Welcome to McSkinney's Loozing Floozies!

We're a group dedicated to motivating each other through our daily diet/exercise/life struggles and just "being here" for one another!

Anyone is welcome to join us in our conversations--the more the merrier!

We've been a slow group lately (talking at least  ), but please go back to thread #77 and play catch-up! Even when we're slow we're still H-O-T!!!

Just making sure I don't lose you guys! I'm sitting here, listening to a storm and putting up with the obnoxious puppy at my feet....and the 3 yr old daughter who has joined him under my desk. :)

Chris, I WISH I was listening to a storm!! Our farmers need the rain BADLY!!! I did crop inspections last Thursday and Friday and it was sad :( .

We need rain!
We need rain!

(That's my cheer for the day)

I'll do some sort of raindance for ya....how would that be??? The rain here is a very welcome site too. We've had a severe drought going here for the last few years. Scary stuff. Lots of wildfires in the mountains.

Tonight the girls are spending the night at my SIL's house. I have to work tomorrow and so does Kelly so that helps out alot. Of course I have planned a little evening for us without them. :D It's so hard to find "us" time that doesn't involve children. Heck its hard to find "me" time.

Gotta go....Check back later.

Chris, enjoy the evening without kids! We love them, but it sure is nice to get a break every so often.

Janice, I didn't realize you were so close to goal until I glanced at your ticker! GREAT JOB!

Linda, I bet it made you feel wonderful to be noticed by the pool. You should be proud of the weight you've lost.

Cheryl, we need rain here too but now it is harvest time. So if it rains, the farmers can't get into the fields. Do you have much wheat in your area? The wheat here is very poor this year. My brother said he should turn all of the ground over into CRP...it would probably make as much, if not more income by the time you figure, risk, fuel expenses, insurance etc. He has one circle of irrigation and it runs $1000.00 in fuel every time he runs a complete circle!

Suzy, did Tim get out of town? How is his finger?

Shelley, BIG HUGE HUMONGOUS HUGS TO YOU TODAY! LOVE YOU!

Off to mow today!!!!

Chris ~ I hope you had a nice quiet evening without the kiddos!

Shelley ~ We're here for you through good times and bad...vent, cry, scream or whatever!

Cheryl ~ I hope you get some rain! Our spring here was the driest I ever remember! We have had some rain the past few weeks, but I'm sure our water table is still low.

Gayle ~ Tim leaves tomorrow morning and will be home late Sunday afternoon. His finger is doing pretty good. We trimmed some trees the other night and he pulled it open a bit, so now it's sore again, but no signs of infection.

I'm mowing today too...just waiting for the grass to dry a bit first. Then I have pies to bake for tomorrow. The Parris Island Marine Corps Band is going to be in town for a parade here on Saturday (the famous Laurel Festival  ). Anyway the Masonic Lodge is feeding them while they are here and they asked me if I would be willing to make some pies for them. So between all that and getting Tim ready to leave Friday morning I'm going to be a busy girl today!

Have a good day everyone!

Hi everyone!

Shelley, scream, vent whatever, we are here!

Gayle and Suzy, have fun mowing! At least, you are outside, in the fresh air!

Cheryl, we have had all the rain, guess I was being stingy! We had flood warnings, hope you get some soon!

I have to work today and then have WW tonight. I hope I lost something this week! Yesterday we were with Rob's Mom for the day, so I should have lost, just for the tenseness I felt! that woman can be the nicest sweetest thing or the crabbiest crankiest thing around! Sometimes, I think she has to be twins and we never know which one is around on a given day! Also, on the way to work today, we are taking our one cat to the Vet. This cat is afraid of everything, so just catching her to get her in the crate is a comedy here!! Fun day ahead!

Hope you are all having a great day!

We have quite a bit of wheat, but most of our farmers have finished harvesting it (averaging about 65-70 bushels/acre :) ). Right now our cotton, beans, rice and milo (grain sorghum) are needing the rain. We have a lot of farmers with pivots, too, and you should see the difference in the crops that are irrigated!

