Hi's been a wk or so. I feel the need to add this bit of info. for the lurkers,as well as those that ARE NOT doing great in this long,uphill, winding road to healthy. First wk.,I lost 6 pounds,then couldn't go to the bathroom,and gained 2back..then took the recommended fish tablets that the center sells (for way too much $$in my opinion)and it worked,:carrot: and then back down the 2lbs. I had gained..Funny thing is (not really) I am being on program,I'm not cheating,I may eat an ounce more of chicken in a day than I'm supposed too, or a extra serving of veggies..but if I do that is the only thing I'm doing that would be not exact. I'm cool w/the salt thing,although I miss it,and I'm drinking my water. Sunday night we went out to dinner. I ordered and ate appropriately, no bread,and butter! half of my petite sirloin,cup of veg.soup..really close to perfect,but with my glass of wine.(less fruit that day)I weighed in on Monday,(hadn't gone to the bathroom AGAIN,GEEZ in 48hrs.) and I'm up a lpound! This is killer for me! I am following the plan as far as what I can have and can't..The only thing my councelor says is I'm not eating enough,and "you arn't eating the bars are you"?..So in answer to my own question prior to plunking down my small fortune is, Yes,it seems they do plan this whole diet around eating the expletive bars. SO, I stuff one in when I'm hungry,and not close to 'my' food, just to tied me over..or else I wouldn't make it past the drive in food. Which I am proud to say I sail past. I still have not gotten the hang of eating more often and smaller meals I suppose. It's like if I did I'd be chained to the frig. The thing the councilor says,if you are eating on your plan (purple,and a tuff one imo) then YOU WILL lose weight...Hello??? how about now?!just to keep my fire My body is resisting my efforts,AND I AM HUNGRY..AND NOT LOSING...DRAT!:?: This feedback from my personal experience is necessary I think for those like me in a stumble period,& so you know that it's not all a piece of cake (yum) & you are not alone. It would be easy to just say it didn't work for me and understandable..heck, I would love to have that cheezeburger/fries with mayo. However all I keep saying is "do I want the meal for 15mins of happy,or looser pants forever?":flow1: Feel free you all to give me advice,pep-talk,hugs,kick in the pants,or anything else that would not be fattening,and make me feel better.:hug: ~focus

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time lately. I hope that you mentioned to your COD that you are feeling hungry, because you should NOT be feeling hungry on this plan!

Umm-I'm on the red plan w/ lites-so I don't understand why you're on purple . . .

If you don't do the bars-you should at minimum be on red IMO. So-she's right in a way-you should be eating more food-just not necessarily the bars!

I think you are doing great for joining just last month! I had problems with not being able to go to the bathroom also, it's mainly due to all of the vitamins they make you take. A stool softener once per day got things going for me normally and the weight started to drop. Keep up the good work.

I take 2 SF Fiber Ones daily and it's the only thing that's really helped me stay regular since this program.

DH started at 232 and was on Purple with Lites--no clue how they decide your plan and I know the guys lose waaayyyy faster than us--so not fair. He's been on maintenance now for a long time and is holding great at 193 (along with eating and beer!! again--not fair!) Just a little more info. JM--with all your exercise I can see you being on a higher plan.

Boo-that's not taking into account my exercise-technically I should be on red plus-but remember, my COD doesn't think walking is exercise;) I add food on days I exercise to equal the red plus plan. so I'm sorta half and half.

But like i said-if she doesn't do the bars anyway-she should be on the red plan.

Focus-i know you think you're eating a lot of food-but would more regular food be appealing than trying to choke down the bars?

Focused - I am close to your weight, and am on red with the lites.

I know the program is expensive, but when I joined, I told myself I would buy into their program for at least six months. That means doing whatever they told me to do. I would prefer no lites, but I am eating all of my food and eating the lites because that's the program. I found that I can lose the weight, and not be hungry, if I work with the program, and stop fighting it, or trying to incorporate what I "know" from past dieting experiences/failures. That is why I joined LAWL... I knew too many ways to "cheat" but not cheat on Weight Watchers. A little here and a little there add up to a lot, whether it be cheats that add up to the scale stopping, or little by little POP days that add up to losses.

