Just starting the thread....
Hope everyone is OK, I'm a bit snowed under so I'll be back later on.
Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend? I'm going to a "tube party" on Friday night. It's being held in a disused tube station (an underground station) and we all have to dress up as tube stations. I reckon I'll go as Angel.
08-15-2001, 09:17 AM
Kirsty: A tube party sounds like fun. How do you dress-up as a tube?
Ali: good to see you around. Don't work too hard.
Kim: I did talk to the manager. no help. I got hte feeling they thought they were too busy to put it back on teh grill. Anyway, nothing free just a really mad me!
Hello to everyone still to post. Hey, were is Tonya? Sis in law wedding? anyway, will try to get back later.
08-15-2001, 09:31 AM
Trish... that is a crock. I would definately boycott that place... and tell others to. That is poor customer service!!!
Kirsty.... you are a party girl. It is boring here, no cool parties at all!!!
I woke us this morning and was going to walk Sadie, but it was windy out and looked like rain, so I figured it was cold. HUbby said it wasn't tho, but by that time it was too late to walk her. BUT, if the rain lets up, we are going to work out at lunch time! YAHHHH....
Trish, I think we are missing a lot of people here.... Tonya, Kieri, of course Brenda, but that is not her fault (darn internet police!) COME OUT COME OUT WHERE EVER YOU ARE!!!!!
08-15-2001, 10:06 AM
Hello, me again!
Trish, basically you choose any underground station in London and dress to represent the station's name. There is one called Angel, so I'll put on my fairy wings and wear a sparkly frock and go as an angel. My friend is going to go as Parson's Green (she's dressing up as a vicar with a green wig). The classic one is Cockfosters where men attach a can of Fosters (australian lager)to their crotch...lovely.
Jen - hope you get to work out at lunchtime. I've already had my lunch (yummy veggie delite sub from Subway). Three hours till hometime.
I'm suffering from a severe lack of concentration today (yes, worse than normal!). This usually makes me eat far too many snacks. Luckily someone from work has brought in a big box of jelly belly beans (and there are only 6 calories a bean!). Mmmm, yummy.
So, where are the rest of ya hiding?
08-15-2001, 10:09 AM
Kirsty... TOO COOL! If you get any pics, post them!!! Still raining here. BLUCHHH! We have to walk 3 blocks to get to the gym, but I will be very wet and look horrid by the time I get back to work!!! Hopefully it will clear up by then!!!
Where oh where is everyone???????????????????????
08-15-2001, 10:23 AM
Kirsty: not only do we not have cool parties like that, we do not have cool train stations with cool names like that. We do have a bus, not that I have ever actually taken it...but no cool bus stop names.
Jen: I was wondering about Kieri as well. Hope everyone is ok and just really busy. Pooh on the rain. I really hope we get some rain. We are so dry here.
Oh and did I tell eveyone that all my flowerpots are dead due to lack of water from my vacation. So now I am going to have to go out and get mums (which I don't like to put out until September) to put in them before my grandmother comes to visit this weekend.
Ok, come on out everyone.
08-15-2001, 10:26 AM
Good morning everyone. sorry I didn't stop in yesterday. I have been eating too much the past few days and not writing it down. I think I have eaten betweem 25-30 points which isn't terrible but I would rather eat less. And I have had to do short workouts at the gym the pat 2 days as well. The podiatrsit said that I have to modify my workouts so that I am not putting so much pressure on my feet. I am supposed to alternate between the bike and treadmill/elliptical. We will see how that goes. The arthritis Dr was good yesterday. I am stopping my medication since we are TTC. I got the results of my blood test and I am no longer anemic and my cholesterol is 139!!! :D I was very excited about that.
This morning did not start off so well. I found out that my client is looking for a Full-time Senior Hr person but they failed to let me know anything about it. I am a consultant and am contracted to come in twice a week. It sounds to me like they are going to cancel but they dtill haven't said anything and the woman is coming in to meet people today! Very strange.
Also, Midway Airlines is having problems and we are supposed fly on Midway for Thanksgiving. I was on the phone this morning trying to figure out the flight changes. Oh, enough about me.
Belle - I am so sorry to hear about b/f. I hope that things work out for you. Let us know how your meeting goes. Please me careful since he has hurt you so many times.
Kirsty- 0 I love the idea of the tube party. I can't see that ever happening in Washington at a metro station though
JenL - I hope you get to work out at lunch. that is a nice break from the office too.
Trish - It is funny about the meat b/c I don't like it cooked! I love very rare meat and I will not eat it in restaurants that cook it medium or more. I won't be able to eat that when I get PG though!
Hi to everyone. Talk to you later.
08-15-2001, 10:47 AM
OK, there are 27 views so far today!!! PLEASE POST, we want to hear from you!!!!
