Weight Loss Surgery - I am considering lap band....and I have some questions

I am one of those people who has tried the diet and exercising, and has failed...MANY TIMES. So, now, i have approached my last resort. I have read up on the lap band procedure, and now, I just want to hear some things from actual people who have had it done.

Does it hurt?
Is recovery painful, or annnoying?
Is it worth it?
Does it work?
How much does it cost?

Does it hurt? - The first day was a B**ch, once I was home I only needed pain killers for one day. Some folks have very little if any pain and some experience more...everyone is different.

Is recovery painful, or annoying? - No, its not really painful, a little uncomfortable yes. I know folks who when shopping the next day, I didn't shop until 4 days out.

Is it worth it? - so far, yes.

Does it work? - yes but its not the cure, its a tool and you still have to watch your calories, you still have to make healthy choices or you an gain...its that simple. Some folks lose fast, some not so fast.

How much does it cost? - My insurance paid for it.
