Morning Ladies! :coffee:
Doing this from memory here, so pls forgive me..............
I think it was mostly all about my new bed so I think I can do this for everybody......
Yes our new bed is fabulous! We got a Luxury Firm Mattress, kind of the "Just Right" bed like in the 3 little bears? lol. (except not the baby bears bed for sure! lol) We did get extra side supports in it (we are side sleepers) and had the box spring built up with extra support so it will last us a long time.......
TY all for your support. I think I did good at Mac. Grill too. Infact I haven't even touched the other half of my dinner. Saving it I think. lolll.
Yesterday (Friday) I wasn't as good of a girl, but I know there is always today. lollllllll
Yes I am so happy again yesterday I woke up with NO back pain!!!!! :D
We cannot find two of the kittens, I am guessing someone has taken two of them in, or at least I hope.........
Yes I think its quite a deal my husband has with the owners AND when he went over yesterday (Fri.) the manager said she was going to talk to the owners about putting my husband on retainer!!!!!!!!!! :D I could handle having $200 off a month rent for him doing computer work for them! (not sure if they will retain him for that much but its not like they are paying him out of their pockets, so who knows? Anything off is better than none!) Not like it's far! He can walk to the office! I know they have other locations, but I guess this one is the primary one.
Well its supposed to rain with a chance of thunderstorms today and then its supposed to start cooling off on Sunday - Monday. I hope so...........OHHH speaking of the heat........the office manager of the complex also wants to see our utility bill, she says its too high. Which it is! We have talked to the maintenance man and the utility co. before and they both say its "normal" but we don't think so and neither does the office manager. We pay around $150 - 200 a month on utilities. That is Water, Sewage, Trash, and Electricity. We have a small two bedroom upstairs apt. Now granted we have been having our air on with this heat, but we have never paid this much for utilities in an apt. before! But we figured to move out of this place, we'd be paying more on rent, less on utilities, so it about evens out and now since hub is doing work for the owners, I'd much rather stay here. So maybe they will look into the utility bill.
I know my in-laws pay the same or sometimes less thatn we do and they have a 3 bedroom house and they use their air a lot too.
So we'll see.
Well I'm sorry I didn't do "Individuals" but its hard for me to remember when we start a new thread! lol............................I tried to remember the best I could!!!!!!!!
Have a Great Day!
I'm off to go enjoy my new bed and watch Johnny Depp
08-19-2006, 08:53 AM
Good Saturday morning, ladies,
Robin - my visit with Ruth was lots of fun. She's a sweet lady with a bubbly personality, and was an ideal house guest. YAY :cp: for having a plan that works. Is this something new? Hope you got to sneak out early from work yesterday.
Sassy - aww, I bet the 2 kittens have found a new home. Wow, that would be great, to have your DH on retainer. What was Johnny Depp doing in your bed, lol?? Btw, a couple of years ago, Angie sent the Jaded Ladies a magnet with the same quote that you have in your signature. It's one of my favorites.
Hello to Marti, MaryKate, Angie, Cristina, Norma, Julie, Sue, all other Jaded Ladies, and anyone else reading this.
I'm going to make a pot of chili in a little while, and I need to catch up on some paperwork. The whole house needs dusted, and the bathrooms need cleaned. Plus I want to wash and hang out the sheets, if it doesn't rain.
What're your plans for the day?
08-19-2006, 02:45 PM
Good Morning Chickadee's!!
Not a lot going on this weekend. James wants me to go pick blackberries for jam and pies'. Going to have to find a clean nondusty area to pick them.
Robin--Oh I didn't consider that a rude question at all. Since it's a interesting spelling I wasn't sure if you knew that she was my daughter or maybe a pet or what. It's a french sounding name and it rhymes w/ Dijonaise. Just get rid of "Di" and the "se" and there is her name: Jhanai :D
Sue--You are so inspiring me!! You have a great outlook and it's contagious!! I have a new notebook that I plan on writing out my menu and my workouts in. And I AM going to make a difference on my scale soon. I would LOVE to lose 1lbs a week until Christmas. That would be a total of.....hmmm....don't have my calendar around but enough to see a difference.:) Keep up the great work!
Sassy--Where about's do you live if you don't mind me asking. (And if you don't want to answer, thats ok!) I would love to have a litte rain here. It's been in the 90's still. Beautiful weather, just too hot and muggy. Doesn't do a thing for me to get motivated!! Of coarse, once it starts raining I will be sitting here complaining about all the rain!! (Oregon is just a rainy state)
Jane--James made a pot of chili the other day. And it's so good. But I think 3days of eating only chili.....I need something else!! Been eating 1/2 a cup of chili for lunch everyday. (He makes such a big pot for only the 2 of us) I need to get it in the freezer before it goes bad. So glad that you and Ruth had a great time together!! What a wonderful thing to be able to meet someone from these boards!!
Hello to the rest of you gals out there. Come in and say hi!!
Well I have some house cleaning to do myself. Gotta febreeze the furniture. Love how fresh everything smells once I do that.
Take care and I'll chat later on if I have time!
08-19-2006, 04:51 PM
Hi Ladies!
Jane -- I hope they found good homes, that is what I'm going to keep thinking anyway! :D I ended up watching Johnny on the couch so he didn't get to "Try out" my new bed! lollllllllllllll Yes I love that quote too..........
Marti -- I live in Cincinnati, OH, or close to it. Usually people have heard of it so that is what I refer too...........;) I hear ya. When its hot and muggy, I don't feel up to doing anything either!!!!
Well better go and get ready for work. We have to leave early and drop off our old mattress @ the in-laws.
Have a Great Day!
08-19-2006, 05:58 PM
Marti - my Mary is a big fan of Febreeze, too... I gotta try it! Her house is always so clean, and I don't know how she does it with those 3 kids!
Sassy - well, ok, if you're sure Johnny wasn't overstepping his boundries with a married lady, lol, I guess it's ok. :D
It looks like rain here. We don't need anymore, so I hope it goes somewhere else - up to Sue's, lol. I've been on the computer a lot today to keep myself out of the kitchen. Works, too! I found some very motivating threads and thoughts while surfing around. Our very own challenge thread is best, though.
