Quick question for everyone. As I said in my last post I am new to Insulin Resistance, having been diagnosed last week. My doctor has reccomended that I start meeting with a nutritionist who specializes in diabetes and IR every week. Has anyone else had this reccomended to them? Would it be worth the money to visit with them once a week?

I haven't ever been to a nutritionist but I'm sure that meeting with them at least once or twice would be beneficial until you learn how to eat to help your IR best.

I didn't go every week but I went and she was very helpful. showing me why the choices of food I was making were the wrong ones. Even stuff I thought was healthy, was workign against me having IR. I don't know how often is normal for going but I did find it helpful!

I was and went. Very helpful. Although I do not go weekly. I went for 2 sessions (all that was required for me) :goodluck:

I would think a session or two would be enough to get you going on the right track. I never went to one, but read a lot. I follow Sugarbusters which is good for IR and Diabetes. I was IR for years, and was not careful with my diet the past year, and am now diabetic. Its worth taking steps to control it before it becomes diabetes.

I have not seen a nutritionist, my hepatologist who diagnosed the IR just told me to get on a low-carb diet and that this would help. Plus, put me on glucophage.
