on preparing for the coming week. It's much easier to have success when you're prepared. I love those digital scales!
I can relate with your daughter not wanting to leave. I remember being a kid and hating to leave when there was more fun to be had.

Elycia - Your scale calcs body fat? I gotta have one!!! I didn't even know they existed. I'm bidding on one on Ebay right now. Hope I get it! You have all the weight loss info and goodies over there. Plus you've always got something good to share with us. Thanks so much!! I know I've thanked you a million times for even coming up with the idea to start this thread, but thanks again. :hug:

Yeah, losing lots of weight can affect your cycle. The hormone estrogen is stored in fat cells. When you start losing the fat all that estrogen is released into your blood stream. It can then cause a little havoc at times. Things will eventually normalize.
How sweet of your husband to get those videos for you! He's a beautiful, beautiful man. It's great to have that sort of loving encouragement.

Sara - I love the farmer's market. I haven't had to go recently though because my mom has a bunch of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and cucumbers growing in her yard. I'm sooooo spoiled. :)

AquaChick - Great job on the workout. I know what you mean because I was drenched today. You're makin' money chick!!
Good for you on moving past the Snickers craving too. Those cravings can be wicked. Thanks for reminding us that weight loss is mostly mental. We need to read it over and over and over again. One day things will click and we'll all "get it".
I know what you mean about having that food around. Last night my husband and I saw the commercial for lasagna pizza at Pizza Hut. He said that he was going to buy one today. So far I think he's forgotten. I PRAY he doesn't remember!

Kandice - There used to be another poster on our thread Rkrs, I think. I'm pretty sure her name was Stacy. She tried the Special K Plan and lost. I don't remember how much though. It seemed that she had good success with it though.

GOOD NEWS!!! I just won my Ebay purchase!!! I'm gonna be able to calculate my body fat!! You know what? All of a sudden I'm feeling a little ambivalent...... :?: :shrug:

BTW, I watched the Harvey Walden dvd last night. :drill: :coach: I'll do it tomorrow. I'm convinced that man has some major, major issues. The workout seems pretty good though. I might be in the minority, but I love that guy. He's so funny! And he doesn't cut them any slack.

Speaking of, did anyone see Celebrity Fit Club today? Angie Stone really got on my nerves. The big guy (I don't remember his name) didn't do her any favors by feeding into her excuses and pity party. The Baywatch chick was lucky to have been voted off. They did her a favor.
Anyway, Angie Stone was making all these excuses and pointing the finger. Meanwhile she was in the bathroom smoking and next week they'll find out that she hasn't been taking her diabetes meds. :rolleyes: Unbelieveable. I can't stand attention greedy, drama queens! :mad:

Im really happy I joined this! I went out with some friends for lunch today and i ordered a salad with dressing on the side (barely used any), a burger with a brown bun and water, I never order a salad and if i do, its cesar salad and i never ask for brown bread and i usually get pop or iced tea so I am really excited to start losing this weight and eating healthier. I walked around the parking lot a bit after (nothing like a workout) but I was content and satisfied. I do need to start walking at least, cause Turbo Jam doesn't come until the first day of school, which is september 5th and its 9 days away so I have do some sort of exercise to warm my body up, cause I haven't done a lot of physical activity (especially not everyday). I don't want to injure myself when I start. Anyways, I'll proabably check on in later for updates from ppl. Thx everyone for supporting me!

My current weight is 8 lbs more than yours, and there's only a five pound difference in our goals. I'll be watching. I'm gonna try to keep up with you! :)

2. My Ipod - love those tunes to get me in the mood, or when im frustrated listen to the music and go running
3. The Winning Losers - You guys are one of my biggest supporters. It's nice to have people you can lean on and you guys can lean on me too!
4. INK - wanting tattoos and knowing I cant get anymore until I get to my goal weight. Plus that series INKED makes me really want them.
5. CLOTHES - I have this outfit I bought thats hanging up in my room so I can see it so that I can drive myself to one day fit in it.

Amany- Gotta love putting money in the "fat box"... :D You are doing so good. I thought about trying out the CFC, but, Harvey scares me!!! I guess that's his job, but I don't respond well to being hollered at. I'm hard headed that way... lol...I love CFC though! More inspiration to add to my stash.

1. My old clothes I have hanging in front of the treadmill. They are size 5/6. It's like the carrot on a pole. (think of old bugs bunny cartoons, they used the carrot as a "lure". lol...
2. My husband. He made me really upset about a bowl of cereal, yet he orders delectable cuisine that is loaded with what I am not allowed to have. I am displaying my will and he will know that I am quite capable of doing this despite either of those extremes. (all in all though he has told me how proud he is of me and he is sorry about the cereal incident, quite embarassing for him)
3.My health. I have heart issues, and I want to live to 100 or more. I'm sick of high blood pressure.
4. The back of my legs. I have what I have dubbed "ham ***". You know, those cans of I laugh and cry over it, but "ham ***" is about to be gone forever, I ain't even playing around. (that was a brutally honest motivation confession)
5. Feeling beautiful. I think this is in my head more than anything, but I hide under big clothes. (too big really). I want to walk around and feel like I can move with grace and dexterity, and feel beautiful. I think it will make me happier.

Good Afternoon ladies!! thought I'd pop in and check on you guys before the game starts. We are HUGE Denver Bronco fans in this house and the game is on tonight, plus big brother, plus the emmys! Sheesh with a schedule like this you'd think i was a couch potato...naaa not me! LOL!!

My top 5 things that help me lose weight:
1. Support support support!! I would say being an active member of a group like this is what drive me and keep me on track the most.
2. My girls, when I dont want to do it I just tell myself its for them, and lets face it I'll do anything for them, but mostly I want to live for them!
3. Journaling, I find that I stick to plan much better if I journal daily.
4. Drinking water!
5. Graduation coming!

I hope everyone has a wonderful night!! I'm having my official weigh in tomorrow morning on the new scale, and tonight is a free for all! We are having tenderloin, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner...oye!

lol, we are Vikings fans over here.Yes, we bleed purple, or my husband will kick us all out of the house. I am going to get a brand spanking new Viking T-shirt when I lose my weight, it's a gift from hubby. That and a nice big bottle of Victoria's Secret lotion and Body spray. Mmmmmm, I love that stuff!

Ladies good evening I jest got back from my two mile walk.

My top five would be.

1. My husband and Children
2. The winning Losers
3. Exercise
4. Being actually full now when I eat.
5. To know that I am giving myself a chance to stick around longer and see my kids grow up.

Let me tell you My DH blesss his heart went over to the convient store across the street to buy my daughters some Slim Jims and Came back and said I got you a bag of Skittles. I took them and Didnt say anything. I looked at them and they have 250 Calories per bag. I set then aside he asked me if I was going to eat then and I said sorry but I dont need that 250 calories. He looked at me and said he was sorry he wasnt thinking. They are still sitting on the top of the frig.

I gtg get my kids in the bed school tomorrow.

Aww, Bonnie that is so sweet that your husband went out and bought you those new workouts. That was so thoughtful. Now you have some new workouts to add some variety. I am glad that you have support in your home. Jillian Michael workouts, yep I know of those. I have not done them though. I may rent from Blockbuster to check it out and if I like it well enough, I will buy. Let me know what you think of it. My 10% goal is to buy a new workout, so if I like it, maybe Jillian will be it. Let us know what you think of your new WATP. I have a few of them, but I still need to get Walk & Kick. :)

Amanda, thanx for the thanx, but you know that this check-in wouldn't be a thing if you guys weren't so good at posting and being encouraging. I am very thankful to you guys. Accountability here has helped me so much and you guys keep me pumped up! It's great! Glad that you won the scale. I hope you like it. I tell ya, I don't even fool with Ebay anymore because I get so frustrated with it. I will bid on the most obscure things and someone else bids on it. It's like - Give Me A BREAK, somebody really wants this? I have to get in bidding wars with everything, so very seldom do I go to Ebay. It use to be one of my favorite places. Anyways, congrats on your scale. Now you have a new motivator ~~ watching the body fat percentage lower. :) I hear ya on trying to keep up with Heather since you have similar goals. I thrive on a little healthy competition. :D

Heather, good job on the eating today. You made some great choices. I know what you mean about salads. Last week, I ate a salad for lunch and lord knows that is the unusual for me. You are doing wonderful and it sounds like you are determined to lose weight. That is great! If you stick with us and keep your determination, you will be wearing that small size dress for your graduation/prom. Hang in there Heather. :)

Sara, I am so glad that you feel that we are supporters to you. Losing weight is not an easy job, so you need all the support that you can get. We are happy to have you. :)


ETA: I think I misunderstood the question. I thought it was talking about support, but from others responses, I think it is talking about motivations.

1) My Family - My number 1 motivations are by beautiful daughters. I don't want them to imitate my bad eating habits and have weight issues, so I want to get it under control NOW. Also, my wonderful husband Stan. He is very cooperative and supportive.
2) My girls here at "The Winning Losers". You girls are awesome and a tremendous help in keeping my mind focused and giving me a good laugh now and again.
3) It has helped me because I know exactly what I put in my mouth and makes me keep a watchful eye on what I eat. Great site and free.
4) Ya-Ya's. A great fitness forum that gives support and answers any questions, I may have regarding fitness and weight loss. I also keep a journal there of how I am feeling from day to day and sometimes others pop in to encourage me. That helps alot.
5) My sister. She is a good bit heavier than me and she really wants to lose weight. She has not been eating any fast food or drinking pop right alongside me. Not wanting to stumble her has kept me in line as well.

Aqua, I am glad that you liked the intro. Your support and motivators are great!

Melissa, hope you are enjoying the game and your new scale. :)

Heather great job at lunch with your friends.;)

I have been so busy this weekend. My gym is closed on Sundays (Ladies of America) so I'm going to make that my day off from exercise. I only got in 4 days of exercise this week, but I'll catch up with you ladies that are doing 2 mile walks and 6 days of solid exercise.:)

With the support of Winning Losers my first week was a real success. :D I lost 3 lbs ( water weight). And i thank you ladies for that. My second week should be a breeze I Hope. My husband brought me home some coolers saturday night and i refused them due to the sugar and carbs. So I know my head is on straight this time. Because I generally would have wolfed them down..

I will have to catch up on personals later. You chicks are on a role lately.
Gotta go babie needs to go to bed. She doesn't sleep until I do, she likes to cuddle.

1. My Miracle babie. If she can survive being 1lb 3oz then I can definitely loose this weight so that I can take care of her as I should. Unitl she no longer needs that mommie support.

Bonnie How are the Jillian tapes (besides hard)? Are they easy to follow? Are they expensive? Do they require equipment? I hadn't heard anything about those! I've been doing TurboJam and it's really getting to me, but I can already see the results. Only 2 pounds gone, but 11.5 inches have flown away.

Amanda I didn't see CFC, I was at work. :mad: Is there any place to download it that you know of? That's the only way I can get my TV show fixes

Heather great job on the salad! Send some of your willpower this way. It's awesome that you can resist the temptation to splurge while you're out.

Altari- Oooooh, good one, reflections in the store windows make me e-mo-tion-al!!! Especially the walking in view, I can see the front of my thighs. I also wear my husbands clothes (even though he weighs less than me, he wear XL so it is baggy on him) Sheesh, another motivator for me could just be wearing women's clothes and feeling feminine for the first time in a very long time!

I'm in a pretty good mood this morning. Hubby told me last night he is very happy for me, and proud of how I resisted all those fattening yum yum's he put under my nose.

Whew!! I just completed Donna Richardson's 30 Days to Slimmer Arms and Abs. I loved the toning and stretching sections. They're really challenging. The aerobic part is even more challenging cause it's gonna take me a week to get all that dancing! :mad: So I'll be doing it every morning this week until I get it. Dang it!

AquaChick - I agree. Harvey is really scary, but there's nothing he can do to me from the television set. ;) On the video it's funny when he says things like, "Suck in the danggone gut and do the danggone warm up." or "You will git off yo butt and do it!". :lol:
Isn't it great when your husband notices how hard you've been working? Awww.... It seems like he's really starting to empathize with what you've been going through. Good for him! You've been doing a great job of resisting those temptations.

I got a Tania 2001 fat calculating scale. With the shipping it all came to about $14.

Remeber ladies to challenge yourselves this week with the exercise!! At least 4 days of aerobics, at least 15 minutes each time. If you haven't started, then start! If you've been doing it, then kick it up a notch!! BAM!!! Oh wait.... I was having an Emeril moment. I'm sorry I forgot where I was....

Hello Brat, congrats on that weight loss and welcome back!

Sapphire, congrats on that weight loss. It's a good idea to compensate in another way when you don't meet your goal of water. Good idea!

Altari, I hear ya on the shirts riding up around my waist. I bought a shirt without trying it on not too long ago and I was like "What is going on?" That sucker kept riding up. It was making me so mad. I put that shirt away and haven't worn it since. It will be nice when you whittle down that waist. Don't give up and neither will I. We will be there soon. :)

Bonnie, I missed your skittles post. Good for you. Wow, you are doing great! That is definitely an NSV in my book. You passed on a snack that would have cost you 250 calories. Even making sure that you look at the labels is great. Great job, Bonnie! Great job!

Aqua, I am so glad that your husband is being more cooperative. Now we just have to stop him from eating that fattening stuff in front of ya. Well, there is a good side to that. If you can PERSEVERE through that, you are really seeing your strength. You are seeing how strong you are and that will help you in moments of weakness. You are doing great Aqua!

Amanda, it sounds like you have a variety of workouts as well. That is great! Variety is the spice of life as they say. That's so nice that your hubby gets up to support you. I wish my husband would because if he did, I could probably get him to workout with me. It was so funny, one time I did a FIRM workout and tried to get him to do it. My husband is such a "guy", and he was like :NO WAAAAY! That's a girly workout. " I got him some Gilad, but he really can't stand working out. I will get him though. :D

Well, I gotta work with my girls. Unbelievably, they are still sleeping. What is up with that? :?:

I can hadly believe that it is Monday already and I am seriously getting ready to go back to school. I just took about 6 trips to the car to load up boxes to take to school. My finace is still sleeping. I told him he had to get up at 830 so I am letting him sleep til then. I cannot wait to see my classroom. Someone told me no air and that it is the hottest class in the school... not something to look forward to, but oh well, some teachers do not even have a classroom.

Well, the brunch was a bust.... it was bad food galore. THe choices were eggs benedict, prime rib or begian waffles... I went with the belgian waffle with fruit. I also ended up eating junk like bacon and sausage. My body did not appreciate that on bit. I became very ill when I arrived home. I think it was the combination of too much grease. My body just was saying no way... so it goes to show you that when you are getting your body in check, it will let you know what it accepts in it. ha ha..

it sounds like you have alll done a most incredible job. I am hopingthat I can post tonight after i am done at school, but I am staying at Michael's. If I cannot, I am thinking of you all... make good choices today....:carrot:

Altari I havnt done Jillian yet I was thinking of giving it a shot today. Since Dh and DS has gone to work and the other kids are at school. I watched it and it seems very tough. The one I got was not expensive I got it at Kmart for 9.99 that . I almost flipped I thought it would of been more then that. I believe their are some that need like the step bench to use I dont know for sure Ithink iam going to search the internet and see what up.

