GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Hi Everyone!
I'M BAAACCKKK!!!!!
Was I missed?? Did you all have a party without me this past week?
We had a WONDERFUL time on our trip! Starting out with your plane trip at the crack before down was a good time to go. We arrived in Vegas at 9:30am, so it left us with the whole day to gamble. I played VERY conservative, and only lost about $65-I find that as the years go by and the $$$$ isn't there, I don't quite care about playing (and losing) all that much. Eli played conservatively as well and won little amounts here and there, but ultimately lost some $$ has well-but nothing to cry over, which was good.
We ate twice at a buffet, not my choice-but Eli does well there:) We also ate at 2 Middle Eastern restaurants, one we knew about before, the other, which was WONDERFUL we discovered the following day-was able to stay OP throughtout all the eating out we did.
I was worried that I had gone off plan but found when I got home that I was okay-we found fresh figs, and I really went to town with them-even brought some home-they are like candy!!! I did eat way too many nuts, a problem when we travel as Eli loves his "TRAVEL FOOD", but again, they were SB LEGAL, just too much of a good thing.
Tuesday we headed out to Calif. We stopped at Outback for dinner before heading over to NANCE'S house as I was complaining I wanted some REAL FOOD! That was also my 17 month SB ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!
We were greeted by the family and Nance with her wonderfully infectious smile! Also, Nadia, her daughter, posted a really cute WELCOME sign. Faris gave up his room (and privacy) for us. Floyd "THE FARTING DOG" did NOT live up to his name!
NANCE is a wonderful woman! I hope you all have the chance to get to meet her one day. Words just can't describe what a wonderful person she is. She and DAN THE MAN definitely make a wonderful couple and you can see just how much in love the two of them are.
Yes, I got Nance out and walking! She could of easily told me to go to H*ll, but she got out there like a trooper! What a beautiful park she has to walk in-I'd give my eye-teeth for a place to walk around like that! Nadia even got out there with us and promised she'd try to get Nance out there 4 days a week (yes, she will be updating me with e-mails!).
Wednesday we went picking raspberries up in the mountain area-we definitely ate way more than we put in the baskets! Picked a few pears, but the raspberries was what I was more interested in! I was being a "DOOKIE HOUSER" and definitely needed the fiber! It was a nice day up there, nice and cool-nothing like the heat just a few miles away. A great way to spend our 8 year anniversary!!!!!
We kidnapped her children on Thursday and took them to a little town called Julian and then to San Diego, nothing exciting for them-but a day out with the Floridians. Figured, since our kids weren't around, we'd spoil someone else's. Didn't touch the apple pie Julian is so famous for having! We went to lunch at a place I like in SD called DZ AKINS, a deli style place with hundreds (and I really mean that) of items on the menu-very hard to choose what to order there, but ended up having grilled chicken with Jack cheese, avocado & mushrooms on seeded rye-yummy!
Dan the Man got lessons in coffee from Eli. I'm hoping the bags of coffee he got will keep him experimenting! I think he learned a thing or two about coffee, and Starbucks!:)
Friday we took it easy and went to the movie like Nance said-then back to the house to have a scrumptious dinner that involved many cooks. I was happily surprised when we drove up to the house to find LDBLOND'S car in the drive way!:D I was worried I wasn't going to get to meet Lara, but she came, and I really was happy to meet her as well-she looks wonderful-tall and thin-something I will never be! We sat and talked and ate and talked-it was really nice!
Saturday morning, it was time to leave-it was all too short, where does the time go to? I really would love to be able to spend more time with Nance-I wish we lived closer! Now, it's her turn to plan a trip to Miami in the future!!! I hoped and prayed we weren't pains in the butt while we were there. I thank Nance and Dan for putting up with me on my quickies (okay, for me, they are quickies) to Trader Joe's! I thank the whole family for allowing us to feel like a part of their family for a few days!
Saturday as we headed back to Vegas we were running on gas fumes, so Eli exited, though taking a wrong way, we ended up on a main road just the same. Anyhow, we were driving down the street and came upon a place called the INTERNATIONAL MARKET. Well, of course, I just HAD to have Eli stop and boy was I glad he did! This place is not only huge, but it had thousands of items I have never seen in my life-most I had no clue what they were! They had foods from all over the world! Middle Eastern, German, Italian, Latin, Asian (the biggest variety), Dutch, Phillipino, English and I don't know from where else. I had a field day-we spent two short ours in there, not long enough. I actually didn't do as much damage as I could of done, we just bought some baba ghanoush, a brand hard to get down here and a few things for the kids that were very unusual. I was able to find a bar of SB LEGAL CHOCOLATE to add to my ever growing stash, from El Rey, 70%+ (also bought another brand earlier in the week, 1 bar to add to the stash). This place was just so unreal!!! Def. worth going to if you like finding funky and unusual foods!!! ROSALIE-I even found canned SPOTTED DICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Afterwards, we hit the ME place for lunch-they had the BEST falafels I've ever had, so from going there before we left Vegas, I had my heart set on going there before our plane left. Afterwards, I dropped Eli off at one of the casinos and headed to Trader Joes (I lost count just how many times I went into one!). I bought a wide array of different cheeses along with 2 bags of the sweet potato fries and 2 boxes of the meatless chicken nuggets for Michael, as well as a bottle of their RF Greek Dressing, a loaf of sourdough and a couple other things-I had bought one of these insulated bags while I was with Nance, and had a gel pack that I froze in her freezer-everything came home nice and cold and survived the blistering heat of the car and the plane ride home-so I was happy!!!
So, now I am home, and I'm pooped! Of course, the first thing I did after hitting the potty for the umpteeth time (I am no longer a DOOKIE HOUSER, but more like a DOOKIE FACTORY!), I jumped on my old friend, THE SCALE yesterday and saw that I was 125.5-can't complain! Now, it's back to being OP 100% and getting back to normal. Woke up this morning to find 125:)
I hope you all don't mind if I don't address you all individually. I just don't have the time with school starting today, being it's also Michael's 15th bday and all the crap I have waiting for me to do in the house. It's a new week, so I'll be back to normal from here on out. I was able to glance at some of the posts from the past week and was glad to see everyone! I'm sure I've forgotten to tell you some things along the way, but my brain it's all together here at this point, so if I remember, I'll post more!
It's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY , so here's my contribution for MM:
Imagine yourself full of energy and enthusiasm, getting up each morning excited and positive about the day ahead. Imagine yourself being highly effective, able to achieve whatever you set out to do with confidence and ease.
In your mind's eye, see yourself working with discipline and focus, able to quickly and easily make the right decisions, always knowing what to say and do in every situation.
Imagine yourself being the person you've always wanted to be. Imagine living the life you've always dreamed of living. See it in detail. Visualize it with richness and intensity. Know you can have it. Know you can do it. Know you can be it, with absolute certainty.
Imagine yourself being the best you can possibly be. Make your image of yourself a positive one, and you'll program yourself for success. Imagine yourself at your very best. Hold that image firmly in your mind, day after day, moment by moment, and you'll absolutely find a way, and live the life, that will make it real.

FRUIT, glad to see you back!
BOB, got your 3 bottles of TJ'S TOMATO SPLASH!
LDBLOND, found that Vogel Bread you mentioned-bought it. Seems good for toast:)
NANCE, THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! I'll e-mail you later! Good luck today at work!!!!
QUILTER, I see John Edwards' show will be on regular TV starting this morning-I'll be glued to the set!!!!
Gotta get ready to head out soon. It's the first day of school down here-the new parents go nuts out there so I try to get there a little early. I'm planning on getting a walk in between taking both the kids.
I'll check in with the board later this morning. I hope you all have a wonderful week! I missed you all!!!!

HELLO! I'm Back!!
Let's hope that the ISN will not go down again, but since it was up this morning and I am getting in a post while I can.
I have missed y'all SOOO much!
DH and I have been to Georgia this past weekend for my grandmother's 90th surprise birthday party. It was a fun, but whirlwind weekend. We spent much of the weekend in the car traveling or running errands, but I dod manage to get in 30 minutes of Yoga and a nearly 8 mile run. I have been building up my long run (Sat) milage in prep for the marathon. It is just over 4 months away! I have been running 3-4 days a week
I have remained OP with the exception of eating a few bites of regular rice at the b-day party (It was at a beautiful Chinese restaurant). I was seeing a trend in that I was gaining, but last week I lost a pound. Now at 151.
Belinda Wannabe is without a computer right now, it is being repaired. She hopes to be back again soon.
This morning I am off to run a few miles, then to the Jr. League thrift store. They are getting an all new inventory (they do this 2 times a year) and it will be filled with fabulous bargains!
I haven't read all the posts, but will try to catch up on them later; hoping that I still have connectivity.
Happy Monday everyone!
Peace,
FROG

Happy Monday everyone!
We had a great 5 days camping with only one night of rain (2 inches, though) and fog and cloudiness one day. The campground was really nice. I hope Gator enjoys her visit to WI. Yesterday was gorgeous and the temps should be good while she is visiting.
Deb - sounds like you had a great time! Too bad the casinos weren't kinder to you to pay for all the stuff you found at Trader Joe's and the IM. Julian is a pretty cool town. We have a friend living in San Diego and she took us up there once at Thanksgiving. It is so neat to go from the ocean up the mountains in an hour's time. Glad that you're back. It's time for you to kick my butt in gear so I get back to losing, not maintaining! School started today, so I'll be back into my routine again.
I better get moving--I have JC Penney coming to give me an estimate on blinds for our new bay window. I love this new window! Now I will want to be sitting in this room a lot--we didn't use it much before as it is a more formal living room and we have a family room around the corner. Actually, I better start using it to justify the cost. Hopefully, the new siding will be started this week or next. Then the major projects will be done.
Here's a motivational thought my husband heard that I thought was very appropriate for us: Goals are dreams with deadlines.
Have a great Monday everyone!
BOB - don't forget to bring that wagon up this way!

Hi Girls
Drinking coffee, trying to get prepared for going back to work! UGH!
Went swimming this weekend, feel asleep on a raft and got totally BURNT. I am bright red!
Watched "Enemy at the Gates" (Dan's choice) which was all right for a dude movie.....but the biggest news is we got another
PUPPY!!! Couldn't help it, she was so cute and named her TRIXIE.
Floyd won't leave her alone for a minute! They are so funny together. We went to Petsmart, and low and behold they were having Save-a-Pet there.....well her brother had been adopted and she was put in a cage with three puppies that were realted and was sleeping in the back corner all by her lonesome. We couldn't resist. Once she was put in our arms it was a done deal!
She's part lab/part pit-bull terrier, black with white on the chest and paws. 2 1/2 months old and slept with Mommy and Daddy in bed last night.
Well, that's my report!
Deb-Glad to see you got home safely! Thanks for the nice card and letter:) I can't (Well, yes I can) believe you got into more shopping trouble! You'll be stocked for months! Dan is addicted
to making latte's and is having them morning, noon, and night.
Thanks again for all the treats you brought us, that was so nice!
Gotta get....Will talk with you gals later!

Good morning everyone
After a lousy weekend with very little sleep I feel energised this morning after a good night's sleep. Even felt like doing housework this morning but didn't have time to do much as I have to fix up my hair and then I want to go out to badminton before going to work this afternoon (we have to get our priorities in order ;) ). Housework will be done later, maybe tomorrow if I am still in the mood :D . I spent most of Sat. night in emerg. with my dd who had a severe migraine. Didn't get home until 3.30 a.m. and had to get up for work Sunday morning. Anyway I survived it and made up on sleep last night. I was in desperate need of a snack on the way home from the hospital and stopped at the donut shop for a hot chocolate and a donut. It sure tasted good. Have been back op since.
I got on the scale on the weekend and weighed 198 lbs - the same as last Wedensday. Will wait and see what this WIW brings.
Debbie - Welcome back. Yes you were missed, very much so. But it sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I'm glad you found the canned SPOTTED DICK - at least now you know that I wasn't making it up
Frog - It's good to see you back on line again and that you are keeping up with the running.
Sorry can't respond to you all now - have lots to do before heading out.
Should have more time tomorrow.
Bye for now.
Marie.

Putting first things first requires that we know who we
are, what we want, and how we plan to get there. It means
knowing our values, and living accordingly. It means
being an adult, and requires a level of self-discipline,
self-determination, and self-control. It means living the
way we really want to live, regardless of what's easy,
tempting or convenient at the moment.

This puts everything into perspective. Meeting Deb and Eli was wonderful and I hope that each and every one of you has this awesome experience. Deb's words have motivated me for months, but now the Queen of the 4.5 mile walk really has me thinking that no matter if I need it, daily exercise is just like my daily vitamin, it has to be taken. I started using my abslider again and will begin my walking this evening at 7pm while the kids are engrossed in Scooby Doo and my DH is doing his thing. That way I know that they are being cared for and I have a 1/2 hour of walking.
I'll email you all tonight or in the morning and let you know how it went.
Thanks Deb and Nancy for Friday night, it was fabulous. Narda, I almost felt like you were there too...

Hey Y'all!
Well, the kids are at school and I'm smiling to have the house all quiet and to myself today (Eli already left for work). Michael's school was really busy, Lauren's wasn't as bad. Looking for another year of perfect attendance!
Got in my 4.5 miles this morning with 17 jogs-feels good to be back into a somewhat "normal" routine. Happy I made it home though, stomach has been bothering me a bit and was squeezing my butt cheeks from about half-way home praying I'd make it okay:eek: I will tell you, I truly wished I was back walking at the park Nance lives near instead of smelling the car fumes and baking dog poop on the route I walk! BOB has seen my walking route and it's not a pretty site. I barely broke a sweat when Nance, Nadia and I walked/jogged, but 5 minutes out here in Miami and I'm sweating bullets. Guess that's the difference of 18% and 85% humidity!!!
My butt was glued to the TV this morning with the new John Edwards show that is now on regular TV-I love that stuff. I'll be finding myself glued to the tube at 10ams weekdays it seems-I tend to not watch tapes of past shows I've taped, so would rather watch it as it comes on.
I'm back to my usual journaling-another thing that makes me feel like I'm back to normal. I'm one who doesn't do well out of my normal routines-esp when it comes to eating. I think I drove Eli a little nuts on our trip, at least during our time in Vegas-we walked in and out of quite a few places until I deemed one that had some acceptable foods I could eat. One of the buffets we hit had a seafood night, so basically it was the crab legs and some other proteins that I had on my plate, trust me, nothing exciting!
Kids did well while I was gone, Grandma and their Dad split the time with them. Without my Mom, I'd truly never be able to go on the trips we've been able to go on-now she's on vacation with Dad-up to NC to see what they bought! Can't wait to hear all the news on their new "mountain house"-will definitely be headed there a few times a year!!!
FROG, though I haven't been around this past week, I'm glad to see that you're back on the board from having troubles with your computer. My goodness-8 miles?!? How in the world you do it, it just amazes me-the 1/10-1/5 of a mile I get in before I resort back to walking just kills me!!! Good going on the pound loss last week, it will continue to come down, just continue being patient:) Have fun at the Thrift Store, hope you find some goodies. Also, tell BELINDA that we miss her!!!
RHROO, thanks for the welcome back. Wow, 5 miles, that's a great walk!! I bet going with a friend makes it go by really fast.
KAREN, next time you go to visit your friend in SD, make sure you go for lunch at DZ AKINS off Murray Ave and I-8-it's really good! I've been to Julian probably 4 times I'd say, always nice to visit tiny towns like that-they are known for their apple pie there and true to form, Eli got a piece and shared it with Nance's kids while I enjoyed watching them devour it. Next time we go back I'll probably have a bite (gosh knows when that will be though). I'm sure you'll be losing soon-what's going on with you? Are you on a plateau???
NANCE, owie-sunburn? Dan should of flipped you over like a pancake! Another dog? You all are too much! Cute name you picked. I can just imagine Floyd around her-and the cats who probably want nothing to do with her once they've sized her up. You'll have to take pictures and post/send them. You definitely have a house full, for sure!!! Glad you found my little card-tried to put it in an obvious spot for you to find. You are so welcome for all the little things we brought, I'm glad you all liked them-and again, we appreciated everything you did for us:D BTW, did Nadia wake you up to walk today????????????????? So Dan's really going to town with the coffee making-does he have it down pat now????
ROSALIE, you sound like me-so much to do in the house but no desire to do it, would rather do "other" things-like post on the board! LOL!! Where your ears burning Saturday? They should of been as I was telling Eli the story about you and the SPOTTED DICK when we found the can. They had lots of other weird canned desserts as well-none that I bought though. I could just see my coming home and showing that can to the kids and tell them I was going to serve it to them-NOT! I did get them some unusual Cadbury chocolate covered wafer type cookies, as well as some other sweets from the UK. That's great you are down to 198, and I hope WIW blesses you by going lower. Hope you had a good badminton game today!!!
LDBLOND, again, I appreciated that you came to Nance's house to meet us! I don't know if I lived up to any expectations, but I hope that some of what I say to others makes some type of positive impact. I'm thrilled to see you are going to incorporate the walking into your daily routine-it sounds perfect how you've planned it, knowing Juan is home and the kids are being cared for while you not only get in a walk that is going to help you maintain your wonderful new figure, but also is going to give you some "ME TIME" alone-you're going to love how it's going to make you feel in more ways than one! Can't wait to hear how you feel at the end of the day!!! Thanks for sharing that MM thought as well.
Well gals, I guess I better get in the shower and start to get ready-have a few errands to run before I go to get Michael from school. Don't have to cook dinner tonight since the kids will go out to dinner for his bday with their father, and if Eli gets home early enough, we'll all go together instead of doing it seperately. I guess I can bare to be around the ex for a little while to celebrate Michael's birthday!
Please remember, TOMORROW IS CHAT NIGHT AT 9:15PM EST I plan on being there and I hope you all will too-all but BOB who is glued to the BB show at that time (BTW, what's going on with the show BOB?). I'll post the link to the board tomorrow.
Have a glorious day!!!

