I was having trouble getting the other one loaded so I thought I'd start a new Thursday chatters! Hope that's OK with everyone.

I just got back from my classroom. It takes me so long to get my room ready. I went through more posters tonight, organized my poster boxes and labeled them so I know what is in each one (it only took me 24 years to get smart!), moved desks around trying to decide how I want the room. Having the extra adult desk and a bookshelf for the interpreter really takes up a lot of room, so I'm trying to get it arranged so the kids aren't right on top of either one of us.

I have 20 students, but 26 student desks. I can't put them in storage anywhere because they would come up missing! I'm still considering bringing them to my house and putting them in the loft in our big garage out back. Haven't approached Bob about that though!

Read some more of the Weigh Down Workshop book last night. A friend of mine (Carol) is going to borrow the tapes. She's going to start doing it also. She lost about 20-25 pounds last year, and has been at a standstill. Ready to get back on a roll with the new school year.

Tim and Bob are meeting with a Merit Badge Counselor for Boy Scouts tonight. In the next 2 weeks, we want him to get as much done on his Environmental Science badge that he can. We know once school begins, he'll be busy with other things (silly things like homework! LOL).

I think I've typed enough for now. Take care everyone!!

Hi All,
It's been terrible today. I haven't been able to get online because Larry had everything down. We have DSL now and are changing over to its stuff. (Doesn't that sound scientific! )

I've been below points today. Yea! I'll weigh in with Larry tomorrow night. Wish me luck.

Tammy, it sounds like you got lots done today.

Laura, how do you feel?? :)

I've been sneezing this evening & feel my sore throat coming back. Think I'll have some hot tea and go to bed.

Hi everyone, I joined WW on Jan 18th. I just found 3FC. I have a GREAT leader. Have been doing very well. Wish I had known about this site earlier in my weight lose days. Started out at 176 with WW and 181 on Jan 2 so I lost some before I joined. I am now down to 142.8 my goal is 124 I want to get into my wedding dress for my 30th Anniversary. It is not until Oct 21, 2002 so I know I will do it. The hard part will be maintaining it. I wish everyone great success on Thursday. I go to the 5:30pm meeting if my daycare kids are picked up early or the 7:00pm if not. I have 5 kids in my daycare. 8 weeks, 1 year, 1 1/2, 2, and 4. I enjoy sewing, scrap booking, machine embroidering and tole painting. :spin: (when I can find time) haha. Talk to you on Thursday. Nola

Howdy all,

Well, one more day and counting!!! School starts on Thursday. It will be back to packing my lunch. I'm thinking about getting a larger lunch bag or small cooler so I can pack several bottles of water.

Tammy, I know how you feel!! I have collected so much stuff, some I don't even use anymore. Remember my degree is in deaf ed. if you need help. Let me know. Make sure your hearing impaired student is in the front of the class. :)

Tina, hope you get to feeling better soon. Is it allergies?

Nodie, welcome to the group. This is a great group of people and very supportive!!

I'm weighing in tomorrow. Hopefully the scale will be nice to me. I would just like to be down. I don't even care how much, but just a little. I'll let you guys know how I do.

Good luck with your weigh ins.

Susan :dizzy:

Nola,
Welcome to the group. Wow, you've lost so much. That's great. With your busy life, I don't see how you find time to sew, scrapbook, etc. By the way, What kind of sewing machine do you have? I'm in the market for a new one that also embroidries. Again Welcome!!!!

Susan, I wish you luck tomorrow. Do you get butterflies in your stomach like you were the one going back to school? :)

I relaxed all day yesterday. It was nice taking it easy. I'm just home from work now and need a nap. ;)

Oh Susan, Larry and I are going to San Antonio this Fri. & Sat. We're taking a quick getaway. We'll be staying at a Courtyard by Marriott. I'll eat some salad at the Barn Door for you.

Tammy, have you figured out what to do with the extra desks at school?

Where are our other friends????? Please post.

I'm jealous Tina!!!! So happy for you!! :) Make sure that you have their house dressing. It is my favorite. Have a blast!!!! You deserve it!!

I do get nervous about going back. It is truly like being the one going back to school. I don't sleep good and am real restless. I'll be that way on the night before the kids come back too. Silly isn't it!!