08-15-2001, 11:00 AM
i wonder if it might just be us, every time you refresh your screen or look at the thread it shows as another view...
but if there are some lurkers out there - stop it!! we miss all the news from you guys. there used to be at least a dozen of us that posted all the time. have the internet police taken over the world?
08-15-2001, 11:02 AM
Ha ha just kidding. I can only stay for a minute.
Here in Oklahoma, most restaurants won't cook ground beef anything less than medium well, but you can get a steak however you like. I prefer medium if we're at a real steak joint, but medium rare if we're just anyplace.
I lost .5# at WI last night! I was hyped since I started TOM yesterday and am sooooooo bloated.
Oops! Boss is back and I must scatter!
08-15-2001, 11:10 AM
Sarah: That is great health news. I am happy for you. You are right, once you are PG you really start to change your eating habits. All meat MUST be well done...and there are so many things that you can not eat. Oh well, it is worth it. I am just the big-time food police right now. That is strange about your client.
Kirsty: Are you home yet? I get so jelous when you say that you are going home and I am only eating my mid-morning snack. I selectively forget that you are at work when I am home asleep. HA HA. Hey, have you and BF found a place to live yet? What is it like? I think it will be ok to live together and work together at first. Maybe not so many changes all at once will be good. Plus, you both now it is temp. Should be great.
Jen: my dog will not get up in the morning even to walk. She has gotten so lazy. I wish my hubby would come with us when we go. We all need the walking.
Ok, back to work.
08-15-2001, 11:34 AM
but not long to go! it's just gone 4:30 here and i finish at 6. hooray!
sarah - will a fulltime HR person mean you won't be needed? surely they need to tell you?
trish - BF and i have just started looking for a place. he needs to find somewhere short term for a couple of months cos my lease doesn't finish till end of oct. i'm sooo excited about it, but nervous too!
stacey - hooray on the loss - go girl!
right, i'm going to try and wake up (anyone else fall asleep in the afternoons?) and finish my work.
08-15-2001, 11:36 AM
Kirsty... hubby and I work together. I won't say it is good all the time, but then again, we only have a staff of 13, so everyone is pretty personal. Sometimes I just want to get away!!! It has it's positives and negatives!! We have been working together for about 3 1/2 years now.
Trish... Can't eat Feta cheese. I once ordered a salad that came with it on... I freaked and picked it off. I was always afraid that food would hurt the baby. But then again, I ate a lot of things that I don't even touch now. The things you crave when you are PG!!!
Stacey... I was speaking in a loud tone!!!:smug:
I just hope we haven't lost some of the regulars!!!
08-15-2001, 11:50 AM
I don't really have much to say today so I'll just say hi! I think I'll go to WI today, though. I'll take anything, even a .2 loss.
Kirsty: That party sounds fun! Here in Southwest Virginia, in redneck-ville, we don't have anything cool like that. There are NASCAR races, of course. Never been to one. And there are tons of outdoor things to do, hiking, biking, boating, outdoor jazz fests, that sort of thing.
OK, getting nervous about Friday and the surgery. Someone just called me to get some info for me pre-op check tomorrow and it freaked me out a little. So I called my mom. The biggest worry is being put to sleep. I hate that!
Well, I better run and be a productive member of my staff today.
08-15-2001, 11:56 AM
Jen: I know, no fetta has been a hard one. Also, so of the fish you have to avoid is hard to remember. I just try to be careful and stick with things I know are ok for us.
Kirsty: I have know couples who worked together and lived together. I think they have made it work. I will tell you, living together (weither it is hubby or bf) brings new issues to a relationship at first...but remember they are mostly roommate issues that have nothing to do with the real relationship and will work out soon (as most roommate issues due). I think harding with hubby/BF since it is a BOY and they have some stinky living issues (even really clean boys I think). Plus, they can have funny ideas about decorating. I think it is good that you are both moving into a new place rather than one moving into anothers place. I would bet that is harder. when hubby and I got married (we did not live together before we were married. heck, we lived in differnt cities) I moved into his appartment...and he had UGLY furnature. But I felt bad changing too much of his place. Once we moved to our house that all changed and we did it together (but i bet he would say that I decorated and he just moved stuff.) Oh, and I sold his UGLY couch. The loveseat that matched is in his office at home. I let he do what he wants in there. sometimes we have to save our lovedones from themself.
Ok, that was a book.
08-15-2001, 11:57 AM
Kim: Big hug to you. Don't worry. I bet you are not out that long so the aftereffects should not be too bad. Thinking of you.
08-15-2001, 12:13 PM
This is quick as I am super busy at work with dumb meetings.
Kim - don't worry abou tbeing put under, you'll do fine! You are a healthy, strong girl, and you will be fine. You have all of us who will send good vibes your way on friday.
