Morning all!

Maria: Oh my Goodness! That is expensive! I would love to see Alaska sometime myself.

Ann: New car! Cool! Sounds like a nice van. Glad you got a good deal on it.

It has cooled off here. Nice and breezy. Yesterday was weird. We left our house to go on a ride and ut was nice and breezy. But up in the hills where it is also cooler it was hot. And our House was hot yesterday to, was actually nicer out side then in. Hummmmm, wonder if the Air is going on the fritz. ALAS... Hope not.

Ann how exciting to get a new van. Would love to have one just in Oct and Nov when I do craft shows. It would be a lot easier to pack than my little car. I am with you Lily - I would love to go to Alaska. But I would also like to see Australia - keep trying to win the lottery but it just doesn't happen. Hawaii is probably out of the question too - sounds like I definitely be on a diet there. We went for a ride yesterday to one of those little towns in Indiana that has a lot of shops. All of the men sit outside on benches and talk while the women shop. It is probably the same everywhere. Slavika your lake sounds nice and cool and relaxing. Where is Trudy? Everyone have a good Monday,

but there is a downside:( Due to the lack of rain, water restrictions will be imposed as of September 1. They are asking everyone to take shorter showers saving the equivalant of 1 bucket of water per day, per person. If this request is succesful severe water restrictions may not be put into force.
It won't make a great deal of difference to us but with all these weather pattern changes it does make you wonder about this global warming bit:rolleyes:

Ann your van sounds great. I agree it is a nice feeling to have a warranty. I don't know much about the tax system either but in Australia each state is taxed the same on income, the tax does however vary from state to state on petrol, beer, cigarettes etc. The same here, it depends on your level of income at what rate you are taxed. If you are in the higher income bracket (and we are for the first time in our life) you are taxed at 47cents in the dollar :o :?: :s: From what we understand of dh's peers from the US, the highest tax they pay is 32cents in the dollar.
I am not complaining but that is just the way it is.

DH has gone to Sydney for 3 days and I have the place to myself. I will be going to get birthday gifts for the partners of both my children who have birthdays in September. Getting organised as I am participating to be out of action then with my feet.

Have a great day all
Cheers
Maria

Maria: Have you set a date to have the foot work done? I'm sure you will be happy once it is over and done with and you have comfy feet. We still need rain here, but have not had any water restrictions placed except for lawn sprinkling.

Lily: Hope your ac is okay. Tomorrow we are having our air ducts inspected for holes. The electric company is sponsoring the inspection. We pay $25 and if we need repairs, Tampa electric will pay $200 toward the repairs.. It sounded like a good deal to us. Hope we don't have to have any work done.:D

Just copied a chocolate cookie recipe from the WW news letter. If it is any good, I'll share it. 2 cookies= 2 points. Not bad if they don't taste like cardboard.

Peggy: Have you ever participated in a quilt block chain letter. I got one and after sending them out, so far I have received about 50 blocks of the 72 I'm supposed to get. I just found that one of my sendees never sent out her letter. It was fun anyway. Don't know for sure what I will do with the blocks, but some idea will probably come forth. All the blocks are varying shades of purple.

Hi everyone. 'See you tomorrow' Ann

 Hi Everybody
Ann a new van, how nice for you guys. They certainly are the ideal thing to travel in, especially on holidays or if you have lots of stuff to take some place. Sounds like you got yourselves a good deal too. :)
Yesterday I bought a birthday gift for a dear friend who will be 60 yrs old in Nov. She's my friend who just celebrated her 40th Wedding Anniversary, at the lake last weekend. I bought her a "Swarovski Chrystal Friendship Puzzle Pendant". Actually it is two pendants, that fit together like puzzle pieces. A blue chrystal one for me and a Topaz one for her. They came with black silk cords but I am going to have gold rings made for them so that we can hang them on gold chains. I was very pleased with my purchase, and I think she will like it too. We have been friends for 27 years, and have had lots of birthdays between us. On my 40th birthday she gave me a a lovely gold charm on a chain that says, "Live, Love, Laugh". I have seen a few with the same words but never one as nice as mine. I still wear it :)
Had a really nice tea time today, although it was only
Trudy and I.........:D that's ok we talked enough for the gals that were absent. :)
"Talk" to you all tomorrow. Night.

