Default Questions - Arc Trainer vs. Elliptical Trainer

I went to the local gym today and they did not have an elliptical trainer so I got on the arc trainer. It seems to work you a lot more on the legs. I guess it is because there is no hand motion? Also the movement of the legs seemed different and I was wondering if it actually works different muscles on the legs because of the way you move.

I could only do about ten minute sessions on the arc so I switched from the recumbant bike for 10 minutes to the arc for ten minutes. I did this twice. I was sweating like crazy when I was done.

I also have to be really conscienous of standing up straight on the arc even more than the elliptical.

Every machine works your muscles slightly differently. I found the Arc trainer very uncomfotable, but still a good cardio workout.

I tried the arc trainer for the first time not long ago. I've used it twice so far cause I am scared og it like I used to be scared of the elliptical. It also gives me a great workout, I sweat loads and I've noticed i burn about the same as I do on the elliptical, just slightly less actually, but at least it helps train different muscles. I'd say they are both good. My gym has arc trainers with Handles too, so you can work the upper body too. But I like the one without better.

My gym also has one. My legs feel a little stronger when I get off the arc trainer more so then the elliptical. I do however like both. I think incorperating both machines into your cardio will be benificial.
