Hey Kathy, don't like you sitting all by yourself.:dizzy:
I got a lot of cleaning done today. I'm going to have a couple of pieces of furniture touched up next week. I do I miss the work dollars.
08-09-2006, 06:56 PM
Hi everyone, got back a little while ago from taking the kids swimming. Dinner is almost ready. I have been op for 3 days and it feels good. I want to get an estimate to do my floors, rip up carpets and sand & varnish the wood floors underneath, big project & big mess. I also need to paint my livingroom & bedroom.
Saundra I love the sink & vanity, very pretty! I just saw the pictures of your Grandsons, they are adorable!!
Vickie, I hope everything goes well for your gf. Wow, I hope Jim makes it on millionaire, I could definitely be a lifeline, am pretty good , my dh always tells me I should go on, maybe one of these day, the studio is only a train ride away.
Kathy glad Judd found his bike computer. I also sell on ebay, all the clothes and stuff my kids outgrow each season, I sold my daughters clothes from last summer for $215.00 total from 2 seperate lots, I love it.
Sandra I wish I was a fly on the wall watching you guys install the toilet, I love ricki & lucy :D
08-09-2006, 09:19 PM
hi, chickies. i'm a little blue today. i'm missing my son, his wife, and my granddaughters. i can't help it. we will get to go see them in november. guess i'll just have to put on a smile now. november will be here soon.
i went to w a earlier than normal today. the class was more laid back. i'll prob keep going to the later class instead. the workouts are more intense.
nikki, i'm proud of you for jumping on that wagon. i'll bet you're feeling better already.
not much happening around here. the toilet is working. now isn't that a big report?
have a good evening, all.
08-09-2006, 09:42 PM
It's always good news when the toilet is working! Congrats to plumber Curtis ... a handy man to have around the house! I always say thank goodness that between Judd and I, we could fix most anything that goes wrong in this house. We've un-snaked drains, repaired the toilets and the washer and dryer, replaced the dishwasher, installed fencing and landscaping and sprinklers, HE put in the Pergo in the living and dining rooms, hung the potrack in the kitchen, installed all ceiling fans ... I could go on and on. Isn't it nice to be competent?
I'm sorry you're missing your Texas family. It must be so difficult; just hang on! November really will be here before you know it!
08-09-2006, 10:41 PM
kathy, i just got off the phone with my dil and granddaughters. i'm good to go again. you and judd are very impressive. i am amazed ya'll can do so much.
08-10-2006, 10:28 AM
Good morning, all! Again ... (broken record here) ... it's another 10 hour day so I'm just taking a little break to check in. I guess I'll be back later to check again.
Nothing new here except it's supposed to be 104 again today and for the next several days. They said this is the 25th day of 100+ temps.
My weight went back up a bit and is now hanging around the 142 mark and will not move. I'm not complaining because I know lots of people would like to have my "problem" ... however, it's still annoying.
08-10-2006, 10:29 AM
Good Morning Chicks! Wow the board has NEVER been this quiet.
I have a busy day and it's always a big deal when I cook. It really cuts into my time here, darnnit! We watched a lot of TV last night. Jim really seemed to want the company. Lately, he hasn't wanted me to be in here for such long stretches at a time. So I'm trying to accommodate him.
Sandra, , I'm sorry you're missing your family but I'm glad to hear that the telephone call made you feel a little better. I could never have moved away from my family. I made Jim promise that we'd move back to the Southside so I could be close to my family since we lived on the Northside all his life. He moved. What a guy.
Niki, Jim and I are accepting all applications for lifelines! :D He's especially nervous about pop culture since we're kind of old fogies! If he gets a Harry Potter question and his audience lifeline is gone, he'll have to walk. What's your speciality. I should tell my Niece about the clothes on ebay. She always buys such gorgeous stuff from Little Me and Childrens World.
Hey Frouf, speaking of specialities, you never told me what yours is. Where are you anyway? Party, party, party? I hope you're enjoying your time with your brother.
Kathy, you're lucky that you guys are so handy. Jim and I have only office brains. I'm the more handy of the two of us but even I'm not that great. I can replace the works inside the toilet but not the whole toilet. We could never install a floor! We definitely do NOT fit into the competent category. I'm good at knowing who to call. ;)
Saundra, I need to deep clean again too. It's been 6 weeks since I did a deep cleaning. Since then, I've just been cleaning up. It's hard work and it takes a long time. I really need to do cabinets, baseboards, and doors but Jim isn't up to moving furniture yet.
Well, I need to do my banking and then start to think about breakfast. I have an eye specialist appointment today at 1:45 and Jim has a PT appointment at 4:30. I have no idea what I'm making for dinner. I think we'll just go out to our favorite Italian Core restaurant.
I hope you all have a great day! I'll try to stop in later.
08-10-2006, 10:30 AM
Hey....the hug won't work. Sandra, I was trying to give you a hug!
08-10-2006, 10:31 AM
Sandra, you'd be surprised what all you can do when you try. Okay, I don't mean YOU specifically, I just mean "a person." When the dryer stopped drying, we thought about getting another. Then we thought about getting it fixed. Then Judd got on the internet and researched it, went and bought a $20 set of wires, put it all together and it still didn't work. Researched some more, bought a new part for the motor, tore it all apart, replaced part, put it back together ... and there you go! It worked perfectly PLUS we had a new set of wires! It cost less than a service call from the warranty company. We aren't the kind to hire someone to do what we can do ourselves.
08-10-2006, 10:31 AM
Good Morning Kathy! I wish I could have your temperature but just for a couple of days. It's raining here since last night. I'm not sure what the forecast is for the next couple of days. I'd really like to get back into my pool.
08-10-2006, 10:32 AM
We hire people because we're afraid we'll break it worse!
08-10-2006, 10:33 AM
Good morning, Vickie! "Office brains!" I had to laugh at that, because I know lots of people who also fit that category. I guess we're lucky to have both; Judd also repairs our computers and develops real estate websites. He's awfully handy to have around if you can stand the moodiness.
08-10-2006, 10:34 AM
And then end up paying even MORE! I hear ya! There have been times I hesitated to do things but went ahead and kept my fingers crossed.
08-10-2006, 10:38 AM
I'm also impatient. Not a good combination. We'll never be rich (having to pay people to do it for us) but we're comfortable. I'm a good builder. I'm the one who assembles everything that needs to be assembled. I always read all instruction manuals whenever we get new electronics. I'm the one to figure out how things work. I'm just afraid of electricity and house things.
08-10-2006, 10:53 AM
Va Va Vavoom, Saundra! You have got to post your picture that you posted on the BCB board. If that isn't encouragement for me to stop whining and get my little old perimenopausal/menopausal self going the I don't know what would be!
I often read BCB even though I don't post there. I love to look for new recipes. We'll you know I'm all struggling with menopause, so I read a thread there about menopause. There, lo and behold, was Saundra looking gorgeous and telling/showing everyone that there's alot to look forward to once I pass this stage. Thanks, Saundra!
08-10-2006, 11:10 AM
Good morning ladies! Vickie, sorry to tell you, more rain is on your way. It's been thunderstorming off and on all morning, starting at 5 am, which of course, woke up all my kids and disrupted the household. Oh well - it's summertime. :)
We had a fun little jaunt window shopping at the mall yesterday with SIL. She left smiling and chatting, so I think it was good.
I think I'm handier than my dh...at least I read and follow instructions better. But he's good with wiring and cables and stuff like that. We put together our own theater room, and actually did a fair amount of work when we were building our house. However, for plumbing and electricity, we call my Dad. He's a handy guy to have living nextdoor.
My kids are getting restless...I think it's time for school to start soon. My 5 year old, especially, NEEDS something more than hanging around home. They're doing their chores with great gusto this morning because I told them we could take a walk in the rain after they were done. The joys of childhood! :D
I'd better hop off now, because they're almost done.
08-10-2006, 11:24 AM
Angela, it's here! It's black as night and the radar is all orange and yellow. I think I'll get off and go eat breakfast now.
08-10-2006, 12:40 PM
good morning. i'm heading out to get my hair cut in a couple of minutes but wanted to say, "hi." first.
kathy, i didn't realize it had been over 100* that long. no wonder you're looking for some rain from someone.
thank you for your sweet words and hug, vickie. we have family in texas and montana so we're always away from someone. i am much chipper now after the phone conversation. (thank goodness!)
saundra, i need to see that photo. please post it for us here.
angela, our grands are ready for school to start, too. so are their mothers. some things never change.
curtis is much handier than i am. his osteo-arthritis handicaps him, though. putting in the new toilet was hard on his knees. (does that make sense?)
gotta go. the kitchen timer just told me to get off the puter and head out. see ya later.
08-10-2006, 01:40 PM
Good afternoon, today is not off to a good start, ds was up at 3am having a coughing fit, everytime he gets sick he ends up with such a bad chronic cough, so at 4am I am sitting in the bathroom with him with the shower on letting him breath in the steam, it seemed to work his cough subsided a bit and he was able to fall back asleep. I am taking him to the pediatrician today at 2:30 because he was also running a fever of 102.7 last night, the pediatrician says he has asthma, he gets the inflamed airways which causes his cough, thank goodness he never has had weezing or shortness of breath.
DD was sick last week but she recovered in a couple of days. I am also feeling under the weather, throat is scratchy and I am sneezing, woke up with a major headache.
Will check back later, have to give them lunch and get them ready to head out. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
08-10-2006, 02:08 PM
08-10-2006, 02:09 PM
Niki, sorry about ds, hope she's better soon.
Vickie, thanks so much, you're a sweetie. You and i are exactly the same when it comes to fixin things. I do all the research and go through instructions, but have no patience when it comes to repairs. We keep the workmen in business.
Sandra, so glad you spoke to your family. I'm loving having the kids here and Brayden and I are becoming great friends.
Kathy, you and Judd are a great team. If you lived here, or in Chicago, Vickie and I could hire you.
Okay, here's the pic...
08-10-2006, 05:49 PM
Niki, sounds like spasmodic croup to me. My dd used to get it almost every time she had any kind of respiratory bug. It's scary, but you are doing the right thing by getting him in the steam. If that doesn't work, sometimes taking them out in the cool night air works. Once we had to go to the emergency room and get a breathing treatment and steroids, and she was on a nebulizer for a bit after that, but I think (crossing fingers) she's outgrown it now.
The rain has stopped, and it's nice and sunny now...so maybe there's hope for you and your pool tomorrow Vickie. :)
08-10-2006, 06:16 PM
nikki, i hope ds is better. and you, too. let us know what the doctor says.
saundra, that's a great photo. you are adorable. okay, i am duly impressed. i need to stay on track now. thank you for posting. this is a great inspiration.
here are before and present photos of me. i took the present one today (by myself) the before was taken in spring 05. i just cropped it off another photo. i'm about halfway to where i'm headed now.
08-10-2006, 06:19 PM
Sandra, looking great, you are absolutely adorable.:)
Wow, can I ever see the fantastic difference.
08-10-2006, 06:30 PM
thank you, saundra. i am already feeling much much more confident in myself. today we were in a store that had full length mirrors. i caught myself in my periferial (sp?) vision and didn't know who i was. lol i still have a ways to go but i'm having fun on the journey.
08-10-2006, 07:17 PM
Sandra, what a difference! You look terrific girlie! You look younger.
Niki, I hope DS get better quickly. You sound tired. I hope you take care of yourself.
Saundra, thanks for posting your picture. You ahve a fantastic figure. I hope I look half as good as you when I get to your age!
My eyes are still dialated so I won't be here long. Jim had to drive himself to therapy. We weren't thinking too clearly when we made his PT appointment after the eye doctor. He says the driving doesn't hurt but this is a lot in a short period of time.
We're going out for dinner although our plans keep changing. Niece/NIL and the kids might be coming. We'll see.
08-10-2006, 08:30 PM
Happy evening, goilies! I'm finally home from work -- and ready for a few hours' rest.
Tomorrow starts my gym routine where I will get up at 5:00, get to the gym by 5:30, do my weight training until 6:00 or 6:30, and then get cleaned up and on to work.
I'm making portobello mushroom ravioli with Newman's Own marinara right now; after it's done I will be putting FF mozzarella on it. Judd is riding his mountain bike tonight so it'll be a while until he's done, home, and ready to eat. I have also made a big salad.
Sandra, that is just an incredible difference in you! Look at that big smile! It makes me giddy to know that I might be seeing it in person this November!!