It has finally cooled off!!! Slavika what a nice present you have for your friend. I am sure that she will love it. When we were in Iowa I saw the ceramic birdhouses that you got for someone a while ago. They were pretty and very detailed. Ann I have never heard of the quilt block chain. I bet you get back some nice ones. What are you going to do with them? Did you agree ahead of time on the purple? How about the cookies - did you try them yet? Maria what are you doing with your alone time? Well I finally did it and lost a pound this week. I was begining to wonder if that was going to happen. I hope that I can continue the downward trend. Since today is so nice and it has finally cooled off [thanks to the Canadian air] I am going out to do some yard work. Talk later,

Well, this is my first day back after taking care of little Austin for 2 days. Boy, did I have fun! His colic is gone, hallelujah! He is right on the cusp of laughing out loud. He smiles that big old goofy no-teeth grin and just tugs at my heart. His mama got about 1/3 of her mural done for the business. Her mama is taking care of him today and tomorrow. When we were in the city, we took one grandson to see the hotair balloon festival. It was so much fun, seeing them inflate those things and take off. We had a great time!

Slavika - I think your gift of the necklace is just wonderful! Is one for you and one for her?

Anne - a new vehicle! What a treat! Our car is 2 years old and we just spent $180 on the air conditioning and had to get a new radio! Don't think they make things to last.

When my son got married in Hawaii, they spent 10 days. They ate once a day (I am sure at fancy places) and bought only one meal for $70 and then had to add $7 so they could share. There are other places that are all-inclusive, that is, everything is paid for, but now Hawaii.

Have a great day! Glenda

Hurrah!! Fed Ex brought our computer- all the boxes. Now the fun begins putting it all together and getting hooked up. You my not hear from me for a while until we are up and running. We will still have the webtv hooked up until that day arrives. Will try to check in now and then. Wish us luck. Ann

Hi Everybody
I had a nice day out with my friend and a big lunch. DH is in a golf tounament today and will not be home until about 8:00 so I just had a toasted open faced tomato (from my garden) sandwich, for supper this evening. It was really good. :)
I bought the Princess another little outfit for her birthday (Aug. 30th). It's corduroy pants and and nice brightly colored sweater to go with it. She'll need some fall clothes for school, and this will be nice for her.
Peggy yes those little ceramic candle houses are nice and there are so many different kinds now. You can also buy little things to go with them, like ceramic people, dogs, cats, things like that. Congrats to you on your 1# loss. :)
Glenda sure sounds like you enjoyed your time with Austin, I knew you would. Yes, one of the puzzle piece pendants will be for me and one for my friend. I will give them both to her with a little note.....not sure how I will word it yet. I'm thinking about it. There are cheaper places to eat in Hawaii, you don't have "fine dine" every night, (unless of course you are on your honeymoon). ;) Lots of restaurants in Maui are very reasonable as long as you do not have drinks. Alcoholic beverages can really shoot your bill up. The most expensive places to eat are in the hotels. Lot's of the restaurants have a 1/2 price special if you order before 7:00PM too. They also of course, have their share of pizza places, hamburger spots, and Asian fast food places as well. In Maui, you really need to have a car but in Honolulu you don't.
Ann YIPPEE! so your computer has arrived. I know you guys will really enjoy it, and yes you bet..... "GOOD LUCK " Let us hear how you are doing. Do you have disconnect your "webTV" (did I get that right) before you can set up the computer? Trudy hi, what were you up to today? Boy the weather was strange today wasn't it? I noticed in the Mall today that all the fall clothes are out. Last week there was just a few things.
Well gang, that's it for me today, hope you all have a nice evening. Night.