Elycia I got my Walk and Kick from Walley world it was only 9'99. Not a bad price You can only find them in the Exercise Section in sporting goods. The three I got yesturday was Two in the weight Loss Series 30 min walk and then Walk and strong and that one every few minutes they do strenght traning then the last one was The walk Diet 1 and 2 miles on one dvd. other two was only 9,99 and the one with 1 and 2 was 12,99 that wasnt bad at all.My husband asked me last night If I wanted to go get some more and I told him not right now may be later after I get my new computer out of layaway. Then Iam getting high speed service. :carrot:

Hey everyone! :wave: Happy Monday Morning!

My 2cents for the day- don't forget to drink milk during your diets. 9 out of 10 girls and 7 out of 10 boys don't drink enough milk- on my milk carton this AM. we want toned muscles and healthy bones!

it's going to be a busy and tempting week though- esp the end. the battle of the bridge football game- we take football seriously down here in NC. against the city across the river. that's on friday and the whole town goes! seriously my first year of living down here and they played I went out that night and the streets were empty and I mentioned it to the coworkers "gee, there were no cars on the street last night" "oh it was the battle of the bridge" and You always have to get food. - hotdogs or burgers and peanuts... we have a couple of birthdays in the office this week and everyone gets a cake and gets to go out to eat. ugh.

ANyone have a good reliable pedometer? I had a couple cheap ones before and it never seems to record all my steps. Sometime I'll count and then check it and it's not right. where can I get one?

Back to 208 this AM but I will do better this week. still it was 3 lbs last week...

Amanda- congrats on the ebay purchase- I saw those at walmart- I thought I'd like one too because we all know muscle weighs more than fat. make sure you post your results!
Thanks for the motivation challenge- least 4 days of 15 minutes! we all should be able to do that!

Heather- welcome! These are a great group of supportive ladies. I was an overweight teen all through highschool - I'm 26 now- but I was always in a 16/18. had 1 boyfriend. definitely does something to your selfesteem! so all the best- and we'll be here to keep you in line! good choices the other day!

5 things that help weight loss?
1. the clothes I used to wear and want to get back in them and the easier shopping trips.
2. of course the winning losers- I said when I first rejoined that I need you guys!
3. kinda goes with number 1 but seeing my muscles- I know they exist and I like seeing them esp my strong legs- quads and hamstrings and my tight belly/abs. I know it's there and I want to see it again!
4. water- while drinking so much water throughout the day I tend to stay away from the worse soda and koolaid.
5. stamina, wanting to be able to do more activity without getting winded so soon. My DH and I walk for almost everything- march of dimes, race for the cure... and I feel silly getting out of breath so soon, so working up to that.

bonnie- I look at the labels now too and make decisions off of that. wtg on passing on the skittles.

trish- oohhh that drives me crazy too- the thighs rubbing together. that's a good one!

off to do some work- will check in later!

Hello Lovelies!!

Hey, I have a little tip for you. Try holding your stomach in for as much as you can during the day. As you do it more, it will become easier. Here's why....

1. It will strengthen your abdominal muscles, giving you a sleeker look.
2. When your abs are stronger, they will help the back support you. That way all of the strain is not on the back.
3. This will force you to use your lungs more. A lot of us have a tendency to inhale and exhale using our stomachs more than our lungs; sometimes causing the stomach to stretch. So this will also make the lungs stronger.
4. Muscle burns fat even while you're at rest. Adding muscle boosts your metabolim. BTW, the real reason that our metabolism slows down as we get older is that due to our lose of muscle as we age. Build a little muscle, burn a little more fat. You don't have to be bulky. Lean muscle is what we're going for right? Muscle tone.

Kandice - I hate milk!! Yuck! :mad: Got my yogurt though! :D
Hey, a three pound weight loss is still good news.

Bonnie - Having variety with your workouts will make them better. At least it does for me. It takes the boredom out of it, and prevents my muscles from getting complacent.

Tricia - I hope your week, even with it's challenges, will feel like a breeze. Or at least breeze by :lol: I know what you mean about your body letting you know that it doesn't want certain things. I ate some full calorie, full fat ice cream about a month ago. Oh, did I suffer...

Elycia - Have a great day today lady. Sometimes I'm grateful for when my husband falls asleep during my work outs. He thinks some of them are hilarious. So he laughs, which makes me laugh and throws me completely off. He was up for like the first 5 minutes or so of my Donna Richardson work out today and he was like, "It looks like you're in a Janet Jackson video.". Then he started singing "Control" and laughing. He's a mess! :lol:

I hope I'm not stepiing on anyone's toes or offending anyone when I say this, but some of those fit clubbers p@#$ me off! I know we all have a tendancy to fight with our food and lose. I know, I understand. But, we do not have personal one on one help the way these people do. The audacity to order a pastrami sandwich, carrot cake, to moan about her heart (I do not have congested heart failure, granted)but I do have an arrythmia that freaked me out too when I began my journey.(remember? ;) ) But once my cardiologist said, Ma'am, you are overweight. You need to help yourself to feel better- I knew I had to push past my fear of dropping dead, and get some sense when it came to how to eat to lose weight (ahem*liquid diet*cough*). She is keeping that crutch even though her cardiolgist basically gave her a green flag, told her nutritionist she needs this, and told her it was to get a little better. (you never recover from congested heart failure) She's also diabetic, what the **** is she doing eating all that bread and carrot cake? :mad: I guess I am mad because people that keep wishing never get anywhere. I'd be mad if she was on my team. Excuses. If you don't really want to, it's your business. She should have never signed up for the show. Man I'd go batty if my husband wanted to chat while I worked out. :dizzy: Me: muscle....burning.... ouch..ow..ow...ow... *looks at husband looking at me* WILL YOU GET OUT OF HERE so I can whimper in peace..." lol....

TriciaK- It's hard to say no when you are out with people at something like that. I am barely learning to grasp ahold of myself with stuff like that. I haven't had to go out to dinner with anyone yet. I'm such an obsesser...I'm already figuring out what I will order out of an array of like 5 different places that we will probably could be having dinner at with my in-laws in the near future. I'm just gonna say it, and not look back. What's hard is when people say things like "that's it? Oh, honey, eat, we're here to have a good time" :rolleyes: They wanna derail your diet, and make you feel like your commiting a crime by trying to teach yourself a new way of living. My family is sooooooo bad about that. My mom gets mad if I order salad in a public place! :lol: I know for a fact it's because she doesn't want to see me eat healthier than her. Her and my sister are bad about just dropping by McDonald's and getting you some lunch to be "nice"- er, when they know you're on a diet.... I have no respect for that kind of sabotage, and I have been mentally prepping myself to stand up for myself and say something like "Thanks anyway, but I don't eat like that anymore". I've worked too hard. It's about us baby!!! For once!!! To us! :cheers:

kandices2ndtry- I hate milk. :( I do take calcium supplements, do you think this is enough? Calcium is so important, I know.
We take football dead serious in this house too...well, my husband does, I'm dragged along for the ride. Pretty soon I am going to be designated to cook a feast for his friends for a game. I love doing it, I really do. It makes them so happy, but the temptation will be unbearable.
My sister has been overweight her whole life. I can't remember her being small. I feel bad, because she was the youngest and I was the second youngest. My mom totally gave up on cooking and we were raised on McDonald's and other fast foods, I believe with all my heart that set her down the road to obesity before she was 5 years old. By the time I was a Freshman in high school, I got sick of it and refused it. It gave me a special appreciation for home cookin'. Of course now I have to eat frozen dinners to put myself in check... :rolleyes: McDonald's is highly addictive though, I think because they put so much sugar in it. My sister will go almost daily- even if she has to hide the fact. :(
I picked up my ice cream habit from both of my parents. My mother hid and ate it at night while we slept, my father would blatantly smash a cookie or peice of cake into a premium vanilla every night. Then he would look at me and say, "this is awful. I only have a fat belly because of this habit." I still picked up the tradition though and my Haagen Daaz habit added over 70 pounds to my 110 pound frame!!! I think if my husband brought something like that in the house right now I'd break down and cry. It is a drug to me. :(

Okay sweeties, I'm on a ramble this morning. I don't know what got into me, I must've had an adreniline rush from my morning workout... lol...:carrot:

Jest something Quick. OMG I tried to do Jillian but I did the 5 min warm up and then 5 minutes into I was so exhausted and tired I could hardley catch my breath so I think Iam going to use it as a gaol . Witch will be the next time I do it I would like to get beyond the 5 min warm up and 5 minutes of the exercise. Before long I know I will be able to finish the whole thing. Yeah that will be great.

I looked into the Jillain videos and she has 4 videos. I went to collagevideos and it lets you have a 60 sec preview of the videos. But boy they cost Any where you can get them cheaper??? Let me know.

Thanks for the encouragment on the skittles they are still on top of the frige. I started the BL diet and it is full filling Im not hungry I look at the clock and think boy its time to eat again. This jest might be what I was looking for and its real food. Dairy, Protein, Veggies and fruit and it even lets you have whole grains. GTG lots to do 2 more days till granddaughter gets here.

Good Morning Lady Girls!

It's been several days since I posted.....our computer system at the office was going HAYWIRE! Anywho, it's great to see some new members. Altari...I noticed you live in Chicago, so do I! What a great city, eh?!

I continued training for my breast cancer walk this weekend and did 14 miles on Saturday! It was TOUGH! But I felt so good afterwards (even though I couldn't really walk). Ha!

I love the 5 here are mine:

1. My high school cheerleading picture. I know that sounds ridiculous because it will be very difficult to get down to that weight, but it is a great piece of motivation.

2. My sister.....she just had twins and weighs about the same as I do right now. So (though I haven't told her), I've decided to "compete" with her in terms of weight loss. It's healthy competition. And my theory is that if she can handle two babies and a healthy lifestyle....I certainly should be able to!

3. My boyfriend.....for 2 reasons. First, he is so supportive and has made it abundantly clear that he loves me no matter what. Last night he told me that he would love me if I was 900 pounds and grew a third leg. He said we could start our own circus! Hahahahaha! He has such an amazing sense of humor and keeps me in smiles. Second, he weighs less than I do....about 170, so my first goal is to weigh less than him.....then I'll set another goal from there.

4. The Winning Losers! Though I've only been a part of this group for a short time, you guys are so inspiring. And I love the fact that we all come from different backgrounds and have different lives and are surrounded by different people......yet we all share this common goal! It's SO great!

5. WATER. I love water. I can't say this enough. I drink soooooooo much water and it really helps curb my appetite and ward off cravings. It's FANTASTIC!

Now for some shout outs!

Bonnie....way to go on the Skittles! And it's awesome that they're still sitting on top of your fridge. I would have had to give or throw them away! That is really really cool!

Aqua....I'm with you on Harvey. He scares the pants off me. I actually think Billy Blanks is really scary too. But, CFC, is AWESOME this season! I mean the drama of course. I was really annoyed at Angie too. This week was all about excuses. My favorite is Bone Crusher. He's so funny! And it seems like he's really sticking to the plan. Did you see him sumo wrestling?! Comedy at it's finest.'re so inspiring. Getting so excited about a scale! That's so great! And I think you have about the nicest husband in the world. That's really cute that he gets up with you so that you have company.

U2Girl....good luck with the new job! Change can be scary, but is ultimately so exciting and so much fun.

Sapphire....your baby is really an amazing source of motivation. My eyes definitely welled up when I read about that being one of your motivations. That is so sweet. Obviously toughness runs in the family so I am pulling for you!

Tricia....I definitely know what you mean about the body rejecting certain things once you start eating more "cleanly". I find that my body even gets to the point of no longer craving certain things (like refined sugar, "bad" carbs, "bad" fats) when I've been eating healthily. I'm sorry you didn't feel well, but seriously, that's a really good sign. Way to go! You've obviously been taking very good care of yourself!

Hun.e.B....I can certainly relate to the scale plight. That happened to me last week. But, you just look at that number and say "fine." And know in your heart and mind that you won't have to look at that number for very long! And when you reach your goal can brag about how much you lost! Woo hoo!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Weekends come and go so quick. I do all my running errors on the weekend because I don't have much time during the week.
You Guys Are Not Going To Believe These Turn Of Events
I went to a friends funeral this weekend. He was diving off a clif in Hawaii and hit a coral reef and broke his neck. Very good swimmer, he didn't realize of course that it was shallow there. Very sad and unexpected 39 yrs old. Get this on top of all that, another friend of our family daughter just died on Friday. She was walking in St.louis and collapsed and died. Tashia has been on drugs off and on for a while tho. She got clean again and got married, was doing great. Has a three year old son and 16yr old daughter. She had the daughter at 15yr old. We definitely believe she lapsed and got a hold of some bad drugs. Her funeral is Wednesday. I know your not going to believe me but another friend of mines baby just died 8.5 months old. Cardiac arrest, this one really broke my heart. :( She was a preemie survivor like my daughter and was born 1lb 4oz. She never got to leave the hospital. OKAY sorry for that downer news.:( I just had to get all that.

Brit Great job on the 5lbs. :carrot: Gotta love those grandaparents. There so Sweet aren't they!!

Kandice I thought we couldn't really indulge in milk. And I don't like skim milk at all. But I love 2% milk but have not been drinking any since I started this diet. I can drink a gallon of 2% in 2 days.

Tricia Well tricia its time to get back to the books.:) Good Luck at your new school. Lets us know how your first day went.

Okay if your still reading sorry for the long post. Lol. Did anyone see Fantasia from American Idol show about her life on Lifetime last week? It was really good I watched it twice. Lifetime reported that that was the biggest rating they have ever gotten in there history on television.

im with you im ready for this week u2 good luck on your first day of work, and everyone else thanx for the good tips i need them my 5
1. well during the preg. with my 6 month old i had gestational diabetes and pelvic dislocation (which dr said my size contributed) i was put on bedrest from 7months to birth, and she weighed 9lbs 11oz
2. to be a healthy role model for my girls
3. you guys keep me going
4. to build my self esteem so i can see what my husband sees in me
5. so i can become more active and fit into my clothes in the closet( im still wearing maternity tops)

i have a ? have anyone done pilates i have the old winsor tapes and i watched them the other day and the exercises look close to impossible to do i accidently said out loud i cant do that crap im not flexiable of course my dear old husband heard me and go on my case about being so negative anyways for anyone that kinda heavy are these exercises doable?

Oh my gosh, Sapphire. My heart goes out to you. That is such a horrible turn of events. I don't even know what to say. Hang in there. answer your pilates question....I have done Windsor pilates and I love it. It definitely is hard, but you can modify just about all the exercises and then work towards doing them "hardcore".....and then work your way up to the longer tapes from there. And you will notice results IMMEDIATELY. You feel infinitely more toned after just one session. It helps with flexibility. I have back problems and I find that it has really helped with that...I think mainly because you are strengthening your core. I've found that it even helps with my posture. And even that 20 minute workout feels like quite a workout! Good luck! Let me know if you try it!

melissa- sorry about the scale but now you know and that'll be the last time you'll see that number!

it's just calcium I believe. I don't know I've seen conflicting things about milk. Curves has a milk campaign and then other places I see don't drink milk. I got freaked out a little while ago because my maternal g-grandma broke her hip and my materal grandma has had problems with her back all her life and my dad's mom- has shrunk so much. I started taking Tums just for the calcium. now I take the multivitamin and it has everything in it, but still- something to think about. strong bones, healthy heart!