08-10-2006, 09:09 PM
Sandra, there really is a big difference! Way to go on your fantastic progress. :)
08-10-2006, 09:47 PM
vickie, that's impressive that jim can drive already. where did ya'll go for dinner?
know what curtis said when he saw the photos? something to the effect that you could tell a more realistic difference if the photos had been the same size. he owes me a compliment.
kathy, i'm ready to see you, too. i like mushrooms but they don't like me. i can't eat them without getting sick. it took several hurting sessions for me to realize that.
angela, when do your girls start to school? my grands in tx start monday.
08-10-2006, 09:51 PM
Look at all of these hot mamas around here!! :whoo:
Gals I'm so behind. I'm so sorry! We've been taking full advantage of our vacation. :D
We went to a great pottery shop yesterday up on the side of a mountain. The woman there "threw" a pot for us and told us all about it, and of course we bought some stuff. We went to do our picture scavenger hunt but it started pouring rain. This afternoon we went to see our respective parents and got stuck because there was a major storm with tornado warnings. What fun! :) Anyway, we have three more glorious days! :D
I need to catch up on all of you. I hope you are all well! My eating is horrendous.
08-10-2006, 09:55 PM
melissa, i'm soooo glad you're enjoying your vacation. you should enjoy every minute of it and sounds like that's what you're doing. we need some of your rain. lots of forest fires around here.
08-10-2006, 10:01 PM
Thanks Sandra. We've really been trying to live it up while we can! Of course since we stayed at home, we're realizing that we could do these things all of the time if we would just get off our rumps and do them. Day trips and whatnot to take advantage of the time that we have! Ok, off of my soapbox. :D
08-10-2006, 10:01 PM
Rain? What's that? We also have red-flag warnings and burn bans still in effect. I'm about to move.
Vickie, I guess I thought Jim was already driving. I'm sure he's fine to do so since everything is healing well. Don't worry so much about him.
Melissa, it's great that you're having a good vacation! Hopefully you can resume the scavenger hunt tomorrow? The time sure passes quickly though, doesn't it?
Off to dry my hair so I can get in bed by at least 11. That'll be my usual 6 hours and I dare not ask for more.
08-10-2006, 10:04 PM
Passes too quickly!! Hey, before we got rained out we did find a crack in a sidewalk in the shape of a "B". One thing off the list!
Sorry you all are so dry and hot there!
08-10-2006, 10:16 PM
 That's a good find!
08-10-2006, 10:50 PM
Vickie, I'm sorry you're having so much rain. I'm fascinated by weather and what happens in the different parts of the country though ... and was sorta amused by the fact that our LOW tonight is supposed to be about 10 degrees higher than your HIGH today. Isn't that interesting? It just baffles me how things can be so different.
08-10-2006, 11:12 PM
I still can't see too good and the monitor hurts my eyes. When I go to the eye specialist they do some kind of mega dialation. Today they took the pictures of the back of my eyes so that they could see all of the blood vessels. They need to make sure that my high pressure isn't doing any damage to my eyes. Doc said they look beautiful! Another thing to be grateful for.
I'm doing better with my portions. I've been a little hungry after each meal today. I'm going to try not to eat anything more tonight. I really want popcorn though. Sorry if there are any typos. I can't proof my post too tonight. I'll catch up with all of you in the morning.
08-11-2006, 10:36 AM
 Poor, blinded Vickie! At least the doctor said they looked beautiful! And by the way, there were no typos!
Upon reflection, I think the reason I thought Jim was driving is because I misread something from last week. I don't know why I got the impression that he had gone to therapy while you did something else. Maybe I should pay closer attention!
Judd didn't sleep well last night and was up and down, up and down ALL night. When the alarm went off at 5:00, I said NO WAY and turned it off. I'll go to the gym after I leave work today. I really need to get going on the weight training to build some muscle. Losing fat is only half of the equation ... if no muscle replaces it, the end result resembles a deflated balloon!
Off to find some breakfast. I think there might be some fruit in the breakroom fridge that I brought the other day but didn't eat. If not, there's always Cheerios to fall back on since I keep a box in my desk drawer.
08-11-2006, 10:38 AM
Good morning chickies,
Melissa, it sounds like you guys are having a blast, good for you. It's great to be able to make all those day trips in your area. We sometimes overlook what's in our own backyards.
Vickie, can you see better? Good that Jim is making progress. I'm sure he loves getting behind the wheel again. Yesterday, Bernie and I sat in the familyroom with heat cushions on my ankle and his knee, what a couple! I went to the orthotics lady and she gave me the do's and don't's of shoe wear. Of course, I have many don't's in my wardrobe. She's making orthotics for me and recommended new runners. $$$
Sandra, you should love your reflection, it's wonderful! I'm so enjoying having the kids here. Kelly's mom and sister are here from Quebec City and Steve made a fantastic barbeque. He made a roast on the spit and his seasoning is roasted garlic, horseradish and shakes of something. I can't tell you how good it was.
Okay, better go hit the shower,
08-11-2006, 10:58 AM
Good morning ladies! It looks cloudy today, but no rain so far. I wish I could send you a good crashing thunderstorm like we had yesterday Kathy. Nothing beats Midwestern storms. :)
We took the girls out last night to Texas Roadhouse, because we had some free kids' meal coupons from the library reading contest. They ate well (of course, they love hot dogs, the evil food  ) but I had their cheeseburger. Wow, I ate WAY past full. Oh well.
D'yall remember that computer game I've talked about - World of Warcraft? Well, last night I had dh change my password so I don't know what it is. Only he can log me in now. I think I was getting a real problem...it's basically all I was doing or thinking about in my free time, and it was beginning to encroach upon my not-free time. I read an article about video game addiction being similar to gambling addiction, and I really think it's true. I have always known that I have a personality that's suceptible to addicting behaviors. I thank my lucky stars daily that I'm Mormon, and have never had to deal with smoking/drinking, because I bet I would have a problem with it. Anyway, I'm embarrased to say I have a problem, but I guess that's the first step to fixing it? And I figured you ladies would be sympathetic. I'm kind of excited to have the time free today to play with my kids and clean my house. I may even sew on my quilt! I feel free.
Anyway, off to butter the kids' muffins. (that sounds funny)
08-11-2006, 11:08 AM
Hi ladies, ds has a throat infection and is now on antibiotics, I was up all night again, poor ds just kept coughing, I feel so bad for him. I am waiting for dh to call me back I want to see if he can come home early from work, I feel awful, throat hurts, running a fever and I have a terrible headache and I feel really wiped, I think it is my turn to make a doctors visit and I would hate to have to bring my kids into the doctors office with me with all the sick people in the waiting room, I don't want them catching something else.
Sandra & Saundra, you guys look Marvelous, what a great inspiration!!!
Kathy I hope you get some rain soon, I won't even tell you that we got a cold front and our high today is 79 degrees, oops I just told you :D :D :D
Vickie I hope your eyes are feeling better and your vision improved some.
Melissa, we did the same thing on our vacation, just did alot of day trips and local things. Have fun!!
I hope I didn't forget anyone, please forgive me :D :D I will come back in a bit, I hear dd tearing apart her bedroom
08-11-2006, 11:12 AM
Hi Angela, we must of been posting at the same time. My dh tells me I am addicted to the computer, he tells me he is going to turn himself into a computer so he can get some attention:D :D Good luck with your withdrawals, take it one day at a time:D :D
08-11-2006, 11:15 AM
I have always known that I have a personality that's suceptible to addicting behaviors.
You and me both, sister! I know exactly what you're saying. Even Judd mentioned yesterday that he thinks he has a slight internet addiction because it's the first thing he does in the morning and the first thing he does when he gets home from work. I have to rush in and start dinner, and don't get online at home in the morning, but it's the first thing I do when I get to work.
I've never been a smoker, and never had a drop of anything to drink until I was about 40 or so ... but still, there are times when I understand how people can get addicted to different things. I always say there's no way that I could ever try drugs, because knowing my tendencies, I'd be hooked the first time.
08-11-2006, 11:47 AM
Good Morning Chicks! I can SEE!!!! I got up at 7:30 but I've been busy since then. Jim took the car in for an oil change and tire rotation and they talked him into $400 worth of maintenance. Sigh. That's why I wanted to go with. I'm the hard sell. Anywhooooo......he left before I got up and is sitting there reading all 3 newspapers. I think he might be enjoying his alone time. Meanwhile back at the ranch....I'm doing some laundry and surfing in between some other light chores and eating breakfast. It's a really nice morning so far. Weather wise, it's not so great but one cannot have everything, can they? My weight is up again this morning. I'm working hard on smaller portions. Really, besides my metabolism and menopause, it's the only thing I can control. Oh yeah...and exercise. I could get some of that too!
Ok, the board is incredibly slow this morning. I know I have a lot of catching up to do but I may try back later. It won't even let me use smilies this morning. Harumpf.
08-11-2006, 12:33 PM
Morning chickies! I think we are going to hang out at home today. It is a dreary day and there's quite a bit we can do around here. We might go to a movie later or maybe out to eat. But other than that we're hanging out here. That's fine with me, I'm a homebody! :D
Niki, I hope that you get to go to the doctor and feel better very, very soon!
Saundra, it sounds like you are having such a great time having all of your family around. It really is a blessing!
Vickie, I'm glad that you aren't blind any more! :D It sounds like you are really trying to do some new things with your eating, and that's great. Never give up!!
Kathy, I'm sorry you didn't get much sleep last night. Have fun at the gym. But I don't think you look like a deflated balloon!
Speaking of the gym, where's Frouf? Is she already gone on her trip? I'm so behind.
Angela, I think having DH change your password was very brave! It takes a lot to say that you have a problem with something, no matter what it is. So good going gf. :) Have fun with all of your new-found activities!
Well I guess that catches me up, at least a little bit.
08-11-2006, 12:42 PM
Good morning, Melissa! I hope you're enjoying your last few days off! It sure goes by quickly, doesn't it?
I had two bills to work on this morning; both from the orthopedic practice -- one for the doctor and one for therapy. I had already paid a ton and then one came in for $88 from the doctor and one for $20 from therapy. While it's not much, I just couldn't see how on earth I would possibly still owe! I started researching the bigger one and between the office insurance lady and I, we found enough mistakes (mostly from the insurance company) to get it down to $10. Much better. The other I'm still waiting to hear back from the therapy insurance lady -- but it looks like they just didn't file a claim on one of the visits. On that one, they might end up owing ME.
I'm just going to work until around 1 or 2, then am going to Whole Foods for a few things, then home to make whole wheat bread. Judd has a bike ride tomorrow somewhere out of town so he'll be leaving early. If I'm able, I'll come to work. If not, I guess I'll stay home and clean. Blech.
Nothing else happening -- so I'll check back in a bit!
08-11-2006, 12:46 PM
Wow, making your own bread! I'm impressed!!
Sorry about your bills, but glad you got them down anyway. You'll be dealing with this stuff for a long time won't you? You're so active I forget all that you've been through!
08-11-2006, 01:15 PM
The board is still impossibly slow for me. I'll be back later to catch up. Poor Jim is still sitting at the car dealership. I just called him on his cell and tried to get him to ask them how much longer but he won't. Sheesh. I guess I'll keep doing stuff.
08-11-2006, 01:28 PM
I usually make bread every week or so. I don't use a bread maker -- just a bowl and cloth to cover with and loaf pans to cook it in. The only good help I have is a nice big KitchenAid mixer with a dough hook.
Vickie, I'm not sure why the board isn't cooperating with you this morning. It seems normal to me and all smilies are working. Maybe it'll improve soon.

Kathy, I love making home-baked bread, although I don't do it much anymore. I've also made home-baked cinnamon rolls many times, and MMM, they're good. :)
I decided in celebration of my newfound freedom, I've invited SIL and BIL over for dinner tonight. We're having honey barbecue meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and some type of green bean dish, to use up the green beans from the garden. Which sounds better?
Green Beans & Onions - basically you cook the beans, and put this warm sauce stuff over it, made with onion, Splenda, balsamic vinegar, bottled roasted red peppers, olives, basil, salt and pepper. The plus is, it's Core.
Green Beans Amandine
Green beans cooked, then tossed with slivered almonds, margarine and lemon juice.
I'm thinking they both don't care for veggies much anyway, so I'm cooking them basically for me, but whatever! :)
I also want to make a WW dessert with fruit and a top crumble type crust made with LF butter, Splenda and graham crackers. Dare I be so brave as to serve a WW dessert? I know Vickie does it all the time. It's a really tasty dessert.
Also, (so many questions) what's the best way to make homemade mashed potatoes? I know we have some mashed potato fans here. I tend to make them lumpy, which is the way I like them, but I know others don't care for that so much.
Back to work.
08-11-2006, 02:28 PM
If you warm the milk, it's supposed to keep the lumps to a minimum. Also, if you beat them too much, they get more of a glue consistency. They should be mashed as thoroughly as possible with the warm milk, and THEN use a mixer if you still need to but not for long (unless you really LIKE glue-y potatoes).
