Another chance at doing a challenge!:) This one may be an easier challenge for some. And since it got the most votes this is what we're going to try.
It was also borrowed from the support forum. (Gotta give credit where credit is due) I was a part of this challenge way back when I first started and really enjoyed it....and I think some of you may enjoy it also.
What does it involve? Well let me tell ya.....
Each week you choose something that you really have a hard time doing and you do it for the week.:hun: :lifter: BUT--the difference between this and the 21 day challenge is:....you DON'T have to do this every day of the week! (The week consist of Monday through Sunday----yes weekends too!)
Say for instance.....you really want to cut down on sugar...but you know you can't last for the full 21 days:no: (as in the 21 day challenge) but you know you can at least work it in some of the days in a week. You can choose how many days such as 3 or 4 or 5.....(but no less than 3 please) and then commit yourself to it.
AND....it doesn't have to be all in a row either!:cb: You may decide to not eat sugar for 4 days. So on Monday you have no sugar, but on Tuesday you can have some, on Wednesday none, then Thurdsday...(you get the idea) As long as you complete the amount of days you committed yourself to.
So what do you think? Think we can commit to doing this?:high: Let's give it a try!

Okay..here's mine--I have a terrible time with adding salt. I am one of those people who salt before tasting because I KNOW there is not enough in whatever it is I am eating(There is a salt shaker in my drawer at work and whn I was pregnant with DD, DH used to take the salt to work with him!!).
So, my challenge will be not to add any extra salt to any of my meals for 5 days this week and to not cheat while cooking and add additional salt then. I don't usually add "salt to my taste" when cooking becaus eit would be way too salty for hubby. I've already salted my Lean Cuisine so I have the next six days to get it done!!
07-31-2006, 04:29 PM
Okay, I'm here for the challenge this week.
I am working on my exercise...got lazy and haven't done any in the last two weeks. :nono:
So...I will go to It Figures M-W-F and walk on T & Thurs, maybe Saturday. Five days of working out for sure. I've got to get movitivated again and not let the heat be an excuse.
07-31-2006, 04:39 PM
Mine will be the same as last week, with an additional 200 calories on Sunday. Somehow, I need those to make it through. :dizzy:
Jules - I have been trying to cut down on salt, too, because I add too much to the tomatoes and cantaloupe I've been eating.
Cristi - if you walk outside, make sure it's real early in the day so you don't melt or pass out from the heat! Love the lipstick, lol.
07-31-2006, 05:47 PM
My challenge this week is going to be to write down everything I eat. I know what I am supposed to eat/how much, etc. I just don't do it. If I do a diary and get eating properly I know I will feel more like exercising. (I blame the heat for not walking...but I know I could exercise inside if I wanted to.)
08-01-2006, 03:29 AM
This week is WATER.
I have come to realize that I haven't been drinking much.....AGAIN!
Not sure why it's such a problem. In the summer, You'd think it'd be easier.
5days of drinking at least 40oz of water.
Yep, that should do it. :D
08-01-2006, 04:38 PM
Just reporting in - yesterday was totally OP.
Hope you're doing well, too. :)
08-01-2006, 06:21 PM
Jane...I wish I looked good with red lipstick, lol! Tried it before and ick! I looked like a clown. WTG on day 1 of being OP! :carrot:
Did make it to It Figures yesterday but no walk today. Not feeling so great for some reason...thinking it is the heat. So that means I DO have to walk Saturday for sure.
Sue...I started writing everything down also...figure it can't hurt.
08-01-2006, 08:04 PM
I have done good at writing foods down. I just didn't do so well at what it was. Well, 2 meals out of 3 were okay. Shooting for 3 meals tomorrow.
The day is not over yet and I hope to do WATP tonight. We will see.
Keep up the good work folks!
08-01-2006, 11:18 PM
I managed 20 minutes of walking exercises and 10 minutes of my arm exercises. I didn't eat after 8, right before 8 I had a Clementine. That didn't erase the poor choices from earlier, but didn't compound them either.