Just back from the specialist and I am having my feet done on September 4 at 11.30am:) :( Not sure if I should smile or frown.
The doctor seemed to be very nice and I asked him how many people he had performed this surgery on before, he said 'do you mean how many times a week?' So he sounds like he is quite experienced, I mean you got to check out all those things:D His prognosis of the recovery did not seem to be quite as grim as the podiatrist. He said the first 2 weeks total bed rest but after that I can start moving about a bit. Never the less the total recovery time will be 3 months, which I was told before.

Glenda sounds like you had a great time with little Austin. It seems to be a thing here in Melbourne, just about every weekend we have balloons coming over our way, they are so close that I can see the people in the basket and see the flame getting a bit of a boost now and then. They are quite spectacular but I prefer to watch them from the ground;)

Ann smooth unpacking of your computer, you will love it once you get it up and running.

Slavika your gift to your friend does sound lovely, I have never seen that sort of thing before.

Peggy good question what do I do with my time alone, very little! I have found it very frustrating knowing that I have to get my feet done and the recovery time. There are some great short courses at the University here and I had also intended to join a computer club but have put everything on hold until my feet are right. Thank goodness that is now in hand and something is actually happening:cool:
In 1978 dh and I lived in Darwin and we travelled back to Adelaide via the East Coast. We had bought a large caravan for that purpose and the trip took us about 9 weeks. I kept a journal during this time which I am now typing out in MSPublisher with all the photo's we took. I thought it may be nice for my children who were 4 and 20 months at the time. It is quite a job and I am spending a few hours each day doing it.

Good to hear the weather is cooling down for some of you. Saw on the news the horrendous fires in California:( I hate bush fires they are so squary.

My sister in law and her dh are arriving this afternoon for 4 days, I better go and get some shopping.

Cheers
Maria

Maria oh, I'm glad you have your date set to get your feet looked after. I wish my Periodontist would call me, and set a date for the implants. I know I still would have to wait about 6 months after that for the work to be competed but I'm anxious to get the "surgery part" over and done with. He said probably not before the end of August or early Sept so I guess I just have to be patient. :(
Two weeks total bed rest is not so bad. You could read a few good books, or get some audio books, watch lots of movies, talk on the phone, and.......... over a two week period of doing absolutely nothing your finger nails will be looking great! :D
Enjoy your company over the the next few days.
Ann I hope the computer hookup and downloading of stuff is coming along ok for you. Thinking about you. :)
DH took our grandson to a baseball game this afternoon, and I had the Princess with me. We all had a good time.
Bye for now.

Hi All: Just a quick note. We unpacked all the boxes, took one look and we both said, we need help. So Friday an expert is coming to hook us up and give us some starting instructions. We decided that would be the smart thing to do.
We won't disconnect the webtv until tomorrow.
Slavika: Your friendship gift sounds wonderful and very unique.
Peggy: I didn't choose the purple. I just got a letter with instructions to send 2 6" squares with purple print, to six people. And to the person who sent it to me. Then take her name off, and add mine to the bottom of the list.So someone else chose the color. I still have one letter to send out. Would you like one? You could circulate it to all your crafty friends.
Maria: Glad to hear you have the date set for your feet. A relief to know so you can plan, and get in a good supply of books and movies.
Hi all. Talk you you Saturday on the new computer.:spin: Ann

Glenda: The hot Air Ballon Festivals are fun! Love seeing all those beautiful ballons! Sounds like you had a great time with Austin!

Ann: So the guy comes tomorrow to hook up the computer huh? I have set them up before, but I always have DH do mine at home. I trust him more than me :)

Maria: Not to far off to get your feet done. Bet you are glad that is settled. Not to worry you will be fine!

Slavika: Was that freindship gift the same type thing you showed us a while ago? Sounds like a great gift!

Been real crazy at work this week. We did watch a good movie over the weekend. Called Pay it Forward. Very good. And very sad to.