My advice is this:

1. Ask your COD if you are really on the correct plan. Like I said, I am areound your weight and on red with the lites. I will move down to purple in another 7 pounds or so. Also, if it matters, my COD is a corporate center, which I think may have better trained counselors.

2. Eat all of your food in the combinations recommended. For example, for breakfast it was suggested I have 1S, 1/2P, 1Fr and 1D. I do mix around the dairy, but try to stick to that for breakfast. The rest of the day is divided up as well, and I have found that when I stick to the recommendations, the portions are divided up which keeps the blood sugar level, and keeps me from being starved between meals.

3. Unless you have some physical aversion to the Lites, just eat them. They are not optional on your food program to be added when you are hungry, they are necessary calories. I know they are costly, so if you can't do them, tell the COD and they will add more food, but try to buy into the program whole heartedly for at least 3 months. You will find your body adapting to the program, and you will find everything getting easier.

I love my bars! I can't imagine "choking" them down--LOL. I am trying to not have 2 a day so I up my food but i am a sweet eater so they are fine with me.

I still can't believe your center doesn't consider your miles and miles of walking as exercise--what a crock. At least you've been doing this long enough to know what your body needs.

I agree--for anyone that doesn't like the bars then by all means--don't do them! Go up a plan. That's the beauty of this site--there is a lot more "real" information. I personally like my center (even though I gripe!) but there are sure some whoppers out there. I think the most important thing to remember is THEY WORK FOR US!!! So we need to be more assertive with our wants/needs.

Boo-don't get me started on my COD re the walking . . .;) As for the bars-I'm getting so sick of them. They discontinued my favorite-fruit and oat. I sub a luna for one of them almost every day. Remember-I've been eating them for over a year now. I was bound to get sick of them.

Deets-red plus adds 1 dairy, 1 fruit, and a starch.

Let me start off by saying this is not an easy you know. Then let me follow that by saying your body will regulate itself more when you are used to the plan a bit. I agree with other to add a stool softner or fiber one or something like that...I think I am at that point that i am going to have to do that too. But also know that your body will adjust to normal for you. If you've been eating cheeseburgers and fries, and all those other yummy not so good for you foods your body isn't used to healthy food! It will get there!

Now as far as the lites...I've reached a point that I hate them...but I bought them and I am eating them because I don't want to add more food. I am on Red, and my COD will move me to purple when I reach 239. I seem to really struggle with the program and staying on it but find my encouragement here and keep pressing on. Let us help you get through on this program...that's why we are all here! And to paraphrase Bob the Builder (yes I really said that...) can we do this??? YES WE CAN!

Focused, it does get easier. It really does. I've had the same bumps in the road that you're experiencing. I'm on Purple w/o Lites and I've lost. Eventually things will even out but boy don't I know that some times is sure doesn't seem that way.

I have yelled and even cried at the COD when I've had gains instead of losses. I get really frustrated. I can't TELL you how many time's I've said to my counselors that I was "tired of this diet controlling my life".

I agree that you should check and make sure you're on the proper plan. I started on Red because of the no lites, and then was moved to Purple.

I wish I had some really wise words for you, but... Just know that I know exactly what you're going through.:hug:

Focused- Hang in there. WE tend to tie our emotional state to whether we lose, gain or maintain. We feel like dogsh*T when the scale does not move down but are higher than a kite when it moves. I have gotten so frustrated thinking of all the food I have sacrificed (ice cream cones, pizza, chips etc) and how good I have been in eating POP only to have no weightloss or worse a gain. Try reminding yourself how shortlived the pleasure of eating the ice cream, the pizza or the chips is and how it is much more fun to have loose pants, or more energy.

My first month I only lost 9 lbs and considering how overweight I am, I was initially dissappointed because I thought the weight would fly off at first. It doesn't always. However you may have a woosh coming up (sudden unexpected large weightloss).

Have you set a mini goal for yourself yet?

It takes time - for most of us, our weight problems have been in the making for years!

Also, I find that no matter how close to the plan I try to be when I eat out- I invariably stall after that.