Welcome back Debbie, we sure did miss you. So glad to hear that you had a great time. Sounds like that international market was extra fun!
Frog, so glad to see you posting again. Wow, you're doing great with the running. How far will you be going in the race at Disney?Tell Belinda Wannabe that we miss her too. Glad to hear that she's away because of computer problems rather than leaving us, know what I mean???
Nancy, ouch to the sun burn. Sounds major! Don't you hate to get back to work after such a wonderful time off? If vacations could be extended, huh?
Rosalie, sorry to hear of your bummer week end. Hope your dd is feeling better & that you have a better week.
BOB!!! get contol of your self! shake shake shake!!! Now, are you ok??? Consider yourself having had a virtual shaking. You need to hitch up your wagon & make it down here to LA & I'll make you a pot og cajun coffee & okra & chicken gumbo with brown rice. That will make you feel better. The okra is fresh from the garden. DH keeps cutting it & bringing it in every day. I think he planted enough for the whole town! LOL
Karen3000, Glad to see you back too. We did miss you also. Hey, that new bay window sounds fabulous.
Rhoo, you're walking 5 miles???? WooHoo to you girl!! I got out & walked today too. DH got home & the temperature had dropped & I had had a rough day at work so I asked him to walk with me. I had not walked in a long time. We did 1.2 miles. A drop in the bucket compared to the 4 miles I was doing before, but it's a start!
SolShine, go pump that iron girl. Say, how did your pizza party go?? Hope you were able to stick to your zuchinni pizza. I'm planning to make it again this week. Thurman can't wait. He's been begging me to make it again. :D
SEF, our day with Momma went well. She really enjoyed the afternoon, as we all did. We took a picture with my ds's digital camera & I'm hoping to be able to post it as soon as my sis sends it to me. We laughed & cut up all afternoon & remenist (sp?) as we went through her bedroom. Remembered gifts that we had given her. Some things she remembered, but others she did not. We are far from being finished, but will go back this week & pack some more.
ANN, Hope you & dh had a good time at the races. Did he win?
'FLY Hi, are you back to driving that bus yet?
Well I have a return appointment with my Neurologist in am & then off to visit with my baby girl & have lunch with dh. Will check in tomorrow evening. Those of you Mom's whose kids are back in school this week, enjoy!!! :D

Oh What A Beautiful Morning, Oh What A Beautiful Day, I Have A Wonderful Feeling, I Met A New Low Today!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, just call me corny-but when I stepped on the scale this morning and saw 124 I just felt like singing out!! WOO HOO!!!! What a way to start the day!!!!
Okay, back down to earth...went out for dinner to celebrate Michael's bday last night, to Outback-had my salmon as usual, and it was delicious! Took my salad dressing with me this time, a new one I brought back from TJ's which is delicious, low fat Greek dressing. I asked for the salad with no shredded cheese and no dressing, but instead, fresh blue cheese-first time I ever requested it like this, why I never thought about it before, I don't know-it was great! Also, for those of you who like their Prime Rib-I didn't know you could request a lean cut of that-so that's something new I learned (Lauren likes it), she did get it a new way last night, seasoned and seared-another thing new we learned (from Eli's daughter who works there).
Day 2 of school-all went well yesterday and kids are both happy with their schedules-thank goodness!!!
Today is TUESDAY TIPS and this tip is a great one if you like MAGAZINES! I have ordered a bunch of magazines from this site twice with no problems, and just wait til you see the prices!!! I recently ordered ROSIE, WOMANS DAY & FIRST and renewed some of the others I had ordered in the past, like HEALTH and FITNESS among others. I got PREVENTION, VEGGIE LIFE and others as well from them - check out the site!!!
http://www.bestdealmagazines.com
Please remember, CHAT IS AT 9:15PM EST TONIGHT! Anyone plan on being in the chat room????
SOL, thanks for the welcome back-glad to see you out at the gym!!!
BOB, stop your sniveling!;) You know you're #1 on Eli's Coffee Buddy List!!! Dan can be #2. No one saw BB on Saturday here, so we have no idea what's happening. I expect for you to keep me posted!!!! I know you and QUILTER will have a good time together next week-of course, I wish I could go too!!!!
MELF, oh yes, we had a great time-and thanks for the welcome back! Take me grocery shopping at any unusual/health food store, and I'm a happy camper!!!! I'm quite easy to please in this way:)
Time for me to get ready to take Michael to school and then get in my walk-praying this weight stays down for tomorrow's WIW!!! I'll check in with you all later today!
Have a great day!!!

MARIE - CONGRATULATIONS ON KEEPING DOWN!! We've both broken the 200 lb. barrier and are at 198 together. Feels good, don't it?!? I'm actually at 198.5 today, but TOM is this week. I mentioned it last night and Vince said, "No wonder I'm craving chocolate so bad!" Silly man! He thinks he PMS's with me!
MELF - I'm jealous about all that fresh okra! The pizza party was great! I wanted to be inconspicuous with my own pizza, but everyone noticed the "stuff" piled up on my plate since it didn't come out in slices this time. Now everyone knows I'm on SB. Oh well, so much for not drawing attention to myself. The hostess tried it and loved it! She wants the recipe. Vince even skipped his second piece of regular pizza for a piece of mine and then finished off the rest of it on the way home. :dizzy: He can afford to eat like that with all the work-outs he does. He won't gain an ounce.
DEBBIE AND NANCEMEISTER Sounds like y'all had a great time! I could go for a beautiful place to walk where there isn't 100% humidity. I MUST visit a place where they have a TJ's sometime! Although, I must say we have a Whole Foods that has some great stuff here. We found 70% and 77% chocolate there this week-end. We bought a huge bar (almost a lb. I think) for $5. Vince is dying to make that mousse recipe in the back of the SB book since he's having such major chocolate cravings. We also bought a FEARN Carrot Cake mix and will make it with the agave.
DEBBIE I have a question about yogurt. My protein powder doesn't mix with my cottage cheese and without thinking I had switched to nonfat plain yogurt - last night I actually looked at the label and it has 16g of sugar per serving! It doesn't have any added sugar, but some starch listed in the ingredients. That's bad, right? I told Vince he'd be finishing off the yogurt until I find out if it's okay since it's mostly milk sugars. I've been mixing it with oregano and garlic to make a kind of tztziki sauce for a Greek chicken dish, too.
BOB Have a great vacation!!
Saturday we slept in - until 10:30am!! Haven't done that in a LONG TIME[I]!! Went taversing around shopping and then went to the wedding of one of Vince's co-workers. It was a very unique wedding. She wore a traditional wedding dress, her bridesmaids wore Pettycoat Junction type dresses with banana curls in their hair. The men wore western-style tuxes, cowboy boots and bolos for ties. The reception was at a civic center with kegs of beer, bbq, bales of hay everywhere and country music. People wore everything from dresses to blue jeans and shorts to the wedding and the reception - which is what the bride wanted. It was a lot fun. I ate mostly from the cheese platter and the veggie platter. We had eaten before we went, so it was easy to stay on plan.
Sunday I started looking at job opportunities and preparing my resume. I [i] HATE doing that! I really hope the sales reps come through with some major sales, but don't want to bury my head in the ground and get caught unprepared.
Well, off to work. Have a great day, everyone!!

Tuesday Tip: I've used this one before, but it has come in handy this week, so I thought I'd repeat it.
When you are tempted to eat something that is not on program--have something legal first. Chances are it will satisfy you and you will forget about the other --bad--thing you were craving.
It's been a long week without you! I'm happy to report that Dad came through the procedure just fine--in fact went back to work today. I appreciate all your good thoughts and prayers!
In the meantime it is simply gorgeous here in southeastern NC. I've had three delightful days on the beach--not too hot, water temperature perfect--not too rough--and NO SHARKS! It's been years since I've seen weather this perfect. Best of all there don't seem to be any tropical storms lurking out in the Atlantic. I just might make it out of here unscathed!
I'm also happy to report a new low--237! I'm also fighting TOM (AGAIN!--it's only been 2 weeks since the last TOM) so I'm feeling pretty good.
Today I'm heading up the road to see my brother and his family. I'll be back on Thursday. If I can log on up there I will.
I'm glad Deb and back and had such a wonderful trip! It sounds like it was lots of fun meeting Nace and Lara. I did read throughlast week's posts to hear Nance's anguised please for mercy from the walking monster!
I'm glad Frog is back with us. Also that my role models are holding below 200--hang on girls I'm coming!
I spent some time at Barnes and Noble yesterday reading the Sugarbusters for Kids book. In some ways I think it explains the whole eating concept better than the original. It would be good for both adults and kids. I was tempted to buy a copy for myniece who eats nothing but bread. But there is not an ounce of fat on her body and she is already (at 9) self conscious about her weight (she is the tiniest little thing). So I don't want to do anything that would tip that delicate balance right now. I worry about anorexia with her.
I hope Wednesday is kind to everyone! I won't be near a scale until I get back on Thursday.

Fillise: Congratulations on your new low. I'm glad to hear that your father's procedure was so successful. Have a fun trip!
Solshine: Sounds like you are doing well with SB, a 10 lb loss is great! I got a kick out of the pizza story, I know my family always thinks I'm a bit different when I scrape the topping off down to the crust and stuff in my ww pita.
Deb: What a delightful way to start a new day! I'd be singing too! Congratulations! It looks like this means you've met your 5 lb. goal...right?
School starts here on the 4th of Sept. So my kids are still in day care type situations. I'm excited for them, summer can get awfully boring after awhile. As for the walk, it didn't happen. Our best friends came over and we spent our evening at Outback celebrating Mark's birthday. No I wasn't well behaved and woke up this morning with a friendly reminder from my stomach of why I started SB in the first place. To improve my health....

Posting from work so I'll have to F-A-S-T!
Hope all are doing great. Home computer ISP was not working last night :( This is making me a NUT CASE! Those darn Virus people! They spoil my fun.
Regarding the marathon - It is Sunday, Jan 6, 2002 at 6:00 a.m. It'll take ma about 5 hours or so. I'll know how long after a few more months of training. The distance is a standard marathon, 26.2 miles of pure HE double hockey-sticks, but I am looking forward to it.
Will also be watching Big Bro 2 tonight, but will try to chat if I can.
Glad to be able to read the posts that I could. Wish I could respond to all, but breaking a major rule by posting at work!
Congrats DEB! That's awesome!!!! :D :D :D :D

Wow - where does time go?
I guess I got past the blues over my lunch on Friday. It didn't hurt me on the scale, so I got over it.
Yes, the 32 oz of water on the drive home did a number on my bladder.... I almost tore the door down getting into the house! I usually drink that much before leaving and on my way to work, but when I do it on the way home, it hits me pretty hard. I guess its because in the morning the time is spaced out a little more than if I do it in the evening.
We had a good weekend. I contributed and shopped at some kids consignment sales and have another one coming up to contribute to this week. Anyone else do this type of thing? Here is AL this has gotten very popular. The one I have coming up this week is the BIG one in my home town. Its alot of fun to see what kind of bargains you can get and how much money you can make!:spin:
My 4 year old got a battery operated Harley Sunday for his b-day. He LOVES IT  !!! I can't believe my baby is already 4!!
My dh sold his truck yesterday and is buying my Dad's from my mother. I have had mixed emotions about this for a couple of weeks, but kept it to myself. Mom was selling the truck anyway, but I was kinda hoping that I wouldn't have to look at it much longer - now it will be in my garage every day. Oh well, my dh seems very happy about it. It is a 2001 Dodge EXT cab, 4dr, leather, all power - the works - with only 4,000 miles. Dad just bought it last October. He would have never done it if he had known....
I'm gonna work out hard tonight! I want the scale down to at least 147 for WIW tomorrow!

Hey Friends! Happy, happy Tuesday!
Just have a few moments to check in. We've got company coming over this evening, so I need to clean the bathroom and pick up dog hair. Ugh, story of my life. Went to bed kind of early last night because I was feeling kind of icky. So I'm now behind on the posts. Will try and read later tonight. Hope everyone is having a GREAT week.
WELCOME BACK DEB!!!!! We sure did miss ya!

Evening All!
House is quiet, Lauren is babysitting, Michael is working out at a friends and Eli is still at work-what better way to kill some time than to get on the board and post (ask Eli and he'll say CLEAN!).
Forgot to tell you another good find I found in Calif.-another FEARN product totally SB LEGAL-a BRAN MUFFIN MIX made with SGWW flour-haven't made it yet, but may do so tomorrow if I get inspired-just have to add 1 egg, 2tbls oil, 1 1/2c milk and 1/4 c agave-how bad could I screw that up?!?
Realized after I posted my new low that I had also hit another milestone-70lbs gone!!!! :spin:
SOL, which chocolate did you find with 77%-probably have it already, but just in case it's not in my stash, I want to keep and eye out for it! LOL! I think I must have well over 30 bars now! Thanks goodness chocolate is no longer an issue with me! Let me know about the Carrot Cake-I didn't buy that one due to the carrots not being SB legal, but then thought, just how much carrots could there actually be in there! So I'll look to you for your review of this flavor! We have Whole Foods here as well and like the store a lot! As for the yogurt, as long as there's no added sugars, that's naturally occuring sugars you see-what type of starch is listed? I would tell you to look at Publix for Axelrod brand, or the one I like the most is HORIZON ORGANIC FF PLAIN YOGURT, Whole Foods will have it. There's lots of great things you can do with the yogurt-make the yogurt cheese and flavor it, you'll love it! I make yogurt balls sometimes-with ww pita, tomato and a little olive oil-it's delicious-can do the same with yogurt cheese, just the balls are fancier.
FILLISE, CONGRATS on the new low-that's wonderful! Glad to hear your Dad is doing well, I'm sure that's a big relief. Thanks for the Tuesday Tip!!!
LDBLOND, yes, I met my low point of my cushion goal. Would like to stay down below 125 now that I'm here-I don't think I look so bad at this weight-any input? I see we both were at Outback last night!!!
FROG, Sunday is a great day for the marathon-do you know your itinerary yet-if I get up there I'd love to be able to spend some "quality time" with you and the others. I KNOW that BOB will go, and of course, I expect to meet SOLSHINE as well while we're there!!! We can see you off and then meet you at the finish line!
TV, good luck for WIW tomorrow-seems you are doing well. BUT, don't beat yourself up if the numbers that you want don't materialize:) Honestly, I do believe that your Father wants the truck to stay in the family. I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason-though we don't understand the reasoning for them at times.
QUILTER, thanks again for the welcome home:) I am LOVING John Edwards show!!! Glued to the TV and crying like a baby sometimes!!!
Okay gals, another reminder CHAT TONIGHT AT 9:15PM EST I know it's a big night for BB, so I don't know how many, if any will show, but I'll come on and see as long as the kids aren't needing the computer for any homework-you know that HAS to come first!

Hi all - Got my exercise this week end. Our son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters love to go to archery shoots and this week end asked us to join them. We just walk along and I keep score for them. Now let me tell you - I got my walk in and my total exercise.... Those trails are steep, winding, and then downhill - one to one and a half miles each. I walked four of them. The only thing that hurt bad were my feet. I was really proud of the shape I've gotten myself in. I joked to my son that there was no reason to kill me off - I don't have any money to leave him. He said actually, he was thinking about calling my cardiologist and telling him what a great job he did - I couldn't have done this 4 years ago. It was a great time and to top it off our 6 year old granddaughter placed 2nd in her division.
Kim - Yes, we are fortunate to have a garden and all those great vegetables. I'm with you, I love zuchinni and I cook with it almost every day this time of year. Also we have both Roma and grape tomatoes - love em....
Solshine - Yes, it was me who wanted the weight site. Thanks.
Marie and Mary - Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss. I am determined that if its a pound a week I'm sticking with this and will be happy with that loss.
Sef - Thanks for the words of encouragement - I need them too. I'm with you, humor is the best medicine and way to enjoy life.

Well, Ralynn, BOB, & SEF & I did have a good chat. Missed the rest of you gals.
Ralynn, just post us a hello & a progress note whenever you can, That would be great. I know with little ones at your feet it's hard to get some quiet time, but they do grow up entirely too fast, so enjoy it while you have the chance.
BOB, yea, I fix okra that way too, just a quick stir fry, but we also like it boiled, smothered with onions & bell peppers, & also in a gumbo. If it's cooked, we like it... Glad the virtual shaking did you some good :D
SEF, hope your dr's visit goes well in am. We'll talk more later about meeting in BR when this hot weather cools down a bit. Maybe Fruitloupe can join us too.
Debbie, I tried your Blueberry Buckle but didn't have bleuberries, so I used strawberries & it was wonderful!!! Congratulations on your new record...70 lbs, wow! That's wonderful!
Fellis, congrats to you too on your new low!!! So glad to hear that your dad's procedure went well.
SolShine, smart of you to keep your eyes & ears open for opportunities & also for updating your resume...just hope & pray that you won't need to use it.
LinMae, that outing sounds like it was a perfect opportunity to visit & spend quality time with dd & dgd, placing 2nd in her division? how wonderful!! Way to go. Sounds like you have a nice garden too. We sure enjoy our garden. Don't know what we'd do without it. I hate waxed cucumbers, but we eat them fresh out the garden here along with the okra & squash& whatever else dh decides to plant. :D
TV, sounds like it will take you some getting use to...to seeing the truck in the garage, but you know, one day you might realize that it's not so bad & appreciate seeing it there after all. Even though some memories are hard at first, after a while, you're actually happy for those memories. The pain won't always be as bad as it is right now. Trust me, you'll see what I mean a few months down the road. I have had lots of experience in this department over the years. I have lost a sister, a dad, & a husband, not to mention so many other close family like grandparents, etc.
Well, it's late & time for bed. Have an early day tomorrow. Dentist appt to fit for a TMJ splint, then off to Mom's house to finish up some packing & inventory list with Mom & sis. Had a good visit with my baby girl today. I don't get to see her often, but she looks happy, so I guess that's what's important. Later gals...