Well, weigh in wasn't good again. Up 1.2 I asked for the Breaking Through booklet for plateaus. Maybe going back to school and having to take my sack lunch will help. I got a cool thermal cooler for my lunch sack. Big enough that I can take lots of water.

Have a great day and weigh in. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Welcome to the group Nola! Great bunch for encouragement and just to chat!

I haven't figured out what to do with the desks yet. Thought today about setting up a learning center for map skills, and I could use them there.

I have never heard of the Barn Door. I think I must be missing something!

Susan, this is my 25th year and I know I won't sleep the night before school starts. I can't sleep the night before the teacher's work day! I don't know why I get so nervous.

When I first started teaching, I was on my way to school and passed a school bus going the other way. I had to pull off the road because I was getting sick!!!

I have a small refrigerator in my classroom, so I keep bottled water, fruits, vegies in there. I got it by using bonus points from book orders.

That's all for now. Dreading weigh in. My hands and ankles are so swollen. Not sure what the problem is.

Good afternoon, all!

Sorry I haven't been around much. Coming back to work after being gone for three weeks meant digging through an avalanche of paper and pages of e-mails waiting for me. I think I've weathered it pretty well, and am fairly somewhat kinda sorta caught up.

Nola, welcome! Glad to have you on our thread here.

I have to figure out what to do tonight. It's my birthday, so I don't want to sit home and do nothing. I celebrated with my sister and her family last night, and my dad and his wife are coming up on Sunday. I'm going out with some friends on Saturday. But tonight, it's just me! I think I might stop by the video store and see what's new there, and then go home and make myself an awesome dinner (no, probably not OP, but heck - birthdays are only once a year!).

Talk to ya later!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Laura....... Happy birthday to you!!!!

Tammy, I like the idea of keeping the desks for map skills. That way you have them in your room and don't have to store them.

I'm exhausted today since school started. Might even go to bed early.

Ya'll have a great day!!

Hi group,
Laura, I sang to you on the weigh in thread. ;)

Susan, so how was the first day of school? How many students do you have this year?

Tammy, I too like your idea of using the desks.
And, the Barn Door is a neat restaurant in San Antonio, TX. Come down and I'll take you there--it's only 3 1/2 hrs from my house.

It's midnight and I'm just finishing packing. I started earlier but our cat took up residence in the case and I didn't have the heart to move him. I'm a softy for that ball of fur.

Just a quick note before I head to bed. I'm really tired. I have to be chipper tomorrow since school starts.

Tina, my class varies. I'm the special ed department chair so I'll spend my day making sure that kids get in the right classes, and helping out the new teachers. My class is content mastery (this is where the kids can come for extra help.) So I won't actually have kids this week. It is a busy week making sure that everyone is accounted for and everything runs smoothly.

Better head to bed since I know I'm not going to get to sleep for a while. My eyes will be wide open. I'm the same as I was a kid.

Hope everyone has a great week. We've been kind of quiet lately.

Hi group.

Happy B-day Laura, even though Im late saying it.
How was your mini trip Tina?

Looks like everyone thats posting has been gearing up for the school year again too. Ours started on the 16th, seems like it starts earlier each year :dizzy:

No I didnt vanish, I just turned antiquey (age wise) and have had a rough summer with my motivation and stuff. I rejoined WW back in June and didnt even make it to a meeting..boohoo. I keep thinking I should go again, but I dont want to rejoin again until Im under my last W/I amount........but on a brighter note.... I have been OP for the last 2 days...just barely on Sat, but I was. I looked in the mirror Fri night, and didnt like what I saw, and hopefully will make big improvements.

Welcome to the group Nola!! Sounds like your doing fantastic on your goal....you'll look faboulous in your wedding dress when the time comes.

Well I cant respond to everyone's posts tonight, as this message would be like 5 pages long  but wanted to say hi...and wish everyone a good week ...... I will try to post more often again.

I'm baaaack!

We had a fantastic time. It was so hot there. We tried to stay indoors or in the car. It was 100 on Friday and 101 on Saturday.

