07-17-2006, 06:28 PM
Hey britt great idea, now i dont have to go backtrack through the July friends thread to find you gals.
I'm doing good so far, i needed this so bad to get going again.
Juliemarie & HeatherCP how's it goin?
07-17-2006, 11:43 PM
Today has gone okay....I have to admit I was HUNGRY! But tomorrow should be better. I did go weigh in tonight and I am up 5 pounds...so it's a good thing I started this....
07-18-2006, 11:27 AM
Heather sorry about the gain. i am afraid to go WI. I'm going tomorrow after TO. Yesterday went well for me, not as bad as i expected but i was a bit on edge last night but that could have been because the kids were driving me nuts yesterday.
Today is going good so far. Dont worry about the gain its probably mostly water and it will be gone soon.
07-18-2006, 11:37 AM
So far this morning has been going well! My kids seem a lot calmer today! Monday's are always hard..first day daddy goes back to work..and the "mean mommy" is there all alone with them! LOL (they both adore...worship..their daddy) I am trying to stay busy today so I don't think about food! Laundry, dishes..playtime with the boys anything to keep me from eating....gotta run..DFS#1 is pulling the out the VCR to "work" on it again...later!
07-18-2006, 11:42 AM
So far so good. I WI on Saturday at the COD and then did not have such a great day. Gave into a craving I've had for weeks. Anyhoo-I know I did some serious damage over the weekend so I didn't weigh on Sun or Mon morning. Today I was down .2 from Saturdays weight so I figure the first day of TO I probably lost 2 or 3 pounds. I'm quite ecstatic!
Keep up the good work ladies! Don't let the kids drive you too crazy! That's one thing I don't have to worry about (sadly . . .)
07-18-2006, 11:52 AM
JulieMarie do you have baby syndrome too???? LOL I sure go but my BF and I are not getting married for a few years probably so that means babies are even farther off.
Glad to see that you guys are doing well on TO. I started this morning and not to bad im going to have my LA Lite in about 40 minutes along with my second round of juice and my second bottle of water. That should last me till lunch time.
Its really hot today and the AC in the office is just not cutting it I think its about 88 in here anywho i might have to cut out early on work again today lol.
07-18-2006, 11:56 AM
Britt-I've had baby syndrome for years! (I'm 34) And no future husband in sight. I've actually started thinking about single mom options. But then it seems so selfish. Ahh-too difficult a topic!
I have the opposite problem with our AC-it's freezing in here. Hot outside-frigid inside. It's ridiculous.
07-18-2006, 12:14 PM
JulieMarie you know its really not so selfish. Have you thought about maybe adoption? There are so many kids out there that need good homes. My BF and I have talked about this and while we do want to have our own child or children we also are thinking about adoption as well.
07-18-2006, 12:48 PM
Britt- As a single mother it is pretty difficult to adopt domestically. And international adoptions cost upwards of $20,000 . . . . .
07-18-2006, 01:12 PM
ouch!!!!!!!!!Well that being said I think you would make a great mother!!
Alright my TO friends I have a question...
we do still get to use ff dressing on our salad right? and it says you can have coffee but what about tea??? just wondering cause im planning out my meals for the next two days.
07-18-2006, 01:55 PM
I still use some condiments on TO-and tea is fine as well. But limited-of course, I don't pay attention to that;) Must have my coffee! And lots of it!
07-18-2006, 02:16 PM
ok Juliemarie....don't let the cost of adoption stop you. There are grants and some agencies that use an income based scale...and of course there is always the foster care system....TONS of kids (even babies) that need forever families! And don't think it's a bit selfish. If you want more info on the adoption route let me know.....
07-18-2006, 03:29 PM
Thanks JulieMarie thats what I thought too. I ended up calling my COD just to verify but she said that the dessing was fine in moderation as well as tea. Thanks!!!!
07-18-2006, 04:20 PM
HeatherCP- I've just begun looking into the foster care system. I'm not opposed to it at all, though I would like a younger child (5 or younger). The main hurdle I have at the moment is affording child care on my salary. I believe if you are fostering-you get help with it. But I don't know about fostering with the intent of adopting-whether it's the same or not.
07-18-2006, 04:31 PM
Juliemarie, Britt, Heather - interesting discussion here. I never realized there was grant money either. A co-worker once adopted not once, but two times, from Kakakistan (sp??). She was a single mom, mortgaged her home, borrowed from her mom, etc. I could never figure out how she could even afford daycare for the two children. Even the airflights to go get the children was costly. But somehow, she made it work and she couldn't be happier. I'm now 48 and contemplating doing the Big Sister route and maybe, someday, that will lead to fostering....I feel like I have a lot to share and with so many needy children out there, maybe I can make this world a better place.
07-18-2006, 04:56 PM
Here in Indiana we have the child care development fund (CCDF) that is the grant money for daycare. I am not sure if this is a nationwide name or not. But check and find out what the age is for special need adoptions. In Indiana special need means children 2 or older. These children have a stipend and daycare coverage until it's not needed or until they are 18. Be sure when you check into to ask specifically in your state what the qualifications would be...but it is available after a child is adopted. The daycare issue is the BIG issue for us. We ended paying about $530 a month when we got DFS#1...and it was a huge deal to get him on the grant money program...we are still working on it before I go back to school. I had a lady tell me before school was out that fostering would be a nice summer job for me and give me some income.....yes we do get a per diem....but we never ever MAKE money keeping these children. For us, it's about the kids..not the $$$$ (sadly not all foster parents are that way).
Joni I'll just toss this in for you....last stat that was reported was 518,000 children in foster care nationwide....and about 250,000 foster homes.....hmmmmmmm you do the math! (Can you tell this is something I'm really passionate about??)
07-18-2006, 05:18 PM
You gals have been quite busy but i love the discussion.