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone!
Don't have much time, so will get in my "regular post" a little later this morning.
Just wanted to remind you all that TODAY IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!
If you would like to post your weigh in results for this week on our WEEKLY WEIGH IN BOARD just click on the link below:
DEBBIE – CONGRATS ON YOUR ALL TIME LOW!!! AND 70 LBS. !!! I don’t remember the name of the chocolate, but will certainly look and let you know. We tried the mousse in the back of the SB book last night and, well, we must have done something wrong…..it didn’t taste all that great. The yogurt is actually the plain, non-fat Publix brand. I don’t think there’s any added sugars, but will check the ingredients and let you know about that too. I feel stupid for not even looking at the label when I first started eating it. That’s really not like me at all. Meister is off today so he may bake the cake since carrot cake is one of his favorites and he’s dying to see how the agave nectar works in recipes. I’m afraid his chocolate cravings weren’t relieved since the mousse flopped. Thankfully he doesn’t ‘indulge’ in front of me.
FILLISE – WAY TO GO!!! HAPPY DANCE!!!! That’s awesome!
I don’t have much time this morning, but wanted to check in. WIW shows me up 1 lb. to 199, but it is TOM so I’m hoping that’s all it is and it will be back down. I didn’t sleep a wink last night and I’m already dragging a$$ so I hope to be able to keep my head up today and can’t wait to get home, but probably won’t be tired again at bedtime. Does that ever happen to anyone else?
Anwyay………have a GREAT DAY!

Morning Again Everyone!
Well, I didn't get in my walk today and I'm feeling guilty-I'm sitting here, all dressed up and ready to go as I did earlier. I had intended to take the day off anyhow, (Eli was suppose to be off today and has to workanother reason I was taking the day off), and it was enforced when we had some bad rains this morning, but by the time I got back from taking Michael to school, rains were gone. Lauren asked me to make her breakfast, so that put in another reason not to go at the time, and then before I turned around, I was cleaning in the kitchen. Now, the sun is out, it's more humid than this morning and I'm just feeling like I really missed out on something this morning - pathetic, aren't I? For sure, tomorrow (watch it rain with my luck!).
FINALLY, I can post a WIW loss. Last time I was able to post a loss on WIW was August 1st-I've been lower, but not on WIW-but I was able to stay at 124 today, which gives me a 1lb loss. Somehow it doesn't sound like much, esp. in 4 weeks time-but I guess now that I've reached goal, losses aren't what I'm focusing on, maintaining is.
Speaking of 124, now that I'm here I feel like THIS should be my goal and possibly I should try for another 5lb cushion. BOB, NANCE & LDBLOND, you've seen me recently, what do you all think??? I don't think I look bad, or too thin-surely I can tell you if they cut off all the hanging flab I have, I'd easily have another 5lbs off of me-but that isn't going to happen, at least not in the near future. Not that I am going to change anything in my WOE-will continue just as I am and have been-will be interesting to see what my body will settle for in the way of weight. As long as I stay under my initial goal, I really should be happy. Come this weekend, TOM is coming, you'll surely hear me singing the blues!!!!
Sorry I wasn't at chat last night-had all intentions. Michael had homework, and not even he could get on the computer. We have been having more trouble with it than I care to tell you about. Usually, it takes us numerous tries before we can actually get a full log on-it's such a pain. Glad to see a few of you did make it on though!
BOB, so who do you think will get the ax on BB Thursday? I swear, if it's not WILL, I'm afraid he may just win, him or Monica-they both have played the game differently, but good. Will be interesting! Did you hear about what Nicole did and that BB warned her to watch herself? Honestly, I don't know how in the heck Will can come back to Miami and think he can be a regular Dr.! Not one patient in their right minds should trust a man like that-maybe he'll have to go to be a doctor for individuals that have lost their minds!! Yep, we did get the 70% chocolate in Orlando. I was pist, I saw some other bars at TJ's and thought I had them, didn't, could of added them to my stash. Oh well, next time!:) How's the hummus factory going?
MELF, thanks for letting me know you liked the Blueberry Buckle recipe. I have some blueberries starting to rot, should try to make it today-but then I know I will be eating more than I should-I have no willpower when it comes to SB LEGAL baked goods! Good luck at the dentist today!
NANCE, where are you in the mornings? Maybe out walking??? I miss our I/M's! CONGRATS on getting the scale to go back down again! Remember, small goals! Don't look at the big picture in this case, just the next 5lbs-it's in easy reach!! I KNOW you can do it!!! For the hummus, ust the juice of half a medium lemon is needed, approx. a 2 tablespoons of juice I'd say-I'm sure you'll get it down pat. I'm sure BOB has perfected it as she's gone along. I forgot to ask you your opinion-with the pic I showed you in regards to how I want my hair-should I do that? What about trying to blow dry it straight sometimes??? Honest opinions, please!;)
SOL, make sure when Vince makes the cake that you turn down the oven 25 degrees lower than what the box calls for and watch it from the shortest time frame it gives-I baked mine the entire suggested time, but you know all ovens are different. Can't wait to hear how it tastes! Sorry to hear the mousse didn't come out well-I tried making some carob kisses (like meringues) and it didn't come out at all, so Mom and I threw it into a cake pan and baked it-delicious! Like a chocolate torte, thin and chocolatey!!! Sometime, mistakes aren't always bad:) I went through my chocolate stash and found an old wrapper (yes, I do keep them) from HACHEZ, called COCOA D' ARRIBA which is 77% Cocoa-is this the one you found?
RHROO, I'm sure you'll get back down there again-with all the exercise you've been doing-just try your best to stay OP and you'll be fine.
Well gals, I have to go, John Edwards is coming on-can't miss it!!!!
Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share, please, try to post them tomorrow!

Hi everyone
Well the scale wasn't very kind to me this morning. I am up one pound from last week at 199 lbs. So I am not a happy camper to-day. I was doing very well with my menus, keeping the starchy carbs at a minimum except for a day or two when I was feeling a little nauseated and felt the need for eating more carbs. Mainly legal stuff but I guess it did me in for this week. Heres hoping for better results next week. I also haven't been exercising much this past week as I was fighting a head cold. I am hoping to get more active in this coming week.
Thinking of you all but I gotta run. Have chores to do this morning before heading out to the hairdressers. May try and get a bike ride in before I go.
Bye for now.
Marie.

MARIE I hope I didn't jinx you by gaining a lb. myself! We'll just have to try to post 198 again or 197 together next week!
DEBBIE I called Vince and he said the brand was Scarffenberger and it was 70%. I thought we got the 77%, but he said we didn't 'cause it cost $11/pound. Next time we go to Whole Foods I'll look for the name. I found a Dannon non fat plain yogurt and it's just cultured grade a nonfat milk and pectin. opefully the Publix brand is the same. Thanks for telling me about the oven temp. I'm going to call Vince and tell him in case he makes it.
He's borrowing a pressure washer today to clean our sidewalks and driveway. I'm tickled. It'll be a new house to come home to. Also, found a friend who has a sewing machine I can borrow to fix my curtains. I found out 3 different people had given or thrown away sewing machines in the past month. I shoulda said something! I would love to have one. drat!
Okay, lunch is over so I've got to run......Hey to everyone else!

I was back up to 148 this morning instead of 147.5 - dadgumit!
I just don't understand how that happens sometimes. TOM was last week and I hit that low then - oh well, thats life! I'm not discouraged (a little disappointed though :( ), because I love this WOE. I know it will come. Do ya'll think cutting the starchy carbs out completely for a few days will get the scale to moving??
I have to go in the morning for that thyroid bloodwork again. I am a little concerned that it may still be out of whack because my hair seems to be coming out by the handfuls  . Don't get me wrong - I have lots of hair (tooo much) and can afford to lose some, but it has been more than double the usual shedding I have. I'll be anxious to see what it shows this time.
Deb - congrats on the loss - 124 is really close to perfect, I think you might start looking too thin if you go much farther. I remember in my skinny days that people always accused me of being too thin if I were anywhere under 120. Of course, I enjoyed being a toothpick then and it came all too easy. Too bad I don't have that problem anymore!! Thanks too for the nice comments about Dad's truck. I'm sure he probably would rather us have it than a stranger. It will just take time to change over to referring to it as Jeff's truck, instead of PaPaw's truck.
Rosalie - We'll just be un-happy campers together today. Then tomorrow we will have to re-group and work hard for next WIW.
Nance - great loss, congrats!
Rhroo - I have been slack on the exercise too. I guess we would both do well to re-focus on it before next WIW. We can do it!
Solshine - during TOM, I'm always draggy too. Seems those hormones make me have bad dreams and not sleep well too. I'm sure the scale will move in the right direction once you are past this week!
Melf - you are so sweet. It is always good to get encouragement from someone who knows what you are going through. I'm sure time will make things easier, right now is just difficult. It seems that I relate everything these days back to the loss. I think maybe because just enough time has passed now that the "missing him" part is at a all time peak. So many thing I wish I could talk to him about.... I keep reminding myself that he is in a much better place and doesn't have to be sick anymore.
Gotta run - hello to everyone else  !

Hey All!
Thought I'd get in a post before Eli comes home.
Oh my gosh, I finally made my BLUEBERRY BUCKLE recipe-it's too good! Thanks for letting me know you liked it MELF, got me to use up the berries I had and taste this wonderful recipe. Bad thing is, I've already had 2 big helpings-thank goodness it's all SB LEGAL, though not in the amounts (7oz) that I'd like to push down my throat. I'm hoping Eli will eat some, and I have a plate going to my neighbor, who provided the egg to make it. Gals, you MUST try this one!!!!
Just did something for the first time this morning, took 1tbl of the Philly 1/3 less fat cream cheese, 1 tlb homemade peanut butter (that I had in the fridge) and mixed it together-threw in the fridge-it's like pb fudge-you could try it, maybe put a tiny bit of sweetener to sweeten it up if you want, or spread it on some bread for a sweet treat. Maybe roll it into small balls and roll in some carob powder? Pretty darned good! I just tasted it, didn't really HAVE some.
Before picking up Michael I went to one of the biggest Publix's we have down here, which happens to have a large HF area-guy told me they are sort of "test marketing" this part of the store, and have expanded it recently. Anyhow, as LAMAP said she found the Fearn Cake Mix in her Publix, low and behold, they too had it, only the banana and carob flavors though-$2.19 a box, not bad at all. What REALLY suprised me, THEY HAD AGAVE NECTAR!!!! It's higher than what I pay, $2.99 a bottle, but for someone who doesn't go to Broward like I do, it's good-just to know they carry it was a big surprise. Funny thing was, the guy who heads the dept doesn't even know what people use it for-so of course, I had to explain how wonderful it is.
Did anyone get the book I recommended-SLOW BUT SURE? Just curious. Got another book today that looks interesting at the used book store-will let you know what I think about it when I get into it a bit.
ROSALIE, don't worry about the pound, I'm sure it's due to something besides your eating-and think of it as NOT going back to the 200 mark! There's so many reasons our bodies can go up and down, it can drive one batty as ****! Just know, it will go down, further and further! It's funny, I have a friend on WW who's lost 71lbs in 5 months, and here I am, 70lbs in 17 months-we're about the same height too-so why does she lose so much faster-who knows?!? Just know you are doing your body, and mind, good by eating healthier-the weight will come off with patience, which to me, you have a load of!!!!
SOL, that's the same brand of chocolate that I bought last week-it is really good! I think the other chocolate you may be talking about is EL REY-let me know if I'm right. Again, look at Publix for the Axelrod LF Yogurt, I really like that one if I can't get the Horizon Brand at the HFS. Awaiting your review on the cake if Vince makes it!!!!
TV, right before my TOM I drop then rise than within a 2 weeks time, drop again. You may want to keep track, just so you know how your body fluctuates. In the past, I would get soooo discouraged when I was on a diet and I would gain when I was being OP 100%, then I'd screw up cause I got pissed off and end up gaining it all back, PLUS. Not until I started SB and started keeping track of my progress on the Weight Commander Program did I realize that these fluctuations are completely normal and with being patient and staying OP, the scale will go back down. I can gain anywhere up to 5lbs during certain times of the month-so don't worry, like I told ROSALIE, patience will pay off. If you are only eating 2-3 starchy carbs, I would say not to change that-again, be patient:) I think the only ones who think I look too thin is my immediate family-and that's just because they aren't use to seeing me thin period-so anything close to normal looks too thin to them-BOB, NANCE & LDBLOND could probably say I look "normal":) Remember, there's no harm in saying it's your Father's truck, keeps him in thought;)
Well, that's about it for me, for now at least. I'll check in with you all later this evening if I can get some time on the computer. Now, with school back in session and homework to be done, I'm fighting for computer time again. If not tonight, tomorrow for sure!

Is it Wednesday already? I completely spaced out the chat until after it was all over with--maybe next week.
Deb - you asked "what's up with me" - well, nothing really. I'm OP one meal and off the next. However, the number on the scale always stays right about the same. At least I am not gaining! I've got to get my heart and soul into this 'cause I know it works. Maybe it's strictly the laziness in me right now, but something has to change--soon! I picked up a copy of The Good Carb Cookbook. Do you have that? If so, how would you rate it? I've had it about 2 weeks and I have only glanced at it. There's a lot of info on the GI of foods. Looks pretty interesting---maybe reading this will get me going again!
Sorry not to respond to everyone--I've been terrible in that area the last couple of months. :( I hope it slows down around here soon!!

How did it happen? I'm so far behind on the posts. I know I was busy but this is ridiculous!! Monday I went to nh as usual. Tuesday I went to church and did my librarian thing. Today I
went to eye doctor for check up. Had to have another lens change. That's three right lenses in a year! He said there would be less change now as the further you get froma procedure
the less change you have. Doesn't want to see me for a year. SAid the other eye will be good for one to three years. I said I would until I was blind before I had another eye operation!! Choir practice tonight plus other things during day made it a full day and I'm ready to relax!
I really enjoyed the chat last night and to think I almost missed it. We missed those of you who weren't there!
Will try to put in my two cents on some of the posts.
DEB: Did I welcome you back? Sounds like you had a great vacation, should be shopped out........NOT! Did you get home and think you should have bought something you debated
about and decided not to? That's what I usually do!! We all missed you! Wonderful feeling for a great loss!
Frog: Such dedication! Get your run in no matter what! I admire that!
Rhroo: When we fall by the wayside it is hard to get back OP. But you will do it and you did get your run in!
Karen: I would not consider five days of camping as great. Did a lot of it when I was a GS and then a GS Leader. Now I want room service! Glad you had a good time in spite of the rain.
Nance: You poor girl! Sunburn is dangerous I hope it is getting better. Another puppy? Bless you. I miss my dog, I had her 15 years. But we still have three cats and their Beagle. Enough already! Trouble with puppies and kittens, they grow up to be dogs and cats!
Rosalie: Hope your dd is better. I used to suffer from migraines but seem to have out grown them the last couple of years. My dil really has them bad and is going to a specialized clinic at LSU hoping for relief. That donut and hot chocolate are comfort foods that your little demon inside you thought you deserved for all the stress. But if you're right back OP then you didn't let him get the total best of you!
Ldblond: I like your thought from Humbert. I had to wait all these years to begin to understand that and try to live by it.
Bob: There, there don't cry! No one could truly replace you. You just have to share a little! I must be missing something! I could never get into soaps and now I don't see the fuss about the reality type shows. I watched and couldn't get hooked. BAck to my mysteries! Here you are saying it's because you're getting old that you left the chat last night. I thought you just were bored with us! I don't know what's wrong with you youngsters
just can't seem to keep up w/ us old gals!!
Melf: It was so good chatting w/ everyone on the Board last night. We seem to be the ones who hang out the longest! I would love to meet when things cool down a bit. Glad things went well with the packing and reminiscing, she needs that for closure. It takes a while to pack a lifetime!
Fruitie: We are extending thwe invitation to you. How about meeting us some time in Baton Rouge area off I-10?
Sol: I lnow about sympathy sickness when you are pregnant, but tell your dh that PMSing is going a little too far! Sounds like a very relaxed type of wedding! Isn't it easy to stay OP when we set our mind. I find there is usually something I can eat.
Fillise: Glad your DAd did so well! Back to work! CAn't keep a good man down! Congrats on new low! How low can you go?!?
TV: I find I do much better w/ weight loss if I remember to keep drinking (not the hard stuff darn it). I also feel better when I keep the water pumping though me!
Quilter: Hope you are feeling better.
LinMae: I know all these sport things are dor the kids, but parents and grandparents get a lot out of them too. My dd was on swim team and our lives seemed to revolve around that. At
times it was a pain but I wouldn't have changed it. At least you got exercise being with them. I used to be a timer and hang over the edge of pools went for the touch. Now it's all electronic.
Know I missed some of you. I'll try to do better next time. I exalt with all of you who lost, and offer hope to those who didn't. I went down 1/2#. Not worth mentioning!!
TAke care. See you on the Board.

