Hi everyone, I am just getting ready to go back to ww on Thursday. I need to lose about 100#.:o
I had my 2nd child June 2000. And have been gaining pretty steadily since. But most importantly I have two gorgeous little boys. Joe is 5 and Brendan is 14 months. The absolute light of my life. I also have the best hubby in the world. Still finds me sexy and beautiful despite the weight I've gained. Crazy guy!
I need to do this for myself as well as my family. I'm sick of feeling akward and 6 months pregnant all the time!! My biggest problem is my abdomen. It's freakin' huge. Both my kids were 10#. I'm sick of watching from the sidelines while my family swim and bike. I'm only 36, I might as well be 96. I'm so out of shape, sore and tired all the time.
Well I've truly had it:mad:  I have finally reached my limit. I can't take anymore...I am declaring war on my fat. By next summer I will be swimming and biking with my hubby and kids.
My older son will be 6 February 28th 2002, so this will be my half way point. I will have 50# off by then. My younger son will be 2 June 28th 2002, that will be my goal date for 100#.
I am feeling confident. I find it really helps to read the success story threads.
Would anyone like to join me in this venture?? I would love to e-mail and icq for a chat.

Mandy

Hi there. Well I was going to say I'm in the same boat as you, but then visualized it sinking! But anyway, that's my silly sense of humor. Your buddy invitation was a nice challenge for me. I need to get rid of 100 myself, and have not decided how yet. I have no problem with diets, but after a couple of years I find I just get sick and tired of being hungry. I have lost 50 lbs 3 times, but each time gained it back plus 10. That puts me 30 over where I started and 80 over the "ideal weight chart". So needless to say, I need some positive reinforcement because I'm discouraged. My best success was with Nutri-System, but I just can't afford that right now. (I just put in a pool and now I'm broke!!) So, I'd love to hear from you!

Hi how are you up n down??
Nice to hear from you. And yes indeed it sounds like we could sink that boat.LOL:lol:
Why don't you try weight watchers with me? I don't know if you've ever done it, but it is easy and doesn't cost as much as Nutri-system. I have had some success in the past with it. I just need to keep goin' this time. So what do ya think?;)
What about exercise any plans? I plan to start with walking and progress to using my gym membership when I'm feeling a little better about myself. I have a track near my home, 4x around is 1 mile. My plan is to do 2 miles 3x a week to start. And of course some abdo crunches would not go amiss. I plan to do 100 a day.
Would you consider posting your weight and goal weight and the end of your posting? I find this really motivating.

Let me know. And if you would like to chat sometime, that would be nice too.
Ta Ta for now

I started WW today. I did my 8-point breakfast and am so hungry I'm shaking. My friend has a gym at his apartment building and I was planning on going over there to get on the machines and hit the pool. I have a pool, so I can do some water aerobics. I have bad heel spurs, so I can't do a lot of walking. Motivate me! I'm starving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever you do, don't starve yourself. I understand being hungry, I have been on WW for 14 weeks. But find some low or no point foods to eat. Veggies are great and I hear so is the veggie soup. Just be careful. If you are starving yourself then you are not going to stick to the program, you will give up before you know it. I don't want to sound preachy, but just becareful. I have lost 39# so far and I haven't starved myself. The program does work just take it slowly. Eat at the high point of your range if you are hungry.

I started my own plan on 30 April this year and have lost 40lbs so far. I keep to a low fat diet and eat very little red meat but try to keep to chicken or turkey. I eat cereal or porridge with skimmed milk for breakfast and as I fill up on fruit and veg I can honestly say I don't feel hungry. I have lost count of the number of diets I have been on in my life but this has been my most successful. I usually get bored but this time I haven't and when I went a little mad on my daughters birthday I didn't give up like I have done before but just started again the next day. I do think that posting on here helps a lot and I certainly get loads of support. Best of luck to you and keep posting.
My present weight is 239.5 and at the moment the idea of being below 200 sounds wonderful

Hi girls, thanx for posting. So nice to hear from you all. I have not officially started. Thursday is my first day back. So I have nothing to report other than I can't wait to join you.

Up n Down~ don't starve I could not agree more with the others. Eat at your high end. We will do this together. WW is the best;) ;) . Stick with it.