Focus- I know that the roller coaster can be really tough to deal with. I agree with the others though, you are not on the right plan. Also, you really need to make a decision about the bars. Either do them, 2 every day, or tell your COD that you are not going to do them so that they can adjust your food plan accordingly. There is no halfway with the bars, it is all or nothing. Thanks buds;) I have no idea who gets what colors and why,but realize it's something to do with start weight/excercise,and maybe age..maybe I'm too old for another color:D lol..metabolism and all..I didn't know about the walking thing..I COUNT IT,and write it down. It does matter. I do the gym twice weekly with the treadmill/and mostly lift weights during the hr.I'm there. The odd days I walk,not miles,but at least 20-30min. On the purple I can have 2pieces of diet bread. As far as the lites goes I'm not crazy about them,and I'm not real fond of getting to the point where I'm dependant on them..but I'm sticking one in there just because I'm supposed to.I've always been a good veggie eater,fresh every day,so that's not/ever have been a prob.I'm not a fruit eater,but I am doing that happily for the inbetween times,and in the evening..I think for me the bars are great for when I get stuck,and am hungry,a convience. Cheezeburgers will continue to be a of mine,I just don't have it anymore. I think too my body reacts better,and hums along better when i'm not eating alot of meat,but stick to poultry,and veggies I notice I don't have the BM blues then..maybe I should ask about that..If I can sub.something for one of the bars..but since they know I don't eat 2 daily,you'd think they would have already told me eh?

I know that there is no easy way to lose weight, it's all about giving your body what it NEEDS depending on many things,and not give it food as rewards,celebrations,the blues,etc. So much is involved with the process,and when I see questions that ask in some way if there is some secret,some EASY way that will drop the that this lawl plan will do some magic that other plans won't then I felt the need to post this so that everyone see's it isn't always a easy street, even if you follow a plan..there are rought spots,and the only secret I've found is to keep at it day after day,and be patient. Now that I see that in print,I need mostly to follow my own advice.;) :hug: Thanks again,tomorrow's another weigh in..and I am good to go..hope I ate enough

IN regards to the bars...
I also have a hard time eatting two in one day. I wasn't crazy about many of the flavors, but I tried the shakes. So everyday I have one bar and one shake. I use 1/2 cup of ff milk, 4-6 ice cubes 1/2c water(if needed) and it makes it really thick and I feel like I'm eatting ice cream.

Good luck, it will come off if you follow. Measure yourself maybe you've lost inches but not the weight!

I agree with JulieMarie and Biz, about asking them if you're on the correct plan. The LAWL plan can work with or without Lites. You aren't obligated to do them.

The COD started me on Red, but moved me to Red Plus when I told them I wasn't doing the Lites. When I got to 230, they changed my plan back to Red, which I'm on now. The only thing I'm exercising is patience.

My COD told me it was okay to only eat one lite a day (but she clarified that by saying I should never tell anyone at the COD she said it was okay - LOL). So when I did bars (I'm not doing them now) I would have one a day and then add about 1/2 protein (never really measured - just added a little extra chicken to my salad at lunch) and it worked great for me. Hang in there, chickie!

Focus...I totally understand your frustration. I have a history of eating disorders so for the first 2 months on the plan...I didn't let the counselors tell me what my weight was. Just whether I was up or down. I didn't even know my original weight for 8 weeks. I am totally blessed with the center I go to. I've lost 42 pounds and wanted to lose another 40. But I am so afraid of gaining it all back that I asked if I could work on keeping the first 40 off for the rest of the summer and then in the fall, if I want to, I can start working on the other 40. They are perfectly fine with that and I feel a big sense of relief.

I have to admit it was a relief to read some of the posts in here. The first time I did LA I lost weight fast and daily and this time around I am literally eating POP every day and not losing anything. So yeah I am glad to hear that others had some issues in the beginning with the weight not just falling off as it seemed to the last time I did the plan. I went away for work this week which makes it really REALLY hard to stay OP due to life on the road but I did it the first night just fine. NExt day, i blew it. Big time. I got frustrated, said "not losing anything on plan, so why not go off?" And ate pizza and creme brulee cheesecake from bertuccis (may fav restaurant) and enjoyed every bite. Today I am regretting it now that I am home and within what I like to call "scale range". Yikes. So back to it. I think the plan is easy to follow and the benefits to me , even though the scale isn't showing anything right now, were a fast increase in energy and overall just feeling good that no matter what, I am making an attempt to do something to correct a problem that's there and not going away. So give yourself a pat on the back and think about how much better you feel inside even if its not ready to show up on the outside. Its a struggle that seems useless when nothing is working properly but our bodies are extraordinary machines and hopefully (for both of us) the weight loss will show on the scale at some point. I am not at a center right now because i had a bunch of plans from my previous round. I am doing red with lites right now which was a switch from purple which i used last time around because I am exercising pretty regularly. Usually only doing one lite perday though.