Good Thursday Morning Everyone!
Don't have a whole lot of time to post, but will get in what I can. I have to go stuff envelopes for a mailing for Michael's school at 9:30am and I'm taking the time to cool down from my usual 4.5 miles and type at the same time.
I can't tell you how hot it is out there, already 82 degrees and muggy/humid. I really didn't even want to get out of bed this morning, much less walk. Couldn't believe that I even got my jogging in, but of course, now that I'm home, I'm glad I got it all in.
CONFESSION TIME! Like I mentioned last night in my post, I made the BLUEBERRY BUCKLErecipe, and thought it was wonderful-so wonderful that I easily ate 3/4 of the pan! I just couldn't help myself-it was to die for! I enjoyed each and every bite from every serving, well, except the last 2 bites, I sorta forced those down, waste not want not! I will definitely make it again, but not unless there are others around to eat it-maybe for a special occasion-I'm too dangerous around SB LEGAL baked goods-I'll never learn.
Of course, the scale is up 1.5lbs today, but I doubt it's from what all I ate last night, TOM is 3-4 days away, so I'm contributing this to it.
KAREN, I'm sure things will "kick" back into normal. I always say, if you can get through 3 days, you'll get right back into the swing of things. I don't think I've seen that book, but then again, I may just have it-I have too many books to know what I have, seen so many at the stores, etc. etc-will look for it next time I'm out and let you know what I think of it. If I buy more books, I think Eli is going to shoot me-this is a woman buying cookbooks that doesn't cook! Really, I buy them so I can share the recipes with the board;)
BOB, don't know if you are gone or not, but I truly wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS ON THAT WONDERFUL LOSS!!!!! WOO HOOOOO!!!! I hope you are able to stay OP while you are away, at least to a point. Please have a safe trip and try to check in with us somewhere along the way. We'll miss you!
SEF, the only thing I missed not buying was the Valrona chocolate at Trader Joes, thought I had that one in my stash. Eli is kicking himself, he didn't buy a few things at the Internation Market that he should of-I told him to get them, but you know how men don't listen-but otherwise, I bought what I could within reason of bringing it back. I do wish I would of bought some more of some of the things I did buy, like cheese from TJ's! Next time, I guess:) Hey, a 1/2lb is wonderful-shout it from the roof tops-a loss is a loss, no matter how big or small it is!! CONGRATS!!!
Today is recipe day-I'll get 1 or 2 on sometime later. Now, I have to run, I'm going to be late-have to get in the shower!!!

aaaarrrgggg! just posted and lost it. Very frustrating.
Sorry I missed WIW, here are my stats for today
190/173/135. 2lbs from last week, which leads me to asking this question. How can you tell if it is fat loss or muscle loss or can you?
BOB - congrats on the weight loss. Looks like time in the dungeon helped. Keep up the good work!!!!!
Good thoughts being sent to ldblond. Hope everything turns out okay.
Its been raining here since Tuesday. I hate being stuck in this house cause it leads to house-cleaning which I hate. But it needs to be done. I need to go grocery shopping but it will have to wait til the rain drops stop falling on my head.
I will be posting a recipe I saw on a religious tv station the other day. Actually she had quite a few goods ones. I wish I could remember the Tofu mousse recipe. It looked good.
Hope everyone else is fairing well.
Will try and check in later

Hey Girls...
Just another quickie to say hi...:)
School has started yet I am completely discombobulated, still....my Mom is in for a 2 week visit to celebrate her 80th birhtday :D and so there is no "routine" for me yet....
BUT I am HAPPY to say :smug: that I have managed to maintain between 132 and 134...I stay OP for most of the day, and here and there sneak a cheat - a serving of orzo, a mini-chocolate bar.....but the framework of SB is still there and at some point I am going to kick myself in the butt - really, less than 5 lbs to goal, I should be able to do it!
I have to say, tho , it is great maintaining for now.
I've been lurking when I can -
Deb and Nance, glad you gals had a good time together.....sure wish someone would come to New England already, Rhroo and I are getting lonely!
BOB - congrats on the 4 lbs, great work! :D
Quilter - are you back? Did you get my emails or did they disappear into cyberspace again?
I've been getting back into Ebay again - let me tell you, if you have any Discovery Toys you're done with, put them up. They go like hotcakes. Unfortunately, the 1,000 comic books I bought at a thrift shop have not been moving the way I had hoped, but it's mostly my fault - I need to research which issues are valuable and then spotlight those. So more stuff for me not to have time to do. :^: But it IS really fun having people bid on your stuff....like an ongoing tag sale with a lot less work and snoopy people on y our driveway!
Gotta run - Hugs to all of you!

BOB--Congratulations, girl! You're on your way. Have a great trip. Both SBing and traveling.
Debelli--The book sounds interesting. Tell us more about it. We have a new publix here in our area but I never thought to check to see if they carried those items. I usually pick up hormone free milk and eggs there, but have not looked carefully for anything else. Will have to do so.
Karen--How was the camping. I thought about you when we were in Kohler. I liked Door county better. It was cute and quaint, but it rained half of the time we were there. We went to a lovely park on the Door peninsula, on Green Bay, and it was a fabulous place for camping, I think. Lots of bike trails and good views. We stayed in Sturgeon Bay and thought it a precious town. Sorry we couldn't get together.
To a secret friend--you know who you are--Thanks for the info re. Koehler. You were right; the American Club was very swanky. And to top it off, since it was partly business, the inviting party paid for our room for 2 nights. Our dinner was taken care of those 2 nights also. So the expenses were not too bad.
Gals, I had my first facial and pedicure. There was a spa in Koehler, where we stayed in Wisconson. Since my husband was off playing golf all day, what could I do!!! I highly recommend it if you have some extra bucks lying around, or need desperately to relieve stress.
We are leaving again tomorrow for another trip, this time a real vacation to Penn. We'll stop off in Gainesville and watch the Gators play this Saturday night. I've been trying to be faithful in my eating, but have been slipping here and there. It is hard to stay 100% legal on vacation, I have to say. Especially for breakfasts when eating out. I think we will have some kitchen facilities where we are staying, so maybe that problem will be resolved. So y'all take care while I'm gone, and eat well--SB legal, of course.!

Happy Thursday Y'all!
I have been in a bit of a slump and DEAR DEB has been there for me all along. I have been feeling so disconnected without the ISP working; the last 3 weeks. I have also been having trouble with staying awake past the evening (6:00) news. Top that off with the yo-yo part of this weight loss that I am on and I am one basket-case! :o Deb and I have been emailing about what has caused my plateau/gain/lose cycle. Not getting the right percentages of carbs, fat and protein and eating too many calories combined with my metablolism being slowed due to meds may be the culprit. Would not have arrived at that conclusion without DEB. I really can't thank her enough!!!!
I am going out here in a little while to join our local gym. Hoping to build some metabolism-building muscle! It will also help with the marathon prep.
I have been attempting to read and catch up on everyone. But there is so much, that I feel overwhelmed. So let me some it up as this:
To All the Newbies - WELCOME!! We are glad to have you!
To All of You Who Lost this Week - CONGRATS!! Some of you have really seen some great losses!
To All of You Who Continue to Hang in There (Like me) - GLAD TO SEE YOU HANGING IN THERE TOO!! :D
To DEB - YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!!
I am going to the beach this weekend with 3 other women my age and 2 younger (post-college) age women. We are headed to Myrtle Beach, SC area. Somewhere I've never been before. Looking forward to shopping and sunning FUN! We are leaving rather early in the a.m., so I'm not likely to post, but I hope that all of you have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend. I'll be home Sunday and will check back in then!
Thanks for being there, even when I wasn't!
Peace,

Hi all - Been quite a day here. Work has been awful. Don't know if anyone works for a Village and Board members, but it can be very stressful and today was one of them.. :( Then tonight my granddaughter calls me and their house was struck by lightning. No fire, but lots of wire smoldering. She is 10 and she told me it was so scary... I did laugh though. She told me when her dad and mom told her to go to the neighbors that she ran and got her pooh, bear, and blankie (blanket)... She said she just couldn't leave them behind...:) So, I am definitely ready for a good nights sleep.
Gonna start a weight program next Tuesday. Won't dare to start big, but it'll be a beginning.
Sef - I know what you mean about being involved in our kids sports. Our son was a basketball player and we lived for the games. Didn't miss one in the seven years he played. Loved every minute of it.

Hi all!!! I am still here. I have to get back into the routinenof regular posting. It is a crutch for me to lean on, helps me to stay OP!! Also I enjoy reading about everyone's adventures and ups/down and how you all cope. I try to contibute as much as I can. So I feel a little worthwhile being I hope cheerful and helpful as you all are!!
I went to nh this morning. Had a very good responsive group for current events. I read Dear Abby and Ann Landers too, had them give an opinion before I read the reply. You should have heard the discussion generated by a woman who was going w/ a man 30yrs her junior!
Then when I got home I had some breakfast/lunch and slept most of afternoon. It is one of my bad days. Now I feel somehwat better and probably will not want to sleep tonight!!
Will try to do some posts!
DEB: Thanx for words of encouragement on that 1/2# thing. You told me what I would have told others. BUt it is easier to be encouraging to others than it is to yourself as I'm sure you find now and then.
NANCE: If you read above you will see that I am trying to reform and be a regular poster again.
LDBLOND: I hope all is well with your surgwery. My prayers are with you.
CATLOVER: PArt of my problem is the rain we have been having. My aches and pains often follow the rains. BUt eventually the sun comes out the barometer goes up and all is well with the world again!
VIV: How neat to have your Mom with you for a milestone birthday, Do you hear me singing for her? Well....maybe you're better off if you can't!!
GATOR: Hope you have a great vacation. Where in PA are you going? I get homesick for PA and my old home town friends.
FROG: Hope you have a good vacation too. I have friends that aodre Myrtle Beach. WAtch out for that sun we already have a couple of fokls that are burning!
LINMAE: The hardest part about kids sports is having a place they can proudly display their awards! We had a special shelp made for dd wall. It was not elaborate but she thought it was a great Christmas present.
Hope all is well, I'm going to read a while. That's a favortie pastime.
Take care all.
See you on the Board!!

Evening All!
Got a little time on the computer before I hit the hay.
Met Eli for lunch at the ME place today, had a falafel, it was yummy. The lady who works there gave us CACTUS PEARS, I had never had them before, very seedy but yummy, reminded me of crisp honeydew.
For some reason, I'm pooped this evening. Sorta felt like that all day today, after walking/jogging. Maybe due to TOM coming soon? Hmmm. Had to take a nap before BB came on tonight!
NANCE, thanks for the opinion on the hair. I may try to do the base job myself. I have a coupon for one product I've been wanting to try, the REVLON HIGH DIMENSIONS, I've read it's good in a few places-it's the highlights I can't do myself-geez, I wish we had more time together last week-I'd of let you do my hair-I love yours! I can actually keep my hair curly and blow dry it straight when it's still short. I can't believe that LDBLOND had more trouble with her mouth. Please give her my best and let us know when you hear something new on how she's doing!!!!!
MELF, I made Lauren the skirt steak, and it came out great, I didn't screw it up!!!!!!!:spin:
CAT, CONGRATS on the 2lb loss, that's wonderful! Good question you posted-not quite sure about that-will see if I can find an answer to it. Though, my idea would be as long as you were eating enough and keeping your nutritional info in tact, you'd lose fat, not muscle.
VIV, glad to see you checking in a holding your own. I wish I could get back into Ebay, I desperately need the money. I guess I really need to break down and buy a camera already and just do it-stuff is no good just sitting here!
GATOR, if your Publix has a HF area, it may just have the goods there-never know until you look. The book is about a woman who lost 170lbs, I'm still reading it, but would highly recommend others to read it was well-so far, it's good! What she says can really hit home and I think we all can relate to what she's written. Another trip-you sure must be earning those frequent flier miles!!!
FROG, geez, you make me blush:^:! I just hope what we come up with will help-I'm just glad we seem to be getting some much needed answers, or at least I hope. You know you can contact me at any time for my input. Enjoy your weekend!!!!!!!!
LINMAE, what kind of weight program are you going to incorporate?
SEF, oh yes, I know what you mean, I can dish it out, but hard to follow my own words;) But really, any loss on the scale is a TRUE accomplishment-I feel maintaining is one too. We can't always have good weeks on the scale, but we can surely have good weeks with our eating. We can't control what the scales say, but surely, we can control what goes in our mouths. I have to keep in mind that what the scale says can be attributed to so many things-it amazes me how the numbers can get me into a good mood, or bad mood-a love/hate relationship is what I have with my metal monster!!!
Gals, I'm hitting the hay. Sorry I didn't get on a recipe today, will do better for tomorrow when I have more time.
Nite nite!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!! :D
I'm here...my Niece and her husband have the nicest house! They live out in the country (so to speak) in a really nice subdivision.
I just got the upstairs tour, and there are more closests here then I have ever seen in my life! I've got the whole upstairs to myself and lucky for me....the computer is up here!
We went out to dinner tonight...DEB'S favorite place...OUTBACK!!! Had a tenderloin, salad, baked sweet potato.
Could only eat half of the salad, and half of the steak...probably about half of the potatoe too...NO BREAD....YUMMY....
Tomorrow I meet up with QUILTER about 1pm for lunch. I'll report in later in the day about that..
NANCY My plan with the nutritionist is basically what DEB fixed for me...I chose to do this for the structure...I can't stay in the dungeon forever! :^: PORTION CONTROL...is the key...
That's my biggest problem....along with loving bread!
DEB You can bet the farm on my having a good time..My niece and I LOVE TO SHOP....I taught her everything she knows!
Hopefully, we can find some good sales tomorrow when Kim is here. Tell ELI my first stop in Charlotte was STARBUCK...got my usual ICED AMERICANO and had to get an extra shot...so..four total! Still wasn't as good as what I got at his store! I had to buy a bag of coffee for my stay here (forgot to pack some from home)
I'll look for some goodies that we can't get in FLA...I know I'll be in KROGER while I'm here. Want to pick up some beer cheese and some benedictine (which is made from cucumbers)..I'll have to pull your trick and get one of those bags to carry the cold stuff in back home...
OK ALL YOU SEC GALS....SATURDAY IS THE FIRST GAME.....GO VOLS!!!....
I'll be listening for some cheering....MISSY...GATOR..SUSAN..
Who else....I know we've got a PENN STATE person somewhere..
I'm all REVVVVVVVVVVVVED UP and ready to go...Won't be at the game, but I will be RIGHT UP ON THE TV!
FROG I CANNOT BELIEVE you have never been to MYRTLE BEACH!!! Have a good time...can't wait to hear if you liked it...GOOD SEAFOOD DOWN THERE....Sorry that WACAMAW is closed...
I'M HEARTBROKEN ABOUT BUNKEY!!! WILL HAS GOT TO GO!!!! I'M ANXIOUS TO SEE WHO WINS H.O.H.
I'm off to bed...I'll check in tomorrow after I leave Kim...