08-19-2006, 10:52 PM
Marti-This weather is horrible and I can't wait for our nice cooler weather to come back again! It's so hard to be motivated in this kind of weather!:(
08-19-2006, 11:18 PM
Good Evening Ladies!!
I just got back from grocery shopping and was trying to choose wisely. Wanting to make a big impact by the end of the month. I'm aiming for a 3lbs loss! :D
Bought lots of veggies. And some fish and chicken breast. Need to eat clean if possible. Heck...I know it's possible, just gotta do it!:)
Sassy--Cincinnati OH is it? I've never been there. I've been through OH during my travels back east but I don't believe I went through Cincinnati. Hope you have a good work day.
Jane--I'm needing to stay out of the kitchen more myself. I tend to be thinking more and more of food. Meals, what we should have and how to prepare them. Since when has food beena huge part of my thinking???? Time to clean up my scrapbooking area and keep my mind and hands busy. How did the chili turn out?? (<------- did you see that??? thinking about food and it's not even mine!)
Michelle--It's HOT HOT HOT out!!! It's in the high 90's down here! How are you surviving it?? I'm all cooped up in the dark house w/the A/C on. Not the way I want to spend the day. I LOVE the photo of your girls!! Very beautiful!
Ok...I'm off to make a salad and a garden burger. You all have a great night!
08-19-2006, 11:29 PM
Hiya again... Neal's watching an old Columbo show that I already saw, so here I am again.
Michelle - about the game, well, I don't care if the gals want to rearrange the letters. That's what they're doing - changing one and then rearranging them all. But you can do it your way when you post, and just change one without rearranging any. I'll mention in the rules that it's ok to rearrange, so it will be clearer. Btw, I love your avatar! Two beauties!
Marti - I used to eat those garden burgers, and sort of forgot about them! The one I liked best had a pizza, or Italian flavor to it. Basil or something... The chili turned out really good! Usually, I make it a day ahead, but it still tasted good. I used some diced tomatoes, which were yummy.
See ya tomorrow.
08-20-2006, 12:12 AM
Hi ladies, Didn't get a chance to stop in earlier. We met up with 2 of DH's sis' and their DH's this morning. Ate out then went to the new house. When we came home I was going to do some house work, but sat in the recliner and promptly fell asleep. I don't usually do that. After dinner I did get in a 2 mile walk. I didn't over-do much food wise today, just a small piece of cake/pastry, but that was in place of lunch, so not bad. I ordered a veggie omelet, toast and turkey sausage for breakfast and couldn't eat it all. Yay!
Then when dinner rolled around I was happy with a turkey on wheat. Had a banana for my snack...so I know I didn't hit all the veggies and fruit I needed, but tomorrow is veggie soup...so I will have extras. :)
I continue to feel so good...and hope it lasts. Have a Dr. appt. Wed. for my yearly as does DH.
Jane- Speaking of games..didn't I see a new vending game? I was going to see what that was and it was gone. No need to send me your rain. We got a heck of alot of it in the night last night. It was less warm here today, but still humid. I walked at 8 p.m. and my clothes were soaked when I got home.
Marti- Good luck on the eating. If I can do this anyone can...I have so little will power. I just told DH today that my fear is that I won't lose any weight and I feel like I am eating as little as I can. So...I guess that will mean I am still not moving enough!
Sassy- We are very familiar with your area. I even have cousins over there and some neighbors just left here for Cincy. Do you ever go to the riverboat casinos?
Michelle- Hope you get a break with the weather soon. I hate the heat, but I don't like winter much either. Can't we please just have Spring and Fall? :)
Robin- Where are you? and Cristina, I miss you. Hope you are well. Angie- I am starting to get worried about you missy! Norma, Jules, Mary Kate, Alex...did we chase you off?
08-20-2006, 01:34 AM
Sue -- I love the Spring time; it's my favorite season I would love year round!:D
Marti -- Atleast you have AC! There was something wrong with ours shortly after we purchased it, so we took it back and never got another one.:( We are in a townhouse so it gets pretty warm!:(
08-20-2006, 04:12 AM
Hello You Awesome Jaded Ladies:
No I didn't die, I just was feeling depressed and down and I didn't want to be a drag to all you beautiful, perky people. I looked in and read but I didn't post. I hit 10lbs down today but I didn't change my ticker. I want to wait for my Thursday weigh in. I'm still having trouble with sticking with the exercise. I can't seem to get the right mindset. Any ideas?
08-20-2006, 12:30 PM
Good morning, ladies,
Sue - I bet your doctor will be proud of what you're doing for your health. The game was too confusing so I deleted it before it got out of hand. But I have a new thread asking What will you toss when you make goal, so be sure and post on that.
Michelle - yikes, hon, I wish you had an AC in this kind of heat. Is the photo of your DDs? At first I thought one of them was you, but they both look so young. Not that you're OLD, but you know what I mean.
Norma - I left a message for you in the challenge thread. Please don't stay away when you're feeling down. We can help cheer you, and also let you know that we aren't always "up" ourselves. I have days when I'm sad or not feeling well, and coming here always makes me feel better.
Since it's Sunday, the kids and grandkids will be here at some point. I don't have big Sunday dinners every Sunday anymore, but they do still come to visit.
It's humid but breezy outside, so I might get some weeding done. That's a never-ending job in the summer. Do any of you know what lantana is? Mine is growing like crazy, lol, and I love the colors of the blooms.
Have a good one,
08-20-2006, 08:58 PM
Just a quicky....want to say hello while I can. James is messing w/the computer so I have just a quick moment. Plus when he's downloading things......it's slower than dial up and I get SO impatient!!
He needs it now so I better get. If I get a chance, I'll pop back in later.
Hugs to all!!
08-20-2006, 11:27 PM
Hello again gals!
Jane--How was the evening w/the kids and grandkids?? I went to see my sister. She's finally in her home. Beautiful home. But the stress she went through to have it built, I don't think I'd want to go through that at all.
Sue--I've started shrinking my portions. I plan on not only weighing myself, but taking my measurements. I want to see results somewhere! If not on the scale, then the tape. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can make a difference by Christmas. hmmm....maybe give myself a Christmas Challenge.