Liz- that's great- HS cheering picture. When I got down before I think I was even smaller than I was in HS. All I can ever remember is being size 14/16/18 and at 175 I was starting to fit in some 12s. my 10th year reunion will be coming up in 2008 and I would love to go back to it looking good and esp to rub it in a couple of people's faces that called me names. shallow I know, but there has got to be a piece of that in everyone.

Trish- wow, sorry for all the events this weekend! we'll keep your family and friends in our prayers!

question- I was originally going to ask if there were any males but it could be anyone- are there any people in your life that bring you down re: your weight? several of us have spoke a little about this anyways....

mine- not directly, my my father just left my stepmom- well in April this year, after 20 years of marraige (20 years- 8/16/06) because of her obesity. he said he couldn't stand to look at her anymore and had asked her to change and she wouldn't. (I'm not a good judge of weight on a person because I don't think I look 200 lbs but I'd say she's 5'6 and 300 or 325)
While I know that my DH is not my dad, and I'm not as big as my stepmom, and I KNOW my DH would never leave based on that alone, it is a thought that I have in my head sometimes. like I looked GOOD at the wedding and now I'm big again (I was this weight when he met me though) but you know what I mean, I want to take care of myself for him too.... so my answer would be my dad.

Hey ladies,

Guess what! My mom baked an apple pie yesterday and offered me some...and she makes the best apple pie ever, i'm not even joking, its soooo good, and I said NO! well i said no thank you lol but you get my drift! I went up to my room and almost cried cuz i was so happy and then i drank a bottle of water in like a minute to try and not think about the apple pie! Then I went out with a few friends last night and we went to tim hortons (canadian donought shop like krispy cream but not as good.. if you don't know what it is) and they have the BEST iced cappuchino's in the universe and one of the guy's parents came and offered to buy us all one, and I said no also but it was really hard and I was like maybe I should just cheat this once then I thought of my goal and I said no. Then we went to a park which has a river beside it and me and another girl went swimming with our clothes on, it was fun... and then we sat on the beach after and we were really cold lol. Anyways even tho I just started this whole new outlook on life, etc. I will tell you my top 5 motivations...

1) Like someone said before but I can't remember who... to get legs where they don't rub together when i walk cuz I hate that too!:mad:
2) You guys, u guys are awesome and I really doubt that I would be able to keep going if it weren't for you guys!
3) My graduation...I hate pictures and graduation is when there are A LOT of camera's around and I don't wanna be the fat girl in the pic or if I am in the background I don't want ppl asking who's that big girl in the background. And I want to fit into a size 6-10 dress because my friend want to take me dress shopping in Spokane, Washington at David's Bridal (Prom) and I don't want to have to look for a size 18W when we go.
4) The look on some people's faces when I get to be a size 6 and who used to call me names because of my weight.
5) Health... I want to live till at least 95 and my dad's side of the family has a lot of health problems and I don't want the same sorts of health problems when I get to be older. My dad's side has heart problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, cancer and my mom's side has arthritis and cancer. So I don't have that great of genes and I hate needles so I am determind not to get diabetes. I also want to be a healthy young mom and be able to run after my kids and not have to stop every few minutes for a rest.

Heather Way to go on saying no:bravo: .I still have the Skittles on the Fridge I think I will let me girls have them when they get home from school today. It is real hard to Say no all the time But these Ladies are making it easier for me to do that. I knw what youa re saying about Kids at school . I can never remember a day going by that someone didnt tease me in school. My heart goes out to all kids or adults that gets teased Not much fun. Keep up the good work Graduation going to be here before you know it and you will great. I never had one I got married when I was 16 and Never went back to school:(

Kandice I know all about tums I take them for heart burn though. But I was looking threw my diets ( I have Several) I wanted one that let me have dairy most of them dont. I believe that your body needs it It very important to your body.

Liz I have the windsor pilates but I never looked at them I have about 200 Exercise Videos. I have a set of the firm too I jest could never get into them. Any suggestions.

Okay, it officialy sucks. I gained one pound. Not that time of the month either!!!!!! I have been doing everything that I am supposed too. I am at 180 as of this morning. :?:

I was soooooooo busy over the weekend and couldn't stop in to post anything. You guys move at lightning speed. So here it goes on my top 5:

1. My skinny pictures when I was 30 - size 2!!!!:carrot:

2. I don't want the extra chin anymore.

3. Myself, I keep myself motivated and am my own best friend.

4. My husband for loving me.

5. My fat ankles.

And the question about who brings you down about my weight, MY MOTHER! She is skinny, always has been skinny ( I am adopted) I love my family dearly don't get me wrong but they are skinny. They don't know how to be nice about being overweight. They try but it comes out hurting my feelings.

I am doing great today, drinking all my water and I hope everyone else is having a great Monday.

Melissa: Don't worry about the new scale, take it in stride - that means it will all go down from here. Keep your head up! ;)

needhelp27: Great Job at not eating the APPLE PIE. Great Will Power mojo working on your part.

You guys have so many videos and work out tapes. I have got taboe the entire series, pilates, ablaster, buns of steels, and denise austin. I don't have any of this new stuff you girls are talking about. For some reason I feel funny doing those exercises at home by myself. So I go to the gym. I think I'm motivated by people around me doing things, I like to watch sometimes and try to out do them on one of the machines. Is that crazy or what? :?:

kandice There is really nobody that brings me down per say. I think I bring myself down, just because I know I shouldn't be this big. I was a size 6 throughout high school. I was 7/8 when I got married now I'm any where from 16-22 depends on the clothes. That just urks me so much.:mad:

Bonnie -- You are so funny! I can't believe you have over 200 exercise videos! I don't even think I have that many CD's. As far as recommendations, I have to say, I'm probably not the person to consult. I've lived in various apartments since I graduated from college, usually on the 2nd or 3rd floor, so I've refrained from doing anything too high impact out of fear of disturbing/crashing through my neighbors' ceilings. Ha! But, I have done a lot of toning/pilates/yoga videos and of those, Windsor Pilates is the best. Sheesh, I feel like a commercial.

Kandice -- yeah, the HS photo is pretty hilarious. I have to say, I was that annoying blond skinny cheerleader. GRRR! And it's crazy because I look back at that picture and would kill for that body again. But, I also remember how self-conscious I was at that age. It's crazy how your mind works, you know? My ten-year reunion is this year, though I don't think I'm going. It sounds kind of nuts, but the reason I'm not going is due, in part, to my weight. I found myself getting so stressed out about taking weight off by that certain date and decided that it was a really unhealthy attitude. Obviously I want to lose weight, but I also don't want to be crazy about it and put any more pressure than I have to on myself. I figure I'll see everyone at the 15 year reunion and knock them dead with my killer 32 year old bod. Ha!

Bonnie - Those dvds sound really interesting that you can print out all that stuff. Let us know how they pan out for you. So good to have a husband who is so supportive like that. Thats nice of your husband to geet you skittles he was trying to think of you, I know matt doesnt really look at the back for calories either I usually have to remind him to look at the back for me but I thank him for the gesture anyways.
Amanda - I wish my family had a vegetable garden like your mom does. That's great! I really need to kick up a notch with the Aerobics! I have so many of these dvds and I never use them at least I'm walking though.
Trish - congrats on the 3lbs loss. Your doing good and no coolers thats great! You feel good when you resist temptation.
kandice - I cant get enough milk. I love drinking milk but now i traded my 2% milk to lowfat.
Aqua - I can see how that could be frustrating when people say they are going to do things and they dont. As for the husband in the room thing. I really dont feel comfortable excersizing when matt is even in the next room. I dont know why i just feel like hes watching me even if he isnt. weird i know
Heather- you are on the right track, good job making better choices when going out to fast food.
Brat - Congrats on the 5lbs loss thats awesome!
Needhelp - thats awesome. All those temptations and you never caved once! Be proud of yourself!

I dont know who asked the question about "who brings you down about my weight" but I saw lori's post and figured I'd answer it. My nana, (grandma) she trys to help and but hearing it all the time whether good or bad just made me wanna eat and eat and eat but instead now when I get frustrated I go running instead of heading for the sweats. "When you get skinny you'll look just like a model" I'm sorry but I love myself big or small. I personally would rather be skinnier but when people constantly talk about how I need to loose weight or how nice Id look when I get there it irritates me.

Anyways I am at work and I figured Id drop in. I lost 2lbs so I marked it down but my official weigh in is on wednesday. I'll be sure to tell you guys how I did. Hopefully I go down but i really need to get a tape measure i want to get rid of some of these inches!!!

Good afternoon Lovelies.

I was just thinking that one of the things I love most about our group is that when newer people come, the transition is seamless. When I came along, I think you guys were into the second week, and I immediately felt at home. You all are so, so special. I'm really blessed to be a part of this. :grouphug:

Liz - Girl you're literally working your hiney off with all that walking. You're doing such a great job.
I would love to visit Chicago again. I haven't been since I was 10 or 11. That's really ridiculous considering that I only live about 5 hours away. I'm really kicking myself for not having done any traveling over the summer.
I can't wait for you to knock em dead at the reunion! If you really want to stick it to them, pretend like you don't remember their names or who they are. :lol:

Melissa - I'm sorry to hear about the scale. I have a new scale coming this week, so it's possible that we'll find ourselves in the same boat. The scale at the doctor's is always 5 - 7 pounds more too. And that's with my shoes off. *Sigh*.... Damn numbers!
Chin up, Sweetie. That still doesn't negate the success you've had so far.

Sapphire - I'm sorry to hear about all the bad news. Good grief! When it rains it pours. One of cousins died last Friday of AIDS. She was only 6 months older than I. She and I were not close. Honestly, I really can't say I cared for her all that much, but it's really sad when someone dies way before it's time. It's tragic. My heart definitely goes out to you.
It's not strange at all that you prefer to exercise with a group. That's what keeps some people motivated. You should do whatever keeps you motivated and is fun.

Mia - Fear not chicky! You'll be done with those maternity shirts soon enough! We'll have nothing but success stories around here. I really believe we will all reach our goals. Even if I reach mine before some other people, I'm going to stick around to help everyone see this through. And help celebrate the success stories. :cb:

Kandice - I guess I'd have to say that my family, esp my parents, have brought me down in the past. I say the past because I just don't allow them to have that kind of power over me anymore. The last time my father said something rude to me I just told him to mind is own business. Disrespectful, I know. But I've just about had all I'm gonna take. 33 years is long enough.
The problem I'm encountering now (that 3 people have taken notice of my loss) is people trying to discourage me from me goal. They want to tell me what's "good enough". I think I'm at the point where I want to politely let some people know that I have a goal in mind, but I'm going to keep it to myself.

Needhelp - I know what you mean about those Iced Cappuccinos! I have craved those things more than anything else.

Harvey Walden is the drill sargeant on Celebrity Fit Club. He's hilarious! The thing about him is that you either love him or hate him. Personally, I love him, but I can see why other people would feel differently. He's probably partly deranged. :lol: He has a great fitness video though. The quality is a little cheesy, but the work out is good. Well it looks good. I've not done it yet. I've only watched it and I think it will give me the type of challenge I've been wanting.
BTW, who is that beautiful child? Is she your grandbaby?

Aqua and Liz - Angie got on my nerves too. I just knew she'd be like this. I just never dreamed it would be this bad. From an entertainment viewpoint, I love it. That's what makes reality television so great. From the view of a person trying to lose weight, though, she's infuriating. Did you hear that excuse she made for eating the sandwich? She said that she ate it because they had it there at Fit Camp. So what?? She's such a drama queen. I wonder how many more times she's going to threaten to leave before the show is over this season. I agree with you Aqua. What in the world did she think she was coming to? She had to have known that she'd be expected to eat right and exercise. She's nuts. :rolleyes: I love it though!!! :)

Yeah, my husband really is rather sweet to get up with me in the mornings. I've said it many times, but he really is a prince. He does a lot of nice things for me. When we first started going out it used to overwhelm me because I just wasn't used to it. I'm grateful.

Someone asked about Pilates...

It seemed undoable to me at first. Then I bought Leslie Sansone's You Can Do Pilates. It's an instructional / beginner dvd. Now that I've gotten stronger with the exercises, I think I can move on. Definitely not to an advanced one! But I definitely feel strong enough to move on. It took me about 3 or 4 weeks to get to this point. At first even the Leslie Sansone was a challenging. The results are quick though.

N2: Don't worry! You will lose that pound so quick plus a whole bunch more and it will make everything all better. Keep working out and eating right and as some wise ppl here have said, it doesn't matter if you screw up, just get back up and work a little bit harder. Don't beat yourself up for it, its not worth it!

Trish: Thanx, you are sweetie and I don't know if I will be the skinniest but hopefully one of them.

Amanda: We are fighting for our lives but we can do it! We may lose some battles but we are going to win the war!! Do you have an email address I can contact you at?

I have a couple questions for anyone who might be able to give me an answer.
1) I heard it wasn't a good idea to buy an outfit or dress when you are trying to lose weight because it can hinder what you do and if you don't accomplish that goal of fitting the outfit, then its not a good thing. I was thinking maybe in march i would do the dress shopping with my friend so I can get a good selection, but I am not sure if I will be able to buy it then and get it because what if i don't lose all the weight and can't fit into the dress then its like $200.00 down the drain. I am not sure what to do.
2) I have heard and seen horror stories about women who lose all this weight and then they end up with excess fat on their stomaches, legs, arms, etc. But because i'm young and I have elasticity still, would I get abs that I can see or will I have access fat that won't ever leave unless I get a tummy tuck, which I could never afford?
3) What is the best kind of calcium chews? Do they taste good? Would pills be a better way to go? How much do they cost? Can you get them anywhere?

today i already know is not a good day, its been kinda stressfull and i did what i shouldnt have done and snacked my problems away and hubby brought me a coolers light home, but its not too late to do my exercise so im going to at least complete that i messed up on water and food though thank god tomorrow is a new day hope you all had a better day than me

Heather for Question one I think it is a good Idea to have something that you can consider as a goal. Now 200.00 Im not to sure about that it is all up to what you can afford and how determined you are.
Now 2 to me it alll depends on how much you are looking to lose. If it is alot of weight you will probley have some excess skin
No3 You should be able to go to walmart and get them easy. It all depends on what you want to pay and what you will like to take the best.

Amanda I will have to check on the Leslie Pilates I have not seen that one yet. Yes I got rid of the Skittles I split them between the three kids. NO MORE SKITTLES I will have to check HArvey out to see what he is about when does he come on day and time. I will check him out.

Sara Yes I know I love that they have these printables I dont realy know how I would use them but they are neat to have on hand. I write everything down in a notebook. When I bought school supplies I bought me a whole case of notebooks for a little over 2 dollars so I used them .