Melissa and cherrycoke~ you guys are doin' great:D :D . You inspire me to do it this time. And I believe slow and easy does the trick.

I gotta go dinner is burning.

Hey ladies,

I just thought I'd jump in here and say hi to some of you. I haven't posted for a couple of weeks and haven't been to meetings either. I've been getting the kids into their new school year rhythm and haven't really been worrying too much about a meeting. I think I'll just try to do this at home for a while and use you guys as my support group. My weight hasn't changed since my last weigh-in so I'll just use my own scale to measure my weight-loss even though I know it is a little off.:p

Mandy, welcome. We all have a lot of weight to lose around here so grab a celery stick and make yourself at home!

Up and down (what's your first name?), it is a little tough to start regulating your eating but you can do it. I find that if I break the #1 dieting rule, I do better. Namely, if I skip breakfast, I do much better point-wise all day. If I'm hungry at 10:00, then I go ahead and eat lunch early. Breakfast foods just don't seem to stay with me as long. That way if I'm hungry late at night I still have my "breakfast points" to fall back on. It's a system that works for me better than eating breakfast.

Melissa, you've lost enough weight so that we can allow you to be preachy if you want! By the way, tell me what you know about that veggie soup. I've heard others talk about it but never got a recipe.

Cherrycoke, it sounds like you've been doing great on your own, congrats. Losing weight is such hard work, you are fabulous! Keep up the good work.

Well, I suppose I'll jump back in tomorrow with my official weigh-in. I think I'm somewhere around 250. I'll update this tomorrow if necessary.

Later,
Ruby

Well, it's just my first day, so hopefully the hunger will go away. I don't eat meat, but am usually less hungry if I have more protein. I had a poached egg and toast for breakfast and was ready to chew on my shoes by 10 am!! Morning is always my hungriest time, so I'll have to do some adjusting of points!
I'm with you Mand! I'm Tarotlady on Yahoo messenger so find me there and I'll give you my icq #

Hi Ladies, I'm just hanging around to see what you all up to. I feel so guilty because I'm not on program yet.:o :o

Up n Down~keep at it. I know I have no right to preach right now, but hang in there. I've always found the first day to be so difficult. I find when I hit the 2 week mark I'm off and running.Personally evening is my most difficult time. So I had read on another thread a few ladies who started their day on dinner and worked toward tomorrows breakfast. That sounds like it might be better for me. I tend to eat less in the a.m. Can you possibly keep busier in the a.m.? Just to try and distract the hunger. I usually go crazy and clean my house while running after my kids. Good luck and maybe we can arrange a time to talk on icq.

Ruby~Hi and thanx for your support. I know what you mean with kids and meetings. I have the same problem. But at this stage I need alot of extra support, so I will be going every week. How much have you lost? It's nice to see we all have around the same to lose. So by next summer we'll be the ones in the bikinis.:D :D

Have a great day gals.

I'm hanging in there. Today was better. I was still starving in the morning, but had so much to do at work that it was lunch time before I knew it. I feel full and still have 9 points left to my day. Did I mention that I don't eat meat? I eat fish, however and some of those soy burgers. (They really stretch out your points and are very filling.) My soy breakfast links are great also--2 of them are just 1 point. I think if I didn't have to leave for work so early, mornings would not be so difficult. I have to eat my breakfast at 5 AM, so 10 AM truly is "lunch time"! It is also hard to find non-meat protein away from home.

Everyone: Thanks for the support!

Mand: What time are you usually online? Have you started the program yet?

up-and-down - I can understand why you are so hungry at 10, if you are up so early. I am glad that you made it to day 2. Instead of doing 3 main meals, would it be better and more filling for you if you did few smaller mini meals? I am finding that when I am home...and closer to the kitchen, that mini meals work better for me. When I'm at work the 3 main plus snacks work for me. If you find that you are running out of food, why not try and make 10 your breakast meal instead? Could a piece of fruit or something hold you until then? Just a suggestion.

I must say that Ia m learning alot about myself while dieting. I am learning what my trigger foods and trigger situations are. This really helps while I am trying to watch what I am eating.

Well, good luck to all and I hope to hear everyone has a good day tomorrow.