What we're running into now is that our people who double crop soybeans behind wheat can't plant--which is cutting into their production projections. Of course, some of them are using the money they would've used to plant those beans to irrigate the ones they already have, so it's six of one, half-dozen of the other.

I've heard that the new farm bill is going to be "greener"--I guess that means they're going to try to 'push' more farmers out? Still haven't figured out for sure what that means (the "greener" part).

I feel for the farmers!! (and speaking of--- I wonder if our DAIRY FARMER'S WIFE ever lurks around!?!?!?!)

just had to say hi and let ya all know that last night was great without the little ones. We ate dinner at Johnny Carino's, took a little drive, came home and took the puppy for a walk...and all the other stuff couples do. Then I got up early with my hubby to clean the shop where he used to work. IT's a pain in the butt but its extra money a month.

I have my backpack loaded with healthy stuff and I'm off to work. Hope you all have a nice day. And Shelley, chin up...I'm with everyone else, SCREAM! VENT! We'll all listen....

Hi everybody,

I wish we would get a small shower here too. It's so hot in the south. The air just takes your breath away sometimes.

I have good news to report! I weighed in last night and lost another 3.4 pounds!!! :carrot: Over my half-way mark now! I can't believe how well I've done and managed to stick with it. You ladies have been a great inspiration to me! Thanks a million!

I might not post much but I do read and can relate to a lot of what everyone is going through. Hang in there!

Yes, it was good for my ego to be flirted heavily with at the pool! ;) He saw me later on that night when I was "dolled" up and about to go dancing! Nice to see his mouth drop open. :)

Thanks again!

Thanks, Ladies. I actually feel a little better. I ran a bit. I had the painter at school stop me and say to not take this the wrong way, but that I was a very attractive lady. I think he must have been high from the paint fumes!

Cheryl-Indeed, the farmer's wife is probably lurking. I miss her.

Debbi-Believe me, I can relate on the MIL issue. Just ask any of the ladies here. She is plain evil.

Janice-Thanks for the help!

Shelley....whooooo! You got an admirer. Doesn't that just make your day! I know it would make mine. I miss being looked at. Now I just get passed by. One of these days...I'm gonna be a skinny mama. Watch out world!

Okay...sorry not to include everyone but I have to get dinner going for the starving children. Hubby is working overtime because the routing people at Sears can't seem to get their stuff together. So hopefully I'll see him in not too long.

Linda, congrats on the half way mark! YIPPEEE!!!!

Debbi, congrats to you too! Your back on track!

Shelley, an artist can see things most people do not take the time to see. You are an awesome person in mind, body and soul. I better tell Mike to watch this guy though.....hmmmm....I can just hear Shelley telling us she is modeling for the nude painting class! Did I make you laugh???? :-)

Chris, sounds like hubby puts in some long hours. What kind of business do you guys have?

I ran the push mower for 4.5 hours today and burned lots of calories!!! THEN, Steve & I decided a night out. After the Chinese buffet, I think I should of mowed 12 hours! We then went to see the Davinci Code. It was an OK movie, not exactly what I expected. Have any of you seen it?

Cheryl, my brother is getting 20-30 on his irrigation and the dry land is only doing around 15/acre.

ShelleyM
06-16-2006, 05:35 AM
Gayle-Becky saw the movie twice. She really liked it. Patty thought it was just okay. Since we are Jewish, we really don't know the complete story of Christ, so Patty wasn't too sure on the story.

Debbi-WTG on the WI. I am so happy to have company over at the exercise thread, even though I haven't been there all that much.

Mike put my new shiny sink and faucet in the kitchen. I love it. It sure beats the other one that was so messed up from our water.

Gayle, I saw the DaVinci Code and enjoyed the movie. I liked that they didn't stray far from the book, just left some things out. I was pleasantly surprised at Tom Hanks. I know he is an amazing actor, but I just didn't see him in the role, but he pulled it off!
Four and a half hours with a push mower! WOW!

Shelley, I was so excited when we got the new faucet put in the kitchen sink! I kept going and standing by it! Now we have a new one in the one bathroom and will be redoing the full bath this summer, so I will have more "toys"! Enjoy yours!
Hope you are feeling better!

