I found out my estrogen was low due to my method of birthcontrol. I am on the nuva ring which is low hormone, but I need higher levels of estrogen. I was having all sorts of problems with vaginal stuff and hair and skin and so forth. And also I was gaining weight and I didn't understand why.

So I have been taking oral estrogen for about a month now and I am starting to see some changes. I have a little more pep every now and then.

We thought it was thyroid at first- I had all the symptoms, but it ended up being the estrogen.

What are your symptoms of low-estrogen? Despite normal blood results, my gynecologist prescribed estrogen therapy to induce my period after a long bout of amenorrhea. I haven't started the therapy, but I'm curious about the specifics of bodily changes before & after treatment.

Thanks in advance, and I wish you continued success!

It was sort of like menopause. My hair and skin were incredibly dry. My hair texture changed. My scalp produced very little oil- I only washed my hair twice a week which was unusual for me. Scrapes and so forth were just not healing. My period was comming further and further apart and getting lighter and lighter (And on birth control it is supposed to be regular). I also had vaginal pain but never a yeast infection to explain it. My body hair stopped growing. I shaved my legs and six weeks later they were still smooth. This was the only benefit :) I also felt spacey. And sluggish all the time. I was gaining weight and wasn't sure why, and I just wanted to go to bed. ANd I was having migraines.

Good luck with your period issues! Those can sure be a pain...
