View Full Version : Memorial Day Weekend

05-27-2006, 10:25 AM
Oh my....... I logged on fully expecting to be reading today's posts. Come out, come out, where ever you are my friends!!

Not one thing on our agenda and no place to be today. Yippee!! Big DD is still asleep as she has had non-stop playtime since Thursday. Her tent is set up in her room, so she slept in it last night. :)

Okay- everyone on their beach towels- let's get through this weekend on plan. We can do it!!!!!!!!! :coach: We only have a few more days to hit our May weightloss targets.

hey kiko, sure is a quiet beach today!

We've got nothing major here either-no travelling and I LOVE it. My boys and I are hitting the gym, then going berry picking, then they have gift certs for Chik Fil-A but it's not my fav so I don't mind just sittin with them not eating. When daddy gets home we might even head over to our pool. We live on a cul-de-sac right next to the neighborhood pool.

Oh yeah and we just bought a giant tv so we might be doing a lot of watching it this weekend:D

Morning Ladies! I have been gone a while, but it is nice to see familiar names still around! Already starting Memorial Day festivities today. My husband's research group is having a BBQ at the park, and I am being forced to attend on the first day of my re-start of phase 1! I will make it through, as long as I can avoid the alcohol. Enjoy the weekend all!

05-27-2006, 12:08 PM
Good Morning! I hope everyone does well this holiday on plan! I plan to ride it out and stick to it! I know everyone will do well! Hugs and lots of willpower for everyone!

05-27-2006, 12:37 PM
My plan to not leave the house was foiled when DD's toilet got stopped up and I couldn't find our plunger! A quick trip to Walmart and we are back home. :)

Bat Sounds like a perfect day with your guys. That is great that your husband gets home for family. I am getting a bit weary of my DHs restaurant hours. :(

Amelie and Erial Morning!

Okay- the bathroom is "simmering" in Scrubbing Bubbles and Clorox- off to scrub!

WOW it's slow today.... everyone must be busy.

Well, we had a busy weekend planned but both kids are sick. DS is running fever, has been since Thursday night. He doesn't have any other symptoms:?: DD woke up this morning complaining of an ear ache. So our plans to spend the weekend on the river are gone:( Oh well, there's plenty of summer still to come.

I'm ending Phase I this weekend but am considering extending it until Tuesday. It's easier to plan for the week than weekend. Funny that I"m just now getting cravings for sweets. It hasn't bothered me really until yesterday. Gotta fight it I guess.

I wont be back until Tuesday. I only get on the net at work, I don't have time or desire at home. So I'll see you chickies Tuesday!

Oh yea, I forgot to mention I've lost another pound!

Morning, gals! I just got back from helping out at Walking Den Leader training for summer camp. I meant to bring my tape measure to measure the picnic table so I may have to head out there again at some point. I'm getting nervous about not having enough staff for my area. The camp director isn't helping and I'm not having a lot of luck on my own.

I still can't transfer files to my new servers at work so I can't do any of that work. I'm going to try not to worry about it too much.

DH and Brian headed out for a model rocket launch that will last all day. It's a 2.5 hour drive each way so I've got the day to myself. Have fun, everyone!

Kiko-are his hours really bad? Dh's were with his last place, there were weeks when my kindergartner saw him for a total of 45 min all week. For the $$ he makes (not a ton, lol) it's not worth that kind of sacrifice.

Now his schedule is so good that we have been spoiled. The rug almost got pulled out last week, when they wanted to transfer him to a busier store 30 min farther...luckily he's that good that they want to keep him happy and he made it clear that not seeing his family does NOT make him they let him stay, phew...

hope your's settle for you soon and good luck wit the's always something with kids, lol

Good morning and good afternoon! My ISP was down this morning and I couldn't get on to anything. I went off to the greenhouse and then hosted for Open Doors and just got home now. Thanks for starting us up.

Now I have Dave from the Greenhouse arriving with my baskets and windowboxes so I have to scoot and supervise placement. For some reason, he thinks I'm strong enough to lift them around the greenhouse but can't manage at home!

Sounds like we are all haveing a busy weekend. Gorgeous sunny weather here for a change!

I am alive and my computer has been resurrected!!!!!

Have missed you all so much! Hard to stay on track when you don't have your support group. :( At least I haven't GAINED any weight. Haven't lost any either, but still. I haven't GAINED so that's a plus!

New job is fantastic! Things are so hectic over here. Need to catch up on my 391 new emails and stuff. Hope you all are fine!

05-27-2006, 08:58 PM
Welcome back, Weezle! You have been missed.

Well, we got tired of waiting on the SA and installed the IIS/ftp software ourselves so I've put in 4.5 hours today working. We're taking a break and picking it up again on Monday morning. I AM taking Brian and DH to the renaissance festival tomorrow morning!