Linda, half way! WTG!!

Good Morning Everybody,

TGIF!! So glad this week is finally over and I'm headed for a 3 day weekend. My DD is going on Monday for her first ultrasound. She's wanting to see what sex the baby is going to be. I'm going too cause I'm nosey! :D

Worked last night and we weren't too busy. I was good and stayed away from those darn HUGE malted milk balls! Those are my weakness. I work part-time at a coffee shop and we sell cakes, candy, sandwiches, and coffee. Thank goodness most of that is NOT my weakness! I do sneak a taste every once in a while though.

Shelley - way to go on the compliment! :carrot: People never see themselves as they truely are. So just smile and think "I'm one HOT MAMA!" I know I'm still stuck in that "I'm a fat butt" mode and it surprises me when I am paid a compliment. I just know that when I take my clothes off I still see the fat rolls, the stretch marks, and the "hail damage (cellulite)" that no one else sees. I'm just wondering how long it's going to take me to get out of thinking like that.

Has anyone else discovered that since you are more active now that you've lost weight, do you do things that you wouldn't normally do when you were heavier? I'm trying to branch out of my normal every day things and it's been fun but scary! I'm going this weekend to a casino in Mississippi to hear a band I've never heard of. Dr. Zarr's Funkmonsters! :dizzy: They are from Memphis, TN and are a 70-80's disco band (yeah, I'm telling my age here) and they dress up in the clothing worn in that time era! Should be interesting.

Y'all have a great Friday! I'll check in later!

Gayle...my husband works for Sears as an Appliance Tech. and we have our own appliance business too. He finally got hold of his district manager last night who let him go at 6:30. He didn't have to finish the last 4 calls he had on his route for the day. I do most of the bookwork for our business and work part time for my dad and stay at home with the kids the rest of the time.

Hey all. What is on the agenda for the day? I'm going to just work on my calorie intake and drinking lots of water. I still plan on babying my knee today. I just don't know what I did, but it pulls on the left upper side of my knee and the lower side on the right and it feels like there is fluid in there. It's swollen too. So anyhow...today is just going to be an at home day doing laundry and I think I'll just clean up the kitchen and be done with things.

Check back in a bit.

Shelley ~ I'm glad you're feeling better and posting! It just wouldn't be the same without hearing from you everyday...good mood or not!

Gayle ~ You win the mowing contest! I only pushed for 2 1/2 hours. Too bad riding doesn't burn more calories...I rode for 3 hours.

I saw the DaVinci Code and thought it was a really good movie! Tom Hanks was wonderful!

Linda ~ Congratulations on making it to your half way point! Have a great time this weekend!

Debbi ~ Way to go on the weight loss! You are definetly on the right track now! :carrot:

Chris ~ It must be handy having an "in-house appliance repairman"! Seems like there is always an appliance that needs work around here...right now it's my oven.

Janice ~ I'm glad that you check in even when you don't have much to say!

Cheryl ~ What's your weather forecast look like? Any rain in the near future? It looks like it's going to act like summer here this week...upper 80's for us! :sunny:

Any special plans for Father's Day? I'm having my mom and dad over. I'm not sure what to cook. I'd appreciate any ideas you might have. I was going to do spaghetti, but I called Mom and they were having it when I called on Wednesday. They don't ever eat beef at home, and I was thinking about having steak (Mike's favorite,) but with the sky high price of good cuts right now and the lack of $$, I would rather have something else.

Pray for me, ladies! Mike had an interview yesterday and it went well. He is supposed to find out something on Monday. They had one more person to interview after him.

Janice-You are doing so great with your weight. I'm so proud of you.

Dee-Enjoy the sunshine and your pool

Gayle-I am still in need of motivation for getting back on Core. I have starting eating animal crackers as my before bed snack, and really enjoy them. They aren't Core friendly, though. My WI this morning was 131. Ack!! I just can't back into counting the Flex points either. Maybe after this depression I'm having lightens up I'll be able to cope with getting more OP.