As for the Question about who brings me down is my Friend I think she does it cause I was losing and she dont. All she does now is Drink. Thank god I live 2400 miles away from her now. ( She still does it over the phone)

Liz Yes I do have that manyTapes my husband gets mad and tells to get rid of some But I wont . Most of them I would not think about doing until I was more fit and trim its hard to do some of these exercise when your heavy . I bught most of them when I worked in Salvation Army no one would buy them so I did. I knowhat you mean about the celing I was their once I always made sure their was no one home when I exercised .

I wanted to share this with all of you tonight. I did my Leslie and I could feel muscles in my Buttocks that I didnt know I had. Then When I was walking tonight I could feel the muscles that I didnt know I had in the Back of my thighs. Man they feel good I feel like i have shrunk some I will remeasure myself on Wednesday to see the final score. Got to go hope everyone is doing great.

I just finished Leslie Sansone's Walk and Jog. When we came home from Rite Aid tonight, I wasn't in the mood for Harvey. Anyway, do you remember me telling you that the Walk and Jog would probably be a good next step for you? I no longer feel that way. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good work out, but you're probably already more advanced than it. I did with with 2 lb weights with no problem. Even though it doesn't call for hand weights.
I'm going to use it as one of my "light" morning work outs. You'd only jog in two minute intervals with it. I'm already jogging in five minute intervals - with my weights - when I do the shadow boxing moves my husband showed me.

Aww, Melissa, sorry about that scale thing. I tell ya, that scale can be a blessing and a curse. I'm trying real hard not to give the scale too much power. It used to be that if it was up, it would ruin my mood and if it was down, I was on cloud nine. But you know that is really giving that scale too much power. Like Aqua said a few days ago, even if the scale doesn't reflect anything just yet, when you are eating healthy and being active, so many other wonderful things are happening. You are keeping a great attitude about it all and that is wonderful! Just hang in there! :)

Bonnie, I do have the WATP Walk Strong. Did the workout come with the stretchie? I already had one from some other workouts. Hope you have fun with those. I have watched Jillian on and I knew that workout was a little too advanced for me right now. I will get there soon.

Today, I did Calorie Killer by the FIRM. I "Assassinated Some Major Calories". It is so funny when she says that. I was surely sweating, but I did the whole workout. I think i am going to focus on FIRM right now.

Now, I am missing my buddies Danielle and Anna. Where are you guys? I miss you.

Oh my god, i worked out with the ladies at the gym tonight. The instructor kept telling me to join them during the beginning stretches. I caved and joined in. i have never worked out with a group before. i liked it, felt bigger than the other girls. The instructor was really nice and it wasn't to fast.

Bonnie you making me want to use one of my workout tapes. You're just a powerhouse right now. You should just make a video! lol. I think I'm going to do my pilates tape first, then taebo.

Good evening lovelies!! its 9:30 and I'm ready for bed already! LOL! DH was tired too, he went an hour ago. My leg has just been killing me lately. I'm gonna have to break down and see a chiropractor I think. I went today and did more shopping with my girls. They are getting closer to being ready for school. I splurged and bought myself a digital camera today. I've been wanting one forever and decided to just do it. Plus I ordered us a new 4'' memory foam mattress pad for our bed and a duvet cover. I got em from overstock and it said I saved almost $600, cant wait to get em! Okay I'm rambling! LOL! I'm determined to get caught up with you all tonight!

Aqua...I so agree with you about CFC, so spoiled some of these celebrities. I remember countess from a few seasons ago who ended up gaining weight over the course of the show and yet still got to win the prizes. that ticked me off. Everyone has excuses, and noone is gonna lose till you check them at the door. Myself included!!

Bonnie...I didnt get to say it before but WAY TO GO with those skittles!!!

Trish...gosh I'm so sorry to hear about all the tragedy that seems to be surrounding your life right now. Makes you want to hug your loved ones and cherish every minute you have, you just never know when its gonna be gone. about the milk, not sure if you have it in your area but its called Skim Delight by Viva. I dont like skim milk either but this stuff is really good. Its more like 2% but its skim. Not sure how they do it. My kids LOVE it too!

Kandice....I'm harder on myself about my weight than anyone else ever could be, but, my grandpa said to me this summer (after not seeing me for several years) "well your a big girl arent you" thats just his way. But my SIL once told me she wished for everyone sake that I stop overeating. Shes a peach!And then shortly after I had my first baby I was like 160ish, my grandma was going around telling people I was as big as a house. That one hurt alot. Guess we all have to have those kinds in our lives.

Heather....I am SO proud of you!!! Way to go saying no to the pie!! AND the coffee!! You are doing so great!!! Keep up the excellent work!! Just so you know, a large (16oz) iced mocha with skim milk and no whipped cream is only 180 calories. A nice little treat and you arent breaking the calorie bank!!

Lori...fluctuations in the scale are normal, and I heard on Oprah once that its a really good sign to even gain a little in the beginning of a weightloss plan. means you are building muscle! Make sure you take your measurements too!! You are doing GREAT!!! Keep it up!

BTW, I just finished Donna Richardson's 30 Days to Firmer Arms and Abs. It's quite a challenge! The aerobics part is challenging because I know it will take me the rest of the week to learn those moves. The abs and arms work outs are fantastic. Especially the abs! Boy do you "feel the burn"!

newpants- did you have a 5 year reunion? we didn't, I definitely want to go to my 10 year HS reunion- 2008 so I should be good by then- but even not, I want to go and finally show that I'm happy. Like to see what everyone did with their lives too. I know a couple of college friends grad from college and they are still working at Filenes or hotels as desk clerks and cashiers!

needhelp- I'll pm you my email. I bought a dress the last time I was losing weight- it's a red sparkly dress (kinda stretchy) I got off forum I think when I was registered for the wedding- but it was only $25. size 10. DH promised he would take me out to a nice dinner and a night out on town- comendy connection or something and I would wear the dress. that was my goal and it was hanging on the outside of my closet and I looked at it everyday. I also had quotes and a 48 inch paper "ruler" to show how many inches I lost from everywhere. I was quite the inspiration. Do you have a pair of pant- jeans you want to fit into? I say don't spend a lot of money because what if you don't get to goal by the time, but it helped me to have something visual.
If you lose it gradual and yes, we're still young- elasticity, you shouldn't notice a difference in your skin. when I lost weight the last time I kinda had "reverse stretchmarks" if it makes sense to you- not noticeable to anyone but me I'm sure. but it was like place where I had stretch marks before- my hips, boobs, it was kinda indented and white. weird. Wasn't anything that kept me away from wearing a bikini or anything. and I wore a bikini on our honeymoon in March 2005 (never had a bikini ever- tankinis yes, but this one was a barely there! DH loved it!)
I'm taking the one a day weight control. it looks like it's got everything you need in it. Like I said before- I was just taking Tums for calcium, they taste fine to me- some people say they're a little chalky.

bonnie- yes she's adorable! only 36! that'll be like me- I was doing the math not too long ago, DS is 13 now- I'm 26, so that means in 7 years- hopefully not sooner I could be a g-ma. that's 33! DH and I are talking about adopting a baby girl and that's what brought it up- well, we have to get doing it soon or else that'll be just too weird! I know we're down south but there has got to be standards! :lol: DH is 33 now so he doesn't want to wait forever either- he thinks he's getting old. probably doesn't help with me making grandpa jokes to him when he snaps and crackles in the AM.

Hey Chicas!!!!!!!! i had my first day of school and i'm scared!!! ive never taken chemistry before and now i'm taking college chemistry!!!!!!! oh well ill get thru it. if i make straight A's this semester and lose weight i get a big prize from my grandparents! its kinda sad having ur grandparents reward you when you 20 but hey, its either do really good in school or take the change of not doing so good and getting a job. Anyways, something strange has happened to me. over the last week or so my appitite is GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! i mean i barely eat and im not really hungry. 2 meals a day (small ones) and i'm good. i dont have cravings, or anything! oh well i'm not complaining. I was going to start Slim in 6 this week but i have to go home this weekend to get my comp fixed. plus i was going to order this 2day fast. its a shake that you mix up and it helps get rid of toxins so you can lose weight more easily. ive been told that it works and its only 20 bucks. Anyways besides that my great grandpa is in the hospital. we are basically waiting for him to pass. he is 93 and its time. anyways i need to get going. i have 2 classes today and i'm a lil nervous. Brittni...I took chem 151 a few semesters back, it was rough, but luckily we had a professor who was all about volunteering and he'd give extra credit whenever we did it. I ended up with almost 100 points in just extra credit. Just stay on top of the lectures and you'll be just fine!! You can do it!! sorry to hear about your grandpa, our grandma is in the hospital too right now she fell and punctured a lung and has a few broken ribs. So sad to see them get old isnt it?

The thing is that I really want to start jogging by the end of September. Maybe that will prepare me. I won't start with the stairs this week because I'm determined to learn all the aerobics moves for that blasted 30 Days to Firmer Arms and Abs by Donna Richardson. :mad: It's so complicated! Kandice....we had sort of an informal 5 year reunion that was kind of a nightmare for me. I was in the middle of law school, was extremely unhappy, was overweight, and had a really bad haircut. Ha! So, I basically sat in a corner with my best friend and got entirely too tipsy. But, you live and you learn. That's another part of the reason I'm not too keen on the idea of going to my 10 year.

Amanda....yeah....I'm walking like a crazy person. As it turns out, it's a lot harder than I anticipated! But, it's so great and it's really wonderful to work towards this huge goal! I really want to learn how to box! I think I need some lessons from you and your hubby!

baby steps help! esp for us that want to lose a lot!

I would volunteer for sept to buy the "winner" to be determined- maybe voted on?- first to reach their goal? an exercise book or tape or whatever they want no more than $15 and to ship it to them. Maybe we could do this each month and someone else could volunteer the prize.

Hi Sapphire - I'm not in school. I'm going back in January. I didn't know I'd mentioned it.... Maybe I did. It's been on mind a lot lately.

I was originally going for elementary education / group science. A few years ago, though, I decided that I didn't really want to teach. I'm still undecided, but I don't want 80+ credits to go to waste. My job will give me tuition reimbursement to get either some type of business or engineering (not gonna happen) degree. So it looks like a business degree it will be! :) I'm still not really sure what I want to do when I grow up. Not as far as my 9 - 5 goes anyway.

Lately I've started writing childrens short stories again. I've been thinking of educating myself on how to have them published. I'm really enjoying it. I had forgotten how much I loved writing. I'm rambling, aren't I. Oops...

The short, more direct answer to your question is I'm not in school right now. I'll probably end up with a business degree though.

should we all have different goals? some water- some stairs- or should it all be the same thing like 5% weight?

I think we should do a 5% of weight challenge. Either that or a minutes exercised challenge. If we do the 5% challenge....the winner is the person who reaches the 5% first. Or if we do a minutes challenge....the winner is the person who reaches a certain number of minutes first.

I like the 5% weight change, I think they should be present and since this will probably be a once a month thing then they can always join the next one. Personally I think everyone should have the same challenge. Thats just my opinion.

There just not enough time in the day when we want it. I came up with a really neat idea for a childrens game, toy, you know. I even had a patent lawyer take a look at the idea, he thought it was great and told me how to proceed with it. Can you believe I haven't done anything with the idea yet. I'm such a procrastinator.

Okay Ladies Kandice, sara, and Iwantnewpants, I don't care which we do. The 5% is fine with me. Is it 5% of the goal weight we set for Sept. or overall? And we should all definitely have the same challenge.

Good Afternoon all, I'm taking the girls to the waterpark this afternoon so I thought I'd better check in now.

As far as the challenge, love the idea! I did a challenge years ago where it was all based on your own statistics (you take your measurements) and whoever lost the biggest percentage of themselves won. We had a weekly checkin to see how we all were doing. and excel spreadsheet would be really easy to set up for that too, I'd be happy to do it! Something to think about rather than making it a race. The exercise minutes is great too, whoever has the most minutes at the end of the month?

I also think you've gotta be enrolled in the challenge by at least the 7th of the month to make it fair for everyone. And then for the reward, we can set up an amazon gift certificate for the winner and then they can pick whatever they want.

I love challenges! This is what I need to get things rolling!

I am going to Edmonton, Alberta to see my brother and step-sis and neice for the long weekend. Good morning ladies it is early here this morning. Full of excitment that the Granddaughter will be here in about 6 hrs. Going to be decoration today its her 1st Bday today.

Wanted to say that I have lost 4 lbs this week and I measured and I have lost about a good 2 inches off of my waist:belly: The BL diet is doing real good I am so full that I dont want to eat or even have the urge to cheat. Not sure what I will be getting done this week the storm is susposed to be rolling in here tomorrow evening they may even cancel school. I dont think that it is going to be as bad as every one is thinking that it is going to be. I guess that when Hugo came threw it scared alot of people and now they dont take any chances. ( I couldnt tell you any things about that thought I was in the hospital having my son.) I was only around for the after effects.

I better be getting these girls ready to catch the bus will check in later if I can.

Sorry I never made it back last night, I had a super full day, and then- I worked out with my husband!!! We didn't plan on it, but I think he was trying to show me up or something. :lol: I treaded, he treaded... I did some weights, he decided to to some weights...

kandices2ndtry- Hi! I wanted to respond to your question about people treating you bad due to weight, sorry so late in response...

Honestly, my husband is being supportive now. But, I have felt his disgust- and seen it in some his family members and a couple of his friends as well. I do not believe he would leave me over it, but he took it awfully personally. Yes, it had an impact on our sex life. His attraction wasn't really there anymore. Thankfully, certain things have happened because of his attitude towards me that made him change his view. Now he likes to see me working out, he tells me all the time now he's proud of me. He's apologized a lot for being a weiner by acting a certain way towards me over something like body fat. I think he had to see my struggle to lose it to understand how deeply rooted emotionally my eating habits were. It's tough. I'm so sorry to hear about that. She must be hurting right now. :(

needhelp27- I'm so proud of you for resisting those treats the other day. It is hard, but the reward will come soon enough. That will also inspire you to turn away certain things. :hug: I love any music while I work out. I am a Bowie fan, he's on all the time around here. I might be an even bigger ABBA fan, and yes I will work out to ABBA... :lol: Have a good time visiting!

n2luvnlife - Hey, it's pound. :hug: No big deal. I hate the scale. DOWN WITH THE HATED SCALE!!!!!! You could have water weight. All you can do is press onward. A lot of people get very defeated by the scale, and then they say screw it, I give up. Don't become a victim of the scale. Do what you gotta do (water, proper diet, excersise) and once a week step on that thing just to show it who's boss. If it insults you with a number, stick your tongue out at it, give it a few choice words, and tell it you meet it next week..... same place....same time..... ;)

Morning everyone! Oh, the struggle I had last night...
I didn't do my evening exercise until about 8:50. I was so tired and I just didn't feel like it. I ended up doing Leslie Sansone's Walk and Jog again though. I also tried a new Pilates for Abs. Whoa mama!! It was intense! So, I guess I'll tussle with it for a few weeks. I didn't exercise this morning. I didn't get to bed until almost 11 and I just wanted to sleep this morning. I'll have to get around to doing Harvey's workout tonight.

Bonnie - Cograts on the pounds and inches you lost! You're on a roll aren't you! I'm glad you found an eating plan that you enjoy. Great job.

