Hello!

I wanted to start a thread particularly for pregnant and nursing mamas to record their food journals, and their daily exercise. Maybe if we do this we can stay better motivated to making healthier choices and staying active during this most important time of our lives.

Please share!

Nursing here.

No way I can do this every day, but I can start by putting in yesterdays.

Exercise was 5 miles in the park, 2 jogging, the rest walking, with about 1/2 mile uphill.

Meals:

Breakfast - 1 egg, 1/2 of a whole wheat mini bagel with light strawberry cream cheese, and 8 oz. light black cherry yogurt

Snack - a handful of shelled peanuts while walking (what the squirrels didn't get in the park)

Lunch - Subway wrap with turkey breast and cheese

Snack - 1 cup of grapes and 1 string cheese

Dinner - 1 cup of chicken salad made with soy mayo and 2 slices of toasted whole wheat bread and 1/2 cup of grapes

Snack - large slice of watermelon

Just finished 15 minutes on the stair stepper and going to Curves this evening for today's exercise BTW. And breakfast this morning was 1/2 cup of oatmeal and the other half of that bagel with the light strawberry cream cheese.

Awesome I will post here too. Right now I still have morning sickness (throughout the day) so I eat kind of sparatically. Thanks for the thread.

Maybe this can get me motivated. I've totally gone back to old eating habits. Already gained back the weight I had lost.

I had a C-section 2.5 weeks ago and was just given the go-ahead from my doctor yesterday to begin taking walks. So that's where I'm starting from. I took a nice long walk w/both kids (double stroller) yesterday. They enjoyed it a lot. So walking will be part of my regimen until I hit the 6-week mark. Then I want to start strengthening my abs a little. Then a few weeks after that I want to begin belly dancing again!

As for food, I don't have a plan per se, except to not binge (that's my main problem), to incorporate more natural foods into my diet (fruits, vegetables) and to keep to 3 meals a day plus 1 snack if I'm really hungry. So far the pg weight is coming off eating like this.

p.s. I didn't gain 82 lbs. during my pregnancy. :D I know it looks that way from my ticker. My ticker is based on the weight I was before I got pregnant with my second son. I never lost the weight between my second and third sons.

Sigh. Don't feel bad, Donna (and every time I see your username, I want to go out & buy the new Robert Jordan novel; but I'm waiting for it to come out in paperback!), I haven't got any motivation either. And I don't have the excuse of being pregnant. Rob is getting out of the Navy and we are moving back to Texas, but we've only got the vaguest idea of when all of this is going to happen, so I'm having a hard time caring. I should care, though! I can't help but think I should be all het up about losing weight so I can really wow the folks who haven't seen me in about two years...But I'm too worried to care about anything. :(

Aphil, I know you did this in another thread on 3FC, but can you give a quick recommendation of a bellydancing video for the uncoordinated among us? Please! (Preferably one the older two kids can dance along with somewhat; though I don't honestly expect much form from them right now they love "ekkercizing" with me.)

I would like a quick recommendation for belly dancing too!

As far as the exercise goes....it has been like nothing since I found out I was pregnant (a week ago) I have morning sickness on and off all day and I am super tired all the time so I just lack the motivation! Sounds like an excuse to me. I need to get back in the groove somehow even though I am so tired. It is hard too because before if I was super tired I would have coffee or something, but now I cant do that!
Im not doing bad with the eating, except a bit more ice cream then usual. I have only gained one pound back, but I will be careful!
YOu ladies are great!

I was eventually able to do some prenatal yoga my last pregnancy. :) Nothing more energetic than that, though. I have the "Prenatal Yoga Deck", I got it at Barnes & Noble. I've used it a few times after having Esther too, and the older ones are now constantly trying to do yoga (toddler yoga's almost a contact sport :lol3: )

My diet yesterday was:

B~banana
1/2c. 1% milk
1c. high protein/high fiber cereal

L~black beans and rice
1c. raw blueberries

S~Prenatal nutrition bar (sorta like an energy bar for pregnant ladies)

D~sandwich of toasted whole grain bread, Egg Beaters, and ham
small side of fresh pineapple and red grapes

S~1 raw peach
sliced raw strawberries
yogurt

Total calories: 1890 (a little low today...)