Norma--I read your post in the challenge thread. You should feel proud of what you're accomplishing! 10lbs is no small thing. If concentrating on food right now is what you need, just continue w/that for now. Exercise can come in later. It's obviously working for you. And if you want to exercise, as Jane said....maybe cut it down to 3days a week. And maybe start out w/only 15mins. those days. No pressures and we're not going to look down on you if you don't get all the days in. Believe me....I've had many weeks and accomplishing anything. We're here for you!! No such thing as sending you to Jaded Ladies Jail......no matter who Jane may know!:D
Michelle--Oh goodness!! You must be sweatin' like crazy!! Are you on the top or bottom?? Oh wait..town house....that's not the same as apartment is it?? I hope you get an A/C soon.
Well I need to get some things done, so I better get going. I started the challenge thread so it's ready for all you gals on the East Coast. I'm still sleeping while you are all up and at them!:D
08-20-2006, 11:45 PM
Hi Marti- Goodness, seems everyone is talking about Christmas lately. I am not ready for that....but then I know it will be here fast. A Christmas challenge might not be a bad thing. I am just hoping to be able to report a few pounds lost to Suzanne the end of the month.
Jane- I hope you got your weeding done. It was breezy here also, but so darn humid. I got shaky when I was walking tonight and don't know if it was the heat/humidity or something else. DH said my sugar might have dipped too low since we ate at 5 and I didn't walk until after 8. Was strange anyway.
Norma- I would love to lose 10 pounds. You are doing so awesome. I agree with Jane and Marti, don't beat yourself up about the exercise. Just do what you can when you can.
Michelle- Beautiful girls!
I got my walk in and didn't do badly with the food today. I did eat a snack after 8, and I usually don't eat that late, but as I said above...I got shaky and lightheaded, so ate a bit. I was still under 1500 calories for the day.
I got my laundry and ironing done today and not much else. I fixed dinner and cleaned up the kitchen, but that is a given. :) Nothing on for tomorrow except house work..ugh!
Happy Monday ladies...
08-21-2006, 01:37 AM
Jane: Thanks for the pep talk. I was feeling bad about not keeping my promise to you all to exercise. I bought a Resistance Tube Kit. I've been working with stretching to get a little more flexible. I hoping this will lead to more exercise. I will try to do the WATP dvd since the grandkids are starting school Monday. BTW, I tried to grow lantana but it burned up in the heat here in Ark. The bees & butterflies love it.
Sue: Be careful with the shaky thing. I have low blood sugar problems and it doesn't take much to pass out. Put a little piece of hard candy in your pocket just in case while you are walking. Better to be safe.
Marti: I hope you get your computer access back soon. We would miss your perky messages.
Michelle: I'm with you on the heat. It was 102 here today. I have AC, but I can't stand going out in this heat. I'd love to see only Spring & Fall too.
To all I missed mentioning: You all have a great day.
08-21-2006, 08:38 AM
Good Morning Ladies! :coffee:
TGIM!!!!!!!! :D Yes you heard me right. Today is my Friday so I am very happy! :) I am now off for 3 days of which the only thing I am doing is laundry, that is it! Last week we were so busy getting prepared for the new bed and all, getting up early and everything, this week is going to be a lot more relaxing, at least if I can help it is!!!!!!!!
The weather today was totally Gorgeous! I wish we could have taken off tonight.............but alas worked had to be done............:comp:
Anyways...........off to the indiv...........
Jane -- Oh no, Mr. Depp was a complete Gentleman and we only had some "tea" with sugar free tea cakes..................;) Even though it was in my new bed........... lollllllll!
Marti -- :high: on the grocery shopping. Too bad you missed Cinci. We have some of the best Chili here.......(seen you mentioned chili to Jane) lol. Only our Chili is different than others.........We make ours with Chocolate and Cinnamon.........Yup you heard me right and we usually put it over Spaghetti and Hot Dogs and now French Fries even.......:) Anyways, you have got to try some, to see what I mean. Most people think Chocolate and Cinnamon in chili????? :p But it is very good! :T
Sue -- I think you did very well on your food........;) Glad someone knows about Cinci. Have you had the chili here?????? I think its something that you have to try to really "understand it". Trying to "explain it" to outsiders is difficult. lol. No I haven't been to the Riverboat Casinos, but our friends have and infact our co-worker's wife works at one........;)
 and :dust: to all who need them!
Have a Wonderful Day!!!!!!!!
08-21-2006, 09:26 AM
Busy weekend - did lots of cleaning - not what I wanted to clean & organize but got lots done anyhow. I always plan to hit the closets & then something else comes up & I don't get to it - frustrating. oh well winter is coming :( so I guess I will have time to do it then. The girls had a swim b-day party on Sat, then off the the MILs for dinner. Sunday we did the cleaning.
Jane... nah the plan isn't new, I have been doing it since March 27th. So I think I am doing pretty good for loosing all this since the end of March. I just change it a bit here & there to keep myself interested and to keep it working (well the nutrionist changes it, I just do it LOL) well that is what I pay her big $$$ for eh?
Marti... I am loving her name! :)
Sassy... no bed pain, the bed's a winner! I think our bed is loosing it but hate to pay all the $$$ for a really good one. I know our 5th wheel bed kills me & I have lots of that memory foam on it so at least it helps.
Sue... I am here :) I just don't get on the computer during the weekend, I am on it all day at work & with everything else at home, I just don't have the umph to get on the computer.
Norma... when you are down is when you really should stop on in! That is what we are hear for, to help each other out, good times & bad! Congrats on the 10LBS!!!!! WHOOHOO that is AWESOME!! :carrot: :carrot:
ok I have to pay my bills & call the bus folks to try to get my dh on her friends bus so I can avoid child care in the morning. Have a super Monday. I am looking forward to Thursday at 11, I am taking off for a long weekend to Muskegon (Lake Michigan).

08-21-2006, 09:40 AM
Glad you got some of your cleaning and organizing done. We did that last week preparing for the new bed........Yes no back pain is great. I hear on not wanting to spend the money for a decent bed, but we got lucky, the in-laws decided that was what they were giving us for our bday, anniversary and Xmas presents and its the best present we ever got! ;)
A yr. ago my husband had his gallbladder taken out, so we knew he would be in bed for at least a day or two, so we went to Wally World (Wal-Mart) and bought a Memory Foam Mattress, it only cost us $170 or something. But it was a pretty nice mattress for that price and it worked until we got our new one..................;)
Have a Good Day Everybody. I should be in bed but I have terrible heartburn for some reason. I took my meds today and have also taken almost every antacid known to man, nothing..............I'm getting worried........Never had heartburn that hasn't gone away before. I may have to end up calling my dr and seeing if I can get in earlier today.....................