A lot of people say to boil the potatoes whole with the skins on so that they don't get water-logged, then peel them afterwards. (Carefully, because you have to still do it while they're hot.)
That's MY opinion. Oh and for the green beans, I vote for option #1. The roasted red pepper tipped the scale in their favor. :D
08-11-2006, 02:52 PM
You guys are making me hungry. I like the idea of warming the milk for the potatoes, gotta try that one. I use a potato masher for mine with milk and no cal margarine spray.
The beans with almonds sounds easier, but the first one sounds very interesting. Can you use fresh red peppers?
Angela, congratulations on your new found freedom, sounds like you've turned a big corner.:)
08-11-2006, 03:59 PM
Hmm...Angela it all sounds so tasty! I definitely think you should go for your WW dessert, sounds great and I bet no one knows the difference. As for the green beans, they both sound good. If they are picky eaters though, they might be more likely to go for #2--less mystery. Just a thought! :D
We are so lazy today. It's pouring rain so we are having a movie day. We're on #2 now. We've moved to the bedroom where we can watch the rain through our back doors. It's a nice vacation day! :rain:
08-11-2006, 04:11 PM
Okay, one last time! You can all shut yer traps about the rain!! OKAY???
Rain or not, I think we should gas up the wagon and go find Frouf.
08-11-2006, 04:30 PM
Oops, sorry! :o
Yes, where is our Froufy?
08-11-2006, 04:59 PM
I think Froufy is enjoying the company of her brother and his family who are visiting from Florida, and I'm sure that they are enjoying this lovely sunny and not so hot day!
08-11-2006, 05:23 PM
That's right! I'm glad Saundra has a good memory. :)
08-11-2006, 06:14 PM
Okay, yes, but she can't sneak away for FIVE minutes to say hello? Personally, I think she ran away and joined the circus.
08-11-2006, 06:39 PM
 Froufie, and that pink dog from a while back...I see a plot thickening.
08-11-2006, 06:44 PM
Hehehe!! We could start a new story with her as the main character!
08-11-2006, 07:22 PM
hi, chickies. we've had a fabulous day. i went to ww this am. i was up 1 lb. that's not bad. what i'm mainly proud of is that i got back op right after our trip. this is an nsv for me. we took the grands to a local state park and let them kayak and swim. they had a blast. we also had a picnic.
melissa, i'm enjoying reading about your fun vacation. you're right, though. we could all get off our duffs and do more fun things.
kathy, we have burn bans here, too.
vickie, i am so proud of you for working on portion size. that's something i'm having to do, too.
thank you, saundra. i have to admit i'm already wanting to buy some new clothes. i guess i need to hunt in the closets to see what i have that's "almost" new. that roast sounds awesome!!
angela, that is smart of you to let dh have the password. i think all of us here have compulsive behaviors. that's why we gained weight. i have always been grateful that i don't smoke. i've never had a problem with drinking either. i probably have less than 10 drinks a year. (prob much much less) enjoy your free time.
nikki, i hope you and your family get well quickly. you have to be exhausted.
oops!! just realized i typed a reply instead of a story continuation for the circus lady. i'll go delete.
08-11-2006, 07:43 PM
Well the circus wouldn't have me so I'm back here I guess? - it seems you can't teach an old frouf new tricks - ha ha ha ha :D:D:D
Trying to catch up with all of you!
Vickie - glad you can see again (how many fingers am I holding up?) and that Jim is on the mend! As for phone a friend specialty -what are my choices? I am good at music, broadway shows, some pop culture - and seem to carry a boatload of miscellaneous trivia in my head! ha ha ha
Sandra - you look AMAZING - gorgeous - and way younger - keep up the good work!
Saundra - your bathing suit pic makes you look so trim and slim - I bet you don't freak out when bathing suit season rolls around!
Angela - glad you are enjoying you 'free' time - and that you are aware of your addictive personality!!! I'm sure you also can't wait til school starts.
Niki - poor you! Hope you and ds are both feeling better soon - did you get a chance to go to the dr? And if you are only a train ride away from Millionaire - I set get thyself on a train and go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kathy - Hope you are enjoying your smilley underwear? And getting more rest depite Judd's nightly adventures. How is the exercising going?
yes I am busy busy with my company - having lots of fun catching up! They got in wednesday afternoon (as I was freaking out cuz cleaning lady was so late!). We even fired up the NEW BBQ! I ended up doing the grilling - my first time ever - and I am proud to report it was pretty good - burgers and chicken breasts. SIL made a summer salad (chopped up peppers/onions/cucumbers mixed w/lf sour cream)....also had baked potatoes, coleslaw and pickles.
Thursday was a bit rainy/gloomy (sorry kathy!) - went to the mall. We split up (boys and girls :) ) - took sil to a few stores - did I ever mention how gorgeous she is - young and slim. Like a size 3 or 4? So it was a bit depressing to say the least - I dared not venture to my plus size sections. She is about 5'7 - maybe 110 lbs? Very fit - just completed an 'ironman' competition a week ago - and in training for a triathlon in a couple of weeks (swimming/biking/running). Every morning she and my brother are up and out around 8:30 am for a 4-5 mile run (I think they do like 7 minute miles?)
My eating is off track - nothing too terrible - but definitely not core! I am trying not to go to crazy - cuz I will surely pay the price next week!
Today tho I am feeling poorly - I have had a pain in my upper right front thigh for a few weeks now - nothing more than a twitch - but in the past few days it seems more like muscle spasm? This morning I woke up with shooting pain in this area (like a 4 inch long by 2 inch wide spot) - as if I was getting electric jolts in that area (think cattle prod) and it was literally making me jump and jerk around. With no warning - just piercing pains in this area.
It feels like a deep muscle problem - I can't even reach to massage the pain away? Not sure what it causing this but it sure is freakish. Took a muscle relaxant this morning and dh decided to drive dd to camp so I wouldn't have to be distracted by the pain while driving. Felt better for a few hours after the pill - but now it's back? I am a bit worried esp cuz I am cruising in a month's time and can't have any mobility problems!
If this keeps up I will call dr on Monday and get an appt - I think I need some PT or deep muscle massage or that TENS machine? Asked sil what she thought (given she's into exercising) - says she has had similar problem - only time and stretching will help - seems I may have injured muscles around the area - and this muscle had to compensate and it now weakened? At least she did not make it sound very serious - but it sure it annoying to all of a sudden feel like someone has placed an electric cattle prod on your leg!
Today sil is in a little town about an hour away to visit with her family there (her mom is Canadian!!) - she is staying overnight and we will join her there tomorrow. We did a bit more shopping today - dh got new runners under my brother's tutoring as he is a major runner as well.
We are now preparing to go downtown/to the market area (very trendy) - will probably have dinner there and so some more souvenir shopping. At least I did have a nap this afternoon (still feeling groggy!) - but again having those sharp pains in my leg! OUCH!
Will go change as it has cooled off quite a bit - I am thinking long pants and covered shoes as my feet will probably freeze in sandals!
Company leaving very early Sunday morning - and given the recent airline scares sounds like we might have to get them to the airport around 4 am for a 7 am flight! Also have dh's niece's new baby's christening to go to on Sunday (I have never been to a christening!) - not sure what to wear or gift to bring? Reception after at sil's house (the one with the pool) - so I am considering packing pu the suits and towels - just in case! :D
08-11-2006, 07:59 PM
frouf, it makes me sad that you're in pain. please go to the doctor and see what's happening. i don't want you to be hurting on your cruise. well, any other time either. i'm glad you're enjoying your company. also, i'm glad you didn't join the circus.
08-11-2006, 08:05 PM
Finally she surfaces!!!
It sounds to me like you have a pinched or inflammed nerve. Anytime there is burning and twinging in an extremity, even at the upper part, I think of nerves. I hope you get relief soon!
It sounds like you're having such a time with the relatives -- good going! I liked the description of your cook-out and have made a note of the cucumber salad. It sounds pretty darn good right now!
My bread is on its first rising and Judd just walked in. He wants to go for Mexican food. Sigh ... what's a girl to do? Options are cooking (don't wanna), ordering in (don't wanna) or going out and eating cheese enchiladas, rice and beans (don't wanna). I'll let you know which one of us wins out.
Shaun has a DEP meeting (his last!!!) at the Navy recruiting office in the morning at 8:30 so I'll drop him off and then go on to work. A few of his friends have called this afternoon but he didn't talk long. Hopefully he told them he can't go out tonight because he has an early meeting. That would be an excellent response, and also very mature. We'll see. I know the friends want to have one last hurrah with him, but I'm a little leery of him going on. I'm holding my breath until he gets on the plane a week from Tuesday. He actually leaves home on the 21st, next Monday, to spend the night in a hotel because they have a very early flight.
Okay, I'm off to see what's going to happen tonight. Be back later! Meanwhile Frouf, don't go joining the circus.
08-11-2006, 10:03 PM
Okay, drumroll please....here are the shelves! We just finished touching up the paint tonight. I don't know how well you'll be able to see the colors and whatnot, but here they are! :carrot:
08-11-2006, 10:27 PM
That looks REALLY good!! I can tell and I love the colors! Congratulations to you and Aaron for pulling off a major home improvement!!
08-11-2006, 10:39 PM
Totally Classy, and I love the colours. A job well done, and worth the wait!:bravo:
08-11-2006, 11:01 PM
Thanks!! But Aaron really did them, I just helped paint. ;)
08-11-2006, 11:14 PM
Oh, no! Don't you back down now! Did you two consult on the colors? Did you bring him a drink of water while he was working? Mop his brow? Stay out of the way? If you can answer "yes" to any of the questions, you helped.
08-11-2006, 11:18 PM
 I guess I did then.
08-11-2006, 11:19 PM
By the way I don't know if you can tell...I meant to tell you all that the fireplace (center) is red and the other walls are brown. I don't know if you can tell the difference in the picture. And the molding has a nice wavy pattern on the front that you can't see in the pic either.
08-11-2006, 11:50 PM
melissa, i love it!! and you two did it as a team. what are you going to build now?
08-12-2006, 01:07 AM
Wow - Melissa - super job - I LOVE the shelves - and I have always loved that 'built in' shelf look - great job on the colors too! (yes I could see the difference in colors - but not sure where I am looking for the wavy molding?)
We are back from our outing! The most exciting part was actually finding a very decent parking spot at 8 pm in the market on a Friday night! I noticed someone who looked like they were leaving? ....and that was that!
Had a nice walk around the market and a visit to my favorite store - and this is the real name: Boutique Frou Frou (need I say more?) - very cute stuff esp the purses and shoes - but the 'boys' got bored there so we left after a few minutes. Kids then hauled me into their FAVORITE stores - got ds a hoodie and 2 t-shirts for dd ($120 dollars later....). The best part was when the sales guy (young latin american?) told dd she had a nice mother (nothing like shmoozing up the Mom when she's shopping)...and did she appreciate me? And did she ever cook for me? or bring me flowers just because? I just loved it of course!
Then to Lush (www.lush.com) to get a pack of those lovely smelling bath bombs for my sil as a gift (since she was not with us :() and my brother was looking for a belly ring for her as she lost part of her belly piercing ring thing (from that very flat tummy of hers) and said it would grow back - so he was on a mission - found a very funky jewellery store (I could barely leave they had lots of sparkly baubles, bangles, earrings and watches!) and he bought her one there.
Then the hunt was on for a dinner place - first spot (Blue cactus - mexican place) had a 45 min wait (it was about 9 pm by now) - too long - off to the japanese place - a bit of a wait - but food was very good - everyone had fun - altho I still found the place a bit busy and noisy - I was hoping for a more serene/quiet atmosphere - hard to hear my brother regaling us with tales of our childhood -too funny - yes I remembered him throwing the shoe at me when I opened his bedroom door to bug him (yet again) and it hitting me in the eye! The kids were hysterical hearing all of this!
Drove home the long way along the canal - very pretty at night - all lit up - and now home. Can't sleep cuz ate too much too late? Need to digest some.
Up bright and early tomorrow - going to little village - 1 hr away - having a huge puppet festival tomorrow - should be fun. I am considering going to the gym if I wake up early enuf - but will sleep in it if happens.
My leg/muscle spasm thing still bugging me on and off - I shall call dr on Monday if it doesn't let up!
Hoping for nice weather tomorrow!
08-12-2006, 10:18 AM
Frouf, sounds like you're having a wonderful visit with your brother. It's so good to laugh at the past. Guess you're off to Almonte today. Looks like another nice one.
Melissa, the colours came out good, and again, hats off to you and Aaron. I guess you're week off is winding down now, any plans for the weekend?