It's fun to work out with your husband, isn't it? I was thinking just this morning about how I like doing that on weekends as an alternative to the videos. My husband says he's going to take me to the track when I get my running shoes to help me work on wind sprints. Then I'm going to try and build up to jogging.
I'm glad your husband is on board. Sometimes people just have hang-ups. Until a person deals with his hang-ups he can be difficult. We're all guilty of that. We're all human and therefore, imperfect. He's really making up for it in strides though. :)

I have reached my first 5% goal. I actually exceeded it by 0.5 lbs. I am very excited, as you can see. Unfortunately, typically I lose weight great for the 1st 2 weeks and then the rate of loss drops off dramatically after that. Anyways, out to buy my new sports watch. Yep, I changed it, I have been wanting a new sports watch forever! My new pair of shoes will be my next reward.

I definitely want to get in on the next 5% challenge.

Good Wednesday Morning everyone!! A smokey one at that, a new one must have broken out close by because its awful today. Giving me a headache already so that means we'll be staying inside! I went bike shopping yesterday and think I might have found one. Its white, a cruiser! Still thinking about it. Amany- :hug: Back at ya babe! Yeah, I have some days like that too. The way I deal with it is to make a deal that I don't sleep until I get it done. Usually, I am sooo ready when I wake up, but sometimes the workout was so intense the day before that I slept like a brick. So, I just make myself, just like you made yourself do it. Don't worry, I know Harvey can light a fire under anyone's tail.... lol...

kandices2ndtry- You're on the right track, but excersise is half the process. When you do cardio you inhale oxygen- which in turn will help you burn fat. Whrn you tone (adding weights is especially beneficial for this) your muscles become hot, and I'm telling you, this sizzles your body. You burn a lot of calories that way. Curves would be awesome! :hug:

u2girl- WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! You are doing so good, you are truly an inspiration to me!

sapphire35- That is amazing! You got mine right. I hope I can move it down some tomorrow. :)

Hey ladies, i was going to post last night but i was soooooo tired. I found out i have to give an oral presentation for my tech writing class and i totally freaked out. I am terrified of standing infront of people. Honestly i feel like its judgement day and they are judging whether i'm going to **** or heaven. i shake and its just bad. last time i had a panick attack. anyways besides that things are okay. i'm going to start eating a lil more. i realized i was only eating like 800 cals a day and i know thats not good. Anyways nothing else new. My great grandpa is a lil better. they got him to drink, which is great considering is was comatose just a couple days ago.

I would love to join the challenge. I'm going to start going back to them gym when i get home from this weekend. But seeing as my cousin and her kids are coming ill have a work out just with that!!!

Trish, I think keeping track of everyones weight would be awesome. Its so hard to keep up with people all the time and honestly i usually forget or get peoples weightloss confused.

Liz- Congrats on the weightloss thats awesome!!!!!!

Melissa- Be careful with the fires. We have a burn ban going right now and only a few local ones got a lil crazy. It was kinda scary to watch. For the first time in my life i felt bad for cows and considered letting them out!!! As for the bike, its a great workout. Back when i really didnt workout or more except to go the fridge or bed, i road a bike and i got a good 5-10 miles, and i honestly wanted to do more. Go for it. you'll love it.

Elycia- Congrats!!!! thats awesome!!!!!! go girl!!!!!

Amanda- i know how you feel. its hard sometimes to get up and workout, but sometimes thats your body's way of saying just rest and let me catch up. Sometimes if its not dark just going for a short walk will wake u up a lil and then u wanna work out.

Aqua- Thats so cute u and ur husband worked out together!!!!!!! i think the last time i got to talk to you, you were at the doctor, but its sounds like everything is good now. I'm so happy!

Butterfly- u go with the 2 inches. thats awesome!!! keep it up. your granddaughter is sooooo cute!!! hope you had a great time with her!

Kandice- I was pretty lucky. ive never really been treated bad by anyone. I wasnt really teased in school or anything like that. I think i'm harder on me then anyone else could ever be. When I feel fat its like i tell myself i'm not good enough to be friends with certain people, or that i look stupid going to a club and dancing. So i stay in my apartment alot. For some reason though the past couple of weeks have energized me and i feel like i can accomplish anything i want too. But as for people saying things to me my dad gets to me the most. thats one of the reasons i stay away from him. I remember one summer i came home to texasand i was doing the herbalife diet and i had lost 15-20 pounds (i was living in mexico with my grandparents and we would come home to texas in the summer). I had woken up one morning and he walked in and he looked at me and said to my grandma right infront of me "Mamma she might have lost 15-20 pounds in the front but if you look behind her you can see them." that was the end of the herbalife diet for me, and then end of my relationship with him. the sad part was i was only like 11 years old. but he isnt in my life now and i feel stronger without him.

Anyways i'm going to end this. I know i forgot people but if i didnt stop it was going to take up the whole page!!!!!!!!

Sorry I have been MIA the last few days. Thanks Amanda and Melissa for checking on me. :) Frankly, with the size of our little group & the speed of posting, I didn't think anybody would notice. You guys are posting like wildfire!

I have been doing a workbook for compulsive/binge eating and it has been VERY trying. I hadn't anticipated the emotional toll it would take on me, leaving me physically exhausted by the end of the day as well. I think I am finally getting down to the core of what my issue is with food and hopefully learning some things to do when I feel those urges again. Amazing how much stuff from 20 years ago can affect who you are today regardless of how much you think you've forgiven & forgotten.

I finally did get my book about the GL diet. Interesting to a point, not sure I'm completely sold. His theory is that you don't need to force all the water that is told to everyone to drink. He claims that there is enough water in all the foods we eat that while primarily water should be our main source of liquid, he just thinks we should gauge our "thirst" to be our meter for how much we choose to consume. I am not even halfway thru it yet so still have lots to find out. So far though it's interesting how this works...mainly just staying away from refined carbs, and all breads of all types. I'll let you know. So far tho, I am just enjoying watching my portions and keeping sugar low. I haven't weighed (I'm askeered to! lol) so no idea what I weigh now. I know that my appetite has been big the last few days and no exercise so I know I definitely haven't lost. I'll be happy if I maintained at this point.

Did the BL workout this morning. Good Lord Almighty! It irks me that I have such issues with those lunges and squats! I feel it mostly in my knees instead of where I should either in my thighs, hips or buns! LOL I think I figured it out tho, my core strength is not much. So I am going to concentrate on maybe some pilates or yoga to build that and see if that doesn't help with the other workout. I love the BL workouts, I just wish I was feeling the burn in the right places! :lol:

I am SO in for the challenge for September!! I think it's a brilliant idea girls and something I think that will really keep me motivated. 5% for me is like almost 13 pounds. :eek: but I definitely want to try and get as close to that as I can.

I am SO proud of all the losing that's been going on around here. You guys are absolutely amazing! :cp: :dancer: :cheer: I tell ya, I don't know what I would do if I didn't have all of you everyday. I seriously think I might be depressed and feeling like it's all hopeless. Thanks for everything ladies! ♥

I will try and get to personals later today...I am WAY behind. I wanted to let ya'll know that I'm still alive and doing alright. Hanging in there and determined not to give up, just trying to clean up my "mental messes" once and for all.

Sugar-N-Spice- I missed you!!!! :hug: Wow, that is pretty intense, the workbook you have been working on. I don't believe gauging by your thirst. That is a sign that you need water, so you are already dry. Plus I can say from personal experience that water has improved my skin, and I am sure it helps me with the migraines I get sometimes.

I am up for a challenge too. I didn't catch all the details, but I think something like that will be a huge motivation. :)

Aqua, the deal with the water......this is exactly one reason why I'm on the fence about this guy. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my water. It has so many health benefits that I find it hard for someone (especially a cardiologist) to say that water isn't something to try and get in every single day. Of course, this book was written eons ago, so go firgure...:rolleyes: Water definitely helps with skin and hair IMO. My son's orthodontist also told us that one big reason why he (my son) was probably having jaw pain was that he was dehydrated and to up the water and see what happens. It definitely helped, I was shocked! BTW, thanks for missing me. :hug: I missed being here, but really needed to take a few days and try and regroup.

Britt...I'm glad to hear your grandpa is doing better, you better be eating girl! Your body needs fuel to lose! I have to share a funny little story. My freshman year I took public speaking and had to do 4 speeches...they were ****! My final speech had to be a commemorative. And I did my best friend from highschool, It was very emotional for me and I started totally bawling right there in front of the whole class. But I made it through! And you will too! Everyone else has to do it too, and they arent judging you!

Danielle...there is no way in **** I would miss you not being around! And I think everyone agrees with me on that one! Interesting points on the water, I learned the same about supplements. But, I do agree with Aqua that once you are thirsty you are already on your way to dehydration. You need to be drinking it before that happens. Way to go for getting that workout done! I hope you are feeling better! Hopefully we can find some time to chat one of these days!

Okay, I've gotta run to the printers with these stinking flyers and then I can throw together challenge stuff. I was thinking we should do both % of ourselves but keep track of exercise minutes too in case we need to do tie breaker...what do you think?

:hug: :hug: Danielle!!!! :hug: :hug: I'm so glad to see you! I'm sorry, but I don't think we can let you go on trips anymore. We have to keep you tied your computer all the time. Or make you wear some sort of tracking device. :lol:
It's courageous of you to work through that workbook. That sort of thing can be heavy. But I'm glad you're doing it. That means the rest of us won't have to. :D You can do all the hard work and then diagnose the problems the rest of us have. I think I like that deal very much! :)
I know what you mean about squats and lunges. Especially lunges. Squats got better for me when I improved my form. You're to pretend like you're about to sit down then changed your mind. Then you push back up with your heels. Lunges just stopped hurting so bad. I can't really pinpoint what made them better. Could be the Pilates, my legs now being stronger or the weight loss. I do know that the more I exercise, the less painful they are. I think I'll even be ready to try my bellydancing dvds again soon. There's a lot of lunges in the workouts.
Please forgive my ignorance, but what is BL? :dunno:

Kandice - Don't stress over the pound. Fluctuations happen all the time with weight loss. Especially with women.
I understand exactly what you mean about need to have the end in sight. It's good to have a few mini-goals.

Liz - Congrats on the five pounds chicky! And thanks for the new name. ;)

Hi Trish! - I would love to be able to say that I've lost 21 pounds. It's only been 19 though. I changed my stats right away!! :lol: I was so tickled pink that I just couldn't control myself.
I think it would be great to see our numbers every two weeks. It would help to keep us all motivated and remind us of how far we've come.

Aqua - :lol: What you told N2 was so funny! Step on the scale and show it who's boss! :lol:

Britt - I understand completely what you mean about public speaking. I hate it! I remember many times breaking out in cold sweats and getting the "shakies" so bad that it was a distraction.
Thankfully, I've grown a little more confident. It's not quite as bad as it once was, but I'd still rather eat dirt. It does get better though.
I'm glad to hear your great grandfather is getting better. Yes, you do need more than 800 calories a day. If you can't bring yourself to eat a full meal, try 4 - 5 small snacks a day. Spaced out. That will at least keep your metabolism going.

Hi Sara! Yes, you can do it! This challenge is going to be good for a lot of people, I think.

Amanda :wave: BL is Biggest Loser. Bob really has a way with those lunges and squats. Only thing that drives me nutty about this dvd is that no one stays together! 2 are the same, the other 2 are a different way and then there's Bob somewhere in between. LOL I love squats, love feeling that burn. Only thing is that all the dang lunges come before the squats, and by that time, all I can feel is my knees! :lol: I think I really do need to work on my core alot and see what happens. I am going to keep riding the bike too, get my legs and lower back conditioned back to where I used to be. Girl, you are on fire with that weight loss!!! I am so incredibly proud of you. You are definitely working for it tho with all that exercise. GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Melissa, lol, I sorta figured you would notice, only cause we've been glued at the hip for, what, how many years now? ;) Yeah, the water thing is sorta strange to me...cause my understanding was the same, that if you're at the thirsty level then you're already past dehydration. ? This author is a big proponent for low carbing, and had lots of positive things to say about Atkins. His switch for a lower carb plan is to not omit the veggies, fruit or milk, claiming that in fact, these things can only help you lose weight. I only read a few more chapters this morning and that's as far as I got. His only thing he says to stay away from is starch, starch, starch. When you look at it from a g.i./g.l. point of view it definitely makes sense. Letcha know what other tidbits I find out. I do not know how you are balancing school, with pta, with being a mom & wife, and then us and our challenge. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for offering to do the sheet for us Mel! Its very much appreciated!!!!

Sara, you and I are almost in the same boat with the 5%--mine's 12.55. This terrifies me to no end but I'm gonna give it my best shot. You sound like you've got a good workout routine in place, the weight will have no choice but to melt off ya chicky!!!

Brat, I am glad to hear that your g-pa is doing a bit better. I just got word last night that my g-ma is sick and they don't know what's wrong with her. hi everyone wow i missed alot first congrats on everyone's weight loss
i have not been doing so well this week (can someone please kick me in the behind) im doing good with water but i havnt been on my ww plan much this week i just lost track or either didnt eat anything like today my hubby had surgery and i was there with him all morning first i was cranky for having to get up early then i didnt get to eat and when i did it was a sausage biscuit at mcdonalds i felt really disgusted with myself and because im moping around tying to budget a way for me to get turbo jam i havent done any exercise..... i have not weighed any this week because im scared that i gained all of my 4lbs back i really need to snap out of it.....

I wish I could see results already. I think thats what makes me so frustrated early on. That may be why I never really stick to a diet or exercising. You feel better and you can feel the pains, but it takes so long to see the results.

Funny story, My mother-inlaw call yesterday. She was all upset. She has really bad knees and weighs roughly 260 lbs (she is 58yrs old). Well she wanted to go buy a car yesterday and she asked her cousin to take her. He's a lot fun, kinda the life of the party at functions and he's a few years younger than her. He takes her to this car dealer. She goes in to look for a car and its all Trucks, this nut took her to a truck dealer ship. She got reallly pissed and started yelling at him at the dealers. She asked him what the F#%!was she going to do with Truck. He told her he felt she needed one, he was tired of always having to pick her up because her car broke down or come having to come an move some stuff for her. The salesmen were cracking up.

My husband and I was dying laughing. Because This cousin is off the chain. He's wild. He knows she can't even climb in her car let alone a dually.:D

Amany- I do squats every day, and yep- the sitting in the chair and changing you mind- is definately the correct form. When you begin to feel the burn you know it's working. I think form is a big key, but you are so right, the stronger we get the *easier* it is, but it is always going to be hard. It has to be, we have to keep up the challenge. :)

miafluker- Mia! :hug: My scale barely moved!!! 1 pound! I think I am retaining water. That's okay, if this is the case it will move in my next weigh in. I don't care about the scale anyway. My body is changing shape, and I can feel a difference, so it's okay.

sapphire35- I know what you mean. Sometimes I'll be walking and I'll say stuff like, "why can't you just go away?".... (I'm talking to my fat) of course it just sits there and does nothing. lol... It's hard to have to endure the long process, but it will be worth it. I'm staring at my old jeans everyday and I know I fit into them once before- I can do it again!