08-21-2006, 11:41 AM
Good morning, ladies,
Marti - you know, you may have hit on a good idea, starting a Christmas challenge thread. That would give us 4 months to work on losing x number of pounds. Maybe we should do that next week, instead of the regular one. Want to start a poll and ask the others? I'll go with the flow.....
Sue - Neal did the weeding. He can take the heat so much better than me, and had already started it when I went out. But he can't take the cold at all, and will be wearing sweaters in September. Comes from him doing farm work all of his life, even while he taught. Hey, how's your blood sugar today? I think your DH was probably right.
Norma - you're welcome, sweetie. We had a points challenge going on awhile back, and the only week I made my points was the week I really, really wanted some decorations for my patio, so I did good to get those as a reward. Well, there might have been another week, but not many! We're here for you in good times and bad, just as you would be for us, too.
Sassy - hope your heartburn has gone away. If not, please do call the doc. Uh, if Johnny Depp is ever at my house, I hope he's a rascal, lol!!! Not too much of one, just enough to make me blush. :o Enjoy your days off.
Robin - you have done so well since March! I think it's really cool that you have a nutritionist. So does she advise you what changes you need in your diet? Ah, it's been years and years since I went swimming in Lake Michigan, but not too long since I saw it. And my DD Mary and I are going to Chicago next month, so I'll see it again. Lucky you, to have a long weekend coming up.
Hello to anyone else reading this.
I'm sort of in a hurry to get to town. I want to get to the digital picture machine before there's a line. It was so busy last week that I had to go to Walgreen's, and their prices are higher, and they're on the other side of town.
08-21-2006, 12:38 PM
Good morning. Happy new week to you all! I hope everyone has a good weigh in. I lost 2 pounds. Didn't get into the 160's, but that is my goal for this week. I already walked 2+ miles this morning and ate my oatmeal. The food thing is still going well, and I plan to see it continues.
Nothing except housework to do today. And a list of phone calls to make concerning the gas, phone, lights, etc. Of course I will go to the new house later and see what all has been done. DH is already there.
By the way, after I ate a bit when I came in last night I felt okay. Norma, I liked the suggestion of carrying a hard candy with me when I walk. I go to the Dr. on Wed. and am having blood work, so will make sure all is well. TY all for your care!
Good to see so many here this a.m. I will be back!
08-21-2006, 01:50 PM
Good morning, ladies :)
Sorry I've been missing in action. My sister, brother-in-law, and great-niece (their 6 year old granddaughter) came to visit on the 15th, just left yesterday morning, and it was busy, busy, busy. Wonderful to see them, but kind of stressful, too. Not to mention exhausting! :faint: But I sure had a great visit with my sister...I've missed her so much since they moved out of state.
And I went for an evaluation with the physical therapist on the 16th, and he had me do a bunch of exercises for my shoulder, but it ended up hurting my arm and I wasn't up for any typing the last few days anyway. It was just an eval, and I don't know if they are going to approve any further physical therapy for me, so I guess we'll see.
Too far behind for individuals, but I read through the last thread this morning, sounds like everyone's been so busy! Congrats to all who've lost, all who have stayed OP, all who have made good food choices, all who resisted temptations, all who've stuck w/exercise, and all who've drank their water (I think something on that list covers just about everyone here!) :carrot:
Gotta bring Tim his lunch, so I'll talk to you soon.
Hugs to all  :grouphug:
08-21-2006, 03:18 PM
Here are pictures at Mary's house of her DDs, which Marti asked for:
The twins' first day of preschool for the year. Makenzie is the older and smaller of the two, on the left. Madison is the other one:
Do ya see why I just love to squeeze them and give 'em smooches???
08-21-2006, 03:22 PM
Sue - yay for the 2 pounds down! I got so frustrated when it was time to get all the utilities hooked up at the new house. The phone company was the worst, because we had had some tornado-like winds in this area, and since I wasn't an emergency case, I got put on the back burner. Waaaay back!
MaryKate - glad to see you here, toots! So what did they decide after the evaluation?
Julie - please post with us. :(
08-21-2006, 04:39 PM
I am back after a little break.
Not much going on. Finally heard from Josh...very short converstaion but it was sooo good to hear his voice. I am getting some care packages together for him and his buddies to send once I get an address. I get the boxes from the post office free and it only cost $8.10 no matter the weight which is good. I never realized they could use so much stuff over there though. I just hope no one goes through his stuff and takes any of it. He didn't think I would hear from him for a while...wasn't sure when they were going to be settled in the sandbox. Hoping it's not too long...don't even know if he's there yet either.
JANE...oh my gosh! The girls are adorable and I can't believe how they have grown since the last time I saw a picture of them! And Caylin...I swear I thought I was looking at a younger you! She's so cute with her little glasses.
WTG to all who have lost weight this week! :bravo:
Did someone mention Febreeze and choc. & cinnamon in chili? I am another Febreeze user...just like how it makes everything smell so fresh. I use it on the furniture, the carpet wherever Ernie lays, his bed, and on the beds, mattresses and comforters. But choc & cinnamon in chili...never had that...I do like chili though.
Hi to everyone else! Sorry for not doing individuals...too much to catch up on right now. Will do better tomorrow when I have more time.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
08-21-2006, 05:08 PM
Hello all.. Thought I'd go ahead and jump in with both feet. Had a hard reality check Saturday p.m. when I got on the scale for the first time since July/early August. Back up to 196.6 :( :o But for the first time in a long time I refused to let it get me down and I turned it into a positive. I logged back in here and committed myself to joining a group and getting back to at least 20 minutes of purposeful exercise every day. I can't swear off soda and chocolate. That never works out. I can and have sworn off fast food from now til Christmas. We're putting the money we'd normally spend on McD's into the savings account to pay for Christmas.
Looking forward to getting to know you all. I don't really feel I can comment on your individual posts til I get to know you a bit better, so please don't take it personally...
