Hello everyone, I have been looking around the forum and finally found a military spouse group. My husband is active Army and we are stationed at Panama City Beach for dive school. In November we will be moving again to either hawaii or virginia. I am trying to get my weight back down after having 3 kids in 4 years. So I thought military spouses can definetly help me!!!

:welcome: Amy It's always nice to meet another Military Spouse. My hubbs is active Army as well. We're stationed in Las Vegas for another 1 1/2 yrs and then who knows. Are you wanting to go to Hawaii or Virginia? I think my hubbs is going to request Hawaii when we leave here. We always wanted to go there. I'd be more then happy to help you out on loosing weight. It's good to have a buddy system. I believe every little bit helps.
Is anyone here watching The Biggest Loser?? I love the show!!! I'm rooting for them all but I really like the Black Team.

I am into Army Wives as well. I am reading the fanfiction for it at fanfiction dot net, considering writing one myself, etc. Also I am into Biggest Loser but I missed most of the premiere so I'm going to have to get caught up...
Dh leaves in 80 days for mob, and 84 days from that for Iraq. I am hoping to be down at least one pants size before he leaves, and at least one if not two more by the time we join him at Stewart for the deployment ceremony at the tail end of February and his 4 day restricted leave immediately after.

Ahhh...sounds like deployment season - my DH is leaving early December, so I'm trying to gear myself up mentally for that. It'll be round 2 for us, so I know I can make it, but let's face it, no one looks forward to it!! The ONLY benefit is that I lose weight way faster when he's gone.
Amy - where @ in VA would your hubby get stationed? We are at Ft. Eustis and it's alright - LOTS to do here, and it's definately not as expensive as Hawaii ;) There's still beaches, lots of history, good shopping, and it's really scenic here - keep me posted!
11 pounds to go....ahhhhhh - such dreadgery! I gotta get it off before the holidays! I kinda fell off the WW train for a month while we were on block leave - but now I am back, now if I can only get back into going to the gym - or maybe going jogging with my dog? Oh yeah, and SSGswife, TOTALLY dying for season2 to start of Army wives. DH hates watching it because he picks out allllll the discrepancies, so I kick him out of the room when I watch it ;) Well ladies, keep your chins up!!

We have no idea right now. When I look on a map of installations they are all clustered together. But I have no idea yet. He is becoming an Army diver if that helps. Do you live on post or off post??? I want to live on post for awhile, and I was wondering what housing looks like.

Hi Everyone! This is my first post so I hope i'm doing this right. Well my goal is to loose 80lbs. I started weight watchers but sometimes i just find myself ... not hungry.. but WANTING something i totally shouldn't eat.. anyone have any advice on how to deal with major cravings? Have a good night!
missyb4ever
09-21-2007, 05:41 PM
Alison..when I have cravings for food that is not going to be good for me, I count my age...then I ask myself am I eating because I am stressed, sad, upset, etc. I then think of how many minutes I will have to work out to work off what I'm about to eat. If after all that thinking, I still want it...then I've made a conscious decision to eat it - not one based on emotions. Hope that helps!! Oh yeah, and I drink a glass of water and see if I"m still hungry!

I need some help!! I'm slowly starting to work my way back to being on track, but somewhere on block leave, I fell off the wagon, and I've been struggling to get back on track since!! I think I got into the mindset of "I've lost 28 lbs, I can have a cookie, piece of pizza, food food food" and it's catching upto me now! Any advice on how to get my mind back in weight loss mode/back on track?

Hi ladies! I'm back. :-) Our PCS from overseas went well..but we lived out of suitcases from July until just last weekend! Ugh! But we are all settled into our new duty station again and I am still chugging along with my weight loss efforts. I actually bought a pair of jeans in a size 10 yesterday! I could not believe it!!!