Hi all, just running around getting stuff done today. Getting ready for my big day Thursday. I know what I sound like, but I am really mentally preparing myself right now. Thinking positive thoughts
:dizzy: :dizzy:
Melissa~you sound really positive. I think it's great you are learning about yourself thru the process. This will always stay with you. You'll be able to maintain your weight long after you have lost it.;)
Up n Down~what is your first name? My online time varies. Depends on my hubbys schedule and what the kids are up to. But if we make a date I can usually stick to it. And no :o :nono: I haven't started yet. I weigh in on Thursday. And that is when I will begin. Just mentally building as I said earlier:lol:

Anyhoo, have a great OP day girls.

This is indeed a very sad week, we have a 3 minute silence at work at 11:00 am tomorrow and the whole of my building will take part. I hope we can disconnect the phones as they ring constantly and I'm afraid not everyone will acknowledge it.

I am having a good week and hope my scales will reflect this on Saturday

Hi gals, yes indeed my first day:dizzy:
So far I'm doin' ok. But it's still early. :D I walked my son to school this morning. I took him and my 14 month old in the wagon and had my son's knapsack on my back. Man oh man nothing like goin' up hill with 75# worth of children in a wagon. Felt like I was at boot camp.:D But obviously not to bad I lived to tell about it. I happy that I got my exercise in for the day. And starting to drink my water. glub glub glub.... I'm really pyched this time. You would not believe how much inspiration and support I feel posting with you all. I love you all....
Karyl~ how are ya?? Nice to have a name.:D And thanx for the congrats. Right back at ya. I know you've been having a tough time with the hunger thing. But you are defeating it. So keep it up it can only get easier right:^: When do you WI? Keep me updated.
cherrycoke~ good luck at WI.

Tomorrow is "weigh day". I'm optimistic. My feet hurt though and I'm so drained from everything that happened this week. Gee Mand, your exercise program does sound like boot camp!! The best exercise is when it's not just for the exercise, though. Like a good walk to someplace you really want to be. I love rollerblading, but since I got the heel spurs, that's out of the question.

Mavis, Crystal Light counts as water and it's a nice change. Here in Florida, our water tastes horrible, so I always put lemons in mine. It looks better too! I make a nice drink bottle full of orange-pineapple Crystal LIght for morning then my water with lemons in the afternoon. I agree with you--plain water is the pits.

Well, hang in there everyone and may the world be a lighter place as our pounds evaporate into thin air!

Karyl :)

Hey ladies,

I know what you mean about the water thing. We have a water cooler in our house with 5 gallon bottles of spring water. I would NEVER be able to drink as much tap water. Our water here in Louisville, I'm told, is about the best processed water in the country. I grew up on well water so I always had water that didn't taste like anything. I like for my water to be cold and tasteless. When my husband and I were married a year we moved to Orlando for 2 1/2 years. That is definately the smelliest and nastiest tasting water I've ever experienced. It didn't take me long to discover spring water. I love it. It makes getting the water down a little easier.

Karyl, where in Central Florida do you live? We love visiting Orlando, we have 4 kids ages 9 - 3 and visiting Disney World and Universal Orlando. We are planning a vacation next June, we already have our timeshares arranged for June 2nd. We will be at Disney for 4 days and Universal (Hard Rock Hotel) for 2 or 3 days. I have to admit that I love visiting but I was miserably homesick when we lived there in the late '80's. We try to go every other year (at least!).

It's been my TOM for the last few days. I haven't had the motivation or drive to do much of anything this week. Besides, I've been just about fading into a chocolate coma, if you know what I mean! I'll be better this week.

Hope you all have successful weigh-ins this week.

Hey Ruby!
I am indeed in the Orlando area and originally from Massachusetts where I also had good well water. I had the 5-gallon jugs here, but bought a filter system (which does not help!)! I buy my water then refill from the water cooler at work. Which time-share are you going to? I work for Marriott Vacation Club.

I'll be back on tonight. I hope to catch some of you ladies online!!

Karyl,

We lived in the Conway area when we lived there. We lived in what used to be called the Habitat apartments. My husband worked for Martin-Marietta Aerospace and I was an assistant manager at a few of the KFC's in the area. We lived there from 1986 through 1989.