Just a quick TO update, i'm doing good despite the fact that i just made some yummy pastries for my hubby and my mom (bro is taking it from fl to ny to my mom). I was not tempted at all even thought they look sooooo yummy. Just had my lite and some water and i'm good until dinner. Making the pastries kept me busy in the AM and after i get done here i'm starting laundry. Glad to hear everyone else is doing ok.
HeatherCP i thought about adoption but like Juliemarie said it just way too expensive. I never heard anything about grants. I always watch the show on TLC i believe about adoption and i always cry for the entire 1/2 hour. My issues with adoption besides money is that i dont know if the baby when grown will feel like we love our kids more, i mean i definately love the baby as my own but you never know. I thought about foster also being that i'm home and it wouldnt be so hard for me but i dont know if my kids would be ready for that because they are so young and i dont want to sound mean but some of the kids are not well behaved and i dont know if i would do more harm than good with my kids anyway. I think i would definately prefer adopting a baby. My hubby wants another child too and 3 is alot these days. I think it would be really great to adopt. You are doing a really good thing.
07-18-2006, 09:35 PM
Just passing through the posts, not doing the challenge at this point.
JulieMarie - while adoption may be expensive, what about becoming a foster mother? Adoption can come from that as well, and the cost should be down because the child would already be with you.
Just my 2 cents... :)
07-18-2006, 11:06 PM
ok TO day 2 ended badly...let's just say it involved me some goldfish pretzels and a poptart. But I am on for regular plan tomorrow!
07-19-2006, 12:10 AM
LOL well jump back on tomorrow!!!
07-19-2006, 10:05 AM
OK regular plan today! I am thinking engish muffin and some blueberries for breakfast. Let's make this a POP day!
07-19-2006, 10:15 AM
YOU GO GIRL!!!! Thats the attitude i like to see. As for me i have this last day of take off and then I can have breakfast in the morning lol. Yesterday went really well and I was pleased. I forgot to WI this morning before I left the house so that I could have an idea of what it was gonna say at the COD but hey what can ya do when the memory starts to go lol.
Ok im off to have my first round of juice!!!
07-19-2006, 11:08 AM
Goodmorning girls. TO went well and i havent had BF yet but i'm prob going to have yogurt & a fruit.
Heather i'm so sorry last night didnt go as planned but POP day today, its a new day.
Britt goodluck today on your final day of TO. I wish i can forget to WI. I do it religiously at night and morning. When i stop thats when i'm satisfied with my weight but that wont be for a long time because even when i get to goal i'll be obsessed with staying at that weight.
This morning i weighed at home and it was the exact same # it was before i had a horrible week last week. I'm WI at COD today so we'll see what happens. I'm also doing lemon water tomorrow so it should all help the scale move downward.
Have a good POP day
07-19-2006, 11:12 AM
GL at WI!!!!!!!!!!
07-19-2006, 12:06 PM
Good morning ladies-
2nd day of TO went well-I'm down another .5 lb. So since-I didn't WI on Mon-I'm not exactly sure where I'm ending up. But whatever I did to myself this weekend is gone plus another 1lb from saturday's WI. I'm happy . . . . I'm thinking I won't change my ticker until after BOOST is over-so I can really tell how well it worked.
Sherry-I am considering fostering. I just need to look into it more. I'm mainly concerned with the cost of child care on my own (and I know I could probably get subsidized) and the thoughts in my head that it might be selfish to purposely become a single mother. However-these kids are already here and need a home. That makes it a little different than getting pregnant on my own. But I have a huge desire to carrry a child and give birth. So-there you go;)
07-19-2006, 01:31 PM
4 oz deli turkey, tortilla, with mustard, 4 oz yogurt, banana (YEAH MY FRIUTS ARE DONE FOR THE DAY) 12 baby carrots and water! I'm two meals down and two snacks and a meal to go!
07-19-2006, 01:52 PM
Ok so I talked to my fav counselor at the COD today and she said that when i get back OP after TO that i might want to rework how i eat my meals. She said try getting my starches in during the day and eating a lighter meal at night only 1/2 protein and 2 veggies so i think im gonna give it a try and then save my last bar for at night im gonna work on it today and see what i can come up with and try it for the 21 day boost see how it goes.
OH and FYI i asked about the V-8 Fusion and she said yes that 8oz counts as 2 V and 1 F so thats kind of cool if you dont feel like eating a lot one day you can sub the drink and also the V-8 splash counts as 1 F for 8oz would have thought it would have been a V too but guess not.
Im getting ready to head home in a little bit and hit the treadmill and have lunch I think this is gonna be my new daily ME time and routine till i start back to school then IT will have to change.
I have company coming in Next Thursday and i know we are gonna be eating out a bit while she is here so im gonna have to extra good and make wise choices those days. Im trying to plan where we are going so I can plan out my food lol.
Ok im off for now but ill be back...
07-19-2006, 07:53 PM
I have to laugh-just went to the bathroom and found a little surprise. I don't know why I can't count 28 days! :D Anyhoo-I'm stoked that the scale has gone down the last couple of days in spite of my cycle starting. Woo hoo! yay me!
07-20-2006, 12:43 AM
Juliemarie, Debbie24 Just wanted to jump in and put in my 2 cents worth about the fostering/adoption discussion. (I'm new to the board, introduced myself over at roll call). We have been foster parents and adoptive parents and both are wonderful options. I was a single foster mother before I was married (23 years ago). We adopted our very first foster child, a special needs child who they said at 15 months was un-adoptable and might never walk or talk. Tracy will be 24 next week and not only can walk and talk she is working and living on her own! She still needs help with some things (she doesn't drive, reading is difficult for her) but she takes buses and manages quite well. I feel myself beginning to get on my soapbox and I didn't intend to. It just upsets me when I think of all the children in foster care who aren't even given a chance. CandlePrincess is right, Children are considered special needs for a variety of reasons not only for physical or mental handicaps. Siblings groups, children over 2, minority children, etc. are all considered "hard to adopt" thus are often elgible for adoption subsidy. Every state is different when it comes to foster care, but many will allow you to foster with the intent to adopt.
