S/C/G: SW:226/16st - about 50lbs lost

Height: 5'8"

Default August weigh in

Up a pound this week. Not too bad since I ate junk at the weekend and I've not been to the gym this week yet. As expected really.

Keepin' on truckin'

I've lost 2lbs overnight - tummy bug - I really am hoping it stays off for a proper loss this week, but I doubt it!

I saw that last night, we should all do it, it would be quite spectacular to see how much the whole site loses in a month!

Ok well I weighed myself on boots scales today and they said I was 14 stone 3lbs so I am going with those scales instead of my own!

Stayed the same again.
Upset is not the word.
The consultant said that going to the gym wouldn't help my weight loss, it will just change my body shape. So why am I bothering?

I've obviously reached my maximum. I ate so well last week, followed it to the letter but didn't lose an ounce.

Homersmummy - Ask your consultant if she'd rather weigh 16 stone and wear size 10 clothes, or weigh 10 stone and wear size 16 clothes.

Surely changing (reducing) your body shape is THE WHOLE REASON for losing weight? Weight loss is the side effect of a shrinking body, no?

I really want to kind your consultant a - can you slap her for me? Exercise is SO good for you, it will improve your health and your body shape and makes you feel alive, and moving is what your body was MADE for.

Ok rant over!

Are you doing slimming world? My mum was doing SW and stalled, but she was doing all green days, then I suggested she do all reds and she lost 3lbs. Perhaps a little change is called for. Don't lose hope, sometimes your body needs a week or two to figure out what's going on.

Oh and whatever you do - don't quit the gym!

Huh?? I can't believe that a responsible SW leader would say something quite so stupid!!!!!

Weight training and cardio have so MANY health benefits and reduce stress and make you feel good about yourself. The long term benefits are IMMENSE - reduction in blood pressure, strengthens the heart and lungs, helps prevent osteoporosis, loads of stuff - and all those benefits have a knock on effect - latest research says that lowering blood pressure will help prevent us getting dementia in old age.

Cardio burns calories - there is absolutely NO doubt about that - and resistance work tones up the body, giving a better body shape.

What Frus says about weight/body shape is right. At the moment I'm 13st and size 16. In the past (when I didn't exercise) I would have been a size 18-20 at 13st - and I wouldn't have been a size 16 until I had got down to 12st.

I never could get on with SW - I gained weight four weeks in succession before I stopped going. I know that the attractiveness of SW is not having to count calories BUT if you are eating more calories than you need you will either gain weight or stay still. Try what I did - I got so frustrated about the weight gain and lack of SW leader support (she kept telling me that I had to be doing something wrong) that one day I wrote down EVERYTHING I ate on a normal SW green day and then counted up the calories - I was totally gobsmacked to find I had eaten 2,750 cals - no wonder I was gaining weight.

Consultants are just human they don't know everything they might be lazy and think everyone should stay in and watch tv and just eat 'pasta n sauce'

Keep going to the gym and be all fit. I'm sure you'll start losing again soon. Don't give up that's the sort of silly thing I do.

Oh Help!!!
I went for a check up at the dr`s yesterday morning who was glad to tell me I`d lost 2lbs...yippee I thought..all that hard work paid off.
Unfortunately by the time I got to WW at 6pm and weighed I`d put 2lbs on to my start weight...oh S**T!
I know that muscle weighs heavier than fat and I`m feeling trimmer but that`s not the point. The whole idea of being on a diet is to lose weight, try telling my dr that my weight is muscle not fat...he`d laugh his head off and tell me to get on with it!!
I will not give up...I will keep trying to lose weight...I will stick to my diet this week and see how next Thursday goes...
Kick up the A** needed.
Anyone been watching a series called Our New Lives In Everwood...excellent time for a tea break..2pm on 3.
Maybe will go mow the lawn and work off a few more calories. Back later.
Kim
