Can anybody make any suggestions on a good tasting low cal ice cream? Thats one thing I cant give up but I need something with less calories. I tried the Klondike Slim A Bear no sugar, reduced fat ice cream lol long name but it wasnt that great. Ice cream was good but the wafers were just nasty. TIA :D

I always prefer going out for an Icecream (These days I am a huge fan of fat free and sugar free frozen yogurt by Penguin's or TCBY).
I know penguins is only local in los angeles but may be TCBY has stores everywhere (check it on google). They have a big selection of toppings and flavours change everyday.
Its much more fun to have it outside (sit on a roadside patio with family esp in the summers) than indoors.

SKINNY COW ice cream is fabulous IMO. I can't even tell it's low-fat.

instead of going for the low fat label, try the no sugar added or sugar free ice cream. bryers no sugar added is soooo delicious and actually has fewer cals, fat, etc...then the low fat ice cream. just a thought!

I also like Skinny Cow. But, as far as ice cream goes, I've found that I prefer the occasional splurge on the real thing. A properly measured 1/2 cup serving is just enough to satisfy me and the calories are easily fit into my over all plan. It isn't something that I do all the time, but every now and then it really hits the spot.

I like skinny cow, but I don't eat ice cream anymore. Don't know why, I just prefer nuts and yogurt.

Blue Bunny has a reduced fat no sugar added ice cream that comes it at around 110 cals per serving (don't have a tub with me to confirm exact nutrients). It's got less than 4g of fat per serving too and it tastes really good.

I'm boring. I stick to No Sugar Fudgsicles and Creamsicles. The Fudgsicles I get are only 40 calories, and the Creamsicles are only 15.

I recently bought a pint of "Organic Soy Frozen Yogurt" made by WholeSoy & Co (flavor: Swiss Dark Chocolate) at a health food store. Serving size is 1/2 a cup and it has 120 calories, 2.5g of fat (0 trans fat) and 19g of sugar.
It was surprisingly good (very chocolate-y) and rich tasting. It freezes solid as a rock (though, that could be my freezer, LOL).
My DH had no idea it was soy until I told him. He knew it wasn't Ben & Jerry's or something, but he was surprised also that it was frozen yogurt. I like it a lot!
I don't like any of them, unfortunately. I tried Blue Bunny, thought it was horrible. And the lowfat and sugar-free varieties just go 'bad' too quickly. They get freezer-burnt easily. So I don't usually buy that stuff anymore.
Now, what I really like are the Healthy Choice ice cream cones and the ice cream sandwiches. The caramel swirl ice cream sandwich is really yummy.

Another thing I buy are the Edy's Dibs.

These are wonderful and work well for a quick sweet-tooth fix. I keep a container of them around and pop 3 or 4 of them when I need cold and sweet. Only thing with these, though, you need to be REALLY disciplined with portion control because it's easy to sit down and eat too many. But I keep them around for a quickie sweet treat and have no problem eating just a few of them and putting the container back.

Turkey Hill makes this frozen yogurt that's out of this world. It's called Graham Canyon. It's graham flavored frozen yogurt loaded with peanut butter cups and graham swirls. It's so yummy!

I second Turkey Hill--although, I'm not sure it's available everywhere, as I know they're based in PA. I had never heard of it (grew up in CT) until I went to college in PA, so it may be regional.
jellybean416--how weird that our screen names are so similar, PLUS, my boyfriend's birthday is 4/16 :o

jillybean720 - I didn't realize that Turkey Hill wasn't available everywhere. That's too bad because they make alot of different flavors. BTW, it is funny how our user names are similar. I picked jellybean just because I like jellybeans (along with alot of other sugar filled candy. :D ) and 4/16 is my birthday also. Is 7/20 your birthday?

But of course! :)
Also, as someone else mentioned, if you like chocolate, I LOVE those no-sugar-added fudgesicles, and to me, they last longer than a small bowl of ice cream since you suck on it instead of gobbling it down (well, at least I tend to end up gobbling it down ;) ).

I'm a skinnycow gal. So much so, that I can't buy them anymore. The entire thing disappears too quickly. *addicted*

I love the no sugar added fudgesicles also. And your right, they do last longer. The ice cream in my bowl disappears pretty quickly. Sometimes if I remember I'll buy ice cream cones because the ice cream doesn't disappear as fast that way and I'm not tempted to take too much. Whe I have a bowl of ice cream I tend to fill the bowl. :o

I will also agree that skinny cow is great, but I also tried Dryers Slow Churned which is suposed to be lower in fat? or sugar? don't remember which but it was good. Don't have any now to find out the numbers but is was good.

Dreyers slow churn....I portion control by putting it in a small cone...the trick is stopping at 1 cone...

Besides their frozen yogurt line, Turkey Hill also makes a low-fat ice cream that I really like. The Neapolitan and chocolate marshmallow flavors taste and feel like regular ice cream to me. Not like the premium stuff like Haagen Dazs, but like any ordinary brand.
Someone mentioned sugar-free Fudgsicles. I don't like the sugar substitute stuff, but regular Fudgsicles have always been low in fat and calories. I think one is only 60 calories.