Susan, we ate at the Barn Door on Friday night. I had the house dressing on my salad...yummy! I ate half my 6 oz. filet. Oohhh that was so good having steak. It came with carrots and baked potato. I didn't eat the potato but ate 1 1/2 homemade rolls.

Dee, I'm so glad to hear from ya. Looking in the mirror can really get a person back to WW, can't it. You can do this. You've done good in the past and will again! :)

Laura, what did you do on your birthday? You mentioned renting a video and making an awesome dinner. Tell us all about it.

Tammy, have you found a secret way to rid water retention?

Nola, how was your weekend? Were you able to stay OP? I completely blew it yesterday. I'm doing pretty good today, so far.

Everyone take care.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I forgot to reply last Thursday. I lost 3 pounds. Down to 139.8 Since finding this site and reading the benifits of drinking water I have tried it and I have gone from losing 1 pound a week to losing 3 pounds two weeks in a row. Don't think I will do that this week though the scales seem to be stuck on the same number. That is OK I am not complaining. I never drank any water and not to much fluid either. I never even drank anything with my meals. Now I drink 4 to 6 bottles of water a day. A lot of peeing going on but wow what a difference it makes on the scales.
Tina I have a Designer 1 and truly thousands of programs. Let me know it you do get an embroidery machine.
Good luck everyone on this Thursdays weigh in.

Hi All,

Hope you have had a great day!! :)

School is busy as usual! :dizzy: It will slow down soon but it will take a couple of weeks. I'm taking my lunch everyday. I take my water and snacks. I'm eating something every couple of hours.

Tina, I so jealous about you going to the Barn Door. Glad you had a great meal. You did great there.

Good evening all,
Nola, I've never heard of a Designer 1 machine. I'll have to look it up on the internet.

Susan, I was just saying to my husband that I wondered how Susan and Tammy were doing. I'm glad things are going okay.

Tammy, how are you doing? What's up?

Linda, Laura, Sis, Dee, and everyone???

Hi all! This is the first I've been on since my last post, whenever that was. Busy!

We worked in our band booster food tent on Sunday and Monday at our county fair. I was totally pooed out when we were finished. By the time we walked to the car last night, I was ready to cry. Too much bending for my back I think, and I twisted my knee when I was climbing a couple steps. What a klutz!

Yesterday and today I worked at school off and on. My team teacher, the principal, and I worked on finalizing a schedule for our art, music, and gym classes. All the words were swimming across the page by the time we got finished.

Not much else going on. Rings are spinning on my finger instead of being super snug now. Weird.

Toodles! Tammy

Hi everyone good luck on weigh in today or in my case tonight. My daughter in-law is going to join WW tonight, I will have to go to the late meeting so we can go together. It will be worth it to help her. She had a baby boy on April 14 of this year and needs help losing the weight. He was my 5th grandson and my other daughter in-law had my sixth grandson on May 11. I have 3 sons and 6 grandsons. It is so much fun, the oldest is 5.

Tina it is a Husqvarna Viking (Designer 1).

Tammy
08-23-2001, 10:30 PM
Nola, aren't new babies wonderful? I love to just cuddle them. Now I make do with Kramer (our dachsund!) Tim is a bit too big to cuddle since he's 13, but I still get lots of hugs!

Susan, I started thinking today about what I need to buy to keep in my fridge starting next week at school. I already bought some crackers, granola bars, etc. to keep in a drawer. Tim munches after school before he goes to cross country practice, so I have to get things for him too.

Tina, tell me about the house dressing at the Barn Door. I'm always cautious about house dressings. Even though I'll never make it to the BD, I'm curious.

auntie
08-23-2001, 10:50 PM
Tammy, the dressing at the Barn Door is a cross between garlic and green goddess. It is great. I'll have to look for the receipe. The Barn Door is a steak house in San Antonio. It's really good. :D My family grew up going there.

I'm taking a bunch of veggies for my lunch along with sandwich. I'm trying to be good.

Nodie, all those babies!! How fun!!! :) I have 6 nephews and 2 nieces. I love being with them

Tina, what's new with you?

