B: Fuji apple (S) with peanut butter (peanuts count, and this is no sugar added...does it count?)
tea (S)

L: romaine salad (S)
olive oil/sun dried tomato dressing by Newman's Own (S)
grilled chicken (S)
fresh pineapple (S)

So I'm at at least 6 so far. For dinner I'm planning on chicken stir-fry (I do not limit my chicken-as-protein to "3-4 times a week") with lots of veggies. Yum!

Alright, dinner changed.

D: lemon-herb chicken, baked (S)
broccoli/cauliflower, steamed (S)
carrots, raw (S)
strawberries & kiwi w/ light whipped cream (S, S)

11 Superfoods--almost everything counts! Yay! I feel really good about today.

Default New Here

I am new here and do not have the books yet as I am broke till next military pay day. LOL But I am going on the info I find online right now and want to go slow anyway. So far this is what I have had today and I need some opinions on it.

Breakfast: Smoothy

1/2 Cup Blueberries
1/2 Cup Yogurt
1 Cup Organic Soy Milk
1/2 Frozen banana
1 tbls Flaxseed Oil

Lunch: Sandwhich
2 pieces 100% Multi-Gran Honey Bread Cals: 220 Fat:3 Carb:38 Protien:10
(I was told to try this kind as I love white bread and was having a hard time giving it up and was wondering what some of the whole food chicks think of it)
1/2 cup Tuna and a little Mayo (Not ready to give up mayo on tuna yet! LOL)
And Roman Lettuce on it.

Not yet sure what I am going to have for dinner but I know my next snack is going to be a plume.

Blessings,
Kontessa

Hi, Kontessa! Welcome and thanks for posting!

I'm somewhat new to SuperFoods (not 3FC), too. I've been hanging here for a while but the Whole Foods thing is a work in progress for me. I have both SuperFoods books but I'm working my way through them slowly. You could get the books from a library, possibly. That's what I did until I could purchase them.

Your breakfast smoothie sounds right on! On the yogurt, try to get as many different live cultures as possible. My regular-store yogurt only has 2 live cultures, but the stuff I get at the health-food store has four or six. On the bread, how many grams of fiber does it have? Are the first ingredients listed "whole grain" or "whole wheat"? Maybe throw some onions or tomatoes on your sandwich, and make sure your tuna's canned albacore tuna? I'm just going through the list of superfoods and trying to figure out ways of adding some more in.

Have a good day ...

Questforhealth, you packed in a lot of SuperFoods today! Bravo! I'm going to stock up on Newman's Own dressing this week. You guys find the greatest sounding flavors!

sugarlove, you're showing off with your homemade multi-grain buns! I'd love to try to bake my own eventually.

phantastica, pumpkin muffins sound terrific for breakfast! That'll be on my weekly menu one day this week for sure! Also, was your spinach cooked with the olive oil, lemon and pepper or was it a spinach salad with olive oil, lemon and pepper as the dressing?

mousie, my dinner changed too! I could only eat 2 oz of turkey, not 3 and I couldn't fit in my salmon or pineapples today. I was stuffed!

Hi Kontessa! Welcome aboard! With the exception of a few SuperFood veterans, I think most of us are feeling our way and learning right along with you! Your menu sounds pretty good. I don't think you have to give up the mayo, though. What I understand about SuperFoods is that we should incorporate as many of them as possible into our daily meals. It doesn't mean that we have to only eat them and completely give up our other foods that we enjoy. If you are trying to lose weight and eat healthy SuperFoods, then you may want to eat a lower calorie mayo or just use a smaller amount of it. FYI, I tried low carb diets before, but I find this way of eating to be dead on with the way that I love to eat. I started eating SuperFoods and counting calories at the same time. So, I can have mayo. I just have to count it towards my daily calories consumed. KWIM? Anyways, if you have any questions, just ask! There will be so many great responses that'll get thrown your way!

Great job everybody! Looks like we're getting in a good number of SuperFoods today! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hello!

hemphearts are the little shells I guess of the hemp seed. Here is some info on them:

HEMP HEARTS™ are the Most Concentrated and Best Balanced Source of Proteins, Essential Fats and Vitamins in Nature. Of equal importance, these desirable nutrients are not accompanied in Hemp Hearts with an excess of carbohydrates, sugars, and saturated fats--nutrients which are already eaten in excess and which in the long term have proven to be challenging to human health.

HEMP HEARTS™ are not a medicine: Amazing health and lifestyle benefits, often experienced from the first day, are a result of improved nutrition.
Hemp Hearts bring health benefits to:

People interested in preventative health and wellness

Diabetics

People with obesity

People with chronic constipation

Elderly individuals with chronic health problems

People with high blood pressure

Individuals on carb-reduced diets

Individuals battling high cholesterol

People with Celiac Disease

People battling depression

Pregnant and lactating mothers

Children with hyperactivity disorders

We can buy them at all the health food stores here. I know Whole Foods carries them--in the refridgerated section near the tofu and eggs.

Miso gravy is delicious. We have a restaurant here called The Naam. They make it and bottle it, and you can buy it in the stores. It's so good.
I'm sure you could buy it in a health food store too.

The pumpkin muffins are super-easy: 1 can of pumpkin (NOT pie filling), and one box of spice cake mix. Mix the two together and bake as directed on package. They are great breakfast foods and after-school snacks in the fall.

I sauteed the spinach in the oil and added the lemon and pepper while cooking. Delish! I never liked cooked spinach as a kid, but now I can't seem to get enough of it.
