I am about there when it comes to having my WLS. Just waiting on the letter from my GP to the Surgeon. Then have to wait for the insurance process. But of course I waited all this time and did all the visits and I was offered a job. Just to make matters worse, I cannot take time of from this job for four months. I don't know if after all I have been through it is worth it to me to wait the extra time. I am considering talking to the job recruiter and asking if I could wait that long. Maybe if one of the 20 people they are hiring doesn't work out. I will have to fib to my husband though and tell them I wasn't selected for the job. It isn't that I need to work, he just likes me to keep busy.

Anyone have any thoughts. I guess this is what they call venting!

Ophelia, what a dilema you're facing. I'm sad to hear you feel so boxed in a corner on this situation. I don't know what your history is but I understand your needing to prioritize YOURSELF. And its ok for you to do that.

Yes, talking to the job recruiter may be very wise when you know its a go. Or just plain so you feel you're being honest about where you're at and about what your needs are. The part about 'fibbing' to your dh because he likes to keep you busy?????? Can you consider telling him this will allow you to be a 'busy, productive and content woman' for the rest of your life if you can prioritize yourself and your health at this moment? Especially if your decision around this job isn't financially driven.

Ophelia, I know a lady whose husband told her he would divorce her if she had the surgery. She did it anyway. He didn't divorce her. She swears it saved her life. He's very proud of her now.

I talked to the recruiter yesterday and she informed me that there is a position that is starting in August that will require a person with the same qualifactions. She said if I am called and offered a position to let them know what I would also be insterested in the other job. If it is agreed upon I could then start at the end of August instead of the beginning of July.

Congratulations. That must be one huge relief and another step along the road to feeling like obstacles are being set aside for you.

When will you see the surgeon for the first time?