Hi guys its me Jenny I hope you remember me .
I just found my last post and it was back in April just before my birthday.
Thankyou for thinking of me and the birthday wishes many of you posted. Debbie i see the candles are still burning on my cake :)
Things went very bad here over easter the day before my birthday and life has been off track and dieting went out the window and I am heavier than ever now.I am ready to get back on track and I see many of you have achieved wonderful results in my abensce so please help me now to do the same.
On good Friday our 16 yr old daughter tried to kill herself. She slashed her wrists very badly and was hospitised and had plastic surgery to repair them. She did 3 cuts on each wrist. She had gone to stay at a girlfriends and unknowen to us the parents had gone away and other kids came around ..they all got in to alchol and Lisa drove off in some boys car and crashed it. So she thought rather than deal with it she would rather die. It was and still is a terrible shock .Our other daughter drowned and Lisa is so precious i cant believe she would take her life so casually. She doesnt seem to care and is not sorry about it. I am having such trouble with her and her schooling and everything has taken a dive. She refuses to go to councilling anymore (she went 6 times and wouldnt talk) so I really am at my wits end. She has a 19 yr old boyfriend and he has her rapt round his little finger. She is totally obsessed with him. Anyway i could go on and on and on about it all but I feel like Im damned if I do and damned if I dont with her!!! Every day something seems to make me feel like running away lately so Im going to try to start focusing on myself for a change and doing something positive.
So here I am and I have always eaten when I am stressed or upset, turn to carbs in a big way I have. I feel yuck and unfit as I have totally given up my walking and bike riding etc. I have nearly been living on refined carbs and eat much of the day. So I have myself rather in the pits but I really need and want to get going again.Eating is not helping solve anything and is not making anything better.
Tomorrow is the 1st of September here so Im going to start afresh as of then. Did you guys just go cold turkey when you started as Im afraid of getting my hidious headaches and nausea from the drop in blood sugar which I can get for up to 3 days or if I just make sure I eat plenty of 'browns' will i be ok??
See you again soon :)
Jenny at 177lb :(

Good Friday Morning Everyone!
I'm surprised I'm standing! I didn't fall asleep until about 3:30am last night. Was very hard for me to wake up this morning-surely didn't feel like walking, but surprised myself by getting in my 4.5 miles. A bit slower than I'd like, no jogs, but at least I got out there.
BOB, thanks for checking in and letting us know you made it there safely. Sounds like you had a yummy dinner-and no bread? I'm so proud of you!!! What the heck is benedictine??? Have a great time shopping. Have a great time with QUILTER today-give her a hug from me!!!!!! Let us know the skinny on your day!
RHROO, ahhh, the joy of getting the kids back to school-luckily, my kids are all done with that stuff now:) Sounds like you're doing well so far this week:)
BEE, welcome back! I'm so sorry to hear what has taken place within your family. I can totally understand the stress of what you've been through and how staying OP would take a back seat. I pray for you and your daughter that things will get straightened out. I hope somehow you can all get back into counseling-it can only help. Is there not anything you can do about this 19yr old boyfriend? The story of what happened to your daughter brought back a memory from my past-took my car (which was like a huge boat) to school, which I wasn't suppose to do (I lived only 4 blocks away, 5 minutes walking distance). I parked and when I went to leave, I hit the car next to me, denting it severely. That nite, I took a bunch of qualudes (gosh, I don't even remember where I'd of gotten something like that-the worst thing I was into was pot), anyhow, I remember taking them and hallucinating at the moon-I couldn't face the reality of my Mother and her getting the call that I had hit this other girls car and her knowing I went against what she had said. Of course, it's nothing like what your daughter has gone through, but I could relate in a sense. She may not understand it all now, but she will as she matures, or so you hope. I really do wish you all the best {{{HUGS}}} Of course, we'll be happy to help you get back on track!!!! Do your best on trying to get back OP. I would say do it 100% from day one and keep some Tylenol around should you get some detox headaches, they WILL pass. As for the guidelines, hmmm, not sure what you mean by those-like the ratio of fats, proteins & carbs? Let us know and we'll get whatever info you need posted!!! Again, we're glad you are back!!!!:)
Well, it's FRIDAY FACTS and I found some interesting information when I was researching something that someone had asked a question about. I thoughtpart of it was worth sharing:
There have been human studies on adding fiber to foods that produce a high glycemic index to see if the fiber will slow the absorption of glucose and therefore lower the glycemic index. Some work, others don't.
For fiber to work this way, it has to form a gel-like colloidal state in the small intestine.
For water-soluble fiber, there are two main properties, water-holding ability and viscosity. If the fiber increases viscosity, it can slow glucose absorption.
The fiber in carrots is a fiber that has good water holding ability but no viscosity. That's why carrots have such a high glycemic index. The fiber in beans has some water holding ability but it produces good viscosity, that's part of the reason why beans have such a low glycemic index.
I do not list carrots as a high glycemic index food to be avoided. I have used glycemic index plus carbohydrate content per 100 grams of the food to refine my advice on what are good foods and what are bad foods as far as glycemic index is concerned.
Both white (baking) potatoes and sweet potatoes (yams) have large amounts of starch with nearly identical properties (mostly amylose) along with decent amounts of water-soluble fiber. But the glycemic index for these two foods is very different. Using glucose as the standard, white potatoes have a glycemic index of 70 while sweet potatoes have a glycemic index of 51. The difference is that white potatoes have no fiber that can form a viscous gel-like state in the small intestine while sweet potatoes do.
Mixing beans with rice in a meal will lower the glycemic index of the rice (but the combined glycemic index of the bean/rice combination is still going to be higher than the beans alone).
Well, I've got to get in the shower, I haven't done a blessed thing here besides my walking and a few dishes and it's almost Noon!
I'll be back later, you can bet your dollar on it!
Toodles

It is 10:30 am CST Fri morn & noone has posted on the board this morning. What is going on???
BEE125, Great to see you back on the board, but sooo sorry to hear about all the problems that you are facing with your DD. My prayers are with you. You are right to turn your focus on your needs right now as you can not MAKE her think or do as you wish. If only we could, but God has given us all a will of our own & it seems as though she is expressing hers loud & clear. If you go to pieces, then you cannot be there for her when she will come to her senses, so get yourself together. We are here for you. OK, I'll get off my soapbox now ;). Sorry I can't help you find the eating guidelines that you asked about, but I'm sure Debbie will answer that when she comes on & reads your posts. I found this wonderful article in a Natural Health magazine this month & will try to get it posted about quitting sugars. It gives some really good advice.
BOB, Glad to see that you made your trip ok & that you have found the puter. Hope your visit with Kim goes well. Say hi from all of us.
Well ladies, I really wanted to answer to other posts, but I'm off to Mom's again today to try to finish up with the sorting & packing. My brother is moving in 2 weeks & I only have 2 more days that I can devote to getting this dones, as we will be going out of town next week end & I'm hoping to finish before then.
Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but my weight has been at a stand still. I'm afraid that I have not been 100% on plan this past week. Seem to be having some cravings & will have to be stronger in my resistence to them.

HELLO!!!!!! WHERE IS EVERYBUDDY???????
BOB - So glad you made it! Let us know about your shopping adventures and lunch with QUILTER! I'm SOOOOOO VERY JEALOUS!! Of course, I'm looking forward to meeting you and DEBBIE and FROG and anyone else who wants to come for her marathon! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
BEE Welcome back! I hope things settle down at your house.
DEBBIE - No cake when I got home. :( I'll probably make it this week-end. Vince asked a question I don't know the answer to.....Can we use Nestle Unsweet Cocoa (it's 100% cocoa, right?) instead of these $5/lb. bars of gourmet chocolate? Are we buying these bars more for just eating/enjoying good tasting chocolate or is there another reason? He pressure washed the driveway and sidewalks, though. It looks so nice!
MELF - I hope you're feeling better and your jaw is healing up nicely! Enjoy your week-end!
RHOO, FROG, MARIE, FILLISE, AR, FLY, NANCEMEISTER, LDBLOND, QUILTER, VIV, SEF, SPARKLE, GATOR, EVERYONE.........HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END!
I'm taking my MOUS Access certification exam this week-end. 'Twill look good on the resume, ya know. Forgot my gym clothes today so I'll probably go walking when I get home and then do weights tomorrow. I plan to finish my resume and get a few ready to go out this week-end AND hopefully get some major work done on my cross-stitch. I'm really looking forward to NEXT week-end. Vince and I'll be celbrating our 5th anniversary by going to New Smyrna Beach and staying oceanfront! I can't wait!
Gotta run....but here are a few fitness/weightlifting links I've learned of recently:

TGIF - I thought it would never get here!!
I have the "don't wanna do anything" disease today! I can't even get up the energy to make a shopping list. All I can think of that sounds good is a nap!! Its a rainy, gloomy day in N. Alabama today, maybe that is part of my problem.
You know, I think this has been the best week I have ever had OP. I haven't cheated the least little bit! My mom even sent homeade chocolate chip cookies to my house for the boys and I have been able to keep my hands off - wow - I'm finally getting better at this! I haven't exercised but one time this week though... but I have been working every spare moment on getting ready for upcoming consignment sales, so I haven't been sitting still either!
GOOD NEWS - My health food store ordered AGAVE for me last week and they just called and said it is in!! I'm gonna stop in and pick it up this afternoon! :D
I'm gonna get the lead out this weekend and get my house in order! The garage needs cleaning out too. No fun for us, just maybe some swimming if the weather permits!!
Bee - Wow, that is a lot to deal with. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was torturing my mother as a troublesome teen, so I can relate to both her and you (being a mother of 2 now). Did your trouble start around the same time she started seeing the 19 year old? I remember how I used to be so gullable when it came to the "boy" department and I even dated some guys just to spite my mom. Thank goodness I came to my senses eventually. I'm sure you instilled enough goodness in her that it will surely surface again soon. Sound like you all could benefit from the counceling, but it won't do her any good unless she wants to get better. Hopefully, if you can just be patient, she will come around before too long. I definately remember how tragic life could be as a teenage girl (I wouldn't relive it for anything - yikes!), but with any luck she'll soon see the light. Congrats on rededicating to this WOE.
TO EVERYONE ELSE - Have a great holiday!!
Oh, I almost forgot -- :s: WAAAAAARRRRRR EEAAGGLLEEE!!! Go Auburn!
War eagle, fly down the field
Ever to conquer, never to yield
War eagle, fearless and true
Fight on the orange and blue
Go Go Go
On to victory
Strike up the band
Give em H***, give em h***
Stand up and yell - Hey
War eagle, win for Auburn

This is an article that I read in Natural Health Magazine & found it very interesting & very close to what we follow in Sugar Busters! It will be posted in 2 separate posts. I hope it will be helpful to some who are fighting with some of these aspects of this WOE.
WHAT HAPPENS PHYSICALLY
*CRAVINGS (This withdrawal symptom will last several weeks.) Cravings strike most quitters when levels of beta-endorphin, a feel-good brain chemical, are low, especially during the PMS & menopause & in men whose parents are alcoholics. Sugar boosts your production of this substance; until your body starts making normal amounts of it again, you will crave sugar.
*FATIQUE (Lasts several weeks.) Sugar acts as a double-edged sword. Eating it can cause your energy levels to rise, but then it will fall almost as quickly. It will take you time to adjust to not having this ready source of vim.
WHAT HAPPENS PSYCHOLOGICALLY
*DEPRESSION (Lasts several weeks.) Besides satisfying a craving, those sugar-heightened beta-endorphin levels also create a temporary sense of well-being. The reverse is true if you suddenly take away the sweet fix.
*EMOTIONAL EMPTINESS (Can last indefinitely if it's not addressed.) Often people turn to sugar laddened treats to nuture themselves emotionally. Without sweets, there's less to distract you from loneliness or feelings of unfulfillment.
WHAT HAPPENS SOCIALLY
*PERVASIVENESS OF SUGAR Sugar goes by many names, includingfructose, corn syrup, and dextrose, so it is difficult to avoid. Restaurants often add sugars to foods you would expect to be sugar-free, like savory Chinese and Thai dishes.
*SUGAR'S CELEBRATORY TRADITION Most people mark social occasions, like birthdays, holidays, and weddings, with sugar. At events like these, it can be difficult to say no to sweets.

START BY TAPERING YOUR INTAKE
Before you begin eating less sugar, alter your diet so that you are eating a fist-size serving of protein at every meal, says Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D., a nutritionist based in Albuquerque, N.M., and author of The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program (Ballantine Books, 2000). Protein will help counter your cravings, she says. Typical meals she recommends include eggs and toast, tuna fish and salad, or a bean and cheese burrito.
Then begin cutting out foods made with white flour (which also spikes blood sugar levels); replace them with whole grains, brown rice and seeds. When you feel comfortable with this routine, start banishing sugary items like candy and cookies until you're eating 5 teaspoons (22g) of refined sugar or less a day. To stick with the program, start reading every label, and buy a nutritional counter for unmarked foods.
BOLSTER YOUR BODY
One trick to dealing with CRAVINGS is to find healthier ways to increase beta-endorphin levels. Exercise is a way to do this.
If FATIGUE is your main complaint, eat more fruit. While it is rich in natural sugars, giving you an energy jolt, it won't raise your blood sugar levels as much as refined sugars, says Paul Saunders, N.D., a naturopath and professor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. And increase your daily fiber intake to at least 25 g, which will slow down your body's breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose, or blood sugar, he explains. Experts also recommend the mineral chromium (200 to 400 mcg, three times a day). Chromium increases the ability of insulin, a hormone that regulates bllod sugar.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, both CRAVINGS & FATIGUE caused by wildly fluctuating blood sugar levels are due to an energy deficency in certain organs, saysNan Lu, O.M.D., L.Ac., director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation in New York City. Deficiencies in the stomach and spleen are at the root of these cravings, says Lu, who suggests eating foods that restore balance in those areas of your body, like almonds, ginger, papaya, pears, and sweet potatoes.
HELP YOUR MIND TO COPE
To counter feelings of DEPRESSION, take vitamin B complex (50 mg, once in the morning and once at noon), recommends naturopath Saunders. B vitamins help make tryptophan, a precursor to the mood-regulating brain chemical sertonin.
Exercise boosts levels of seritonin, and so can indirect sunlight, as long as it passes through your eyes unfiltered, says David Olarsch, N.D., a naturopath in Plymouth, N.H. He recommends getting an hour of moderate exercise a day, outdoors if possible, and wearing a wide-brimmed hat to shield your eyes instead of sunglasses. (also wear sunscreen).
To counter EMOTIONAL EMPTINESS, Rowe suggests volunteering to create a sense of community & seeking professional counseling to learn to accept yourself
SURVIVE SOCIAL SITUATIONS
Deal with the PERVASIVENESS OF SUGAR by reading ingredient labels, says DesMaisons. "Sugar-free" on labels means sucrose-free, but not necessarily fructose-or glucose-free (these are also sugars). Beware of foods labeled "low-fat," which often make up for lack of flavor with sugar. In Chinese restaurants, avoid"sweet and sour" dishes and duck sauce.
To weather SUGAR'S CELEBRATORY TRADITION, plan ahead. If you're going to a party, bring a fruit salad or some other low-sugar dessert. Or call ahead at a restaurant, find out what it's low-sugar options are, and plan to order one of thoise dishes or an alternative treat, like a cheese plate.

Well its a rainy wet Saturday morning here and I haven't long been out of bed. I was reading the "sugar blues: article I printed out last night and it was really interesting.
So this morning I have had a protein shake for breakfast.
Now I was sure that somewhere in the past I has read the dietary guidelines for doing SB.I think the balance was supposed to be like the zone with the 30-40-40 balance but do you guys count the grams or just estimate.I don't really want to have to get to write everything down as that gets very weary. Was bit 3 meals a day ?or snacks encouraged? and I'm sure its protein at every meal?
I do remember only SGWF and NO sugar but do I remember that we need to check the labels as to how many grams of sugar ? was it no more than 2grams sugar per ?? or am I getting :?:
I have the Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D., book "Potatoes not Prozac" and was doing that for quite a while last year but I didn't like the idea of eating a potatoes every night before bed. MELF 'The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program' is her latest book. She doesn't like the emphasis on weight loss at all and I found that a little frustrating too.(well that was the case in the PNP one anyway. Thanks for all the info I sure can relate to the >>*EMOTIONAL EMPTINESS (Can last indefinitely if it's not addressed.) Often people turn to sugar laddened treats to nuture themselves emotionally. Without sweets, there's less to distract you from loneliness or feelings of unfulfillment. << that is me to a T but you can add to the loneliness and unfulfillment,... frustration ,stress, hurt, anger, boredom and feeling unloved and unappreciated.
TVthatsME (is that what we call you?) nice to meet you :) Congrats on being OP all week and well done not eating any of those chocolate cookies. I will just have to keep my favourites out of the house for a wee while till I get in to the hang of it again.
Yes Lisa's trouble did start around the time she meet Shaun but also she had just turned 16 and thought that gives her the right to do whatever she darn well wants. I cant see what on earth she sees in him which may indeed be part of the attraction. He doesn't drink which is great cos she has a real problem with alcohol and once she starts she wont stop till she is out of it. Its so hard to discipline her as she just says "I'll leave" or "what do you think you can do about it". She's not our oldest. Our 17 (soon to be 18) year old son is nothing like this at all.He is much more mature and easy going. Yes it is a pity she wont have the counselling but at her age it is her choice :(
Hopefully all will come right with her over time and I plan to take a few steps back, not to wipe my hands of her but to let her alone more and be there if she comes to me.
Now what is this AGAVE stuff you are getting I vaguely remember it being mentioned before??.
SOLSHINE What a you doing in cross stitch?? I do it too and am working on a "soul of the rose " picture which is taking me forever.
DEBBIE Wowee there you are at 125..good for you.. you must be looking soooo good!!! :D
Thanks for sharing your teenage experience with me. The way you felt sounds very similar to Lisa with her not wanting to deal with the consequences. I was flabbergasted she could think any stupid car was worth anything at all compared to her life. I would of been disappointed in the drinking as she was developing a real problem there and I was trying to keep her away from the stuff. I hope one day we will get along well again and everything wont be turned into a argument. I believe she is planning to take off with Shaun as soon as she's able :( She did have all sorts of goals and plans but they have all gone out the window now and she thinks she can leave school and do next to nothing. Oh well hopefully she will learn, I just didn't want it to be the hard way.
So tell me what to do in a nut shell food wise!! (please :) )
My mind must be in a sugar fog cos I don't remember enough to be sure I'm on the right track.

Hello Everybody!!! It's Friday and I had a GREAT Day!!!
We left for Louisville about 10 this morning and met up with BOB about noon. What a WONDERFUL AFTERNOON WE HAD!!! No kidding . . . so much fun. Her niece Cathy is so friendly and hilarious. You can sure tell who she takes after in the family. Two hoots . . . that's for sure!!! Anyways, I brought my friend Andrea with me and I think the four of us felt like fast friends by the end of the afternoon. We had a great lunch and then did the shopping thing. I love to browse. A special thanks must go out to BOB for finding me the GREATEST pair of Born shoes for 1/2 off the marked down price. She has the magical touch! DEB, rest assured that BOB and I have already planned out what will happen on the Galatis next trip to FL. It's going to be a good get together. All we have to do is decide when!
Anyways, I am really tired. I have a whole list of notes I made to respond to everybody, but it's going to have to wait until tomorrow. I apologize for neglecting you all this week. Felt like I was absent a lot. Hope you all are enjoying the weekend.
Catch you later.

