100 lb. Club - In the 260s! Getting closer to the 100 mark.

I just have to say that I about cried this morning when I weighed.

I weighed nearly 300 lbs when I was 14 years old. At the age of 16, I decided to lose weight so I starved myself and exercised 2 hours every day. I got down to 260. I couldn't maintain that lifestyle, so I stopped and ended up going back to where I was at age 14. I maintained that weight (~296) until I was about 20. I then gained up to 364 at the age of 23. Ever since the age of 23, I decided I couldn't stay content with not monitoring my weight and although I struggled, I started having successful losses a little over 2 years ago and all though I've gone through periods of losing/maintaining/struggling to lose, I'm finally back to the point I was 15 years ago. In 5 more lbs, I will have lost 100 lbs total. In 10 more lbs, I will see a number that well I never remember seeing but I imagine was somewhere around age 12.

I know a lot of women would be very frustrated at weighing 269, but let me tell you, I am extremely happy about it.

I, for one, am very proud of you! I know it is so hard. Keep up the good work!!

Total Awesome !!!!! Three cheers!!! Keep it up.

I know how frustrating it is and offer you my heart felt support. I have dieted almost my entire life -- starting with trying to loose 10 lbs at age 13, now at age 50 I need to loose over 100 lbs. My max weight at one point was 310, I had lost over a 100 about 2 years ago and gained it all and more back, but this year I started again in May, now I'm at 258.5 (going for 140 lbs. in time)

This time it's no longer a diet - its a way of life.

WTG! I hope those next 10lbs come off quickly for you!

You also always take time to answer people's food-related questions and it's obvious you know a lot about nutrition. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and great example with us!! :)

Nelie, your post is exactly the inspiration I need right now. I'm about 3 1/2 weeks into my millionth attempt at weight loss, and my biggest frustration is just the number of pounds I need to lose overall. I break it up into mini-goals, I take one day at a time, one moment at a time, but I can't escape the stress of thinking about how many pounds I need to lose. I started at 275 and now I'm 258, and I've spent so much time feeling sorry for myself and comparing myself to friends who say "Oh, I need to lose this last 10 pounds" or "I need to lose 20 or 30." In my head, I know there are people who would love to weigh what I weigh and have only 93 pounds to go to reach goal weight, but I get so caught up in my own problems that I forget to think positively about my own situation.

You've done such an amazing job to get where you are today, and I hope you know how incredibly inspiring you are!

I know a lot of women would be very frustrated at weighing 269, but let me tell you, I am extremely happy about it.

I know what you mean. I was thrilled to see 330, 320, 310, 300, etc. I'm so proud of you for taking control of your weight. I wish I had done it at your age, instead of waiting until now. Congratulations!

I just have to say that you guys are really awesome. Throughout my successful weight loss, 3fc has been there for me. No matter where everyone is at in their weight loss journey, we are all there for eachother. You guys are awesome and I don't think I could've done it without the support I receive here :)

08-12-2006, 12:49 PM

The weight I weigh now I dont think I've weighed since elementary school so I know what you are feeling and how weird it is to be in "uncharted territory". but wow 100 pounds! its such a huge accomplishment! you should be really really proud of it! plus you're over halfway to your goal! <3 <3

Excellent work Nelie! I remember how ecstatic I was getting into the 260s myself. However, 255 was a big number for me to get by (and I plateaued in that area for about 4 months!) as it was the lowest adult weight that I can remember (at 23, am 28 now). I was pretty verklempt when I hit the 240s. I don't post too often, but I lurk frequently, and I have to say that I've always enjoyed your posts, both here and in the Ladies Who Lift forums - always thoughtful and intelligent.

Wow.... I don't know you (I'm new :-P), but your story is inspiring. Congradulations on all you have accomplished!

08-14-2006, 01:42 AM
You are a true inspiration here! So close to 100 pounds and counting! It's all about sticking with it through these "periods of losing/maintaining/struggling to lose" as you put it...never losing sight of the goal.

08-14-2006, 01:48 AM
Nelie: You should be applauded. It's no easy task losing weight. When I close my eyes I can just imagine what it would be like to weigh 95 lbs less. You don't have to imagine it any more. YOU DID IT! Hooray!

08-14-2006, 09:39 AM
Nelie--- I think you were just joining when I was just leaving.. Wow-- you are amazing! Its so wonderful that you are accomplishing your goals. You are such a beautiful girl. I bet you look fantastic. Congratulations on your victory! Looking forward to hanging out with you for the rest of the trip!

nelie -- AWESOME!! I know what you mean about certain weights having more importance -- for me it was 250 and 220... places I had been for a while and served as milestones.

I think you have a great sense of the whole picture and love your health focus! You let us know when you get to that 100 lb mark and we will whoop it up for you!!!!!!