10-07-2007, 08:18 AM
Gremlia - CONGRATS! I know how i feel when I buy a pair of pants I never fathomed I could fit into!! Glad you are all settled in now, feels good right? Any culture shock coming back to the states from overseas?
...my weight is ACTING like it MAY want to come down...after my spike, it's been slowly but surely getting back to my low, but I obviously still have some weight to lose. With DH deploying soon, I will focus on him for now - and I'm positive that weight, plus probably more, will come off when he leaves. The deployment diet always does the trick! I'm figuring I could probably lose another 20 lbs when DH is gone...time will only tell!

hey all. Checking in from our deployment briefing. Yeck. THey are explaining how to read an LES. For the third time in an hour. Yeah. This meeting wouldn't take 4 hours if they'd quit yitching everything over 3-5 times.

well I survived it at least. If I had to hear "Remember to maintain Op-Sec" one more time, or "DO NOT give your soldier any information that will distract them from the mission" I would have had to scream. Duh. We aren't kindergarteners. I mean I had a horrid, mind scarring violent miscarriage while he was in basic, and instead of telling him I simply told him the positive pg test we'd taken before he left was a false positive. I think I know how to handle myself. Yeesh.
sadly, I did see a few people acting like they just didn't get it :(

Actually yes..some things have been quite a shock coming back to the USA..but slowly we are adjusting again! I really like having the convience of some things again. :-) Overall I just am so happy the PCS is over with because it was awful!

Hello ladies, I have posted here once before but never really got in with this group. I would love to post here occasionally if you don't mind. My hubby just left on deployment last week and I am determine to knock his socks off when he comes home in a year. I have lost 60 pounds since I started this journey but recently with our hectic lives I have put about 15 back on. I am ready to get it back off and reach my goal. Just a bit about myself. I have been married to my soldier for 16 years we have 4 wonderful kids and I have been the FRG coordinator for about 5 years.
Well that sums it up. Hope to get to know all of you.

welcome Robbin! :) I am planning to do the same thing you are, knock dh's socks off when he gets home at the end of his overseas deployment. I was planning to knock his socks off at the end of his PMT this coming Friday, but that's not going to happen :( Oh well. More motivation to get it done before he gets home next Christmas, and before that, to at least make him speechless when the kids and I go to Georgia in February for his deployment ceremony & restricted leave time.

Hi Robbin!!! Welcome to the group, it's slowed down quite a bit since it's conception, but we still make time to check in every now and then. I've been on a downward spiral with DH's upcoming deployment. I've been binging like crazy, eating out of stress and not hunger, and oh lord it's showing. I've gained 5 pounds back, I haven't been to the gym in almost 2 months...I feel bloated and like a blob :( Any advice? It's like I KNOW exactly what I'm doing wrong, but the motivation to stop it - I can't find it!

Welcome Robbin!
So ladies I am finally to the point where I am doing it and processing to join the military myself. Hubby is still AD AF but I am going into the Army National Guard if all goes well soon. :-)
Missy-*hugs* I hope you find your motivation. Do you have any pictures of yourself before you lost weight? Maybe you could take a picture of yourself then and now and put them on the fridge as a reminder of how far you've come. Just a suggestion!

DH left for Georgia yesterday. In a couple months he'll be in Iraq.
In other news, I found the Firm's new Total TransFIRMation system that I've been lusting over for months but couldn't justify the $80 {w/ shipping} for $50 at CVS this a.m. when I went to print the pics from yesterday off my camera.

Hi Everyone,
I'm not new to 3FC but am very new to the whole military experience. It looks like my DBF will be joining, starting out as an officer. It's something that's been in the back of his mind for years, and now he can't find a professional job and needs the benefits, plus with his family's military background it's something he values. But I am so nervous.
Can you guys tell me what to expect???!!!! Like, how long are your men gone in another state, or even overseas? He wants to propose within the next year when he gets the money and gets settled in the Army, so when we move in together I guess we'll be living at or by his base, and then how long is he at that base or having to go somewhere else? I just have no idea how this works. I am a professional in medical publishing and am pretty marketable so I'm not worried about getting a job in a different state, but I'm just so nervous about what life will be like. I already don't like the idea of missing him even for a month or so... or being several states away.
Help!

Hey Everyone! Long time since I've been in here :) see its been pretty quiet around here. I started ww online last week YAY me! We pcs'd to TX and I've just been stressed beyond belief but things are starting to calm down.
Michelle~ usually they are at the duty station they get assigned to for 3 yrs now that will prolly include time with them being deployed as well. My Hubby was stationed in Hawaii since dec 03 and we just pcs'd (change of duty station) in Nov 07 so due to deployments we spent an extra year there. Now the first deployment to afghan he did was just 12 months but this last one to Iraq was 15 months.