All day yesterday I was saying outloud,and mentally.."I do not want to see that '3'...since i've been yoyoing around that 230 mark..started at 236 (gaud that's the first time i've EVER shared that info.with anybody) all day I'm saying this..I better not see that 3..or else! And when i got on,and saw the number moved down down down..both my councelor and myself said ALL RIGHT.:carrot: If it hadn't moved I was marching in with a few ideas to change..regarding the bars,and my color etc. I did have a ask what determines my being in purple,since a girlfriend (you guys)is red,and we're about the same weight yadayada...anyhow,she explained because I'm basicially healthy in all other areas,I excercise,and a whole bunch of stuff which Im not sure about anyway. I ran out of the bars today,and have 3boxes coming..but I did tell her if I dont' see continued success, I'm going to quit the bars,and reajust..she said here we go again..I'm taking the very expensive fish oil tablets but that doesn't always prove to be effective.:?: will keep on..pressing forward,focused,determined,and for goodness sake not so SERIOUS:stress: when i see a number I don't like. Thanks for being here,and I am so glad this post has helped others to see that not everyone drops every week even if their op. I'll try harder to remember that myself. Focused--congrats on the loss and what sounds like a successful talk with your COD. You will find what works for you--it just takes some time. On the EFA's, I'm not sure what they said they would do for you but the BIGGEST change I've seen from them is how amazing my skin and hair look and feel. The EFA's are like the super omegas and have a lot of health benefits (according to my niece who is working on her degree in nutrition). I'm sure there is something comparable at Walmart--some one here can probably tell us what they get. Good luck.

Hello all,and welcome to my world of yoyo...geezO,since I last posted I was down 2plus something, then I went down another 1/2 overnight..Thinking I had finially turned the corner.:D .haha. Went back over the weekend,carrying the whole weekend with me :o (if you know what I mean..)and of course weighed in at a 1lb.gain..:dizzy: that was monday..and right now,I look like I'm 8months pregnant,and with a no-go.:( The la person says I'm not eating enough..I understand all about that going into starvation thing..but don't think my body thinks its starving..My body just wants to go! I'm not cheating with bad choices,but occasionally I have a extra veggie,or fruit..but that is rare rare,and it's never junk food,or the 'wrong' stuff. But My goodness,my body is all out of wack on the bathroom routine,and i do not know how to fix it.:?: Tomorrow when I go in I just know what the story is going to be,and I dread it.. if it wasn't for this problem I'm having I'd be in pretty good shape. I'm losing according to the plan..but its up/down/up/down and I think all because of this..I take those little pills,and prunes,and it's still a 'no go' pun intended. Last time I went in they gave me a guy to check my progress..(I had told them I prefer women only my first day>) but I wanted to get in and out so I went ahead,nothing like talking to a guy about going to the bathroom...geesh.:o I asked could it be that "the bars" are causing me this problem? and they gave me a sheet of fiber foods..Hello? I'm eating a total of 7 veg/fruits a day!I am leaving on vacation in a week,and it would be sooooo nice to have this plan,and my body on the same page...I'm still focused,and committed,but this sure as heck puts a big ol'pain in my cheery attitude. YES!!!! The bars could DEFINITELY be doing that to you. If I were you I would stop using them for a week and see what happens. What color plan are you on now? Also, totally cut out the artificial sweeteners from your diet. They cause me to have terrrible gas, bloating, and constipation. Go to the health food store and buy a box of Stevia packets to sweeten your coffee and stuff. Stevia is a root, it will not give you any side effects. I know you are miserable right now, but this will get better, I promise.

