Yes...I think we're all missing Ruthie! I hope she's having a marvelous break, though. :sunny:
I'm just a night owl, chickies...no worries. :D I hear you on getting the cake out of the house...thankfully sugar makes me so sick that I don't crave the cake too much...but I also can't have it around here for long. DH is taking it to work with him. Usually I give it to someone, but I just can't think of anyone to give it to this time...shame because it's the prettiest one I've done yet! It was great fun...unfortunately I've yet to figure out a SF frosting that works for decorating. If I have to make a cake for me, I'll use SF cream cheese frosting to frost it, make a SF cake, and then put the sugar decorations on it. When I eat my part, I'll just scrape the sugar stuff off. At least, that's my plan. ;)
Kyemom and Pearshape, I'm sorrry you're having such a hard time. :grouphug: It can be frustrating to plateau. Just go over what you are doing (and not doing) and try to choose one thing to change this week. Kiko has the right idea about taking baby steps in the right direction...one change at a time. (Congrats, Kiko, on your success, BTW!!! :hat: ).
To the person that asked if you need to eat it all...yes, you really do! If you are stuffed you obviously shouldn't try to stuff more food in, but you do need to make sure you aren't getting stuffed on foods with saturated fat or little nutritional value and ignoring the things you really need, like veggies and water. Veggies can really fill you up and they give you fiber, water, and tons of nutrition! I think the easiest way to get your 4.5 cups in is to eat veggies with all three major meals and at least one snack. Keep thinking about ways to beef up what you're eating with more veggies...can you throw some diced cooked broccoli in? Toss in some mushrooms? Add spinach or kale or other greens? Use cabbage instead of iceberg lettuce (which has little to no nutritional value), etc. You can do it! :D
I have great faith in your abilities to work this plan in ways you need it to work. It's such a flexible plan! That said, there might be something even better for you. Have you checked out the new 3FC book? The sisters did a fantastic job of reviewing all the popular diets, giving you information on what works, what doesn't, how to modify the plans, and even provided recipes for each plan! It could be very helpful if you are trying to see what else is out there.
Today is a fairly laid-back day. I'm hoping to spend the morning writing...journaling, doing fiction writing, and getting to the Theo. on Tap stuff I didn't get to today. ;) I have a meeting with the student I'm tutoring for the GED, then back home to mulch the front yard and cottage garden. It's pouring outside right now, so I'm hoping that it'll be clear and dry enough to mulch. If not, I'll be inside scrapbooking. Either way would be fine...I love both activities! :D
For those that asked, I'm in the Southern Tier/Finger Lakes region in NY. WAY upstate. I noticed that some of our Beachies seem to be in the general area. If anyone's up for getting together for lunch sometime or whatever, I'd be interested. It's so nice to meet in person. :D
Have a fantabulous friday, chickies! Stay dry! :rain:

Beach, you really are a nite owl! :) Sounds like you've got another busy day. Thanks for the wise words. I know that I have problems staying focused and OP, so the advice really helps!!!
Happy Friday to everyone else! Hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend. I've got a funeral to go to today out of town, but after that I don't have any plans. Should be a good weekend to do some cleaning and yard work. What's up with you all this weekend?

We had some heavy rain overnight, but the sun is shining now and it's supposed to get into the mig-70's. I have to take the girls to school this morning (again!) but I only have to work til 1:30 today. It's been such a busy week! My stiff neck is still bothering me, must be the way I sleep. Maybe I need a new pillow? It's funny that something so minor can really put a damper on the day. I'd like to try and get some reading done today, I haven't had much time for that all week, and I'm dying to read the new books I picked up at the library. I've done good staying OP, but I haven't lost anything the past few days.
05-12-2006, 07:42 AM
I have wanted to take a cake decorating class for quite some time now- you are inspiring me! :) Thank you, btw, for the congrats! I am proud of myself in that it is taking me a long time to get my weight off, but even when I slip up for long periods of time I am able to get back on. I am determined to go back to school in the fall (here in Texas it is technically still summer when we go back!) weighing at least 150. I am going to do it!!! I am going to be 38 on my birthday in September and plan to be at my goal weight of 147. :hb: I think that would be the best birthday present I could give myself.
Glad that it is Friday, although it is shaping up to be a busy weekend. DH works on Mother's Day, so it looks like my mom, sister, and my two girlies will go do something together. Not totally sure what, but we just want to be outside doing something or other.
I know I have mentioned in previous posts that we are pretty strapped for money right now- get this! They do a little drawing at DH's hotel and he wins $100. Then I get home yesterday and we have an overage check from our mortgage company for $200. Just what we need to make it through to payday. Isn't that awesome??????? Anyone want me to pick their lottery numbers??
Okay- I need to hit the shower ladies. Everyone have a super day and stay OP!!
05-12-2006, 07:43 AM
Morning Cottage and Jana!!
Cottage- Those Temperpedic (sp??) pillows are supposed to be great. May be worth looking into!