Hi everyone
I've just finished eating a pile of buttermilk pancakes and sausages. I figured a single batch wasn't enough for my ds and me so decided to make a double batch and was expecting to have some left over for breakfast. But we ended up eating every single one of them. They are delicious - and legal. I must have been carb starved as I have been trying to keep down the starchy carbs the last couple of weeks. So it will be back to the protein and veggies tomorrow.
Deb - Congrats on your loss this week. 124 pounds sounds wonderful. I am sure you will not have any problem maintaining. It is strange how some can loose quickly and for others it takes forever. When I started this woe about 20 months ago I lost 10 pounds easily in the first month or so. Then I stalled for about eight months (I was probably eating too much of the legal stuff) before starting to lose again. I then lost 8 lbs in one month and then it took me about 4 months to lose another 8 lbs. This brings me to January this year since when I have lost the grand sum of 10 lbs. Which brings me to 199 lbs for a total loss of 36 lbs. At least if I ever decide that I have lost enough I shouldn't have any trouble maintaining. Your blueberry buckle sounds wonderful. I'd love to make it but think I should wait until I have lost a few more pounds before making any dessert as I will probably end up eating 75% of it. Like you I would hate to see any of it go to waste, particularly when I have spent time making it. :D. Thanks for your kind words. That was an interesting article you posted on the glycemic index and fibre.
Solshine - I hope we can keep each other company again next week but with the scale going in the other direction. At least we are still below the 200.
Tv- How did the thyroid testing go. I hope next WIW is more succussful for you. That was a lot of will power to resist those home made cookies.
Bob - CONGRATS on the 4 1/4 lb loss. THATS WONDERFUL. How did you do it. Can you give me some hints? Have fun shopping while you are away.
Sef - It sounds like you have a very busy schedule. I was speaking to my dd yesterday. She was feeling a bit groggy for a few days after the medicine she had for the migraine but she's feeling much better now.
Nance - The weather up here has been much cooler lately. We had it really hot for a few weeks but, of course, not nearly as hot as where you are. I haven't done much bike riding for the last couple of weeks as I've been fighting a cold but hope to get back to it soon. It should be easier too in the cooler weather.
Ldblond - Sorry to hear about the problems you've had. I hope you are feeling better since the surgery.
Viv - Glad to hear you are maintaining - sure beats gaining. I'm sure when things get back to normal for you and you can stay op you shouldn't have any difficulty losing those last few pounds. Enjoy your visit with your Mom.
Melf - Thanks for the e-mail with the website. Looks like a very good site to browse through with lots of motivational stuff. And that was a good article you posted on sugar. Thanks for taking the time to type it in.
Frog - I hope you have a wonderful weekend at the beach.
Bee 125 - Welcome back. Sorry to hear of all the problems you are having. Those teeneage years can be a real bummer. Here are a few guidelines about this woe: When you are checking labels for sugar content it should have no more than 3 grams per serving. Have a serving of protein at each meal; eat lots of vegetables and salads but avoid potatoes, cooked carrots and corn; eat no more than 2-3 servings of starchy carbs per day - one serving being 1 slice of bread or 1/2 cup brown rice. Eat whole grain breads only; if baking use stone ground whole wheat flour only. Lentils and legumes are acceptable as most of them have a low glycemic index and are high in protein. Hope this helps. Have you read the book?
Ann - How did the racing go last weekend.
Rhroo - Your posts make me smile. How's it feel now with the kids back at school.
Kim - Glad your day went well and you had a good visit with BOB.
I started this post a few hours ago so I think it is time I got it finished.
Have a good weekend everyone. I'll be out in the morning to see two of my gs's play in a soccer tournament. I'm sure dd will be glad when this week is over. She's had a very busy summer with four boys playing soccer.
Bye for now
Marie.

Good evening all!! It has been a busy day. I was up and down stairs so much I don't need a StepMaster!
Between wash, vacuumin and dusting, changing bed, doing litter box, you know the whole cleaning routine. But it's all a part of life. I always say "clean enoug to be healthy, dirty enough to be happy". Believe me I was getting ecstatic!!! Had to something or else Board of Health would be around!
DEB: You should be pooped! You are always on the go and it catches up after a while, especially w/ TOM in the picture.
My gd does the hair highlighting bit for my dil. It's like crocheting, just pull the hair through the holes in the cap. They make it look easy enough!! I am getting grayer all the time but too lazy to "dye".
I know we are slaves to the one-eyed monster. That's why I don't weigh myself weekly. My routine seems to be lose a few, stay that way a while and then lose a few. I get so discouraged during those times I remain the same as I know I am not cheating! Such is life, have to go the way our metabolism goes I guess. Siiiigghhhh.
BOB: Of course Penn State is the best!!! Just hear me roar!!!! Go Lions!!! What the devil is benedictine, besides monks? And wine? Glad computer is convenient for you. Say hey to Kim for me.
RHROO: It's the pits to have allergies. My ds really suffered when he was younger. When he came home to see his father for the last time, he insisted on mowing the lawn. The tears were just running. I know it was allergies, but a few had to be for his father.
BEE: I don't know you as I joined the Board about the time you left. I am glad you are coming back. We so often forget that if we don't take care of ourselves, it becomes more difficult to help others.
I know that eating doesn't solve anything and I've done my share of it in hopes that it would help me to feel better about things. It didn't, in fact I berated myself for not being able to cope w/ the food.
I have a ds and a dd. Our son was much easier to raise, he was less intense. He was no angel but he would listen,,,,didn't always take our advice, but he would listen. On the other hand to this day, I can't tell my dd anything. I love her dearly but our relationship is not what I desire. I admire so much the closeness my dil and gd have, I wish I could have acheived that with my dd. I now live w/ ds and family. I could never live w/ dd! As a teenager we had our difficulties but she came to her senses. I admire her very much, she has done things that at the same age I would have been too timid to do, and she is an excellent nurse. I can only offer my prayers for you that in the long run all the good you have taught your dd, will eventually emerge.
MELF: Let me tell you, even though it is all going well, all that packing causes a certain amount of stress. We all know that for some of us we think that ood will help. But we know the answer to that don't we? You'll soon be back OP, because we know it works.
I liked the article on Sugar Addiction. Have I been in LA too long when I complain about the rain cutting into my pool time. I usually go in afternoon when there is some shade, of course it poured then today!
SOL: Happy stitching! I like the projects that take a while. If the reason is they are a little difficult, not because I just can't get to it! Have a HAppy Anniversary!!
TV: Just had to try the silver! Know what you mean about the weather. A rainy day is a good day to curl up with a book and let the rest of the world go by!
Hope all is well w/ everyone. Take care.

EVENING EVERYBUDDY!!! :D
WHAT A DAY!!!! Met up with KIM and her "BUD" ANDREA at lunchtime...We had a really good visit at RAFFERTY'S and some good grub too! We really didn't go that many places, but we SURE DID HAVE A GOOD TIME!!
I'm glad KIM was able to find some of my shoes of choice..
THey are SO COMFORTABLE and she will not be sorry she bought them~
DEB DITTO to what KIM said about FLA... You would have loved it up here today...in the 70's!!! You could have done some REAL RUNNING and not even break a sweat!!
BENEDICTINE is a sandwich spread made from cucumbers.
I think it's mixed with sour cream...the container is downstairs so I'm not sure what else is in it..I found the low fat version at KROGER....YES....BOB GOT TO GO TO KROGER!!! and it's not as good (of course) as the full fat kind...got some beer cheese made by the MONKS[/b] and will probably take a few containers of that home with me...it's so good with celery...
MARIE I actually followed the plan that my nutritionists gave me...and like I said last night...the whole key is portion control...When I get home, I'll post some of the meal suggestions so you can get the idea.
MAKING DEB'S QUICHE TOMORROW>>>> Greg's mother is meeting us for lunch and then we're going wig shopping with her. SHe is preparing for her CHEMO which starts next FRIDAY!! and will be getting the MEGA DOSE kind.
Cathy doesn't like mushrooms, so I have to leave those out...She DOES like artichokes...might add some of those...
CAN'T GET HER TO TRY THE HUMMUS THOUGH!!
TENNESSEE game starts at 4pm and we've decided that since we'll already be in, we'll just cook on the grill....GUESS WHAT WE'RE HAVING MELF????
Tomorrow is also the KENTUCKY vs LOUISVILLE which is the GOVERNOR'S CUP GAME It starts at 12:30! [i]HOW IN THE WORLD WILL I EVER FIT ALL THIS IN TOMORROW???
I'm off to bed, and will get to everyone tomorrow...For all of you who are traveling to a GAME, BE CAREFUL!! :^:
HOPE EVERYONE WINS TOMORROW!!! That will be the only time I will be able to say that...after tomorrow, we'll all be playing each other!!!!

Thought I'd try to get a quick post in before going to bed!
This week is flying by. My nieces come for a visit tomorrow. I'm sure I will spend a good portion of the day shopping since it is supposed to rain. I will have to make sure I get some time in for the football games. I hope the games turn out well for everyone tomorrow!
Congrats to all this week's losers. I think I hit 236 for about a minute yesterday. Will see if it holds when I get home. I did get to work out twice with my SIL at her gym this week. That always helps and I have noticed that the measuring tape is showing progress.
BOB_-way to go with over 4 lbs lost! I'm proud of ya! I hope UT wins tomorrow!
Deb--congrats on your new low too!
I hope everyone has a goodholiday weekend!

Hey All!
An extreme quickie-have to get in the shower and get out of here by 8:30am-Lauren has a Bat Mitzvah today and we have to be up there by 10am, I'm cutting it close. Will be gone all day long, so will be MIA from the board. Will hopefully get some time this evening to answer all the posts-otherwise, tomorrow for sure.
Have a wonderful weekend.

FLY!!!!! YOU'RE BACK!! WELCOME!!
You ARE missed when you're away! I know all about trying to catch up on those posts! Don't feel like you have to - just jump on in!
BOB and QUILTER So glad y'all got to meet! Did anyone take PICTURES?????? You know how much we like to see them! Congrats on the great shopping, too! BOB we should start calling you BABE instead with all your great weight loss! Congratulations!!!
DEBBIE - I've been meaning to tell you that I think there are some funny people selecting other options than how much we missed you while you were gone!!! I hope you had fun at the Bat Mitzvah. In my small town in Mississippi growing up we had ONE Jewish family with kids my age. My classmate invited almost the whole school to hers. Needless to say it was quite the cultural experience for us Southern Baptists! Had a great time! I learned so much from her about the Jewish faith. But I never learned those cool words you and VIV are always teaching us!
FILLISE - Good to hear from you! You must be the favorite aunt as much as you do for those neices!! Do you adopt?? We play Memphis on ESPN2 at 6pm tonight. Today will be NASCAR day for me! (and working on my resume) :( I hope I get it done and will not have needed to.
SEF I picked what I thought would be a quick and easy little piece - it's a birdhouse with 2 birds on it and some pretty flowers around it. Of course it isn't going quick because I haven't had much time to devote to it, but I just love when I get to sit down and work on it.
RHOO I have THE WORST ALLERGIES!!! I take an Actifed every night before bed. It works better for me than anything the Dr. gives me. My mom used to make my brother and I take Actifed before school in the mornings and we would cry and beg her not to because we would end up sleeping through class. It totally sucks! Know your family has my sympathies!
MARIE I had bacon this morning and fried my eggs in the grease. I haven't done that in soooo long and it was soooo good! It reminded me of when my grandmother would fix us breakfast when we would go visit her. She was a true southern cooking woman! Of course then it made me want her fluffy biscuits and fig preserves!! :^: Your pancakes were probably a better idea. I'm hoping for us to have better news for everyone next Wednesday!
BEE That 'soul of the rose' picture sounds very pretty! I want to do something with our last name OLECH in calligraphy with flowers or ivy or something around it next. I think I might have to design it, but I'm going to have to look into it since I've never designed one, but I'm thinking I must be able to come up with something. I'm doing a birdhouse right now. SEF is a master cross stitch artist. There's more description of my piece in the post to her above.
MELF Thank you so much for taking the time to type up that information!! What a wealth of knowledge in that piece! Be sure to take some MARY time this week-end!
Well, I just finished passing my MOUS Expert Access exam!! My boss said she would make sure I at least got reimbursed for the cost of the exam (they were giving bonuses until we had the layoffs). If I got the bonus, too, I wouldn't mind, but I completely understand if I don't get that! It will be nice just to have it on my resume at this point.
I've got to go and get some cleaning done before the day is completely over.
Have a great week-end everyone!

Hi all. Been really busy this week with back to school bus meeting. Had 5!!!!!!!??? Can you believe it? Three for schools with their expectations. A division safety and human resouce update meeting and then a supervisor expectation meeting. I'm meeting'd out. And the paperwork..... Who would've thought bus drivers did paperwork!!!! I'm not whining really. Just amazed. Would you have expected all that? One meeting was a luncheon with pizza....not one slice.
I'm at 165. Yeah 20 lbs now. So what did I do to celebrate? Tried one slice of Papa Johns pizza. My stomach was torn up that night. That should keep me away from illegal foods for a while. I guess I'd better start saving up for the massage and special memento of loss.
Rosalie-Thanks for the falafel explanation. Wrote down all the book suggestions. How is dd migraine? Does she get them often? I hope you are also avoiding the head cold.
Melf-loved your sugarbuster article. I saved it. Your mom's website made me misty. I hope my children feel the same way. Sounds like you're having fun with sisters and thanks for missing me!
LinMae-congratulations on the loss. Wow it sounds like you have a great family.
Gator=Sounds like Wis definitely fun. Your facial and pedicure sounds like fun. I'm looking around for a good place now
Raly-congrats on dh job!!! Such a relief!
Fillese-glad dad's stint went great. And way to go on that all time low!!! Pretty soon you'll be in the below 200 club too!!!
Nance-I got a Cinderella image of you scrubbing floors. How you were singing too. Congrats on the 4.5 miles. Who knew Debbies dungeon included NIKES You made it!! Sorry about the sunburn. Probably better now right? Doesn't have that sting every time the skin bends now right? Thanks for missing me. And 223!!! You're goinna be in that club soon too!!! Just been in the back to school blur.....NO time to do anything but stay op (mostly:o :o). I really am looking forward to it. I like some time to myself during the day. Quiet time.
Purple D-Glad to hear the implants going well. I want to cheer your arrival at goal on NOv 10th. and the 150 goal then!!! The weekend trip went well with son. He had a blast! I survived too but it started a week of insomnia. He loved the concert and the freedom too. I am so grateful that I could let him go and be reasonably sure he would stay safe. I know that's a precious gift.
Quilter!!!--Thanks for the chalk idea. The ants seem to think this is the place to be. I opened my cabinet the other day and they were all over my Agave nectar bottle. That's when I knew it was WAR!!! Glad you & Bob had fun playing. Harry Potter was awesome!!! I have finished all 4 books. Once you get started it's hard to stop. I'm now reading to my 8 year old. He can read but has a hard time and I really want him to get the stories. Sorry about the alt text lesson. Glad the others stepped in for me. He went to see some unknown Christian punk bands. Mitzi is better. No accidents yet. Knock on wood. I love  the scoopable litter. What was I thinking before???? :dizzy: because I now get it. Use less even though you pay more. The $$$ held me back before. All my kitties like it. I agree you have it worse. Black ants ugh. Was Jackies lump a cyst?? I feel so relieved for her.
fruitloupe-Welcome back. I joined after you left. I know that weight will be off in no time. Still loving the new computer?
TV-hows the abdoer? Do some for me. Good luck on the tubal. Great that the jeans are loose. Sorry about your dad. My dh lost his 12 years ago and he's still misses him. He had hesitations to take some of his dads stuff but now likes the tangible reminder of him. Hopefully the truck will be the same. Did you forgive yourself for the club sandwich yet? I bet you did. Congrats on the cc cookie determination!!! They are a big love of mine.
sef-we missed you. 6 lbs!!! Way to go. Loved your "find a friend who wants to sabotage you and show them they can't" and the PA dutch saying too. I'm with you on those "reality shows" I have enough of my own reality. I now want fantasy!!! At least for a little while. Your stairmaster gave me a smile too!
 Sol-It was so cool the way Fla beat Brooklyn in little league. Now look at all the fallout. Good luck on your exam this weekend. You didn't tell us if Vince carried you over the threshold of your "new" house. I'm going to read that Catherine Neville book. Thanks for answering Quilters text question and very smart for taking that zuchini pizza!!
Sparkle-loved the pictures. I hope to get a chance to read the essays pretty soon.
Viv-hope your caught back up soon. In another life I'm on a successful diet of baguettes!
Deb-Welcome back. I'm jealous!!:p Raspberry picking in the mountains. Glad you ate some for me. I'm so happy you reached 124!! I think if you want to lose a few more-go for it.
Bob-You go with that treadmill and 4.5 lbs!!!! You deserve it!!! So sorry about the hard drive. What is it about the ocean you don't like? Give Skeeter a hug for me. Yes, come take me away in that wagon....anywhere!
Rhoo-I didn't realize you were so close to goal. You go girl!! I too am anxiously awaiting back to school. Is it my imagination but are the children a little worse the week before the end? We have been cramming in fun inbetween all the meetings and so I've been exhausted. How did dd react to that shot? My son has to get it soon too.
Frog-Glad to see you and hear BW is ok too. Have fun at the beach!!! I know sand running is killer for the legs.
Karen-sounds like you have fun camping. Loved
"goals are dreams with deadlines". I hope your bay windows are awesome real soon.
idblond-I loved the motivation you gave. Are you ok?
Catlover-Congratulations on the 2 lb loss.
Bee-welcome back. I joined after you left too. My heart goes out to you. My son had some problems (check out my bio if you want) and came through them. He's also 16 and I'm not sure if the problems are over for good but it's definitely better. I will be seriously praying for you and Lisa. I had such helpless feelings and fear when he was going through his worst. You are right to also work on you and I wouldn't rule out counseling or joining a parent support group...maybe even on the web. Good luck with the new program and I hope you're a loser soon!!!
Well all, gotta go. It's been two more hours. Do you remember that friend who kept sabotauging me? She's back on the plan.