Susan

What's new with me???
I need some support here. My psyche could use a boost. :)
I'm stuck and can't seem to lose anything. It's too hot to exercise outside. By the evening, I think I'm too tired to ride my exercycle, should I go on & on.
It's poor-me afternoon,
Maybe I'm a little down because I was with my mother for some time. I took her to get a blood test. Sometimes it really hits me that she's this way and won't ever get better. (Usually I can just push it to the back of my mind.)

Well, this isn't a very cheery note. Sorry about that, gang.
I hope y'all had a great OP day.
I did good until I stopped by the bakery to check on petit fours for a tea I'll be giving next month. Of course, I had to try a couple of them. :)

Take care,
Tina

Hi there group!

How's everyone doing? Im doing ok...having trouble staying OP every day, but Im gonna keep working on it. I have noticed that Im not drinking nearly the water as I used to, dont know why though. So thats an area that needs work...along with "stop eating" :nono:

Tina how was them petit fours? They always look soooo yummy, but I've never eaten any. Are you feeling better these days...I know it must be hard when you visit your mother.

Nola, how did you like the evening meeting? Did your daughter go with you and join? I've always like going before lunch time, that way I dont eat anything prior to W/I time *S*

Have a good weekend everyone!

Good evening,
I hope everyone had a good day & a good weekend.

Dee, thank you for asking about me. I do feel a little better today. Sometimes it really gets to me about my mother. She gets everything mixed up in her mind. She'll forget to brush her hair. she will not go to the beauty saloon in the residence because she thinks it costs too much. (She doesn't remember how to wash it herself.) It's so frustating and sad at the same time. Here I go again. Sorry about this.

I had a pretty good OP day. Tomorrow, I will hit the glasses of water. I'll be running to the restroom but that's the price we pay. :)

Hi there. Sorry it's been so long between posts for me. I was downtown in class all last week, and am now trying to finish catching up from my vacation along with catching up from being out of the office all last week. Good thing it's a fairly slow time at the bank these days!!

Didn't weigh in last week because of the class. Good thing, though, because I know I'm up. Starting today, I'm going to be better and get back on track. (How many times have I said that? Hmmmmmmm ...) I did start exercising again last week on my Total Gym, so I feel a little better about that.

Tina, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling down. I'm sure that seeing your mother going through this is very difficult for you. I don't know that there is much that any of us here can do to help you, but please feel free to vent here any time. We do care :)

Tammy & Susan, sounds like school has you up and running already. Hope it's all going smoothly (or at least as smoothly as the start of the school year can possibly be)!

Dee, if you figure out how to make that "stop eating" thing work, please share :^:

Nola, I think it's great that you're going with your daughter-in-law. I know it helped me immensely when I had people I went with every week at work. Now everyone has dropped out except for one person who has been lifetime for well over a year now, so it's not the same at all.

Ok, I guess I've avoided work long enough! Talk to you all later.

Evening all,

Laura, it's good to hear from you. Thanks for your concern. Just having y'all to listen to me really helps. :) Sounds like you've been too busy since your trip. What do you miss the most about your vacation--the food? It sounded soooo good.

Tammy & Susan, how's school?

Dee, are you drinking your water again? If so, what's your secret?

Nola, how are you doing? By the way, how tall are you? 124 pounds sounds awfully small. I wish you luck getting there. ;)
I once weighed 125. It was right before I found out I was pregnant. I'd been so sick at my stomach (and didn't know why :)) that I lost weight. I'm afraid that I'll never ever see that number again.

Linda, what's up???

Tomorrow is my day off and I can't wait to relax.
I'm on my way right now to take a bubble bath. That's right, with candles and soft music. Ooohh......

Ya'll I'm having a tough time staying on program. I'm eating all of my points. I'm trying very hard to not go over. I just am not seeing any progress!!!:( I just want it all to be gone now!!! If that was the case, I guess no one would have to be ww members.

Tina, I just read your post about being down. I hope things are going better. I know how hard things are for you with everything you've gone through with your mother. Hope things are better.

Today was the 2nd day of school with students. The interpreter for the little boy with the cochlear implant is going to be great. She told me to chill and quit worrying about things. LOL
I also had a supervisor from the School for the Deaf with me all day today. She will be there once a week for the first two months of school, then once a month after that. She seems very nice, and I felt very comfortable voicing my concerns to her. I'm still afraid that I'm going to mess this little boy up for life! She laughed at me and told me to relax. I guess I need to chill and relax, right?

