Veggie Challenged - Green Peppers

Okay I have a question, not sure if this is the right spot to ask or not, if it isn't I suppose it will be moved. ;)
Do any of you have a hard time eating Green Peppers? They just don't taste as good and make me burp a lot after eating them? Now I know its only their color, but I only have a hard time eating the Green ones, not the Red, Yellow or even Orange. Red Peppers are my absolute fav, just was wondering if anybody else had the same issue?

It's not only their color. Green peppers are much more bitter than those that have ripened to red or yellow. Once they ripen, they're much sweeter. Reds are my favorite too. They're good just by themselves. :)

Thanks and that makes sense then! I just have a very hard time eating the greens. The Reds are just so Sweet and yummy and yes I could eat those by themselves too!:T

I'm the same way. Green are pretty icky, unless you cook them a good long time so they caramelize a little bit, bringing out their natural sugaryness. Yellow, Orange, and Red are fabulous, though.
Its definitely not just the color.

i love green peppers w/ splenda sprinkled on them for a crunchy snack. i don't like red peppers raw, only cooked. i think green peppers just taste better raw for some reason? :dizzy:

I can eat Green Peppers if they are cooked and have something with them, but raw and alone I just have a difficult time. Red Peppers I can eat either way........:drool:

Green peppers are one of the only vegetables I actively dislike and avoid. Red, orange and yellow peppers are great!
I like all sweet peppers, regardless of color, raw or cooked :)

I can eat green peppers (raw or cooked), but I know a lot of people have problems with them.

I would have to agree with all the posts above- I do buy them and cut them up for a good ole stir fry or one of my favorite recipes- is to stuff them with RIce a Roni Spanish rice (cooked according to package), top them with lowfat cheddar cheese and bake for a half hour at 350 degrees. I eat them with lowfat sour cream and salsa- very yummy, half a pepper stuffed with half a cup of rice fills you up!

I read somewhere that some people are sensitive to whatever it is in green peppers that make them taste bitter - it's genetic - and some people don't detect it. I wish I could remember the details. I personally find them very bitter, but love red bell peppers.