08-02-2006, 11:03 AM
Best laid plans usually go awry with me. How about you? I had planned meals the last 2 days and they didn't work out that way. But not to give up, I am planning to fix chicken fajitas and lots of fresh veggies for dinner tonight. I had cereal and banana for breakfast and I already have a salad and clementine chilling for lunch. Need to make some sugar free jello also.
Have my shoes on and ready to go WATP. Back later!
08-02-2006, 12:05 PM
I've had two successful days. Yesterday I almost didn't make it, but I grabbed another glass and downed it.
It's not like I'm drinking anything else instead of water....I'm just not drinking much at all. That's not good!
So mornings I have my one cup of coffee....the rest of the day it's water.
Sheesh.....who knew it'd be this hard?!? :dizzy:
08-02-2006, 12:10 PM
Cristina - this heat is making us all miserable and lethargic. Ick! We're supposed to get a break from it tomorrow, which hopefully that means you'll get yours today.
Sue - writing down everything helps me a lot. Some people use fitday.com where you can track all the nutrients, etc. and love it. I use lined school paper in a notebook, and do this when I'm away from the computer, usually when I'm watching TV with Neal at night, for the next day's food.
I'm still doing well with the food. I have to say - last night I wanted something sweet so bad, and luckily there was nothing in the house. So I very slowly ate a bread and butter pickle spear that's made with Splenda, and odd as it sounds, that gave me just enough sweetness to make it through. Not saying that will always work, but it did last night.
I decided to go ahead and report my progress here, because the rest of you are sharing, and I think it's right that I do, too. I'm happy to say that last week I lost 4 pounds. Of course, this is of weight I regained, but at least I'm doing something about it before it ALL comes back, right?
Have an OP day, ladies.
08-02-2006, 12:13 PM
Marti - we were posting at the same time. YAY for you getting your water in. :carrot: If it will help, you might want to try to drink it at room temp. When I first started drinking it that's what got me through. Just a thought.
08-02-2006, 05:30 PM
Okay, so not doing so good so far. But...I still can get in the five days so all is not lost. I did get to It Figures Monday, Tuesday was shot, as was/is today. Not a good feeling jumping around with a headache so I didn't make it to It Figures. I am going tomorrow and Friday so will still get my three days in there and walk on Sat. & Sunday regardless. Just going to have to suck it up and DO IT! I have to.
JANE...WTG on the four pounds! :carrot: That's awesome! Glad to hear you are doing well with the food. I bought grapes to ward off that old pesky sweet tooth of mine...whatever works for us, right? The pickle actually sounds good too!
MARTI...WTG on the water! :carrot: I drink mine room temperature. Can't really handle the cold water for some reason unless I have been in the heat for hours.
I did do the WATP and felt good. DH wanted pizza for lunch, so my salad got left for tomorrow. I didn't do too badly with lunch and for dinner I had just one half of a tortilla with chicken fajita and one spoonful of rice/veggies. And thanks to the pizza I wasn't very hungry for dinner. I know, I should have said NO to the pizza, but I have the willpower of a flea.
Hey, I wrote it all down. LOL
Tomorrow: More exercise, less food!
08-02-2006, 11:41 PM
Ilostit4ever..my challenge is to write down my food choices. I can already see that i am making very poor choices. Others are challenging themselves to drink more water or exercise. You name your challenge. Come join us! Amble on over to the chit-chat thread. We would love to meet you.
08-03-2006, 10:48 AM
Thanks Sue, I think challenging ourselves is a great motivating tool...I am maintaining and I am bored with what I am doing, so I've decided to switch to Atkins for awhile, so that will be my challenge, do stick to Atkins for a week or two and see what happens...Thanks for the warm welcome.
08-03-2006, 04:54 PM
Cristina - I can surely understand why you wouldn't want to do jumping around exercise with a headache. Hope you felt well enough today to go. Did you get a break in the heat at all? It's not as hot here, but the humidity is awful. Blech!
Sue - it's all about portion control, don't you think so? A small amount of pizza would be ok, eaten with a lot of veggies on the side to fill us up, that is, lol. Also, good for you, for getting in the habit of writing it down!
Ilostit4ever - a big welcome to you! Yay for you being on maintenence! :cp: I was on it too, then I got lazy about planning my food everyday, and now I'm back to losing. As Sue said - pop on in at the Weight Loss and Chit Chat thread.