We fostered over 125 children (stopped because of a move overseas), from newborns to pregnant teens. Sometimes it wasn't easy, but it was always rewarding. I knew that at least for the time I had them, they were getting something positive in their lives and I have to believe that we were making a difference, even if it didn't always seem like it. We also have 2 biological sons, who were born while we were fostering. It was just an a way of life for them.
I encourage you to look into both fostering and adoption. You can always specify the age and type of child you can take care of. If you have young children you wouldn't want to care for an older agressive child, etc. Didn't mean to go on so long, but like CandlePrincess this is something I am passionate about.
07-20-2006, 09:41 AM
Well TO is over and i dont really think that it went that well i mean i did TO just fine no setbacks but a bit hungry at times. This morning i jumped on my scales to see what progress was made it said 267.6 so thats .8 which means that im only down 1 pound for TO. That isnt exactly exciting news but hey i will take it right a pound is a pound.
I start pack on regular POP for 2 days now and I have my meals already planed out for today. Having breakfast as I type! Im glad TO is over untill the last two days of the Boost. Another thing that could be slowing my loss is that i started back exercising on Monday and have so far managed to exercise M-W for 20 min on the treadmill. So that being the case i say it will be about a week or so before my body regulates itself due to the exercise.
Ok my other Boost chicks how is it going????
07-20-2006, 10:58 AM
I am getting ready for breakfast.....and planning a good POP day!
07-20-2006, 11:09 AM
:carrot: POP!!!POP!!!POP!!!POP!!!POP!!!POP!!!POP!!!POP!!!PO P!!!POP!!!POP!!!POP!!!:carrot:
07-20-2006, 11:38 AM
How's it going? Well, since you asked-I'M CRAMPY AS ****!!!! A bit irritable too, as you can see. Scale stayed the same-which is good in spite of the circumstances.
I have a presentation to prepare for this afternoon, and hopefully the advil will kick in soon . . . . .
07-20-2006, 11:49 AM
Goodmorning girls. Just had BF, lite white with butter & cheese. maybe not too wise to have cheese & butter at the same time because of the fat but i wanted to get it in early. I only have 1oz cheese and then i'll have 4oz yogurt later in the day. Yesterday wasnt too bad but i didnt get all my foods in. Was doing a cake as a thank you to our neighbor who did us a favor so i got caught up with that and missed 2 fruits & 2 veggies. Then dad came by for dinner and i didnt cook so he went out and got us jamaican food. I ate that OP but it definately had alot of salt. I'm doing lemon water today in hopes of getting rid of most of that. I WI yesterday and i was up to 138.2 which is what i was before i did TO but my home scale was down so i dont know whats up with that, i was 133.2 at home in the AM. Maybe because it was different jeans?? Not too encouraging but i wont let it get me down. I need to stick to this.
Debbie thanks for the info and i'll definately look into it more.
Juliemarie i hope your cramps go away soon.
Britt keep going girl.
I was thinking of holding off on exercise for a while and see if that helps but i dont know if thats a good idea if i want to tone my body as i lose. I'll have to think about it. anyway DS#2 is crying, gotta go get him.
Hope you gals have a great day.
07-20-2006, 01:29 PM
ok..breakfast and lunch done.....and POP! We are going out tonight so I've saved some food for dinner. My scales actually say i am up 5 pounds....i think they are just plain evil. I started this program not weighing at home...and I think I have to go back to that....too much messing with my mind...and i don't have that much mind to mess with!
07-20-2006, 04:51 PM
HeatherCP you crack me up lol hope your home scale is just way off with the COD scale when do you WI next?
JulieMarie hope you feel better soon.
Debbie hope your scale problem works itself out too lol I think we are all having scale issues!
So far so good for me today POP!!!!
Lets keep it going girls!!!!!!!!:carrot:
07-20-2006, 06:36 PM
What is going on with the scales?? I think its out to get us.
POP day for me so far also. Keep going everyone, we can do this.
07-20-2006, 06:51 PM
Things are going well today. Popping advil-so I do feel somewhat better. My presentation on why drinking beer helps prevent prostate cancer is done. And i'm gonna do laundry tonite. Woo hoo!
07-20-2006, 07:00 PM
laundry...that reminds me i gotta go finish. i got some clothes in the dryer. i get so caught up on the computer.
07-20-2006, 11:11 PM
ok...it's 1009 pm...and i am off to bed..worn out actually! My youngest foster son had a visit tonight and it's always an ordeal to get everyone settled back into "normal" at home. I did manage to stay POP today! WHOOO HOOOOOO....I WI on Sat. I am so hoping for a loss. Ya'll have a good evening and I'll catch ya chickies in the am!
07-20-2006, 11:48 PM
hey hey sounds like we are all having a good POP day thats great to hear!!!:carrot:
I am tired too not sure why lol might be because i didnt exercise today!!
I have my WI tomorrow morning wish me luck!!!!
Here is to a POP day tomorow!!!!!!!!
07-21-2006, 10:12 AM
Yesterday was POP for me also so i'm proud of myself, thats 3 days in a row. I WI tomorrow also and hoping for a loss but my scale is the same this morning as yesterday.
1st day having slimfast substitute today.
?? - Since i buy slimfast when i write in my diary i put slimdown and no one has asked me yet about it because i never buy any but if they ask "how come you do slimdown and you never bought any" what do i say?? I'm guessing i definately cant say that i've been doing slimfast because that is not OP for them and it might affect my contract with them. Have you guys had to answer this question?
Well have a great POP day everyone, talk to you gals later.
07-21-2006, 10:31 AM
Well i go in for WI but my scale had me up from my weight at home yesterday but I will wait and see what the scale says at the center.
Yeah debbie I do the slimfast as well and I have bought slimdowns before but its been a while they have never asked me as well. If they do ask you could always say you bought them off ebay or that you had a friend/family member that was doing the program and had several left and gave them to you. To satisfy them you could say that when you run out you are planning on buying more lmao. I doubt they will ask you.
