Well. My body could not take it & I am now going through sugar dumping syndrome, where my body gets rid of the sugar FAST!!! (and furious ) But I guess I deserve it for being such a jerk & not making a better choice.
for lunch I have
an asian salad from McD's (no meat)
a cheese sandwich
We will see how the rest of the day goes. I know I cannot eat like I have been anymore, and will need this thread for inspiration from good vegetarian eaters like our Helen, as well as a place to be accountable to.
In answer to the question on the last thread, this is rocket. It has a variety of names, but rocket's the one I use
Today I've had :
Fruity porridge
2 apples
cherries and strawberries
cous cous and roast pepper salad
a bag of mini pretzels. I'm a bit annoyed about this, the vending machine just drew me towards it...
This evening I'm having lentil balls with a rocket, spinach and watercress salad (a couple of other veggies in there too).
I've been forgetting to post here! Hope you're feeling better today, SAPF.
I did okay with my food yesterday except for being low on veggies. Oh, and discovering I was out of brown rice. If I were smarter, I'd have had w-w couscous or pasta instead, but I had my heart set on rice, and the Basmati was calling me. White starches really give me a bloaty feeling these days, and I can still feel it this morning. Mind you, I did have it twice!
Mon 3 July:
500 ml coffee, 2 tblsp. half & half.
2 oz water-packed tuna, 3 Ryvitas.
Small portion of tofu coconut curry, 1 cup Basmati rice.
Another cup Basmati with 1 cup black beans, ¼ cup sweet corn, dressing (balsamic vinegar, chilli, garlic, 1 tsp. EV olive oil).
Apple.
Today's plan:
Breakfast drink (Banana, plain yogurt, protein powder, strawberries).
Cottage cheese on Ryvitas, salad.
Fruit shake (banana, skimmed milk, strawberries, tofu, vanilla extract)..
Today was as I posted with a 65cal ice lolly and a bagel with houmous and roast pepper.
Tomorrow will be:
500ml lucozade sport (8 mile run)
fruity porridge
2 apples
pomegranate
cous cous salad (the last portion, finally!)
nut roast with veg
evening snack (possibly a slice of toast, or houmous with red pepper)
Thanks, fishy! I am. What are ryvita's? Someone else here used to eat them too. Jillegal? Claire/artist? Someone!
You ate a whole pomegranate???!?!?! I am very jealous!
today:
1 serving grilled salmon
bread and butter pickles
raw green pepper
1 serving potato/onion mixture that was sprinkled with garam masala & grilled in a small pan
1-2 servings cooked green peas
1 serving salad w/craisins & spring onions
1/2 serving paul newman's caesar dressing
1/2 serving coleslaw made w/balsamic & splenda. no oil
1 serving strawberry whip
1 serving fresh watermelon
1 cream cheese swirl brownie
2 gallons water now.
I was at a picnic. My best friend & his boyfriend are moving to Portland, OR. His parents invited all of us for the meal. It was nice. Not sure I will eat again today.
dinner:
1 serving beef lo mein
1 can sierra mist free

I seem to recall it was our Jilly (who is missed here), SAPF. Ryvitas are whole-grain crispbreads, and they are mega-delicious. I'm still waiting impatiently for the Minis to hit my local supermarket.
The U.K. site is HERE.
And they're pretty low in sodium too, unless you slather them with Marmite like someone I know....
Ok Ali, you knew this was coming, what is Marmite? I agree, I miss Jilly too.
today
1 egg mc muffin, no ham
2 cups skim milk
1 mcdonald's asian salad, no meat very little dressing & NO almonds, they forgot them. Oh well!
1 small bag (33) pretzel braids
1 can tuna canned in olive oil
Marmite is a dark savoury vegetarian spread made from yeast extract, most often eaten spread thinly on toast. I like it with Laughing Cow triangles in a toasted sarnie. Excellent source of B vitamins. and though it tastes very salty, I'm sure it's not as high in sodium as one might think. (I can't be bothered to go and check right now.) It's been a staple in my diet forever--I used to be known as the Marmite Kid.
I didn't have the second fruit shake yesterday, but I did have a couple of portions of reduced-salt potato chips.
Today's plan is not much different from yesterday's plan:
Fruit shake (banana, skimmed milk, strawberries, tofu, vanilla extract).
Cottage cheese on Ryvitas, salad.
Fruit drink (Banana, plain yogurt, protein powder, strawberries).
Tofu in crushed tomatoes with herbs, w-w pasta, salad.
Alright, holiday's over, TOM is gone, time to get back to crackin' down! But first things first--while we're on a roll with getting unfamiliar terms defined...sarnie??
Today:
granola/almond cereal w/skimmilk and sliced banana
instant oatmeal
black bean soup w/ff sour cream
pumpkin pie filling stuff w/ff cool whip
salad (spinach, chicken, strawberries, almonds, and light ginger dressing)
No picture, sorry, but they're kind of like sugar snap peas or something like that.
Today was not too bad:
Lucozade sport
Fruity porridge
2 apples
pomegranate
cous cous salad
bag of soy crisps
some jelly beans
Nut loaf with courgette, mange tout, pepper, carrot, ginger, soy and chilli stir fry (that's a mouthful!)
Tomorrow:
Fruity porridge
A different cous cous and chickpea salad
2 apples
Dried fruit (apricots, prunes and dates)
The remains of the stir fry with some rice
Possibly some 70% chocolate