Marti & Julie - how're you guys doing?
I'm still OP, and can feel the energy of eating healthy foods. Hope this lasts! :dizzy:
08-03-2006, 06:53 PM
Jane, thanks for the warm welcome...I'm just learning and not sure what the chit chat thread is, but I'm sure I'll get it figured out. Thanks again..And hey, I have lost count how many time, I was on the having to lose end, the Important thing is that your catching it before it gets out of control
08-03-2006, 10:51 PM
The chit chat thread is the "Weight loss and chit chat #206" thread, listed on the Jaded Ladies main page. You might want to read the last one, #205, to catch up with everyone's news, before you post on #206, since #206 was just started. Hope to see you there. :)
08-04-2006, 12:10 AM
Been drinking my water...just really busy the last couple of days and haven't had as much time to post. Hang in there, everyone!
08-04-2006, 02:03 AM
Another successful day.....so how many days is that for me?? Who cares...I'll just keep going! :D
Looks like everyone is doing great.
Ilostit4ever--Welcome! Glad to have you here! Hope to hear more from ya!
MaryKate--Water is my challenge this week and it started out harder than I wanted...but now it's going down. Pop in when you're feeling better.
Jane--4lbs is awesome!! I'm so proud of you!!! Keep up the good work. I need to keep my challenges different each week, so I may do a calorie challenge next week.
Cristi--Headaches and jumping DEFINATELY don't mix. Take it easy if you're having migraines and such. There is always next week if it gets to be too much. We want to do this safely. So be careful and don't force yourself ok.
Sue--I have WATP DVD's and have only viewed them and used them a few times. I really need to get them out. Good job at writing it all down. That's a great idea too. Heck...I may borrow all ideas from you girls!
What ever weight I may have lost on the first I feel like I have gained and double. TOM has me feeling so bloated and miserable. And the heat doesn't help. But I'm still hanging on.
Keep up the good work girls!
08-04-2006, 11:09 AM
Mary Kate - yay on drinking the water. I was surprised to read awhile back that it gives us energy, but it's really true, isn't it? How's the heat in CA? Seventy-two delicious degrees here in Indiana this morning. Ahhhhh.....
Marti - yay for you, too, toots! One good thing about TOM water weight is that it goes away, lol. Hope you're feeling better!
Hope you other gals are doing well, too.
Another really good day yesterday. I'm 4 for 4.
08-04-2006, 11:49 AM
 Good morning, doing great on Atkins, today is day 3, and I can honestly say this is the first time since I started losing weight that I am not feeling a bit hungry, I guess it's the protein keeping me full...I hope you all are having a good day and will have a great weekend.
08-04-2006, 07:11 PM
Okay, so I didn't make it to It Figures yesterday but I did get a mile walk in...guess that counts for something. I did go to It Figures this morning and I did a 1.20 mile walk on the treadmill also and I must say it felt good. Tomorrow I am getting up early and doing a 3-mile walk, the same Sunday.
HI and :welcome: ILostIT4Ever! WTG on day 3! :carrot:
JANE...WTG on staying OP so far! :carrot:
MARTI and MARYKATE...WTG on getting the water down! :carrot:
SUE...WTG on getting the WATP done! And a little bit of pizza won't kill ya...like Jane said, it's all about portion control. And you are writing it down so good for you! :carrot:
I missed a couple of days of writing everything down but I have been carrying my notebook around with me. And I planned out my meals for today and so far so good. I've been doing great with the water and vitamins.
Hope everyone had a great day today!
08-04-2006, 07:44 PM
Christina, good for you for getting to the gym..Isn't it funny how we dread or put off going, when we know we are going to feel so good about ourselves aterwards? Human nature is a strange thing...I think you deserve a pat on the pack....My exercise today was doing 30 min of the Biggest Loser DVD, and 30 min on my gazelle, I am slacking with the exercise lately, I was doing 1.5 hours a day 6 days a week, now I've only been doing about 3 days a week, so I need to get my rear in gear and get back on track.