Looking forward to a POP day today now i better get to the center so i can be there when they open im not eating or drinking before i go in today lol.
07-21-2006, 01:10 PM
Ok so i was down another .2 so that means that I lost about .5 on TO not great numbers but you know ill take them. I start with my shakes tomorrow and im getting ready to plan out the rest of my food today. And maybe work on my weekend meals. I am setting a goal of 1lb for myself for my WI on monday.
Hope today is going well for you chicks!!!!
Ok i gotta go plan...
07-21-2006, 01:15 PM
Good morning ladies! Well starting the shakes today. So far so good today! It's a busy day today with the kids....they seem to be wild today. Glad my DH only works a half day today! WHOOO HOOO! Let's gear up for the weekend and make it a good POP weekend! Later chickies!
07-21-2006, 02:05 PM
Britt congrats on the loss. I'm like you i'll take anything at this point. I WI tomorrow so we'll see.
POP day so far and definately keeping it that way. Weekends are tough, good thing hubby is only home on sundays because i can never seem to stay OP when he's home. He messes with my whole schedule.
Heather have fun with DH and kiddies.
07-21-2006, 02:24 PM
Hey guys! I'm starting the shakes today too. Going to have one blended with a banana and ice tonite. It's going to be over 100 degrees today and this little duckie does not do well in the heat! It's just abnormal here! Anyway-hopefully the heat will keep my appetite down.
Tomorrow we have a training walk-predicted temp of 103-105. Our coach has shortened the walk from 16 mi to 12mi so far. Still not happy. And then-I was planning to WI (maybe-don't usually do it when TOM) and then I have to come into work for a couple of hours. Sounding miserable huh? At least it's cool here. And we have a cold room (big giant fridge basically) that I can hang out in if need be. And of course the emergency room is here if I've developed heat stroke :D
07-21-2006, 03:20 PM
Juliemarie thats HOT!!! 12mi is still alot but think of all the cals you are going to burn and drink lots of water. You will be one busy chick tomorrow. Goodluck with it all and try to stay cool. That slimfast shake sounds yummy. May have to try that 1 night for dinner.
07-21-2006, 03:51 PM
JulieMarie be careful in that weather tomorrow and gl on your 12 miles lol im gonna try and get in 20 minutes on my treadmill ill think about ya lol :carrot:
That shake does sound good might have to try that sometime.
Still POP here had to hunt and search at Granny's today since i didnt have my lunch ready to take but still stayed POP woohoo!!!

So far, so good . . . . . just dreading going home on an unairconditioned bus in this heat! Sorry-I'll stop complaining about the heat. i know it's been worse for other people.
07-21-2006, 11:29 PM

07-21-2006, 11:39 PM
ok...down almost 5 pounds...will check in tomorrow
07-22-2006, 12:50 PM
WOW heather thats great. So happy for you.
Juliemarie i'm thinking of you in the heat with that 12mi walk. Goodluck today and stay hydrated.
I WI today and am back to my ticker weight which is not what i wanted but its ok, atleast i'm not up anymore. I just dont get it though. My morning weight was 132.2 and i go WI and its 136.8. How in the world is it so much of a difference? It used to be a 3lb difference between the scales now its 4.6lbs. What's going on?? They said that when i go in next week they are going to bring me down to the green plan. I'm kinda excited about that, maybe it will get me going even more and i get rid of 1 dreadful veggy, 1 fruit also but that didnt bother me to have 3.
Well having a POP day so far, hope its the same for you gals.
07-22-2006, 02:46 PM
I am thinking about hopping on the 21 Day Boost train. I'm leaving for Colorado on thursday and won't be back until late saturday. We are driving for 9 hours there and 9 hours back so I was dreading the food problem. How do I eat when the rest of the car is going to want crappy, greasy disgusting road side food? I could only hope that we can stop some place like a subway and I can just tear apart my sandwhich to make it work. But if I plan it right I can hit the slim down replacement days on the days that I'm traveling and I can just ignore the boys who are in McDonalds on some abandoned highway and I can enjoy a shake instead. I'll think about it and decide if I'm going to jump in late tomorrow.
07-22-2006, 03:39 PM
Well-I'm back and I survived! Actually it wasn't all that bad-there was a nice cloud cover so it kept the temps reasonable (so far!). When I got up at 4:30am-it was still 80 degrees outside. It was so gross-I felt sticky and sweaty before we even started. We started at 6 am and were done by 10am. The only bad parts were when the sun broke out of the clouds-then the heat instantly jacked up like 10 degrees and it was BRUTAL til it went back behind the clouds. Luckily-it only happened a few times. We had one lady quit early cuz she got overheated and could seem to cool down. She didn't look too good.
It was crazy yesterday-got up to 104 in Portland and up to 108 in a nearby suburb. That's just nuts for western Oregon;) Even though it was above 90 in my bedroom I managed to sleep with a cold shower and 2 fans blowing on me.
So I'm at work (grr!) and will be here a couple of hours. But I went home and showered after the walk and ate an on plan lunch (so-no post-walk binge!) and plan on keeping cool the rest of the day if possible. Maybe a nap.
Keep up the good work guys!
07-22-2006, 04:15 PM
Sommer sounds like it will be a good plan. Join us!!
Juliemarie glad everything went well and you stayed OP. Geez that is hot!!
07-22-2006, 04:59 PM
Oh-I guess I should mention that we ended up only doing 8 miles. Felt like more though. If we did 12 we would have been walking till almost noon-and none of us wanted to do that. I lead a group of pretty slow walkers. I totally would've rather kicked out 12 miles in that time. Oh well.
Sommer-yes-join us! Come over to the boost side!
07-22-2006, 07:40 PM
JulieMarie great job on your 8mi walk glad it went good!!
Sommer come on chickie join us it will be great!!!!
Debbie are you sure you need to be put on green???? Its not much food at all.
Kristi how goes it on the boost???
HeatherCP how are things today???