05-27-2006, 09:46 PM
It's been a long but satisfying day working outside in the garden. I bought several pink mallow plants and some dwarf dark purple phlox to plant in front of them for a new bed along one side of our patio, and I got some fancy ferns to fill in some bare spots in the shade garden, and that just got me started moving some plants around, and dividing others, and on and on. Everything is really looking great now, and I'm so pleased with it. Jake spent most of the afternoon spreading playground mulch in the play area and boxed the entire area in with landscape ties, so he's been busy, too. We treated ourselves to dinner out as our reward, and I enjoyed a great meal of Chicken in Lettuce Wraps that was totally OP. Tomorrow I can just sit back and enjoy a lazy day before our big family cookout here on Monday.

 Weezle, and :welcome2: back! We sure did miss you!

Welcome back Weezle!! You have been missed.

Cottage Geez... and I was feeling proud of myself for getting out front and pulling some weeds. :) I don't have many flowers in our front flowerbed, but am hoping to add some more in the upcoming weeks.

Bat His hours seems really crazy since I work fulltime. So his days off are typcially during the week, and I am not home. The summers are great for us. He misses alot of what my older daughter is involved in since he works weekends. We make it work, but it isn't ideal. It has been a lot harder for me this past year since the baby was born. Thank heavens my mom lives close.

Good OP day here! I am getting up in the morning to begin my exercise program. Plan to just start with some good 'ole walking. :)

Have a good night- I rented The Family Stone- anyone seen it? DH is on his way home, so we can have an at home date night. June 2 is our anniversary, so we will have a real date night then. :val2:

05-28-2006, 08:57 AM
Weezle, welcome back.
Cottage, I'm glad you had a good gardening day. It's so satisfying!
Kiko, sounds like you are having a good OP weekend.
Barb, enjoy the Renaissance Fair or is it Faere?

This is a real quickie as I have to iron something cool to wear before I head to Church. After that I will finally have my wicker set up on the porch! It's going to be a hot day at last and I intend to do some porch sitting this afternoon with iced tea and some hand sewing.

The big news is that Miss Lucy will be coming home today. The pups are weaned at just over four weeks! They are eating ravenously and Lucy has closed the milk bar. This week they go for their shots and chips and then people start coming to see them. It'll be a busy time because prospedtive owners want to see the mother too. I can even show them the Grandmother!

Gotta dash. Enjoy your day.

05-28-2006, 10:30 AM
Morning Ruth! I also need to iron clothes for church- times three! I SO need some cute new clothes!!

Okay- I didn't cheat yesterday, just too much OP food. Like, I need to stick to the serving size for Triscuits. (Which is 7 crackers, not half the box!) My weight was up a bit this morning and I know exactly why!

DH fell asleep ready our daughter books last night- so much for the romantic movie watching and snuggles!

I am working on finances to see if we can road trip to Ohio this summer. My uncle is getting married on July 1, so we would like to drive up. We have loads of relatives in Ohio, so it would be great fun. The major expense would be gas and hotel each way as it is usually one picnic or bbq after another when we are there.

Baby is crying for me- she slept late this morning- gotta jet!!

05-28-2006, 11:36 AM
It's a beautiful Sunday morning here, warm and sunny! :sunny: Jake is gearing up to mow the lawn, then we're taking down the storm windows on the sunporch and putting the screens in the storm doors, too. Later I'm going to make some Cauliflower "Potato" Salad for tomorrow, and I think I'll make a Strawberry Yogurt "Pie", just so I'll be prepared with OP foods for tomorrow. My Mom & Dad are going to make homemade ice cream :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: , and that's going to be hard to resist! I can finally move my ticker down a bit, and I sure don't want to have to change it back up again!

Kiko ~ We're trying to squirrel money away, too, for our summer vacation. With the price of gas these days, it's a MAJOR expense! Go ahead and go, though, life is short, enjoy it while you have the chance!

Ruth~ Sounds like a lovely afternoon on the porch is planned. Better enjoy the down time now, you'll be busy keeping up with Lucy and her pups soon!

Hi Beachers

Sorry for the late start. Went out with my friends and I was going to have a hot dogs but I went for a B-L-T instead on sliced Italian Bread.

Didn't go near the tourist traps. We went to a local eatery that any the locals know about.Tonight we are going to have BBQ Chicken with Hawaiian Marinate on it and on the side lima beans Tomorrow we're having hamburgers & home made cucumber salad.Made the Italain Hazelnut Trifle[semi SB friendly] for tomorrows BBQ. Not going down to the Memorial Services tomorrow as Leo can't stand that long and he doesn't want to sit on a beach chair for the event. Our DD didn't call all week and we found out from her brother that they went to Hershey Theme Park for the holiday. Was she afraid that we would upject, that they didn't come up here to see us. Kids are sometimes funny.

Have a wonderful weekend what left of it.

