100 lb. Club - Hello from the Midwest

View Full Version : Hello from the Midwest

07-17-2006, 01:11 AM

My name is Elycia and I am looking forward to losing over 100 lbs. I have twin girls that are 8 months old and while I love my little girls with all my heart, the pregnancy has done some horrible things to my body. I am just terribly out of shape now and really need to get crackin on this weight loss thing.

You know the old saying "Misery loves company", so I am "happy" to see that others have such a large amount of weight to lose. By happy I mean, I am glad that I am not alone and there are others that understand the challenges of losing such a large amount of weight. I am hoping to buddy up with a few here and maybe get a checkin together for encouragement. If anyone is interested, please post here so we can put our heads together and think of a kewl name for our checkin and get this weight off once and for all!!!!

Hope to hear from some of you guys!

:welcome: (back ;)) I love that you are "looking forward to losing over 100 pounds," because that is just the attitude you need to lose over 100 pounds. You have it set in your mind, and you will accomplish it if you keep that mindset.

Much luck and much strength as you begin your journey!!!!!

Hey LURKERS ~ she's offering a great opportunity to get a new group started!! Why don't you join her? You will all be new together!!! Come on ~ don't be shy now!!!!

Although summer can be a little slow with people on vacation, we have some great challenges, a weekly weigh-in, a 2006 losing thread and other ongoing thing where you can jump right in. We're a great bunch of buddies!

*a lurker steps out of the shadows*

I'm from the Midwest, too! Isn't it HOT?!?!?!

I would love to join a group that would keep me accountable for these last 98lbs :) I have a 15mo old daughter who is getting harder and harder to keep up with by the day!

Let's keep in touch!

:welcome: to phoxiekat as well. This is a great group.

Wow, you guys rawk!!! Thanx for the welcome. It is so nice to be part of such an encouraging group. It is also nice to meet others that have succeeded in losing 100+ pounds. That is great!

So far. I have gotten up to work out 2 days in a row! Woohoo! Monday, I attempted to do Kickbutt Steamin Cardio. Uh, word to the wise, Steamin Cardio is probably not a good workout to start with if you have been inactive for a while. :) Today, I tried a little more toned down workout by Kathy Kaehler called Total Basic Fitness. It was pretty good. I did most of it. My girls woke up and so I had to stop. It was definitely more my speed.

In terms of eating, I am still working on that. I find it best to work on one thing at a time. So my main focus is getting into the habit of working out regularly. However, I am trying to make healthier food selections.

Okay, so those of you that volunteered and came out of lurkdom, I'm calling you out. CatrinaH & phoxiekat! I'd love for you guys to be part of the check-in! I have lost weight before and from past experience, it has helped so much to have others to check in with. The fact that we have quite a bit of weight to lose, we can really help each other through when times get tough. So, I would like to get started as soon as we can, please let me know what you are thinking! You can pm me if you like or post here.

Hope to hear from you guys soon and anyone else that would be interested.

Got my second reality check of the day , docs office called, I don't have lymes disease, Yahooo, though they are still pondering the elevation of another test, Well they can ponder and I will get busy getting healthier, we will see what that lab work shows in a month :)
I have over a hundred pounds to lose though , Still got to figure out this profile thing Hmmmm.

Hi Melody,
Thanks for the welcome, your weight loss is encouraging.
well since i work the graveyard shift i think i better get some sleep. Nite Ladies

07-18-2006, 10:28 PM
Thanx for the kind words Melody! I look forward to getting to know you better as well.

Ann, I am so glad you are into check-ins! Okay, so let's brainstorm. What we should call our check-in?

Dieting Divas
Losin' Large
Biggest Losers

I know...so cliche. :) If you have any other ideas, please post. Now other than obviously losing weight, what are some of your other goals? Are you planning on working out? Are you wanting to set short term goals and reach them first? I'd love to hear.

:carrot: Welcoming others and ideas. Even if you don't join the check-in, I'd love to hear ideas on check-in names.

:wave:I'M HERE! I'M HERE!

The name of our new group really doesn't matter to me, so anything you decide will be fine.

One of my goals is to start working out. I'm usually pretty good about the eating, but when I get home at night and feed, bathe, and put the wee one to bed...I'm pooped. I sit and do nothing until I go to bed. I know this needs to change.

I also have 10lb mini-goals that I keep track of. I think this helps me by not looking at the 'big picture' all the time...too daunting.

OK, I've blabbed enough! :o

Just another WELCOME!!! This is a great place!

Phoexikat, I am so happy that you decided to join. What is so awesome is that it looks like our ultimate weight loss is about the same. We want to get to about the same weight. Kewl! My goal is 147 and it is a completely ridiculous reason. When I got my license at 18 (too long ago), my weight said 147 and I have never changed it. The only time I plan to change it is if I am BELOW 147. So, that is why I am shooting for 147. Plus I looked so darn good then. :) I wasn't too thin and I wore about a size 8 jeans which is perfect for me. When I slim down, I am a very muscular build and look thinner than I weigh. These days you just can't tell. :)

Well, I guess since you don't really have an opinion one way or the other, we will go with Winning Losers. At this point, since it is just a few of us, we can do a monthly checkin. I will start it up for the remainder of the month and go from there. We can checkin for anything really. Just to say hey, to log in a workout, to jot down what you ate for the day. Just anything. It will work if we check in with each other regularly, even daily or several times a day if you choose.

Well, I look forward to it. I will get it set up.

Thank you Wyellen for the welcome. :)

Have a great day all, I really should have had a salad though i wasn't planning on working so late, my mornings are everyone elses nights, so Good night to all and Take care of yourselves

Mods, I have a question. For the checkin, am I suppose to post the check in here or am I suppose to do it in the support page area?

07-19-2006, 11:12 PM
Midwest-ish here too! I wouldn't mind being part of a group that checks in with each other. I could use the kick in the rear!! Welcome!

I'm from the Midwest, too! Isn't it HOT?!?!?!

I used to be in the Midwest... grew up there... and yes it is HOT. That's one of the reasons I live in Seattle. :) But I do enjoy going back to visit family and old friends now and then.:carrot:

I only have 60lb to lose but it feels like 100 because I have been at this weight for 20 yr. I have 10 kids and take prednisone and get quite discouraged over losing weight. I wish there were a place to read peoples stories besides Goal. There are about 9 stories there but I notice by the tickers that a lot of people have lost a lot of weight!

Morning Ladies,