As for me I have been POP so far and have to go get things going for dinner!!! ill be back later...
07-22-2006, 10:10 PM
Britt: Today started out okay. I was on plan for breakfast, which was more like bruch. And we ate out for dinner. i would say i was 90% on plan. i will write it in my journal so I will know if I gain or anything. I went over by having chicken fingers instead of grilled chicken. I had the veggies and a salad and only one dinner roll....so it was horrible bad but it was off plan. Still have to drink my shake tonight.....thinking about skipping it and getting back on plan 100% tomorrow!
07-23-2006, 12:05 AM
Well i ended up about 98% on plan i just missed a fruit and i just cant eat it now i am full after my last bottle of water. Glad to see that you two (HeatherCP & kristi) did good today. Heather i think that 95% OP is great you didnt totally blow it and thats showing will power and control you go girl :carrot:
JulieMarie and Debbie hope you ended the day strong!!!!!!!!!!
07-23-2006, 04:47 PM
I missed you gals last night. Yesterday i was POP and today so far so good. The scale was a bit nice this morning, showed i was down about a lb. We'll see what happens at WI on tuesday.
Juliemarie congrats on the 8mi, better than none at all. Good job.
Britt it doesnt seem so bad to go on green. The recommend green at 128lbs. My AM weight today was 131.8. Maybe since i'll have a reduction in carbs i might see some loss. If it doesnt go good then i'll let them know but i will definately try it.
Hubby is home on sundays so i'm usually not on the computer. Hope you gals are having a good day. I dont know if i will be back later on but if not i'll see you gals tomorrow and have a great night. Gonna go have my slimfast blended with banana & ice (thanks for the idea juliemarie).
07-23-2006, 06:12 PM

07-24-2006, 01:37 AM
I am starting the boost tomorrow TO with oranges. How are those of you doing that started last Monday? I hope that this helps re-kick my metabolism. It sounds like a great schedule.
Have a great week
07-24-2006, 09:58 AM
Hey Krystal welcome to the group! I started last tuesday and should know today how much im down havent seen a real loss for myself yet but thats because i started back to exercising last week. But from my home scales tell me i should have aobut a 2lb drop when i WI this morning. So far so good for me and its actually been eaiser to stay OP how weird is that!! GL with TO!!!!
Morming to the other boost gals check back in with ya later...
07-24-2006, 11:06 AM
Britt goodluck with WI today, i'm going tomorrow.
Krystal so glad you joined us. Welcome and its going good so far. It really helps to kickstart the metabo. I did it 1 time before when i was stuck and it worked great.
Kristi how is everything going for you today?
Juliemarie, Heather -
everything going well this morning so far, was POP yesterday and have to say i'm proud of myself because i've been POP for an entire week, something i havent done since the last week in May. I WI tomorrow so hope it pays off.
talk to you gals later
07-24-2006, 11:44 AM
Hey gals-Congrats! You are all doing so well.
Debbie-POP over the weekend! Wow! Sadly-I fell into my old patterns on Saturday. I'm pretty frustrated with myself. I guess I can't be trusted to be left alone! Anyway-it's over and I'm back with a vengence. I'm still all hot and bloated! This weekend's weather was just gross. My house was like a swamp upstairs and the air-conditioner made it just tolerable downstairs. Icky! I never realized that heat made you retain water so bad . . . .
07-24-2006, 12:01 PM
JulieMarie hope it has cooled down some!! Jump back on the boost plan girl!!
Debbie WTG being POP over the weekend and last week and GL @ WI tomorrow!!!
I just got back from WI and im down 2.2lbs since friday woohoo works for me!!!
HeatherCP, Krisit & Krystal :carrot:
I stopped by McDonalds on the way home and got water and apple dipper no sauce. The girl at the window asked if i was on a diet and didnt I want any meat lol I just laughed and said nope the apple and water are fine!
07-24-2006, 12:38 PM
Britt-consider me jumped! And congrats on the loss! You've got some good momentum going . . . ..
07-24-2006, 01:11 PM
Thanks!!! I might be able to reach my goal by 7/31/06 as long as I stick with what im doing!!!
Glad you jumped!!!! Keep it up!!!
07-24-2006, 02:46 PM
Britt woohoo on the loss.
Juliemarie glad to see you back on, thats all that matters girl is that you get back up.
Heather - kiddies keeping you busy? hope everything is going ok for you today.
07-24-2006, 11:30 PM
Debbie: the little ones were wound up today! It's getting to a point we can go outside some and my neighbor down the street has a pool and we are thinking about going down there! She's a foster mom too...and only takes infants..she currently has 3....but a nice cool swim would be great! I love having the boys in the water and they adore it too...my oldest has a floaty suit and he loves it because he can "swim" but still be above the water...the baby has a basket and looks a lot like Moses in the bullrushes!
I've decided not to WI until Sat! My scales are evil and they must be destroyed and my brain can't take the back and forth they seem to offer lately!
Not much else here.....planning a POP day tomorrow! Got all my food and water in today WHOOOO HOOOO....I'll admit to fudging a bit at dinner with the dinner rolls. The way I figure it I ended up over a starch....bread should be outlawed in all 50 states! I'm off to sleep while I can.
Here's to tomorrow!
07-25-2006, 11:47 AM
Good morning ladies!
Well-I was POP yesterday and I hit the gym too. It was almost 100 degrees yesterday too (96-97?) and the gym was hot in spite of the air conditioning. Anyway-I did this cool Dancer's Workout class-which reminded me of teh yoga booty ballet workout-but more intense. Lots of core conditioning. And then I did an hour of Turbo Kickboxing-wow! I was sweating so much I could wring the sweat out of my hair. Even the instructor was soaked!
I had a lot of energy after that so I got some laundry done and finally around 8 got my blended shake and some broccoli and watched Project Runway. All in all-a very good evening!
HeatherCP-sounds like you got your hands full! I'm jealous-think I need to look into the foster thing soon-maybe today!