08-21-2006, 05:42 PM
Just getting accustomed to the board. I've got some pretty basic goals right now. I've been eating pretty unhealthy the past couple of weeks. It really bummed me out this weekend, but life goes on, so do I. I'm going to setup my own journal elsewhere, to help keep me in line. See, my goal today? Setup a cute little weight tracker! lol
Last week, I had to unexpectedly walk 2 miles in the hot, sticky, GA heat. Thought I was going to die! So, I've got to get exercising.
08-21-2006, 09:15 PM
Sassy - thank you soooo much for the hilarious card! Even Neal laughed when he read it. That just made my day!
Cristina - glad to see you back here. Wow, it's great that you can send whatever you want to Josh for one rate. Thanks for the kind words about my DGDs. Everyone says Caylin looks just like me! We always thought she looks like Dale's side of the family, but so many people say now that she looks like me, so it must be true.
mkat - yay for you jumping in with both feet! We're glad to see you here. I think you'll like it. Wow, that's a good idea - saving all the money you'll have by not buying fast food. We're looking forward to knowing you, too. :)
Ifonly - sounds like you got a good plan in place, and that's half the battle. Come here as often as you want to stay motivated. So glad you've joined us. :)
A reminder to any of you who may want to jump in on the challenge thread, too, it isn't too late to join for the week! Just pop on over to the Week 5 Accountable thread and join in.
Neal brought home a new treadmill for me, and I'll be going in to try it out shortly. :cp: It's right in front of a big TV, where the gazelle was, so I'm good to go.
Catch ya later,
08-21-2006, 09:28 PM
Jane - You're so lucky to have that treadmill. I'm saving up for a bike or treadmill myself.
08-21-2006, 11:39 PM
Jane...they are so adorable! Wah! I want my DGD to be little again. Teenagers don't have as much time for grandma. :) Hope you like the treadmill. I could never find a good place in the house for mine and would rather walk outside. (doesn't help in bad weather though)
Cristina...Good to see you again. That is neat about the box of goodies. What all can you send? I wonder how long it takes for him to get a box over there.
Katiecat...I hope you get good news about your evaluation, maybe more therapy. It is obvious that you aren't back to 100% and I hope you get there soon. So great that you got to spend time with your sister and family.
mkat and ifonly...Welcome. I am looking forward to getting to know you both. It sounds like you each have a plan and I hope we can offer you encouragement as you meet your goals.
I managed to walk again tonight which was another 2+ miles. It is cooling off in the evening, which makes the walk so much more pleasant. I also got in 2 ten minute exercise sessions earlier today. (WATP moves)
I made the orange shake that I mentioned previously. The flavor was good even though it was not very orange in color. I didn't put pineapple in mine, but really enjoyed it. DH did not like it at all, but he eats "the real" ice cream and doesn't care for yogurt. He expected it to be smooth and it wasn't...kind of grainy. Heck, I didn't care, it was cold and tasty...plus fat free. I will have to be careful or it could become a habit.
New house: Yard is being graded, trim is being finished, cabinets are in, (no countertops yet) the outside dormers are sided and painted, the sidewalk is formed but not concreted yet. Lots of little finish work to do yet. Almost there! :carrot:
I called today to get the gas on and to get an estimate from a moving co. Now I have to call a consignment auction to find out about selling some of our furniture.
Hope you all had a great day and I will "see" you tomorrow.
08-21-2006, 11:41 PM
I still have heartburn. It went away for a bit. I have only slept a few hours or so, if that..........I slept too late to make it to my drs appt. There was no way I would have made it and my appt was towards the end of the day so no way I could have asked them to stay late.........If it continues I will go to the Urgent Care or ER.
I am going to eat something (haven't eaten anything all day) and then watch some tv and then try to get some rest.........I've tried multiple times to lie down and sleep but so far, I haven't had much luck.
Jane -- Glad you liked the card. I read that and laughed and laughed and knew exactly who I was going to send it too! (you) lol. So I am very glad you enjoyed it!!!!! I enjoyed picking it out!!!!! ;)
Well sorry this is short and sweet but I'm sure you all understand.
Have a Great Night!
08-22-2006, 02:23 AM
I wasn't able to get online at all until tonight. We had some computer issues.
All this wonderful chatting!! I don't think I can catch up today but will definately try tomorrow.
A big Welcome to Mkat & Ifonly!! So happy to see new faces!!
And a welcome back to MaryKate, Cristina, and Robin! :)
And heck....Hello to you all!!!
Well gals, I'm going to get ready for bed. Going to post in the challenge thread then go....
Have a great night!

I know I am ranting.. :blah: :blah: :blah:
Don't you love how when a deadline is soooooooooo close is when everything falls apart or then you find 10 more things you have to do to get to it? My dd start school on Mon and I swear lately all I am getting is mail or calls on what you have to do now before school starts or she has to be in child care for 2 weeks now at least as there is no room on the bus - what??? True & what a hassle let me tell you. I hear the beach calling my name as I type this. :dizzy:
Don't you think that if you were told 2 months ago that your child would need a zipper binder and so you got it, but then got a letter like yesterday that it has to be 1" and blue - if they are that specific they should buy it. She will take what I bought as I already bought it. Little stresses like this are driving me nutso
Jane... Yea my nutrionist tells me what to do & what to change & all that stuff so I "try" to follow it. I had my goal this week but I don't think I am gonna make it, trying just not killing myself to get to it. I should for what I pay her though lol
I want to go to Chicago! Are you going on the mile? We wanted to take the girls there but the price for a weekend was too much for me at the time. I have driven through Chicago - YIKES (note with our 5th wheel!) never again, let me tell you. The only good thing was that when we had to pee during the 3 hour back up we could walk back to the 5th wheel & go LOL
Thos girls are absolutely ADORABLE!!!!
Cristina... I bet he will get the box. My gf's dh is there and we made him a huge box of candy bars thinking oh will they raid this one! He got them all :)
Welcome Mkat & IFonly!
Hi to Michelle, Katie, Sue, Alex, Marti, Sassy, & Norma (oh don't kill me if I forgot anyone!)
08-22-2006, 11:21 AM
Good morning, ladies,
Ifonly - I do feel very blessed to have the treadmill, especially since it isn't the first one! The last one I had - the pad underneath got bunched up w/o me knowing it, and burned up the motor. Hope you get one, or a bike, soon.