Kathy, can't believe that Shaun is actually close to departure day. It seems like so long ago that you talked about getting him into training. Sounds like things have been quiet at your home front for a while.
Niki, how are you feeling, hon? Hope you got to the doctor. I thought I might be coming down with something yesterday, but so far, so good. Is ds feeling better?
Sandra, sounds like yesterday was fun for all. You're such good grandparents. I'm sure Texas will be really special for you. They'll be so delighted to see the new and improved version of you.;)
I called and invited Natan to spend the afternoon here. It will allow the kids to go to a movie. It's going to be nice, so we'll at least go to the park. Maybe I'll take him over to his cousin's house. It seems so weird to have my "other kids" here, but I'm sure that I'll get used to it real soon.
Hey Vickie, what's happening. I'm off to take a bubble bath, and every time I put the bubbles in, I think of you.:)
08-12-2006, 11:01 AM
Good Morning Chicks! I finally figured out what was wrong with my computer. I had to delete my temporary internet files. This morning 3FC is working fast. I don't understand why only this site was slow. It must have something to do with the fact that I come here more than any other site and lots of these files must have been stored.
We had a nice evening of togetherness. We watched the entire Sox game since it was so important to us. We won and even had a no hitter going until the 6th inning. Usually, we tape it and then check in periodically. We are playing the team ahead of us in first place so today and tomorrow's games are important as well! Enough baseball.
I didn't have a great eating day. I picked at some non-Core things and I haven't been keeping close count of my 35 WPA's. That's why I need to go back to a meeting. I don't regulate myself closely enough when I'm not going to meetings. I'm doing great with portion control though. I'm not as hungry or obsessed as I was on flex but I'm still watching. I'm a little hungrier than before but not horribly so. I'm eating more often. Yesterday, I ate about 5 or 6 times. It's a great program if one follows it!
Today, I have shopping and errands to do because I was a lazy bum yesterday. I'm making a Froufie roast today and roast chicken tomorrow. My favorite chicken from Rosebud farms is on sale so I need to go get it. I also need some fruit and veggies which I'll get on the way home.
I had a long bubble bath and talked to my friend working on his life changes. He hadn't done much. I told him that he was lucky he wasn't married to me. He just laughed!
Let's see what I missed!
08-12-2006, 11:35 AM
Saundra, Jim IS doing better. Thanks for asking. He is enjoying driving again very much. He's trying to be moderate with taking back his life but I know it isn't easy for him. I know what you mean about the heat packs. We have ice packs here. Last night I iced my hip and my knee and he did his shoulder. We are a beautifully matched pair! I'm sorry to hear that your foot still troubles you. Have you tried Birkenstock? I love mine and have about 6 pairs. They are a bit hard to get used to but once they mold to your feet (with your body heat and weight), they are divine! I've been told by the Rep on QVC that you have to bend the front with your hand a bit to get them a little softer. Jim said that a young girl came into PT with foot pain. The Therapist asked if she wore flip flops all the time and the girl admitted that she does. Apparently, the Therapist was very stern and concerned and said that she would have completely flat feet if she kept it up. The Therapist recommended Birkenstocks too. I don't have orthotics but I do have heel spurs in both heels. I got New Balance walkers with a special insert $25 and they seem to be working great. Your roast sounds amazing. You made me get a taste for a roast which is why I'm having a Froufie roast today! Have fun with Natan.
Angela, I SO admire you for having DH change your password! I know it couldn't have been easy. I have an addictive personality too, so I understand how you are feeling. It's sweet that you shared it with us....we always want to be that great support structure for each other. I'm sure that some of it isn't your fault though. I have read that something happens to the brain when playing and for some time afterwards that causes a bit of an addictive reaction. Good for you! Maybe you'll turn your energy toward creating new Core recipes for us to try. How's your Mom doing? Sorry I missed your dinner menu question last night. I would have gone for the Core green beans and the WW dessert. No one ever knows and if they do, they enjoy it anyway. I have the most FABULOUS WW blueberry pie. I've not checked the points on it in a long time but people used to BEG for it. How did dinner go? Niki, I hope you and DS are feeling better! Summer colds and infections are just horrible.
Kathy, I double check all medical bills. I trust no one when it comes to my money! Jim laughs because my annual budget is on excel spreadsheets. I keep track of each reimburseable purchase. Now I'm tracking our medical spending/travel for taxes. This will be the first year that we'll probably be able to claim it. It's quite an elaborate spreadsheet considering that I taught myself Excel. Jim calls my system Vicken! I love homemade bread. My Sister used to make it for us and we'd eat it up before the next loaf came out. Not everyone can do it. I think it takes special hands. What time should I be there for the next loaf? What did you end up eating last night?
Melissa, Jim and I are homebodies too! We love to snuggle inside. Isn't it so much more fun when you have a wonderful place that you love to be? Those shelves are spectacular! I didn't know what to picture when you would talk about how Aaron was wrestling with them. What a wonderful job he did. They look custom built and will definitely add to the value of your house. Tell Aaron that he should be very proud of himself. And great job to you on color selection!
Sandra, I REALLY proud of you for not letting that one silly pound slow you down. Before, you might have viewed that as a reason to give up. You are really an inspiration. I'm happy that you have such fun with the Grandkids. You are giving them some great memories!
Frouf, did you have two fingers up? I've made a note of your millionaire specialties. Jim is getting nervous and doesn't want to think about it anymore until after Tuesday. He thinks he'll get so nervous that he won't pass the audition. I'm glad that you're having such a great time with your Brother. It gives the kids a chance to hear about another side of you. I'm glad the clerk let your DD know how much she should appreciate you. Maybe the seed has been planted? We can only hope. Great job on the BBQ. I'm sure you'll use it alot. Did you get charcoal or gas? I'm sorry about your leg. Kathy's right. If you can't reach it to rub it then it might be nerve pain. I had that in my foot for a long time. It finally went away....by itself I think. It was weird and painful, like electric shocks. I'd still call the Doctor if I were you and if it doesn't go away.
I make my potatoes between lumpy and smooth and I always use warm milk. I peel and cube the potatoes before I boil them. I always use red potatoes but today I'm going to try Yukon Gold as an experiment. I generally used some points to add some Smart Balance light for just a bit of butter flavor. I melt that before hand to make sure it is warm too. I also add a bit of FF sour cream to make it be a bit creamier. First I warm the margarine and milk then I stir in the sour cream and let that sit in a bowl until the potatoes are ready to mash. I use a hand mixer on medium.
Whew! I was WAY behind. I'm going to go eat breakfast now. Do we have a menu thread?
08-12-2006, 11:45 AM
Enough baseball? Whatchutalkin'bout, Willis? You can never have enough baseball!!! We also won last night and it was quite a game! It was a very easy start with us up 10-0 by the end of the second inning, but then they scored 6 in the 4th and we were like uh-oh! All ended well though with a 14-7 win. Whew! We're 5 games back but doing well, so there's still hope.
I was a little miffed this morning when I stepped on my little friend, Mr. Scale, and saw 144.8. Harrumph! The nerve of him -- I demand nothing less than total loyalty so he'd better watch his Ps and Qs or he'll be outta there! This time last week was 143.0. What's a girl to do????? Oh, wait, I remember: keep plugging along. Yeah, that's it. Most of it is probably salt from that darn Mexican food. I'll drink extra water today to see if I can get rid of it.
Yep, Shaun leaves in 9 days. I asked him what time of day, and he said probably 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Then I asked if I should take off work and he said why would you? Oh, I don't know, but nevermind. See ya, I guess! Some friends are taking him out tonight and I told him STAY OUT OF TROUBLE! We don't need ANY mess-ups!
Okay, I guess I'd better get to work. I have a few things stacked up that I was going to get out of the way this morning; I'm only working until noon or so.
08-12-2006, 11:49 AM
good morning. i'm up early to get ready to go to a baby shower brunch. curtis is on the treadmill. he's decided to do more exercise. yesterday he was in a lot of joint pain. i hope today's better for him.
saundra, have fun with natan. i envy your living so close to him. you are lucky to get to spend quality time with him often. i'd also like to suggest SAS shoes. this summer i've been wearing them without my orthodics. curtis now wears them, too. my podiatrist said he was pleased we're wearing them.
frouf, i was at the market with you last night. well, i felt like it. i love reading your adventures. and a frou frou place? didn't we have fun there!!
vickie, you're right. those meetings are almost like magic. i give a lot of credit to what i'm doing now to going to meetings regularly. you're going this monday, aren't you? i think you'll feel much much better when you walk in that door. it's not easy to go back. sort of like going back to church when you've been wayward awhile. but when you get back--you'll feel soooo good. this baby shower is going to be a good test for me today. i have no clue what there will be to eat. guess i'll just deal with it. i hardly ever use the 35 wpa's. i may have to this week. we'll see.
good success to your sox.
i'll go look for the menu thread.
08-12-2006, 11:55 AM
kathy, we must have been posting same time. good morning. i wouldn't worry about the scales this am if i were you. it has to be the mexican food and will come off quickly. are you going to have a family get together for shaun before he leaves? it won't be long now, will it? he's going to have a good experience. maybe this will be just what he needs. i hope so.
we kept up with the ranger game last night on the espn ticker. i have a question about the cowboys. did they trade keyshawn johnson? is that why they got terrell owens? just wondering. i hope terrell behaves himself. i remember deione being a whiney baby when he was there. big toe kept him from playing. emmitt was playing with a broken bone. (i'm getting wound up, aren't i?)
08-12-2006, 12:06 PM
Hoo boy, whiny baby doesn't even begin to describe him, in my opinion! I'm so glad Deion's gone! I'm not so sure it was that much of a trade though; Johnson for Owens, I mean. We released Keyshawn because he wanted too much money, right about the time that the Eagles released Terrell. After Keyshawn was gone, it freed up enough money for Terrell. I wish he had gone to Denver instead of here, but since I don't really follow football all that much, it won't matter to me. Fortunately I'll get a teeny break between the end of baseball and the beginning of basketball.
I'm not sure if we'll have a hoopla for Shaun or not. He's also going somewhere next Friday night with some people, then Saturday Judd has a bike ride in the morning and we're taking a washer/dryer to Kate in the afternoon, then Sunday Judd has his fantasy football draft and will be gone all day. I don't think Shaun would want anything though; he usually stays in his room and keeps to himself. He's not much for coming out and socializing with the rest of us.
Okay, back to work. I just went over and gave a loaf of bread to a man we work with; he's the one who brought us food while I was off work and we sometimes do things with him and his wife, although they're quite a bit older than we are (especially Judd). They don't live far from us so when they go on vacation, Judd takes care of their house and cats. Anyway they're very nice and he was giddy about the bread.
08-12-2006, 12:16 PM
Holy crow, I just cleaned, cleaned, and did some more cleaning, what's got into me????
Slowly, but surely, things are looking better. I actually bought a paper shredder yesterday. I had so many old visa bills and other personal stuff, that I got nervous about throwing them in the garbage. Trip to Walmart, and $29.99 later, there all gone!
Oh, the specialist said that my Clarkes are good. I have two pair and they give good support.
I think I'm ready for my little man now, so I better call and see when I can expect him.;)

Kathy, your scale will come back down. That salty food is just deadly. I can't believe only 9 more days for Shaun. It's sad that he doesn't want a send off. Oh Well....everyone is different. The Rangers are still in the hunt. I never give up until my team is mathmatically eliminated. I'm one of THOSE fans. Hmmmm....sounds like my personality in general, doesn't it? I guess my loaf of bread will be ready any time now? I'm SURE ;) that I have enough points left. :D
Sandra, I hope you enjoy the baby shower. It's so much fun when they are in the expectant stage! I hope Curtis is feeling better. I know the treadmill will make me feel better too. I'm not sure if I'm going back this Monday or next. It's definitely no later than the 21st. I've decided for sure.
Saundra, I needs some cleaning encouragement. I just don't want to right now. Probably if I got started it would be good! I have Clarks too. They are my second favorite type of shoe. Jim and I are on about our 3rd shredder. We feel the same way you do. All of that stuff gets shredded. It's right in here next to my computer.
Well, my Honey Lamb went to get the roast for me. Now I have to Froufify it (you know it must be rubbed up!) before I go out for the rest of the stuff. I'm not sure if he's coming with me or not. The Sox game came on at 12:15 and he's watching it very carefully!
I'll be back later.
08-12-2006, 06:04 PM
Oh where oh where could my little friends be......
I'm off to cook dinner soon. I likely won't be back until tomorrow.
I hope you all have a great evening. I'm going to go make a menu thread since we don't have one. Is that a bad sign?