Sarah - good news on your bill of health as well!
Kirsty - wow, I am definatley moving to London, that is all I can say! I think I am missing out. Cockfosters???? Yikes.
Jen - I worked with B/f for 2 weeks while we were dating and I am glad I don't sometimes, but wish I did other times. How is Emma?
Trish the Dish - feeling Bambino yet? My dog is too lazy to get up to walk in teh morning too - he is like Eeyore on winnie the pooh.
Well, a quick update, I met b/f yesterday for 1/2 an hour. He took a mental health day and asked me to stop by before I went out. HE said that he knows only one thing that he wants to be with me and that he knows he made a huge mistake and has forthe past year. But this incident made him realize what he has and what he'd be missing if he lost me. He asked me if I thought we could work it out and rebuild what we lost. I said I thought it might be possible, but we have to sit down today and seriously discuss it. then I'll decide. He said he knows he has lots of trust to re-earn with me and my family and that he realizes that he took me for granted since I was always there, first as a friend, then more.
Anywya, I realize I am in control now. ANd youi know, the few days I was "dumped" I realized I can get on without a man, any man, and I have other things nad people in my life that fulfill me. I know that this is really a choice that I will have to make, as he is clear he only wants to be with me, but its up to me, if I can forgive him and make another try.
I don't know what I'll say yet tonite, I don't know if I want to date him again. Not that I odn't love him, or miss him, but I am not sure I eveer ever want to go through this again.
I guess I have some more serious soul searching to do!
Well, I have to go now, but thanks for always listening and allowing me to cry/vent/rant to you all. I appreciate the support, I really do.
Also, I have managed to be OP and exercise through all of this - which is weird, b/c I didn't ever lose sight of what I wanted through this, which is to stay OP and lose. Wierd, usually I would get really apathetic.
I hope you all have a good day, I'll check in later but you'll probably all be gone!!
08-15-2001, 12:33 PM
You are woman, hear you roar!!
Kirsty: I, too, get tired in the afternoons!
Kim: The going to sleep part is the best for me! I'm just afraid of getting sick from the anestesia...the gas, so when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I didn't eat or drink ANYTHING--no water, nothing--from 8:00 pm the night before until after the surgery. I hate throwing up, especially when your mouth is full of cotton to begin with.
There was something else I wanted to say, too, but now I forgot!
Oh well, boss is on her way back from getting a sandwich so I'd better wrap this up. And yes, I have internet police to an extent. I just have to CMA (cover my @ss)
Bye for now!
Oh yeah!! Kim, I have been to a NASCAR race and it was awesome!! Talk about power and adrenaline and men and beer and men and beer and men.... hahahahahaha BUT, the tickets went up in price to $110 per ticket this past year at Texas Motor Speedway. Sucky!
Here comes boss........
08-15-2001, 01:22 PM
You go Belle!!! You sound so much more confident already. I am glad to hear that b/fd is sorry and knows what he is missing olut on but he needs to act like it! Be strong and stand up for yourself tonight. you deserve the best :)
Trish - I hope you feel the baby soon. that is so exciting!
Stacey - HI! Congrats on your loss!
Kim - Good luck with the surgery. I am sure it will go well.
JenL - I could never work w/ DH but I don't have to worry about it since he is a teacher and I work in offices :dizzy: BTW, DH & I were talking about baby names yesterday and now he likes Emma. (I thought we had setted on Elizabeth Lynne and call her Lily but he doesn't want to steal from my cousins). I love the name, I hope he doesn't change his mind. Emma Lynne Bird :)
Kristy - Looking at apartments together and starting over is fun. DH moved in with me but he didn't have much furniture so it wasn't too hard. He had to get rid of the stuff that was falling apart! Have a good night!
The meeting with the new HR person went ok. I am pretty sure that the Exec Dir will go with her instead of keeping me as a consultant. He likes everything to be in-house form what I hear. I guess I will find out in the next few weeks. Ok, back to work/internet surfing. See you later.
08-15-2001, 01:55 PM
just a quickie i'm not dead

i'm gonna catch up on the weeks posts tonight and then write a long one
08-15-2001, 02:07 PM
Sarah... I'm with you... Lily bird sounds better than Emma Bird. I LOVE the name Elizabeth and Lily... But my hubs g-ma's name is Elizabeth and I wouldn't want her to think we named our baby after her, so if we have another girl, we may use it for a middle name... who knows.
KO... welcome back. Was this a guy friend you were visiting??? DETAILS!!
Stacey... The do the CMA thing to. I am the queen of minimizing a screen!!!! The worst thing... hubby IM's me and my screen flashes. We aren't supposed to have IM, so I get nervous!! :^:
08-15-2001, 04:42 PM
Can this day drag by any slower? ANYONE??