Well I got though yesterday very well I think the only thing I had we are not allowed was a rice cake in the evening but are we allowed potatoes??? I had 1/2 one with dinner. I like having a protein powder shake in the morning and that keeps me going till lunch. I read out some of the sugar articles I printed out to DH and I nearly fell of my chair when he said he want to cut right back on the sugar too
'FLY , nice to meet you, are you a school teacher. Actually I will go and check out your bio as you suggested and find out all about you there ;) So you have had your share of problems with teenagers too. You all seem to have come though the other side so that gives me hope.
What's with the massage. Is it to be a reward at some stage. ive been thinking along those lines , ive never been and had one but I'm wanting to more and more.
SOLSHINE I must admit I was one of your 'funny people that answered the poll. As I just came back I didn't know she had been away so my answer was "have you been somewhere"
Is you cross stich counted ? I used to do printed ones and they were easier and more fun but this one I'm doing now is 14 by 19 inches and I wonder if I will ever finish it..So what sort of things do you do SEF?
Hi to you BOB remember me from *** last year? You are hanging in here well with SB eh! and congrats on the 4lb last week. What is this sport you guys are all following at the mo? Is it football?
I'm hoping I can stick with this now and see it though.
I really think I have now excepted I have a problem with sugar and it is the cause of my headaches and weight gain. I am addicted to the stuff but I want to get my life together so it will have to go!
I envy you guys that you can get together and make real friends.
Also your choice of foods is amazing i found a site last night with so many things I would like we cant get here but of course when I tried to order some they dont ship to New Zealand. The site washttp://www.dietdepot.com/main.php and had heaps of food suitable for the SB WOE lucky you!

Thanks Bee :) for the warm welcome! Wonderful...1 day down and any number to go!!! If you're like me and get real tired try One a Day for Women. That was Frogs suggestion and it was wonderful! Thanks Frog.
Yes, I decided to follow the others example and reward myself as I go. So at every 10 lb mark (160,150 etc) I'm rewarding myself. The massage is wonderful. I injured my back working out a year ago and went to a massage therapist. It was like I'd died and gone to heaven (except where the injury was). I said, hmmmm, what if I didn't hurt at all? So I'm going to do it.
As for the potatos. Correct me if I'm wrong ladies. White potatoes are not allowed. They are converted way too easily into glucose but sweet potatoes are not. Look back at Melf's or Rosalie's post (not sure which) of last week. So I'm having sweet potatoes with my flank steak terriyaki tonight and a salad. Yum, yum, yum... Can't wait.
We'll stick together on this teenage thing! We mothers need to be there for each other. Especially since we are so awful according to our teens. My sis in law sent me a "Teenage code of ethics" when my son turned 13. I'll share it with you if you want. It does help when things get a little tough to put it into perspective.
Also, I'm a school bus driver.
Well, gotta go.

Hello dear ladies!
Many thanks to those who mentioned me. Ya'll are the greatest. I've missed you too. There were two reasons for my being away this week. First, I HAVE been eating sugar yes I will confess, and I don't feel like I belong or even have been speaking the same language as you all the past week or so. (More later.) Second, I made my 1,735,443rd resolution not to post or do any personal stuff at work so that has drastically cut down on my online time. All I've been doing is writing a tired post on my forum and a quick note to the semi love interest at 11 pm and then crash. Today I'm supposed to be cleaning house and have gotten so far as the kitchen before I just stopped. ;) Oh, last week was a whole nother story which of course I will whine about later in this post too.
A few quick comments:
Deb I appreciated the detailed description of your trip, which sounded like loads of fun. I so admire you for being able to stick to your resolve during vacation ESPECIALLY VEGAS where I was just completely overwhelmed. I did miss you although I was one of the ones who voted "Who are you???" (Just couldn't help myself ;) )
Kim or Anna (I can't remember which) one of you said something about never having thought of SugarBusters as a religion. I didn't mean to imply that you ever did say that or think that, only that I'm the one who has a hard time with black and white thinking so that's what I tell myself when I start beating myself up over a "transgression."
Rhonda Do you have a link to your online thrift shop? I'd like to take a look at it. Sounds very interesting.
Bee/Jenny I was just absolutely in tears while reading the story of your daughter. My good wishes are with you. I don't know what to say only that at 16 I was quite unreachable and engaged in a lot of self destructive behavior. Unfortunately nothing my parents said to me made a lick of difference AT THE TIME. But after getting worse things got better. And so will things for your daughter.
On a lighter note, what's it like living in New Zealand?
SolShine Hi! Good luck on your exam this weekend, whatever the heck that means, and your 5th anniversary celebration NEXT weekend. Sounds like loads of fun. I'm only a LITTLE jealous. ;)
Mary Thanks for posting the stumbling blocks to giving up sugar information. So very true! It's not just the psychological/physical cravings that are so difficult to overcome it's the social expectations too. I have run into a lot of that!
'Fly and all you other loser congrats!
FrogA belated welcome back to you as well! It seems to me we've both traveled somewhat the same road with our weight, and running, marathon experience and all. So I know that there are ALWAYS going to be bumps in the road no matter what success you have under your ever shrinking belt! Hang in there! Have fun at the beach.
:)
Excuse me for being so spotty in responses but I'm pretty tired.
So. Last week I had lost my glasses some time back and was wearing this one with a very out of date prescription that I knew gave me terrible headaches. Lenscrafters wanted $325 for glasses and wouldn't do rimless. I told them to ___ _________ and went to Kaiser for $130 (with insurance) but had to wait over two weeks. Meanwhile the headaches got progressively worse until I had to move my computer screen 2 inches from my face and go without glasses all day and by Sunday, I had to cancel a beach party we were supposed to throw and was literally in bed all day long. Needless to say I didn't get any work done.
So I got some cute little glasses and all is well this week. I had really let the posting and other time wasting mechanisms get out of hand. I realize that it should be obvious to everyone that working time is for work but I'm sure many of you can sympathize with me that even when you are a sincere, hard worker as I am that bad habits can sneak up on you. So I finally had to make another resolve to do only work and had a very productive week, even setting up some appointments to meet with employees (of the companies who have our pension plans.)
I signed up for a 15 week hip-hop dance class which started yesterday and I was very much looking forward to. BUT I totally missed my first class which bummed me out due to.......
......yesterday was the last day of special incentives on GMC trucks. Martin and I have had our eye on ONE SPECIAL Sonoma crew cab 4WD in sapphire metallic blue. We have been checking it out for weeks now. So we had to go right after work and ended up at the dealership until 8:30 at night. After much fighting (which was a huge learning experience for me) we walked away with our dream truck! I drove it off the lot! I have not yet gotten over the shock. I have driven nothing but dangerously unsafe beach beaters for my entire life and would never have thought of getting a new vehicle ever (Martin is making all the payments but it's a joint venture). So I'm still drunk off of the excitement. We immediately took it to show to our friend Becca and were hanging out in her friend's driveway just sitting in the bed (which has a bedliner) just shooting the bull for hours. I mean, you just can't HANG in a moldy smelly old Ford Taurus!!! ;) Then even though it was after midnight Martin wanted to show it off to his diving buddies, so we didn't get to bed until quite late. This morning we saw Becca off at the airport very early and showed it to her parents, then stopped by and showed it to MY parents. We have been so utterly obnoxious! ;)
(Mommy's expected reaction: "Oh, I guess it's nice." Daddy's expected reaction: "I can't see nobody spending so much money on TRUCK. Why, my friend Joe got a 1999 Chevy Cavellier for only $2,000 and all that was wrong with it was a blown head gasket!!! And it's going to cost you $40 to fill up the tank (true). Why don't you get one of those little electric cars?" Actual reaction: very close.)
For those who aren't yet sickened by my obnoxiousness you can even see a picture! ;)
Chris and Martin's new toy (http://www.shapeshakers.com/pics/crewcab.jpg)
So after my little vacation thing I was in a bit of a crisis point with my food which is just an outward expression of what's going on inside of course. I was having a really hard time. Part of me really wanted to rebel against how "good" I've been doing lately and that was fighting against the pressure I've put on myself that I CAN'T GAIN WEIGHT no matter what, and I think the conflict was just too much and I didn't CARE anymore. But I do care and it's like trying to steer a car after the tire has blown: you do have some control but then again you don't, and it's really freaking scary. So I have managed to regain some kind of control, and have been doing about exactly half my workouts (3 per week that is) and have been getting some really good weight workouts in. And have been controlling my food despite eating sugar and although I'm scared to weigh, by the fit of my clothes I'm not gaining rapid amounts of weight. Also, I have started seeing a therapist because of this and other issues that are going on in my life. I have been very prejudiced against seeking any professional help for many years, but because I DO put my physical and emotional health first I decided to take that step. Right now I'm not trying to get right back on as strict as I was before (not only sugarbusters but doing body for life and controlling my food) because I'm not ready. But I'm not doing badly at all, and another thing is that I really want to stop letting that number on the scale control how I feel about myself and my body. I mean I get super depressed when I see the scale is up a few pounds, as I see many others here doing and something about that is just not right. There are so many other factors to weight loss and LIFE than just the number. But I have not given up on reaching my goal! It's just that I have so many other things to work on too.
Okay I gotta go cause Martin's home. Good luck to everyone for the coming week!
Lots of love,
Chris

Hello Everybody!
Hope you all are having a fantastic Saturday. We didn’t have much excitement. Just spent our tax refund on new tires for my car. Whoopee. You can’t even tell a bit of difference. I told Paul for that much money, they should at least shine them up with armor all, so you can even tell the difference from the old ones. LOL.
I have a list of brief comments that I listed a couple of nights ago. So sorry for getting behind and not being very active this week. I have to confess that I’ve been wrapped up in the U.S. Open and watched way too much of it on tv. Next week will be better, I promise. : )
OH MY GOSH BOB---I owe you a huge apology. I cannot believe that we spent hours together yesterday and I totally did not congratulate you on your wopping 4+ pound loss!!!! PLEASE FORGIVE ME!!! You should have slapped me upside the head and said, “Girl aren’t you going to acknowledge all the hard work I’ve been doing.” I am humbled and feel really bad for not saying anything. Please tell Cathy thanks for driving us all over creation. That was nice to get to ride and see the sights!
DEB---Congrats on the NEW LOW!!! That is truly wonderful and I’m so happy for you. Your vacation sounded wonderful. So glad you two got to relax and enjoy soem quality time.-----I haven’t heard a thing about John Edward’s new daytime show. Is it called Crossing Over? I checked on the Sci-Fi channel the other night and it wasn’t on when it was supposed to be. Did you say it’s on at 10? I saw his new book at Books a Million yesterday. Wish it wasn’t so darned expensive. Even with BOB’S discount card, it would have still cost over 20. Too much for this wallet. I’m glad you are liking the show. He’s really great. I believe it all!!!!!
FROG---Welcome back! So glad to see your smiley face. Well, I know that I don’t actually see your face, but I imagine that you are smiling when you are typing most of the time. I’m just being silly. Hey, way to go ont he long runs. You are really getting ready quickly.----Hope your connection stays where it’s supposed to. It’s amazing how quickly we get attached to this internet and when it’s down EEEEEK!---Send a congrats to Grandma for having 90 birthdays! That is wonderful. How much fun for you all.
RHROO---Hey, chick! Glad to hear the five mile went well. Was the route pretty flat. I love hearing you talk about getting your original SB menu going. I’ve been saying the same thing to myself!
KAREN---Two inches of rain in one night!!!! Did you fear you might get washed away? Where’s the ark? Gla dyou are okay.
NANCE---A new puppy??? Fantastic. You know, I am definitely a dog person. You are so lucky to get one. Trixie sounds like a sweetie. And maybe Floyd will be too much of a gentleman to pass his “usual” in her presence! LOL
ROSALIE---I hope this weekend is better than last one for you. I’m really crossing my fingers that you get tons of sleep and NO visits to the ER.
LDBLOND---So glad to hear that you got to meet “the gang”. I’m sure you had an enjoyable evening with them. Your motivation Monday was awesome!
MELF---I am another of the many okra fans we have on the board. I went to school in East Tennessee (GO VOLS!) and those old women in the kitchen could surely cook it to perfection. Of course, they dipped it in cornmeal and then lovingly fried it to just the way I liked it. Mmmmmm. I’ve never cooked it myself, but on occasion get it out at restaurants. ENJOY it while it lasts!
SOL---That wedding sure sounded different. What fun! There was one of our relatives who did the same sort of thing a few years back. But it wasn’t a close relative, so I wasn’t invited. But I heard all the details from others who went. You sure had a good idea to eat before the festivities. Good thinking!
FILLISE---GREAT TUESDAY TIP!!!!! I like the way you are thinking. Hey, way to go on your new low too. That’s great! Also glad to hear that your dad is doing well.
TV---What a funny story about tearing down the door due to bladder issues. I have been in the situation more than once in my life! I wondered when you talked about starting the “flush” so early, if you’d have regrets. Have to admit that I did a quick prayer that there would be no car accidents in front of you to keep you stopped in traffic.
LINMAE---The archery shoot sounds so neat. And congrats on finishing such a difficult walk that went with it. Were there people shooting arrows all over the place. Did you have to worry that one would come too close to where you were standing. Sort of like when you’re on the golf course and some wayward ball lands at your feet!
BEE---Welcome back! We missed you! When I read all about the chaos happening around you, I immediately sent up prayers and lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}}. Think they’ll make it to New Zealand? Gosh, what a difficult thing for you to be going through. I really and truly hope that your daughter finds some sort of peace in her heart and mind. I’m not a mom and have never suffered from depression, so I cannot give you one bit of advice. You will know the right things to do. Just keep listening to your heart and trying to find her the right counselor. Maybe she just didn’t like the first one and there’s another one out there who would suit her better. You take care. And good luck with getting back on program. Lord knows, you deserve some good things coming your way. You know that you have a powerful connection with us here on the board and we are all wishing you every happiness and every ounce of strength we can muster your way. Take care, friend!
Well, I know I’ve missed tons of people and I apologize. It’s not a good feeling being “behind” or being “a behind” for that matter. Thinking of you all and wishing you happy days and cooperative scales for this coming week.
Talk to you later!

SUPERFLY----Hey woman, I almost missed your post!!! Welcome back!!!! I hope those pesky ants will hit the curb running and take themselves right across the street. I have kept this powdered stuff around the kitchen door for a couple of weeks and haven't see any of them trying to barge in since. I got this stuff at Walmart in the garden center. It's called Bio???? and it's not toxic for children or pets. It's stinks to high heaven like a cheap perfume. (Maybe they are offended by the smell????) But so far it's working. I think the little red guys are worse to get rid of that the black ones. Not to depress you or anything, but one of my co-workers has had an exterminator to their house three separate times to try and get rid of them. Sure hope you have better luck.-----Glad to hear that the concert was at least a christian one. Did that make you feel better?----Well, I could write more, but I need to get to some other things. Talk to you later. BTW, do you have an AOL IM name? I want to put you on my buddy list.

Hello,
I know that it had been awhile since I have posted, but I have been reading the posts. THe week was a real busy one and
I am glad that it is over.
My congrads to all the losers here. The hard work is paying off. I can join you, I lost another 1.5 pounds in the last week or so. I still have a great liong way to go and I sometimes feel that I will never get there. Not that I won't try, just that it is taking longer that I visualized for my self.
Well, now that the summer is over and vacations are done, we all can get down to business, and into routine and I truely hope to see progess.
I hope that everyone has a great relaxing weekend.