Didn't know what to get them so got them towels, nice fluffy soft ones. Watching the granddaughters tonight while dd & sil go to rehearsal, sil in wedding. Have to fit in coloring my hair today, and need to mow lawns for a mothers day bbq my kids are giving me. Need to do my nails before the wedding and figure out what I am wearing.......

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! I'm prettty wiped out this morning but had a wonderful trip. I won't list the eating "sins" but my ticker stayed the same.
I pulled in at 2 PM last night WITHOUT my luggage which disappeared somewhere between Nanaimo and Ottawa. :( They did find it, however, and are sending it by courier this morning. Whew!
Gotta dash and get darling Hershey sprung from the kennel. Back later. I see we have lots of new folks. :welcome:

Morning all you fabulous chickies! I am so so so so glad it's the weekend! I started the week in a really good mood, but the last 2 days have been really blah. Hoping to have a good OP weekend.
Ruth - Welcome Back!!!! We've missed you :grouphug:
Laurie - Morning Night Owl! I'm orig. from Ithaca and my parents still live there. Maybe I'll look you up the next time I'm visiting.
Cottage - I hope your neck feels better soon!
Kiko - Yeah! on the extra funds. I so know how you feel right now about $.
Crock - congrats on all the weight you've lost so far :congrats: You have such a good attitude and are an inspiration! Good luck :crossed: on your math test.

Well the landlords grandkids woke me up two hours early today. BLAH! today bf wants to go out to lunch, I'm planning on chinese and having some grilled chicken and broccoli. I"m so happy, I haven't had fried food for 13 days! :) Can't wait to weigh in tomorrow, hope I've lost! I stayed OP all week and excersized 6 days. (well actually I got quite a workout hauling groceries from the bus home and walking at a good speed around the waterfront so really I got all 7 days in!) :)
Going to try the mock french toast this morning. Will let you ladies know how it goes. :)