Hi Katie...thanks for your kudo's on the bars..I went in today/weigh in..and still lost a 1/2 lb. even tho i haven't gone in several days! I know I'm following the program..My councelor said to do this: eat a prune juice/apple/conconction..twice a day/bake a apple/drink the tea 2xday/and go to 8 of those pills per day..I'm doing all of that but NOT eating the bars..I was able to 'move' today..buthey..(I want the regular to return to my life..we will see. I have a week b4 my dream cruise..and I at least want to go to the bathroom! But even with allthis...i am losing! Geezlouise. She told me to 'walk' I do..she said drink water..I'm over my prescribed intake..I leaving those bars alone for a few days,and waiting to see what happens..Of course this happens when I just got two new boxes for my vac.trip...which come in handy when your on the road...especially in Europe where I'm going..oh geewiz..I will be happy with the one size looser clothing..and do my very best to keep it that way while I'm gone...anybody here been on acruise before..let me tell you they feed you well..this will be a true goal is to come back without weight loose would not be realistic. laters.FOCUS...

Go to User CP, click on Edit Signature, that page will have a box of script on it that you put there when you made your tracker. In all of that jibberish is the numbers that you put in originally. Just replace the 231 with the new number, save it at the bottom of the page, and it is done!

My weigh in today was up + less than a quarter lb.gain:( Who knows what that is about,but I'm not worried (too much)..It seems this body of mine is resisting weightloss..although I guess 9 a month isn't too bad,but certainly isn't what I expected. I stopped the bars a few days ago,wanted to see if my body would work better without them. I'm having a heck of a time eating as many mini meals a day as I should..don't know how you all do it. And Katie,you've lost over 60lbs! I think I need a little more win-win (lose-lose) on my chart to keep me in this fousedandstrong mode. Maybe I need to focus on patience too.:D Today was my last day to check in while gone on vacation. I'll be going to Europe and be gone for 3wks.My goal is to maintain.I think It's unrealsitic to set my goal to lose weight while visiting several countries..BUT,I will not go hog wild either:dizzy: ..I plan on watching what I eat carefully,but still enjoying the foods of that particular country. I think the walking will off-set any extras..I'm not going to wish/or say hope as in "I hope I don't gain, Or I wish I wouldn't have gained",or eaten that etc. I know,and believe that I am still in charge of what goes in my mouth no matter what planet I'm on. I accept that responsibility fully.
That being said, I had to return 2 blouses I bought for my vacation because they were too big :carrot: I am down one size on top..of course it's the NOW I need to address the bottom.;) I'll be around for a few more days,and plan on checking in with all of you~Take care,Focused~

Focused, hope you have a great trip! Believe me, it has not all been easy, but oh, so worth it. It has been easy for me to eat meals and snacks all day though, because I have a daycare, and I feed the kids on a certain schedule. I eat when they eat, just not what they eat. I think that everyone needs to be on a bit of a schedule. Anyways, have a ton of fun, and we will see you in a few weeks!

Focused--WOW 3 weeks in Europe!! How exciting. I'm sure you'll walk your legs off and heck you have to try the local cuisine! I know trying to lose on vacation is next to impossible but I say enjoy your trip, do the best you can and if by chance you gain a few just work your tail off when you get home. I don't know about you, but for me this would be a once in a lifetime trip so enjoy!

ohhhhhh no fair can i go in your suitcase??? Well I went back in 1998 to London for a month with some side weekend and day trips to Wales, Scotland and Paris as well as various parts of England. But my main time was in London itself which by the way I LOVED!! and I did walk everywhere!!! I lost 20 lbs while i was there i think for two main reasons A) I walked everywhere and B) i drank water like it was going out of style my lips always felt dry lol. Anyway you will have a FAB time and cant wait to hear all about it when you get back!!! If you are going to Wales do me a favor and have a savory cheese baggette for me yummmyyyy!!

I didn't read all the responses. I also am not an LA weight loss person. I do want to add that since my second child I've had trouble going to the restroom. This affects my scale. Mine has nothing to do with what I ate (though yours might). 3 things keep me from taking my numbers too seriously. 1. If I haven't gone to the bathroom lately, I don't count those numbers. 2. If I didn't sleep at least 8 hours, I don't count the numbers (it DOES make a difference). 3. If I'm close to or on my TOM, I don't even weigh. Even with all the things lined up right, I normally see up to a 2lb flunctuation.

LMBO! I weigh nearly everyday. I just recognize reasons behind flunctuations. I put in my lowest weight. If it flunctuates 2-3lbs after that..there is generally a reason. When I hit another number that is lower than my lowest..that's my new loss. How do I know when I'm gaining? When the flunctuating number becomes my lowest number for a few weeks. Then I need to scale back.