08-12-2006, 06:12 PM
Hi, I'm here! Just enjoying my Saturday. I made a Wal-Mart run with just my youngest dd, and then we hit a garage sale and got some great girl clothes, including a very nice winter coat. I think I got 12 pieces of clothing, the coat, some shoes for me and a purse/checkbook thing for me all for $5. Not bad at all. I'm not usually a garage sale person, because it's too difficult to wrangle all the small children in and out of the car etc, but I'm glad I visited this one.
I am quite afraid to weigh myself, and I think I shall abstain for a bit longer. I am struggling with caring about my eating, but this will change soon, I promise.
I am enjoying day 2 of my "freedom" from my computer game. :) The weather is beautiful here today - sunny but not too hot, and nice and breezy. It's not really typical August Iowa weather at all, but I'll take it!
I'm making salmon patties for dinner, along with some kind of veggie. Oh yes, and my dinner last night went very well. I decided on the green beans with almonds, because I thought they'd appeal to more people, but I will try the other recipe next green bean harvest. (like in 3 days  )
Off to get a drink of water,
08-12-2006, 06:38 PM
My steaks are ready for the barbeque, the roasted potatoes are done and on warm, and the sweet onions are marinating. The salad is on the table and my wine is chilling. Now, I just have to wait for Bernie to get home and I'll finish everything and we'll eat, yummy!
Angela, we're also having a sunny and cool August day.:)
We go away to Picton again on Friday, so lets hope that the heat returns.
08-12-2006, 07:09 PM
Angela, you and me, girlfriend! I'm afraid to even weigh tomorrow morning, let alone Monday morning for the official weekly weight. All I can hope for is that "something" kicks in soon ... and I decide that I really need to meet my goal. Oh and in case you think my goal is 145? That was the WW goal. Mine is 135. Yep, a whopping 10 pounds lower.
Tomorrow is another day.
08-12-2006, 08:32 PM
Hi ladies, ds has strep throat so he is on antibiotics his cough is still terrible so I just called the pediatrician and he called in a med at the pharmacy for his cough and my mom went to pick it up. Went to my dr today because my throat is on fire and I am having shooting pains into my ear, they did a strep test and gave me antibiotic which I brought in to get filled, we had some errands to do and I did not know the pharmacy closed at 6pm on Saturdays, when I got there at 6:01 it was already closed if I would of known I would of taken it to the one my mom is heading to know, I will have to wait till tomorrow morning to get it now.
Will try to check back later, feeling kinda crummy
08-12-2006, 10:37 PM
Niki, I hope it gets better for you all soon!
We had a game delay for the Rangers -- but did we get rain at the house? Nooooo ... too much to ask, I suppose! It did get a little cloudy but that's all. The only rain we got to see was on the TV, and now it's over and the game has resumed. Oh well ... do you suppose someday we might get relief here? It's 8:36 p.m. and still 95 degrees.
I hope everybody's having a good evening.
08-12-2006, 11:22 PM
kathy, thank you for the sports report. i am a cowboys fan but haven't kept up with them well since moving to montana. i guess i need to check them out on the net more. we don't get many of their games up here. we get more vikings, packers, seahawks and broncos. i don't think montana really knows which team to support. lol
saundra, i guess you and natan are having a good day.
curtis and i went out to lunch after i got home from the baby shower brunch. (i only had a glass of water there. i wasn't hungry and no one really cared. i just carried a glass of water around with me.) we went to golden corral. i did all right there but came home and had 2 corn dogs for dinner. that wasn't a very good decision but i counted the pts. i told curtis i'd like to go biking tomorrow. it's cool enough now. that will be good exercise. he needs to exercise even more than i do. he's been aching a lot. we think he needs to work on getting his bod in shape.
vickie, your froufie roast sounds good. sounds like you and jim are having a relaxing saturday watching your sox. makes me smile.
angela, what wonderful bargains you got! that's great. at our ww meeting yesterday our leader suggested that all new lifetime members come to weekly meetings for at least one year. that way they will have dealt with all special occasions once before they venture out on their own. i had heard that before from another leader. i think it's a good idea.
nikki, i hope you all get better soon.
08-12-2006, 11:52 PM
Wow - with all the home baked bread and amazing mashed potatoes made by Vickie I am simply salivating! (okay now just fry up some onions throw them in and I'm there! :D). ...and never rub a Froufie roast against the grain! ha ha ha
Kathy - hope Shaun behaves himself and makes it thru the next week - I would definitely stay home and escort him if required. Hope the clouds come your way!
Saundra - your dinner also sounded great - sounds like you and Natan are having fun times. Lovely cooler weather today - warmer tomorrow I here - and of course sending vibes for great weather for your Picton trip.
Angela - great bargains at that garage sale! Good for you...and I too am not getting on that scale for a few days at least. After having nachos for lunch and ice cream this afternoon I know it won't be pretty!
We went to a small town about 45 mins away (where sil's family lives) and this weekend they had this AMAZING puppet festival (Saundra - Almonte - definitely keep your eyes open for this as your 'kiddies' would love it - or try and get there tomorrow!).
They have the main streets blocked off - with buskers and stilt walkers and clowns strolling around - and then around 4 different tents/venues set up for different puppet shows.....some from Brazil and San Francisco - they were so entertaining and cute - and we're not talking 'regular' puppet shows - these are with stick figures and people on stage too - great props and extremely creative puppets. Turns out sil's cousin is some amazing puppet maker and has a studio at her home and designs puppets for many major tv productions!
Dh didn't enjoy it that much - older kids were okay - but little ds was just guffawing most of the time...and I just loved the story lines and scenery and puppets.
It was a bit cool out tho - quite windy - but better that than roasting hot.
We stayed til around 5:30 pm then headed home....I made some more pasta as most were clamoring for more of my spaghetti sauce - I sat out dinner - but was starving later on so made some french toast (now digesting).
Doing the airport run at around 4:30 am!!! (they wanted to take a cab but we insist on driving them)......lots more funny stories around the table tonight - about my brother trying to help my dad install airconditioners.....and unplug the backed up sewers - I was just crying with laughter! (my brother is so funny and such a great storyteller - Sandra - if you like my stories you would LOVE his descriptions of life!).
I am sad to see him go tho - and will get choked up when I have to say goodbye - he's really all I have left as close family goes!
Tomorrow we are going to Jackson's christening - big party afterwards - and I doubt Sandra I will just have a glass of water? Hopefully I can control myself and get back on track. I am also packing the bathing suits and gear just in case we stay later and "invite' ourselves for a swim?? Dh has to leave early cuz he has a gig tomorrow afternoon so probably just little ds and I.
Then back to work on Monday - UGH!!!!!!
08-13-2006, 12:22 AM
Frouf, I'm glad that you had such a great time with your brother!
Sandra, congrats on your self-control at the baby shower.
Kathy, I hope that you didn't work too hard today. :) Sorry the rain didn't come your way.
Vickie, busy, busy! I'm so glad that Jim is doing so well. I know you will be relieved to have him more mobile as well. :)
Saundra, I hope that you had fun with Natan today!
We've had an interesting day! We're trying to find baskets to go underneath the shelves, and you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to find 4 or 6 matching baskets that are sizeable enough for what we want. We finally found some that are good enough tonight at Bed, Bath, and Beyond tonight. $160 for four!! But we saved so much with Aaron doing the shelves, I guess we can splurge on those. I'd rather get something we'll love long-term that a short-term cheap solution.
Well I think I'm going to get to work putting some things on the shelves. Either that or bum out! :D One day left on vacation.....
08-13-2006, 12:39 AM
Ack! One more day!
We just finished a nail-biter of a Rangers game and am glad it's finally over. Judd is talking about going to work tomorrow so if he does, so will I. That way I'll get ahead on the hours next week.
I suppose Shaun has gone out; I don't hear him and Erin said she saw him dressed and loitering near the front door earlier. I went to the store to get one or two things and I guess he left during that time. He knows what has to be done and had better do it; I'm not interested in having any trouble.
We're planning a Labor Day party so lists are being made and food is being planned. At least we have a while to think about it.
08-13-2006, 12:23 PM
Good Morning Chicks! I slept until 8:45. I had weird icky dreams and my shoulder is still killing me. Jim is afraid that I've done something to my rotator cuff just like him. Same shoulder too! I'm going to baby it and ice it for the next month (if it takes that long) and if it doesn't get better, I'll go for the MRI. I don't have the patience to live with it as long as Jim did. I'm hoping I just have a serious strain. A couple weeks ago, I picked up Julianna (50 pounds) to help her sit on a public toilet and it's been hurting since then. I'm thinking positively that I'll be fine. I'm just a really slow heal. My point was that it is seriously affecting the quality of my sleep since it happens to be on my favorite sleeping side. Is it always something?
The Niece has been trying to get us to come over for pizza for a couple of days now. So far I've resisted but we are going today. I haven't decided on whether or not I'll be splurging on pizza. I don't think I will. I have one more slice of tamale pie in the freezer. I'm thinking that I'll bring that with and have that instead.
Our plan is to watch the DVD of Julianna's dance recital from Father's Day that Jim and I missed because we were babybsitting for the other two kids. Then we are going to play Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture II to try to get Jim brushed up on his pop culture before Tuesday.
I'm hoping to get a short swim in this afternoon. It won't be easy getting out of the pool with this shoulder though. I'm thinking the water aerobics would be good for it as long as I don't go crazy.
Ok, I have to go eat breakfast since I'm at least very hungry if not starving. I'll be back to catch up!
08-13-2006, 12:23 PM
Good morning, all! I hope everyone is having a really good day and got lots of sleep last night.
I am thinking this will be a lazy day here -- it's just too darn hot to go outside. We probably need to go over to Fort Worth to Judd's parents' house; MIL is going to use the Arbonne kit for a while to see if she likes it, then we'll place our order with Colo SIL. Erin is also interested. I'm not going to sign up right now because Erin thinks that if she likes it, she might sign up to buy her own products. I should also pull some grass that's trying to creep into the flowerbeds but if I do, it'll be much later tonight.
And then other than the usual laundry, cooking dinner and cleaning up, we have nothing much that really has to be done. That's good because I have to get to work early tomorrow. Oh wait, speaking of work, Judd said we might go in today. Ack! Well, if we do, that will only make next week a little easier so I'm all for it.
I'll check back later to see if anyone has surfaced!
08-13-2006, 12:24 PM
Hey, there's one now!! That's stinky about your shoulder! And yes, I agree -- if it's not one thing, it's 40 others! What is it about being this age?
08-13-2006, 01:03 PM
Im back from the city..had a great time. Went to see a movie, (taladaga nights..dont waste your money, see it on video) , ate at a sushi place..yum, and found a farmers markey and brought home tons of veggies and fruit, jam, garlic, bread, cheese and pesto. Its all good!! If gas wasnt soo expensive I would like to go more often , its about 2 hours from us.
Vickie, sounds like sympathy pains for Jim...that sucks about your shoulder. I agree about resting it up and iceing it. Good luck to Jim on tuesday..how exciting!!
Kathy, sunday is a day of rest..haha
Melissa, wow, $160 on baskets.. hope they are full of towels or something for that price..haha
Saundra, wow wow wow,,look at you!! what a great pic!!
Sandra, tell dh to go jump in a lake.haha..you can certainly tell the weight difference no matter what size the pic is.....you are doing amazing!!
Im making the cornmeal chicken again for supper with veggies from teh market. Tomorrow night Im trying the froufy roast!@
08-13-2006, 01:35 PM
Patti, I'm SO glad you liked the cornmeal chicken! Did you eat it cold LO? Jim and I like it almost better that way. It'd be a great Core picnic item. Be careful not to use too much flour on the Froufie roast. I once screwed up and it wasn't tastie. Now I just add enough to make it not runny. The smell of garlic in here yesterday was unbelievable! Of course, I use more garlic than the recipe calls for.
Kathy, I never thought about the age angle. I'm kind of sick of it. That's why I need to get my butt in gear and get healthy.
08-13-2006, 01:43 PM
Me too!! If anything this week has reminded me that I want to get thinner and healthier!
Sorry your shoulder is bothering you Vickie. I hope that you get to do some swimming today and that it helps works out some of the "kinks." :)
Kathy, you say you're going to be lazy but it doesn't sound like it! :D Have fun today, whatever you end up doing!
Patti, glad that you had a good time in the city.
It's going to be SO hard to go to bed tonight and get up early tomorrow. We've been staying up REALLY late and getting up really late too. Last night I couldn't go to sleep until after 4am!! That won't cut it tonight, that's for sure.
We're off to buy our $$ baskets and maybe grab some groceries for some freezing. Hope that everyone has a great day.