beachgal - Good morning! I love to sneak veggies in everywhere. I made lamb stew last night. It calls for few veggies except for tomatoes, chunks of carrots, onions and garlic. Brian doesn't like to eat cooked carrot chunks so I take the carrots, a turnip, and at least 8 ounces of mushrooms and chop them in the food processor so he ends up eating them without realizing it. It also thickens the stew wonderfully. In the last few minutes of cooking, I add at least a half bag of spinach and let it wilt in. Oh, and last night I added some fresh green beans. I just depends on what I have. I love the stew. I just have to trim the lamb really well and make sure I don't use too many whole wheat egg noodles with it.
jana - I need to make time to do some weeding in the garden this weekend. Everything is growing so well including the weeds. We are getting ready to start water rationing on June 1 where we can only run the sprinklers for 30 minutes total twice a week. That limits us to 4 minutes in most zones which isn't much for the Texas heat. Saturday we will be at the Scout Show for most of the day. I'm only supposed to work 3 of the 5 hours in our booth so maybe I can see the rest of the show this year.
cottage - There is never enough time to read as far as I am concerned. That's why I like the stationary bike since I can read while riding.
kiko - Morning, neighbor! Your little girl is so cute in that picture! And you are doing so well. When do you guys go back to school? I checked and Richardson is Aug 14. That's only one day earlier than this year but it just seems so early.
Ruth - Welcome back! I've noticed several people have added to your post about monthly goals so you might need to add them to the stickied thread.
MsCrockett - I wish we lived closer. I'd love to help you with the math. My major was mathematical programming. Brian is turning out to love math as much as I do.
Hello to soon, chipper, schatzi, kelly and lottie!
I had lots of fun at Roundtable last night. I got to be in a whole bunch of sample ceremonies and games and I got to help lead the singing. Our Roundtable commissioner is going to be moving on to Boy Scouts soon and I think he may be grooming me to take over with the singing! I'm not that good of a singer but most people don't care.
05-12-2006, 11:16 AM
REPORT: The mock french toast came out great! I think the trick is to pour it thin....too think and it ends up tasting too much like scrambled eggs! Thinner is better....They even fluffed up. Delicious! :)
05-12-2006, 11:34 AM
Ruth Welcome back!! :flow2:
Barb We go back August 2- the kids report on August 9. Thanks about the photo! That is in our backyard- she loves her swing. :)
Cruising through the morning here. I am taking a new position in our building next year, so am trying to slowly organize my stuff to move out of this room. I won't be a classroom teacher, but a Title 1 teacher. I will pull small groups of struggling kiddos and help teachers with instrcution in their classrooms. I am looking forward to a new and different challenge!
Okay- need to be productive!!
05-12-2006, 11:41 AM
Wow, on Page 2 already! Hi, Everyone! I've been off here about a week but still trying to stay OP with Phase 1.
Welcome back Ruth!
It is raining in Indy today too. I'm babysitting my nephew all day and my boys are out of school but the oldest one went to work with a friend of ours. So I have 4. WE've already watched Toy STory2.
I'm going to look for some recipes on here. I have the SB recipe book out of the library since Feb.1 and it is missing in my house somewhere!!!
05-12-2006, 12:21 PM
Everyone seems in a great mood today...TGIF syndrome I guess. hehe. :) Not much going on in Jessyland. Made the simply roast pork last night and it rocked my sox! Even the kitty loved it. I have to work tonight and it is supposed to be crazy, we have a crew team coming in. yay. *falls over* But there is some reprieve. On Sunday I'm heading to Maine to visit a friend who is graduating and to celebrate my 25th bday! Two w00ts for lower car insurance premiums! I'm so excited to have a mini vacation. :)
Beachgal- It'd be awesome if we had a lil luncheon around the Fingerlakes. Uhm wineries anyone? hehe I'm out near the capital so it'd be an easy trip down the Thruway.
MsCrockett- My offer for help with math still stands, even if it is later in the summer. I've gotten many people through their math classes when they felt it was hopeless. Plus, I have faith in you! :)
Alrighty ladies, I'm off to go watch that Dateline show "To Catch A Predator." Crazy stuff really. It's so sad that this kind of stuff has a running series on prime time. Poor kids.
Have a great day all! :)
05-12-2006, 12:23 PM
Oh I forgot!
Welcome back Ruth!
05-12-2006, 12:31 PM
:grouphug: Welcome back, Ruthie!!! :hat:  We missed you tons!!! So...do you have a tan? Any stories about dancing with a lightshade on your head? :s: Hope you had a wonderful reunion with Hersh and that Lucy and the pups are thriving. Any puppy pics yet??? (hint, hint...)
I'd love to do a Fingerlakes meet up, Jessy and Kelly J! I think there's one other person who's bio says they live in Central NY...maybe they'd like to come, too? I'll post a thread on this to see who can join us. Jessy, I love the simply roasted pork too...check out the many recipes that you can use the leftovers to make...it makes the next meal so easy to throw together! :chef:
Barb, you are my inspiration, chica! :bravo: Your stew sounds awesome!!! I hope you know that I'll be e-mailing you daily with questions when we have kiddos...you are the ultimate mom!!! :D Now tell me, where did you find WW egg noodles? I've had no luck finding them, even in Ithaca at the co-op, where they have everything!!! :( Any chance I can swap you some WW alphabet noodles for the egg noodles? They have those at the co-op...
Cottage, I'm so sorry that things feel so down lately. You are a very special woman and deserve tons of happiness! I hope you take the time to curl up with a good book, a mug of tea (or a glass of iced tea?) and a cuddly pet or two! :cloud9: Yes...there's never enough time to read!
Kiko, your plans for losing weight by your birthday sound smart! Health really is the best gift we can give ourselves! :goodvibes: Your darling little one :bb: is so adorable in your avatar!
05-12-2006, 12:40 PM
 Hi Ruth!! Welcome back
Good morning to everyone else!
Today is turning out to be a good day. I have confirmed that I am getting my own office at work. I move in after Memorial Day woohoo!! I think this will really help me actually do more work.
Even though it is (still) crappy outside, I am going shopping after work. I need clothes (I recently gave away two garbage bags of clothes that were too big :D). And I'm going to buy an MP3 player. I know, I know, I'm probably that last person in the world under 30 to buy one...but they've finally reduced in price enough that I can afford one
Eating like a horse (took that from Crockett ;)), but still staying OP and losing. I think it only seems like I'm eating a lot because I've really had a taste for veggies lately. Yesterday's count was almost 7 cups! I guess that's better than eating 7 cup of ice cream, though
I hope everyone has a good Friday and a good weekend. I'll report of Monday if DBF was able to get the king size bed into my studio apt. :)
  (double hugs for all)