We don't have any plans at all for Father's Day. Tim is out of town and won't be back until sometime late Sunday afternoon. I'm sure that he'll be ready for a home cooked meal after eating out all weekend, so I'll probably do something on the grill.

Shelley ~ What about grilled chicken breasts for your Father's Day dinner or maybe just an old fashioned picnic with burgers and hot dogs?

You know you're in my prayers and I'll be saying extras that this is the job for Mike! Please let us know as soon as you hear anything!

Dee ~ It sure is a lot of work getting settled after a move! How does Dez like her new place?

Rob is working tomorrow, so no plans for Father's Day. (We don't have kids anyway, just the cats, who did buy him a card!) I will be busy loading the new closet, now that it is all primed and painted! That is today and tomorrow's job as well as a mountain of laundry to tackle!

Dee, moving is the pitts! I moved in Dec. only across the street, but it was so much work, packing and unpacking! I did enjoy tossing a ton of junk we never us and don't need.

Shelley, chicken on the grill is a great idea for dinner. You could also do some grilled veggies and if you have space, even eat outside! Saying extra prayers for Mike!

Well I am going to go do an exercise tape and then start putting stuff away in the famous closet!

Wow you all sound busy. I can't say we have any real plans for Father's Day either. My dad took off on Wednesday for a fishing trip and he won't be home until tomorrow evening. We have to drive up to Harlow to get my oldest daughter and bring her back home. I know she doesn't want to, but if she wants to remain in competition dance, she has to come home for 6 weeks of summer classes. That will keep her and me busy until the end of July.

Shelley-wish I could help in the food suggestion dept. but I'm drawing a blank... The only thing I can think of and can't get off my mind because I want some are Chicken and Veggie ka-bobs on the grill.

Gotta go...Kayla wants to play a game on the computer and I need to get my butt outta my pajamas and get something done today.

C-ya,

Shelley, I like the burger/hot dog idea. Or if they like beef but never eat it, how about pepper steak prepared in the crockpot? If you crockpot it, you can use the cheaper cuts of meat and it will be tender. I usually get round steak then top with onion/green pepper/seasoning and let it simmer all day. Good by it's self or placed on top of noodles.

We are having my mom's 80th birthday party tommorrow with family. I suprised her with an announcement in the local paper for a card shower. Her BD isn't until Wednesday, but she has already received several cards.

Chris, have a safe trip!

Debbi, enjoy the new closet!

Suzy, I hope Tim makes it back in time to enjoy his fathers day.

Dee, did you get Dez all moved & unpacked?

Linda, if I worked in a coffee shop with all those goodies, I would be rolling instead of walking.

Shelley, sending Mike GOOD LUCK VIBES! They say it is better to interview towards the last so you will be better remembered.

I liked the Davinci Code, just different then I expected. I thought it was going to have scenes related to biblical times. I love Tom Hanks!

Have a great weekend girls!

I decided just to go ahead and do the spaghetti, since they never have it with meat sauce. I got my dad and Mike a USF hat. Becky is going to take Mike out for dinner next week, and Patty got him a dvd.

I have actually been cleaning. I cleaned both bathrooms, but they both need total remodeling. I might peel the wallpaper off mine and paint on my vacation. Paint isn't all that expensive, and my bathroom is very small. The new vanity will have to wait.

Gayle-Tell your mom happy birthday from your friend in Fl. I'm sure the party will turn out terrific.

I need to stop eating carbs. I feel my legs and thighs expanding. I am going to try for 10 again today, I did go yesterday, but my heel has been hurting all night. I'm not sure if I can make it or not. I might change to biking for awhile, if I can get Mike to dig out 1 of the bikes from the shed.

Hey all..how was Father's Day? Of course, dh decided to start yet another project...landscaping the front yard. We still haven't got the house finished with the painting. I don't know what to do. I'm gonna have to paint as much as I can this week. Kelly is just gonna have to buck up and do the high spots for me. I hate ladders and I hate heights but I'm not about to let the house be unfinished all summer. That drives me nuts to have all these things uncompleted.
But it has been a great day. The kids fought some but that's about normal around here anymore.