Other than the calories being about 150 low today, it was a pretty good day yesterday.

This past week has been a really busy one for exercise. :) I have been really busy, so I didn't have time to post each day.

Monday 7/3= taught a 1 hour belly dance beginning class

Tuesday 7/4=off, due to holiday festivities

Wednesday 7/5= we went to Ohio to the WRight Patton Air FOrce museum (yay rah...but DH wanted to go-he has been on vacation this week. ) I ended up walking about 1 1/2 miles at least through the museum and hangars.

Thursday 7/6=day off due to soreness from yesterday's long car trip to Ohio

Friday 7/7= We took the kids to the Indianapolis zoo and walked about 2 miles there. In the evening, we walked up to the video store and back to rent movies-and the walk there and back is pretty much exactly a mile-so I walked about 3 miles yesterday. :)

(Today) Saturday 7/8= I will post back after I get my exercise in. :)

I went for a walk around the neighborhood last night with my DH...I didn't keep track of the approximate mileage-we were too busy chatting. :)

Today we are going to see a movie, and I will be exercising this evening-so I'll post back. :)

I go to a local park. It's posted that it's 255' short of one mile if you do the entire circle pathway around the park. I'm up to running it non-stop about 2 1/4 the way around, so I call it at 2 miles. Then there's the uphill direction, about the same distance, going around the tennis courts. I walked that hill twice today, ran the usual 2 1/4 laps and walked an additional 2 laps.

I've been kind of lax with my diet in the past week. When I went to my weight watchers meeting I was told that since I am pregnant I wouldn't be able to follow the ww plan and would have to wait till after the baby is born and I get clearance from my doctor. I haven't felt like exercising at all this past week. I did walk a couple of times this past week, just not as much as I would have liked. I have been so very tired and the morning sickness lasts all day! I have a question for everyone though............I have been eating oatmeal for breakfast most mornings, on the mornings that I do eat the oatmeal I get really nauseated and stay that way most of the day. Has anyone had this happen to them? Anyway, I'm getting back on track starting tomorrow with eating right and exercising. Having somewhere to post what I am eating will be a big help. Thanks for starting this thread.:smug:

Suzette, I found myself drawing away from exercise too when I was pregnant. That prompted me to join Curves. I went with the thought that if I'm paying, I'm going. So it kind of forced my hand to get in my exercise. Try a membership somewhere if you can swing it, to help get you through pregnancy.

As for the oatmeal, do other breakfast foods have the same effect? Try something different and see if it helps.

For myself today, I did my 2 mile run, took the hill twice and did another 2 laps walking, then walked the 5 city blocks down to Subway for lunch.

So far today I've had 1 package of instant oatmeal with raisins and vanilla Silk poured over it, and a turkey and ham wrap at Subway. Don't know what I'm doing for dinner tonight, but there'll be a salad with it.

So far today i have had: English muffin w/egg sub., cheese and ham; carrots; ham and turkey sand w/cheese and a salad; an apple; some donuts(i know, not very healthy, but oh so good). Haven't had dinner yet, so not sure what we are going to do yet.

Only time i get nauseated is with the oatmeal. WHen I eat other things for breakfast I'm fine. Really weird in my opinion.

I do have a membership to Bally's, just not motivated right now to go. I know it will help me feel better, however I am just so darn tired. Maybe I should go early in the morning instead of in the evening, what do ya'll think?

I actually contemplated a membership between Bally's and Curves. Curves won out because...well...I'd join Bally's mostly for the treadmill, cause I want to run. But at that point, I wasn't able to run anymore. And I knew that I wouldn't be motivated to go. With Curves, it was just 30 minutes, and there were other gals there to talk to while working out. So it kinda made it fun...and fast...so I could get in, out and on with my day. So the Curves membership won out. If you're demotivated with Bally's for similar reasons, try to find something that will motivate you. With me, I opt for a fast workout. Didn't want something that took up too much of my day. That's also why I like to run...get it done quicker. So Curves took care of the quick part that Bally's would not have done.