 Hi Everybody
I was doing a whole bunch of things today, like grocery shopping, carrying the stuff into the house, cleaning out the deep freeze, taking out garbage.....and then when I finished, about 5 minutes later, my back started to hurt quite a bit. I have never had any real trouble with my back, but it hurts about a hand width down from the back of my waist. I sent Trudy an e-mail and told her it was easier for me walk if I stuck my stomach way way out............very attractive. LOL :D
I loaded up on stuff to take to the lake tomorrow, but maybe we won't go, I'll just have to see how I am in the morning.
Lily hi there, how are you doing? No, Lily this present is different then the other that I talked about. There is a web site for Swarovski Chrystal, but the pendant that I bought is not shown. In fact lots of the pretty things they sell are NOT on that web site. :?:
Ann I hope your computer expert has you all set up now and you are ready to try out your new "toy". I don't know how different it will be for you from your webtv.
Maria I guess you are busy enjoying your company...have fun. :)
Hope all you gals have a nice weekend. Talk to you soon.

Just a quick post for the weekend. We are going to go to a castle Sunday and Monday. It is in the Hocking Hills. No t.v.- no phones. If you want to see it look here www.ravenwoodcastle.com. We are staying in Rapunzel's Tower. Hope the weather is nice because there is a lot of hiking and caves in that area. Slavika take care of your back. Sounds painful although it is a good reason not to have to hold your stomach in. My son has a patient that he treated. He is a pilot for Delta. He gave my son 2 passes for anywhere in the world. He is thinking of Hawaii. I wonder if I could stow away in a suitcase. Ann how is the computer coming along? That is very exciting. You are getting all kinds of new things. None of my crafty friends sew - in fact none of them are too crafty. How is the sister visit going Maria? Have to go - I am coloring my hair and it time to rinse it out. Have a nice weekend. Well we are sll set up and I am having lessons in fun and frustration. I know that once we really get going we will really like it. I know that things are very ppppfast, in comparison to our webtv. That is great.
Slavika: Sorry about your back. I know just what you feel as it is one of my regular problems. My Dr. gave me a series of exercises to do to strengthen the stomack muscles, to hep support the back. My problem is degenerative disc. Hope your situation is just a temporary one. A bad back os no fun:cry:
Hope you made it to camp.

Peggy- A castle. Are you going to drop you hair out the window so your lover can climb up. Isn't that what Rapunzel did? Hope you have a great time.

Hi Geri, Karen Glenda, Trudy.

Here is a recipe I took from a WW news letter. They are very good, and if you don't put the pecan halves on top are only 1 point for two cookies. With the nuts they are 1point per cookie.

36 pecan halves
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbs butter
2 tbs apple butter
1 large egg white
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder

Preheat oven to 350deg. Place pecans on a cookie sheet; bake until nuts begin to brown and are fragrant. Remove, set aside

Combine sugar and butters in a medium bow. Beat on medium speed with an electirc mixer until soft. Add egg white and vanilla; beat until combined, scraping mixture off sides of bowl as needed.

In a medium bowwl, whisk together cocoa, flour and baking powder. Add to butter mixture; beat to combine.

Drop dough by even teaspoonfuls, about 1 inch apart onto 3 ungreased cookie sheets. Place 1 pecan half on top of each cookie. Bake for 12 minutes remove from oven and allow to cool on pan for 5 minutes. Remove cookies with spatula to rack to cool completely. Yeid 2 cookies per serving. serves 18 2 points per serving Enjoy

Peggy: Looks like a great place to go! The rooms and everything looks really nice!

Ann: that recipe looks good! I will have to try it. You will get use to the computer. It takes a while, but you will love it!

G'day all

Back on our own again:) We had a great weekend with our visitors but it is nice to just be 2 again. It was a very bleak weekend weather wise but we still managed to do quite a few things.
I have bought an aerobics tape and did it this morning after dropping the visitors off at the airport. When I used to go to the gym I used to really 'enjoy' the low impact aerobic classes. The tapes I bought are a set of three, the first one was excellent and it was similar to the classes I used to go to. I will try and do it every day but of course will have a break when I am recovering from my feet surgery.

Slavika sorry to hear about your back, I had a back operation some years ago so know what it is like to have a bad back:( Why is there the wait for your teeth implants? I feel much happier now that I have a date, and something is happening and I feel positive all will be well.