07-25-2006, 12:02 PM
Wow JulieMarie you go girl!!! Im not much on going to the gym I have my treadmill at home and im trying to work up to do the workout mode on there that goes from 2.0-4.0 in intervals but my treadmill is so much faster than some others i have been on in fact the one i use at this hotel my BF and go to for weekend getaways their 3.0 is the same speed as my 2.0 at home so im working up to 4.0 lol im doing 3.0 right now for about 3 min right now was doing 2 min last week. I start at 2.0 and work up to 3.0 and then work back down over a 20 min period. I realize its starting off slow but hey gotta start somewhere. I also have an elliptical however, i still have to put it together might try to do that tonight. A friend of the family his girlfriend lost 50lbs just using the elliptical she started off at 5 min a day and did it everyday and has worked her way up but i dont think she changed her eating habits.
ohhhh GL at looking into the Foster thing let us know how that goes!!
Kristi sorry you have been having some challenges. I am with you I have some coming up with weekend. Trying to plan for them now so i dont blow it.
Already had my shake today drinking a bottle of water and eating my apple right now. I was not POP yesterday but OP i think i might have gone over on my starches. But not bad i just had a yeast roll at dinner. Onward and downward (on the scale!!)
Have a POP day boost gals!!!
07-25-2006, 12:12 PM
Kristi-we do need to hook up-silly that we haven't already! What part of town do you live in? I'm in NE . . . .
Britt-you're right-gotta start somewhere and it's better not to start doing too much cuz then you burn out . . .
And i don't even allow rolls in my house!
07-25-2006, 12:16 PM
Well JulieMarie im usually good about avoiding the bread even though I love it but last night i couldnt resist lol. Normally I dont fix enough for myself to have a piece so its not a problem but of course with the yeast rolls they come in the alum. container and you fix them all together. I should look on the package and see how bad i really was lol.
Good idea not to let them in the house.
07-25-2006, 01:55 PM
Hey boost chicks.
just got back from WI. I was pretty down this morning because home scale had me up but at WI i was down .4oz. not as much as i expected so i'm even more down and i had a dumb counselor. I told you gals about them switching me to green and measuring today but of course that didnt happen. She said "green is from 128lbs you are no where near 128lbs, you're gonna starve your body" i was like well the caroline (the store manager) said that i could switch to green but she was like "you have to be at least 5lbs away from 128 to switch" so i didnt argue. I dont think she gets that their scale is with me having jeans on and clothes. If i wasnt wearing anything my body weight is below 133lbs. i'm just like whatever. also she didnt measure me because she said that she wants the girl that has been measuring me to measure me and she's on vaca. wont be back until next week. I'm wondering what will happen if that girl quits. Also at the end she's trying to sell me the $32 new cookbook. she's like "this is a better cookbook, its like a real one. the other 1 was mostly like common sense". i was like no its a bit too much for me right now. If the other 1 was like common sense why were they selling it?? ahhh i'm just having a bad day so far. I feel like having them put me on hold for a week so i dont have to go there. i really hope the scale starts moving a bit more, i'm so close. Anyway glad to hear you gals are all doing ok.
Heather did you end up going to the pool? if so how was it? i had my 1st swimming lesson last night. It was scary but fun. How are the boys today? Darn scales, they all need to be destroyed. I can name many foods that need to be outlawed. Hope you are having a better day today.
Juliemarie & Britt thats great getting exercise, i was exercising every day but put it on hold for a little because i was stalling, maybe i need to start back. I have an elliptical and love it. I was doing 1/2 hr and 5mi every morning. really gets the heart rate going and is not so harsh on the knees. when you are heavier also the treadmill is really brutal to your legs. & Britt any exercise is good, i really need to start again maybe that will help.
Kristi goodluck this weekend and dont let the scales get you down. something i need to tell myself. Just try to do the best you can. when i do that i find that i can really do good.
well POP so far and staying that way, chat with you gals later, thanks for letting me vent. I feel a little better.
07-25-2006, 02:32 PM
Hello ladies! Are we boosting this afternoon? I am doing well so far today!
Debbie: We didn't make it to the pool. We had a caseworker come by today so we didn't get out. But we will make it before summer is over I am sure!
Kristi: You can do this cocktail party! I have confidence in you! Besides if you lived in a cave you wouldn't have internet and you wouldn't know US!
Juliemarie: Way to go on your work out and your food!
Well the boys are both in bed...(we didn't get the other baby) and I am going to do dishes a few other chores! Later boosters!
07-26-2006, 12:31 PM
Boost Gals where are you??????? :mag:
Well I had WI this morning and was down another .2 not much but ill take it. A loss is a loss is a loss!!!
I had a little problem being hungry last night and I told them at the center and she sat there and stared at my diary and looked and looked and looked and said well you could always split your la lite in the afternoon and save half for evening in case you get hungry. It was like she was looking for something in my diary that i did wrong she isnt my fav she isnt very friendly just get ya in and out so she can move on to the next person.
Hope all of you are doing well check back in later...
07-26-2006, 12:56 PM
Morning my boost buddies.
britt congrats on the loss. sorry about the stupid counselor. the other night i also finished everything for the day and needed something sweet quick, dont know why but had a craving for sweet so i made some crystal lite and had a glass of that and then i was ok. i'm not sure its very filling but it satisfied my sweet craving. i read in the july friends katie suggested some tea or coffee. maybe that will do it. if you dont want just plain water then crystal lite or some diet soda may help.
nothing new going on here, i'm getting tired of my home scale. i have to weigh myself like 4 times and sometimes the #'s are different. i may go WI tomorrow, i only go 2 times a week. we'll see what the evil scale says tomorrow. if its a loss i'll be content, even a small 1. where is everyone else??? hope you all are having a good day so far. POP so far for me. trying to stay strong.
07-26-2006, 02:10 PM
Hey Debbie & Kristi
JulieMarie, HeatherCP, Sommer, who am i missing... well anyway the brain is shot today and the rest of the boost gals... Come out and play!!!!