Hiya SPARKLE :D how are you? I thought of you often in my absence out there on the streets of Hawaii on your rollerblades!!
Things in New Zealand are fine,... although it has rained just about solidly all weekend and its supposed to be spring now and we are still having fires some nights. I do hate the cold!
The hip hop dancing sounds like a load of fun. you are sooo active, good for you :)
FLY , Read about your son and it sounds amazing how he has changed. Our Lisa wont go to church with us anymore and never really did get involved in it. I live in hope she will turn herself around.
Yes please send me your "Teenage code of ethics" I would like to read it.
...and no more white potatoes huh?
I was not so 'good' today as yesterday but as it was Fathers day here we had my dad for lunch and also went out for dinner. I didn't eat as much sugar as I would normally and tomorrow is a new week to really get into it ;)
{KIM } yes your good wishes did reach me :) thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Good Sunday Morning Girls
Sounds like everyone is doing good this Labor Day weekend. Dan the Man and I are planning a great escape (translated 2-3 hours with no kids) and are going to go for a drive up to a place called "Forest Falls". It's not too far from here and hopefully there is actually some "falls" to look at!!!
Been on/off with this WOE. Nothing evil, just room for improvement. Craving more of the bad carbs than sugar.
Melf
Thanks for typing out that information from the magazine you read. I need to go back to your post, print it, and read it over and over!
Bee
"HI".....I started the board, just as you must have jumped ship! Looking forward to getting to know you. Hope everything is more stable with your daughter. Prayers are being said for you and your family!
Well Dan the Man is ready to go...I will post later! Hugs and kisses!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:
Whew! What a walk this morning. I dragged my butt out of bed late today, but decided to walk anyhow. It was 2 hours later than I normally would head out-2 hours of more heat and humidity. I got in my 4.5 miles but had to stop my jogs after logging just 10 of them-it's brutal out there!
Had a nice day out yesterday. Went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch with Eli's friend-was very hard to choose something from their menu and finally ended up with a Cobb Salad-I wasn't impressed to say the least, needless to say, it's not one of the top 10 on my fav. rest. lists!
SOL, you'll be getting to meet a few of us soon, you are probably the next victim on my list:lol: If you think about it, it's really not all that far away, 4 months! With the holidays around the corner, it's gonna fly by fast and before you know it, we'll be decending upon Orlando again! Then it seems, if I decide to go to the Mt. Dora Art Festival, I'll be up the following month as well-I really like it, but may have to miss it, coming up to root FROG on and to meet you both are far more important! Any cake baking this weekend???? What is it that you want to do with the Nestle Cocoa?? Baking? The expensive bars you buy are to eat of course, but also, they have the high cocoa content, thus costing more because they have less junk and more cocoa. When I want to use cocoa in baking, I use carob powder-if you aren't use to it, mix half cocoa and half carob. When I've used cocoa in the past, it's usually Dutch Processded Cocoa though. We didn't go to the B/M, it was just for Lauren to attend, a friend from camp-so we dropped her off and spent the day with a friend of Eli's that lives a little more to the north. Yes B/M are fun, but they have definitely gotten very "upscale" and are sometimes as much as a wedding! I've been to some very ritzy ones!
TV, you are showing great willpower with those cookies! Congrats! Non-SB legal foods don't tempt me a single bit, it's the SB LEGAL ones I make that I seem to have no control over. Being that I WAS a chocoholic, it amazes me how I can have about 30 SB LEGAL chocolate bars in my house and it doesn't even bother me, but bake something legal, and I'm bound to scarf just about all of it down without anyone else getting any-go figure! Did you get your agave nectar? How much did they end up charging you for a bottle? (just curious).
MELF, I get the same magazine, along with many others. Did you actually type all that up-hopefully you had a scanner, that's a lot of info you posted-thanks for sharing. If you don't know about the magazine site I posted last week, do check it out if you subscribe to NH, I pay on $5.95 for a year subscription! They have great deals-like REDBOOK, 3 years for $14.95 I paid, FITNESS, $5.95 for a year and others. Check out the site!!!
BEE, okay, yes, you are right, SB recommends 30% fat, 40% carbs and 30% protein. The rule of thumb for SB is 3 grams of sugar, or less. I thought you had the book from before. Definitely worth getting to make sure you know how to follow it, should be able to find it at the library. At least, try to find the Shopper's Guide with the foods that are acceptable/unacceptable to eat. I eat small meals throughout the day, it's what works best for me. I'm sure things will work out in time with your daughter, unfortunately, lots of heartache is having to be felt in the meantime. It's hard to be tough on kids, but at times like this you don't know if your being tough will help or make matters worse. It could help, but it could push her away more. It's not an easy thing to find yourself dealing with this and I know you must be feeling at a loss of what you should be doing. My thoughts are with you {{{HUGS}}}
QUILTER, enjoyed our little chat this morning! Glad you and BOB had a great time together!! I hope one day we all get to meet-it's a great experience, isn't it?!? Have fun with Paul and your family this Labor Day weekend!!! Yes, the show is called Crossing Over, I guess it's just gone on regular TV vs being only on cable, and I'm thrilled! I missed one day and wanted to cry-I love that show now! Heck, now I cry every day!!!! I think it's CBS that has it on.
ROSALIE, you mentioned sausage and I thought of Montreal! They have the BEST sausage links at a place called Adonis, if you ever do get over there-they are Middle Eastern and sooo yummy! Wish I had some:( As I said before, the patience you've shown with sticking with SB even though your losses have been slow, is wonderful. I do believe you will reach your goal but it will take time, but the most important things are that you are eating better, feeling better and exercising-all things that help make you feel better each day, and THAT'S really what's more important than what the scale says :)
SEF, can you please, please come to my house and help clean-I too think if the Board of Health came a knockin, they may take the kids away!!! My house is a wreck, esp. the dining room wher we have over 1000 books in boxes-thank goodness this book drive at Starbucks starts this week so he can start taking them into work! I'll tackle the kitchen today (so I say);)
BOB, Quilter gave me a brief review of your day together-glad you both had a good time. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip and what you found, and how you did OP, upon your return!!!!
Anyone try your hummus? How was the quiche liked??
FILLISE, would 236 be a new low for you??? Have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow!!!!!
FLY, glad to see you on the board, wondered where you were you were! Congrats on hitting the 20lbs mark!!!! Yes, rasp picking, and yes, I ate some for you, Melf, Quilter, Bob, Fillise, Sparkle, and all the rest of the gals. You think your stomach was ripped up from pizza, you should of seen mine! Between all the raspberries, figs and monsterra I ate on the trip, I'm lucky to still have a colon the way mine was working!
SPARKLE, glad you came out of hidding. What happened that made you go into a sugar frenzy? Don't ever feel you don't belong because you fell off the wagon-we can all understand that, and that's when you need our support more than ever! Don't ever NOT come on the board because of a downfall. Yes, I stayed OP during our trip-sorta drove Eli nuts-we walked in and out of places quite a few times if I didn't like the menu/selections available-he's so good to keep most of his opinions to himself, though I do know it does drive him nuts at times. He wants to know why I won't give in a little-I had no real answers for him, just don't want to. How I'd love to take a hip hop class - sounds fun!!!! Congrats on the new truck and drive it in good health. Don't let what anyone else says to you take away from your excitment, seems like no matter what you may do or buy, if they are like my family, you'll always hear some type of negativity-don't let it bother you! It's a gorgeous truck!!!!!
LAMAP, congrats on another 1.5lb loss-you're doing great! I can totally relate about the timeframe it's taking to lose the weight-I first thought I'd of lost all my weight by my birthday last year-it took me 8 months longer than I thought, but you know what, I really didn't mind and it went faster than I thought it ever would!
NANCE, how did you get in a post without me seeing you on line-you little devil! Have a great time on your mini honeymoon with Dan today. Let us know how your day went!!!! {{{HUGS}}}
Okay gals, I must go get something to eat, jump in the shower and take Lauren to see a friend who's in the hospital. I'll check in with you all later.
Please remember, tomorrow starts the new board and it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY as well, so if you have any words of encouragment or inspiration or great qauotes you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow.
Have a wonderful Sunday and a great Labor Day tomorrow!!!

A good wet Texas afternoon to yall. I swear its been raining here in my neck of the woods since last Monday. Ive been off the computer as we have had thunder and lightning. Hi everyone,
So this Monday is your Labour Day, ours is in October.
DEBBIE, no I don't have the book, it is not in our Library or the ones they borrow from. It not well known a diet really here. Everyone (well dieting types like me) knows of the Zone, Atkins etc and Weight watchers and Jenny Craig are the most popular. There's also a diet called the "Kiwi Kiss" that I know a couple of ladies on but it was too regimented for me.
At that "Diet Depot" site they had the book and the food choices one you mentioned and I Emailed the people about ordering some stuff off them to be sent here and she said sure thing so I will do that if the ppostage is not a killer. The exchange rate for our money to yours is about 42 cents. So If something is $4 American it costs me $10. We earn $40,000 a year so in your money that is not very much at all is it!! about $16,000. great place for you guys to come for a holiday as you would find it so cheap!! We have quite a few Americans living here now and they all seem soo rich!!
Remember you told me about the Jok'nAl jam? that is scrse as hens teeth to find here, its ridiculous that is made here and they have a big range but we cant buy the stuff.
Actually we have a wonderful choice in NZ for fresh fruit and vegies and meat that has grown up out in the paddock with the grass. Its when it comes to packaged things without sugar we are rather behind. Eating lots of carbs is what is incouraged "Load up on carbs for energy" There's low fat big time on all the labels and when I did WW last year I had trouble with it as I had low blood sugar problems cutting back on my total intake and my fat but not my sugar and I got so many headaches. The WW leader didn't understand as she was always working out ways for ladies to be able to have there cake and eat it too.
I don't think being tough on Lisa is going to help. yesterday though was fathers day and we went out for dinner. She didn't want to come as she wanted to be with Shaun. I just said to her "It isn't fair to cut every other relationship and everyone that loves you out of your life now you have Shaun. There may not be all that much time left with you and Carl getting older for just us all to be together and you are coming with us tonight. If you and Shaun are going to be together forever well theres no panic to spend every single spare moment with him. He'll be there tomorrow". So she came with a glum glare ..but 1/2 hr later she was really enjoying herself and then we all went to see 'Shreik' and she was laughing and had a good time as we all did. So it was a good day :D
Better go and make the beds and put on the washing.

Hi everyone! I know you all have heard the sad news about the poor little boy killed by a shark yesterday. It's so sad and I'm praying for the family and the horror they're living through. That is the exact beach I let my babes go to.
I went last week and all I did was scan the waters for shark fins. No relaxation for me. The whole time I told myself......probably nothing to worry about. And then this happened!!!! So our beach days are done for a while. My boys have announced that they won't be swimming for a while.
My son (16) came home from an overnighter and declared "Hi mom, I really missed you" and gave me a hug. I really missed him too. That is until he started playing the drums. Must get the sound proofer for those things soon!!!!!
Well, gonna get to the responses and say so long for today. Have an awesome Sunday all!!!
Quilter-Thanks for the heads up about Walmart. Dh still hasn't brought home the chalk yet so I know where to go Monday if no chalk shows up. I'd love to make the ants have a "cheap perfume" headache. Don't have an AOL IM name but my email is on the bio. Went and edited this after reading Suzannes note about spam. Love to be your buddy.
lamap-Congratulations on the loss!!!! Way to go. I'm going to routining with you soo too.
Bee-Will do the Code of Ethics. Just on downstairs computer and it's on upstairs so I'll get that done tomorrow. It's so cool to have a pal in New Zealand. I love the awesome pics I've see of there. Are you by the coast? I imagine you speaking with a "down under" accent. Do you sound like the typical Aussie? You all probably have some major shark attacks there.
Sparkle-You go you "hip hop" gal!!! :) Liked the truck. You have fun with it. Do some moves for me. It sounds like me with previous "diets". I'd have this huge expectation and then "fall off" and spend weeks getting myself together and, in total truth, years. The best I can figure is I set myself up for failure with all the "black and white" thinking patterns too. I've been doing some major praying with this woe plan to be relaxed and self forgiving of slips. So far it's working. The real truth is I was so desperate for an answer that I prayed almost continuously for a way and then I discovered Sugarbusters and this website!!! Thank God! Sorry about all the God talk but I really feel that's where the credit lies. So hang in there girl!
Miss Nance-You have fun on that get away!!! Way to take care of yourself. Last night both my oldest boys were away at sleepovers. So........I put on "our music", a little number my dh gave me on an anniversary complete with garters and fishnet stockings, poured some wine, lit candles, put on perfume, went to wake him up on the couch and he announced "my stomach is hurting". So much for all the work!!!!:) At least I didn't have fat hanging out much this time. Actually felt a little sexy. The good news. We're going to his cousins wedding in October in upsate New York and.....get this.....the reception is a "Halloween costume affair". So if anyone has killer ideas on what to go as I would love to hear them. My mom is keeping the kids!!! Yippee!!! And...they're getting married at a vineyard. How is Feris's arm? Mending fine now. Ben tried to skip four stairs and severely sprained his ankle again. When is the child going to learn???? He's fine, pain is minimal now and swelling down. He's constantly reassuring me he's "fine" when I come toting ibuprofen and ice.
Deb=I really loved your "colon" piece! You just demonstated to those Hollywod starlets how to cleanse their colons and save major bucks!!! You know the ones who go in and have their colons cleansed to lose 10 lbs. And you did yours au natural. I have this new love affair with feta cheese and I have to really be careful with that too!!!
catlover-here's sending a little sunshine your way. I loved how you posted your workout goals for the week.
Well, ladies. Goodbye for now.

Hello everyone. An ecouragement from Debbie has pushed me from behind the curtain and into the light of posting a message. I have been lurking and reading for a couple of weeks and am amazed at the friendliness of you all.
I am a veteran of the weight-loss world. Looking back on my life, I had success every ten years at reaching a healthy weight, first with WW then JC. It's been another decade and it's time to regroup. I bought the SB book quite a while back but wasn't ready to give up my favorites: potato chips! But knowing that as my 45th BD approached, I was a prime candidate for Type 2 diabetes because of my family history and my obesity, I decided I needed to get healthy to save my life. I started SB about 3 weeks ago and am very pleased with how much better I feel already.
The scales are not my friend. I try not to weigh every day, but they are right there in the bathroom calling me each morning. I know I've lost inches, but just now have my tape measure from my daughters to see how many inches I'm losing. I know I'm into a size smaller jeans. And that feels good.
I teach school and have 2 teen daughters at home, so I am busy, busy. I look forward to getting to know you all and getting some of the wonderful support from this group. I'll post whenever I can.
I told Debbie I'd be posting soon because my scales were going to wrong way. Well, I'm happy to report they dropped those pounds they thought I had put on. This WOE will take time, and discipline, but I want it to work because I want to play with grandchildren someday. And I want to see my son blast off to Mars! That's his goal, he's in his second year at Annapolis, and I want to be there when he reaches it.
Nice meeting you all.
Jeanie

Evening Gals:wave:
Thought I'd get in a post before I hit the bed early. Eli is working late, so no sense of me staying up. Mixed up some of the falafel mix for him to make when he gets home. That's what I had for dinner-and instead of frying them like I have been, I made one patty the size of about a hamburger and wiped the pan with a little oil-it was DELICIOUS!!!! I'll be making them that way for myself from now on!:)
The Fearn BRAN MUFFINS are in the oven and should be done soon-they are looking good-hope they taste good-will let you know, by the end of the post I should probably have one scarfed down!;)
CATLOVER, hope the rains are subsiding for you! Can't be fun to have the power out for 5 hours, esp. if it's hot and you're home. In my area, we have power outages a lot, but it's usually just for a split second-which really stinks when it comes to the appliances-Michael's TV went out after a surge last week, then another surge miraculously brought it back to life over a week later! Good luck with your exercise goals-let us know how you are doing!
BEE, sounds like you ended up having a pleasant day-glad to hear that. She has to realize that men come and go and that family is forever. Just keep working at it and hopefully she'll see the light. As for the SB BOOK, I would think you could order it easily from AMAZON.COM or a site similar. But do check your library for Michael Montigacs book, or surely they must have The Glucose Revolution by Jennie Brand-Miller, who's from Australia. I found a website in Australia that has the SB BOOK, maybe you can see if that's easy to order from, here's the link: http://www.bookworm.com.au/bookworm/ It definitely helps to have the book and to be able to understand the concept behind this WOE. As for SB LEGAL FOODS, you really shouldn't have to order much of anything to follow this WOE, but I'm sure there are places in NZ that would have some of the things either locally, or to order. Check out this site-maybe you can e-mail this lady and see where she buys the JoknAl since she lists it on her site: http://www.lowcarbnz.4t.com/products.htm and here's the site for the JoknAl, http://www.joknal.co.nz/ maybe you can contact them directly. Hope this helps a bit!!
FLY, yes, we have heard the news about the little boy and the shark-it's big news down here in Fl with all the shark bites we've had here in recent weeks-but luckily, none of ours resulted in death. I can't believe you took/take your kids there. We too live near water, but we never have taken the kids to the beach, always worried about something bitting them or the rip tides, they want to swim, they can go to the pool. So feta cheese, huh! We eat quite a bit of it in our house. Try this, chop some up, add some chopped onion, chopped tomato and a little olive oil and scoop some up on pita bread, or split the pita in half, put some of this mixture on it and bake it-yummy!!!!
JRED, I guess I can ignore your e-mail now, can't I! I see you made it on the boards, and with that, I give you a resounding WELCOME!!!:D Glad you finally decided to join our wonderful and friendly group of gals. You are doing this WOE for the right reasons, to be healthier and happier for now and the future, not for a particular upcoming party. You will find being patient will pay off. Don't worry about what the scale says (easy for me to say than to take my own advice at times), but as long as you stick to being OP, you WILL be rewarded in time. It's been a long road for me but it's gone by fast, and I don't think I will ever get to the end of any road as this is a life-long commitment to this WOE, not a diet that I look forward to going off of one day. Don't hesitate to ask any questions whatsoever, we're all happy to help each other out any way we can. I'm sure I can speak for the rest of the group in saying that we are happy to have you a board!!!!
Okay gals, the muffins are out. Honestly, I've never eaten a bran muffin before, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it's not bad at all-definitely edible! NOW, to find it around my parts-this one came from Nance's neck of the woods. I guess I'll be able to find it once I start searching, not that I will make it all that often.
Finished the book I recommended, SLOW BUT SURE, again, I recommend you seeing if you can find it at your library, it's an easy read and worth a few hours of your time to read it if you like to read.
Again, a reminder that tomorrow starts the new board and a new week!
Nite!