Ann sounds like you are on your way of being up and running with your computer. I have to confess that dh and I don't often have arguments unless we are both trying to figure out something on the computer:?: At least we know why we get snitzy with each other and it is best that we do our 'own' thing as far as computers go!

Hi Lily, Trudy, Peggy, Karen and Glenda hope you are all well.

Cheers

It is just a few minutes to 5 p.m. and I just wanted to update you all on the court thing on Friday. My friend Beverly and her daughter were approached by the ex's (Bruce) lawyer who wanted to at that late date "waive" the closing arguments because she was unprepared. Lori, the daughter, would agree only if Bruce would finally give her the half of the checking account she was awarded 3 years ago in the divorce. He finally agreed so Lori did get something out of it. The judge will now make a ruling by September 17th on the custody to see if Bruce gets to have supervised visitation with Caleb. Bruce has not even seen Caleb in 3 years and Caleb is now 7 and very frightened of this man. Just need to keep him in your thoughts and prayers please. I so hope the legal system can be trusted to make the right decision.

Slavika - I so hope your back is better and that you don't have anything seriously wrong. I also have degenerative disk problem. At times pretty miserable.

Hi, Anne, Trudy, Lily, Maria. Maria, I have a little toe surgery scheduled for Oct. 12th. It will be just to straighten a toe so I don't almost faint after walking. Wish we had been born with good feet. People with good feet are so lucky, aren't they?

Hi Everybody fortunately my back is feeling much better today. I guess it was "just" a pulled muscle but I have to admit it did hurt over the weekend. I never really ever had a sore back before, and sure don't ever want one again. It looks like a couple of you gals have had far more serious back aches then the one I had. :( We did go to the lake but I sure wasn't very active. My grandchildren went tubing but I sat on the dock and watched them from there. I certainly had no desire to get into the boat. Ann you are in for a real treat now that your computer is all set up. There are so many things you will want to try. Have fun. :)
Peggy you always seem to go some place so intertesting. "Your" castle looks just great and I think the "Rapunzel Room" is particularly nice. You will have to tell us all about it. Maria the reason for having to wait to start the procedure for the implants is that my mouth had to first heal from the teeth that I had removed. I knew that of course, but it still makes the waiting hard. You are fortunate that you have your surgery date...and soon your's will be over and done with. Good, I'm happy for you, soon those feet of yours will be just raring to go. :D
Glenda I was thinking there is a whole bunch of us "Dollies" on this board that are having some "maintenance" work done on our bodies. :D Having a toe straightened....now what did you do to your poor toe?? :?:
Well tomorrow I will be having the gals (everytime I use the word "gals" I think I must bring a smile to Maria's face) over for tea but none of us are going to WW. I am hoping that between now and NEXT week I magically lose 5# :dizzy:
Night all, talk to you tomorrow.

who amongst us 'gals':D (there you go Slavika I have actually used the word :D :D ) is guilty of not always reading the posts thoroughly?
I was wondering why others spoke of 'letting down your hair' , today I realised I just did not read Peggy's post properly:( :o . I have now had a look at the website and it looks great.

If I have missed a couple of days I very quickly read through the posts and invariably I miss some of what was said:( Please tell me I am not the only one who is guilty of doing this.

It is a very cold day here in Melbourne and quite miserable. I have been catching up on my correspondence and planning what I need to do before I go into hospital.

Slavika that is a very good reason for not having the implants just yet, it gave me goosebumps to think of screwing in an implant if the gum is not healed properly:eek: At the same time I can understand you would want to get this over and done with and have a million dollar smile!

Glenda I hope all goes well for your friend and the court case. Which toe are you having straightened?

Have a great day all,
Cheers

Maria: Which Tapes did you get? Im not good at areboics at all. Im a real clumsy person :) Try as I might, I have decided to stick with just the toning ones.

Glenda: Glad your friend got something out of it. Still hoping they make the right decision. Keep us posted. What did you do to your toe?