Talk to you tomorrow.

We had a nice Father's Day. I made the spaghetti. We gave my dad and Mike both USF hats. I am going to Tampa on Friday with my parents to celebrate my SIL's mom's 80th birthday. She's having a party on Sat. We will be coming back on Sat. I hope I can fit into something!

Good weekend here. Got most of the closet back together and even ironed the things that needed ironing! Everything that is in the closet right now, I can actually grab and wear! IF it doesn't fit, or needs mending or something, I am not putting it back in. So project is taking forever!
Sunday we went to see the movie, "The Break Up". It was ok. Not my favorite, but a good movie for a hot day, and in the air condtioned theater!
We also bought a new vacuum. The purple Dyson, the animal one. What a great cleaner! I feel like I am doing an infomercial, but I love that thing! I hate to vacuum, but that is one great cleaner! I have no idea how, but it really gets the cat fur off the couch!

gdeann
06-19-2006, 08:34 AM
Debbi, when I was in the market for a vacuum, I priced the Dyson. At that time I was just going off of product reviews and not word of mouth. Happy to hear it lives up to its promises. I purchased the Hoover Fusion, which at that time was the younger "less advanced", cheaper version of the Dyson available at Walmart. It has been a good vacuum for the money.
Would you like to come clean my closets? Sounds like you ventured into quite a chore!

Shelley, I'm glad you guys had a good Fathers day! Sending vibes to Mike today that he hears back about the job. Have fun in Tampa! I bet SIL's mom will be thrilled to see you on her 80th!!

Yesterday was a busy day! We had church early in the A.M. then we went to the cemeteries to place flowers on both of the graves since it was Fathers day. Then home for lunch and to prepare for the party! It went off without a hitch!! We had brisket, BBQ sausages, pasta salad etc. My Aunt makes the most AWESOME HOMEMADE mac & cheese ever! She brought a huge baking pan of it and almost all of it was gone. We then finished out the evening with a cake & ice cream. Soooooooooo.....needless to say, I did not stay on plan! Mom had fun and enjoyed the evening and that was my main concern. I wanted her to feel special and remember her 80th birthday.

Well, off to by puppy food before our special one with a special diet starves because I am completely out and she is missing her designated feeding time! She is underfoot as I type! She thinks just as soon as I'm up out of bed, I should be feeding her. Then on to the bank and countless other errands.

Hope you have a great day!

Linda, if I worked in a coffee shop with all those goodies, I would be rolling instead of walking!

When I first went to work there, I don't know how much weight I gained. It was horrible! But I got tired of being the only fat person that worked there so I decided to do something about it.

I'm OK with the things there now. It's become a challenge to me to see if I can resist temptation. So far it has been working great and I've managed to get rid of the weight so far.

So happy for you Shelley, what great news!! Wishing Mike (and you) all the best!

I have been busy putting the closet together. Looks great and is wonderful to be able to see all our clothes and know what is in there. Everything has a place. I do have more shoes than anyone I know, and am having a bit of a problem finding space for all of them! I did get rid of three pair already, which for me, is a major thing!
Still loving the new vacuum! I can't believe how well it works!

Chris, I know what you mean about starting projects. We moved the beginning of Dec and this place needed so much work. We knew some of the problems when we moved in but as we went along, we discovered more and more problems. So we have been living in a construction zone since then. The end is in sight. I will actually miss my handyman when he isn't coming around every evening anymore! He is part of the family after all this time! Hope you get some projects finished, Chris! Good luck painting! Wish I lived closer, I love to paint! Just can't do ceilings.

Gayle, sounds like a really special birthday for your Mom! Hope you got your errands done!

Hope everyone else is having a great day!

Shelley ~ That is the best news I've heard in a long time! I'm so happy for you and Mike!

Debbi ~ I know how much you are looking forward to having a place for everything and everything in its place! Hang in there...it won't be long now and you will be able to just sit back and enjoy your new house without all the dust and construction!