STacey adn Sarah, thanks for your encouragement. I really do feel pretty confident and I feel like I am in control of my own situation. Just applying for other jobs helped me out. I have 6 more months on this contract and that's good time to bank some $ and find a new job. And with b/f. well, I'll see what transpires tonite. If I take him back, it'll be on my terms. If I don't, I will not look back. that is what I decided. and since I am undecided on that, I will just wait and see what we say and what my heart says tonite. Trust my instinct.
Jen = I love Emily, but I won't name my kid that b/c its my stepmonsters favorite name. HOW bad am I? I also liked Gillian, but her neice is Gillian so there went that idea!!! I love Emma....great name.
KIER - I PMed you but woo hoo - details on this new man! :D and congrats on goal!!! I think I still have like 8 to go - I'll have to check Jen's website.
Well, gotta run.
08-15-2001, 04:56 PM
Belle... there are some technical difficulties with the website and I haven't gotten a chance to dig into it. I have a 2000 machine at work and I wonder if that has something to do with it... so I am going to try it at home on my 98! Sorry!!! I'll try to remember to post an update tho!
08-15-2001, 06:28 PM
Hi everyone :)
Sounds like everyone's having a good day so far. I'm not really. We slept late htis morning and of course we had a ton to do. We're going camping this weekend so we had to get groceries and stuff. This is the only day where we could both go together (we don't have a car so we have to carry everything home so two is better than one). Anyway because we slept late we didn't eat breakfast and then next thing it was luchtime and we were at the mall so we went to the food court. Dallas (my fiance) did the smart hting and had a nice healthy sub. I on the other hand am really sick of subs right now so I decided to get a soft taco and those mexi-fry things. Anyway I only ate half of the fries because they were soooo greasy. So that was all fine and then we were off again. Within 20 minutes I had the worst abdominal pain  I knew I was either going to throw up or have the runs :o  I had to use the bathroom at the grocery store and then we still had to walk home :( I tell you that was the longest twenty minute walk in my life  I've been laying down almost ever since. I feel so lousy :( So now I'm thinking :?: either I have some kind of food poisoning or my body is reacting from the greasy food that I have been avoiding for sometime now or its some kind of weird sign that I'm supposed to keep on track and not abuse my body :nono: Weird. Also I'm thinking... do I have to count those points I ate because they went right through (I'm sure you all wanted to know those details  )
Anyway that's about all I have to say for now. I hope you all have a better day then I'm having. One thing about checking in so late is that everyone's already made all the comments I think of when I read the posts. Oh well. Maybe one of these days I won't be busy in the mornings and can check in earlier. Take care everyone.
08-15-2001, 06:44 PM
I remembered something I wanted to comment on. Trish you know how you were talking about how you got raw meat at a restaurant? That happens to me all the time!!!! I can name at least 15 restaurants that have tried to serve me raw meat in the past three years since I moves to the city! I get soooo frustrated. I spend most of my time ordering boring pasta because at least its safe and I won't have any hassle. Then once in awhile I get brave and decide to try to order meat again and low and behold it shows up to the table uncooked! It doesn't matter what kind of meat it is either-beef, chicken, fish. Its so brutal and it makes me so mad  Most places don't even try to make up for it- no appologies, no discounts, nothing free. I hate that. Three times for sure I have had food poisoning from restaurants. I am so paraniod now. My friends all make fun of me-until my food arrives and it happens again. It never happens to any of them-ever! Its not fair. So at home I am extra cautious and I make my fiance check everything at home and in the restaurant. Oh well... Anyway that's my little rant about restaurant food. If any of you are ever coming to Saskatoon, in Canada where I live let me tell you where not to go before you come-k :)
Talk to you later
ps-is there somewhere I can go to find out what all of the little abbreviatios mean? Today I finally figured out what TOM & WI stand for. I'm still not sure what DH means. I know it has something to do with your significant other but I don't know what. Everytime I see it it makes me think "DearHeart" Isn't that corny?? If that's really what it means I'm gonna LMAO
08-15-2001, 11:18 PM
Hi Everyone :) Just a quick note to say hi. I've been busy busy but have been doing a fair job of keeping up with the posts.
Belle... Good for you :) Don't you let him get away with this anymore... lay down the law!
Rina... Ugh, I hope you're feeling better. That sounds awful. Hopefully it's nothing serious and will go away quickly. DH stands for Dear Hubby/Husband. There's also DS and DD for Dear Son and Dear Daughter. Hmm not sure about where you could find a list of explanations... I guess just ask as you come across new ones :)
Kierie... oooh details on the man! We want to hear all about it! I'm glad you had a great time, that's awesome. Good to have you back here tho.