I also have 2 students from the multi-handicapped room who will be in my classroom for 30 minutes every day. One of them was with me last year, and I figure he can help the other little guy out.

I am totally exhausted, so I'm planning to hit my pillow very soon. Tim's first Cross Country meet was tonight. He ran 2 miles in 16 min. 57 seconds. Last year he was only under 17 minutes a couple times. I was pleased. He thought he sucked. Oh well! LOL

Take care everyone. Hope it doesn't take me so long to read messages next time.

Tina
08-28-2001, 11:00 PM
Susan, we all know where you're coming from. What's the saying--something about it's so easy & quick to put weight on but not to take it off. (I paraphrased. :) ) I will tell you to be patient--if you will tell me the same thing.
Now that open house is over with, maybe you can relax for a while.

Are y'all creative? I have to do the first page of a bulletin tomorrow morning. Since I've been taking a desk top publishing course, I'm expected to do wonders. :) This is just not my thing. Wish me luck.

Tina, how did your class go today? I have taken so many classes over the years and I feel like I am still totally ignorant about things on the computer.

I did spend some time over the weekend doing my class schedule on a spreadsheet program. I even put in colors!!! Naturally, our schedule is now totally changed as of yesterday afternoon! I sat down last night and I think I made all of the corrections. Before I make copies to send home with the students, I think I need to double check.

Did great on food today. No breaks at school other than lunch, so no time to sneak a snack.

Well, I'm down a big whopping .2 pounds. :D I certainly won't complain since I have had gains the last couple of weeks. Anything is better than nothing. I might be 90 when I get to goal at that rate. :dizzy:

Tammy, I hear you about being exhausted. My husband just doesn't understand why the first couple of weeks, I'm completely wiped out. I agree with all the other deaf ed people, chill about your kiddo. Now go to bed!!

Hi there.

Not having the greatest week here (let's just say men stink and leave it at that). But it's almost a holiday weekend, and I'm getting a manicure and pedicure tomorrow (bday present from my friend who's going with me). Things will be looking up.

Tammy & Susan, I thought about you today as I was reading the paper. The comic strip "Zits" had a cute comic about getting ready for school. I tried to find a link to it online, but the web site delays posting, so they're only up to August 17th. So I'll try to describe it here, in case you don't get it:

High school kid sitting at his desk. Says "Alarming posture ... half-lidded cynical eyes ... slack-jawed look of boredom ... okay, I'm ready". As it shows him all slumped in his chair he says: "Teach me. I dare you." :D

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!

My week has been tough too. Hopefully, we'll all get back in the swing of things soon.

Have a great weekend!!

Hi everyone I did good at the last weigh in lost another 3 pounds was really surprised. All I can say is drink drink drink. But, of course the story does not end there. My dads wife, my stepmom died a week ago Sunday the funeral was Wednesday and Dad and my stepsister came back home with me until yesterday. I GAINED 9 pounds during all this. I am back up to 145. Oh, well I will take it off again. It just was not the time to worry or even think about it. I did not even go to WW last Thursday.

Laura my daughter in-law did go with me and it was great but even she did not go last Thursday night. I hope that she is planning to go this week. It is not a good sign when you don't even want to go back the first week.

Tammy my other daughter in-law raises dachsunds to sell. She always has a houseful. They are so cute. We lost our Lasha Opso to cushings 2 years ago and have not wanted to get another pet yet.

Auntie doing daycare and having 6 grandsons I always have a houseful of babies. I do truly love it, it is so much fun.

Deex I never eat after 1:00 pm on ww night. There is a subway across the street and I have one after meeting.

Tina I am 5' 4" and you are right I may never make that weight again but I really wanted to wear my orginal dress for my 30 th Anniversary. I still have a year to get there so I am hopeful.

Good luck everyone on Thursday.

Hi Nola! There's another Thursday thread that is more up-to-date than this one.

When you lose a loved one, the last thing you need to worry about is what you are eating and drinking. I've lost so many over the past few years, maybe I'm using that as an excuse for not losing. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