Hey all. I've been AWOL and it's taking a toll on my eating. :( I worked from 8:30AM to (literally) midnight on Monday, with an hour and a half break to go home, shower, change and eat. Since Saturday I've clocked 42 hours. I still have to work on Friday!!!! I've been living on fast food and pizza.

Today's my day off, though, so I plan on loading up on vegetation - and finally getting some exercise in.

Altari- Wow, you were working a lot. :hug: Well, it happens. My only advice to beat those times (and that was rough!!! ) is to pack your own stuff. I know it's a pain in the butt when you are super busy like that, but I don't know how else to get around it. I used to binge for comfort among other things, so I think if I worked a shift like that it would test me, that's for sure.

today is stair day again- i sweat enough on those it's gotta be doing something and my bum and hamstrings after shoot like little shocks- kinda like when your foot falls asleep and comes back- same type of thing almost. does anyone else have these after exercising?

also when you're walking does anyone elses hands feel tight? like they're swelling up. Asked DH when we went for a walk last night and he said yeah a little but I think he was just saying yes.

DH is on plant shutdown all next week so he'll go on walks with me in the evening. I like it- that's our time to talk and catch up and not sitting in front of the tv or anything.

sorry no personals- I've been way to busy at work. seems like when I get here people want everything! hello! let me check my email and phone first! yesterday I got so frustrated at people. we have a parking garage and I buy "tickets" to validate our members parking- and some of the staff buy them too (from me) I'm the only one that can sign for it. yesterday was payroll day and I have a deadline to get it in to TX by- we're part of a bigger org ClubCorp from Dallas, TX- and this girl was coming in every 15 minutes- have you bought tickets yet- they were for her. fianlly said, I'm doing payroll- do you want to get paid or do you want parking tickets?! ugh! she must have told people because everyone stayed away the rest of the day until payroll was done! LOL!

I'll check back again late today!

I agree with keeping things challenging. It's so good for our muscles, including our hearts. Which, of course, is a muscle too. :) I've been writing a lot about jogging lately. I don't really even know why I want to jog after all these years, but I loved it when I was younger and did it for fun. I loved that "thump, thump, thump" I'd feel in my chest and the way that second wind felt. I guess I'm trading addictions too.

Melissa - I can't wait for you all to start the challenge! It really makes me happy to read about someone losing weight, drinking all their water and losing inches. It keeps me going. I think a lot of people are going to surprise themselves when they find out what they're capable of. This will give everyone an opportunity to rise to the occasion.
Since I'm not going to participate, I'll take side bets with people on who I think will win. j/k :lol:

Yes, I really want a new body bad. That's why Laila Ali is my avatar. If I had to pick someone to motivate me, it would be her. She has the type of body I want. Of course I don't have the luxury of personal trainers and dieticians like her but, when it comes down it, it's still about eating right and exercising right? She still has to do the work, just like me. So maybe I can close in on her a bit. At least that's what I tell myself. :D

Mia - It's really, really important to forgive yourself right away. And not to get too hung up on the numbers. Don't allow yourself to sink into a depression and give up. If you let yourself stay down too long that is exactly what will happen. I know what you mean about being afraid to look at the scale though. Before starting this, I would avoid the scale for weeks and months. Confront it and deal with it head on. Do like Aqua and N2 and show it who's boss!! :mad:

Danielle - I keep hearing that BL is a great workout. I've been hearing about that, T-Tapp, Slim in Six and Turbo Jam. I'm trying so hard to stop buying sooo many videos. My resolve is starting to weaken though.
Isn't it funny how we see something new being advertised, or hear about it, and say, "Oooo.... If only I had that I'd be fit!". Then it just sort of sits there until the next thing gets out attention and we think, "Oooo.... If only I had that I'd be fit!". :lol: I'm glad we're all starting to actually use those videos now.

Yesterday I was too weary to exercise. I've been exhausted for about three weeks and it just wears on me at times. I didn't do anything this morning either, so I must do something sometime today. There's a small golf course behind us for the engineers. They also shoot arrows and play volleyball back there. Isn't that cool? The CEO wants them to spend 10% of their day doing something like that to spark their creativity. We have the cutest and sweetest(with the exception of a few guys) geek squad ever. Anyway, I think I'll take a brisk walk back there today. I may have to run to avoid the arrows!
I'm going straight to the State Fair after work. Morris Day and the Time will be there. I've never seen them perform live and I heard that they were excellent in concert. I so excited. Maybe I'll do The Bird when I get there. :cb:

Hope everyone is having a great morning. It is freezing in VA today! It is rainy and only about 71 degrees. My body is not used to anything under 85 so I am sitting at work freezing today. The men still have the freakin AC on! :dizzy:

Sugar-N-Spice - Sorry you are hurting. But the pain is the best. I love that feeling in my thighs after a good work out. Keep up the good work.

Amanda: I saw Morris Day and the time in Virginia Beach at one of the festivals a couple years ago and they were great.... And do the bird, I did. :carrot:

kandices2ndtry: I hope that the scale is right!!!! I think it is. :carrot: My hands feel tight after walking - especially if it is hot out. I retain alot of water weight and I don't sweat enough. If I drink more water then I don't have the tight hands as much.

Good Thursday morning everyone!!! Is it just me or is this week going slow? Today is my first day that I actually dont have a ton of things to do. I've felt like a chicken with my head cut off all week long. Maybe after classes I just might get some housework done!! Then back at it again tomorrow! All this running around better be burning some serious calories! I forgot to tell you that I made my water goal on Tuesday, but I was just a tad short yesterday. I'll try harder today!! Gotta get that 100oz in!

Aqua...woohoo no kitkats!!! And another pound loss? Did I read that right? Well just in case...YAY!! LOL! You are just so focused I love it!

Altari....goodness you've been working alot!! Hard to eat right when you are doing that, but I think as long as you watch portions you'll be okay. I'm so glad you've got a day off, get some rest girl!! Have a great workout!!

Kandice....I cant comment on the leg tingles because I've got sciatica so mine legs are always cold and numb except the back of my leg and thats a burning pain. But the fingers swelling while walking...YES! I try to keep my elbows bent rather than swinging my arms that helps a little. It goes away for me shortly after walking. I'm pretty sure its normal.

Amanda...I hope you have a wonderful walk today! Your body must be working HARD and thats why youve felt weary. But you keep going like a champ!! Enjoy the fair just avoid the fair food! LOL!! I hope you have a GREAT time doing the bird!

Danielle...I keep tellin ya...its a good pain! LOL!! Bobs kicking your butt for sure!

Lori...I'm thinking about a jacket today myself! Those fall temps are kicking in I think.

Melissa....thanks for setting up the challenge. I'll register all my stats tomorrow! I guess I'll be changing my weigh-in days to Fridays now! Cool stuff. are so focused and it is so awesome....I think I read another pound gone as well. Way to go!!

Altari....I definitely do not envy your work schedule. The ladies are right....try and pack some food for yourself and hang in there! The week is almost over!

Kandice....I know exactly what you are talking about with the hands. My fingers look like little stuffed sausages when I get done with a workout. I find that if I raise my hands to about my head and shake them a la jazz hands, the swelling goes down and that weird feeling is somewhat relieved.'s a little chilly in the Chi as well. And like you, my moron office mates decided that AC is a necessity. Grrr.....or should I say brrrr.

I had a "bad" night last night. I went out to dinner with some girlfriends and we definitely ate a lot and drank a fair amount of wine. But, se la vie. We went to this new restaurant in Chicago....Quartino. It's an italian style restaurant, but they serve small plates, so you order an bunch of things and share. They also had a wine list that was to die for. They have a bunch of wine that you can't find anywhere else outside Italy! So, of course we had to do our share of sampling. I did have a YUMMY asparagus risotto that I DO NOT regret at all! Hahahahahaha! I have to say, I think I did a fairly good job restricting my portions. And I insisted that we order a salad. Thankfully, the two friends I was with are both fairly health/weight conscious, so I don't think I did too much damage! Well.....hopefully not. Ha! I'll have to do a couple extra carrot dances today just to make sure.

(we work at the same place) He called me 5mins ago to tell me We are going to be late! Yes he just woke up! he's not going to be able to pick me up until around 8am its 6:48am here right now. Phew! Just finished working out and I am wiped! :ebike: I did 10 miles on my bike while listening to my iPod and then did a Biggest Loser workout. I love the BL weights portion, he even focuses on the lower back and that is something I need deseperately. I gotta say it felt REALLY good to work the sore muscles today. I kept the tension on my bike pretty high so my legs really had to push thru--my thighs were killing me this a.m.! Once I got that music going I tend to pedal quite fast, so with the extra tension, I'd say I gave myself a pretty good workout. :) Dh tells me he is going to send me to a spinning class because I really can crank it out. LOL Maybe some day...:chin:...

BTW, I also get the weird feeling in my hands, always have. However, I think I may have some arthritis in my hands, they tend to ache alot regardless.

Elycia, glad to be back. I hated being gone from here, I missed everyone terribly. Just felt it best to take care of business and not bring the board down. How's the job?

Aqua, I can certainly relate to the ice cream addiction. I think I could live on the stuff. It is one of the first things I crave, and especially in this heat here, the excuses are many. :rolleyes: Regrouping was necessary, much as I hated being gone from here for a few days. Like I wrote to Elycia, just didnt see any reason to bring the group down with my issues. I do feel stronger every day tho and am determined to fight thru turmoil to reach goal.

Trish :wave: Hope the measuring at the gym went well. Yikes, I need to do it too!!! I can't decide what I hate worse, seeing the numbers on a scale, the numbers on a measuring tape, or the numbers on my clothes! :lol:

Cause these be hard! :workout: I am the queen of the informercial! lol Everytime I see something I want it in terms of workout stuff. When the new Firm system first came out, I just had to have it! That sucker is hard, lemme tell ya! Of course I'm sure it doesn't help that I am so uncoordinated! lol I want Turbo Jam, I love dance music so I think I would like this and it doesnt require dancing around on a piece of large plactic! :lol: No chance for me breaking my neck (or slightly lesser maybe?) or other body parts!

Hello Ladies.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to get to the personals later. I have a bit of a rant...

One of the buyers at my job is crazy. I really think he is. He'll make these really inappropriate comments, and he should know better. He's said things to me that I could get him in a **** of a lot of trouble for. I decided to piss im off instead though. For instance...

One day he made a comment to me that he prefers "dark meat". He said this to me after making a comment about being sick of his wife. I was sort of shocked, so I didn't say anything. I just sort of stared at him. Another time he, after I'd given him a new pager, I tested it for him before he left. So he goes, "Oh this vibrates. I'll have to keep it in my pocket.".
So I said, "Yuck. That's really disgusting Bill.". He seemed to be embarrassed by that and he left.

The last inappropriate comment he made to me was telling me that he'd always wanted to be a porn star. I told him I had no interest in hearing anything like that soon after lunch. And just to keep that to himself next time. That time he seemed kind of angry. So ever since then, he's been somewhat short with me. Not enough to be rude, but a definite change in behavior.

Today a coworker and I were at my desk talking. So he walks up to my desk and makes a comment about us wasting company time. So I said, "What is it that you want Bill *******? (I called him by his first and last name)." He literally threw this envelope on the floor next to me. It's something that I normally prepare for the messenger. I told him that if he wanted that to go out, he would have to pick it up. He said he wasn't going to pick it up and walked away.

So my coworker and I are sitting there kinda stunned. She asked me what I was going to do. I told her that I wasn't going to do anything. As far as I was concerned he never gave it to me. Twice after that he came back to my desk and observed that the envelope was still there and left. One of those times, he came with something else that needed to go out and asked me if he should put it on the floor with the envelope. I told him he could put it where he wanted, but anything on the floor would stay there. So he put the cd he was sending out in my "to go out" box (where it's supposed to go).

Later I did end up sending out what he threw because I knew it was actually for one of the engineers here that I absolutely adore. So I sent it. I made my coworker promise, though, to tell Bill that she sent it out with some of her things if it came up.

About ten minutes ago, he came over to my desk and noticed that my box was empty and asks me if the envelope went out. I told him that it was no longer on the floor but I have no idea what happened to it. I told him that I didn't do anything with it. So then he's shocked and was like, "What do you mean?". I told him that there was no need for me to repeat myself. When I came back from lunch it was gone. Then he asked me what he should do. I told him I didn't know and continue working.

Now, I can't really say that I'm mad, or even frustrated. I'm not amused either though. I guess I'm more in a state of disbelief more than anything. It's extremely difficult to get me riled up and emotional at work. In fact it's only happened one time. I was 19 and it was my 2nd day as a waitress at Big Boy's. Two people had called off and the restaurant got really busy; so my manager had to throw me to the wolves. This guy told me that I was the worst waitress he'd ever had. I cried in the break area. That was the first and last time I was ever emotional at work. That's a good thing too, because I know Bill was trying to ruffle my feathers.

Thanks for letting me rant! Again...

BTW, I walked a mile and a half at work. The IT guy told me that the route he walks is a mile and half. He measured it one day (maybe with a pedometer? :dunno:). So I walked his route. I felt really good afterwards too.

Aw, now that really sticks that a co-worker's gotta go and be a poop. Amanda, I'm sorry that he decided to be a jerk today. :hug: I was harrassed by a manager when I worked for a pizza place when I was 17. He made a super rude comment to me one day and I told him to shut up. I came in the next day and found out that I'd been fired for insubordination. Better believe I went in his office and told him exactly what I thought of him! I had him quaking in his boots tho, when I threatened to sue him. LOL I didn't though cause it was my word against his and all that, just wasn't worth it. I heard he quit not too long after. I got harrassed again when I was 18, working at a record store. He ended up getting fired quick cause there were several of us that reported him. I still don't understand where guys get off thinking that they can talk like this and expect the women to swoon???? Or that it's even okay and appropriate? My husband works in the automotive industry for a while now, and every store he's been in there is always the proverbial "1 girl" working. I don't know how these women do it. :dizzy:

kandices2ndtry- My hands get tight if I walk with them at a low swing to my sides. I now move them more, and I hold hand weights so that fixed it for me. It happens I think if you retain water. Kinda like how the feet swell from standing on them for a certain length of time.

Amany- Hi! :) I think you are doing great too. Makes me wanna "get doggone out there and do somethin'" :D You all inspire me. I need this so much. I can walk good, but I look ridiculous when I try to run. Always have. I have no grace when it comes to running so I don't do it. I tried telling my husband that once before, so he's like "show me" So I ran across the yard and when I made way back he was holding his side laughing. I told him I looked stupid when I try to run.:shrug: Yeah, we all have a couple days of rut once in a while. Remember, 21 days and you got yourself a habit... it's been close to 21 days hasn't it? I am not sure for me, but my body is moving, you know muscle tone is making things go to places they haven't seen in I'm hooked. Treadmill junkie. :)

Sugar-N-Spice- Sounds like someone kicked their own tail! It's a good thing though! I know I got a muscle cramp a few days ago in my side. I didn't even know I had a muscle there. I was walking cockeyed for about 20 minutes! I think there are a lot of us that have an icecream thing. That stuff...sheesh, you don't have to eat hardly any of it, but it is so high in calories that it goes right to the thighs and derrier region. 10 miles is soooo good. :hug: Great job!

n2luvnlife- That's cold? :fr: That's sunny spring day!!! lol...