We are staying at Orbit One this time. We have stayed at Vistana a few times. We really like it there. According to the Island One web-site they have a waterpark for their guests and we are really looking forward to that. We bought our timeshare from French Lick on our Honeymoon in 1985. We didn't really start to enjoy it until we moved back here in '89. We love going to Orlando and visiting. I want my kids to grow up and remember all the cool vacations we went on. When I was a kid we hardly went anywhere. I went to Disney when I was 16 with my oldest sister and her family. Other than that I don't have any vacation memories with my family. I'm re-living it through my kids and we are having a blast.

If you're around when we come maybe we can have lunch or something. That would be cool. I got the opportunity to meet someone else on this board last year. Dora and her lovely daughter were traveling around the local area and came over to my house for a couple of hours. (By the way, she is just as sweet as she seems.)

Later,
Ruby

Hello Everyone, How is all going, down I hope.
I weighed this morning and had managed another pound, disappointing but better off than on.
I'm in UK so we don't have Crystal Light, we do have flavoured water but they seem quite high in Caloties and in the low calorie ones I can taste the sweetners. I bought a water purifier but it doesn't seem to help. I can manage to get it down if its ice cold and I squeeze a fresh lemon in it.
We came to Florida in 1995 and loved it, had a fabulous holiday. We spent the whole holiday in Orlando and tried to fit everything in, came back exhausted.
Ruby do you live where they run the Kentucky Derby?

Ruby Ellen
09-15-2001, 07:14 PM
Mavis,

Yes, this is where they run the KY Derby. I attended the Derby once with the "common folks" in the in-field when I was 20 years old. It pretty much is the wild party area, none of the stars or so called beautiful people hang out there. Churchill Downs is about 15 miles from my house.

We have a Derby party at our house every year. It's a big family, neighbor, and family event. My kids love Derby Day as much as Christmas. We rent a big inflatable for the kids (moon bounce), and it's a pot luck thing. We have a little bit of innocent gambling (the $1 blind draw type). It's a really fun day. It is the first Saturday of May so sometimes it even falls on my birthday (May 3rd). C'mon everybody, the party is at my house!

Well, this has been a crazy week for all. Weight wise I have done pretty well. I lost another 3# this week at WI and I was so happy to hear that. I also just got a new job as a permanent substitute for K-4 so that means I need to trade in my larger preschool clothes for some smaller teacher clothes. I was so excited to go shopping. For the first time in a long time I could actually fit into everything that I tried on. I am now a size 22 and it is very very exciting. I really liked trying on the clothes and I felt like I looked good in them too. I also bought a lot of clothes and that felt good.

Have a good night and God Bless America!

Hello All,

I am a new WW member. In my second week. I have read with interest all your posts on this thread. I can relate to most everything I read. I just wanted to take a moment and say "hi".

My name is Karen and I also live in Kentucky, near Cincinnati Ohio. I have at least 100 pounds to lose, possibly more, but I've been overweight so long, if I ever get to 200 I'll be thrilled. My goal this time (yes, I've tried WW in the past) is to lose slowly, and just try to get healthy. I am 45 and since I've hit my 40's my health is suffering.

Hi girls, how are ya'
I'm at work and having a little break. I work in a rather busy intensive care unit in Toronto. And working 12 hours for the last 14 years it's a wonder how I got fat!! I find this is the only place I don't obsess about food constantly. I mean I can go all night 7-7 without food. But of course now that I' m OP I need to eat to lose. The starvation thing makes me fatter:D My body seems to hold on to every tiny fat cell for dear life. And just finishing day 2. Yea:D I know, but for me it's a huge milestone. And to be totally honest I did have 3 extra points both days. I needed them so bad. But not gonna' sweat it. I'm going back to my gym. I need the toning. My body is so flabby. As I lose weight (see how confident I am) I don't want to have my muscles and skin hanging everywhere.