Hugs :) BB

MOO!:moo: that is all I can say....We had family over on Saturday I didn't eat a lot, it's just what I ate, I had some beer also.... Yesterday I ate to much....munchies from the beer drinking....:hat:
Today I will not ever look at bread or anything that even looks like a carb...

update...I got the results back from my CT scan, they found a small 5mm nodule on my pancreas, and of course they don't know what it is.. I have an appointment w/a specialist on Tuesday....great more tests...
More updates to follow...

Weather for NE PA is hot and steamy today!!!:sunny: Have a great Holiday everyone!!:woo:

05-29-2006, 08:04 AM
Good morning. We had a hot day yesterday followed by rain so it's steamy here this morning.

I was up at 5:30 this morning - Lucy's back! The milk bar is nor completely closed so she's a bit uncomfortable. I'm going to do a little expressing of milk to ease her a bit. The pups will stay at Morna's because otherwise Lucy will just keep cranking out the milk. Some breeders withold food and water for 48 hours to dry up milk production but that seems so cruel. She was absolutely delighted to be home and could hardly wait to get outside to explore the garden. Hershey was beside herself with joy!

This morning I need to get a handle on this switch to summer clothing. I hate all the stuff I put away last fall! I may spend the summer in a g-string and pasties covered with my Hawaiian muumuu for social occasions. This morning I'll get realistic and see what I can salvage. It doesn't help that most stuff is baggy. Maybe I'll just do large sewn in creases on all the pants!

Some friends are coming over to get some plants this morning so I'd better get into some gardening duds and get out there. The veggie garden was tilled when I was away in Vancouver but needs tilling again. I need to check it out to see if it's too wet before I prevail on darling neighbour Moel to till it again for me. My tomato, cuke and basil plants really want out of the pots and into the earth!

Have a super Memorial Day, American Chicks, and a reasonable Monday, ROTW (Rest of the World)!

Morning, gals! Would you believe they paged me at the Renaissance Fair yesterday? I answered questions and then asked them to page my team lead since I knew he would be home and he TOLD me to take the day and enjoy it. Oh, well, I have a meeting for 9 this morning and need to get some work done first. I'll be around but I don't know if I'll have any time to even lurk. Those five servers are calling me. And I'm also doing laundry since I am out of bras and having to wear a sports one. Just too much going on.

DH and Brian are driving quite a ways today for a train show so I'll be home all day to work undisturbed once they wakeup and leave.

05-29-2006, 10:13 AM
Good Morning Barb, Ruth, and Maureen,

Goal for the summer- get these two girls to sleep in a bit on the SAME day!! One always seems to be up early and then the other will sleep until 8:30. If I can get them both to 7:30 I would be in heaven. :)

Maureen The 'ole alcohol always weakens my :dust: Let us know when you find out more about your test results.

Barb They paged you at the Fair?? That seems a bit much! I guess today isn't going to be much of a day off for you. :(

Ruth Pasties and a g-string?? :belly: You crack me up!

DH is off today and tomorrow, so we will just be hanging out. In-laws for dinner tonight. I got a gift card for a local movie theater, so I think that DH and my 4 year old are going to go see a movie this afternoon. That means while the baby is napping I could have 2 hours to myself. :D I think curling up on the couch with a book sounds delightful!!

Have a good one gals!

Good Morning Ladies:)

How are all doing today???????????Leo & are going to have another relaxing day ahead of us. I'm making a huge cucumber salad, hoping it comes close to my mothers version. She made the best cuke salad around, but never bothered to take down the recipe. Its more of a oil vinegar base than the traditional mayo version.

Can't believe how the months are flying by, Thursday is going to be June 1st.I was suppose to be a goal by my birthday and the end of June, don't think that will happen.Maintained at 153 this week,So I lost 2 lbs this month. Thats Ok with me,now if I can lose to 2-lbs a month that will take me until Nov to hit my weight goal.UMMMMMMMMM!!:chin: So I'm gong to give myself until Dec 2006. Hopefully I'm going on the downward trent with the scale soon.

Have a great day Hugs :) BB

Restartin P1 today after a month of going bezerk with food. Gained about I'm thinking 10 lbs, but to far I stayed OP today. Went to the parade this morning to watch my DD march. She is a Brownie and at the end of the parade all the girl and boy scouts march. It is really nice to see how many kids and parents are involved in scouting in our town. Went for a walk today and am now starving for dinner. Hope everyone enjoys there long weekend.

05-29-2006, 09:38 PM
I'm ready to relax and enjoy my Memorial Day now. I've finished setting up the servers that were my share and I've put in my 12 hours of work. I even managed a quick trip to the grocery store so I think it's time to eat dinner now. I'm glad I'm working from home tomorrow. I still have lots to catch up from that I would normally get done on the weekend.

05-29-2006, 10:17 PM
'ello ladies, I'm back from my visit in wv and I stayed OP the entire time, officially 1 month OP. wooo!
