Default How long before you stalled?

I know that I need to be patient and that stalls happen, but I am wondering how long before most of you hit your first stall. I did not expect it to happen this soon! It is a bit frustrating. I know I need to exercise more, but my eating is right on target. Is this abnormal? How often do you find that you stall and for about how long? This is the point (well, this or PMS) when I usually give up... but I am DETERMINED to keep going this time. I hit 30 days of abstinence today and I am pumped! However, it would be nice if the scale would move too

5/1 245
5/2 244.5

I probably should not be weighing every day, but I just can't break that habit! Normally, it keeps me inspired to keep going... but now I am finding it a bit irritating. Maybe it is time to break another habit

Well, you're definitely not stalled yet! That's a nice, steady, reasonable loss there. Congrats!

My first stall (before I got pg) was when I had gone from 175 to 152...at 152 I stalled.

waterwater & Hungry2live, you both have a great weight loss performance!!

I am just able to tell you my personal expiriences. I used to weigh daily for a very long time. But I donīt do that anymore. Now I weigh weekly- and I choose a day in the week when I am feeling pretty *light* in the morning. The weigh changes from day to day- a bit up, a bit down...And that drove me nuts.
There are two reasons for me:
1. Our scale isnīt so precise: just kg, no grams and not digital. You really have to loose more than one pound to notice it.
2. My weigh in the morning depends on several factors: what kind of food I ate in the evening, how much water I had the evening/night, if I already *visited the bathroom* or not, hormons, already a cup of coffee or not....

Was that useful- maybe not. I just wanted to state that it maybe would be better to try not to weigh that often. You can try it for a week or so, if it doesnīt function go back to weighing daily. Just my opinion.

I am sorry - I probably should have explained further. This is my FIRST MONTH of weight loss. I have made extreme changes.... no more king size candy bars or 2-liters of Coke each day. I am eating healthy meals and ONLY eating at meal time. I realize that I lost quickly the first couple of weeks - it was because of the changes and 'water weight'. The part in red is the part that I am most concerned about. I lost quickly and then nothing. For 11 days I have gained and lost the same two pounds. I went from losing to GAINING a pound last week That is why I am concerned.

Two of you said that this is not a stall. Please tell me what I can call this? When you are working hard to lose weight and it the scale pretty much stays the same for almost two weeks -- what can you call that? I suppose I am using the wrong terminology???

Hungry! Oh my goodness! You have been like this for even longer! Hugs to you! I hope that it breaks soon. I have been binge free too (which is MAJOR) and that makes it all the more frustrating. WHY did it stop? Maybe someone will have some info for us

Thanks Kate! I really need to break that habit!

Okay. Technically, the definition of a stall as I understand it is three weeks at the same weight.

I understand your frustration. I am right there with you (when not pregnant, anyway) with doing a thousand things to bring weight down, only to see ONE tiny pound drop off in a matter of weeks. I've been brought to tears by this many times, trust me. When I looked at your numbers, though, although you had a small jump back "up," the general trend seemed to be downward. So that's why I had said I didn't think it was a stall.

I know how frustrating it is. I really do know. You feel like, "Jeez, what more can I possibly do?" All you CAN possibly do is continue with the eating habits you're currently on. If you're anything like me, all of a sudden one day you'll be down three pounds. Then stay there for a bit...but those three pounds will be gone forever. Then one day, another pound or two...slowly, slowly, slowly but surely.

I do feel your pain. I really do. It's enough to make a person scream. Hang in there.