08-04-2006, 09:52 PM
Ilostit4ever - sounds like you're doing a great job with the food and exercise, both. YAY for you! :cp: Btw, when you're ready, is there a name we can call you? Just when/if you're ready for that, though, ok? :)
Cristina - heck yeah, a mile walk counts for.... well, a mile! I think that's great, considering the heat we've had. And yay to you for the rest of your progress. :carrot: I'm trying to not worry about increasing my exercise (which mean DO some, lol) until I for sure have the food thing down pat for 3 or 4 weeks. My foot is so much better, that I think I'm going to invest in a treadmill again.
Although the day isn't over yet, unless I have a major meltdown, or something, I'm good for another day. The only problem I've been having is being a little heavy-handed with the salt shaker on the melons I've been eating. But, hey, at least it's not salt on potato chips that I'm eating, right?
Have a good one, ladies.
08-05-2006, 09:36 AM
Jane, my name is Ladean, and thanks I'm feelin good, day 4 of Atkins, and I am down .5 pounds so far woooohoooo.
08-05-2006, 01:11 PM
Ladean - what a pretty name! And a big YAY for the .5 down. :cp: At first, I thought you were in maintenance after reaching your goal, but then I got it that you had stalled. Feels good to see the scales go downward finally, doesn't it? I had lost 85 pounds in 2004, gained 1/2 of it back, and now am trying to lose those pounds again. :dizzy: Even then, I won't weigh what the charts say I should weigh, but it would be good enough for me. I intend to do much better at maintenance next time!
Hope you others are doing well. :crossed:
I am down 1.5 more this week, and happy about that. We're going out to eat tonight but I've allowed for that, and think I'll be ok.
08-05-2006, 03:31 PM
I've had my 40oz + all week. Feeling good about that.
So that's more than the 4days I was counting on.
Off I go!
Keep up the good work girls!!!
08-05-2006, 04:01 PM
Ladean...I was going to ask if you wanted to share your name. WTG on the .5 pound! :carrot: And yes, you are right. I always dread any kind of exercise but after I do it I do feel so much better.
Jane...yay for the 1.5 pounds down! :carrot: You are doing great! That's what I am going to work on next...the food. Not sure which should come first but I haven't been doing too bad with the food, not as good as I should be doing. I finally got the water and vitamins down and haven't had a problem with that, was just that two week break I took from exercising and now trying to get back on track. But you are doing good...keep up the good work!
Marti...WTG missy on getting that water! :carrot:
How is everyone else doing, MaryKate, Jules, Sue?
Again, I didn't want to get up out of bed so early this morning but I did. Went for a 3.5 mile walk and it actually felt good. Not sure if I dread getting up that early more than having to walk by myself but either way...I did it! So that is four days of exercise in, not the 3 at It Figures like planned but I did walk that day. Next week I will get on track with the 3 (IF) and 2 walking days.
08-05-2006, 10:53 PM
Still writing food down and trying to plan ahead, but it is so hard to make good choices...ugh. I got exercise 3 days, and will try for tomorrow too.
08-06-2006, 06:28 PM
Marti - woohooo for you making your goal!! :carrot:
Cristi - yay for you getting out of bed when you didn't want to. :cp: And a 3.5 miles walk is a long way! No way could I do that all at once!
Sue - hope you got your walk in today.
I've done well today, so far, and don't see a problem finishing the challenge this time. Since I added 200 extra calories for today, it kept me from eating much, much more than that in the long run. Planning a treat seems to work for me.
I'm ready for the new week tomorrow! :)
08-06-2006, 10:49 PM
I did get in WATP today, so feel good about that. I am mounting a new attack for next week. I have planned 6 mini meals which should fulfill my need to "graze.' (It does seem like I will be eating all day long) I will continue to write down what I eat and see how this works for me. I actually made cards like flash cards, some with breakfast, some with lunch, dinner and snacks. Several of each catagory, so I can change them up every day. Should be fun to see if I can make good choices.
YAY Jane, Marti, Ladean and Cristina.
08-07-2006, 12:14 AM
Welllllllll...I was doing ok the first few days of the week, but got stressed and lost my focus, and did NOT get 48 oz of water every day. So...as Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrah is anothah day..." I'll start again Monday the 7th...goal is 2 24 oz bottles of water for at least 5 days this next week.