Hun.e.B- The week seems to be flying to me. Yep, one more pound. :D Badda dun dun dun... another one bites the dust... *looks at rest of fat on belly* Hey! I'm gonna get you too! Another one bites the dust!

I love Chicago. I haven't been there in a while, but I grew up not too far from there and my stepfather took us all the time to see his family. It was great.

Amanda that guy is obnoxious and you shouldnt have to deal with it. Good for you for standing up to him throwing something on the floor for you. Thats rediculous, what are you his dog? I dont think so! And I would go as far as to say he should be reported for sexual harrassment. He's making you feel uncomfortable in your workplace and thats a big no-no! I would say if he keeps it up, report his butt!!

Way to go on that walk!! If for no other reason its a great way to work out that stress!

I think HR has already talked to him once about his comments. After the "porn star" incident, I told my boss what had been happening. She's the HR person for this facility. She asked me how I felt after he said that. I told her I was ticked and offended by it. She said that she was obligated to tell her boss at corporate about it and to let her know if it happened again. Knowing the guy at corporate, he probably did address it.

When I told me boss what happened today, the first thing she asked me was if Bill had said or done anything else. Of course, I know what she was really asking me. I told her he hadn't. She told me to let her know if I have anymore incidents with him.

Oh Amanda.....WOW! What an UBER scumbucket. Grrr. People like that make me SICK! Good for you for sticking to your guns. I hope he's still nervous about that envelope he threw on the floor. What a pig. Oooo....I'm so angry for you!

I had a professor in law school who sexually harrassed me. It was horrifying. He was my professor and he was my boss....I was doing research for him at the time. It was an absolute nightmare. He told me all about his problems with his wife, told me how he preferred white girls, told me he hated his children and felt "trapped" in his family. He was absolutely disgusting. He cornered me one night and drunkenly told me (we were at a law school reception....the whole school/faculty was there) that if I slept with him, he'd find me a job. I was so angry at myself for letting it get to that point. So, I finally talked to Dean of the law school and then met with the Chancellor of the entire university. I was so happy when I came forward because a TON of girls subsequently came out of the woodwork and told of similar experiences they had with him. I'm proud to say that jerkwad is no longer a professor at the University of Illinois.....though I believe he is still teaching somewhere. I actually ran into him in Chicago and almost threw up when I saw him. Needless to say, I walked very quickly away.

The thing that really irked me about that situation though was that I discovered that the school did not have a good sexual harrassment policy. I actually got into an argument with the Chancellor because he was asking me to file a formal complaint. Filing a formal complaint involved an investigation, me testifying under oath, having to hire an attorney.....which I was fine with. I asked him what would happen to the professor......and he told me that the incident would be noted "on his personnel file." It wasn't even going to get him suspended and the notation would never be seen anywhere but U of I. He also told me that I could request an "apology." I was absolutely infuriated. So, I went back to the Dean of the law school and told her and she agreed to help me organize a student forum on sexual harassment. This is how all these other girls ended up coming out of the woodwork. We basically chased him out of the school.

So, as you can see, my patience for these sorts of things is non-existent! Amanda, good for you for talking to your boss! It takes courage to do that! And, I'd brush up on that boxing too! Ha!

Now, (deep breath Liz), on a lighter note....I have noticed that a couple of people (Aqua and someone else....I'm having a spacey brain) have talked about Chicago. I'm always up for visitors! Keep that in mind! It really is a fantastic city!

Morning Everyone.

Thank you for all your support yesterday. I made a decision this thing in the butt (bud? :dunno:) Bill wants to play games with me. I'm simply going to let him know that everytime he says or does something inappropriate, it's going to be trouble for him at work. That I'm going to stay on HR and bug them every single time. As opposed to simply "mentioning" it to my boss. I'm pretty sure I'll have the opportunity to do that soon because, knowing him, he'll find a way to do or say something weird. So I'll let him know that when he comes in my work area, he needs to state his business and leave.
Of course I know it could all blow up in my face. I wouldn't be the first woman, I'm sure, to have the tables turned on her and she ends up without a job. I love my job, but I'm not going to put up with his crap anymore. So if I lose it, then so be it. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I just blow it off. I think one of my major problems is that I'm too mellow at times.
Ok, enough of that!!

Morris Day and the Time are fantastic!!! I had so much fun. Yes, I did The Bird too. :cb: I hate that they didn't sing my favorite song by them (Girl), but I loved the performance and I don't regret going.

You are just awesome Danielle. Doesn't it feel good to know that you've worked those sore muscles? It's like a really intense sense of accomplishment, isn't it? That you didn't just sit out because you were sore. It's better just to dig in and get the exercise done. Your muscles will thank you for working them. That pain will be replaced by strength and leanness ( Is that a word? :?: ) :lol:. If you start going to spinning classes you'll be my hero forever! That would be impressive.

Altari - I hope there is some rest in your future! Aqua is right. The key is preparation.

Hopefully though he will quit it, and it will fade away and it won't be something you have to think about dealing with. No one needs that kind of aggrivation in the work place. That's why certain rules are set up.

The storm is gone and all we got was a whole bunch of rain. Other then that it looks great here. The kids were a little upset because they had to go back to school this morning but sorry for them and great for me. Got so much to do this morning have lots of bills to go pay and things to do. Aqua - Yes that doody face was the first thing I though of this morning. That's why I needed to deal with it. Thinking about him at home is giving him too much of my personal space.
Of course I had thought of exactly what I would tell him and it didn't go that way :rolleyes:. I let him know that I was offended by what he did yesterday and all the other inappropriate comments. He immediately started apologizing and said he was sorry and only meant it as a joke. I told him that I didn't take it that way and when he comes to my desk to state his business and go. (I did get to say that part.).
So, hopefully, it's over with. We'll see. One of the things I think I have pegged right about him is that he's passive-aggressive. So the more direct you are with him, the better it is. He's not been anywhere near my area since this morning, so I hope that is a sign of things to come.
BTW, I've been meaning to congratulate you on your pound. WTG! I know you're working your hiney off, because you haven't put back on a single pound that you lost from the liquid diet. I know that's a really good feeling.

:bravo: Melissa! 2.6 pounds is an excellent way to start September off! Did you do the carrot dance?? :) Way to go chicky. You deserve it.
You're counting down the days til the girls go back? How do they feel about that? :lol:

Sapphire - I actually considered doing what you said you would have done. Calling the engineer. I didn't want to drag a bunch of people into this though and make it a huge office issue. That's what it would have become. The engineer is such a sweetie too. He once played this practical joke on another guy in the office. I was unwittingly dragged into it. Once I found out, I joked with him about how he and those other engineers are supposed to be doing things to make life easier for simpletons like me. Not playing tricks and confusing us. He didn't know I was only joking. So a few days later, I go to my desk and there's a card and a box of these huge cookies from the bakery. He went through the trouble of finding out that cookies are my favorite sweet. Nice guy. I've been trying to find him a wife ever since. :)
I know what you mean about your measurements. I hate having my measurements done, but lately I've been thinking about doing it on my progress pic days once a month. I belong to a fitness center (that I don't use :rolleyes:) and they'll do it there.

Bonnie - I'm glad Ernesto left you unscathed. I'm also glad that, for least part of the day, you won't have to share your house with the kids. :lol: Seriously, though, I'm happy for you.

Bonnie, thanks for sending Ernesto our way. LOL :D All the schools are closed today and we are getting hammered with rain, flooding, etc. And it is soooooooooo chilly out compared to the rest of the summer. Takes me a while to get used to temps. and going from near 90 last week to 61 today is a shock to my system. I wish I was home, curled up on the coach watching movies.

I weighed myself this morning and I am down 1 pound. Not what I wanted, but I will take it. I will do measurements tonight.

Amanda - How unfortunate you are to have had the problem with him! You handeled it wonderfully and hopefully since you told him this morning - hopefully, he will leave you alone or at least watch what he says from this point forward.

Melissa - YOU ROCK. Way to go on the 2.6 pound loss. :carrot:

Amany- I'm glad you got to say basically what you wanted to say. I hope he is not something you have to think about too much anymore. It takes a lot of courage to stand up to someone at work that is doing things like he was. They always try to play it off like it was a "joke" and try to make you feel guilty for their asinine ways. Thks for noticing that, about the liquid loss not coming back. :) I haven't mentioned it I don't think, but I was afraid I would gain some weight back when I came off it- but I didn't. The progress has been slow though since then, but that's okay. I have been feeling a lot better, and Doc was right, a lot of the reason for the heart craziness was because I really shouldn't be doing a liquid diet. I'll take it slow and steady, it's cool.

n2luvnlife- Congrats on that pound!!!! Every ounce we lose is a VICTORY!!!!!!!!

Hello Sweet Girls! I am so ready for the weekend to be here, I'm pooped. lol I would kill for at least an hour of sleeping in tomorrow. It's my b-day so I think I should be entitled, don't you? :D I just finished working out. 55 minutes worth of WATP and the bike. I am now sore in new places today, lol, must be using those lazy muscles of mine! Good thing is my legs don't hurt anymore so I can walk again.

Ugh, so now I did weigh in and measurements. Blech on both accounts!! I think I found your 2 pounds Melissa!!!! LOL Was not happy about that at all this morning. I must've gotten on that scale 10x just to make sure. My eating this past week wasn't all too great, but I didn't think I'd eaten that bad. *sigh* oh well, nothing I can do about that now. Onward and Upward. My measurements are horrid, I cannot wait to change those!

Amanda, I am so glad you got to speak to Mr. Whatzit about his "issues". Hopefully that will be the last of it. I'm glad you enjoyed your concert! Nice way to end your stressful day, huh? I am so anxious for this challenge! I could not wait to get up and measure and weigh this morning. I know, I know...I'm just a big ole dork! :lol: Even tho' I am disappointed in the gain this week & not-so-nice measurements, I know I can (will) change it. Just got rid of AF and with all the exercise...I dunno....nope, no excuses for me. Just have to accept it and try and lose them again this week. I just hate the spinning of wheels effect that I am determined to get out of! I will no longer do the proverbial gain 2/lose1/gain1/lose2 thing anymore. :no: OYE, I tried a cardio pilates dvd that I'd bought eons ago...didnt even have the wrapper off the thing starts and immediately this woman jumps into these leg crunchy things while pulsing your arms....ugggggg, I tried I really did but I just couldn't do it! LOL Shoulda seen me flailing around, definitely a moment for America's Funniest home videos! Needless to say, I stopped that one real quick and just did WATP and the bike instead. I'm sorry but cardiopilates is just gonna have to wait! :dizzy:

Alrighty, so I'm off to the shower since I'm still in my workout clothes. EWWWW. Gonna try and get some housework done today so I don't gotta do any on my birthday tomorrow. Okay ladies, I know those measurements are tough for most of us to see but that is where we are REALLY gonna see the changes. Thats the PROOF that your body is shrinking and getting leaner and toner. God i'm so busy i havent been able to do personals or anything else for that matter. I put in the measurements for our challenege. I've never measured myself before and i was a little shocked.

Last night I was supposed to go walking with my neighbor Mary downstairs, we usually go I tried calling and got no response so I decided to go walking by myself. Matt calls and asks if i'm walking I said yes by myself i cant find mary so a few minutes goes by and he says he just passed mary walking with someone else. i turned the corner to go up the street and i see her walking with another neighbor Jo. So I feel bad not that i had to walk by myself i have my ipod so its not a big deal but if we've been walking together everyday for a month, why didnt she call and let me know. did she not wanna walk with me anymore because shes 30 years older or want to go earlier.

oh well i'll just continue to go by myself from now on. that way i can go earlier. and i can go at a faster pace.

Ouch. :( Well, maybe she has a reasonable explanation she couldn't get to right at the moment, like maybe her friend she was walking with needed to talk to her about something, and it pulled her away. Give her a chance, it would be a shame to lose a walking buddy if it is something that helps you- though- I'm sure if it is something not good, you can and will do this on your own. :hug:

I want to say that I hope all of you that live in Virginia or north carolina that every one is going good.I hope that the storm isnt playing with you too hard.

Things here are going good since I have soo amny people in my house right now I have been staying to plan until Dinner and then I have what everyone else is having. Kinda hard to make Seperate meals for eveyone for all of us So I cook one for everyone and With this being the end of the month things are kinda tight here.

I went to walley world tonight and I see that they have three of Jillians workout DVDs not bad priced. The single one is 9.99 and the 2 Disc is 14.99 so not bad their . I picked up the Leslie Pilates I figuered since everyone raves about it I would give it a shot. Her other videos are pretty simple. I like that. My Granddaughter is going home Monday morning I will be able to get back to doing all my videos and stuff and get back into the System again.

What you said about America's Funniest Home videos was hilarious. The sad thing is that I was thinking, "Pilates and aerobics? Hmmm..." So I found a dvd on Half.Com for $4 and ordered it. :lol:
Those 2 pounds could very well be water retention because of AF. You're doing beautifully, so don't let it discourage you. I just love the way you're really getting into exercise. Your enthusiasm is infectious.

Aqua Our Poet Laureate.... :) That was so cute. That treadmill is certainly doing you good. You're rhyming and everything! :lol: Adding those handweights is really intense. I love knowing that I can exercise with them. Even when I end up drenched. We're gonna be nice and slim!

Melissa - I didnt walk on my lunch hour, but I did Leslie's Walk and Box this morning with the handweights. It's 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. I keep telling myself that I'm going to do something else tonight too, but it's almost 10. So, I think I'm basically lying to myself. :lol: Actually, I will probably still do something. Something short like Tae Bo or the Walk and Jog again. I want to try and tackle those stairs this weekend. BTW, for all my big talk, I still haven't done Harvey's video yet! :lol:

Sara - Try to chalk the neighbor up as just one of those things. Even if she preferred to walk with someone else today, doesn't mean she meant is as a slight to you. Besides, if walking by yourself means you can go at a faster pace, then it's a good thing. When it comes to your health and weight loss, you have to be selfish.
When I get up in the mornings to do my aerobics, my husband usually gets up with me to keep me company. It didn't start out that way though. It started out with him trying to convince me to stay in bed with him. In the evening, he'd try to carry on conversation with me while I was trying to pay attention to my videos. Sometimes I listen. Mostly I don't. My point? I'm doint this for ME. And I told him that. I love spending time with him. I love snuggling next to him early in the morning but, when it's time for me to exercise, I'm gonna do it. I was worried that he'd feel rejected, but I didn't let that stop me. I am a person who wants to lose weight, and I mean to do it!

Bonnie - Congrats to you for being able to stay on plan despite having a bunch of people in your home. Extra people can be a distraction and, like you said, cooking all those different meals can be a hassle. You're a strong, strong lady. You may be going a little off skew at dinner time, but you'll make up for it later. Give that granddaughter of yours a few extra hugs!
I hope you like Leslie Sansone's Pilates. Don't get discouraged if it seems a little hard at first. You get stronger really fast.

Lori - I know what you mean about cooler weather. I have yet to accept that fall is coming. I've lived in Michigan my whole life (except for a year), and I've yet to embrace the winter. I really don't like the cold at all. I think my husband and I are going to leave the state within the next five years. We'll see...