08-13-2006, 01:50 PM
Angela, congratulations on being game free for 2 days! Sometimes I think I spend way too much time on the computer too. It'll be different when I go back to meetings. I'll be forced to exercise and that will take time away from here. You did great at the garage sale. I'm usually a seller. I should drag Jim to one sometime. I hear you can get some great items if you know what you are looking for. I'd also love to go to an auction. We watch Cash in the Attic and I usually get a big kick out of it. I got on the scale today and it's still up. Must be real weight. I guess that means tamale pie for me for dinner tonight!
Saundra, your dinner description is right out of an advertisement for "Life is Good"! I hope it was as tasty and romantic as it sounded. We've had no heat here for over a week. There's nothing over 82 for the next week. That's nice and warm but not enough for swimming without a pool heater. Bummer.
Niki, I hope you got your medicine and that you and DS are already feeling better. I've heard that medicine works quickly.
Sandra, it sounds like you might have let yourself get too hungry? I lose my resolved when my belly is growling at me. It sounds like you had the points to cover it though. Good job!
Frouf, the puppet show sounded like SO much fun! I would have enjoyed it immensely. I'm sorry you had to put your brother on the plane this morning. I've been there and it's SO sad. My first fiance lived and worked in New Orleans and it was REALLY hard to put him on the plane to go back to NO!
Melissa, nice baskets are expensive. I think you got a decent deal. I hope you at least had one of those 20 percent off coupons that BBB always has out.
Kathy, a Labor Day party sounds fun! What time should we arrive? I'm sure my family will plan something but they are more the last minute kind of folks. I'll be at Wicked on the 2nd. Are you going to work today?
I think I'm caught up! Woo Hoo!
08-13-2006, 01:56 PM
Mine's up too this morning, Vickie, so I'm thinking I have undone some of the progress just by being stupid. Calories aren't too far out of whack, but what makes up the calories is the problem! Suffice it to say that, since I am determined not to undo anything, I'll be on the straight and narrow for quite a while.
Judd says no to work, so we're not going! I'll be going to CVS in a while to buy Cokes for work and then to Kroger to buy Dr. Pepper for work (and some for Erin). Both places have them for $2 a 12-pack so I need to stock up for our little private breakroom.
I need to thaw some fish for dinner tonight, figure out the vegetables, and then make tuna salad for lunch tomorrow. I think everything else is set.
08-13-2006, 01:57 PM
I wish I had a coupon, Melissa, because I'd mail it to you. You could save $32 on your baskets. They have some on Ebay but you'd have to wait for those too. Bummer. I normally get mine in the mail (once you start shopping there) or in the Sunday newspapers.
08-13-2006, 02:03 PM
Ok...I'll be off blueberries for a while. I was picking them to eat for breakfast (out of the container not off the bush!) and in the bottom was a very large beetle type icky looking bug. I threw them all away because I'm a psycho! I have a REALLY weak stomach. I know bugs get on/in produce but I do NOT want to hear about it or see it! Yuck...yuck...yuck...yuck!
So I made Core Cornmeal pancake recipe that I got from BCB. They were all cornmeal and dry as dust. Oh well.....I do love to try new recipes. This one will not be a keeper. So far my favorite is the oatmeal and cottage cheese one. I almost always have cottage cheese here.
So I guess I'll be back on bananas for a while with my breakfast. They have those nice little safe jackets to keep bugs out. If you've gotten a bug inside your banana, PLEASE I'm begging you.....don't share the story!
08-13-2006, 02:31 PM
 No, I haven't seen a bug inside a banana! I think you're pretty safe there! I'm the same way as you though -- one time I got one of the kids a baked potato at Wendy's and it had a HUGE black spot on the bottom. In fact, the bad spot was bigger than the good part of the potato but since it was on the bottom, we didn't see it until she was about halfway thru the potato. Talk about not wanting a baked potato for a loooong time! It was NASTY!
08-13-2006, 02:36 PM
I'm still a little queasy thinking about it. I'm off to plug in the vacuum for the pool. I'm determined to go in for a short run and a vacuum before I shower to go to the Niece's. I'm looking foward to going and now I'm guilt free since I decided to eat the tamale pie.
I'm guessing I won't be back for a while!
08-13-2006, 02:36 PM
Oh yeah....I could use a nasty potato to get me off of my potato kick!
08-13-2006, 03:40 PM
Its raining here and just a tad cool...i actually have jeans on today for the first time in ages. I use chicken breasts for the cornmeal chicken Vickie, I know you prefer thighs though and I prefer it hot. But, I have had it cold on salads.. thanks for the top about the flour. Ill keep in in mind.
08-13-2006, 06:17 PM
hi there, chickies. i have sprinklers going front and back. it's a busy sort of day today for us. i'm not struggling with being op as much as i was yesterday. it was funny. i didn't have any problem at all at the brunch. afterwards we ate lunch at golden corral. i did well there, too, but left hungry. my fault. i should have eaten more salad or something. i came home hungry for the carrot cake they had. results--32 pts yesterday. i don't normally use those wpas but i did then. oh, well. life goes on. vickie, you were right. my tummy was growling at me.
patti, it's good to have you home. how are you doing?
vickie, i hope your shoulder gets better on its own and you don't have to have pt or surgery.
melissa, those baskets must be pretty. what are you putting in them? what are you and aaron doing today? i have a lot of questions, don't i? oops! there's another.
kathy, i made a chicken salad today so we'd have it for the week. i like to make ahead, too. i'm glad you didn't go to work. you need a day off.
i guess frouf is taking a nap after her trip to the airport this am. have a good day, all.
08-13-2006, 06:36 PM
Afternoon gals! :sunny:
It's a beautiful afternoon here. We're getting ready to grill out. It's even cool enough to sit on the back porch. Our deck is shaded and in the evenings it's very nice (well if you ignore the Murphy-tall grass in the backyard! :o ). I wanted some steaks but was too lazy to go to the store, so chicken it is. :D
Vickie, thanks for the good words about the baskets. You are so sweet, I did have a coupon. But thank you for thinking of me!! They are very large banana leaf baskets and I like them a lot. They look really good, and will look even better when we have some nice wood flooring. ;) I hope that you are swimming away and have a great time tonight! :bravo: on taking the tamale pie--I'm very impressed.
Kathy, well I hope that you enjoy not working today! You need a day off every now and then girlie! :D I'll have to check out the Kroger sale you mentioned. I should go today but I just don't see it happening. :) Maybe I'll go late tonight (I've gotten into this late-night shopping since we've been on vacation).
Sandra, hi there! I know what you mean about yesterday...sometimes I think it would be better just to have a little bit of something bad that I am craving, rather than come home and eat tons of stuff I don't want (that probably adds up to the same calories!). Congrats on getting back op today. Chicken salad sounds really good! Oh the baskets--I filled them with our dvds and my pampered chef stuff. I'm sure it will all change around but for now that's what's there! I may have to post another picture when we get it all done. DH is working on a frame for one of my photographs right now. We'll hang it over the fireplace when he gets it all done. Eventually we'll build a mantle too.
Well chickies I'm going to clean up the house, do some laundry, and get started on dinner. It's back to the working world tomorrow!! :p
08-13-2006, 06:39 PM
One other thought...this week has made us really consider what we want to be doing with our lives. Our dream is to be self-sufficient and be free to minister to people around us without the confines of our silly jobs. Now doesn't that sound nice? Anyway, we're working on it. Tonight we're thinking about our "game plans" if you want to call them that. I'm working on PC, Aaron is working on his music. Who knows??
I don't know if any of that makes sense to anyone, but I just thought I'd share. Who knows what the future holds?? :genie:
08-13-2006, 08:48 PM
Hi ladies, thanks for the well wishes, ds's cough is alot better he actually slept through the night and I am also feeling alot better, I did get my medicine this morning. Now it is dh's turn to go to the doctor, he is feeling real crummy.
I made the doctor give me the antibiotic you only take for 5 days since I have a wedding to do to on Saturday, I want to be able to have a few drinks since I don't really get to enjoy a night out with my dh that often. This wedding cost $250.00 per person, they have top of the line everything and black tie optional. The parents of the bride are very close family friends and they told us they don't expect people to leave that kind of gift, this is what they want to do for their daughter, could you imagine leaving at least $600.00 a couple for a wedding gift. So I really want to have a good time, my cousin & his wife are taking care of my children, turns out they live 8 miles away from where the wedding is. My dh doesn't drink so I get to enjoy myself
Vickie I forgot to mention that I know alot about music, pop culture, geography, movies& tv, no real specialty just all sorts of trivia. good luck ti Jim On Tuesday.
I will check back in a while, going to see how dh is feeling.
08-13-2006, 09:30 PM
melissa, it makes perfect sense to me. we all have to have dreams and goals. your dreams are becoming goals since you're making plans. i am so happy for you and aaron. you are definitely very focused on what you want. curtis and i spent more time today designing our dream home. if all goes well with the land, it will be our goal home. yes, i understand.
nikki, i'd want to go and have a good time at that wedding, too. you'll have to tell us all about it.
08-13-2006, 10:28 PM
Melissa, of course it makes sense! We all want that and I hope you and Aaron can achieve it. He is such a talented artist (his "Lines" song still plays in my head from time to time) and I know you are motivated with your PS, so I have no doubts that you will be successful.
We went to dinner with Judd's parents and it was nice. They gave him a check for $300 (notice I say "him"??) because he recommended someone to her, they listed their house and she sold it, and this is a referral fee from the commission. Hopefully he'll either share or be wise with it. They gave me some stationary with my name on it, and a set of three iron skillets. Stationary had been part of last year's BD gift and skillets were something they looked for to give me at Christmas last year but couldn't find. We had a great time talking to them.
Afterward, we stopped by a house she has listed that I would LOVE to have. It's old, maybe like 45-50 years old, but just so cool! Judd says it needs too much work; I say we can do it. Here's the listing:
It has a great back yard and an endless pool on the enclosed patio, which we would get rid of. It was $20,000 new and we could get probably $8-10,000 for it, which would help free up some money to do upgrades with. It's a lot less than we could sell our house for, and it's a smaller house but with just the two of us I think it would be fine. I want it. Period. He doesn't. Bigger period. Oh well.
08-13-2006, 11:26 PM
Angela, I was wondering if you had gotten the m.o. for the bra yet. I really hope so because uh, if not ... we have a problem! I still have the other part but if you haven't, could you let me know? Thanks!
I'm ready for bed now and am really tired. Where did the weekend go?
08-13-2006, 11:55 PM
kathy, the house is very cozy looking. looks like it has a big lot, too.
08-14-2006, 12:12 AM
Oh Kathy, I forgot to message you the other day. Sorry! Yes, I got the m.o. and I'm going to cash it tomorrow probably. Thanks so much...I'm glad it worked out for you. :)
08-14-2006, 12:18 AM
Kathy I like it! And your MIL is cute in her picture too. :)
Thanks for your kind words. Aaron said that you could go listen on his website any time. We're looking forward to the future. We're just in a hard crossroads of sorts right now!
Sandra, thank you also. I'm glad that you and Curtis spent time working on your dream home today. It's nice to know people out there "get" dreaming still--it seems like almost everyone thinks you're crazy for dreaming any more. It's like everyone's stuck in a rut where they do what they have to do and don't stretch beyond. I don't want to live like that! :soap:
Niki, I'm glad that you are feeling better today!
I'm working on PC stuff. I should be going to bed but it's not going to happen. I'll be one tired puppy tomorrow but I think I'll have to have one day where I'm all messed up before I can get back on a regular schedule. I didn't get my cooking done today but I did make some extra teriyaki chicken on the grill to take for lunch tomorrow. It's a new day! I'm actually going to weigh myself in the morning and find out the damage. I haven't been on the scale in a long time.
08-14-2006, 09:27 AM
Good Morning Chicks! :coffee: It's gray and gloomy here but I have sunshine :sunny: in my heart. I'm tired....what new... and my shoulder hurts....:blah: :blah: :blah: Jim is feeling pretty good so I can afford to baby it a bit.
Jim has PT today and so I'll be making a Walmart run and a trip to the library. It's Chipotle night so I don't have to cook. I've decided to go back to WW next Monday, no ifs ands or buts! I was so swollen in my hands last night that I could barely get one of my rings off. I guess I'm going to have to work on my salt addiction. :( Tonight we'll be having some alone date time!
Let's see how all of you were late yesterday!
08-14-2006, 09:42 AM
Good morning all
We went to Ogdensberg, N.Y. yesterday so I could get groceries. I found the border tougher than usual. (getting into U.S.) They wanted to know what was on our passport and when we were in Mexico? Anyhow, we spent $90.00 on stuff and after coming back to Canada we're on the road home, when I realize that I forgot the puddings! Hey that's a big deal. We'll have to go back in September.:)
Yesterday was very pleasant and relaxing. We went to the house to say hi, and they've really finished everything, including the pictures on the walls. Kelly asked, and I had to tell her that some were too high. Today, Kelly's going to work, and Brayden daycare. Normal life begins for them.