05-21-2008, 02:38 PM
I was actually doing really well the first half of deployment - even better than the last 4 deployments together. I guess it just all caught up with me at once. We're over the halfway hump now, so I'm just trying to put all my energy into this weight loss adventure. Plus I'm flying back to my hometown in about a week. Yay! I'm counting on my time there to speed things up dramatically.

*blows dust off and looks around*
Where'd everyone go? Hubby will be home for R & R in 'about' 114 days [unless it gets changed again grr] and home from this deployment in 'about' 169 days and I could use some girl-talk and weight-loss-talk from others who *get it* kwim?
Shopaholic1204
06-28-2008, 04:04 PM
Thats great that your hubby will be coming home on R&R soon!! I wish the Navy did that during deployments, lol. But oh well.
My hubby will be home very soon. I'm excited. He's only been gone on a workup for 2 months..but I still missed him, lol. He's off the ship Aug 12!!! YAY!!!
2fat2jump
06-28-2008, 10:13 PM
I'm still around if that makes a difference. 114 days -yipes! If it were me, I'd probably start doing kegal exercises because after that long of a separation, that's all I could think about. :) Hopefully you're staying busy through this deployment and all that jazz.
mkat321
06-29-2008, 02:12 PM
believe me it's alot of what I think about :) I'm wondering if I will remember how. :)
I'm doing my best to stay busy. It's hard since I'm not working and just had a breast reduction on the 16th so the stuff I would normally do to stay busy like going for a long walk in the heat of the day, going to the gym and pushing myself through kickboxing, step aerobics, etc. isn't allowed.

hey ladies... hope there's room for one more... my bf's in the AF and just told me today that he's being deployed again. We got together just after he came back from his last deployment, so i'm not entirely sure what to expect. Right now i'm in shock.... he only has 6 months left on his enlistment... I thought we were home free.. guess i missed that one, lol.
anyway, advice would be awesome... anything to make the time between now and then better...

welcome!
My husband was stop-lossed eight months before his contract ended to cover the deployment he's currently on. We weren't even given a chance to sign on for a try-1 to cover it or anything. It sux but you push through it and most of the time it all works out for the better. Or so the wives on the military support board I post on keep telling me.

Hey ladiez!
I'm a Canadian, in the process of getting my paperowrk done so I an marry my military man :) Someone had told me about this thread on here which I had never noticed before, so I had to jump in on it!
My fiance is getting prepared to be deployed and since i'm stuck in Canada on and off until my visa work is complete, my stress levels are through the roof! I'm glad that I found some people around that no doubt understand what i'm going through/about to go through and I can wait to continue kicking some butt via this thread with you girls!

Omg..I wish this whole PCS was over already. I'm so stressed out. Only a month left until we're gone, and we haven't done a thing yet!! Dh goes on leave next friday..so hopefully then we'll do something then. Actually..no hopefully..we WILL be doing stuff then!!!

well, somewhere between 38 & 68 days til Dh heads home on R & R. should have army-firm dates by 20 August but we'll see. So I'm kicking my own butt extra hard right now. AF left town yesterday so I allowed myself today to relax and wallow in some mid-deployment sadness but tomorrow is back to my A-game and Monday is back to the gym. Still have to be super careful with chest-related activities of course, but I'm hoping that using the machine assisted weights for upper body work will result in less pain. I'll be going back to personal training in the next couple weeks as well, once I see what he has in store for me that is low-impact for the chest.

I just found out about this board, when I posted to the the introductions page. I am a proud AF wife and while my H is deployed, I am hoping to lose at least a quarter of myself, lol....We just moved to Nebraska from England and what a change. Would love to hear from other wives as well, especially anyone close to my age, which happens to be 40, lol.....

Hey everyone :)
Im new to the whole man being deployed thing. How often do you talk to your husband when he's deployed? It's so hard! He's not even deployed yet ( im canadian and waiting on my k1 visa) he's being deployed soon and it's so hard. I get so worried that the year is so long.... I just dont wanna miss on his life and I dont want him to miss out on mine. He's not a huge phone person and it's hard... ug. I think I need to give some and not expect the world with each phone call.
Anyone have any advice about dealing with a deployed husband? HOw do you do it???