Karen~Hi, and welcome. We pretty much all need to lose about 100#, so you've come to the right place. I tell ya since coming to these boards I've never felt so confident. You feel more accountable some how. So stay with us and we will do this together.:) :)

Karyl~DON'T GIVE UP!!!! Please stay OP. We will have hard times we knew that going into it. But go over your week, be really honest with yourself. Could you have done anything different?? Could you add more water or exercise? I don't mean to sound preachy. But stay with us. We need each other. And we will have our successes to celebrate.:^:

Melissa~3# way to go!!!!:D You deserve a shopping spree. Enjoy!!!

cherrycoke~1# like you say better off than on. I hope I'm as lucky on Thursday. Good goin'

Hey I've been to Florida too. Just didn't want to be left out.

The water thing, what works for me is the instant light ice tea. I never even looked at the calories. OOPS I guess I better huh? But that is how I've been drinking my mine.

Would you ladies be interested in making up a title for ourselves and continuing this little group?? I know I would. Any suggestions?

Hi all! I vote for the group. Once I wake up, I'm sure I'll have some ideas on a name. I think it should somehow reflect our beauty, which we will still have, even when we are thin. (Remember that we always have that, no matter what.)

Mand: I won't give up--this is my first time on WW and I just have to get used to it. I think I'm hungry because there is so much planning of what to eat that we need to think about food all the time. Nutri-system was so easy because you just went to the cabinet and pulled out your meals and snacks. Plus there was so much more to eat in between to get rid of the "hungries"-- yogurt, fruit, graham crackers, etc. Now I'm so stingy with my points because I'm scared to death of running out before dinner!

Well, I'm just going to keep in mind that I can always find the money for NS if I go out of my mind with WW.

So, maybe all you WW pros can give me some tips on making it through the day without hearing the stomach grumble out loud!

Hang in, everyone!

Hi gals,
How's everyone doin'. Well I woke up this afternoon with the beginnings of a cold. Both my kids have it. So it was just a matter of time. I've taken the night off to recoop my strength.
Well not doing to badly. I'm taking in about 35 points a day. I should only be taking 33 as my max. So it may be evident come Thursday WI. But not gonna worry to much. As I see it this is a beginning for me and I'm eating healthier and alot less than I normally do. So if I don't lose a huge amount this week it won't be the end for me. I truly feel better about myself when I'm not swimming in grease and cream. This is the first steps of forming new behaviours and attitudes about food, and that is want is important. The weight will come off. I am going to start back at the gym this week. Gonna go 3x a week and thats it. I'm not training for a triatholon.

Karyl~so good to hear your sounding positive despite what the scales say. I know about the hungries and that is why I'm tending to go a little over each day. But at least I'm not having a complete relapse. I have found some little tricks that are helping me alot. Like sugar free Jello jellies. You can have 3 for 1 point! I love chocolate and I can satisfy my cravings with Skor bars, only 5 points a bar,(regular size bar) And finally frozen cyclones. I don't know it you get them in the US, but it's like sherbert and popsicle. They are delicious and 2 for 3 points. Also for a sweet fix Tootsie pops suckers each for 2 points. Love them and take a long time to eat! Kill some time till your next meal. I hope you stay with WW. I really believe it's a better plan in the long run. As far as maintenance is concerned.

How is everyone else? Any other opinions on our future status? This thread is getting a little long so we better decide soon:dizzy:

Hi girls,I don't mind what you call the thread as long as you let me keep posting, 'cos actually I'm here under false pretences. I'm really 5ft 2, 101lbs !! Why is my nose growing again.
No I'm 5ft in my bare feet and 238.5 lbs but the false pretences bit is that I don't do WW, I do my own low fat diet and at my last doctors weigh in on 9 sept I had lost 40lbs since 30April so can I please still join you.

You in the US are so lucky with the choice of clothes, so much better than we have over here. When we visited I bought so many clothes, I nearly died when my visa bill arrived, think I'm still paying it off

Hi girls, oh man I'm feelin' crappy. This cold is starting to sap all of my energy. And I have not been a very good WW girl. I lost track yesterday but stop counting around 44 points:( I'm completely without energy and motivation right now. Although I have been getting all my water in and did have a 40 minute walk this morning pushing my baby in the stroller. So I suppose all is not lost. I'm still confident I will do it this time. It's going to be a little trickier than I thought. I WI on Thursday and am hoping for some weight loss but honestly at this point as long as I don't gain I'll be satisfied.