Sue - TY for your kind words about my DGDs. They are so sweet, and still want to spend as much time as possible with me. I know that will change soemday. When we moved, it was approx. 50 feet from the old house to the new one, so that part was a piece of cake. I hope this is the last place I have to move to! Maybe a nursing home someday, God forbid!
Sassy - well, if you have indigestion, and aren't allergic to baking soda, try this: stir 1 teaspoon of baking soda into 3/4 cup water, mix well, and drink it. That will make you burp, and feel better. Hope you get some sleep, sweetie.
Marti - yay, glad your computer is back working. Did James get all his games loaded? I wish they made more of them geared toward women. I used to play a mystery one, called 7th Guest, and it rocked!
Robin - omg, kids supply lists drive me nuts! Some teacher always wants an item that can't be found, or is sold out! When Mary and I go to Chicago, we'll be taking the Amtrak train. We'll be 1 block off the Magnificent Mile, between that and Navy Pier. I went in 2005 with DD Katie, and we stayed right on the Mile, at Hyatt Regency. It was really swanky, but they are pricey! Anyway, if you get a chance, take the Amtrak down and visit us while we're there. I'd love that!
MaryKate - I hope you'll post as often as your hand allows. We miss you around here when you're gone. How are the boys doing?
A special hello to Angie and Julie.
Hello to everyone else, too.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words about my DGDs. I love them so much, it makes my heart feel like it's going to burst at times. I'm going with Mary and the kids to Evansville here in a little while. She's getting some winter clothes for them, before they're all picked over. I'm not looking for anything in particular, but I betcha I come home with some things, lol.
Have a good day!
08-22-2006, 04:18 PM
:welcome: MKat & IfOnly! Glad to have you ladies here and look forward to getting to know you.
SUE...bet you guys can't wait to get moved into the new house! I'm getting excited for you!:carrot: You are doing great with your exercise and walking! :bravo: I found a list of things to send to Josh online...candy, top ramen noodles, games, sunblock, socks, t-shirts, oh the list goes on. I think we may have adopted the whole platoon! V was telling the guys at work we finally heard from him and one of the guys asked him what he could send to him and that he wanted to help. He wanted a list. Well, that list turned into about 25 copies and was going to be discussed at their morning meeting because he (Steve, guy V works with) thinks they should be supporting the guys over there. I told V if they wanted to donate to the whole platoon I will do the shipping. I was looking to help more and have found some sites to help out with. There's one where the guys e-mails for their platoon and tells what they could use over there. So if it gets to be too much I will help others too. I've not heard from V yet today to see what happened and what if anything anyone will do. But this guy, Steve was adamant about helping. Touched my heart.
ROBIN...those lists used to drive me nuts too! I swear the last few years the teachers were more specific on what they wanted, as far as colors and such. Ugh!
JANE...I do think she (Caylin) looks like you and yes all three girls are adorable! I can't wait to have grandkids. Have a fun day shopping with the girls! And what a nice surprise...Neal bringing you a treadmill, woohoo!
MICHELLE...hope all is well with you and your mom.
SASSY/SHEL...you are a sweetie! And THANKS for the cute card! :thanks:  It was a nice surprise for sure. I saw the address label and I thought who is that? I know I've seen that name before, lol. Anyway, hope you got rid of the indigestion and got some sleep. And, how are you liking your new bed?
MARTI...glad your computer is up and running.
MARYKATE...glad you had a nice visit with your family. And still hoping your arm gets better.
Hi to everyone else:wave:
Not much going on today. Did drag myself out of bed finally to go for my walk at the park and that felt good. I find I am always having to force myself to do the exercise and I don't know why. Because once I get up and do it I feel so much better, have more energy, etc. Did some weeding too in the front yard. Have a patch of grass that we killed on purpose to reseed. Was trying to rake it all out but it wasn't completely dead so had to spray it again too. Will have to do that a couple of times before we can reseed to make sure we got the bad crap. So now I need to go vacuum and dust a little since I didn't get that done this morning. I worked some more on Ernie dogs haircut. Goofy dog...he can only take so much of the razor before getting ansty and he lets you know when it's time to stop. So, this has taken three days so far. Started Sunday and since we had some storms, which he is afraid of...he wasn't coming out from anywhere yesterday so didn't bother. Tried to finish today but he had enough. Really is just a little bit of touch up and may not even do that. Cracks me up that when shaved the dog is tan with a black stripe down his back, he has black in spots too but when his hair grows out it is black all over. How can he be black all over with long hair and tan with short? You don't actually see the tan when it grows out either, except of course on his little legs where it is mixed. Anyway, babbling...take care ladies and I hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday!
08-22-2006, 05:46 PM
Hello All: I'm out of the dark. We lost power last night at 6:30pm and it did not come back on until almost midnight. I read all your posts but was too pooped to reply.
Jane: Awesome girls! Don't you just love being a Grandma? I have 12 grandkids. I've always told my kids I should have started with the grandkids first because they are so much sweeter than their parents!LOL. I'm teasing them and they know that the grandkids have me wrapped around their little fingers!
I hope all you great ladies are having a healthly, happy, and fun week.

Good Evening Ladies!!!!!!
I took some meds that I had forgotten I had that my dr. had given me for when I had extreme stomach problems. (I have had stomach problems since I was 16 and they have never found out why expect once I had ulcers but I was just checked out and no ulcers) Anyways I took the meds and they totally knock me out, which was great because I hadn't slept that much either. So I slept from 1 a.m. until 3 p.m. today.......So yes I feel much better!!!!!!!!
I think this is what happened, I'm no dr, but its my "Theory" from having stomach problems most of my life............I think I did get some heart burn, I think that is how it started out. THEN because I had heartburn I couldn't eat, so it was like an endless cycle. I think from not eating, that made it much worse because then all that acid was just creating more acid and you see where I'm going.................
Anyways..................I did eat a turkey sandwich lastnight and then watched some tv until my meds kicked in, then I totally passed out and fell asleep in my new bed. :) I had some weirdo dreams, lemme tell ya. lollllllllllllllllll.
Jane -- that was weird you said that, my hub told me the exact same thing! lol.