Slavika: Glad your back is getting better. And glad it was nothing to serious. Backs can be tricky sometimes. Least you still got to go to the lake. Have fun with the gals!

Maria I know what you mean, you are reading the posts and then you think, "did I miss something".....you go back and read the posts again and YUP you missed something. LOL
I went out this morning and cut down the last of my rhubarb and made a "rhubarb crisp" for tea time. It was good. That "strawberry rhubarb" that I have growning in my little garden is very red in colour and sweeter then the other. :)
My back is much much better today, just the odd twinge of pain.
Lily I know what you mean about summer coming to an end. When we were driving home from the lake on Sunday we noticed that it was getting darker out, sooner. I sure will be sad to see summer go. Our falls are lovely but it's the winter that comes after that ........:(
Tea time was great today. Trudy was looking just "fine" today in a long T-shirt material type dress with a long slit up the front.....boy if our Grandmother's could only see us now. LOL :D
Talk to you all later.

If anyone is going to plant rhubarb, do yourselves a favor and plant the Strawberry Rhubarb.... it was delicious. Slavika is one good cook. We had a really fun time today.
I haven't posted in a while, but I have been reading. Yes, Maria I have to go back and read all the time because I miss important information that someone is sharing. I do low impact aerobics too, love it.
Peggy the castle looks so nice, wish I was going too.
Glenda I sure hope Caleb isn't forced to see that man. Too terrible to imagine.
Ann the recipe looks tasty. I like the part where it said "2 cookies - 1 point". Thanks for sharing.
My DH's sis and hubby are in the city for a couple of months so we are doing a lot of things with them. Sure has been a nice summer, but the days are getting shorter for sure. You are right Lily, I don't feel like moving in the morning either.
I haven't been feeling too great,..... digestion problems. I got the results from a medical test and I have a Hiatus Hernia and GERD. My Doc prescribed Losec so I will see how that works for me. Seems to me someone else on the board posted the same problem. Could whoever it was, refresh my tired old memory for me? I am trying to get all the information I can.
As far as WW goes, I had managed to stay under goal, but would have had to pay today IF I would have WI. Maybe we both could work some magic this week Slavika. I am going to keep these words in my mind .... portion control, journal, water and more water. It's hard to believe, I could feel so rotten and still eat as much as I did. I think I need my head examined.

Talk to you all later... Bye Bye.

Happy Tuesday All,

Haven't had much of a chance to post because life has a way of running me ragged:dizzy: Another one our long time WW leaders has decided to hang up her leader hat . She was doing 5 meetings a week and has for a good 10 years. Anyway I said I would take 2 of them temporarily. There some one else to take over the Tuesday meeting as I already have 2 that day. But that leaves 2 that will be closing because there is no one to take over. Or wants to take over. :( I'm sure my meetings will be growing larger. So anyway i tend to meet myself going and coming:?:

Peggy The castle trip looks like fun. I think i'm going to come live with you . You always seem to going and doing something fun.

Maria My memory is the pits also. i always have to go back a re- read things.

We had some bad new this past week end. My mothers oldest sister is in a nursing home for good now. She had fallen and broke her hip some weeks ago. So in looking into why she was losing her balence the doctors found that she had Creutfeldt-Jacob (Jakob) Disease. CJD for short. It is an organic brain syndome caused by a viral-type organism. Very Rare. My mom was pretty upset when she got the news. There is no cure or known treatment. Death is certain. She is 83. She is the oldest of my moms two sisters.

Ann I see you are up and running. Welcome to the world of technology. You will learn with each mistake. Me I had to take notes on how to do what and have post-it notes all over my desk. You will also get braver as you go along.
Trudy I have GERD. No fun but manageable. You find out real quick what you can and can't tolerate. My Doctor gave me a Rx of some kind of numbing med. that I can mix with maylox when i have an attack. Haven't had to use it in along time .

Slavika Would love to taste your cooking as Trudy is alwys raving about it. Hope your back is better .

Glenda I hope all comes out well for your friend.

I hope I did not forget any one in this post. But knowing my Memory I'm sure I must have. Catch you later.