Tomomi is in Orlando until Thursday. She works for Apple and there is a big meeting there. I'm sure that Dave will want to bring Natan here a couple of nights for dinner.
Vickie, you're blueberry story is scarry. I made a batch of the muffins yesterday, and my berries were fine.:) You sure had a busy weekend. Hope you got into the pool. I'll swim if it's over 80 outside. I guess you and Jim are excited for tomorrow. Maybe you should check out some PT for shoulder before it gets worse.
Frouf, hope your day was fun yesterday. It was too hectic for us to take Natan to Almonte, maybe next year.
Kathy, that house looks nice. I'm sure that you'd save lots on real estate fees. Looks like houses are more reasonable down your way.
Melissa, sorry that you have to go to work today, I know how you must feel. At least you have a dream, and one day it will happen if you plan for it.
Sandra, you work for your AP's so spending them isn't so bad. Sounds like you had a nice weekend.
Patti, glad you had fun. It's always good to get away with gf. Mine from Windsor is coming on the Wednesday or Thursday before Thanksgiving
weekend. Her fellow will come on the Saturday. I'm looking forward to "girl" time.
Niki, that sounds like quite a posh wedding. It will be a wonderful night out for both of you. Bernie also doesn't drink, good have a dd. We have a do in Toronto the 10th of September. It's "elegant attire" whatever that means. They're having a dj, which to me isn't so "elegant". It's Bernie's family, so I love to criticize.;)
Okay, better have some breakfast now,
08-14-2006, 09:46 AM
Oh Yeah, Melissa's post reminded me that I forgot to tell you all how proud I was of myself last night. I took my tamale pie with and some FF sour cream. I was feeling really hungry so I also brought some FF cottage cheese and peaches. It was a good thing too because they all ate chocolate silk oreo pie for dessert after their pizza! Yikes....I deserve to be down 5 pounds this morning!
Melissa, it sounded like you were working pretty darned hard yesterday afternoon. I hope you got some rest before you tried to go to bed. It's hard enough going back to work after vacation without having to go back exhausted! I admire that you and Aaron have plans and believe it or not...Jim and I still have dreams. They just get a bit less grand the older you get! I'm sorry that you are back at work today. I remember how bad that feels when you are not where you want to be. I'll just keep hoping that PC takes off like crazy for you.
Niki, that sounds like one heck of a wedding! I'd want to go and really party if I were you too. I'm glad that you and DS are feeling better and that neither of your will be contagious any more by Saturday. We played pop culture trivial pursuit last night and Jim didn't do horrible but it's definitely his weak spot. Current music is probably his worst.
Kathy, tell Judd that you know of the perfect vacuum sealer to spend half of that money on! ;) 2700 square feet is SMALLER than what you are living in now? Jim and I have 2500 square feet here and we think it's too much! Is it a step ranch? It's very cute and doesn't look like it needs much and ....I'd be keeping the pool! I'm all for new though since Jim and I are not handy. BTW, that house would sell for about $275,000 in my town. When would you and Judd have time to work on a house doing upgrades? You barely have time to sleep as it is!!!! :D
Ok, I can eat in about 15 minutes so I'm going to go make a menu thread. I have some other business to take care of before I go to get ready for my day. I'm going to have a bit of a soaky bubble bath. My spirit needs some work!
08-14-2006, 09:53 AM
Good Morning Saundra! We were tapping on our keyboards at the same time. I did get into the pool yesterday for about an hour before I had to get ready to go to the Niece's house. It was nice. I got a bit of exercise and cleaned up in there and put in the weekly chemicals. How happy you sound to have all of your family nestled around you. I could never move away from my family. I'm actually kind of glad the border crossing was tougher. I'm really freaked out again by this latest wave of planned terrorism. I'm trying to put it out of my mind. Finding the bug was especially bad because I don't wash all of the blueberries and once. I only wash what I'm using. So I'd eaten 2/3 of the container before I found the bug. Ugh....I could be sick just thinking about it! You and Bernie have some nice things planned. It's fun to have things to look forward to!
08-14-2006, 09:54 AM
Jim IS nervous about tomorrow. He doesn't even want to talk about it.
08-14-2006, 10:37 AM
Yeah, see that house is in a very old part of town and most of the values haven't kept up with the rest. In other parts of Fort Worth, over by TCU which is also older but really nice, it would be a half million or more! MIL sold this house to these same people 9 years ago and is selling it for them again; and a house across the street she sold 27 years ago and just last week sold it again for THOSE people! She has a lot of repeat business because she's just so darn good and dependable. We saw this one empty and it was hard for Judd to picture our furniture, but I had no problem at all. Upstairs there is a really big game room that overlooks the backyard, and two bedrooms. One of them has a HUGE cedar-lined closet off of the regular HUGE closet. It would all be for storage and guests since there's no bathroom up there.
Okay, I need to do a teeny bit of work then will be back to catch up with everyone.
08-14-2006, 10:40 AM
Oh and it's just a few hundred square feet smaller than we have now, but with the configuration it seems much, much smaller. It is a regular two story with a normal staircase that goes the whole height of the first floor. (Does that make sense? In other words, it's not a step or split-level.) We have four bedrooms; this one has four plus a study that could be another bedroom. We have 2-1/2 baths and that one has two. We have four living areas and that one has two down plus the gameroom. Our kitchen is very big with an island (where would I hang my potrack in this house?) and this one seems small. There's a door off of the master bedroom onto the enclosed patio, as well as one from the family room. The trees are GREAT and the grass is perfect St. Augustine. I just really, really like it.
08-14-2006, 10:45 AM
Oh, notice I had to change my ticker. I'm going to keep it honest and on Monday morning, whatever the scale says -- that's what I'm going with.
08-14-2006, 10:59 AM
Kath, I thought the kitchen looked small in the picture. I couldn't live without my big open kitchen. It's a deal breaker. You do sound excited about it though. Maybe she can find something better suited with no work to be done. Then you can both be happy!
08-14-2006, 01:25 PM
Yesterday, I bought some Nweman's mild salsa and today I took a hint from BCB and added some salsa and lime juice to avacadoes for instant guacamole.
It's really good. The medium or hot might have been more zippy!
08-14-2006, 01:37 PM
Hi all: Well back again for a few days and then pack up and leave for the cottage again. You know the only thing about being away so long you lose track of your friends. I notice I do not get the calls any more to go out for coffee etc. We had some wonderful friends living not far from us at the cottage but they had to sell as they were getting too old to look after the cottage. I really felt bad when I heard as we used to play cards and go out trying new restaurants etc. Time does not stand still does it?
There was 14 of us at the cottage this past week. We all had a wonderful time. Sure glad we have two bathrooms now though.
I have just read over the last few days and what a nice group of people you are. I just love reading about your comings and goings.
First of all I want to say, Sandra you have done so well. I wish my Dr. would help. You looked so pretty in your picture.
Saundra, you are a pretty woman also, and have been so successful. Wow, what a nice picture of you and the Bernie. (at least I think it was Bernie) ;) I feel like such a dud, can not seem to follow Core but have decided to try both Core and points, if you know what I mean. It has been especially hard this summer, you should see the food that comes along with the people. :dizzy:
Kathy, as the girls say it must be much cheaper to live in Texas. Our house is only 1400 square ft. and it would probably get us close to $290,000. Our cottage is 1400 square ft. (it is really a summer home) and they are going for $300,000 for the same on our lake.
Kathy what does your mil think, real estate usually have a good idea whether it is a good buy. My Dad was in Insurance and Real Estate for years until he retired.
I was thinking if anyone wants a picture of myself or the cottage etc. I could send it to you. I do not want to put it here. I explained why before. I have sent pictures to Sandra and Saundra. Right Sandra and Saundra? I am much older then most of you gals.
Vicki, what nice person you are, it comes through your posts.
To the rest of you nice girls hello, I am sorry I have not got you all sorted out as yet, but when I come on in the Fall after we stop going away I will get to know you all.
08-14-2006, 02:10 PM
Well, like I said -- it totally depends on the area. That same house could be $160K in one area and $500-600K in another. It's so subjective that it's hard to make a blanket statement like "it's cheaper to live in Texas." Tell that to the folks in Southlake or Colleyville who pay upwards of a million for a normal 3,000 to 3,500 sq. ft. house. MIL would go along with whatever her baby boy says, so no matter what she really thinks, I'm outvoted if he doesn't want it.
08-14-2006, 02:28 PM
Hi Rose - sounds like a rocking good time at the cottage with 14 people! And as for calling friends - hoping you can do some of the calling maybe and start inviting people out for coffee or whatever? I'm sure once they realize you still want to stay in touch they will reciprocate?
Vickie - I commend your guilt free eating - I don't think I could have resisted that pie! Good luck to Jim tomorrow - I know he will do well!
I too would have gone gaga if I saw that big bug! How gross - I know it would also take me awhile before I ate blueberries again!
Kathy - love the 'little' house - not that small tho? But guess if Judd is not interested? So what have you cooked in the new skillets ? :D:D
Niki - glad some of you are on the mend? Guess dh caught whatever is going around - you definitely want to get BETTER before that wedding - cuz you don't want to miss that! I am sure it will be an amazing wedding and you will have a fabulous time! Enjoy!
Melissa - I think it's fabulous that you and dh have goals to put your dreams into place! Good for you - I hope you are successful in whatever you wish to achieve!
Well I am back at work and hating every minute of it! Can't wait to get out of here - just finished getting thru the tons of emails and messages - and found out when I came in that: a) no my new employee is NOT here (seems her management only wanted to let her go for 4 months) and b) I had a telephone interview with another candidate (from Manitoba no less) at 11 and also about 4 phone reference checks to do this afternoon - yippee!
I am trying very hard to get back on track tho - yesterday's eating at the christening party was NOT PRETTY! They were no diet sodas so I decided to have some 'regular' ones and so am now loaded down with sugar! Ugh! Also had some cake and let's not even discuss the chocolate fountain that was set up - funniest was that dh was not there cuz he was playing a gig - and everyone in his family knows of his chocoholic tendencies so they were all feeling bad that he was not there to enjoy it. Big joke was we never would have seen him anyways as he would have planted himself right next to it for the whole day!
Little ds did end up swimming in the pool - 2 other little boys there (his cousin age 11, and cousin's step-cousin? age 10) so lots of splashing (and testosterone male competitiveness) going on! It was a beautiful day - altho not super hot - I had my bathing suit with me - but since no other 'adults' were swimming I didn't dare go in.
The christening was only 15 minutes long - 3 babies - lots of crying and picture taking!
Did not get home til 7 pm as we stayed pretty late at the party - was exhausted of course - esp after being up at 4:30 am to drive brother/sil to airport (and it was super busy there at 5 am!). Threw some laundry in - stripped the beds and all towels - but still went to bed to late and I am feeling it now.
Dh supposed to make a froufie roast this afternoon - as he is going out to a dinner farewell party for a friend later on - and I am planning to go to the gym on the way home. I did not DARE get on the scale this morning as I was already depressed at having to go back to work!
27 days til my 'real' vacation!
08-14-2006, 02:32 PM
Kathy you are right it does depend on the area. If you can not convince hubby maybe something will come up that will even be better. Most of our friends have gone to smaller homes now they are retired. We never did as we just kept the one we had from 1961. We almost moved up but then we decided to build the cottage and we wanted to pay cash for the cottage. I am glad we did now. :smug:
Hi Froufy, sounds like you are looking forward to your "Real Vacation" it should be fun. You are right I should phone my friends but I must say I kind of feel left out. My own fault though.
08-14-2006, 04:21 PM
Hey Chicks! Who says there aren't guardian angels?! Jim was at PT and I was out running errands. I'd gone to Walmart and bought almost a hundred dollars worth of stuff, including heavy stuff that I shouldn't have been lifting. I went to Subway and inhaled a turkey on wheat with tomatoes since I was starving. I'm feeling kind of bad about that but it's over. I pick Jim up at the PT and we go to the bank and then the library. I could have just dropped the DVD off in the bin but I decided to walk into the counter and see if the next one is in for me yet. I'm asking my question and someone grabs my arm.......guess who.....yep....my WW Leader! We have a 20 minute conversation (yes while Jim waits in the car) about everything since I saw her on May 17th. I tell her I'm coming back next Monday and she welcomes me with open arms and tells me that she could use my participation. She gave me a big hug and said she hopes that I really come back.