Cristina -- YW. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I love picking out cards. It drives my husband nuts though because I can take foooooooorrrrrrreeeeeevvvvveerrrrrr just looking at cards.....................lol. But that day I picked out yours and Jane's, we just happened to be with my mil, who wanted to stop at Hallmark to get some Holiday Ornaments so that gave me the chance to pick out some cards! :D
Marti -- Glad you was able to get back online! Did you have withdrawls???? lol.
Robin -- I know what you mean there. Lately it seems all you see in the papers is "Parents do not forget this or that for school!" We are not parents, yet, but I truely do feel for parents getting ready for school. There was even an ad for back to school TIRES!!!!!!!!!! I was like WHAT????? So there is another thing to add to your list! LOL. Just kidding. lol.
I hope you get to the beach soonnnnnnn to relax.........You taking Johnny (Depp) with ya? lollllllll. He may have been worn out from being with Jane! HEE HEE. Just teasin, Jane. lolllllllllllllllll
A very special hello to all those who are currently MIA out there!!!!!! We miss you, so please come out and "play" ;)
Also hello to all those out in "lurkdom" land!
:welcome: to the newbies! This is a great place, lots of support and lots of fun too! :D

Hi I thought this was too cute not too share..................
We knew it all along, but this just confirms it.
Most of you have read the scare-mail about the person whose kidneys were stolen while he was passed out. Well, read on. While the kidney story was an urban legend, this one is not. It's happening every day.
My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago. It was just that quick. I went to sleep in my body and woke up with someone else's thighs. The new ones had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Who would have done such a cruel thing to legs that had been mine for years? Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine?
I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs. Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in jeans and Sheer Energy pantyhose.
Then, just when my guard was down, the thieves struck again. My butt was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear end (although badly attached at least three inches lower than my ori ginal) to the thighs they stuck me with earlier. Now, my rear complemented my legs, lump for lump. Frantic, I prayed that long skirts would stay in fashion.
It was two years ago when I realized my arms had been switched. One morning I was fixing my hair and I watched horrified but fascinated as the flesh of my upper arms swung to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was really getting scary. My body was being replaced one section at a time. How clever and fiendish.
Age? Age had nothing to do with it. Age is supposed to creep up, unnoticed, something like maturity. NO, I was being attacked repeatedly and without warning. In despair, I gave up my T-shirts. What could they do
to me next?
My poor neck disappeared more quickly than the Thanksgiving turkey it now resembled.
That's why I decided to tell my story. I can't take on the medical profession by myself. Women of the world, wake up and smell the coffee.
That really isn't plastic that those surgeons are using. You KNOW where they are getting those replacement parts, don't you?
The next time you suspect someone has had a face "lifted ", look again. Was it lifted from you? I think I finally found my thighs and I hope that Cindy Crawford paid a really good price for them!
This is not a hoax. This is happening to women in every town every night.
WARN YOUR FRIENDS.
P. S. I must say that last year I thought someone had stolen my breasts. I was lying in bed and they were gone! As I jumped out of bed I was relieved
to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

OMG!!! Sassy that was just too funny!!
Ok...try to catch up a little....and quickly as I need to get going.
Sassy--I always have withdrawls when I can't get online. Then I start thinking of all that I need to do and start doing them instead of getting on the computer. Must really limit my time on here....my butt will thank me later for it!:D
Norma--Trying to catch up after awhile is so hard! What caused the power outage?? I hate it when the power goes out. Nothing like a toilet that you can't flush!!
Cristi--You talked about weeding your yard....I was looking at my pathetic yard which has no grass...just weeds...and out in the far end of the yard was one single sunflower! Apparently a squirrel left us a present. So I picked it. I LOVE sunflowers!! Ok....what a sunflower and weeds have in common...not sure but I wanted to share.:D
Jane--You're DGD are the sweetest and most adorable girls!! You should feel proud! And the little one looks so much like you. Did you realize that?? Now I need to see a photo of their momma....does she look a lot like you??
Robin--How frustrating!! School and the rules. Get it straight the first time. My DD starts school after labor day. We start later than most area's and get out later too. My DD would love to have school in session......I was never like that. Crazy kid!
Sue--So do you have a recipe you follow for this shake of yours?? I think it sound delicious and would be a great thing to have to curb a sweet tooth. (does it??) How much longer until you're in the house??
MaryKate--Missed you friend!! I'm sorry that your arm is still bothering you! I wish I could take some of the pain and let thing ease up for you. As Jane had mentioned....come in anytime you're up to. Alway know we're thinking of you!!
Mkat--You have a great attitude. Love it. Keep it up so it can rub off on me!!:D I have gained in the last few (or more) since I quit smoking. I hate to keep blaming it on that...but I am. But I'm also trying to turn the negative into a positive and won't let this get me down. Glad to have you here and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.
Ifonly--What kind of bike are you saving up for? And exercise bike or an outdoor bike? I have been yammering all summer about dragging my bike out of the shed to pump up the tires so I can go ride around my neighborhood....and it's still in the shed!:o Glad to have you joining us also. And looking forward to learning more about you.
Ok.....that's as far as I can remember and I can't scroll any farther. So if I missed anyone I'm so sorry. I will try to keep up.
Now...for someone who needed to hurry and get off here, this turned into a lllooooooonnnnggggg post!!
Chat w/you girls in the morning!
08-23-2006, 11:06 AM
Yup I'm awake again..............I think I am all messed up.....:dizzy: Good thing I have a drs appt. Thursday!!!! I think I have something going on..........Just haven't been "myself".....................
Anywho..................I am looking for a new job. I just want something different. Something of my own, you know? So I am going to apply to this job at the fertility center, not sure if I'll get it or not, but you gotta try to get rejected, right????? lol.
I guess I just am tired of being in the company of my own misery. lol. I figure its time to do something about it. Not that I'm miserable at work, but just isn't what I want to do with the rest of my life..........I want to make difference in someone's life. I know I won't be doing any medical treatments, but in some way I feel that I will be a tiny stepping stone for someone who is trying to conceive and I know all about how that feels too...........
Marti -- I thought it was too cute not to share with everybody! ;) I know what you mean. I feel like there is a neverending list of stuff that needs to be done but this darn computer keeps calling my name! lol...........
Well Ladies.......I hope you all have a good day!!!!!!!!!!
08-23-2006, 01:13 PM
Good Morning everyone!!