07-26-2006, 02:39 PM
i'm here! Just a bit busy;) Yesterday was good-2 days in a row POP! Had a baby shower to go to last nite-didn't have the cheesecake (I held the baby while everybody else ate!). Since I went to the gym after work, showered and went straight to the shower-it was a good nite since I couldn't do any boredom eating. When I got home late-I drank my shake real quick and went to bed.
We're on reg program today, right? I need to go bacj and look at the schedule . . .
07-26-2006, 03:06 PM
you started on the 17th right Juliemarie? if so we're on regular today and tomorrow. :carrot: whoohoo:carrot: for staying strong, mmm cheesecake.
07-26-2006, 03:07 PM
Yeah-the cheesecake did look good-but it's kinda easy resisting when other people are around. When I'm alone-it's another story. I'm my own worst enemy!
07-26-2006, 03:21 PM
i know what you mean, i'm home all day with 2 kids and no adults to see me doing something wrong, it takes alot to resist that cabinet full of goodies but i have to stay strong.
kristi mmm homemade cookies. you gals sometimes just make me crave these things. we should outlaw these words on the board. i've been good for a while, i hope a crash is not coming on.
07-26-2006, 03:50 PM
Well JulieMarie I would imagine that the baby was more enjoyable than the cheesecake anyway lol. Good Job on resisting!!!!
Im supposed to be on my last shake day but since I had breakfast and used up 2 starches and we are having pasta tonight im just gonna do a POP day. I went home to exercise and I almost didnt but i made myself and i feel better for it :carrot:
ok im gonna eat my late lunch now lol.
ohhhh wait debbie speaking of goodies in the cabinet my mom of all people brought home 3 boxes of no no's (cupcakes, twinkies and something else) After she just told the guys last week that nothing unhealthy was coming through that door haha!!
07-26-2006, 11:17 PM
What a day..I took the boys to the zoo today with my best friend and two other foster moms and their kids....we were kind of like our own parade...11 kids from 4 days old to 13 and 4 adults...But the good news is I managed to stay OP! YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! We are taking care of the little girl that we had over the weekend again. Her foster mom had to out of town on an emergency. But on Friday I am getting another boy! He's 5 months old and they keep saying it will be a short term placement, but we are learning that in the "system" short term doesn't always mean short term! LOL Well I am off for now. I am exhausted and behind in my housework! Thinking about going to WI tomorrow depending on my schedule! I'll keep you posted.
07-27-2006, 11:50 AM
morning boost buddies.
well yesterday started out good and ended really bad. Some curley fries, mini corndog and just went downhill from there. i shouldnt have cooked anything since DH said that he will have whatever was in the fridge but i was trying to be a good wife and make him some kind of dinner which was supposed to be turkey burger and fries for him and my dad but ended up trying a couple of things and then couldnt stop. i'm paying for it this morning though. up about 1lb on home scale but maybe its mostly water. i'll do some lemon water either today or tomorrow and maybe things will go back. :crossed:
hope everyone else had a POP day yesterday. today's a new day for me so aiming for a POP day.
Heather - congrats on the new baby, i dont know how you do it, i cant even take my 2 sometimes. you are a great mom. i am not a very patient person lately.
juliemarie, kristi, britt, and all other boost buddies
07-27-2006, 12:14 PM
Debbie-that has to be hard-cooking things you can't eat! Any reason your whole family can't eat LAWL style and save treats like fries and corndogs for restaurants?
HeatherCP-you definately have a full house! What fun!
Britt-how's it going today?
Kristi-hope yesterday went better than the day before . . . .
Well-I had another stellar day-with the exception of missing some fruit servings-my banana at home got just nasty in all this heat (which has dissipated-it is quite lovely now . . ) and that was the only fruit I had in the house. I wasn't really hungry anyway-so I bagged it. Need to do a bit of shopping . . . .So-technically I guess I can't call it POP-but I don't care-I doing it anyway. Any day without a cheat is a good day:D
Today is going to be rough-a catered lunch that is always a mystery until we get there and dinner with friends tonite (Thai take-out). I'm not picking up the food-so I don't have much control. I requested chicken and veggies . . . .we'll see. I'll try to save starches and will skip at least one lite. Then I just have to deal with the sodium.
Tomorrow our lab is going out to lunch-I'm going to try to check out the menu online . . .
07-27-2006, 03:31 PM
Today has gone well so far! And now all the kids are napping!! WHOOO HOOO! Just finished my La bar and a yogurt snack. So far so good!
I am actually enjoying this little boost challenge! Great job so far boosters!
07-27-2006, 09:59 PM
hmm that lb will be gone but what about the other 2 i put on today?
glad to see you gals doing good, i had another off plan day. hubby was home today and that always makes it 100 times harder. i was totally off plan today. i seem to do better with the slimfast days, thank God i'm back to that tomorrow. We'll see in the morning what kind of damage i did today.
Juliemarie & Kristi it is so hard to cook separately, most days i'm great at resisting but when i've deprived myself for so long its hard to keep resisting. Most days i cook lawl style for everyone but the days i dont cook junk comes into the house and just screws up everyone, only on tuesday i cooked the junk and today we were out all day and i just had things i shouldnt have. i'm definately back on tomorrow and doing lemon water to get all the water weight off. i'm not going to dwell too much on my 2 days of giving in (the weight my linger though), i'm going to move onto a POP week from here.
 to all my other boost buddies.
07-28-2006, 02:10 PM
Well girls it seems that the past two days have not been my best something about to many starches and not enough fruits/veggies HAHA!!!! Oh well im trying to get back on right now! Im going home to eat lunch and I decided to not WI today im fairly certain that TOM will arrive this weekend as scheduled.
Sorry dont have time for personals trying to locate one of our truck drivers so i can rip him a new one lol Later boost Gals KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!