I told her that I've been afraid to come back....afraid of failing. She said too bad I didn't come back today because the meeting was about facing our fears. We both laughed!
There are no accidents!
08-14-2006, 04:45 PM
Vickie, what a great story. I am a big believer in FATE!
08-14-2006, 04:50 PM
melissa, some people just have a hard time thinking outside the box. i shocked everyone when i retired and moved to montana. now i know of several who have decided to look for adventure. one friend even met a man in a personals ad and got married. she said i inspired her to try it. gave her some courage i guess.
vickie, have fun on your date tonight. my weight was back to where it was before last week so i'm happy. i'm looking for a loss (any loss) this friday. i'm glad you're going back monday. you'll be glad, too.
congratulations on planning and making healthy choices. i'm happy for you.
hi there, rose. it's good to see you back here. yes, you have sent me photos of the cottage. i have to tall all of you, it's gorgeous!! thank you for your compliment. i appreciate it. i'm working pretty hard on this. i am very very lucky to have my doctor's help. i took him some 1 pt brownies the other day. he's a ww'er.
frouf, i would have been standing beside dh at the choc fountain. i've spent many a party standing at the table grazing. i'm glad you're going to the gym today. that will help you feel better. 27 more days? wow!
vickie, i'm so glad you got to visit with your ww leader. i'm sure that made both your days. i knew she was missing you and wanted you back.
we have an archery club meeting tonight. did i tell ya'll we always meet at a restaurant? most folks get pie. i usually swig on a diet coke. i don't always attend but there's to be some important decisions voted on tonight. i may still be wet from w a when i get there. oh,well. life goes on.
08-14-2006, 08:32 PM
My name is Stacey. I'm not new to WW, Core or surfing these boards. I never posted before. I was a lifetime member at goal for almost a year when I moved away from my meeting that I went to religiously for 4 years. I love where I live but haven't been able to find a meeting or leader that matches what I had before. I know that's a lame excuse but in the year that I've been here I've put back all my weight. I'm back on Core but I'm doing myself. I've signed a contract with my friends (Pencil thin ones) so they watch over me. I've lost 3 1/2 pounds in 2 weeks and feel great. I hope to get more support from all of you. I know by reading other posts I'm not alone. Anyway, just wanted to say hi!
08-14-2006, 08:48 PM
Welcome, Stacey!! You will love us -- I just know it! None of us here bite so you're safe!!
I'm finally home from work -- left at 1:00 and it's almost 8:00. I had a whole lot of errands to do that were "work hour" type things, so I just decided to take off and do it all. I found my yocheese maker, Saundra, at about the 4th store I went to! It was $15 but I was so glad to find it that I didn't blink. I also got an egg poacher, avocado scooper thingy (very cool) and a set of 4 mini-loaf pans that are all connected.
I have just finished making 8 loaves of dark beer bread and they're rising now. It was SO quick -- nothing like the ones I made yesterday or Friday. This just went together like magic! I was very impressed and have the recipe if anyone wants it. Not Core, of course, but mine is going to work tomorrow (except I'll be eating some of it with my yocheese) and I'm sure all of you have family members who don't eat Core but still eat healthy. All whole wheat flour, oil, yeast, water, honey, and dark beer. That's it.
Vickie, that's a great WW story! What a freaky thing to see her, but I'm sure it was no accident either! Now you KNOW they've been missing you and so I'm sure next Monday it won't be a problem at all to spring out of bed and go to you meeting!!
I need to go do a few things -- I'll be back in a little bit though. ****'s Kitchen is tonight and that's one of my absolute favorite shows.
08-14-2006, 09:27 PM
:welcome: stacy. i'm a lifetimer re-losing, too. i look forward to reading your posts. be sure to come here often. this board is helping me. i don't think i could be losing without it. everyone here is wonderful.
08-14-2006, 10:22 PM
Melissa, how was your day back to work?
The first four loaves of bread are baking now; the second four will go in soon.
Judd wanted blueberry pancakes for dinner tonight and should be home soon from riding his mountain bike on trails at the lake. He called to say he was off of the trail and would be home in 20-30 minutes. The only other things I have to do tonight are wash/dry/straighten my hair, find clothes for tomorrow, write down the food for tomorrow in case there's anything I need to take to work, and drain the yocheese one more time.
I'm telling you what, if you guys like sour cream you'll LOVE this cheese! I can see putting it on all sorts of things, and I like it just this way, without adding sweetener or fruit. However I can also see using it as a topping for blueberries or strawberries, because the tart and sweet would be GREAT together!
08-14-2006, 10:35 PM
Okay - who has a craving for Yocheese? Raise your hands??? (definitely atop the beer bread of course! :D).
Glad you got all your errands done - but you surely must be exhausted?
Vickie - what a wonderful and fateful visit to the library! I bet you feel a whole lot better now and can look forward to Monday. I don't think there's anything wrong with eating a Subway sandwich - not a bad choice at all and surely could have been worse? Good for you.
Hi Stacey - come on in and sit a spell - please also feel free to visit the coreporate profiles board - read about us and fill one out yourself so we can get to know you better too! You are in good company.
Yes I made it to the gym - forced myself out of the office at 4:45 pm! I can't say I'm trying too hard - keeping pulse rate at about 70% - but some of these women are sure motoring - makes me look like a slowpoke!
Dh did make the froufie roast and I ended up 'carving' it which was not a good thing - cuz I just about had my portion while slicing :D - so a very small portion on my plate - w/corn on the cob and green beans - I did nibble on some of ds' fries which was not a good thing.
Lunch is made for tomorrow but I still need to try harder I think! Not doing a good job of getting down to cruise weight!
Hope to get to bed earlier tonight!
08-14-2006, 11:02 PM
Ok everyone.....fingers and toes crossed until I get home to report tomorrow. We're going to bed early.
08-14-2006, 11:42 PM
Thanks for asking Kathy...it was a really bad day. I handled it fine, but it was pretty bad!! Let's just say I was called several curse words by a client first thing this morning. I've come to the decision that this job does not align with the way I want to live (well, I already knew that) but I have to move on. So the search for a new job continues, again. There is one in my hometown (about 20 mins away) that would be perfect. It's still with my organization (Comp Care) so I could keep benefits, salary, etc. The benefit is that when we have kids MIL could babysit, because I can take them on my way to work. Did all that make sense? I don't really have the qualifications for the job, but it's been open for about a month now and maybe the internal hiring aspect will be a plus for them.
Sorry to be so short but I've got to get some things done. Good night!
08-14-2006, 11:46 PM
Good trivia vibes coming north!! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ GO, JIM!!
And Froufy, LOL! You nut! All of the bread is out and smells just divine!! Judd came home and I made his blueberry pancakes; he quickly ate them after taking a good shower and we're both happier now. After he ate, he sampled the bread and pronounced it as INCREDIBLE! I could tell he really, really liked it. I took a little piece and OMG! Have you ever been to Steak and Ale, or Saltgrass Steak House? You know the brown bread that they serve on the table? This is even BETTER! It was very light with a great texture, such a good taste, and I couldn't be happier because it was very easy. Tomorrow morning I'll stop and get some honey butter because I'll definitely be taking half of it to work.
Well, we hit 104 today. We're expecting 104 again tomorrow, 105 on Wednesday and Thursday, 102 on Friday and then for the weekend they say we'll cool down to 98. Overnight temps are 80 or right above. Of course my electric bill was almost $500 this month; is there any wonder???? We also have natural gas and it was around $50; water was $150. These high temps are enough to make you absolutely sick. $700 for ONE month's worth of utilities -- plus the alarm, phone, DirecTV, internet ... how does a person survive? No wonder I always complain about being broke!!
I never got around to getting my hair done tonight, which means getting up at 5:00 tomorrow morning. UGH! But at least I got dinner, dishes, bread, and laundry done ... and still got to watch ****'s Kitchen. (Go, Heather!!)
See you tomorrow!
08-14-2006, 11:53 PM
Kathy I would love to have the bread recipe! :T And I'll have to figure out how to make the yocheese. I hate yogurt but would love to get some of it down, I know it's good for me.
And your utilities!! That is unbelievable. Bless your heart (and wallet). :)
08-14-2006, 11:57 PM
Good night! You might be gone, but I'll still post the info for both the bread and yocheese. You will love them both -- and good luck staying out of the bread. That's why I made mini loaves ... so I could wrap up all but one and not do much damage. But really now, how bad could it be?
08-15-2006, 12:01 AM
Thanks Kathy. I still eat a lot of bread even though it's not core. At least this way I'd know what's in it.
08-15-2006, 12:12 AM
Katpo's Brown Beer Bread*
1 1/2 c. flat brown beer (Shiner Bock, New Belgium Fat Tire, etc.)
4 cups whole wheat flour
1 package of yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1/4 C. Honey
1/4 C. Vegetable Oil
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast with warm water, add honey and stir. Set aside. Put wheat flour in mixing bowl. Stir in oil, water/honey/yeast mixture and slowly add flat beer. Mix all ingredients together. Place dough on a floured service and kneed for at least 10 - 15 minutes. The dough may need a little more flour added to it if while kneading its sticking to your hands. The finished dough will feel smooth and spongy and will not stick to your hands.
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a cloth until it doubles in size (room temperature only -- don't place in a draft or over a heated area).
When dough has doubled, punch down and knead for a few minutes; divide into four equal parts and shape into loaves. Place loaves on a lightly oiled cookie sheet or in mini loaf pans. Cover again and let rise for 30-45 minutes. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes.
*This is a compilation of a whole bunch of different recipes, so that's why I'm putting my name on it! :D
08-15-2006, 12:14 AM
Thanks Kathy!! After I got off-line I thought about something...PC makes a stoneware mini loaf pan. You might already have something you love, but it looks really neat. I'm sure you have some stoneware so you know how great it is, but didn't know if you knew about the mini loaf pan. Yes, it's a shameless plug, but I thought you might be interested.
OK, really going to bed now!!!
08-15-2006, 12:20 AM
WOW! No, I didn't know that! I will put it on my Christmas list and make sure MIL knows I want it. If she can get bread out of it, she'll probably buy me whatever I want! I took her a loaf of regular wheat bread last night and she was really excited!
08-15-2006, 12:25 AM
I'd be excited too!
Okay, seriously going now...good night!!
08-15-2006, 01:29 AM
My gosh Kathy you are a wonder girl. I read about all you do and marvel and then I say to myself, "Is she for real"?:)
You must have boundless energy. What a girl.:cp:
I would love to make that beer loaf but I never have beer in the house. Hubby is not a drinker, just a glass of wine every once in a while. It sure sounds deli sh though. Maybe I will wander into the Beer store.:D I do not know those brands, maybe they don't have them here.
Guess I should trot off to bed, I love the evenings though. I seem to come alive. Of course it helps knowing that I do not have to get up early.
I am so hungry I could eat anything that was not tied down. I hate this feeling I find I am chewing on my mouth. I feel nervous inside. I do not know how you gals do it. I read some of your menu and think my goodness you don't eat very much. :chin:
Well I have more letters to write, I am helping a lady with genealogy.

Good Morning Chicks! I've been awake since 3:45 and up since 4:15. Not a good night to have one of my "sleepless" attacks. Jim seems to be sleeping peacefully. The alarm is set to go off at 5:00.
I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm just programmed to fret about everything so I'm sure it has to do with Millionaire and travel and potentially going to NY. Ever since I was a little kid I've always worried about things I couldn't control or things that hadn't even happened yet. I'm really not sure that I want Jim or me to go to NY. Nice time to think of it, huh? The state of the world really has me freaked out lately again. I think I got lulled into thinking that everything from a terrorism point of view would be ok. Silly girl!
Anyhow, that's the state I'm in here this morning. I know I'm really nervous because my stomach is in knots and I couldn't even begin to think about food.
I'm going to go do some banking and wait for Jim to get up.

Just a quick good morning all. I've got to get ready for work real soon.
Vickie, good luck vibes going Jim's way. It will be fun! Can't wait to see what happened.
Kathy, you'll love playing with yochee. I've got the bbok, so any questions, fire away.
Melissa, do go for that job. I'd love to see a change for you.
Sandra, you are a WW inspiration, I know you'll be down on Friday.
Frouf, glad you enjoyed the roast. I had lots of beef last week, time to slow down now.
Welcome Stacey, have fun with us!:)

Rose, I had to make a special trip for the brown beer -- and any amber ale will do apparently.
Saundra, I brought some of the plain yocheese this morning with blueberries. Tonight I'm going to try it with some strawberry yogurt that I bought the other day. I probably won't eat it (it's just a big vat of the regular old full-fat Yoplait) but I'm sure either work people or family will.
Locking now -- see you on the new board!