Gayle ~ It sounds like your mother's birthday party turned out perfectly! I'm sure she really appreciated all the work that you put into planning her special day.

Linda ~ I read somewhere once that losing weight is like trying to learn how to ride a bike. You can put training wheels on and just half way do it, but you really can't learn how until you take the training wheels off, get on and make up your mind that you ARE going to do it. That's the hardest part! Sounds like you have made up your mind that you ARE going to lose this weight and that is what keeps you out of the goodies at work. Good for you!

Chris ~ How is the painting coming?

Dee ~ You really need to start thinking about a wireless hookup for your laptop so you can type from the pool house!

Tim got home earlier than expected on Sunday, so we ended up spending the afternoon with Tim's dad and step mom and then took them out to dinner at Applebee's. It was a nice day.

CONGRATS TO MIKE!!! YIPPPPEEEEEEE!!!! I KNEW HE WOULD GET IT!!!!! I hope you can start resting easier now Shelley. Maybe the reduced stress from Mike finding a job will help you feel better too.

Suzy, I'm glad you were able to share the better part of Fathers day with Tim.

Debbi, your house sounds like it is looking really nice! You love to paint??? Must be those paint fumes getting to you girl! LOL!

Chris, did you get your painting done? I am scared of heights too.

Linda, you have did a great job resisting temptation at the coffee shop. I love donuts, but I also know the smell really gets to me if I walk into a donut shop. It is way too sweet and sickening. Maybe it can be the same way working around other sweets and goodies so much.

Where oh where is our little Cheryl??? Dee is at the pool I'm sure! Janice? Everyone else? Did ya all forget us???

I work today, then home to start preparing for our trip. We will leave Thursday around 4:00 in the morning so you guys won't hear from me then until late Monday night or Tuesday sometime. I need to go get the stuff so tomorrow we can make jello shots. It's juvenile, but everyone gets a kick from them. Last year we made about 150 of them, filling a huge cooler, they were gone by the 2nd day.

Shelley, I know that is a load off of your mind with your hubby getting this job. My ex worked construction and he traveled a lot and it always was stressful when he was between jobs. That was enough to depress me and I always ate whenever I was feeling depressed. I must have been depressed a lot! ;)

FYI group- We didn't even get to touch the painting. :( Of course, when you have all these BIG plans, the weather won't cooperate. ARRGGHHH!

I had to work yesterday so I walked for 20 min. during my breaktime and then went to the gym last night and did another 40 there. Amazing for me lately!

Sorry so short but my sis will be here shortly to drop of her kiddos. Check back later, when I feel a bit overwhelmed and ready to pull my hair out. :D

Just popping in to say HI to all my friends.

Shelley I am so glad that Mike got the job. I am sure that there is alot less stress in your house now. Do you think this job is better than the other job he had?

Gayle I remember those jello shots you made last year. Boy would I love to come and party with you. Have an awesome weekend. I will be thinking of you because Country Fest is my kind of party.

Suzy you are right about a lap top for the pool house. I have thought of it. If I had that I wouldn't be so quiet here. That's where I am heading now.
I just can't miss the nice days.

Sorry I didn't post a personal message to you but my Royal Prince will be home for lunch and I wouldn't want to keep him waiting for his Princess.

Love you all.

Great job Lynneye!!! I am so looking forward to the day I can fit into a size 12 again. Still hanging in the 18s that are too big and the 16s that are too darn tight. I hate this in between stuff.

I got some painting done today. All the lower windows are done with the primer. I just need one more coat of white on the front ones and the side windows and then I can start in on the windows in the back of the house. I got some of the carport done too. I might paint later but I think I get extra children this afternoon sooner than I expected.

Tonight I'm going to the gym with my sister again. We're doing it later at night so as not to disrupt the family schedule. Looks like I killed mine anyhow. Hubby needed to go out of town on a service call and wanted to do it tonight. We'll see what happens.

:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: WOO HOO!!!! Way to go! I know that is a good feeling. I'm stuck in between a 10 and a 12. I can get into a 10 jeans in some brands but it makes breathing difficult! ;)