Laurie - Would you believe that the only place around here that sells whole wheat egg noodles is my Super Target store? They also sell the whole wheat lasagna noodles. However, I should point out that both are by Hodgson Mills and I have used their web site several times to order types of whole wheat pasta that I can't find in the stores. Just order enough stuff and they send a case and the shipping isn't too bad. I like to get the bowtie pasta and the shell pasta from them directly since I haven't found those in the stores here. The egg noodles are a little thinner cut than I really like but they taste great - just like all their pasta. I'll be glad to converse with you when you have kids. My main recommendation to all parents is start them on the healthy stuff when they are little. Get them used to variety.
05-12-2006, 12:47 PM
Jessy~ Thanks and I am keeping you, officially on stand by, I just need to regroup, and get focused and you will be hearing from me,, THANK YOU SO MUCH,, IT means alot.
05-12-2006, 01:56 PM
Thanks for all the welcome back wishes.
Hey! The courier just delivered my missing suitcase and all is intact including two big vines that my SIL dug up for me. Hershey is home and delighted to be with her mommy again. She missed Lucy as her buddy when she was at the kennel. I have a call in to Morna re the puppies and will report later.
Right now my HersheyGirl and I are going to have a rainy afternoon nap! I don't function well on four hours of sleep. Must be old age - NOT!
05-12-2006, 02:10 PM
Hey chicks! Well, I arrived in S. CA safe and sound. I'm about to go for a walk to pick up some creamer, come home, have coffee, then walk to the park and around the big lake in the park. Later I'll stop by the hairdressers right up the street for a trim. My bf has to work today, he has to work most of the time except for 3 three day weekends while I'm out here. That's Ok because I have lots of work to do with my data and my thesis to keep me busy. This is a "working vacation" lol!
I'm really going to try to eat right while I'm out here. As usual, there's not a vegetable in the house except for the frozen one's I bought last time I was out here. I'm going to have some scrambled eggs and oatmeal for a brunch. Then tomorrow morning we'll stock up with all the essentials.
Have a great day chicks! And welcome back Ruth!!!
05-12-2006, 03:48 PM
BeachgalI was the one asking about getting everything in. I order the books but so far only the cookbook came. I am a tad onfused on the process. I think I'm going to make up a chart so I can make sure I'm getting everything in. I did lose another lb. but that's 4 in 3 weeks. Sorta depressing. On the good side, I added a fruit and so far so good.
Cottage: I have alot of trouble with my neck and what works best for me is a "dogbone" shaped pillow. Or a towel rolled up. No pillow. Put it
right on your neck to sleep, not underneath your head. My chiropractor suggested it and it does work. Somehow it strentches and lenghtens those neck muscles gets rid of my sore neck.
Lottie You have such good ideas. I didn't like the mock french toast because it was too thick. DUH>>>I don't know why I didn't make them thinner. On the other hand I do like the mock oatmeal with walnuts, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
To everyone else, Welcome back, good morning, thanks for sharing all the info. Have a good day everyone.
05-12-2006, 03:56 PM
Yeayyyy, my weekend officially started at 1:30 today! For a change, Cindy was on time and ready to take over. With her crazy Dr's schedule, we both have to be flexible, but this week was really rough on both of us.
Too many postings to address each of you individually, but it seems like we're all doing well. :)
RUTH ~ I'm glad you had a good trip and are back home safe and sound.
LAURIE ~ Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to get started on the "Aunt Dimity" books this evening. I'll let you know what I think of them.
MsCROCKETT ~ Sounds like you have a good plan for your Math course for the summer. I think it will be much easier for you this time.
KIKO ~ LOVE the picture of your baby! Both your girls are adorable!
05-12-2006, 04:02 PM
Smokepole ~ Thanks for the advice, I'm going to try it tonight. I sure hope it works, as it's really painful!
05-12-2006, 04:04 PM
Yeah I made the first one ridiculously thick. I was sort of staring at it in awe. *L* then I sort of popped it open and poured it out and made a smaller one that came out great! :)
05-12-2006, 04:05 PM
Trying to drink 128 oz of water today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't want to have any water retention for my weigh in tomorrow! ;)
05-12-2006, 05:17 PM
Hey everyone! I'm back tan, happy and weighing the same! Didn't go too crazy although I definitely fell off the wagon... the trick was probably the fact that I jogged 4 mornings while I was there... Got some hiking in and LOTS and LOTS of beach baking. Was in the snow one day, black sand beaches the next, further most point of the US the next... was insane crazy and I could cry about having to be back at work... all and all I am SO grateful for my experiences... I'll have to post some pics... hope everyone has a GREAT day!