07-28-2006, 04:02 PM
everyone's a bit busy today huh?
well good morning, eh afternoon.
the baby just woke up and i didnt even cook dinner yet and i have swimming lessons tonight, ahh too much to do so just saying a quick hello and hope you gals having a good POP day, mine good so far POP and planning to stay that way.
well later everyone
07-28-2006, 06:21 PM
Kristi--you'll do great! You are already in the right mindset--so enjoy and have a great time with your company. I gave up on spotless years ago--we just shoot for decent now--life's too short to be cleaning all the time! Have fun at the birthday party--we have both coming up in Sept. and Oct.--too fast!
07-29-2006, 10:48 PM
went to WI and was down 4 pounds. Was off plan totally today due to circumstances (i posted over on Friends and Losers). But back on the wagon tomorrow!
07-30-2006, 11:21 PM
Well, so far I've done really well this weekend. Was down a pound at COD-so I undid last weekend's damage plus some. So-no binges for me this weekend. It's a proud moment, let me tell ya. I've had 3 or 4 lousy weekends in a row. I had to get out of the rut.
Yesterday was really busy. I took a bunch of clothes into a resale shop. I spent over 3 hours "prepping" the clothes-looking through them, pressing them, de-cat-hairing them. And they only took a few things. I did make $70 though. I packed up the rest (11 bags) and dropped them off for charity. I can't believe how many clothes I had. Unfortunately-I'm getting worse;)
The better I look-the more I buy. I've got the cutest outfit on today :D
I've picked up my nephew in Salem and we're going to have fun the next couple of days-hiking, OMSI, maybe the amusement park . . . It will be challenging to stay OP-but I figure we'll pick up subway for sandwiches to take with us and I'll do my best.
Anyway-I do have to come into the lab the next couple of mornings for about an hour (my nephew doesn't mindd-he likes to play with dry ice and liquid nitrogen!) so I'll try to check in . . . .
JM - just read your post....WTG on the binge free w/e!!!
I am inspired to try the same for myself, starting right this moment.
I have had a blowout since Friday. Everyday I got up thinking I was hopping back on the wagon...but Noooooooooo!:stars:
(I won't go into details, but it wasn't pretty)
I am going to follow your lead and stay on track for 7 days.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Good Morning Everyone!
I picked up a cake from Costco to celebrate a family birthday this past weekend. I had it sitting in my lap on the drive home ( I was in the passenger seat) those cakes are heavy.....I looked down and in the corner with the price tag it said that the cake weighed 9.25 pounds - pretty much the amount I had lost this month! Needless to say I DID NOT EAT any cake, I didn't want that back on my butt!! Good motivator! :carrot:
Start Date: July 7, 2006
NOTHING tastes as good as skinny feels!
08-01-2006, 01:24 PM
ok boost girls how are we doing??????
08-03-2006, 11:54 AM
Good morning ladies!
I took my nephew home yesterday so now I can catch up and check in . . . .
I've done great the past few days-with the exception of not quite enough water.
But considering all the stuff I've been doing and eating out-I'm quite happy and the scale is still going down.
My NSV-hiking Multnomah Falls! The trail to the top of the falls is 1.2 miles uphill-no breaks. It's 45 degree switchback trails the whole way. Anyway-back in Feb i did it and had to stop at least half a dozen times to rest and catch my breath. I did it the other day without stopping at all. I was pretty stoked. It's always cool to see a measurable gain in fitness level like that.
Besides hiking-we did OMSI and saw Pirates and attending my Neighborhood Nite Out which was a lot of fun. Games and prizes (pinata!) for the kids.
He was really good for me-but he has a lot of energy and is extremely loud. He's also quite violent. He annilhilated the pinata-yelling DIE! DIE! -I could hear him clear across the courtyard.
But he loved Toby -they're best buds now. Toby was quite bummed when he didn't come home with me last nite. Roxie was relieved though-she didn't mind him petting her but I could tell she was worried he'd try to pick her up and cart her around too. She spent the last few days on my bed . . .
Well-I suppose I should get some work done now . . Hmm . . .
08-04-2006, 01:04 PM
Well I have obvioulsy been MIA huh lol I had family come in last weekend and its been run run run since. I leave for vacation on monday afternoon and have a cram packed weekend so I will probably not be back till after my vacation. Hope everyone is ending up their boost strong! As for me I have only been semi-OP since last weekend so I think I will just restart my boost after Vacay. Anyone with me on another boost????
Keep up the good work boost gals see ya when i get back!!!
08-04-2006, 01:07 PM
Britt-I plan on going right into another Boost after this one-I'll be doing TO on Sun and Mon-I can't do TO on Sat like I'm supposed to. It's a long walk day (20mi)-so it's really not an option. I'm just going to try my hardest to stay POP! Actually-I'm sure I'll need to add some extra servings of stuff-so I'll try to at least eat all OP foods.
08-04-2006, 02:10 PM
Britt - I need to kick myself in gear. I'm in for TO Mon and Tues if you are. I'll go through boost with you.
08-10-2006, 11:24 AM
Well I've decided to try the boost thing. Currently on Day 4 did TO then two days regular and tomorrow will do the slimdown.
Biz you still doing it?
08-10-2006, 11:35 AM
I am-I'm on day 5 . . .
08-10-2006, 11:36 AM
JM- so just a day ahead of me. Great! How many pds do you lose doing it the first time?
08-10-2006, 11:38 AM
A whopping 3 lbs:D But actually-as slow as it's been, that wasn't so bad. Of course-if I'd stick the the plan, I'd lose more. I'm really determined to have the next 3 weekends be OP.
08-10-2006, 11:41 AM
JM- I hear you. I have recently rededicated myself to being POP! I know you can do it!
08-10-2006, 11:44 AM
08-10-2006, 12:13 PM
Hi girls! I'm here too! I'm on day 6. I did TO Sat and Sun, reg plan Mon and Tues and had a shake yesterday in place of lunch... (but then had a not on plan dinner due to an ER trip)... anyway... today I am chugging the lemon water this morning and will have a shake for lunch. I'm glad there are others doing this too!