Mia - Sorry Ernesto is giving you such a hard time. Thankfully, you didn't lose your electricity though. Come back to us when you get a moment.

Butterfly50- I'm glad you are sticking to plan. That is great. For me, when I wake up, it is the best feeling to wake up the morning after you had a good day. It motivates me to try for that feeling again the next morning.

Amany- I think the old treadmill deserves at least a poem or limerick, a haiku or'm carrying 5 pounds in each hand now. I just added ankle weights too, and I am considering knocking the speed up by .2 MPH. I might wait a couple of days and do that. It is intense, but I know those are the "walls" we hear about because I thought I was gonna die when I first added the weights, now I can move my arms around easily with them, I barely felt it so I added the ankle weights. You just have do do it in bitty increments so you can break the walls without hurting yourself. You don't even realize how strong you are getting. I can still wear my 16's, but they are loose and fit very differently. My behind is definately changing shape, my legs are firmer. And really, if you make this a life long commitment, your body will be fabulous within a year's time or so. Fabulous by how you feel, but also you can't help but notice good muscle tone.

Hun.e.B- You could fry it (not so healthy) Or, you could make a few loaves of zucchini bread and as a good hearted thing give those away. The "pass it on" thing. Neighbor gave you zucchini, you give other neighbors zucchini bread. (just don't eat it.... :D lol...)

Ack!!!! Girls, all squeaky and giggly!!!! That's what memories are made of though. :)

Hello Ladies... :coffee2:

I didn't realize until just now how tired I am. I don't feel like lifting my finger to do a thing.
I woke up this morning at 5. I figured since I was up, I'd go ahead and get my exercise out the way. I felt ok at first. After being up for about ten minutes though, I got really tired. So I went back to bed and slept until 8. Now I'm just sort of dragging. Some type of exercise will get done today, I just don't know what it will be.
My exercise has been lackluster all week long. I've been doing it, but not the same amount. I guess I just need some time to recharge my batteries. I don't even feel like going to the roller rink today, and I love roller skating. :faint: There are three books I've been wanting to read. I think I'll read them during my days off and just make sure I get at least 30 - 40 minutes of exercise and some Pilates done everyday.

Melissa - I haven't seen BB since the first season it was on. I think I watch 2 episodes of it. From what I understand, it's gotten a heck of a lot spicier since then. I'm surprised at myself for not tuning in because I like dramatic reality television. :)
Oh yes, the sleepovers.... There are three nieces that I used to have over at least one weekend every month. One weekend one of them showed up with a friend who loved to scream. Every five minutes....:mad: Over anything. When they would come over all the time, I think the best part was taking them back home. :lol: They're in high school now. They still show up on occasion and stay overnight.
I cut up raw zucchini and put it in salad. It can also be sauteed. My mom gave me some from her garden. I've been resisting the urge to make zucchini bread. :lol:

Aqua!j - GM Chicky! Five pound weights? Girl, you're really going at it. That's intense! And ankle weights too! You're doing just the most outstanding jog. :bravo: :carrot: :cb: :cp: :tread: I'm so proud of you. Isn't it great when your pants are all sagging off of you? It's like a badge of honor or something. I love those muscles that are forming in my legs too.
I hope that six months from now, we'll all be around still posting and sharing our success stories. And posting pics! I'm excited for all of us.
BTW, thank you for writing about these walls. I needed to read that. I'd been starting to wonder if my fitness goals were realistic. I needed to remember that I'll have to push myself, but in stages. Baby steps. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :hug:

Well, I'm gonna go. I'm about a have a couple of salmon muffins. Yum! I'm going to have to hide my scale. I've formed an addiction. It's down two pounds though! :D 229! This time I won't post it. I'll wait until Friday...

For those of you doing low carb, you may want to try this salmon muffin recipe. It's really good!

12 - 14 oz of canned salmon (or tuna)
2 eggs
1/4 cup of green pepper diced
1/4 cup of onion diced
1/4 - 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 350, mix all the ingredients together well and spoon the mixture into a six muffin pan. Bake for 30 minutes.

Hi Amany! :hug: I have at least one day a week like that, where I am just so tired. Sometimes if I feel like that I will take my body's cue and make it light that day. You never know, maybe that has something to do with our bodies losing fat, building muscle... some kind of a process going on that requires taking it a little easier. Nothing wrong with that. I have to make sure I know how to seperate natural fatigue from my inclination to want to be lazy (sometimes I am lazy I ain't gonna lie). Your body is changing, I think you might be right about the recharging of the batteries.

I'm proud of you too! If it wasn't for you guys egging me on I might still be on the couch thinking my heart was gonna stop. Coming here made me want to push, it made me stop feeling sorry for myself and move. Now I am feeling better. I don't have all that sugar coming into my body, I make my heart pump and don't flip about it, I made my diet a healthier one without trying to take the fast and easy way out (whaich was a big cause of the problem). You all (and my cardiologist) had a lot to do with what made me stop being a fool and put in real effort. I was inspired, now I'm doing it. Six months from now I will be here. Even when I make goal I will be here, it is a part of my lifestyle now- I owe to much to this place to leave. I will post pics for you when I'm done. Absolutely.

Your welcome about the walls. I think it's easy to forget how amazing humans are- and what we are capable of physically achieving.

Good Saturday morning everyone!! I actually got a good nights sleep last night despite 2 extra girls! Woke up this morning and did my measurements...OUCH!! Which btw, just a reminder to fill in those blanks so we can get em put on a spreadsheet! Looks like another beautiful day outside, we need to get out there and enjoy it!

Amanda...BB is definetly my guilty pleasure, I just love it! This season is allstars, its been really fun! Of course I'm sure there are better things I could be doing besides sitting on my butt watching it 3 nights a week! LOL!! I'm sorry your energy is zapped. Thats how I get to feeling after doing about a week of lowcarbing. I dunno why it just drains me and all I ever wanted to do was sleep. And work out...pfft yeah right! But you are still doing it!! Good afternoon ladies , Boy can I tell you that right now Iam soo ticked off right now. You know I love my granddaughter to death and I have enjoyed her being here but!!!!! My step son is about to drive me nuts. Here he is a 23 year old man with a child and a girl friend. He has a job and right now he has made me soo mad . He invited his girl friend and daughter down for almost a week ( With out talking to us first)and Has relied on us to support and handle all the food for them. They didnt even have a thing for the baby to drink I had to go out and buy something for her and eat to might I add. Well I went and picked his check up for him on friday came home gave it to him and he grossed about 850.00 Dollars. He gives her 400 and then goes to walmart and spend 100.00 on baby clothes and all he gives me is 50.00. He has been here for two months and his checks before was all given to his girl friend. Since he has been here we have supplied all the food and gas money and cig money and even some spending money and all he gives me is 50.00 . I dont know Do I sound like a crazed step mother?
It jest makes me mad that he sits here and talkes about them being a family and he has to support his family and they way I see it he is support them and we are supporting him and I for one feel like we are being used to the end of the earth. I can see a mother and father heping his child out and I jest think that this boy is taking it a little too far. I think Iam about used up. Soo need less to say I am a little ticked off right now.
Then if things didnt have to get worst his Uncle ken ken called and said my Dh sister is comming in town and they are having her a bday party and Now I am madder then fire. they expect all of us to come running over and see everyone. I hate some of them they act like they are better then the rest of us and I hate that. It has made me mad they didnt recognise any one elses Bday why should we all bend over and kiss her *** that jest has me all fired up and I am not taking it all to well.
I know you all dont want to hear my problem but I thought I would share they maddness that I have today and I hope things get better before the day is over.

Thanks girls for the birthday wishes! I just woke up, can you believe it?! I am a lazy butt this morning, not sure how I feel about that!. My intention today is to exercise for at least 30 min. Gotta keep racking up those minutes!!!

Amanda, I think you are doing such an amazing job with everything. I hope you enjoy your days off this weekend just doing "me" stuff. Do you feel okay, hon? The whole thing with being real tired is worrisome to me. Could you possibly be anemic? I don't want you getting sick on us lady!

I love BB! Like Melissa, it's a guilty pleasure. But, then again, all the reality stuff is guilty to me! LOL I think I like it more than regular tv for some reason. There is always drama on there, but most of the time I can never remember that it comes out 3x a week so I miss most of it. LOL

Aqua, you are a treading machine girl! Wow 5lb weights too?! Awesome!!!!! I can only imagine that your body is most definitely changing, look at how hard you work it? Pretty soon those 16's will be falling off you and you won't look the same! That's gotta be a fantastic feeling!

Melissa, I'm glad you survived the munchkins last night! Did Maddie leave you some food? LOL That girl, I swear! Bottomless pit. Lets hope she doesn't grow up and end up weighing 500 lbs! Hopefully you get thru your homework in no time so you can enjoy the long weekend!

Doing a check in!

I did get my exercise in. I rode my bike for 35 minutes while I watched a movie. Somehow I think I like listening to my ipod better, makes the time go by quicker for some reason. :shrug: Anyways....

thats me for now. Laying low and being lazy pretty much today. Besides laundry getting done, I think that's about all the excitement for the afternoon. :rolleyes:

Whew! I FINALLY did the Harvey Walden dvd. He's nuts, but it was a good work out. It's the first one that has offered me any type of challenge. Besides Donna Richardson's 30 Days to firmer Abs and Arms. But Donna doesn't compare to Harvey! :drill: I did the beginner circuit ok, but the intermediate circuit was kicking my butt! I barely made it. I don't have no idea what the third circuit even looks like. I have absolutely no idea. Couldn't make it that far. :faint:

Aqua - I have been asking myself that all week! Asking myself if I'm tired or just lazy. I'm hoping these days off will help me. I think they will. I'm glad you're getting so much out of this thread. I know I do! There's no way I'd be doing this well if it were not for the rest of you. No way at all.

Danielle- :hug: You're so sweet! No, I doubt if I'm enemic. I went to the Dr's in July. All they found with my blood work was high cholesterol! :o But if I'm still feeling this drained next week, I'll call for an appointment. This is not really normal for me. Not this bone-weariness.

:hug: Bonnie :hug: - I'm so, so sorry. Yeah, he's a grown man. He's too old to be living off you guys. I'm sorry if I'm crossing the boundaries by saying that. It's just that I believe in a human being's ability to rise to the occasion if given the opportunity. I have a 26 year old brother who still lives with my parents. He just got a job a week ago. He had one when he was 18 or two weeks and another about 2 years ago for 2 or 3 days. That's it!
Don't get me wrong, most of us (my siblings and I), have had to move back in periodically. I've done it twice between leases (a little over a month each time) and once for about 3 or 4 months. But I came with the understanding that I'd be picking up a few of the bills and there was no way my parents were going to give me any money. So needless to say, we're all disgusted with my younger brother. The rest of us were all out of the house by 19 years old.
Maybe you and your husband can gave a discussion and come to some agreement on how your stepson can contribute more to the household. Maybe he needs the same "opportunity" my brother needs. You might even get lucky. He might decide that he's better off just moving out. ;)
I'm sorry about the family stuff. It can be difficult. Especially being around people that treat you bad. I may be overstepping again but, ****, I wouldn't go. Life is too short to put up with that crap. :mad:

I had started eating the yocheese and almonds a couple of weeks ago, so I think my eating is ok. Plus I have at least one big salad with baby spinach every day.
Speaking of reality tv, my husband was looking up some stuff about Delicious from Flavor of Love. We both think she's a man. We ended up finding out that she, Somethin (the girl that poo'd) and a lot of the others are actual porn stars. Not racy pictures. Just flat-out fetishy type of disgusting porn. I won't even type what we found. There were a couple of clips and I just couldn't watch. It was disgusting.

Ok, I have to go. Speaking of weird things, we're going to see Little Richard tonight. :rolleyes: Things I do for love, I tell ya. My husband is one of those people whose personality you'd ever be able to peg by his favorite music. He likes gangsta rap, all of Prince's stuff (he even has all the rare stuff), Little Richard, The Beatles, James Brown, Eric Clapton's old stuff, Led Zepplin, and George Clinton. So it's very interesting around here to say the least.

I am soooooo hooked on flavor of love!!! I don't know if any are men, but they are all NASTY. I'm not sayin' they aren't pretty. A couple are gorgeous. But.... They all are there to get with Flav, right? So this speaks volumes. I think he is very funny and entertaining, but I could never hook up with someone I didn't really know- star or not. They act like they'd go all the way with him just to take an oppertunity. Yuck. I wonder how many women he had been with... *shudders*

By the way, I forgot to share a turkey sausage recipe. It's kinda spicy, but you can use less cayenne pepper:

Turkey Sausage

1lb lean ground turkey
2 tsp sage
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cayenne pepper

Mix it and pan fry with oil spray like Pam.

Then he has the nerve to want four more. I would never procreate with him. Yuck! I owe my children more than that. To inherit his genes!

I think the prettiest one now is the one who's really into him (supposedly). The one that had the corn rows about a week ago. She was all crying because he was spending time with someone else. Her name escapes me at the moment.
Then there was the blond girl he said the show wasn't right for. Those two were the prettiest by far IMO. I don't blame Patience for not accepting the clock and leaving. Who needs that craziness.

I kinda liked her, she was a little crazy, but she was definately not a stupid young woman. I liked her attitude, she never took any crap, played any games- none of it. I'd love to see her come into this household of girls. None of them seem to have the *spark* a few of the girls like New York had last season.

Ladies, ladies, how did you whined up discussing flavor of flav. Wheeeew he is so ugly, how ugly is he? Just UGLY!! :devil: Oh my goodness, he is ugly. Them are some desperate women on that show. And his Momma :D , oh my goodness, she look just like him. lol. Don't get me wrong I'll watch the show but I'll squint the whole time, my face is always frowned up. Especially when he walks in the room. lol.:)

I only got to work out 3 days this week. Not good, But I'm going to do it twice tomorrow. By myself in the morning and then I'll take my nieces to the rec-plex ( kinda like a big YMCA, it has everything: rock-climbing, basketball, gym, track, swimming, iceskating, etc) in the evening. I wasn't exercising twice a day, but with the challenges am going to start doing so. Early Morning and evening.

Amanda, Aqua, & Bonnie: Get ready girls, I'm going to get u. You girls are my challenge, because your doing a lot more than i am right now. Your tolerance levels are higher than mine right now. I haven't complete a video yet. I have done body sculpting class twice tho at the gym in its entirety. And I am only doing about a mile on the treadmill. I want to start jogging on the treadmill next week if nothing but for a minute, then walk, then start back with a jog. Amanda I think we both have the same goal and thats to jog. I use to win a lot awards in track n fields, so this is really bothering me right now.

I don't know why your PM isn't working, maybe you have it set to off and don't even know it. Go to user CP at the upper left of the screen on the purple bar. Go to edit profile, if that doesn't work try some of the other edit options and look to see if there is a spot for Pm's. I'll check my user CP real quick and see if there is something like that....

Okay go to user CP, click on the "edit options" and go down to "private messaging" and click "enable Private Messages" if you would like to recieve private messages from people. If it already has a green check mark in it and you are still not recieving private messages people try to send you, you will need to ask a moderator or someone who runs the show around here if they can fix it for you. I hope it works for you now.