Sassy--Thats how I felt when I took the job that I'm at now. It's in the medical field but it has nothing to do w/medical treatments.....just getting the patients specimen sent out and getting the results in. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the job. I think it's great that you're taking steps to make you feel happier and better.
Not a lot going on this morning. I'm going to grab my pedometer today and see how much walking I'm doing now that I'm covering for the packager who left for a different position. The warehouse is like 10miles away!! (so that's a bit of an exaggeration!) But it is a ways and I want to see how much walking I do.
Ok...hope everyone has a great morning!
Hugs to all:hug:
08-23-2006, 02:04 PM
Hi all! This will be a qwicky sorry :)
This place is nuts we have thousands of freshman moving in, it is like a zoo out here today & will be like this for Thurs & Fri too (but not for me, I won't be here LOL)
Jane... Smart move taking the train to Chicago! Wouldn't that be a hoot if the 5th grade field trip (going to Chicago this year) was the same time you will be there!
Cristina... lists lists & lists - I am the post-it queen lately I swear. I know I will forget something! One of my gfs said that her dd (in 6th grade) has to have a "certain calculator" - it is $70!!!! what???? I see a talk with that teacher real soon, that is crazy! Besides that, I NEVER got a calc. in school. Make them figure it out!
Sassy... your post was a total hoot! What would you do at the clinic? Sounds interesting!
Marti... MI has a law that schools start after Labor Day. Holt is exempt as they have a school in our district that is year round. They have to place the other schools after Labor Day after 2008 but won't before due to contracts & all that.
I know I didn't get everybody, sorry! HUGS TO EVERYONE & THOSE I MISSED! I will try to get on quick tomorrow, I am leaving at 11 for a nice long weekend at the Lake :)
Have a super day!
08-23-2006, 05:15 PM
Nothing much going on...went for my workout, came home and cleaned, started a load of laundry and now I'm getting my 'puter time in. Wanted to go to the park for a walk but I overslept again. I hate when I have my day planned and I over sleep, ugh. Still have time to get a walk in if I want, we'll see.
SHEL...oh that was too cute! Thanks for sharing it with us! And I am glad you finally got some sleep. Has anyone checked to see if maybe you have acid reflux? That could be the problem...DD has it and she goes through the same stuff...really bad indigestion/heartburn, doesn't want to eat because of it and it does affect her sleeping, or I should say lack of. Keeping my fingers :crossed: that you get the job. And you are right, you won't know unless you try. What will you be doing?
ROBIN...I remember those days of the expensive calculators! :yikes: I too don't understand what happened to making the kids figure things out with their brains. Hope you have a funtastic time at the lake! I'm so jealous...I can't remember the last time I had a get-away and I desperately need one! Okay, so I can remember, it's just been a while, lol.
MARTI...there's a house around the corner that has sunflowers planted along their fence in their backyard. I walk by their house on Saturdays (when I do go)...they are drooping now but are above the 6 foot fence, so pretty.
Hi to everyone else, JULES, JANE, MARYKATE, KATHY, MICHELLE, NORMA, MKAT, IfONLY, SUE and anyone I may have missed!
Going to go do some lurking and reading before getting off this thing.
Hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
08-23-2006, 06:58 PM
Glad you all enjoyed the little funny I sent..............You know what they say, a joke a day keeps the dr. away!
I'm not completely sure what I'd be doing there, I think its just verifying the insurance, that is what the job is, Insurance Verifer. So I would imagine I would be calling and speakign with the insurance co.'s a lot to make sure the patients are approved for the treatments.
And yes I do have Acid Reflux, I am on medicine for it, I've had the endoscopy done to check for ulcers, which I did have 7 ulcers years ago, but this time, no ulcers. They want to do a gall bladder scan to rule that out, even though I've had multiple ultra sounds and nothing shows up. (that is how they found hub's gallstones) They have thought it was my gallbladder since I was 16 years old and nothing has ever turned up to validate that.
So yup I do know all about Acid Reflux and stomach things, as I said I've been battling with it since I was a teenager and they cannot figure out what it is, aside from the one time I had all those ulcers. But as I said, they just checked me, no ulcers, nothing showed up this time.
Thanks for all the Well wishes for the job. I haven't applied, yet, I want input from my other co-worker first, of what to put down for reason for leaving and also if I should put if they can contact my current boss. I put down "No room for advancement" for reason for leaving, because they are outsourcing jobs like mad there. (not mine, yet, but it does make ya nervous) and in my personal opinion I think they should not contact my boss at this time, not until I know I have the job. Because why should I have them contact her and then she knows I'm searching for a job and then you know how that goes.....
I dunno.............we'll see.
Have a Great Day Ladies!
08-23-2006, 10:48 PM
Just popping in for a sec... This is the first chance ALL DAY that I've had to get on the computer, and I gotta tell ya, I'm totally worn out. So please excuse me from not doing individuals, ok? Maybe tomorrow.
<yawn> g'nite all......
08-24-2006, 12:29 AM
Sassy: I'm so sorry about your stomach problems and I hope the quest for the new job doesn't make it worse.
To all you other wonderful ladies: Stay motivated, stay on plan and stay in touch. Have a great Thursday.
08-24-2006, 12:52 AM
Late night drive-by....hello and I hope you all had a nice day. I had a busy one starting with the Dr. appt. this morning. Yearly check-up and blood work, which all came out fine. DH and I ran some errands. We went to the new house to swing. :) He painted the porch swing and hung it yesterday so we tried it out. The new neighbor saw us and gave us fresh tomatoes.
After getting home and relaxing a little I cleaned and he mowed. AGAIN.
I didn't exercise today, ate about 1/2 way OP..:)
I needed a day off, so tomorrow it is back to the basics.
Sorry no individuals..I am off to bed.
08-24-2006, 02:32 AM
Hi Ladies. :tired: I got about 4 hrs sleep yesterday? And I have to get up early for a drs appt. later on today. So I plan on heading to bed here soon......
So I hope you all have a great day!
08-24-2006, 09:08 AM
Morning All! :coffee2: :coffee:
It is raining like a beast here!
I am making it short so I can get this pile off my desk & leave with a good feeling of the work is done :)
Have a SUPER WEEKEND EVERYONE!!! I will check back in on Monday when we get back.
